I have a lot of feelings about Seon Ho not being at Yeon's funeral
I don't really think he was outright forbidden from going BUT
I don't think he was invited either
I don't think he felt welcomed
I don't think he could face them with all the guilt he was carrying i don't think it should all be on his shoulder but he clearly does
I do think that maybe if SOMEONE had reached out he could've been there

Spooktober Prompts Masterlist 2023
"They are calling us…" "Don't listen to them. Do you hear me? Don't listen to a word they promise you!"
The cameras show five people enter an elevator, but only four of them leaving it. Those four never remembered a fifth passenger.
"Aww, are you so afraid of the dark that you need me to hold your hand?" "I'm not holding your hand." "Then whose..."
At first, they believe it to be a bad joke, but when more and more graves of people who haven't died yet appear in the graveyard, they start to panic.
The camera she bought at a flea market already has photos on it. Since the people are wearing clothes from centuries ago, they believe them to be from a play. But they soon realize that those photos and events were real.
A child actress turned cult leader feels her power slipping and she needs to gain control over her following again.
When they started building the new school, they had expected to maybe find unexploded WWII bombs, but what they found instead was nothing they could have expected.
She heard footsteps behind her coming closer, but when she turned around, holding her breath, she could only see the dark and empty alley.
"Why did you choose the cemetary as our meeting place for tonight?" "Because only the dead can keep our secrets."
Going to your own funeral and see who would cry - it sounded almost fun. If it wasn’t for the fact that they could hear and see everything, but could not make a sound to stop them from closing up the grave around them.
A medium without a voice of her own, can only speak when a ghost speaks through her.
They had always felt that shadows seemed to beckon to them. But this time, when the shadows beckoned, they wore a sinister grin. (Submitted by: tumblebumblebee-63)
"I'm not haunting a filthy public bathroom, I'm a ghost with class."
A fun survival game TV show on a remote island becomes a reality when one contestant after the other turns up brutally killed. Right in front of hundreds of cameras and millions of watchful eyes.
Waking up to a child that you've never seen before, but that everyone assures you is your own that you've raised for years, is terrifying.
"Did you see that?" "Did I see what?" "That man... he touched the leaves and they immediately blackened and fell off. Please, let us go back before he sees us!" "Too late." The man in the dark cloak suddenly stood right in front of them and slowly reached out his hands to them.
What started as a fun midnight activity suddenly turned into one of them missing and the others running for their lives, trying to escape freaking zombies.
He always dreamed about being in a kdrama. He didn't imagine it to have a horror side plotline that feels way too real.
They said that when you die, you return to earth as your one true self. Why then, when he opened his eyes after being killed, were his teeth long and he hungered for blood? (Submitted by: ouilah)
She didn't think it would come to this point. She felt the cold stone of the gravestone in her back and before her the red glowing eyes of the creature crept slowly closer.
There are perks of being a ghost. Walking through walls was fun. Or haunting annoying people. But nothing was quite as nice as being able to just fade out of a conversation that you didn’t want to be a part of.
"I dare you! Come on, stop being a coward. There is no such thing as ghosts."
Someone wakes up to a text saying 'It's your lucky day!' and it turns out to be the worst day ever.
A family of vampires that lives unidentified in human communities, becomes paranoid and starts to believe all their neighbors are also supernatural creatures.
There are stories and superstitions abound about the seaside bluffs, but that's to be expected in a town of fishermen. One night, from the bluffs' direction, you hear someone singing, softly. (Submitted by: someoneoffthestreet)
Astronauts coming back to earth keep talking about hearing songs from outside the space shuttle. What they don't say, is that those songs followed them home.
Someone stared at her through the window. She had always felt safe in her own home, shutting out the scary, real world. But a window is just glass, and glass… oh it breaks so, so easily…
A plane disappears from the radar and then reappears multiple hours later at the exact same location in the middle of the ocean with no place to land and not enough fuel to just fly around for hours.
"We shouldn't enter! This place was abandoned for a reason!" "Come on, don't be a coward. We will be the only ones here!" "Okay, okay... I'll follow you. You don't have to push me!" "I... I didn't push you..."
A session of reading tea leaves ends in chaos when every single participant reveals a bad omen.
Something tells the home owner that the kids trick-or-treating in front of his house are not wearing costumes - and are not human at all.

POV: you're making out with your best friend (and crush) AND HOLY SHIT HE KISSES YOU BACK??
tags: fem reader. reader is clumsy and energetic. she basically talks in all caps irl. best friends to lovers, reader and yuuji are both oblivious to each others feelings, reader is obsessed with yuuji bc duh we all are, suggestive, but no nsfw, but reader is still obsessed with plushies and immature things even tho she's basically an adult now😭 reader and yuuji are like attached to the hip, reader and yuuji are touch starved, if i cuddle with my best friend is that love - something reader has probably googled!! reader and yuuji are in college but reader practically lives in his dorm im not sorry
You were spending time with Yuuji in his dorm, resting your head on his stomach while he was lounging down on his pillow, reading a manga. His dorm is a bit more empty than yours. He barely seems to have any possessions, but you're used to it since you don't think Yuuji would need anything else but his necessities. Your dorm is a bit more packed with trinkets than his was! Yuuji would love to spend time with you in your room, but your bed was full of plushies. Your guy barely had any room to stretch his legs.
You were mindlessly scrolling through Tiktok which was full of cat videos and the occasional edits of the characters in your favorite kdramas. You were bored out of your mind, you turned your head to look back at Yuuji who was still flipping through the pages of his manga while biting his lower lip.
"Yuu!!" you're startling him by poking his cheek.
"Mmm, I'm almost done with this chapter, what do you want?"
"I'm bored again!"
Yuuji closed his manga and gave you a sneaky grin, which only you know what it meant, since the entirety of this friendship is just you two irritating each other for sport. Yuuji reached his hand to rest on the side of your stomach.
