Secret Life Session 9 Doodles!! (Spoilers?)

i'm nearly a week late, but here, the last entry in my secret life doodle extravaganza :v;

so uh, that finale huh? was rotating that in my head for like a solid 24 hours after i saw it, ngl--

watching this season was super fun!! i'm kind of sad it ended, watching all the episodes and doodling silly moments has been the highlight of my weeks over the past two months, but also i very much need a break so i feel a bit relieved too- managed to get every session this time around, which was an improvement from my limited life doodles!

I KNOW I am so not active here BUT you all (my 3 followers) know that Christmastime is for me to pick all and any suggestion or promt and make some fanart of my fave fandom: the Vampire Chronicles.

With the promt by @cup-of-lixx of "snow" and "new traditions", this year's Holiday fanart is around these guys having the "new" tradition of sending Christmas cards to Marius. I've been working is negative space lately and the style of these is very retro, inspired by old Christmas photos and magazine covers, as well as the work of ICONS Coles Phillips, René Gruau and David Aja.

Up you can see the little mock ups I made ( I don't know if Tumblr is lowering the quality or if you all can see these right when clicking), and of course here you can see the full illustrations by themselves.

It's starting to affect his personal life, so he hires a professional to show him a few tips and tricks to being a better lover.

This is the first fic I ever wrote that focused on the smut in graphic detail and it was my personal challenge to myself to see if I could pull it off, and I did! I wasn't really active on tumblr back then and I didn't have anyone to test audience my fics or give me writing advice, but I knew I wanted to at least push my limits and see what happened.

I had so much fun writing it in the one day that it took me! Just something lighthearted and sexy and low stakes (I purposely picked a rarepair to test the waters before writing the A/D smut in Our House, in addition to an AU setting to be even more niche so I could fly under the radar because I was not always as shameless as I seem now RIP).

But ultimately I think it worked out and this fic was the stepping stone that helped me get more comfortable with writing the themes and kinks that I do now! I hope you enjoy it if you decide to read it/reread it. ♥️

Beast In Black am Brienzersee Rockfestival

Was für eine geile Bestätigung, Beast In Black spielen am Brienzersee Rockfestival. Ich weiss aber auch dass diese Band zu polarisieren vermag wie aktuell nicht viele. Da die Band live ohne einen Keyboarder auf der Bühne steht und vieles vom Sampler geliefert wird, durfte ich schon ganz üble Kommentare lesen. Aber mal Hand aufs Herz, die Musik, und genau dies ist es was zählt, die reisst mit. Mit nur zwei Alben im Gepäck liefern Beast In Black einen Ohrwurm nach dem Andern ab. Die Hitdichte ist unglaublich und der Sound ist auch live (mit Sampler) voll fett. Beast In Black zählen für mich jetzt schon zu den Grossen, denn sie wiessen auch live wie man abzuliefern hat.

Hier hat sich das Brienzersee Rockfestival einen richtig geilen Fisch an Land gezogen und für den Freitag 07.08.2020 bestätigt. Überhaupt wird der Freitag mit den Bands Fighter V, Crazy Lixx, H.E.A.T, Beast In Black und Copperhead zu einer Wahnsinns Party, solch ein Billing lässt kaum Luft zum Durchatmen….. und zum Bier holen.

Secret Life Session 5 Doodles!! (be wary of spoilers)

it's the most wonderful time of the week! well okay, actual secret life day was 2 days ago, but my batch of doodles for this session is done and i'm hoping that's close enough--

this session was incredibly fun to watch! the group tasks, the red names being silly and just all of the shenanigans were so much fun to both watch and draw, this season is definitely up there for the ranking for my favorite life series season :D

i managed to fit everyone in again which is great!!, even if these took me so long that i ran out of povs to watch and started joel's decked out 2 vod instead--

10 – HARDLINE – “Life”

HARDLINE abre nuestra lista de para los fans del rock más melódico en una año en el que a parte de lanzar este álbum «Life» la banda ha estado trabajando bastante en giras y colaboraciones varias. Podéis leer la Reseña completa del álbum en este enlace.

Para 2020 ya sabemos que estarán en el Leyendas del Rock de Villena y seguro que tendremos más oportunidades de verles en alguna otra localidad.

Dejamos aquí una versión en acústico de su «Hot Cherie» con Deen Castronovo.

