you really couldn't pinpoint when or how it started. it's almost as if he'd always been there; by your side in your bed. you knew it was wrong. having these.. relations with gothams most wanted was a sure way of having either gcpd on your front door or batman, and if the time came you hoped it was the former.

tonights no exception either. it's late, way past anyones bedtime. you're in your bed, sleeping after a long day of work when you felt the bed dip. something that always left you mesmerized was how he never made a sound. you'd only know he was there if he wanted it to be known, otherwise he would just blend into the shadows.

no words are exchanged, you don't need too. you both know what he wants and you have not problem giving it to him after all, you want it too.

he slips in you so easily like all the other times. his cut and callused hands sending shivers throughout your body, jagged nails gripping onto your flesh.

his hips are rutting into yours, leaving you breathless. depending on the time of night or on how much energy you both had it was either slow and somewhat meaningful or crude and animalistic, you just couldn't decide which one you'd prefer.

the only sounds he would make would be low groans and pants or the occasional dirty talk or instructions, never being one to make useless chit-chat, "that's it baby, right there," "what a filthy cunt, just taking my cock in" "imagine what people would say if they found out what we were doing."

you on the other hand were left hot and bothered. moaning whenever he'd hit that right spot, whimpering when his nails or sometimes teeth would clamp down on you, whining every time he'd finish and leave you empty.

when you wake up he's never there, but you know that he was by the smears of red and black grease paint on the pillow next to you. you'd push down the hurt you'd feel in your chest. it's okay. it's for the better. anything more or with him and your life is basically ruined.

but you knew, you were far too deep into him.

Commodus sat in his private box at the coliseum, his eyes fixed on the bloody spectacle unfolding before him. He was dressed in the finest clothes, adorned with gold and jewels. Next him, the senators are visibly displeased. They exchange uncomfortable glances and mutter amongst themselves clearly disapproving his way of dressing. A stark contrast to the more modest attire of the senators around him. They were resentful of Commodus lavish display of wealth and opulence, which the senators see as an affront to the dignity and the austerity of the roman public.

Commodus, oblivious to their disapproval, sits with a self-satisfied smirk on his face, his eyes fixed on the spectacle below. Besides the young emperor, sat his lover, a beautiful and seductive young lady.

As the gladiators fought to the death, in the arena below, Commodus turned to her. “Do you like it my little bird?”

“As always, I will be honest with you. I’m not very fond of it. Isn’t it a little bit barbaric?”

Commodus was surprised with her answer. Lucilla stared at the couple, fearing for some bad reaction from her brother.

“But it’s tradition, my dear,” he protested “The people love it and besides, it’s a way for us to show our power and strength.”

The lady smiled at him. “All I care about is you, all I want is you.”

Commodus was intrigued by her answer. He leaned in closer to her, his eyes gleaming with desire. “Is that so?” he murmured. “And what do you want to do with me, my dearest?”

She smiled seductively. “I want you all to myself,” she whispered. “I want you to forget about this place and everyone on it. I want you to focus only on me.”

Lucilla slowly turned her face focusing on the gladiators again, as she saw Commodus grinned. His heart raced with excitement. “And why don't we leave this place and go somewhere more private.”

The two of them rose from their solid golden thrones, and with Commodus' black paludamenta fluttering in the wind, they left the coliseum.

Some senators were confused, perplexed by the emperor reaction, starting to speculate that maybe he was about to join the gladiators or maybe something displeased him. The rest of the senators were offended by the sudden breach of tradition and etiquette. “He uses most of the gold of the empire for those overdone games, and he have the audacity to leave in the middle of them?!” was indignant senator Gracchus.

“Please, senator, my brother may have something urgent to treat.” Lucilla said, trying to calm the older man.

“Leaving with his mistress, is that an urgent matter to treat?” replied senator Gaius.

“She will soon be married to him,” remembered Lucilla to senator Gaius. “She is not his mistress.”

As they spoked about the emperor, senator Falco left them and the coliseum, to follow Commodus, his praetorian guard and his lady.

As they made their way up to the palace, Commodus’s young lady looked at him with a mischievous smile. “I dare you to catch me before we reach our room.” she said, playfully.

