other people may be too scared to have hermes get sucked into the azem friendship circle but not me i think hythlo and hermes could make pretty decent ''were not friends but were in the same room so often that if i got my foot trapped in a window i would call you over to come help me instead of getting embarassed in front of the fire department'' comradery. when althaea has rats in her apartment and doesnt wanna kill them but gets scared theyre going to eat her maggots she makes them come over (hades wants nothing to do with it) and while althaea is busy choking back sobs theyre standing in her kitchen trying to move her fridge because they saw it go back there and they think its made its hole/nest there but neither of them can really get it moving, and theyre trying really hard to move this fridge and they know they cant just unmake it because althaea is very particular about her shit so hythlodaeus is using his amaurotine brittle bones to try andget this ice box MOVING and hermes is like hold on maybe i can get behind it and push it out and this is where they find out elpis researches are shredded because they have to tackle creatures twice their size, so heres hermes getting up on the kitchen counter and trying to stick his hands as far back behind the fridge as possible and hythlo trying to help by grabbing from the lower bottom sides to make it do a scoochie but little do they know hermes is about to produce a force not unlike that of a polar bears bite and the fridge moves forward just enough to scare hythlo into thinking the fridge might fall on him but it actually just rocks a little as it scoots forward. enough for them to find the hole in the wall the rat lives in and with a bit more wiggle room hermes can jump behind the fridge and push it back farther with his back while hythlo scrambles to get up on his feet. and now whence the fridge is out of the way and the hole is made they recognize that they had no plan for if they actually found and hole and just look at eacher before hermes proffers that they can just. stick their hand in the hole and see whats up. and hythlo is like is this what you do on elpis? and hes like yes. for golphers. and hythlos like golphers? and hes like dreadful golpher problem yes. and with nothing else to lose hythlo takes initative and sticks her hand in the hole and is actually sort of horrified to actually touch the mouse. and once again althaea (and hermes) take issue with just blowing up animals to aether so now hythlodaeus has a hand full of mouse (roof rat actually) with his arm elbow-deep in his girlfriend's wall and he doesnt know what to do. so he just slowly extracts the mouse out which makes althaea cry harder because now its PROOF she had a MOUSE IN HER HOUSE and her POOR BUGS WERE IN DANGER and she was a horrible bug mom to let them be in this danger. while hythlo holds a dusty roof rat in his hand. and hermes asks for the mouse and with nothing else to really do he hands it over and watches hermes slowly approaches althaea with it which only makes her start wailing harder until he waits for her to calm down enough to show her the mouse and start telling her about them and how they primarily feed on seeds and berries and were probably attracted to her bad habit of eating walnuts in bed. and he eventually calms althaea down enough to get her to hold the mouse and shes like Theyre sorta cute up close..... and she starts talking to it and looking at it in its big ol eyes before saying something like this shouldnt live in the city where it can get hurt but she'd feel horrible taking it so far away from the only home its known to a scary place like a big field but she cant have it in her house cause all of her little maggot children might be scared of them
and hythlodaeus knows whats coming and his shoulders flinch backwards cause he can never say no to althaea asking him to house a poor little creature at their apartment for her and that she promises to come over and feed it and bath it and watch over it she just needs it to live at hythlos place. and this is the closest theyll get to having children. so what surprises him even more is when she turns to hermes instead and asks him to house that mouse and hes surprisingly accepting of this and takes the mouse and says hell care for them and then althaea holds the mouse while they set her fridge back to rights and during it hythlo cant help but feel a bit jealous that hermes got to take the animal this time because of said elaborate bullshit about this type of thing basically being the closest he'll get to having children with althaea but he blows this off because its one of those intrusive thinking patterns that he doesnt actually believe in and hermes isnt a threat to their relationship hes just a good friend and someone althaea is really enjoying having around since they met long ago when hermes first visited elpis as a child and althaea got to meet another kid and hang out with him after living at the cthonic horns with just her sister to play with for thousands of childhood years. so its like a heartwarming reconnecting moment where two kids who briefly met and thought theyd never see each other again get to be friends as adults and the mouse is like a welcome back gift between althaea and hermes. but hythlo goes home and has a nightmare about a fridge falling on him

I no longer wish to be good
I think I'm tired of being good.
no, not that way, morality is a distant, dizzy thing laced tight with both bias and betterment, no, what I mean to say is I'm tired of trying to be something, anything, that isn't myself.
I lose myself, a race I've always fled into, bleeding into a blur, into cracks, into concrete, until I feel my knees shake and shatter, creaking and crunching beneath my skin like orange peels holding cracking walnut shells.
I've always been this way, well, most of my life. I've gotten good at shaking off my skins to slip all the ugly, bitter, screaming, sobbing little parts of me away between book pages, among lyrics, along clothes wires, and silk seams, and makeup too dark like muddy earth, with shimmering facets along a dirty canvas, scarred, and scheming, brittle and bony, too soft, too old, too young. never, never enough.
I'm so good at running from myself. call me Atalanta, for not even a golden fruit dripping in nectar and ambrosia can stop this madness, this terror, this cowardice.
I try to stare into the mirror without wanting to curl into my ribcage and never come back out. I'm all sharp teeth and shining jewels wrapped tight around my throat like a noose until it bruises, I'm always losing, but at this point I'm not even sure what game it is were playing. I've never know. hopscotch or old maid? I've always been good at checkers I wanted to learn chess but the movements and the pieces slipped out through the cracks in my mind and I'm left holding a pawn and looking down at it in pity.
I will never become a queen.
the cold piece of plastic looks back up at me too, and murmurs softly in the quiet echo of my insanity,
"no, you wont.-
-but would you even want to be?"
I've tried lacing myself into other roles scenarios, acts.
frivolent and follied, soft, sensitive, brash and choking back laughs that if you listen close enough to you'll realize they are sobs. I'm selfish, gods in selfish, I don't want to be.
I'd slip out my spine if someone asked me nice enough but it isnt kindness, is it? How I truly, desperately want to be kind but it's a sordid self destruction.
I want to run, I've always been the victim because I refuse to be whats worse, so if I go quietly a sacrifical lamb all soft and placid led by the collar I will be as far away from what those who made me like this are.
I want to feel again, gods I'm so empty, and aching.
when I was little before I was fractured into a million tiny fragments I was color, all bright hues saturated and shining, but then I grew muted placing aside and organizing every little shard like Kronos rebuilding himself from scratch.
I tried dying myself in turqoise, soaking myself in satin, anything, just to be interesting, not hollow, hollow, hollow.
I've never fallen in love, not truly. love hurts like an aching wound I'm so tired if trying to force myself to feel or feel less.
soft lips and tender caresses only dawn has pressed her lips to my forehead not even Night wants me anymore.
I miss my grandmother, I miss my cat, I miss myself.
I'm tired of running, goddamnit all.
I want to accept what I am, a broken poet, I want to read, let my hair be fine and frizzy, and the awful muddy hue it is, my skin pallid and poked with scars and pores, my dead eyes searching upwards how I've always dreamed of being lovely but I am perpetually hiding behind allegories, and coat sleeves never letting anyone close yet sobbing into myself when no one manages to ever truly see me.
I don't even know what I am, but I want to live, I've wasted too much time I live in the past by a lopsided hourglass how do I wake from this nightmare?
I dont have things terrible but I'm tired of waking and sleeping and falling and failing in this same redudant pattern.
I want to fall, and fail, and forget about whatever sorry means of perfection I could never reach.
I want to be unapologetic, and sensitive, sharp and soft, studious and unruly. I want to be, to be, to be.
I want moonlit drives and strawberry ice cream and dandelion crowns and stars mapling out like freckles on your cheeks I want soft hands and tender bruising kisses I want chapped lips and bloody knuckles, scraped knees and willow trees, acorn hats and tabby cats, saplings and sunshine, golden jewelery and golden hair, laughter and weeping, lying in a sun puddle on a carpeted floor, the scent of dust and freedom, trying, flying, searching but not fleeing gods I want to live.
I want to be.
whatever the hell I am.
I'm really tired of being good.

