Summary: Wei Ying is standing at the bus stop, shivering, as the snow keeps endlessly falling in thick flakes. He has been feeling slightly out of it ever since this morning, but he ignored it because he had to hand in an important report. Now, he’s regretting his decision to get up this morning at all. Kay's comments: A delightful story featuring fast burn Wangxian and minimal angst (but there's still angst and it's delicious) and Lan Wangji takes such good care of Wei Wuxian, which is all I want for both of them in life. In which Wei Wuxian has a fever and is out on the bus stop, but luckily Lan Wangji is there to take him home. Wei Wuxian is immediately enarmored with this handsome winter spirit who takes such good care of him and loves bunnies. They fall into a relationship and Nie Huaisang points out: Huh, is it a relationship or is he your sugar daddy? Cue misunderstandings. Excerpt: “You shouldn’t let strangers into your apartment,” he says. It’s a complete non-sequitur that makes Wei Ying laugh. Did he really wait to say this until the pot of food is almost ready to be eaten? “That’s rich, coming from you of all people,” Wei Ying tells him, but not in a mean way. Lan Zhan is right, obviously. You never really know what people are, and some of them are very good at hiding the ugly parts inside. Some people will show you a gentle smile and then beat you mercilessly once you put yourself in their power. It’s always a gamble, unpredictable and dangerous. But Wei Ying wouldn’t be here if he didn’t know how to trust. He would’ve never made it to this place if he hadn’t taken Jiang Fengmian’s hand that day and believed him when he said he was going to make Wei Ying a part of his family. There’s something about Lan Zhan that makes him want to trust, just like he trusted Jiang Fengmian. There’s a solidity, a steadiness to Lan Zhan that makes him seem implicitly trustworthy. At the same time, even here in this kitchen, in a setting as domestic as cooking a meal, he looks somehow removed from the mundane, from earthly concerns and malevolent scheming. Wei Ying feels that if he can’t trust this man, there is little hope left in humanity.

@kurowrites tagged me, which made me smile because ha, at least one person still thinks i’m writing!!! ahahahaha these last uh eighteen months have been Not Good, buddies, but i’m trying to get back into writing!!

i started this moshang piece (think what happened to secretary kim + secretary bai wants to resign every day au) when i was back home in m’sia, but god knows if when i’ll have it done :’)

Mobei Jun spares Shang Qinghua a glance. "Seems like you have learnt a lot in the past few years you've been with me."

"Of course, laoban," Shang Qinghua murmurs. What an arrogant brat! When he first took over the company, Mobei Jun knew nothing! Shang Qinghua had to do all his paperwork for him! Shang Qinghua still does the bulk of his paperwork! Arrogant, ungrateful brat! "This one has been so lucky to be blessed with the opportunity to learn from Mobei Jun from such a close distance."

Mobei Jun nods approvingly. "As a reward, you may stay back late to work with me on tomorrow's tender."

Reward?! In what world is that a reward?

No matter, he just has to get rid of this Linguang Jun meeting first. If he can just get rid of this meeting, he'll be able to give Mobei Jun his resignation letter, and then all will be right with the world.

“Fuck Robin!” Dick’s shout shocked Tim into a flinch and even Alfred startled. “Fuck Robin and fuck Nightwing and fuck Batman.”

Bruce paused in the doorway, caught in place by the sheer vitriol in Dick’s snarled words.

“Hell yeah,” Jason said from behind Bruce’s shoulder. “Fuck Batman.”

To be or not to be (a queen) by MiriRainbowitz (Oliver/Felicity, 2/2, 2022-04-26) - Felicity had had fairly ambitious life plans, but she'd never bothered to include "becoming Queen of a (small) European country when she turned 21". Still, she's not going to back away from her duty- especially now that some pretentious would-be usurper is trying to take her crown.

Complicated by m3m (Oliver/Felicity, 48/48, 2022-05-31) - Felicity Smoak is determined not to let her relationship with Oliver get complicated. She's been there, done that with a masked vigilante, and it ended very poorly, to say the least. But her plans are derailed by two things: her strong and unshakeable attraction to Oliver and Bruce's completely unexpected arrival at Queen Consolidated.

The One-Winged Crisis by Aragorn_II_Elessar (multifandom, several Arrow characters listed, 4/4, 2022-03-16) - Mar-Novu summons a powerful warrior to end the Anti-Monitor, but he didn't think it through, and now the Multiverse has to deal with an even greater threat.

The Archer, the Widow and the Purgatory by Bl4ckHunter (Oliver/Natasha Romanoff, 2/2, 2022-04-08) - When Oliver's wife, Natasha Romanoff and his friends and family are kidnapped by Adrian Chase who executes his endgame on Lian Yu, Oliver has to recruit allies and former enemies to save them.

DC Downfall by kuroWriter (Mia and Helena among characters listed, 13/13, 2022-04-03) - The DC ladies are captured, abused and murdered one after the other, by an unknown new enemy that seems to always be a step ahead of the ill-fated heroines

New Justice: Revenge Against the League by KarryCoMaster, KarryMaster (Kara Danvers/OFC, Sara/Tommy, Laurel/Oliver among side pairings, 12/12, 2022-04-10) - Crisis is over and life is returning to normal, but there are some loose ends from previous seasons that will come back to haunt the league. Who exactly wants revenge and what for?