Commodus chuckled. “Way too easy little bird...”

And before Commodus could finish his sentence, she started running up the with stairs, giggling with delight. He quickly followed, leaving his praetorian guard caught out of guard.

The young couple ran through the halls of the palace, their laughter echoing off the marble column. They dodged servants and slaves, Commodus even tossing his heavy armor on the black marble floor, to lighten his load.

The rays of the setting sun lit his face with an orange light. The cold air of the evening caressed his face. For an instant, all disappear. His worries and responsibilities forgotten. His face bright with pure joy. Commodus wished this moment stayed forever on his memory. Everything made him remembered his lost childhood.

Her face, looking behind from time to time, was the only thing that kept the young emperor into reality. Her laugh mixed with his, competed with the sound of the little birds singing outside the palace. Her long white dress, transparent as she ran through the orange light of the end of the day, was dancing in the wind.

She was quick, but Commodus was faster, his long strides quickly gaining on her. They weaved through the grand hallways, past statues they will never know who they were, forgotten by history, jumping into the large fountains, not caring about wetting the marble of the palace floor with their foot.

Commodus finally catching her in a secluded corner of the palace. Breathless and flushed, she looked at him, her eyes sparkling with mischief. He leaned in and kissed her, the passion and desire between them palpable.

“Catch me!” Commodus shouted

“Hey! That's not fair!” she replied, trying to run after him as fast as she could, but always staying just out of her reach.

Finally, Commodus burst into their chamber, panting and laughing, he collapsed onto the bed, feeling vivified. “Looks like I won little bird,” he said, a teasing tone on his voice.

“You always do.” She replies finally arriving onto the bed, lying next to the emperor.

Commodus pulled her close to his chest, savoring the feel of her body against his. They kissed passionately, their desire growing. She responded running her hands over his chest and down his stomach. Commodus helped her undressing him and lifts her gown, undressing her in return.

As Commodus entered her, she left escapes from her lips an eliciting moan of pleasure. They made love slowly and tenderly, their bodies moving together in perfect harmony. The sweat due to the effort dripped from Commodus' forehead as he pulled her legs around his waist with the help of his arms. Blood ran down his back, as she clawed at him with all her might, just the way he liked.

“Harder, Commodus, please harder.” She repeated, as her life depended on it.

Commodus eventually came, climaxing with a throaty growl, filling her insides with all the love he could feel for someone.

Afterwards, they lay tangled in each other’s arms, their bodies sill humming with the afterglow of their lovemaking.

When the young woman finally fell asleep, Commodus got up and left their room. Armed with a knife in hand, in case, he crossed the corridors of the palace, looking for a slave who could bring him something to eat. But instead, he found senator Falco, sitting down, eating grapes.

“So, how did the games end today?”

“You would know, your majesty, if you had stayed until the end, as an emperor should.” senator Falco replies.

“Well, my friend, I couldn’t,” Commodus says, smiling like a child. “I had to satisfy my wife.”

“Duty of every husband, indeed. But as far as I know, you're not married yet. And therefore, your highness, I would advise you to not disrespect the people as you have done. The games were organized by you for them. You used the collected taxes, and the gold of the empire to finance its games. If we continue to spend this money like this, there won't be much left. And what image you give to the people if you don't stay close to them, snubbing them as you snubbed the Greek quarters.”

“You are bold tonight, Falco. Did you forget who you're talking to?”

“No, your highness, that's exactly why I'm warning you. Your enemies are at every corner. We must be careful. They are like snakes ready to bite.”

“Well Falco, the enemy is certainly not in my bed. Good night, Falco. Tomorrow there will be new games. Hope my beautiful wife will like chariot racing...” Commodus said, leaving into the darkness of the night.

Note: I wrote this while thinking abouta childhood memory that touched me particularly. I also wrote this while listening to "Now we are free", because I needed a lot of emotion! XD Thanks for reading, don't forget to like and share. Please give me your opinion !