Ernst Burke
Tumblr media
A/N: You thought I was done with the Burke Family 😏😏🤣🤣. Well Ladies and Gentlefolk, you are to be proved wrong! because guess what?! This family is big and I mean BIG! They have one huge web of a family tree. But that is to be discussed in another post later. Today we discuss the oldest Burke brother and sibling, Ernst Burke.
Name: Ernst Adeodatus Richard Burke

Name Meaning: Serious or Battle unto death (I'd say 78% of his personality)

Physical Appearance.
Tumblr media
Face Claim: Daniel Sharman

Skin Colour: Pale Ivory
Style: The usual upper-class wear of the late 19th century and early 20th century. Has at least one million ties for every occasion cus he loves them 🤣
Personality: Myers -Briggs Type: ENFJ-A, (the protagonist)
Strengths: Reliable, Receptive, Altruistic and Charming.
Interest/Hobbies: Ancient Art, playing the violin, Stamp collecting.
Weaknesses: Overly empathetic, Intense, condescending.
Distinguished marks:
a scar on his elbow from when he fell while playing football for the first time.
History:
Ernst was born, Ernst Adeodatus Richard Burke to an ancient and powerful pureblood family, the house of Burke. Being the First-born son, his birth was celebrated with great delight by both of his parents. His father had high hopes for him, to become a man exactly like him; a man of power. For most of his young life, Ernst tried his uttermost to live up to his father's expectations, meeting the people he wanted him to, and making relations with those his father wanted to.
But then he had an epiphany. Gradually a slight rebellious streak peeked through in his personality, understanding that his father was in the wrong. As a man, he soon became a natural leader, a man always ready for debate yet reserved and observant.
At a young age, his parents disowned his younger brother unbeknownst to Ernst who grew up without the knowledge of his younger brother. He was a protective and loving brother who scolded his siblings when they were in the wrong yet was always up for a game of charades with them. In his third year, he met with his estranged brother, Albert and they both immediately formed a lifelong strong bond.
At the age of 25, he married a close friend and the love of his life Loise Greengrass. And his story continues thus.
Witchcraft:
1st Wand: Black Walnut wood, 11 inches, unicorn hair core, brittle flexibility.
Less common than the standard walnut wand, that of black walnut seeks a master of good instincts and powerful insight. Black walnut is a very handsome wood, but not the easiest to master. It has one pronounced quirk, which is that it is abnormally attuned to inner conflict, and loses power dramatically if its possessor practises any form of self-deception. If the witch or wizard is unable or unwilling, to be honest with themselves or others, the wand often fails to perform adequately and must be matched with a new owner if it is to regain its former prowess. Paired with a sincere, self-aware owner, however, it becomes one of the most loyal and impressive wands of all, with a particular flair in all kinds of charmwork.
Unicorn hair generally produces the most consistent magic and is least subject to fluctuations and blockages. Wands with unicorn cores are generally the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. They are the most faithful of all wands, and usually remain strongly attached to their first owner, irrespective of whether he or she was an accomplished witch or wizard.
Animagus Form: None
Patronus: A Barn owl
Patronus memory: His first quidditch at Hogwarts match to which all his family had come and cheered for him.
Later Patronus memory: His newly formed family including all of his siblings and their families spending Christmas together.
Boggart: to be determined
Riddikulus: To be determined.
Amortentia (what does he smell like?): whiskey, fresh grass, a warm fire, cinnamon, ironed shirt
Amortentia (what does he smell?): honey, gardenias, Scottish valley, fresh river water, musty silk
Magical Abilities: none so far
At Hogwarts
Hogwarts house: Slytherin
Best Subjects: Defence against Dark Arts, Potions, Charms, Flying

Relationships
Family:
Albert Burke:
When Albert came into the world, Ernst saw it as a great responsibility of his to take care of his adorable little brother. All his young days were spent playing and having the best of his days with Albert. But suddenly, Albert was gone, confusing Ernst, who was four at the time. But his parents told him that Albert was a distant cousin who left after his parents came back to get him. Ernst had no choice but to believe them. But, eventually, on one fateful day in his fourth year when he met a young boy whom he found out to be his long-lost brother. The boys although very different in personalities, Ernst being a natural leader and Albert being a shy youngster, soon grew an unbreakable and close bond well till their old age.
Alexander Burke:
The mischievous yet hooly jolly little brother. Ernst and Alexander were almost polar opposites the latter being rambunctious while the prior being rather sober. And truth be told Ernst did go to great lengths to get his younger brother out of all of his mischief in all of his younger days, but they still love each other (even though Ernst still hasn't forgiven him for stealing his favourite book and using the pages to make paper boats).
Cordelia Burke:
While Ernst adored his younger sister, Cordelia grew up always striving to be like her oldest brother. Although as they grew older their relationship was strained due to Cordelia's harsh comments about their brother Albert and sister Octavia. But eventually, Ernst accepted her apology and worked towards fixing their relationship.
Octavia Burke:
The first time when Ernst heard about Octavia joining the forces of you-know-who, he felt the most betrayed. He adored his little sister, who never failed to charm him. They spent many days during Ernst's time before Hogwarts walking under the stars and having the time of their lives. But the relationship came to an abrupt end after her downfall to evil.
Aurelian And Gwydion Burke:
As the first-born son of the family, Ernst's parents had HUGE expectations for him. For most of his life, Ernst spent trying to impress his father and mother. Finally, he saw the light, understanding he did not have to live his life trying to live up to his father's impossible standards but more trying to be himself. He finally came out of their shadow and found his true self. His mother had a slightly better relationship with him and he was the last one she spoke to before her passing.
Love Interest:
Lady Louise Florence Greengrass (profile coming soon): The sweet and gracious lady Louise charmed the heart of many men in her days, but the one who charmed her heart was Ernst Burke. The two fell head over heels for each other but had to wait until Louise was 20. Finally, they both Married two years after Ernst graduated, and they both built a happy family. Louise was a calm-minded person, who always helped Ernst let out his frustrations, while Ernst was always there to accompany her adventures into the forests and hillsides of Scotland. She was a liberal, brave and strong-hearted woman who never ceased to amaze Ernst.
Friends: Requests are open for his friendships!
Enemies: Requests are open for this too.

