It is indeed that time. Album of the muthafuckin' year time. I've constructed Top 25 my list as follows: I decided to just choose a top album, and everyone else is tied for second place, even though the list is 2-25. Incidentally, these have all been in heavy rotation for the entire time I bought them. I highly recommend all!

Hath - All That Was Promised • What can I say about this album. I found Hath a few years back after their 'Hive' EP release, which is one of my all time faves. 'Of Rot and Ruin' came out in 2019 and surpassed expectations. How in the fuck, then, could they beat that... welp.

We Are Magonia - Triangle Unicode • Dark synth out of France.

Penny Coffin - ΣΚΕΛΕΤΙΚΟ ΣΚΟΤΑΔΙ • Scottish/Greek death metal. Heavy, grungy, beautiful.

Saor - Origins • Scottish melodic/folk black metal? Their catalog is very good.

Tyrannus - Unslayable • Amazing blackened thrash/death out of Scotland. If I were ranking, this album would likely be second spot.

Blackbraid I • One man Indigenous black metal from "USA"

La Armada - Anti-Colonial Vol. 2 • My Dominican punk brothers out of Chicago absolutely kill it.

Danger Mouse & Black Thought - Cheat Codes • Again, damned close to number 2 here as well. One of the most anticipated albums aside from Hath, and they did not disappoint.

Void Witch - Void Witch (EP) • Some awesome grinding death metal out of Austin.

Solicitor - All Debts on Death (EP) • Was sadly unaware of these guys right here in my back yard. Some badass Seattle thrash!

Mad Marge & The Troublemakers - It's a Mad, Mad World • Loved Mad Marge & The Stonebreakers; much the very same rockabilly greatness. Certainly the only band in this entire genre I listen to.

Devil Master - Ecstasies of Never Ending Night • Philly's great blackened death sounds.

Immolation - Act of God • This, their 11th? album is probably their greatest. A proper kick to the teeth.

Aethereus - Leiden • Some whip ass Tacoma techy proggy death metal or something.

OFF! - Free LSD • Obligatory add. OFF! never fail to disappoint. This album is a bit less old school 40-second-blast-songs punk than their previous records, and it's great!

Nechochwen - Kanawha Black • Some more Indigenous American metal outta the mid-Atlantic and nearby states.

Sierra - See Me Now (EP) • Lovely one gal dark wave, also from France.

Lividus - Tetany (EP) • Newer addition, but these ladies shred out of Portland, Oregon.

Tzompantli - Tlazcaltiliztli • Some Californian Mesoamerican Indigenous death doom. Good record, this.

Vermilia - Ruska • Lovely Finnish one gal pagan black metal! Very good catalog!

Temple of Void - Summoning the Slayer • Detroit OSDM. Sounds exactly like what you'd expect from Detroit OSDM. Amazing stuff.

Sol Messiah - GOD CMPLX • Another absolute gem out of the Rhymesayers Entertainment crew. Sol kills it.

Parius - The Signal Heard Throughout Space • This was another highly anticipated record from the Philly prog fellas. Produced by Jamie King (ala BTBAM) and you can hear the similarities. This record is an adventure!

FALSE FIGURE - CASTIGATIONS • Post punk greatness out of Cali. I absolutely love their sounds.

Björk - Fossora • Not much I can say about Björk that hasn't been said.

I would like to both curse and hug the person who put me onto KinnPorsche. Several hours (a week?) down the rabbit hole of what was quite honestly one of the best dramas I've watched in a long time. Now I've got a new obsession to add to the list.

Didn't expect it to be hilarious. Didn't expect the chemistry and hotness of the characters and their scenes. DID NOT EXPECT TO BE A GOOEY PUDDLE OF MUSH OVER THE DEVELOPMENT AND LOVE STORY OF KINNPORSCHE!

Now I'm following MileApo because their friendship & closeness is the most adorable thing (several hours down the rabbit hole I tell you)

Serotonin overload just watching them, which I so desperately need lately. So maybe I just wanna hug whoever put me here. Sadly I can't remember who it was cause you forget a lot when you don't sleep often plus suffer fibromyalgia related brain fog.

 The Intended Voyage of The Girona

Some incomplete notes:

A work in progress based partly on the sinking of the Spanish Galleass ‘La Girona’ off the County Antrim coast in 1588. The Girona was part of the ill-fated Spanish Armada and foundered on the rocks off Lacada Point as it was headed eastward in the hope of finding refuge in Scotland. There were an estimated 1,300 on board The Girona which had been designed for a crew of 300 and among those were slaves from Central and South America and sailors from two other Armada wrecks, ‘La Rata Santa Maria Encoronda‘ and ‘Dunquesa Santa Anna’*. There were nine survivors.

* La Rata Santa Maria Encoronda had run aground in County Mayo and the survivors marched the 25 miles to where they knew the Santa Anna to be anchored. The crew boarded and the Santa Anna set sail only to be wrecked off the coast of Donegal on the 28th September.

The title comes from a ring found on the wreck site made from conquistador gold which says ‘No tengo mas que dar te’ - ‘I have nothing more to give thee’

Although The Girona actually sank off Lacada Point (Port-na-Spaniagh) the foreground represents Torr Head which is to the east. Torr Head was the sight of a sixth century cashel and in the 1800′s was important for recording the passage of transatlantic shipping for Lloyds of London.

There was a small salmon fishery at Torr and I remember being taken out in an old US army amphibious truck to see the net and a basking shark that had got caught up in it. There was a shed at the back of the slipway that was full of old US Army equipment reputedly left behind when they pulled out from Derry after the Second World War.

La vi con mi mejor amiga y, no te voy a mentir, me gustó mucho. Por supuesto eso no significa que fuera perfecta, se tomaron varias libertades que en mi opinión no sumaron mucho (por ej inventan que padre e hijo sospechan que la pareja de la hija pueda estar sacando info). La verdad que la nota tiene razón, en lo que respecta a el héroe reticente y la llamada de la madre no lo pensé como cliché o no, pero porque no sabía si era algo que realmente pasó de esa manera o si era simplemente eso, un cliché. Cuestión hay varias cosas para criticar, sobre todo las preguntas que en la nota se hacen y que en la peli no se responden. Así en general me pareció una buena peli, con buenas actuaciones, vestuario y escenografía (mi parte cinéfila y que estudie un poco de cine se fijan mucho en eso😅) pero podría ser mejor, no apela al diálogo o a cuestionar cómo y por qué una dictadura tan sangrienta fue posible, sino que cuenta más bien una historia siguiendo un momento histórico, está muy lejos de ser documental. Obvio que no es algo en lo que me especialice, como vos, hablo desde mi poca experiencia relacionada al cine y falta de conocimientos de las cosas más puntuales del juicio a las juntas, claramente vos la vas a poder analizar mucho mejor y más puntualmente que yo