9 – Work of Art – «Exhibits»

En el octavo puesto tenemos a W.O.A. Work of Art que a finales de año lanzaban su neuvo trabajo. Para los amantes del rock más melódico “Exhibits” es uno de esos discos que no se pueden perder, en lo que es uno de los mejores trabajos de Work of Art en estos últimos años. 

“Exhibits” es un álbum suave, con una producción fantástica, melodías por los cuatro costados y un compendio de innumerables detalles instrumentales que conforman un trabajo escepcional. Hablamos de una álbum AOR, que quizás sea el más suave de esta lista, pero merece la pena y mucho.

8 – DEGREED – “Lost Generation”

En la octava plaza tenemos a DEGREED con su nuevo discazo «Lost Generation». Degreed son únicos, y que consiguen con este disco que dudes. Sorprende que en un mismo disco pasas de alucinar con la velocidad y la mala leche, a que te quedes enganchado con un tema sosegado, y dudando, de si estos tíos son los mismos que dos temas antes estaban pateando tu trasero. DEGREED son Robin Eriksson, voz y bajo, Daniel Johansson, guitarra y coros, Mikael Jansson, teclados, y Matt Eriksson, batería. Se podríand efinir de muchas formas,  heavies, popies, progresivos, lo que quieras, tan distintos y originales al resto de cosas que se puedan escuchar, que acen que merezca y mucho la pena disfrutarlos, un ejemplo es este álbum Lost Generation.

7 – Tesla – “Shock”

TESLA son unos clásicos de este estilo musical y quizás por ellos se han ganado este séptimo puesto con un disco «Shock» que ha pasado sin pena ni gloria, pero que ha servido de excusa para empujar a la banda a la carretera.

6 – Crazy Lixx – “Forever Wild”

Crazy Lixx son otros que encuentran hueco en nuestras listas siempre que sacan disco. La banda sueca que debía haber nacido en los ángeles nos traen «Forever Wild» que es un álbum de melodías y voces, principal baza, gran apuesta, y sello de identidad.

Da alegría y ganas de cantar al que lo escucha, en todos, absolutamente todos los temas. Es un disco que entra fácil, fundamental para este estilo, y a la segunda, tercera escucha, ya te ha enamorado y a la cuarta, esos coros tan contagiosos “te enferman” y hacen que estés berreando en el coche como un poseso. Aunque el protagonismo de los coros y las melodías está claro, tampoco es un disco aburrido y lineal, al contrario, es variado, y en sus diez temas se recogen temas rápidos, fuertes, lentos y  medios tiempos.

5 – Whitesnake – “Flesh & Blood”

A mitad de tabla entra Whitesnake con su “Flesh & Blood” un trabajo que no ha dejado indiferente a nadie. Encontrarás grandes defensores del mismo y también críticas feroces como la nuestra.

Lo que está claro es que Coverdale y los suyos tienen un hueco bien grande en las patatas de los más hard rockeros y por algo será. Así que al Cesar lo que es del Cesar y muchas felicidades por este 5º puesto.

WHITESNAKE en general pero en particular David Coverdale han fallado estrepitosamente con este «Flesh & Blood» . Se lleva un aprobado raspado porque mi corazón me incapacita para suspender a esta banda.

4 – AVANTASIA – “Moonglow”

Si con el quinto puesto teníamos reparos, con este cuarto de AVANTASIA pensamos que es más que merecido. En “Moonglow” volvemos a tener lo mejor de AVANTASIA con toda su esencia, grandes melodías, potentes coros, voces increibles ritmos aplastantes y en definitiva MÚSICA de la buena con mayúsculas. En este nuevo disco de 11 canciones no vamos a toparnos con una excepción. Sammet ha reunido una fantástica colección de voces, y estilos que empastan de nuevo perfectamente en las composiciones del alemán. En esta ocasión podremos disfrutar de las voces de Geoff Tate (Queensryche), Ronnie Atkins de PRETTY MAIDS, Michael Kiske de HELLOWEEN, Jørn Lande, Eric Martin (MR BIG), Bob Catley de MAGNUM, Hansi Kürsch de BLIND GUARDIAN, Mille Petrozza de KREATOR y la cantante de BLACKMORE’S NIGHT Candice Night.

Este disco vino acompañado de una fantástica gira que paso por varios puntos del país y recordamos que AVANTASIA estará este verano en el Rock The Night Festival con su gira 20 aniversario

3 – Pretty Maids – «Undress Your Madness»

Y abre el podio… Pretty Maids con su nuevo álbum «Undress Your Madness» lanzado el 8 de noviembre. Pretty Maids, clásicos del Hard Rock europeo que siguen demostrando que no hay nadie como ellos a la hora de compaginar caña, pesadez, dureza, el ser heavy de verdad, y la calidez, cercanía, ese Hard Rock más comercial.