Current Book I'm Reading: OK, so the first thing you need to know about me is that I'm a fully institutionalized academic, and although I've (THANKFULLY) left that world behind, I. CAN'T FOR. THE. LIFE. OF. ME. stop reading like an academic. I haven't been able to read fiction in over a year. The only genre outside of non-fiction that I still seem to be able to connect with is horror. And not like ghosts in your attic horror. Obscure, weird-as-fuck horror. Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman & Monstrilio by Gerardo Sámano Córdova horror (which are both excellent books, by the way). But that wasn't the question, was it? The question was: what am I reading now. Well, (oh god) I've been digging into The Last Man Takes LSD: Foucault and the End of Revolution by Mitchell Dean & Daniel Zamora, which sounds a whole lot more trippy than it actually is. Mainly, I'm interested because the authors point out that Foucault's late philosophy, his so-called 'ethical turn' towards an 'aesthetics of existence', was inspired by a trip he took to California (and the upper reaches of the universe). Since I wrote my MA dissertation on this exact topic (the ethical turn, not the LSD), I thought it might come in handy for future articles...

Last Song I Listened To: Bastille & Hans Zimmer's new cover of Bastille's Pompeii, Pompeii MMXXIII (recommended by a friend). Before that, I was listening to a 'British Folk/Weird Folk/Horror Folk' playlist on Spotify which was pretty interesting... Actually, it reminded me of being a child in the English countryside, stuffing my face with berries by the side of the road and then going to the new-age shop in the village to listen to whale-song CDs, touch magic gemstones, and smell incense sticks. Very hippie.

Currently Watching: The Servant on Apple TV (is the baby real or not!? It's driving me crazy); Foundation on Apple TV (and I swear it's not because Jared Harris is in it or Lee Pace wears chainmail crop-tops. I swear!); and... The News? Does the news count? I watch a lot of 'the news' now. Actually, I can't stop watching... It's been quite sad and terrible lately...

Current Fic I'm Reading: Sorry, I don't read fics! I know it's blasphemy. Believe me, no one is more disgusted with me than I am. But yeah, there you go... Never been my thing, really. Nothing against it.

Next On My Watch List: the upcoming Napoleon movie featuring Joaquin Phoenix; Killers of the Flower Moon; anything A23 produces anytime; Priscilla by Sofia Coppola (which is A23 also so, you know, naturally); and I'll probably re-watch The Green Knight for Christmas (it is a Christmas movie, after all).

Current Obsession: My WIP, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, which you can check out on my writeblr side-blog (@thesorcerersapprentice) has been my main obsession for the past -what?- four years? More or less? I really feel like until I've written this thing, gotten it out of me, I won't be able to write anything else. It just won't leave me alone. I can't think around it; I always end up coming back. It's a story I fundamentally, deep down in my bones, need to write. So it's my obsession: today, tomorrow, and always, right up until the day it's done.

So I’m Adding Another Fella to the F/O List…

And it’s another Joaquin Phoenix character….Merrill Hess from Signs 2002!

Aside from the fact that Merrill is soooo very handsome and such a talented baseball player (two of the main reasons I’m fawning over him, lol), he’s also a family centered man with such a caring heart and protective and positive attitude. Ahhhh, I can’t help it…I simply love and adore him as a character.

Merrill is kind of an interesting f/o for me because he’s become a character I have periodically returned to every time I experience severe depression/ death in my life. I routinely watch this movie after funerals, after my eye surgeries (well listened since I couldn’t watch), and after having pretty bad depressive spells. This movie/Merrill have helped to reaffirm my faith and strength during these dark times. So, it’s like he’s become something of a ray of sunshine within my life admidst the darkness.

Soooo, I decided why wait, why not go ahead and add him to the f/o list! He’s more of a secondary romantic f/o, kind of like how Grinch is for me, Zach and Arthur are still primary, but Merrill’s invaded my headspace, lol. Sooooo….Added ✅ .

So, I have this whole thing about Sam and his powers. Namely, how they didn't use to be exclusively bird-themed.

In Captain America (1968) #174, we get the first textual acknowledgement of his powers. He is able to sense that some henchmen are coming - he calls it a "hunch" - and is receptive to Professor X's attempt to psychically communicate with him. Charles speculates that he's probably some kind of telepath.