Young And A Menace by SevenMinutesToMidnight (Barry Allen/Oliver, 7/7, 2022-04-26) - Barry is 16, on as many prescriptions as the doctor will allow for his ‘psychosis’, and furious with it. People who know, who saw his green smudge like paint, all say it's wasted on a freak like him. As much as he thinks about it, Barry is perfectly aware of how unwanted he is. Oliver Queen is 20, mindbogglingly rich, achingly beautiful, and high on the fast life. Most importantly though is that over the course of the night- as Oliver plies him with a rum and coke followed by more than a few Shirley Temples- Barry’s emerald green smudge begins to spell his name in a quick messy cursive script. It's a rather awe inspiring match to Oliver’s own red splotch spelling Barry’s name in his furiously quick chicken scratch.

Cleaning The Clocks by Crazy_Comet_97 (Digg/Oliver, 2/2, 2022-04-22) - It had happened so fast that he hadn’t noticed his heat had come and now, he was a mess. (A/B/O)

Burning Arrows by Crazy_Comet_97 (Oliver/OFC, 5/5, 2022-04-22) - British citizen Elizabeth Lestrade-Holmes, daughter of Mycroft and Gregory Lestrade-Holmes, was kidnapped off the streets of Westminster when she was 15 and was found in America 7 years later when she is 22 years old, but she is not the same Elizabeth who left. Cupid's Deadly Kiss by Batman_Batgirl_XXX (TottPaula) (Barbara Gordon-centric, Oliver/Felicity as side pairing, 8/8, 2022-05-09) - Barbara Gordon is known as cold and distant, and Bruce Wayne's rep says he's a womanizer. Barbara reluctantly agrees to be Bruce's date to a charity night after her dad begs her for a favor. It morphed into a delightful evening as they become acquainted. The Batsignal interrupts the night calling for Batman, and Batgirl answers as well, coincidentally, both heading to the exact unused room to switch identities! They fight a new criminal mastermind armed with tainted arrows, Batgirl is later struck down and collapses unconscious! Complications arise! Stay tuned to this tv channel, and don't touch that dial!

When Demon Hunters Meet The Arrow by The_Unlimited (Dean Winchester & Sam Winchester, Laurel/Oliver, 12/12, 2022-05-23) - Discovering a new job happening in Starling City, Sam and Dean decide to head up there despite all of the dangers of their resident vigilante. Pretty soon, they're working with that vigilante to search for the monsters they have to take out, and end up helping him discover the truth of more than a few of the problems happening to his city and to his family and friends. Maybe they should have let Garth take care of this one...

But things aren't nearly that simple. Huntress, Powerwoman, and Powerman were but the first to come from their Earth, and now Tim finds himself trapped in a plot he had hoped would never come to be. Secrets not even Tim fully understands come to light, and the Bats find the need to separate in order to properly piece the puzzle together, but it means putting each of them at risk, and every step they take can lead to a trap that could cost their lives. Or their sanity. Perhaps Dick's insistence that Tim make friends wasn't so misplaced after all.

Reasons Wretched and Divine by SevenMinutesToMidnight (Barry Allen/Oliver, 2/2, 2022-05-28) - When Oliver came to him and asked if he wanted to go on The Gambit for Robert’s trip, he’d said no. Barry has school to think about and he’s not about to intrude on a Father-Son outing with the Queens. He’s learned how to judge what trips he should go on. So, he says no. Tommy isn’t going and it's a trip to Hong Kong for actual business so obviously Barry has no reason to be there as Robert’s stand-in buddy or whatever. It’s not until Oliver looks at him and says, “I fucked up Bear.” Then proceeds to go into horrible detail about all the things he’s done to blow up his relationship with Laurel that Barry agrees to come. Oliver is hurting and while it's his own damn fault, Barry’s job has always been to be there for him. Even when it breaks his own heart. [Alternatively: AN AU of my AU where Oliver doesn't kiss Barry, which leads him to join Oliver on The Gambit]

Don't You Know Who I Used To Be? by SevenMinutesToMidnight (Barry Allen/Oliver, 8/8, 2022-05-27) - When he returns he brings the weight of grief as well as a motorcycle that’s black, sleek, and seems like it belongs in a car magazine and not the parking garage of their building. Barry tells her very quietly one day, “The bike, it's a Ducati. It was Oliver's. We- We used to ride it on days he didn’t drink. One time, I bribed him to come to one of his mother’s parties by telling him I’d learn to ride it. I was so upset about it. The party sucked so much I really didn’t want to learn." It's the first time he cries in front of her and Barry is 6 feet tall but he looks so small at that moment. All Iris can do is be there for him, holding his hand and it’s devastating and feels like she’s been thrown into water that’s far too deep to swim in but afterwards Barry thanks her so quietly she thinks she might have dreamed it. [Alternatively: Barry Allen through the years in the eyes of the people that love, or have grown to love him.]

