i had a longer post for this because im so pissed at the people yelling “but what about the employees!! what about the businesses!!1!” talking about the looting going on as if its not an excuse to be racist about the protests but i’ll just say this: a brand or business is not a human frigging life you absolute morons. in what world is a stolen candle or a broken window equivalent to a human life being stolen because of racism???? are you dumb stupid or both?????? a human life stolen from the very people who swore to protect them, a-fucking-gain, because of the institutional racism so deeply ingrained into our systems. if looting is more blasphemous to you then black people being literally murdered by cops then you’re part of the fucking problem.

- tw for police brutality, violent racism, suicide, and death -
On the evening of May 27th 2020, Regis Korchinski-Paquet, a 29-year-old mentally ill black woman,  allegedly fell from her 24-story apartment balcony while alone with Toronto police officers. What was supposed to be a wellness check ended in her death. Family outside the apartment and many witnesses reported seeing officers push her off the balcony, as well as hearing Regis’ cries for help. Her death is being ruled as a suicide. (x) While Ontario police SIU have been called to investigate, Toronto Police have asked news channels to not come to the scene. It is important that Canadians speak up and acknowledge the inherent racism of our policing force. Like Andrew Loku (x) and D’Andre Campbell (x), Regis was a mentally ill black person murdered by Toronto police for being perceived as a “threat.”. The officers involved need to be held accountable for the death of Regis Korchinski-Paquet. Please sign this petition to put pressure on Toronto Mayor John Tory, MPP Bhutila Karpoche, and Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders to commit to a transparent investigation. Contact these individuals in order to put pressure on the City of Toronto and the SIU to hold the officers involved accountable through firing and filing charges. If you can, please donate to the GoFundMe set up by Regis’ mother.

Hi Tumblrs, long time no see.
I don‘t know if I have any active followers anymore or it’s just a big bot cult of „click here for a video of me glueing my asscheeks together“. I mean no shame if you‘re actually into that.
But if I can reach anyone here, I‘m just gonna take my chance.
So I‘ve compiled all kinds of information on the #BlackLivesMatter cause from various platforms in a document (LINK BELOW). This movement has been around for years in social media BUT of course it‘s a movement that’s been going on for basically centuries, ever since oppression exists. Which is basically since human existence. I know it can be hard to navigate yourself around especially with this avalanche of information. So this is to give you a (relatively) compact overview with a few ways that you can support the cause and an incentive to do research on your own if you haven‘t already.
Spread the word, spread the message.

Regis Korchinski-Paquet was a 29 year old black woman living in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She died after falling 24 stories from a High Park highrise while police were present. She was active in her church, a talented gymnast, and proud of her Ukrainian and Nova Scotian roots. She had mental illnesses and epilepsy. Her family called the police as they wanted her to be taken to Toronto’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. The police say she committed suicide. Her family disagrees. Their lawyer calls her death suspicious. There is an internal investigation ongoing by the SIU. We want answers. We want justice.

Bro I’ll respect black lives matter but I won’t respect people burning down buildings
I respect your opinion and understand where you're coming from, but there are just some things I'd like to say about your statement.
1. Black Lives Matter isn't something you should respect, it's something you should support. (I know you probably didn't mean anything by it, but the wording just rubbed me the wrong way."
2. Now I don't want spread any misinformation (and anyone wants to correct me or has any other information that they'd like to share, feel free do so in the comments) but as I'm aware from what I've heard the police are the ones initiating the violence, the police are the ones starting the fires (I'm not sure which ones that the person I heard this from are referring to, all I do know that the police have started fires) and people who aren't protesters have been dressing up in all black and have been going around and smashing car windows. All that aside, although I don't condone people burning buildings, if a riot is what it takes for change to be made so be it. Black people have tried so many times to make their voices heard and have failed.
Now I'm not saying all this to shit on the U.S., we definitely have problems with racism in Canada too. Just last night a black woman, Regis Korchinski-Kaquet, was pushed off her balcony by police. All I'm saying is that it's for us to understand the history of oppression black people had to live through and the intergenerational trauma and be there to support them.
And for all those out there who are saying All Lives Matter: of they do, but black lives matter most right now. And to any protesters that come across this, stay safe.

I encourage everyone to participate in #blackouttuesday To be making space for the #blacklivesmatter movement. Taking time away from promoting my own business and to make space for others. Hey #toronto (and #Canada in general) -- we're not some shining beacon of light when it comes to police racism and brutality. Stop acting like we are. #justiceforregis #blacklivesmatter #torontoprotest https://www.instagram.com/p/CA6HqhGnxRf/?igshid=s6qscnn0rim

hey, sorry to ask, but what did happen to george floyd? i havent been on the internet in a while bc i was taking a mental health break, and my parents only allow fox news in our house and theyre shit, so czn you please inform me?
hey anon, so this is a really sensitive subject so if you’re taking a break from social media for mental health (which is a good idea props to u for recognizing that and taking care of urself) then im gonna put a massive trigger warning on this ask and on looking through any news sources right now for: police brutality, rioting, racism, and murder. Be informed but be careful and take care of yourself.
George Floyd, may he rest in peace, was a black man from minneapolis, minnesota who was murdered by a white cop on monday. His death was caught on video and its very upsetting to watch so i do not recommend watching it. The cop knelt on his neck and he told them he couldnt breathe while another pig stood idly by and watched it all go down. The teen (yes it was a young teenager) who caught it on camera has also come forward about the trauma she experienced having to witness it.
There are now protests against the minneapolis pd going into i believe their second or third day, which are also being compared to the 1992 LA riots. There has also been news coming out about undercover cops committing arson and firing loose shots and blaming it on the protesters as a reason to make arrests and claim it as a riot so they can tear gas innocent protesters. I dont know how reliable these sources are but i do not put them past these people in the slightest, it unfortunately does not surprise me that these bastards would do something like that.
These are the facts that I have been able to gather from news sources and first hand accounts from protesters on twitter. If you can, i do recommend reading up on the news because staying informed on these topics is important.
tw// murder, suicide, police brutality:
Another thing that i’m going to add is today in Toronto, Ontario police murdered a black woman, Regis Korchinski-Paquet, may she rest in peace, in her toronto home by throwing her off a 24th storey balcony and are trying to call it a suicide. Her mom watched it happen and has spoken out about it. There is no national news coverage yet. Canada is not better and to pretend as such is to validate canadian colonialism and fascism.

My heart is with my black brothers and sisters; for those in my circle, in my family and my online family. Standing with you, outraged with you, enough is enough. This is hitting close to home with Toronto violence going up amidst this pandemic. Fuck racism and the system that enables murdering black lives!