This telepathy is most obvious when it comes to the relationship with Redwing (he can communicate with Redwing mentally, and they each seem to have an awareness of each other's location and mental state) but there's nothing originally stating that it's just a bird thing. More like, he has psychic powers that allow him to form an even closer relationship with Redwing than a (non-mutant) human could.

So - bear with me - in the 70s, you could easily interpret Sam's powers as not having anything to do with birds really. Instead, he's got these telepathic abilities that seem to focus on situational awareness and emotional bonds. Maybe he has some empathic abilities? Importantly, there's absolutely zero reason in canon at the time for his bond-forming abilities to be limited to Redwing. In fact, arguably they aren't.

So this happens at a point where Sam and Steve have broken up (they do that a lot) in #145. Sam has a inexplicably accurate dream about Steve's life being in danger, and he's right! He literally has a vision about a thing he has no non-telepathic way of knowing about!

So - again, bear with me - you could easily interpret this as foreshadowing Sam's powers AND as implying that Sam has actually formed some kind of psychic link with Steve, just like with Redwing.

This is like ~90% canon in my mind, at least as far as 70s 616 canon is concerned. But it could totally be used nowadays, or in fics. Sam having psychic bonds with Steve and Misty (he already sort of does with Joaquin). Or mcu-inspired Sam with Bucky et al. There are so many possibilities!

While I enjoy the wholesomeness of the "talking to birds" thing, I do think it's a shame that they narrowed down his powers so much. There's so many story options that psychic!Sam unlocks:

Access to the astral plane

Resistance to some psychic attacks

Vulnerability to other psychic attacks

He could host the Phoenix force! That's bird-themed!

There is so much they could have done/could still do with this concept!

Joaquin is such a phenomenal actor!🥰Every time I watch one of his films, I have to go back and re-watch it a few times just to soak in every element of his work. There's a few of his films I won't watch, for personal reasons (if an animal gets hurt in it, I absolutely cannot watch it), but the ones I can watch, I tend to get a bit obsessed with, so I totally get you!😍

Runningwind as Odd1sOut is not what i was expecting... but it honestly fits really well!

And now I'm imagining Cherryfur as Horse from Centaurworld lmaooo... the voice is a close fit imo! her and Creekflower actually sound pretty similar in my head

PoliZ's WIP Update - 4 Oct 2023

A roughly average week thanks to Fic/Flufftober inspiration (and last-minute Sam Wilson Bingo fills!) I touched 5 fics (2 WIPs & 3 new works) for a total of 2339 words.

I have 19 semi-active WIPs 😬 with my current deadlines being the Sam Wilson Bingo that wraps on Oct 15, the Halloween Horror Bingo and the the Fictober/Flufftober/Whumptober prompt challenges that all wrap at the end of the month.

See below cut for what I’m working on/planning to work on - arranged more or less by bingos/challenges/etc. As always, feel free to send me prompts or plot bunnies as well as asks regarding any of these projects or any other WIPs I’ve got out there. Interaction really helps feed the Muse and keep me motivated!

Seek & Destroy Collab

After reading @psychiccatpanda‘s amazing Morguna and the Green Queen, I got the itch to explore the Soldier’s POV and talked Faustie into collab’ing with me! We’re working on a new part of the series, and I’ve contributed about 900 words towards the 2500-ish we have so far. Going to see if I can squeeze any of my BBB squares into this fic.

All Caps Bingo [ACB_R1] (Ends 30 Sep)

29 squares filled, thanks to the adoptables and Monthly Missions, so I made my blackout and then some! I sent in my badge claims and made my masterpost.

* Sept Adoptable: Dominant Omega - Posted the final chapter of Finding Something Fresh last Friday. Omega!Dom!Steve and beta!sub!Bucky complete their scene; it came in at 919 words.

Sam Wilson Bingo [SWB_R3] (Ends 15 Oct 2023)

I have seven fills and two WIPs - targeting a bingo and perhaps one more fill before the bingo wraps up. Might try to crossfill with the Captain Bottom bingo?