Can’t remember where I was going with that, but A-Yuan’s pov on his early days in the Cloud Recesses

His name was a-Yuan, and he had been very, very sick. He did not understand all the words, but he understood fever. He also understood lucky, but when the nice man said it, it sounded like it meant something more than just about being sick.

The nice man was very nice. His name was Lan Xichen and he always tried to explain things to a-Yuan with words that he understood. He said that bad things had happened to a-Yuan’s old home, and now he had to live in this new place. He said no, a-Yuan would not be able to go back there when the bad things were over. He said, we will take care of you, and he smiled, and a-Yuan was glad for the nice man, even if he felt a little sad. Because of the fever, it was hard to think about home. Each day made it a little harder, but for now he still remembered that home had a lot of nice people. He missed them. But the people of the new place were nice too.

One of these people was the sad uncle. At first, when he was having the fever, a-Yuan always stayed with the sad uncle, because he was also very sick. His presence had been a comfort at the time. Now, a-Yuan was well again. The sad uncle wasn’t. He wouldn’t be well for a long, long, long time, the nice man said, and when he said that, he looked as sad as the sad uncle. For him too, people used words like fever and lucky, but they also used other ones that were more difficult, like punished and deserved and guilty and broken.

They said broken a lot.

Because a-Yuan was well and the sad uncle wasn’t, he had been told that he should let him rest. That was a very, very difficult order to follow, because the sad uncle and the nice man were the only people he knew. Everyone else looked at him funny, like they were a little angry. a-Yuan didn’t know why they were angry, and he didn’t like it. So he did what he always did at home, before the fever, and went to find someone to protect him. Since the nice man was very, very busy, that was usually the sad uncle. A-Yuan wasn’t allowed to be there, but if he made himself very small and very quiet, nobody noticed.

Sometimes, if a-Yuan was very lucky, the sad uncle would let him climb in bed and take a nap. It wasn’t allowed. They had both been scolded for it, but if the sad uncle saw him, he always held out a hand to invite a-Yuan to join him.

A-Yuan was always, always careful when they did this. The sad uncle (Lan Wangji, he was told, and he liked him so he made sure to know the name) was very, very unwell. Something had happened to his back. Something bad. Something that couldn’t be said in front of a-Yuan, and couldn’t be shown to him either.

I haven’t tried learning Chinese, but that photo is giving me flashbacks to university Japanese classes. Your characters are far neater than mine ever were! It looks good! Good luck with the rest of it (and don’t forget to rest your hand regularly if you’re gripping your pen so tightly!)

Bruh it looks better than MY writing, that’s for sure. I live in fear that my old kanji teacher ever sees my writing. She wasted all this time on me, only for me to write like an illiterate…

I am getting INTENSE Japanese essay writing flashbacks right now haha. And it doesn’t help that some of the kanji that looks the same as the hanzi actually have...very slight differences. Like one or two fewer strokes, or one stroke is longer in Japanese than in Chinese or vice versa. I catch myself writing the kanji instead of the hanzi and have to write it again hahaha

Edit: my mum just came in asking what I was doing and I’m like: 練字 and she finds it HILARIOUS that it has to take stories about two guys doing it for me to finally take my Chinese writing seriously.

Number 5 of Salty Asks: Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?

*exaggerated sigh*

OKAY, so, the thing is--it hasn’t full-on ruined the pairing. It’s not--I mean, I can still read Stony fics every once in a while. (PS if you haven’t read Sineala’s AMAZING fic, How to Date a Robot, the link is here and it’s NEW and she made it JUST FOR MEEEE go check it out!) But the thing is, it’s made me really, really sensitive about them?

If a fic lies right down that middle line, where it very obviously loves Steve AND Tony, I’m cool, but the slightest thing can set me off on it. I get these, like.... I don’t want to say “flashbacks” because real flashbacks are serious and can fuck you up, but... I’m right back there, post-CW, watching as a discussion of the whole movie is nothing but people I thought were my friends dumping hate on my favorite character, and I just... I don’t like that? I know, crazy, but--I really don’t like that!!! So I tend to avoid things that might make me feel that way. And that’s probably sad. And I probably shouldn’t. Toughen up, right? But the thing is...

We do this for love. Don’t we? That’s why I was doing it, anyway; because I love Steve Rogers, and I want him to be happy, and also along the way I would like him to have friendships and jokes and probably also orgasms. He’s a good dude!!! Albeit fictional. So I was in fandom because it made me happy, and then... it stopped making me happy. That one did, anyway. So I moved on.

I still read Stony fics. But not often, and only from authors I trust. If I’m in the mood. And I feel healthy. Because, if I’m wrong, and they start doing things that send me back to That Mental Place again, I gonna have to have the mental resources to get myself out of there. And if I’m going to be spending mental resources anyway, I’d rather it be on something I still enjoy.

So, less fandom ruining a pairing than fandom ruining a fandom, at the end of the day. But the pairing was a big part of how I consumed the fandom, so yeah, that’s mostly gone now.