"Hehe!! you want me to tickle you until you pass out?"
You barely had any time to protest, lord have mercy on your soul. You tried to snatch Yuuji's hand away but your obnoxious (and lovable) friend was much stronger than you.
"Yuu!! NOOOO!! THATS NOT FAIR-AAAAAHAHAHAHA!!"
You don't even try to stop the tickle monster from attacking you! Not like you can, Yuuji is just much stronger than you by a lot. Getting him to stop crushing you when he's laying on top of you, or to unlock your hands because his was attached to yours in a vice grip and you just wanted to relieve your sweaty hands from his was nearly if not already impossible.
(You know Yuuji does this because he's afraid to lose you in the streets of Japan, since you're kind of short! But damn, can this man cut you some slack?)
You were laughing so hard from the fluttery sensation of him tickling you, that there were tears in your eyes, and your face was getting all red, he was pretty much cutting all the air out of you. You couldn't breathe. Death by laughing didn't sound too cash money right now. (It would be really embarrassing if everyone that ended up to your funeral found out about it.)
You tapped Yuuji's thigh to signal you were about to suffocate, and he immediately released his hands that were attacking the sides of your tummy, where you're most ticklish. You catch your breath back slowly but you're still coughing-laughing at the same time. You take a glance at Yuuji and this man just has a smug smile on his face.
“You're so evil!!” you shout at him while pushing him back on the bed, straddling him while he's throwing his head back and laughing like a maniac. You punch his shoulders in frustration, but it just feels like a mosquito bite to him.
“Stooop!! I'm not bad! I'm the bestest friend you've ever-OW!”
You stopped punching his shoulders with your puny fists and this time going for his balls. Since he's wearing sweatpants this time, it's easier for you.
“Hey! That's not nice! Oh! Wait, that kind of feels good though…”
You abruptly stop assaulting your pink haired friend and look up at him in disgust, a snarl plastered on your face. “Yuu, that's so gross!”
He apologizes for it with an adorable pout on his face. You get up off of him and start heading for the door.
“Hey! Where are you going?”
“I literally told you I was bored like 50 times, Yuu. I'm going to find something to do.”
“Nooooo, don't leave me! We could watch a movie if you want? Or one of those korean dramas you like? I don't want to be alone, pleaaaaase!!”
You whip your head towards him and groan like you're in pain because he has his hands clasped together and he's giving you the cutest pout plus those adorable doe eyes that you can't resist because Yuuji KNOWS it gets you to do whatever he wants at any point in time. (Double homicide.)
“Fine! But I pick!”
“Deal!”
Tumblr media
You literally can't pay attention for shit right now.
You usually rest your legs on Yuuji's lap, or he rests his head on your shoulder when you're watching a movie, drama, show or anime. But this time you couldn't escape Yuuji's malevolent tendencies when he forces you to sit on his lap. And he holds your waist with his strong arms too, locking you in place so you can't move or run. Thank heavens you don't have to pee right now.
You were whiny about it at first, but now it feels kinda nice. Honestly you just can't pay attention because you've harbored some weird feelings for Yuuji for a while. You've distracted yourself or repressed it, because you don't think Yuuji sees you like anything but a clingy lil sis! You're as touch starved as Yuuji is, maybe even more? But it doesn't bother him! You would do things to test his boundaries. Like sit next to him and push up the sleeve of his shirt so you can munch on his biceps (which always looked delicious by the way) Or bite his cheek when he's in the middle of rambling about something you weren't even listening to! Just smiling and nodding. It's a bit difficult for you to stop yourself from indulging in your.. urges, but you can't help yourself! You told yourself you just get a bit aggressive when Yuuji is just existing.
“Ay! Stop wiggling. I'm trying to enjoy this scene! I get why you like these men in these dramas! This dude is soo handsome.”
You don't reply, you didn't even notice you were squirming in his lap? Damn, now you feel kind of embarrassed, your cheeks are warming and your pulse feels like it's picking up rapidly.
You turn to look at Yuuji, staring at his pretty face. The face you've seen in your wet dreams about him. You would trace your thumb on his cheeks while he pounded into you. While he took you he hit your sweet spot so many times you would end up squirting, feeling his thick cock ramming inside of you was everything you ever wanted, even if you didn't want to admit it. ‘Cus you thought if you did, it would push him away! And you didn't want to scare your beautiful boy. Losing him is your greatest fear.
Hiding your emotions is getting more difficult now.
But right now staring at his plush lips while he just watches the characters on the screen. It feels so tempting to kiss him. You feel yourself involuntarily reaching your hand to trace your thumb on his lips and it immediately steals Yuuji's attention away from the screen.
“What are you…doing?” Yuuji looks at you, confusion dancing in his eyes and something else. Desire maybe? You didn't really care because you leaned in to snatch your lips with his. And damn it felt so good. He tasted sweet like grape flavored candy. You were going to pull away and apologize because Yuuji didn't seem like he wanted to kiss you back, but after a few seconds he lifted you up to bring you both into a better position, your chest facing his now. You caught a glimpse of the raw desire in his eyes before he smashes your lips against his.
You grip his sweater before you reach under it and slide your hand over his chest. You didn't think Yuuji liked you back at all. But now he's groping your ass and moving your hips so that you're grinding on his bulge. He's hard. Oh fuck! But it feels good when you're grinding against him. You want to feel him, you want to feel more of him. You wish the both of you were naked. But you didn't think this through and you didn't think you were ready to go past that yet. But kissing Yuuji on this couch is everything you've ever wanted.
You pull away and a string of saliva is connecting your lips. That was your first kiss with your first love. Now you're just staring into his eyes. You've always thought Yuuji's eyes are a pretty color. You love boys with brown eyes.
“Yuu.. does that mean you like me?”
“I always have, but I'm sorry if I got a bit carried away. We don't have to do that yet..”
“I DON'T MIND!! I WANT YOU!! SO BAD!”