* B4 - Natasha Romanoff - Maybe add on to my Card Sharks drabble, where SamNat & Steve conspire to create a polycule with Bucky? this idea crosses over nicely with my BBB KINK: Seduction mission square

* G2 - Teacher/Teacher AU - Wrote up a No Powers AU FalconHawk meet (mostly) cute ficlet as a crossover with Fictober Day 9. Lessons Learned is coming in at 409 words and will post on Monday.

* G3 - Joaquin Torres - posted A Falcon Turned Phoenix yesterday as a crossfill with Day 3 of Fictober. It’s an expansion of A Rising Star and came in at 600 words even.

* G4 - Adopting a Pet - working on a moodboard for this where Joaquin brings a stray cat home and Sam and Bucky (pretend to) disapprove. Shout out to @hannahshattuck for the assist on the Joaquin pics!

* G5 - Wilson Family Dynamics - filled this with As Night Falls, a TFaWS canon-compliant Sam & Bucky ficlet set in Delacroix. It came in at 368 words and will post to Ao3 before the bingo ends.

Halloween Horror Bingo - [HHB_23] (Ends 31 Oct 2023)

Just signed up for this event, hosted by @halloweenhorrorbingo. After picking three horror films, you get a 3x3 card (with 3 alternates) with prompts based on those films.

* B1 - Dealing with Extreme Cold - seems like a good match with my BBB Cold and or SVB Last Resort square along with Whumptober: Thermometer & Fictober "It's not too late, let's go."

* ALT1 - There’s something under the bed - Working on A Hairy Situation - WinterHawk Werewolf AU that’s up to 1140 words so far and may cross over with my BBB Accidental Villainy or "This might as well happen" square. Targeting to post on Friday the 13th. 😁

Fictober/Flufftober/Whumptober - [FFWtober_23] (Ends 31 Oct 2023)

I’m lumping these three prompt challenges together as I plan on mixing and matching with a goal of using at least one prompt from these three lists each week.

* Whumptober Day 2: Thermometer see HHB Dealing with Extreme Cold

* Fictober Day 3: "Okay, show me." see SWB Joaquin Torres above.

* Flufftober Day 6. Corn Maze - wrote a fluffy IronStrange established relationship where Tony and Stephen get lost in a corn maze. An A-maze-ing Afternoon is coming in at 405 words and will post Friday.

* Fictober Day 9: "I wouldn't do that if I were you." See SWB Teacher/Teacher AU.

* Fictober Day 12: "I'm not saying I didn't like it." Contemplating a crossover with my TSB Pairing: Tony/Thor as a continuation of/sequel to Caught By the Rain and Blinded by the Lightning

* Fictober Day 24: [melting emoji] - combine with TSB "Get back in bed!" Tony has a fever and won’t listen to his partner. Maybe throw in a little Whumptober too?

* Fictober Day 27: "I don't know if they will accept this." - This could be a fun combo with TSB T2 - KINK: Cock-blocking 'bots.

WinterIron Bingo - [WIB_R1] (Ends 16 Dec 2023)

I have sixteen fills completed and two WIPs for this brand-new bingo event that I’m helping mod! Along with crossfilling against my other bingos, I’m going to try to combine my B column squares for the Iron Soldier badge (complete a bingo with a single work). – Alpha Tony Stark, “That was not my intention.”, James Rhodes, Alpine loves Tony and Blind date. (Tony POV remix of A Sugar Coated Pill?)

* N1 - Bucharest – I think I can fold this into a future chapter of My Love is Vengeance - where a young!Tony and a recovering!Bucky have been kidnapped by Hydra, who still thinks Bucky is the Soldier.

* G2 - Eye contact during sex - This will come into play in Chapter 6 of A Sugar-Coated Pill, where Bucky figures out what making love really means, with Tony’s help. It’s crossing over with BBB KINK: Gentle Sex and is up to 503 words.

* G4 - AU: College Students – looking to expand Beaten to the Punch with some backstory on Bucky and Tony as science camp counselors to fit with this square - will also cross over with my WFB Volunteering Together square.

* O5 - Gentle – use this poem as inspiration?

Stucky’Verse Bingo Round 1 - [SVB_R1] (Ends 22 Dec)

Eleven fills, two WIPs and a couple of ideas.