------------------
Jamie Kirk’s short brown curls splay across the hospital pillows in a wild abandon that matches the preferred state of their owner. Today, though, she lies perfectly still, with no drumming fingers or bouncing knee to mark her as Jamie Kirk, unstoppable object. Stillness is an anathema to Kirk, and the sight of her laying in drug-induced placidity drives needles into McCoy’s heart.
Kirk doesn’t have any needles left in her, of course; the IV cocktail of drugs necessary to keep her body from tearing itself apart while Khan’s blood integrates itself with her system feeds neatly into a cannula in her arm. The IV system itself is fairly medieval technology, but Kirk is, of course, allergic to anything trying to keep her alive.
McCoy settles into her chair, watching Kirk’s vitals scroll across the screen connected to the biobed, a serene seismograph of calm and continuous activity. At last, she sees the mountain range of her heart rate rise from a sedate 52 to 56, 61, 65, with Kirk’s breathing rate and body temperature following similar slow inclines. McCoy moves closer to the bed, reaching out two fingers to seek, unerringly, the beat of Kirk’s heart in her wrist. It’s an old habit from southern Georgia, where the old guard still have a distrust of the infallibility of technology carved into their bones.
Focused on the pulse beating across her fingers like ocean waves on the sand, McCoy almost misses when Kirk first opens her eyes. Kirk usually springs awake in the morning, horribly cheerful and already more energetic than McCoy is after her third cup of coffee. Now, though, Kirk’s eyes open slowly, groggily, struggling to keep her eyelids in a full upright and locked position. She has to try twice to focus on McCoy’s face.
“Hey, Bones,” she croaks, her voice rasping through her throat like sandpaper skating across a desert.
“Hey, yourself,” McCoy says, as soft and gentle as she knows how, and she passes over a cup of the gel-pack lozenges that are really just medicated ice chips. Kirk groans.
“Pain?” McCoy snaps, already calculating morphine totals in her head while reaching for her hypo.
“No, no.” Kirk laughs, a dry rattle of a thing that pulls McCoy up short. “It’s just that you’re being nice to me. That’s never a good sign.”
McCoy glares while gesturing for her to suck on a glorified ice chip, trying and failing not to put her hands on her hips in the way Sulu says looks matronly. “Got plenty of anger in here too, darlin’,” she says, voice still quiet, but edged in a hardness that brooks no quarter. “Fortunately for you, I’ve got more patience than that walnut you call a brain has ever held.”
“You? Patient?” Kirk says, grinning, and her teeth are starting to stain just a little blue from the medication designed to hydrate and reduce soreness in a recently-intubated throat. McCoy’s glare deepens at the reminder.
“I think I’ve been more than patient with your antics,” McCoy grumbles, turning away from Kirk to fiddle with a hypospray. Because of the IV, McCoy hasn’t been able to justify stabbing Kirk once with a hypospray. She’s irritated at being deprived of even this small revenge on Kirk for trying, once again, to martyr herself for the good of the universe.
A pale white hand flops on top of hers: the skin is pocked with the faint shimmer of new skin over red burns, and the nails are brittle and nearly translucent. McCoy makes a mental note to check the nutrient transfer capacity of Kirk’s healing intestinal system, then looks up.
“Thank you, Bones,” Kirk says, her voice slow and sincere even though her eyes are glassy with exhaustion, and McCoy’s heart lodges firmly in her throat.
“You gotta stay with me, kid,” McCoy chokes out, turning her hand over and lacing their fingers together. She can see Kirk’s heart rate starting to drop back down into the rhythms of a natural sleep.
Kirk manages to squeeze McCoy’s fingers even as she’s dropping off. “Tryin’,” she slurs, and McCoy holds on as tight as she dares.
“Try harder,” she says, emotion coloring her words in a way she would never allow if Kirk were awake. McCoy’s been here every minute of the last week and a half, through every flatline and code blue, and she’s so, so tired. She’s tired of this room, and she’s more tired of Kirk throwing herself into the gaping maw of danger every chance she gets.
Kirk doesn’t answer. Her heart rate is a peaceful mountain range, shallow and slow, as even and worn-down as the Appalachians of the home McCoy hasn’t seen in seven years.
“Try harder,” McCoy repeats, low. “If not for you, then for me.”

A Comprehensive Guide to Naturally Preventing Hair Loss
Tumblr media
Introduction : Hair loss can be a distressing experience, affecting both men and women of all ages. While there are numerous treatments and products available on the market, many people prefer to take a more natural approach to tackle this issue. In this comprehensive guide, we will explore a wide range of natural methods and remedies to help you prevent hair loss and promote healthy hair growth. From dietary changes to lifestyle adjustments and herbal remedies, we've got you covered with effective strategies that can make a real difference in maintaining your luscious locks.
Section 1: ( The Role of Nutrition ): A well-balanced diet is fundamental to healthy hair. Essential nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals, and proteins, play a crucial role in hair growth and strength. Incorporating the following elements into your diet can significantly reduce hair fall:
Protein: Hair is primarily composed of a protein called keratin. Ensure you have an adequate intake of lean proteins like eggs, fish, lean meats, and legumes.
Iron: Iron deficiency can lead to hair loss. Include iron-rich foods such as spinach, lentils, and red meat in your meals.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids: These healthy fats found in fatty fish (like salmon and mackerel), walnuts, and flaxseeds can promote scalp health and hair growth.
Vitamins: Vitamins such as A, C, and E are essential for healthy hair. These can be found in foods like sweet potatoes, citrus fruits, and nuts.
Biotin: Biotin, also known as vitamin B7, is crucial for hair health. It's found in eggs, nuts, and leafy greens.
Section 2: ( Proper Hair Care ) The way you care for your hair can have a significant impact on hair fall. Here are some natural tips for maintaining healthy hair:
Gentle Washing: Avoid frequent and aggressive hair washing, which can strip your hair of its natural oils. Wash your hair every 2-3 days with a mild, sulfate-free shampoo.
Scalp Massage: Regular scalp massages can improve blood circulation and stimulate hair follicles. Use natural oils like coconut or almond oil for added benefits.
Natural Hair Products: Opt for natural and chemical-free hair care products. Harsh chemicals in shampoos and conditioners can weaken hair over time.
Avoid Heat Styling: Reduce the use of heat styling tools like straighteners and curling irons. If you must use them, apply a heat protectant spray.
Wide-Toothed Comb: When detangling your hair, use a wide-toothed comb to prevent breakage.
Section 3: ( Lifestyle Changes ) Our lifestyle choices can have a profound impact on hair health. Making the following adjustments can contribute to preventing hair loss naturally:
Stress Management: Chronic stress can lead to hair loss. Practice stress-reduction techniques such as meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises.
Adequate Sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night. Sleep is essential for hair repair and growth.
Hydration: Stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Dehydration can make hair brittle and prone to breakage.
Smoking and Alcohol: Both smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can negatively affect hair health. Reducing or quitting these habits can benefit not only your hair but your overall well-being.
Physical Activity: Regular exercise can improve blood circulation, which is beneficial for hair follicles. Find an activity you enjoy and make it a part of your routine.
Section 4: ( Herbal Remedies and Supplements ) : Herbal remedies have been used for centuries to promote hair growth and prevent hair loss. Some popular options include:
Aloe Vera: Aloe vera gel can be applied to the scalp to reduce dandruff and promote hair growth.
Hibiscus: Hibiscus flowers and leaves are known for their hair-strengthening properties. You can make a paste and apply it to your scalp.
Fenugreek: Fenugreek seeds can be soaked overnight and made into a paste for scalp application. They help strengthen hair roots.
Saw Palmetto: This herbal supplement is believed to block the hormone responsible for hair loss (DHT) and is often used to combat hair loss in men.
Conclusion
Preventing hair loss naturally requires patience and consistency in implementing these strategies. Remember that results may vary from person to person due to genetics and other factors. By nourishing your body with the right nutrients, adopting a healthy lifestyle, and using natural hair care methods, you can reduce hair fall and promote a healthier, more vibrant mane. Embrace these natural remedies, and you'll be well on your way to enjoying stronger, more resilient hair.