Yuuji laughs at you being so bold. He taps your ass before he lifts you up in his arms with minimal effort, carrying you back to his dorm. The drama you two were watching was forgotten.
“We could go back to wrestling for now.” You giggle when his tone sounds suggestive.

you're mine noona - pt 2 - cha eunwoo x reader - day 15
Tumblr media
[For reading my past entries, I recommend searching the following tag: #cha eunwoo x reader ; enjoy!]
[Pt 1: https://www.tumblr.com/blowingcookies/746785037098385408/youre-mine-noona-pt-1-cha-eunwoo-x-reader?source=share ]
You closed the windows to your cottage. With all the rain and humidity, your curly hair needed a break from all of the moisture, just as you needed a break from the main house. That's why you decided it was time to move into the little cottage in the far backyard; with how the funeral went, a little distance couldn't hurt
You set up your laptop on the countertop, intent on watching some kdramas while cooking and cleaning, when someone knocked at your door. 'Who could that be?' you thought to yourself.
Before you could make it to the door, it opened.
'Hi Noona.' Dark eyes bore into yours, and you gasped.
Big, solemn, and wet, the uninvited guest moved into your kitchen and personal space . Cha Eunwoo's thick, corded arm reached around to shut off the stove behind you, and he bent down to whisper roughly into your ear.
'Careful. We wouldn't want another accident.'
A cry left your lips, and you tried moving past him, but he was like a steel wall. His hands went into your hair, then one grasped the back of your neck to pull your head back.
'This is how things are going to go...'
'No, Eunwoo, leave me alone!' You felt desperate to leave, knowing if you stayed you would give into him and be humiliated once more. Again, you struggled against his hold, but to no avail.
'Noona...' He drew out the dreaded word, mouthing the vowels against your dark cheek.
Suddenly, you had an idea. Talking back, struggling, and being passive weren't working, so you had to change tactics. You subtly palmed the keys in your jean pocket while stroking his cheeck with your other hand. He shuddered, and loosened his hold.
'Interesting,' you thought to yourself.
You then caressed the sides of his torso, letting your fingertips dig into his slightly fleshy sides. He was startled, and moved slightly back.
This was your chance. Feinting left initially, you went to the right side towards the door. You miraculously made it to your little Volkswagen Beetle car, but before you could open it, Eunwoo's golden hand slammed against the blue paint next to the handle.
You looked back in horror at him.
'You know you're just adding to your punishment, right?' He smirked, and your heart sank.
------
I was able to get through some more questions; if I finish the set tomorrow, I'll write a (hopefully) good sm*t chapter next!
Thank you so much for reading, and for being part of my study journey ❤️

blood free v secret forest, a quick and dirty comparison:-
As someone who fell for Kdrama through Stranger, i loved it because it appeared seamless, grounded and weaved several systems and levels of privilege very elegantly. Most of all it seemed morally urgent, even if it was at its core a detective mystery. (Which, to be fair, Blood Free is as well.)
Secret Forest’s first success was that it held nuance for everyone in the middle of the road; LSY afforded so much thoughtful shading to those men. I often think they will never look as beautiful as they do on SF, and that’s only partly because of whoever did the lighting etc, but they’re not Kdrama glossy perfect; they’re real people trying to reckon with themselves and the moral calculus they have agreed to, and their dignity comes from the reckoning. Lee Chang-joon, Kang Won-chul, Lee Yeon-jae, even Seo Dong-jae for that matter, all have that advantage. LSY managed this for Jung Sung-il in the scant few minutes of screen time he had.
The second success was Cho Seung-woo and Bae Doona. If Secret Forest was a universe they were its gravitational field; it was their fierce sense of honour and morality that drives both seasons. And their moral decency is hard-won; it is tested constantly, and it’s burnished at each opportunity, which is why they are respected. It is a dream that people like that can influence or impact those around them, but you don’t question that they do, by the end of each season, and that’s the victory of writing, casting and the charisma of both leads.
That’s why that funeral scene in season 1 is so important (to me); it shows the gravity shifting. The prosecutors rely on their forest of secrets to keep the centre together, but Hwang Si-mok demonstrates how untenable this has become, how the roots must be pulled out so the weeds die; so new healthy things can grow. The chaebols are at the periphery, and they continue to be there because, most audaciously of all, they don’t matter if enough people shift their moral calculus. I think this gravitational pull happens to Lee Chang-joon in season 1 thanks to Hwang Si-mok and it happens to Choi Bit in season 2 thanks to Han Yeo-jin. They are easily some of the most powerful parts of the show.
On the other hand, we have Blood Free. I’m not sure who the moral gravitational field of this show is meant to be. Maybe it’s Yun Ja-yu and/or Woo Chae-woon. Maybe it’s Lee Mu-saeng. Maybe it’s about the ethical dilemma of experimentation and whether that’s a worthwhile price to pay for the scientific advancements in cultured meat and seafood. Perhaps we need more time to really see the middle of the road characters, but four episodes in there’s not much to go on: there’s Lee Mu-saeng, there’s Queen Dowager as a VP, here’s Jeon Seok-ho. There are three chaebols, all of whom seem like one-note characters to me. (Why ask a talented sketch artist to produce cartoons like these? Unless they’re not, but nothing seems to suggest otherwise.)
The most interesting insight from episode 4 was about Yun Jayu - when offered 72 trillion won for her company, she actually considers it because it means she doesn’t have to face investors and can focus on research. She has influence and money but these are means to an end, for her. I wish we could see more of that, and not necessarily through exposition alone.