* A1 - Harem - crossover with CABB Secret/Forbidden Relationship - Bucky and shrimpy!Steve are both concubines - they love each other more than their lord. I poked at this a little last week and have 71 words.

* A4 - Fairy Tale Curse - this seems custom-made for a continuation of Beyond the Beast😁 Nothing written yet, other than some Vague Ideas.

* C3 - FREE - Need to find a good match for Chapter 2 of Half of the Flesh and Blood That Makes Me Whole - a Bucky POV remix of at least the first part of Take What Was Wrong (And Make it Right), which is current sitting at 52 words. I’m expecting at least one more chapter, possibly two, depending on how far I want to take the remix.

* C5 - Last Resort - see HHB Dealing with Extreme Cold

Bucky Barnes Bingo - [BBB_R5] (Ends 10 Jan 2024)

I’ve got eleven fills, four WIPs, and a couple more Vague ideas.

* B2 - KINK: Seduction Mission - might add a new chapter to Card Sharks - where Sam/Natasha and Steve finish what they started to get Bucky onboard for a poly partnership.

* B5 - Cold - see HHB Dealing with Extreme Cold

* U1 - Never the fall that kills you - I’ve got a WinterIron hanahaki fic idea for this that I might play with or check against Whumptober prompts

* U3 - Fireplace - Working on a 1980′s No Powers WinterIron fic set at a ski lodge where Tony’s being wooed by poetry and love letters that Bucky wrote to someone else. Started poking at this as a crossover with a Love Letters prompt and it’s sitting at 129 words.

* C2 - Yelena Belova– The plan is to use this prompt in the next chapter of Peresmešnik, (aka Three Avengers and a Baby), which is currently sitting at 1303 words (600-ish of which are mine).

* C5 - Marriage of Convenience/Pretend Couple - next chapter of Lady Natasha’s Consort and Lord Steve’s Companion. Got a spark of an idea the other day that might get me a bit further on this fic.

* K3 - Magic - Aro!Bucky healing with a kiss idea?

* Y1 - Gentle Sex – In-progress Chapter 6 of Sugar-Coated Pill- see WIB Eye Contact During Sex.

* Y3 - Alpine - see WIB Iron Soldier combo.

* Y4 - Forgotten Things - using this for Chapter 4 of You Can’t Stop It With a Gun - it’s sitting at 116 words at the moment.

* May Adopted - Insomnia - finally got this filled with The Dead of Night, which also filled a Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF211 An Old Friend] along with my JBB FREE square. It came in at 317 words and will post to Ao3 before this event ends.

* August Adopted: Take the Shot - sounds like a WinterHawk fic to me… maybe cross over with JBB Touch-starved? Whumptober/Fictober possibilities as well.

Tony Stark Bingo Round 7 - [TSB_R7] (ends 15 Feb)

Ten fills and zero WIPs, with a couple of ideas in play.

I signed up for a 3x3 card for this bingo and have four fills, one WIPs and a couple of crossover ideas.

Post July Break Bingo [JBB_23p] (Ends Apr 2024)

@julybreakbingo is running another event to tide participants over with a 2x3 non-fandom-specific card - I got mine earlier this week and am checking it over for potential crossovers.

* A1 - “It’s you. It’s always been you.” - This might fit in with my TSB Doppelgangers/Evil Twins fill NamNori above :: ponders::

* B1 - Ask the neighbor if they know why your apartment is haunted - I gotta do something with this for Spooky Month - maybe combine with TSB Old Ghosts or something off my HHB card :: ponders::

* B2 - Character’s personality is split into two different beings – I’ve never played with Bucky & the Soldier being two different people, but this seems like the perfect opportunity! Will see what might be a good crossover on BBB or WIB (or even SVB)

* C1 - Touch Starved – another good fit for a Bucky-centric fic. (Steve or Tony or Clint) possibly crossover with BBB Take the shot?

Warm and Fluffy Bingo - [WFB] (no end date)

I got my card from @warmandfluffybingocards back in February but really haven’t done much with it - however, I’m picking it back up for some crossover possibilities!