5 Best Foods to Include in Your Diet for Healthy Hair
Tumblr media
Some people are blessed with healthy hair from birth, but only a few others maintain their hair in a healthy manner over time through regular hair care routine. Your inner health might be indicated by the texture of your hair, which can be dry, frizzy, smooth, or silky. To make your hair long and strong, you must regularly nourish each strand with minerals and vitamins. We’ll look at five of the greatest foods to add in your diet to encourage healthy hair. Let’s hop in to discover more.
1. Nuts and Bolts of Healthy Hair
Tumblr media
Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that helps shield hair follicles from oxidative damage brought on by free radicals, is abundant in nuts such as almonds and sunflower seeds, among others. They are also a rich source of biotin and vital fatty acids, which help to strengthen and shine hair. Biotin, healthy fats, and minerals like zinc, which both promote hair development and stop hair loss, are abundant in peanuts
Walnuts are another excellent source of Omega 3 acids. These not only assist in preventing breaking but also protect you against changes in the way your hair ages and wears.
2. Leaf it to Spinach for Spin-worthy Hair
Tumblr media
Spinach, the leafy green bursting with vitamins A and C, which are necessary for the creation of sebum, a natural hair conditioner, which ensure that the hair follicles are properly nourished. Besides it is packed with iron and zinc, as well as folate and beta carotene that support good blood circulation to the scalp, thus working together in the creation and maintaining of a healthy scalp and mane. Moringa leaves too are rich in nutrients like folate, iron, and vitamins A and C that ensures healthy hair.
3. Egg Your Way to Enviable Locks
Tumblr media
Eggs are a great supplier of protein, biotin, and important minerals like zinc and selenium. One vitamin particularly known to encourage hair nourishment and prevent hair loss is biotin. Protein is the building block of hair and eggs are one of the richest natural sources of protein. The protein keratin, which makes up the structure of hair, is also found in eggs, making them a fantastic choice for healthy hair.
4. Yogurt Yields Yummy Hair
Tumblr media
Curd or yogurt, a mainstay of Indian cuisine, is a hair-saving miracle, thanks to its probiotic and anti-inflammatory characteristics. Yogurt also contains a component that promotes healthy blood flow to the scalp and hair growth along with aiding in the prevention of hair loss and thinning. Applying yogurt externally is a fantastic idea as well. It can calm down your scalp when used as a hair mask, while also moisturizing and revitalizing your hair.
5. Sweeten Your Strands with Sweet Potatoes
Tumblr media
The antioxidant Beta-carotene, which the body transforms into vitamin A, is abundant in sweet potatoes. This vitamin is necessary to keep the scalp healthy and encourage hair growth. Dry, itchy scalp and hair issues might result from a vitamin A shortage. Additionally, it stimulates your scalp’s glands to produce sebum, which prevents hair from drying out. Carrots, pumpkin, cantaloupe, and mangoes are also good sources of beta carotene.
It's crucial to pay attention to your nutrition if you want to care for your scalp and maintain healthy hair. Although not a food, drinking enough water is essential for healthy hair too. The hair follicles obtain the nutrition they require for growth and strength with assistance of water in transporting vital nutrients to them. Make sure to consume enough water each day because dehydration can result in brittle, dry hair. Keep in mind that your hair's health and look can be significantly impacted by your regular, long-term dietary decisions. Lets keep a check on your diet for gorgeous, healthy tresses.

Songbird (Pt. Three)
A lone siren realizes her echo isn't her own. It's that of Echo, invisible and only able to repeat the words of others. They find a way to grow close anyway... and to break some curses.
Part One
Part Two
---------------------
“The rain’s too strong,” Ligeia says, squinting at the dreary drizzle outside. “I don’t think I can fly in that.”
“We can wait,” Echo says. “All we need is something to do.”
Ligeia chuckles. “When I find a library, I’ll let you know.”
“You like to read?”
She sinks back into her nest, pulling her wings close. “I did. My mother had scroll after scroll of poetry. All the songs and verses you could ever want,” she sighs.
“Your mother sounds like a lovely person.”
“She was. But we have no scrolls here. Though… I do remember them. Maybe…” Ligeia pauses, realizing what she’s about to propose. I haven’t done that in so long, she thinks. Not since with her.
But Echo is right there, patient and soft. She smells like the rain outside, but sweeter — with a hint of jasmine.
“…we could take turns telling stories?” Ligeia suggests.
“I don’t know many stories, though.” Echo gusts past her to rustle in the corner, scooping up discarded walnut shells. “We should use these for something. A game?”
“Why don’t I supply the stories, and you supply the contest?”
The wind grows lighter and looser. “It’s a date,” Echo teases.
***********
“See, this is why you’re my favorite.” Mistress giggles behind her hand. “Please, could you sing more to me tonight?” Her eyes shine a soft green, her skin aglow in the violet light of dusk. She smells of lavender and jasmine.
“I would love to.”
Mistress leans close with a whisper, meant for only the two of them: “It’s a date, then.”
*************
A flush rises to Ligeia’s cheeks. Giving her head a brisk shake, she hops out of her nest and stumbles out of Echo’s way.
“Ready,” Echo taps out. “It isn’t much, but it’s a start. We compete to see who’ll throw these shells the farthest.”
“Alright.” Ligeia clears her throat. With a faint tremble to her voice, she begins.
She doesn’t sing. But she chants, weaving a tale in rhyme about a hero who fell for Love himself. As she speaks, the words returning to her with practiced ease, she tosses the shells.
“You’re a very good storyteller,” Echo says when she finishes.
Ligeia manages to fling her pebble onto the grass. She smiles, her stomach fluttering. “I think you might be trying to distract me so I don’t get so many points.”
“…maybe.”
She snorts, and so does Echo, pitching up the sound into a light laugh. “But thank you,” Ligeia says. “I’m glad to hear I still have some of my skills.”
“You must’ve been very popular.”
Ligeia’s smile fades a little. “Only with one person.”
“Who were they?”
“Uh.” Why do I feel like this? It happened so long ago. It’s not like Echo is your — no. No. Just stay quiet. Don’t say—
“I’m sorry,” Echo says, cutting into her thoughts. “I shouldn’t—”
“It’s fine! I just… I haven’t thought about her in a while.” Ligeia draws in a deep breath, rolling the shell around in her talons. The words begin to push their way to the surface. “We grew up together, her and I and my sisters. We all kept her company.”
“What sorts of things did you do?”
“We picked flowers, we sang, and we told stories.”
“That sounds fun,” Echo says, a wistful note entering her voice.
“Yes.” The shell crackles in her grip. “She and I were the closest, though. She liked my stories the best, and she spent the most time with me. We were friends.”
“You seem to have cared about her very much.”
**************
“She’s married.”
The Lady stands before them, Ligeia and her sisters kneeling at her feet. Her voice sounds brittle, the sweetness gone and replaced by something thornier. “The Underworld took her, and my brother — he approved of it. I couldn’t do anything. Nobody did anything.”
The grass around them wilts from green to yellow.
“You didn’t do anything,” the Lady snarls.
Ligeia’s head snaps up, tears shining in her eyes. “What could we have done?”
“Anything other than standing there.” The Lady’s hands curl into fists. “Anything other than letting my daughter be taken away to such a cruel fate.”
“My Lady, please—”
“She’s married to that man. My only daughter is gone for several months of the year!”
“My Lady—”
“Did you not care?”
Ligeia jumps to her feet. “I love her! You think I don’t grieve at her marriage?”
Silence falls over the glade. Her sisters stare at her. The Lady stares at her. The Lady’s eyes glow gold like wheat in the sun, bloodied by a red dawn. “And what good was your love?”
*************
Ligeia finds herself blinking back tears. “I wish I loved her enough to save her.”
There’s a beat of hesitation, the air turning over itself. Then, Echo flutters down and close to Ligeia, like a pair of arms.
This time, emotion swells in her chest. She can’t choke it back. Her face crumples. She draws in a ragged breath and finds the air close and cool. Beyond the hope of return, she leans into the touch and sobs, heaving her shoulders.
The sound is ugly. It’s the sound of a grieving woman. But as it pours out of her, the thorns catching in her throat, she feels her chest loosen. She feels Echo’s touch grow firmer and even closer to her, becoming a true embrace.
“Thank you,” she whispers later, her ability to speak with words recovered. “I needed that.”
“You did,” Echo says. She feels so gentle, so kind and warm. “You deserve to grieve what you lose. This person — she sounds like she meant a great deal to you.”
“She was my first love,” Ligeia admits, swishing her tail feathers.
“And you loved her enough. That wasn’t why you lost her,” Echo says, pressing closer. “It wasn’t your fault.”
“She deserved better, though. Both her and her mother.”
“So did you.”
Ligeia blinks, then manages a small nod. “I… you’re right. We all did.”