When she gives deft, cool answers to reporters, did that come naturally to her or did she work at it? Is she the face of the company because she hated it a little less than Lee Mu-saeng did? If so, why? What comparative advantage did they determine she had? When she wears Chanel tweed skirts and smiles her way through presentations, is that a natural extension of her work or is that a mask she wears? Give me process, guys! Give us the backstory, the way the markets work, the environment for cutting-edge bio research in Korea, the reaction of Big Meat, the interplay of new rich and old rich, some indication of her actual influence (which must be considerably more than what we see on the show, although what little we see, while uncomfortable, is frankly not that inconceivable in a world where you’re constantly connected.) I am so interested in her, and yet I feel I am made to watch the story of her reacting to chaebols and to the mystery of corporate sabotage rather than her being the fulcrum of her own universe. And at no point does the mystery seem morally urgent to me, and it’s because 1) why does it matter if all this is is a giant M&A negotiation 2) why should we care if it doesn’t feel real to us? So what if there’s sabotage? Why on earth isn’t this company guarded like fucking Fort Knox? Why is this company ostensibly so influential, so powerful and yet capable of unusually amateurish errors that are the centre of the show so far and not on the periphery of it? Where is the moral quandary that is meant to grab us by the throat?
Is it a question of the writing? Have her interests shifted and did she want to do a show without having to do too much character work? If anyone has earned a vibes-only moment it’s Lee Soo-yeon, and I respect that for her. I hope the direction isn’t stifling the writing, because that means there is an arresting, politically trenchant drama underneath this dry procedural, and that’s upsetting to consider. We still have a ways to go and I think there is potential, but I have to remind myself not to expect something like SF, that maybe you can’t bottle that formula. That it’s the gold standard for a reason. But honestly, Disney, in the words of TikTok star imo_unusual, you’ve made this show like God was dozing off when the angels were working, now RELEASE US (and LSY writernim)

Pete and Porsche’s Drunk but Not Marriage
So I’ve seen that text post where Pete and Porsche married their best friends and Kinn and Vegas are mad about it. I’ve been thinking about this a lot and went what if it was deliberate and not accidental.
So very very early on in canon, Porsche has a meltdown of oh my god if something happens to me what happens to Chay. He is freaking out in his room. Pete comes back somewhat tipsy from drama night. Pete has just watched a kdrama about a marriage of convenience and his tipsy brain has a lightbulb moment.
What if they got married and then their dependents (grandma and Chay) can rely on the other one if something happens. After all, neither of them have had a serious relationship and in their line of work it seems unlikely to happen. Why not marry your best friend? (I don’t think Thailand allows same sex marriage at this point but for plot purposes suspend disbelief)
This was a drunk idea but Porsche thinks it’s brilliant. Sober Pete also has no objections. So the next free day they have at the same time, they go register their marriage. Pol also has a free day so they drag him with them as second witness (Chay is first)
Afterwards, they stop for lunch where Pol tells the waitress that his friends just got married and they proceed to get couple discounts on their food. (Pete and Porsche are regretting they haven’t gotten married sooner) They video call grandma and tell her the news. They go back to the main family compound reassured there is now a backup plan if something happens and as long as they don’t die at the same time it’ll be fine.
They forget about their marriage.
Canon happens. Pol is sweating bullets once he realizes that Porsche and Kinn are a thing. Does he tell Pete? Pete surely knows, Arm’s mentioned his suspicions to Pete. Surely it’s nothing. Pete knows that Khun Kinn announced his relationship with Porsche. Is this an open relationship? Is Khun Kinn a home wrecker??? (Pol is losing his mind because he is the only person in this house who has not forgotten about the marriage)
Tawan happens, Chay gets kidnapped, Pete gets kidnapped, Chay moves to the main family compound. He is very confused about where this Kinn person came from. What about Hia’s husband P’Pete?? It takes him a few days of confusion where he’s trying to figure out how to ask but then stumbles upon Tankhun’s funeral plans for Pete. Oh. Hia has become a widow and this new boyfriend is a rebound. Chay decides not to poke what is surely an emotional sore spot and goes with it.
Pete reappears. Chay promptly decides that he is not getting involved in this drama he has his own heartbreak to deal with thank you very much. (He thinks this is why they leave the main family compound so doesn’t question it when Porsche wakes him suddenly and takes him away)
Post canon, Chay (and Pol) have lost the plot. What is happening between Pete and Porsche and Kinn and Vegas. They don’t know. It all comes to a head when one day Kinn and Porsche announce they’re engaged.
Pol doing bodyguard duty is very very confused. Chay is also very confused but actually in a position to ask questions.
Chay: Hia, weren’t you and P’Pete already married.
Cue various shocked reactions
Pete and Porsche now have to explain how they got married and then promptly forgot about it.

Marry my husband
Differences between the manhwa and kdrama I noticed:
(Or like more fun facts about the comic)
Tw: death, attempted murder, suicide
Minwhan dies in a car accident. He messed with his car on purpose trying to get Sumin killed the next day (I think they were supposed to go on vacation) but he's suddenly called to go to the hospital to his dying mother and he drives there drunk without brakes and ends up in a river
His mother had like a heart attack or something during a fight with Sumin in which she walked out and left her mother in law to be found by her husband hours later (or the next day I'm not sure) she then pretended to take care for her in the hospital while she actually just worsened her condition to get rid of her so she wouldn't talk and bc she's was a bitch (ps for some reason she couldn't talk while she was in the hospital)
Sumin was arrested for killing her mil
At Minwhan's and his mom's funeral the father was the one who blamed Jiwon
Jihyeok wasn't engaged
After Jiwon's funeral Jihyeok took a taxi (her dad was the driver) and asked to go in the middle of a bridge. He then walked into the water and that was how he died instead of a car crash like the series
At the end they adopt a little girl whose mom died in the hospital Jiwon was (the boss? Manager? Someone important I don't remember, did she make the hospital? For cancer patients?)