En este trabajo respecto a su anterior obra Kingmaker encontramos un disco que está más lleno de estribillos más «cantables», «coreables», «ligeros». Se aproxima más a sus discos de los 90, un Jump The Gun o un Sin-Decade que un Kingmaker o un disco de su época más reciente. Para muestra este temazo:

2 – Eclipse – “Paradigm”

Tenemos sorpresa en la segunda plaza de nuestra clasificación con los 10 Mejores Discos de Rock Melódico y Hard Rock de 2019 con al entrada de ECLIPSE. No es una sorpresa por calidad, que el sobra a este «Paradigm» sino porque no es una banda con una legión de seguidores que el permita competir en igualdad de condiciones con otras de esta lista.

“Paradigm” es un trabajo espectacular en el que se han cuidado todos los detalles y que está repleto de grandes canciones e himnos. Como siempre que Erik está metido en el ajo, la producción es excepcional, el sonido que saca a la batería es brutal, y la cantidad de arreglos y detalles es incontable.

Además el álbum no está exento de polémica ya que Timo Tolkki (ex guitarrista de STRATOVARIUS) acusó a ECLIPSE de «robar» su canción «REVOLUTION RENAISSANCE» perteneciente al proyecto posterior a STRATOVARIUS del guitarrista

Ya en la recta final del año tuvimos a ECLIPSE por España presentando su nuevo álbum en directo en lo que fueron dos conciertazos que reforzaron su posición ante su público que pococ a poco va creciendo.

1 – BABYMETAL – “Metal Galaxy”

Y la primera plaza es para BABYMETAL y su álbum “Metal Galaxy”… Sabemos que habrá mucha discrepancia con esto y que además el estilo del álbum es dificil de encajar como Hard Rock (tiene de todo). Pero está claro que BABYMETAL tiene un auténtico ejercito de fans, y además activos que han logrado mantener a la banda en la cabeza de esta calsificación durante todo el proceso de votación.

Siendo justos y tratando de dejar de lado filias y fobias, “Metal Galaxy” supone el esfuerzo de la banda por pegar el salto e internacionalizar su éxito. En esta producción  BABYMETAL hace lo que se proponía hacer: mezcla canciones oscuras de Metal llenas de gruñidos con canciones más ligeras y divertidas con Pop, o sabores internacionales.

Si esto fuera poco hace pocos días se anunció que el fenómeno mundial BABYMETAL visitarán Barcelona y Madrid en junio de 2020. Además llegarán presentando su nuevo y exitoso álbum «Metal Galaxy» del que podéis leer aquí nuestra reseña.

Puedes amar u odiar su música, pero no hay forma de detener las fuerzas emocionales y creativas que la impulsan. BABYMETAL saben encajar con su propuesta y trabajan bien, porque recordemos que en el fondo es música lo que nos alegra el alma, lo consiguen muy bien, sin olvidar que sus letras estan en japones. Todo es mérito y capacidad. Esfuerzo, trabajo y recompensa, un deleite satisfactorio llamado «Metal Galaxy».

Secret Life Session 6 Doodles :D (spoilers ahead!!)

it's that time of the week again!! i may have bitten more than i could chew with this batch, but i'm ultimately pretty happy with the result :D

this session is very dear to me, it went from 0 to 100 so quick and i loved it <3 managed to fit everyone in again with this one, though i suppose that'll change next time around given the permadeaths!

on that topic, jimmy broke his curse so i drew him 4 whole times to celebrate-- i'm a bit sad that i won't get to draw him, lizzie and mumbo next week, but i'll take what i can get atp!

Secret Life Session 3 Doodles!! (obligatory spoiler warning :D)

this one took a bit longer than usual but honestly, i'd say it was pretty worth it!! i'm fairly pleased with this batch :D

i actually managed to fit in every single member with this one, albeit via technicality thanks to the top middle doodle---

it's getting to the point where custom skins are rolling in and team vibes are better established and i am so incredibly thrilled to get to work on how to translate everything into my doodles :00

(i might work on having bgs that better show off my lil motion lines and emotes and such, but i like the silly color-splash image material bgs quite a lot so idk-)