Unknown Pleasures (Chapter 10)
https://archiveofourown.org/works/40337385/chapters/102061815
Eddie Munson x Chrissy Cunningham (18+)
study-sessions gone awry, blanket forts, mutual masturbation
cw: sexual content (minors, please dni)
Sat on the mattress, Eddie halts his scribbling, flipping the yellow necked pencil (brittle in his hold)—rubbering an eraser spot of red shavings. Rich like Jupiter’s storm, swirling and angry, between notebook blue lines. Where, inked in its oil, are half muted numbers—hatched and scratched from repeat efforts (the paper pulped). Frustration perched in Eddie’s belly’s pulley—bubbling to his chest, up his throat, and out of his mouth; ruddy through the clench of his teeth. “I hate calculus,” he grits a subdued shout, tossing the notebook to the ground—paper rustling as he flops (gently in mind of snapped ribs) on the bed, his arms open and asking.
“Then let’s take a break,” Chrissy says gently, drooping the textbook in her lap—curled, as she is, in the stained beige chair. Attuned to the tension of tutoring—aware of Eddie’s impatience, disinterest, and fragile devotion (his parchment crinkled from care). So set to assist his senior success—dutifully instructing in hopes that Ms. O’Donnell’s D will hold above its lower letter (though not at the cost of Eddie’s confidence).
Where, in the generosity of Chrissy’s pause, Eddie sighs—moved by the grief of scholarly struggling. And too, of the past’s firm failings. His head throbbing from frenetic focus. Its pulse redirected in the ready rinse of lust—Eddie lolling his head in the blankets and reaching a hand to Chrissy. “Yes,” he agrees, distracted by the beauty of her cheeks (shining like buffed and blushing marble). “Come here, sweetheart,” Eddie grins, its line messy.
To which, Chrissy giggles, her legs crossed (one Ked bouncing). “A break, Eddie,” she scolds sweetly. “Not a makeout session.”
The billowing in Eddie’s jeans, indifferent to Chrissy’s refusal. So he sighs, jutting his bottom lip—widening his eyes like two wet brown wafers. Before fretting an unfiltered smile—enjoying the challenge of Chrissy’s charge. It’s nice to be ordered about, he thinks. Disobedience, a tasty avenue to attention (a lesson so long ago learned). Where Eddie adopts a smug smile—stitch-free and balanced on the undecided edge of waxing or waning in merry misbehavior. “And how should we fill the time instead?” He asks, lifting a performative grin—its glisten snaked in the syrup of scratchy sulking sarcasm.
While Chrissy cocks a savvy smile. “What if…” She trails and looks around, brightening with a strawberry burst. “I helped you clean your room?” She says.
To which, Eddie lifts his head from the mattress—knitting with a horrified smirk. “That’s an impossible task,” he slugs.
“No, it’ll be easy,” Chrissy insists, rising to her feet and walking for his bedside table. “We can do one spot at a time,” she says, riddling her fingers as though they were itchy. Before brandishing in action—where she begins to shift and slide the scattered objects along the table’s sticky surface. A preppy seer playing walnut games.
While Eddie watches in muffled dismay (slowly lifting and chewing salty pretzels)—grinning with dull embarrassment as Chrissy collects the empty cans and beer bottles. Dumping them (along with the contents of the ashtray) in the handled mouth of an uncrumpled plastic bag. Whereafter, Chrissy arranges the automotive magazine, the copper bottle of cologne, the arm-clicking pair of sunglasses, and the stack of cassette tapes beneath the bell of the lampshade. The turn, rather pleasing for its newfound organization. Though Eddie understands himself (his habits and his absent-mindedness) well enough to predict the disruption within a matter of hours. Still, he appreciates the efforts, grinning as Chrissy opens her arms.
“See,” she says, her smile faltering as she scans the rest of the room—unconvinced of her fortitude.
So Eddie laughs lightly. “It looks great,” he grins, poking his tongue past his teeth and rolling to take Chrissy’s hand—pulling her to straddle ‘stride his hips. Where she settles with a surprised giggle and its subsequent sigh—her pelvis, a seashell at his belt. Her form, a mirage at the base of his mountain. As Eddie laces his fingers in hers and dips her for a kiss.
A pleasant press in the pillows—a glide of his tongue between her lips. And then soaking with bated breath—warm and wet and wanting—Chrissy’s arms braced in the heels of Eddie’s hands (earned by his ears). Her balance, blissful in his basin—ripened as she strokes her hips and bites his lip. Rough as she retreats.
To which, Eddie growls—his voice breaking as he shifts his hands to hold Chrissy’s straightened spine. Randy and panting as she cracks her eyes and softens a smile. While Eddie lies, hard and unhearing—gulping for breath. His brow furrowed (his face, a grumble) for the sight of Chrissy’s snack stern head shake. Pink and pretty.
So he startles the crinkled comforter in a fast fist—grabbing the blanket and pulling it to parachute above them. Smiling as the cover sinks its shroud, light sifting through its warm weave. “What if we made a fort?” He whispers excitedly, sucking the caps of his teeth—nodding like he has an answering vote.
To which, Chrissy laughs. “You’ve got to study,” she says, her tone firm despite its honey.
Where Eddie bats his lashes longingly—punching a purposed pout. “We can study in the fort,” he vibrates to pressure his point.
So Chrissy eases—a giggle in her gossamer. “You’re hard to say no to, you know,” she laments amidst levity.
“I know,” Eddie grins, making mischievous eyes.
As Chrissy slides off and starts instructing—pointing for Eddie’s agreed performance. “We’ll need chairs first,” she says.
“Yes ma’am,” Eddie replies, swelling in his shorts. Where he skips to carry a vinyl-edged desk chair from the crowd of its corner, his T-shirt lifting from his belt as he hoists the seat above his head—walking to place it across the room. Guarded by the garden gnome—glued with a galvanized grunt. Eddie, humming as Chrissy next directs for sheets. So he tosses the cotton covers from his mattress—obedient as he scrounges an extra set of bedding from the closet. Passing the tenting to Chrissy before spreading a moth-munched knit blanket on the rust-colored carpet (a rug of sorts). Where Eddie and Chrissy begin to shape the fort, draping the architectured cloaking and blocking the light—pinning corners to desks beneath stacks of frayed books. And wrapping headrests and arms with silver dimpled duct tape bitten from its wheel. After which, Eddie climbs on the bed, ducking for the curtained door of the fort and tossing his lumpy pillows inside (fleeced like grinning frisbees).  Earned as Chrissy follows their flight. Wherein she fluffs and files the interior design. While Eddie pulls the lamp (cord taut) from his bedside table, dropping to all fours, tipping its shade, and crawling through the mouth of the orange-lit fort.
A fortress and a phallus erected (persistent in its duration). Where Eddie places the lamp and jerks to his back, his eyes dancing the stretch of the sheets—settling, with a swallow, on the smatter of semen-stain constellations. “Those stains are, uh…” He starts, trailing noncommittally—closing his mouth and lifting a little look at Chrissy. “I don’t know what those stains are,” he drawls (decided upon his roof-raked return)—flushed for the feel of Chrissy’s chosen grin.
Rolling his eyes—groaning as she cracks the textbook, ready to resume their study (her eyelids bright and starry). To which, Eddie slathers a sigh. “I can’t think when I’m hot,” he digs his heels in diversion—gritting his teeth and tugging furiously at his shirt. Crossing his arms and pulling the garment from his head—spinning its collar on his wrist and flinging the tee through the jaws of the fort, his ribcage rippling rudely (his mullet, a mane).
Where Eddie can feel the churn of Chrissy’s stare—the ogle in her bobble. Stippling self-pleasure in his smile at first. But when Chrissy reaches out tenderly—her eyes shining as she closes to caress an inch of knuckle along the line of Eddie’s jaw—his stomach turns, his breath catching. Hitched for the uncommonness of focused doting—for the care in her stare. Its swallow sweeping nauseously as Chrissy drops to trace his collarbones, the teeth of his tattoo, and then to stroke the stretch of cloth, wrapped so delicately around his ribs—her fingers feathering the gauze. Wherein, Eddie senses the weight of her sympathy—her apology and her kindness, the slippers of each fleeting brush.
So Eddie clears his throat—his Adam’s apple heavy as it works. Pitched as he slides his hand beneath his waistband, taking gentle hold of hot flesh. Tugs, which tell a chuffing interruption—unable to take the openness of Chrissy’s touching adoration.
She, who shoots wide eyes and shifts to the cuffs of Eddie’s belt—tuning for the strain of denim.
But Eddie stills Chrissy’s hand, his fingertips calloused on her soft wrist. “Wait,” he says, his voice like mellowed milk. “I want to watch you,” he grins without doing so.
“Watch me do what?” Chrissy asks, her brow knit—teal in the elvenness of innocence.
“Touch yourself,” Eddie rasps—doing just so himself. Where his bottom lip catches on the huff of his breath. “I’ll do it too,” he manages, blushing from a bloom of heat.
As Chrissy lines her lips in thought. Before nodding so gently, Eddie thinks he might finish then—his heartbeat, a flexing fist in his chest. Stunned to a stall as Chrissy sits back on her heels, lifting her tartan skirt and skating her hand beneath its hem—exposing the cotton rectangle of skin-snug lilac, which contours her cunt. Where she begins to rub at its apex—letting a little gasp as she smarts and then circles.
So Eddie sweeps a thumb at his head—mirroring Chrissy’s motion, his eyes rocking to half-moons of white; a bulb in the base of his belly. Burning as Eddie licks his lips and undoes his belt—popping his button, unseaming his zipper, and freeing his cock for fresh air.
Chrissy moaning.
Eddie groaning.
Breathy.
Bruised.
The tendons of Chrissy’s neck tensing and loosening in time—her hand, an ark atop the sweetest wave; a penny of moisture pooling on her panties.
Eddie’s balls bouncing in answer (ripe and round and ready). His prick, dense and warming—twitching as he hastens the jerking of his fist, shutting his eyes and yanking his wrist. Only seconds before he is spilling with a grated grunt (a shredded shout)—spurting lines of lapping white to the crease of his sternum, some catching in the nestle of hair beneath his navel. His chest heaving and his throat hoarse—holding as Chrissy starts to waver.
“Keep going,” he pants—breathless and fogged; overstimulated by observation. Eased as Chrissy finally finds her finish—riding the flitting of her fingers, her sigh like lavender as it settles.
And Eddie slumps in the pillows, his eyes closed as he softens. Before untucking the bandana from his back pocket—wiping the mess from his hand and his stomach, righting himself with a zip, and tossing the fabric aside. Where he rolls to cover Chrissy in a hug, wrapping his arms and pulling her to lie by his side.
Chrissy, laughing as she thunks the open textbook to splay smoothly on Eddie’s face (its spine in line with his nose), the pages crisp—the smell, academic. A scent he breathes in.
Before Chrissy crinkles a grin and removes the book, sighing to curl against his chest. Where they stay for a time—recollecting and returning. Eddie’s head light—his bones relaxed.
Until Chrissy turns to him.“Eddie,” she says, her stare serious.
“Yeah,” he answers, his brow bending in concern.
While Chrissy locates something sturdy inside her. “I don’t want to hide anymore,” she says—quiet despite the firmness in her voice (rich with ruled intention).
So Eddie takes her face in his hand. “Me neither, sweetheart,” he grins—sloppy and sure.