Mr Lee was younger than Juran and that's why she kept rejecting him after he had asked her out many times since she believed he should get married with a younger woman
He wasn't actually her lawyer but his brother. He was the youngest brother of... a big family I think and he made a contract (?) With his parents that it was OK if he didn't got married. Also something about the inheritance I think
Juran actually caught her husband with his girlfriend on the bed when she called the police
Her husband later tried to kidnap Yeonji
Eunho actually worked in a nearby Cafe. He kept an extra sweet for Jiwon everyday but she never came to eat it
Huiyeon however ate it. And they slowly fell in love
Huiyeon calls Eunho "Coco"
Eunho didn't participate in the meal kit like he did in the series
Ps it's been a while since I read the comic and most of these were thoughts I had while watching the kdrama
Also while writing this I was also checking their names' spelling and came across this
Tumblr media
Um ok apparently Yura existed (just not in the comic?) And
Well I guess the novel was more different than I thought
Perhaps I should read it

Hear me out, okay: Pete’s breakdown in episode 13 has a lot to do with Tankhun.
I know!!! I don’t want to think bad of Tankhun either! Tankhun is so earnest about Pete being missing - and even perhaps reveals too much of his own sharp intuition to Porsche, because as far as Porsche knew to this point, Tankhun doesn’t keep track of anything but his dramas. Which is how it’s supposed to seem. Which brings me to the next scene with Pete:
Allow me a little play-by-play commentary, because damnit, I can’t take Vegas’s face in episode 13. The way horror dawns across his face as Pete says, “I’ve lost my humanity. No - I never had it. I don’t exist. I have no feelings. I’m useless.” All the while forcing Vegas to hold a knife to his throat.
Tumblr media
It’s the way Vegas utters, “Pete.” Helplessly, like it slipped out before he even knew what he was saying. Sexy, Vegas called him. Strong. “It’s no fun if you don’t choose.” He wants to know someone chooses him.
But Pete - “I don’t exist”, he’s not allowed to have feelings, or a choice. “I didn’t like it,” Pete whispers to himself - a confession. Private, secret. Pete asked himse, “Why didn’t I say no?” Because in his job, in his life, he’s not allowed to say no - not allowed to have a voice. And for all that Pete may have wanted Vegas, he didn’t want him - like this. No choice. No humanity.
This is Pete, unfettered. Raw. Unmasked. And Vegas can’t believe how blind he’s been. His mouth falters around silent vowels as his throat works to gasp in air.
It’s the way they wrestle for grasp of the knife, the way Pete screams “Let go!” and Vegas backs away instantly, hands raised and voice cracking - “Pete. Pete.”
Tumblr media
“We can start over,” he says, “Just you and me.”
But here it is, the line that wrecked me:
Tumblr media
“Need me? For emotional projection, like a pet with no feelings?” I initially read it as protection, but the implication is the same.
There is a parallel here between Vegas and Tankhun. I can’t help but think about Pete, and Arm and Pol, and how their job is laughed off as “babysitting”. Keeping the mad former heir happy and safe, emotionally stable in a realm of escapism. Just see how distressed Tankhun is without Pete (but, my love for Tankhun angrily whispers, he is distressed for Pete - although Pete doesn’t know this).
And isn’t that what the safehouse has been for Vegas? An escape? Where he has kept Pete like a pet. And isn’t that similar to how Tankhun keeps his bodyguards? Leashed to the newest kdrama. Think forward to how Tankhun makes literal dolls of Arm and Pol, to offer at Pete’s “funeral.”
With all that context, I keep thinking about Pete walking in, drunk, on Kinn and Porsche. He latched onto the easiest source of distraction, of emotional sedation, of relaxation for himself and Tankhun: alcohol. If he had truly had fun, he could’ve just gone to bed (and unknowingly left KinnPorsche to their semi-public sex kink). But he came back out, to talk to Porsche. To tell him of his evening. It sounds more and more desperate and lonely, the more I think about it.
So Pete feels like a glorified pet, and Pete has seen exactly how the lifespan of Vegas’s pets expire: in a cage. They are loved, but it is a desperate kind, born of anxiety. (My father had me care for them, Vegas said. All of them died, one by one.) And he just - can’t do it anymore. It was one thing, to endure emotionally. But physically? Giving himself up bodily to Vegas? It finally broke him.
Tumblr media
[”What the heck is this?!”]
Vegas’s flinch though as Pete lashes out. God, it’s a traumafest up in here.
And then - god, Build does such a good job at displaying the pure anguish Pete feels at attacking Vegas, touch flittering over him in apology while at the same time patting him down for the handcuff key.
Because at his core, Pete cares. And Pete - Pete knows Vegas knew that. That’s why he couldn’t accept Vegas’s plea - “Okay, Pete, just - promise me you won’t leave me.” It felt like a manipulation.
But Pete finally makes a choice. He chooses himself. He chooses self-preservation.
And he could just run, let’s not forget that. He could run. But he doesn’t. He goes back to the main family, because it’s what he knows. It’s safe. I suddenly realise how little Pete has. Bodyguard to the main family - that’s the only identity we really know. The only identity he knows.
He chooses to go back. That is the first choice Pete will make for himself.
The second will come much later - when he chooses his heart over his duty. Vegas was right, when he said his tattoo was a joke. It was just another shackle. Maybe he could get it replaced. I’m sure Vegas or Porsche know a guy.
The important point is: Pete chooses what his heart wants. And despite knowing all his flaws, he chooses Vegas anyway. Because he’s seen the good in him.
“It’s no fun if you don’t choose.” You’re right, Pete thinks. And I choose you.
...
But I can’t just leave it there. I have to circle back to Tankhun, because I can’t smear him like that. Honestly, I think Tankhun hides a lot from his bodyguards. Pete, unable to see the depths of him, feels toyed with. But Arm - I think Arm gets it. We see in the final episode, Arm and Tankhun have developed a toy together. It’s fun, it’s explosive, it’s unhinged yet makes an impact. Arm can see Tankhun for who he really is: the former heir, with all his faculties and training, burdened by trauma but not shackled by it. Not since Porsche came along. But ultimately, I think it’s a side of himself Tankhun only feels safe allowing his family to see, lest the minor family come for him again.
“He’s nosy,” Tankhun tells Porchay about Kim. “He gets that from me.”