Nourish Your Locks: Understanding the Link Between Nutrition and Male Hair Fall
Hair fall is a common concern for many men, affecting not just their physical appearance but also their confidence and self-esteem. While genetics and hormonal factors play a significant role in hair loss, the impact of nutrition on hair health should not be underestimated. In this blog, we'll explore the intricate relationship between nutrition and male hair fall, shedding light on how dietary choices can influence hair growth and vitality.
Protein Powerhouse: The Foundation of Healthy Hair
Protein is often hailed as the building block of life, and the same holds true for your hair. Your hair strands are primarily composed of a protein called keratin, making adequate protein intake essential for maintaining strong and healthy locks. Incorporating lean sources of protein such as poultry, fish, eggs, and legumes into your diet can provide the amino acids necessary for hair growth and repair. Additionally, collagen, a protein found in connective tissues, can promote hair elasticity and resilience, making collagen-rich foods like bone broth and gelatin valuable additions to your diet.
Vitamins and Minerals: Fueling Hair Growth from Within
In addition to protein, various vitamins and minerals play key roles in supporting optimal hair health. Vitamin A, for example, helps regulate sebum production in the scalp, preventing dryness and dandruff that can contribute to hair fall. Incorporate vitamin A-rich foods such as sweet potatoes, carrots, and spinach into your meals to support a healthy scalp environment. Likewise, vitamin E acts as a powerful antioxidant, protecting hair follicles from oxidative stress and promoting blood circulation to the scalp. Nuts, seeds, and leafy greens are excellent sources of vitamin E to include in your diet.
Biotin, part of the B-vitamin complex, is another nutrient crucial for hair growth and thickness. Biotin deficiency has been linked to hair loss, so ensuring an adequate intake of biotin-rich foods such as eggs, nuts, and whole grains can help maintain strong and resilient hair strands. Furthermore, minerals like iron and zinc play vital roles in hair growth cycles, with deficiencies in these nutrients often associated with increased hair shedding. Incorporate iron-rich foods like lean red meat, poultry, and beans, as well as zinc-rich foods like oysters, pumpkin seeds, and lentils, into your diet to support healthy hair growth.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Nourishing Your Scalp and Strands
Omega-3 fatty acids are renowned for their anti-inflammatory properties and their ability to promote overall skin and hair health. These essential fats help nourish the scalp and hair follicles, reducing inflammation and supporting optimal hair growth. Fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel, and sardines are excellent sources of omega-3s, while plant-based options like flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts provide alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a precursor to omega-3 fatty acids.
Hydration: The Key to Moisturized and Resilient Hair
Last but certainly not least, hydration plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy hair. Dehydration can lead to dry and brittle strands, making them more prone to breakage and hair fall. Ensure you're drinking an adequate amount of water throughout the day to keep your hair and scalp hydrated from within. Additionally, incorporating hydrating foods such as fruits, vegetables, and herbal teas can contribute to overall hydration levels and support hair health.
In conclusion, while genetics and hormonal factors undoubtedly influence male hair fall, the role of nutrition should not be overlooked. By nourishing your body with a balanced diet rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, omega-3 fatty acids, and hydration, you can support optimal hair growth and vitality from within. Remember, healthy hair starts with healthy habits, so prioritize nutrition and embrace the journey to stronger, thicker, and more resilient locks.