Kim certainly is nosy. Conspiracy-theorist pinboard nosy. Tracking a dozen leads at a time nosy. He got that from Tankhun.
Let that sink in.
Then remember again, how Tankhun worried for Pete, and went to Kinn and Porsche - and Porsche - to air his worries. He only lets family see beyond his mask.
Again and again, I keep seeing these small signs: Porsche is family now.

Okay so the entirety of the WEBTOON is out and so is the KDrama. Both have, in fact, been out for a bit, but I needed to get my thoughts together. Obviously, if you haven't interacted with either piece of media, this is going to be a spoiler it. I'm specifically going to be talking about suicide and the way it's used in the WEBTOON as this particular character backstory and subsequent original death were both changed a lot. If you don't want to read about suicide, fictional or otherwise, or you don't want spoilers, please don't read on.
And if you want to know what's going on or want to know the full context of the WEBTOON because you've either never engaged with the material or have only watched the show? I recommend reading the comic on manhwa instead of WEBTOON since manhwa seems to be totally free. And in order to not take a while (plus lot of ads since you get 1 free chapter per day + 3 ad chapters that last 3 days) to read it there, you'll need the webtoon app and 15 bucks. And no matter what WEBTOON is gonna really yell at you if you do even a single screenshot.
Okay, to start off with, there are some things that don't change for Mr. Yu regardless of medium. No matter what, at the beginning he's seen as cold and distant. He's also extremely buttoned up and more than a little bit awkward around Jiwon to the point where he actually seemed suspicious to me at first because he was just always around when something was about to happen, and Jiwon did not know why that was happening, so neither did I.
It takes until chapter 46 of the WEBTOON for it to be revealed that Jihyeok also traveled back in time and died before. Up until that point, his goals and motivation are still somewhat mysterious. Even though they are like, fully dating by that point. But I don't consider that the biggest change. After all, the WEBTOON is from Jiwon's POV mostly, and the show took a much more widespread approach, which made sense. Also the show had to condense the entire comic into like, 16 episodes. That's a lot to get through.
So here are the things that I actually consider the biggest changes to his character and I promise I'll explain why those lead to the writer's choice of death for him making way more sense for that version to me.
1.) Jihyeok has known that he was romantically interested in Jiwon since before they officially spoke to each other in college. He even specifically saves Pang (the cat) because Jiwon liked that cat and he saw her interacting with that cat. He even saved the cat for her after Jiwon's ex poisoned the cat (yeah, she's literally always had terrible taste in men before Jihyeok).
2.) He quit his job at U&K after Jiwon married Minhwan in an attempt to move on because he still loved Jiwon. Probably wouldn't have been good to be the boss over the newlywed couple you're secretly like jealous over.
3.) The day Jiwon dies, Jihyeok goes to visit her because he learned she'd fallen ill. He sees her take a cab away from the hospital and isn't sure if he should go talk to her. And then he hears a scream and arrives just in time to see her die. He is devastated and arranges and pays for her entire funeral while wishing he could give his own life to go back to fix his own mistakes. Like literally. We get this information extremely clearly.
I think all of this combined with the fact that otherwise in his life, he's made no other choices for himself, makes Jihyeok killing himself make a sort of tragic sense. And also I've seen people say that there was 'no reason' for him to kill himself, and I've just got to wonder if the people who said that read that chapter at all. He literally says multiple times across 2 flashback chapters why he wants to die. Like I don't agree with suicide, but as someone who has battled, and is still battling, depression my entire life, and knows what it's like when it feels like your life has been kind of chosen for you? Going through a situation that he did has got to be devastating. Like in a completely soul crushing way. And if you have nothing to anchor you in life, it's not surprising when that life ends in heartbreak.
And from a literary standpoint there is something deeply tragic about a man who didn't truly make a decision for himself until it was too late and so the only choice he actually makes is how and when to die. The show has a different sort of tragedy in that he never decides how he lives or dies in the show for his first life. I believe my interpretation is further supported by the webtoon making his new life filled with choice. Like a lot of choices.
He is constantly making actual decisions in his new life.
He actually pursues Jiwon, he stands up for himself and others more at work, he actually ends things with Yura and gets her sent away pretty quickly (she doesn't die in the novel and straight up isn’t in the WEBTOON), and then he actually quits for the right reasons. He quits because he never wanted to run U&K in the first place, so he goes off to run his own company and leaves his sister to run it since she's the one who wanted that life. And she's better at it.
And I honestly think the show makes his character a little weaker for not having his arc focus on his choices, both good and bad. That's not to say he doesn't start making choices in the show, but it's more along the lines of 'I'll actually commit to this choice other people made for me'. Well, with the big exception being marrying Jiwon.
Jihyeok's decision to take his own life wasn't a good decision. It's not one I can agree with in real life, but from a writing choice, I like it for the story way more than a random car accident. I like the implications for the character and his arc way more if it's intentional. I think it's a stronger choice if this time he chooses to live and not to die. And also I really liked how it got then mirrored in Minhwan inadvertently killing himself with what was supposed to kill Sumin. I feel like overall the deaths in the WEBTOON in general, but especially with Jiwon, can be governed by the idea of choice, and the show lost that a little bit.
Also in the comic he literally opens his eyes and the first thing he hears and sees in his new life is Jiwon and you cannot tell me that's not the cutest fucking thing.

--- SPOILER ALERT OF THE FIRST RESPONDERS SEASON 2 EPISODE 3 ---
I want to be diligent and put screencaps in this post but when I think about it again, I don't think I can so here we go.
Dojin's sudden death is such a big plot twist that I never think will happen-- now I'm kind of mad, I will prefer the cheesy and useless love triangle rather than his tragic death.
But at the same time, I'm kind of impressed.
I do think the script writer has planned it from the first season. It isn't the big plot twist just for the sake of it, but Dojin is destinied to die (for the sake of the plot). It left a big impact, it made me love and hate the script writer for doing it to me.
What you can say? I love angst. It hurts so good. It destroyed me in the worst way possible, I hate it but I love it.
I do love how the director directed this drama. The episode 3 is so... darn painful but very beautiful done, even though I'm reluctant to admit it.
Dojin's death is tragic, but at least, not stupid.
It is very Dojin like.
A noble death, kind of.
I cried my eyes off for the entire episode. It was unfolded in a neat way. In a memorable way.
And here, in the first season, I thought Doujin will get into the trope of nice guy second male lead who will get a heartbreak but find a new love in the second season. I thought for sure Sol will choose Detective Jin, because his trope as the loner and suicidal bad boy MC is too fatal. But, I never thought their love triangle will end in this way.
Not with how Dojin confessed his love in the 'afterlife'. Not with how Detective Jin, secretly, took away the ring from Dojin's finger and put it on Sol, because he just knows.
Not with how after Sol woke up from her comatose state, the first thing Detective Jin did was telling her about Dojin's death. Not with how Detective Jin accompanied her to Dojin's grave because she missed the funeral.
It is like how Dojin knows how Sol has a soft spot for Detective Jin, but Dojin never acted childish about it. Instead, he respects her feeling, and focusing at how he can win her heart without slandering Detective Jin. Detective Jin also knows how Dojin loves her and how Sol regards Dojin as an important person.
The triangle love turned tragic but wholesome, it was so far away from a cliche and toxic triangle love story in most kdrama.
Heck, in alternate story, I won't mind for them to be in a polyamory relationship because those three are wholesome together.
And beside the tragic love triangle.
I'm saddened of how Detective Jin missed his chance to have a good friendship with Dojin. Well, their friendship has improved a lot, but not enough, for me. Detective Jin is so broken and he functions solely on negative feelings, it was almost hard to see. The ones who noticed it the most are Sol and Dojin.
Sol is healing him with her kindness and love,
And Dojin is giving him a strange but understanding friendship, where Dojin can perfectly follow Detective Jin's crazy thought.
For someone as broken as Detective Jin, I can tell how Dojin's death broke something inside Detective Jin more. He didn't show it because he can't show it unless the case is solved. But Detective Jin was very shaken up.
And it was sad.
He is an inch away to have a better friendship with Dojin, in the first and second episodes, they become quite close.
The episode 3 is such a wild ride because it is shown how everyone suffered with Dojin's death. He is an amazing person and he left a big impact for so many people.
The coroner who has a crush to Dojin.
I cried so hard when she cried.
I felt her. She maintained her professionalism to the end and finally shed tears when no one watching. Similar with the comannder of the fire fighter.
The episode 2 is about how people are worrying about Sol, so Dojin's death flew under their radar, well, our radar. It was beautifully planned by the director and the script writer. I'm upset but impressed.
Still, now that Dojin isn't there with them, this drama won't ever be the same. Now instead of trio, it only become duo... and more romantic (but also very painful)? I don't know honestly.
And here I hope the drama will end with Detective Jin healing with Sol's help and Dojin become his best friend that he doesn't know he needed.
I don't think I can ever rewatch this drama again because then I will cry everytime I see Dojin on screen.
He is one of the best second male lead I have ever seen. His death broke my heart to pieces.
And even though it will be hard to watch this drama to the end, probably I will still will. Because I know Dojin will still appear in flash back or hallucination later. But only for this second season.
If this drama continues into more seasons like the rumors said, I don't think I can watch more of this. Especially if Dojin's role is replaced by someone else, I can't bear to see it.
This is such an underrated drama, but I think not everyone can stomach how the second male lead died before the season 2 reach the climax so yeah...
Maybe I will write a fanfic about this drama, about Dojin, later. But now, I need to heal because Dojin's death give me such a trauma now.
F*ck u with love, script writer

hi, gei, welcome to aos party! (or funeral? 🥲 it's not rainbows YET). i absolutely don't mind you rambling in my tags, keep going I'm enjoying the rumbling
i also binged s1 in one week and now I'm obsessed with s2 I can't think of anything else. agree with you - constant switch of dynamic is so so entertaining i even enjoying amnesia plot and change in their relationship. absolutely love jang uk's development and I'm dying to see cho yeong with her memories. i really looking forward to how she would act having memories from all of her lives. I expecting another switch in dynamic and i just CAN'T WAIT like give me more!!!!
hiiiiiiiiiiiii jeyyyyy!!! thank god, i might continue but i’m trying not to overwhelm you or my dash so trying the small doses even though i’m not that type lmao.
i wasn’t even thinking of starting it to begin with. my tiktok decided it was time to send me some aos kdramaedit and i fell into that hole. here we are now, isn’t this the live of a kdrama lover though? the personality switch is what’s entertaining to me. idk why either, even though i kinda miss kiddo jang uk. he was adorable with his whining. also love love his development, i wish we could’ve seen a bit of that, especially since he uses naksu’s sword too. i can’t wait to see when she gets her memory back because it’s a mess up there??? i’m still confused with the body switch/whose memory we’re keeping situation. so, i can’t wait to see that. do you think we’ll have a more s1 dynamic back with something else mixed when she remembers? i gotta say i love this dumb clown cho yeong, especially all the shit she says and does but i am done with it. i need to seeeeeee jang uk’s reaction. idk, i think he might think it’s her but maybe he’s not sure yet? I DONT KNOW but yeah
as you noticed the difference in vibrancy compared to s1, it’s quite fun to see how it fits perfectly with jang uk’s feelings and how he expresses himself too. man, i love when kdramas uses parallels in a witty way.

게이PC방 “gay PC room” podcast recommendation - for intermediate/advanced korean learners looking for queer content 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈
Tumblr media
Highly recommend this podcast! This is the first time in my life I’ve ever truly enjoyed and looked forward to a podcast (including English ones).