Understanding Nail Growth: The Science Behind the Beauty
Our nails, composed primarily of keratin, are constantly growing from the nail matrix located beneath the cuticle. The average growth rate is around 3 millimeters per month, but this can vary depending on several factors, including genetics, age, overall health, and even your dominant hand (which typically sees faster growth).
Nourish from Within: Dietary Tips for Healthy Nails
Just like any other part of your body, your nails thrive on proper nutrition. Here's what to add to your plate for optimal nail health:
Protein: The building block of keratin, protein is essential for strong nails. Include lean meats, fish, eggs, legumes, and nuts in your diet.
Biotin: This B vitamin is often linked to improved hair and nail health. Consider incorporating biotin-rich foods like eggs, avocados, and sweet potatoes or consult your doctor about a biotin supplement.
Essential Fatty Acids: Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids contribute to overall hair, skin, and nail health. Fatty fish like salmon, flaxseeds, and walnuts are excellent sources.
Hydration: Don't underestimate the power of staying hydrated! Drinking plenty of water keeps your nails, and your entire body, functioning optimally.

Pamper and Protect: Essential Nail Care Practices
Now that we've addressed internal nourishment, let's focus on external care:
Moisturize religiously: Cuticles play a crucial role in nail health. Regularly apply cuticle oil or lotion to keep them hydrated and prevent hangnails.
File with finesse: Ditch the metal nail file! Opt for a gentle glass or emery board and file your nails in one direction to prevent breakage.
Wear gloves for protection: Household chores can wreak havoc on your nails. Protect them by wearing gloves when cleaning, washing dishes, or gardening.
Minimize polish breaks: While a fresh coat of polish can be fun, constantly removing and reapplying polish can be drying. Give your nails a breather between manicures.
Ditch the bad habits: Nail biting and picking are not only bad habits but can also damage your nails and surrounding skin.
Beyond the Basics: Natural Growth Boosters
Biotin Supplements: As mentioned earlier, biotin supplements can be a helpful addition to your nail care routine. However, it's advisable to consult a doctor before starting any new supplements.
Nail Hardeners: Use these with caution! While they can temporarily strengthen nails, overuse can lead to brittleness. Opt for natural hardeners like horsetail extract or opt for a base coat that promotes healthy growth.

How to Grow Your Nails in a Week
Introduction
In the pursuit of beauty and self-care, healthy nails often take center stage. Not only do well-groomed nails enhance our appearance, but they also serve as indicators of overall health. However, achieving long and strong nails in a short span of time can seem like an elusive goal. In this guide, we delve into the science behind nail growth and provide practical tips on how to nurture your nails effectively within a week.
Understanding Nail Growth
Anatomy of the Nail
Nails, composed primarily of a protein called keratin, are complex structures that protect the sensitive tips of our fingers and toes. Understanding the layers of the nail, including the nail plate, nail bed, and cuticle, is crucial for nurturing healthy growth.
Nail Growth Cycle
Tumblr media
Nails grow at an average rate of about 1/8 inch per month, with variations depending on factors like age, genetics, and overall health. The growth cycle comprises three phases: the anagen (growth) phase, the catagen (transitional) phase, and the telogen (resting) phase. Optimizing conditions for each stage can promote faster and stronger nail growth.

Essential Nutrients for Nail Health
Protein
As the building blocks of nails, adequate protein intake is essential for promoting growth and strength. Incorporating protein-rich foods such as lean meats, eggs, legumes, and nuts into your diet can provide the necessary amino acids for healthy nail growth.
Biotin
Also known as vitamin B7, biotin plays a crucial role in nail health by supporting keratin production. Foods rich in biotin include eggs, nuts, whole grains, and leafy greens. Additionally, biotin supplements can be beneficial for individuals with deficiencies or seeking accelerated nail growth.
Iron
Iron deficiency can lead to brittle nails and slow growth. Incorporating iron-rich foods such as red meat, poultry, fish, and leafy greens can help maintain optimal nail health and promote faster growth.
Vitamin C
Collagen, an essential protein for nail strength, relies on vitamin C for synthesis. Including vitamin C-rich foods like citrus fruits, strawberries, bell peppers, and broccoli in your diet can support collagen production and enhance nail growth.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Healthy fats, particularly omega-3 fatty acids found in fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts, contribute to nail hydration and flexibility. Adding these foods to your diet can prevent brittleness and promote faster nail growth.
Hydration and Moisture
Importance of Hydration
Hydrated nails are less prone to breakage and splitting. Drinking an adequate amount of water throughout the day maintains nail moisture from within, promoting flexibility and strength.
Moisturizing Techniques
In addition to internal hydration, external moisturization is crucial for nail health. Applying a nourishing hand cream or cuticle oil regularly can prevent dryness and maintain the integrity of the nail structure.
Nail Care Routine
Gentle Handling
Avoiding excessive force or trauma on the nails is paramount for preventing damage and promoting growth. Use gentle motions when filing, buffing, or applying nail polish to minimize stress on the nail bed.
Regular Trimming and Filing
Maintaining a neat and uniform nail shape through regular trimming and filing prevents snagging and breakage. Opt for a soft nail file and trim nails straight across to avoid weakening the tips.
Avoiding Harsh Chemicals
Chemicals present in nail polish removers and harsh cleaning agents can strip the nails of moisture and weaken their structure. Opt for gentle, acetone-free nail polish removers and wear gloves when handling harsh chemicals to protect your nails.
Protective Measures
Nail Strengthening Products
Utilize nail strengtheners and fortifying treatments containing ingredients like keratin, calcium, and vitamins to enhance nail resilience and promote growth. Apply these products as directed for optimal results.
Gloves for Household Chores
Household chores involving water, cleaning agents, or prolonged exposure to chemicals can weaken nails. Wearing gloves while washing dishes or cleaning protects nails from damage and maintains their strength and integrity.
Avoiding Bad Habits
Nail Biting
Nail biting not only damages the nail bed but also introduces bacteria, leading to infections and slow growth. Employ techniques such as nail biting deterrents, stress management strategies, or professional therapy to break this habit and promote healthy nail growth.
Picking and Peeling
Picking at nails or peeling off polish can weaken the nail structure and inhibit growth. Keep nails neatly manicured to discourage picking and utilize non-acetone polish removers to gently remove nail polish without damaging the nails.
Massage and Stimulation Techniques
Blood Circulation and Nail Growth
Stimulating blood flow to the nail bed through massage enhances nutrient delivery and promotes faster growth. Gently massaging the base of the nails with circular motions using a nourishing oil improves circulation and encourages nail growth.
Oil Massage
Applying oils such as coconut oil, olive oil, or almond oil to the nails and cuticles provides essential nutrients and locks in moisture. Massage the oils into the nails and surrounding skin regularly to nourish and strengthen the nails from within.
Dietary Considerations
Foods for Nail Health
Incorporating a balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and proteins supports overall nail health and growth. Include a variety of nutrient-dense foods such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats to provide essential nutrients for strong, resilient nails.
Supplements
In cases of nutrient deficiencies or when seeking accelerated nail growth, supplements such as biotin, collagen, and omega-3 fatty acids can be beneficial. Consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplements to ensure safety and efficacy.
Patience and Persistence
Managing Expectations
While implementing these strategies can expedite nail growth, it's important to manage expectations and recognize that significant changes may take time. Consistency in nail care practices and patience are key to achieving and maintaining long-term nail health.
Consistency in Nail Care
Establishing a regular nail care routine and adhering to it diligently is essential for achieving desired results. Consistency in moisturizing, trimming, and protecting the nails ensures optimal growth and strength over time.

Tumblr media
Introduction
The Importance of Nail Growth
Nail growth is a natural process that reflects our overall health and well-being. Healthy nails not only add to our aesthetic appeal but also signify good nutritional intake and proper self-care habits.
Common Challenges with Nail Growth
Many factors can hinder nail growth, including nutritional deficiencies, environmental factors, and lifestyle habits. Understanding these challenges is crucial for devising an effective strategy to promote nail growth.

Understand Your Nail Growth Cycle
Anagen Phase
The anagen phase is the active growth phase of the nail, where cells in the nail matrix divide rapidly, leading to nail elongation. This phase typically lasts for two to three months.
Catagen Phase
During the catagen phase, nail growth slows down, and the nail matrix begins to shrink. This transitional phase lasts for about one to two weeks.
Telogen Phase
In the telogen phase, the nail stops growing, and the old nail is pushed out by the new nail. This resting phase lasts for about three to four months before the cycle repeats.

Nail Nutrition: Essential Nutrients for Growth
Protein
Protein is a fundamental building block for nail growth, as nails are primarily made of a protein called keratin. Ensure an adequate intake of protein-rich foods like lean meats, eggs, dairy, and legumes.
Biotin
Biotin, also known as vitamin B7, plays a crucial role in promoting nail strength and growth. Include biotin-rich foods such as nuts, seeds, whole grains, and leafy greens in your diet.
Iron
Iron deficiency can lead to brittle nails and slow growth. Incorporate iron-rich foods like spinach, red meat, lentils, and fortified cereals to support healthy nail growth.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps protect nail cells from damage and promotes blood circulation to the nail bed. Include vitamin E-rich foods like almonds, sunflower seeds, spinach, and avocados in your diet.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Omega-3 fatty acids help nourish the nail bed and promote flexibility and strength in the nails. Incorporate sources of omega-3s such as fatty fish, flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts into your meals.
Hydration and Moisture
Importance of Hydration
Proper hydration is essential for maintaining nail health. Drink an adequate amount of water daily to prevent dehydration, which can lead to dry, brittle nails.
Using Moisturizers and Cuticle Oils
Regularly moisturizing your nails and cuticles helps retain moisture and prevents them from becoming dry and brittle. Opt for moisturizers and cuticle oils containing hydrating ingredients like shea butter, jojoba oil, and vitamin E.
Gentle Nail Care Practices
Avoiding Harsh Chemicals
Exposure to harsh chemicals, such as those found in nail polish removers and household cleaners, can weaken nails. Choose gentle, acetone-free nail polish removers and wear gloves when using cleaning products.

Limiting Excessive Buffing
While buffing can smooth the nail surface and enhance shine, excessive buffing can weaken the nails and lead to thinning. Limit buffing to once a month and use a gentle buffing block to avoid damage.
Proper Nail Trimming Techniques
Trimming your nails regularly helps prevent breakage and promotes healthy growth. Use sharp, clean nail clippers and trim straight across to prevent ingrown nails.
Protect Your Nails
Wearing Gloves During Chores
Household chores involving water or harsh chemicals can weaken nails. Wear protective gloves while washing dishes, cleaning, or gardening to shield your nails from damage.
Using Nail Strengthening Products
Nail strengthening products, such as nail hardeners and fortifying polishes, can help protect weak nails and promote growth. Look for products containing ingredients like calcium, keratin, and peptides.
Protecting Nails from Extreme Temperatures
Exposure to extreme temperatures, whether hot or cold, can cause nails to become dry and brittle. Wear gloves in cold weather and avoid prolonged exposure to hot water to maintain nail health.
Stress Management
Impact of Stress on Nail Health
Chronic stress can disrupt the nail growth cycle and lead to brittle, weak nails. Practice stress-reducing techniques such as meditation, deep breathing exercises, or yoga to promote overall nail health.
Relaxation Techniques
Engage in activities that promote relaxation and reduce stress levels, such as spending time outdoors, practicing hobbies, or indulging in a warm bath with essential oils.
Avoid Nail Damage
Say No to Nail Biting
Nail biting not only damages the nails but also increases the risk of infections and slows down growth. Break the habit by keeping nails trimmed short and applying a bitter-tasting nail polish as a deterrent.
Proper Removal of Nail Polish
Using harsh chemicals or peeling off nail polish can weaken the nails and cause them to become brittle. Remove nail polish gently using an acetone-free remover and cotton pads to avoid damage.
Being Gentle with Nail Enhancements
While nail enhancements like acrylics or gel polish can enhance the appearance of nails, improper application or removal can weaken the natural nails. Choose reputable salons and follow proper aftercare instructions to minimize damage.
Consider Supplements
Consultation with a Healthcare Professional
Before starting any supplements for nail growth, consult with a healthcare professional to ensure they are safe and appropriate for you.
Options for Nail Growth Supplements
Supplements containing biotin, collagen, and other vitamins and minerals may help promote nail growth and strength. Look for supplements specifically formulated for nail health and follow recommended dosages.
Avoiding Bad Habits
Smoking and Nail Health
Smoking not only affects overall health but also impairs nail growth and leads to yellowing and discoloration. Quitting smoking can improve nail health and promote faster growth.
Excessive Alcohol Consumption
Excessive alcohol consumption can dehydrate the body, leading to dry, brittle nails. Limit alcohol intake and stay hydrated to support healthy nail growth.
Proper Nail Care Routine
Regular Nail Trimming
Trimming nails regularly helps prevent breakage and encourages healthy growth. Aim to trim nails every 1-2 weeks, depending on your nail growth rate.
Moisturizing and Massaging
Regularly moisturize your nails and cuticles with hydrating creams or oils to keep them soft and flexible. Massaging the nails and surrounding skin improves blood circulation and promotes nail growth.

Seeking Professional Help
When to Consult a Dermatologist
If you're experiencing persistent nail problems despite following a healthy nail care routine, consider consulting a dermatologist. They can identify underlying issues and recommend appropriate treatments.