They have four hosts, all of which are gay men in Korea, and they talk about a really wide range of topics with various guests. In season 3 they’ve been focussing on the “ordinary queer” life (some brief episode synopses at the end of the post), but in the previous seasons (which I’ve not listened to yet) it sounds like they talked about more activist stuff.
Their audio quality is excellent + they speak slowly and clearly (compared to other native podcasts lol). Minimal talking over each other. And their voices are nice to listen to! (No seriously the audio quality is amazing for an amateur podcast because they actually use a recording studio.)
The PC is a pun on the regular definition of PC방 lol, initially I thought they were going to be like… talking about computers? But in a gay way? 😂 but it actually stands for politically correct lmao i.e. they’re going to talk about things with as much sensitivity & respect as they can.
Overall, it’s super interesting, funny, and really just struck a chord with me, esp knowing how Korea is… hm… not very progressive 😬
Their main platform is 팟빵, but they’re also on google podcasts & Apple podcasts. Google podcasts is more user friendly but if you enjoy their content pls go support them on 팟빵 as well! (Also if anyone listens to it and wants to chat about it feel free to PM me! I’m dying to talk to find people to talk to about it. I can probably help you out if you don’t understand sth as well although my comprehension isn’t 100% yet)
~ some episode synopses under the cut ~
ep 52 was about korean bear culture (iirc one of the guests was a bear and the other one was a “stan” (i.e. “standard” guy) who likes bears. good discussions abt body image and stuff
ep 47 was a bit of a catching up w/each other type episode and covered things like attending uni during covid, funerals, korean and french holiday customs, something about christian organisations installing christmas trees in public areas and being bullied away last year(?) bc of people making civil complaints? the kdrama D.P. and korean military service in general, Q-Force
ep 46 talked a lot about kpop and the korean wave because the guest was a french dude who's doing a masters or something in korean culture (he mentioned that - idk if in this one or 47 - that he's looking into the differences between how intl and kr fans perceive homoeroticism in kpop, which i thought was cool)
ep 44 was them interviewing an openly gay korean artist http://yangseungwook.com/ (and going off on wild tangents lol)
ep 40 “queer in Taiwan”. Guest was a korean dude who’d been a tour guide in Taiwan for several years, talking about his experience. There was a good helping of politics as well. If you’re so inclined I recommend getting verified on 팟빵 (super quick, just need to email them a photo of your ID) so you can access the 19+ episode because it was hilarious.
ep 39 the guest was a korean currently living in America who’d gotten married last year. they talked about his life (how he met his husband, how the wedding went etc) in part 1 and then more on the broader issue of gay marriage in part 2.

My Mister. 나의 아저씨. 8.3/10
I would recommend this drama to my friends. I would rewatch this drama.
Even though the intro has a lot of snow, it makes the show seem so warm. I could tell I was going to love this show within the first few minutes.
Jung Jae Sung from Big Mouth and Prison Playbook is always a welcome face despite playing not great guys lmao. Nice to see Kim Min Seok from Start Up. Omg Kim Young Min from CLOY being trash. Omg Ryu Abel, what's up. She's still so pretty. Interesting for Now We Are Breaking Up's Jang Ki Yong to be this kinda character.
How does Ji An know Ki Beom? He's loyal too.
Life's homework of having someone to meet on New Year's and Lunar New Year's: noted. This young Ji An actress really be looking like young IU. Omg your company reading your texts through CCTV. Unheard of. Ji An monitoring Dong Hoon's phone calls are like how people joke about the FBI monitoring our online activity.
Gi Hoon pisses me off. He gets angry, makes baseless accusations, and does wrong things. It's interesting how he portrays real family so well though in my opinion. Both the other brothers are a bit unlikable (even though ultimately we love them). They're very immature. It's hard to have family that's family but have characteristics so unlike yours.
I cried at grandma's death. She is my favorite character. Grandma is a moon girl like me. Grandma is also a food girl like me.
All the things IU does with Ki Beom are so sly, slick, and kinda cool. She's malicious and intelligent. The things Ji An overhears through Dong Hoon's phone, it's probably like watching a kdrama unfold.
It's interesting how differently the three brothers think and yet find a common love for each other. Their thoughts on the afterlife are different and yet it all makes sense. What a fresh concept Dong Hoon said about reality being hell and he must've done something wrong in the past to end up here. I've though of reality as hell and I've thought of my current life being based on previous life somehow (not that I believe that) but it's fresh to really think that your current life is the afterlife. It's like the same things but with a slightly different perspective.
One of the best things is Ji An starting to care for Dong Hoon as she listens to his phone. How she starts physically chasing after his location, how she kinda relies on listening to the phone. I love Lee Sun Kyun in this kinda role. Very likable. Grandma is the MVP. Since she can't speak, I wonder what she's thinking about. Albeit great acting in showing me how she feels. I smile when Yoo ra smiles. It's genuinely happy. I love how the men understood her after her failure speech and loved her. It's beautiful because even though everyone sees Dong Hoon as a non-talking guy, he's very often vulnerable (esp, with Ji An), and I love that. I love Ji An and Dong Hoon eating and drinking in silence. Amazing how all of Dong Hoon's friends and bros ran to beat up who beat him up. What kinda crew. I'm not friends with enough loyal crazies to do that for me. It's beautiful how much of a crew all the friends are. So loyal and having each other's backs. I'm so glad they take care of Ji An too, especially at the funeral. Ji An's first thank you was so memorable to me. Kinda meek but sincere. She hasn't said a thank you this whole time. I really like the bag that the slipper gift comes in.
It's so tragic to see the whole Ji An discovering that her grandma can get free care thing. Because it's true. Without guidance, how do we know? And people who have money or parents who understand things don't get it.
Wow when Ji An started running to the Minette to confront Yoon Hee, I was like woah woah she's on the move she's on the move. Whenever Ji An runs I'm like yess!! feelings!! Her running when she overhears Dong Hoon asking for her and calling her pretty. I'm with it.
