Finished the game
What a trip
My overall thoughts, it was a better game than the first, aside from Hangman’s Gambit. The game play and mysteries had me guessing and stumped and shocked.
The biggest thing I commend via gameplay is the Logic Dive. Looks stupid, but this exactly the thing I wanted that was missing from the first game that I complained about in this post. You the player are getting the satisfaction of connecting dots and figuring the mystery out.
As for plot, I… didn’t really like that it was Junko again? I love the first cast a lot but it also feels really unfair to the new cast. And they know this too, it was an “insignificant event” but feels a little mmm that it’s Naegi vs Junko again. Even if the mastermind was someone else, I couldn’t really feel the effects of it so it still just felt like VS Junko. (I also should finish reading the novel I guess)
Oh, but the fact that they do into a little more detail about The Tragedy and the end of the world etc, makes it feel a little more believable than the first game where it’s mostly Junko info dumping. (Also, I guess Mikan’s recovered memory was about Junko huh. I don’t think they ever finished the case of the Twilight Syndrome but am I supposed to assume that it either didn’t actually happen or what.)
Unfortunately I still prefer the first game cast over the second. I didn’t have any stand out Ride or Die favs. I mean, I did have favs though and unfortunately they died lmaaaoo I mean, maybe they didn’t if the rest are trying to save them/wait for them to wake up. Anyway there’s no one I am willing to sell a liver to get merch for is what I’m saying. (Naegi is still my true star at the end of the day)
Also unfortunately I knew about the Future Foundation and that the survivors in the first game were part of it. Didn’t know anything about the new class so I was Big Shock about their past.
The Hinata reveal had me like
Tumblr media
Can’t help but get like YYH vibes from it, if only because of the long hair and personality change. (Yusuke demon blood) I’d also been looking at his eyes every time he ronpas and I’m glad it finally came out
Anyway, *crying cat meme* Chiaki. Also Usami!!!
Tumblr media
I am not believing that this is all there is to Komaeda because how can that thing be a fan favorite. I think his Ultimate Luck was better utilized in the game vs Naegi’s, which made very fun and creative mysteries. I swore they mentioned that testing the virtual program warps your personality (I think they meant for the better) but i thought he was lab ratted so much that thats why he’s like that now. I also think the way he idolizes Hope and etc that it gives a different take on how one can define what Hope is.
NGL I was sooooo scared that Komaeda was like a warped Naegi because of Ogata. When “Naegi” came up in the middle of the trial I was like “of course hes gonna come back (Komaeda)” but it was not him 😂
Also I know that it’s not actually a character song and it’s just Ogata singing but I’m like, why does Komaeda get a song but Hinata doesn’t 🤨
Anyway, fun ride overall. The setting was definitely a nicer pace over the stuffy locked and bolted school. (Going back to glitchy Hopes Peak would have been nostalgic if I hadn’t played the first game like a month ago lol)
Gonna get all the shinmitsus and pictures (if I can) before moving onto the next gamebut ngl im like, not super excited to get through them since there seems to be 6 convos for everyone and im not interested in half the cast.

Let’s start this!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*walks in, as carrying a laptop and clipboard* Hello...
Tumblr media
Finally, there you are! You really took a long time and I'm still confused of what's going on?
Tumblr media
Also where's my camera, why don't I have it with me and what's even going on - you better answer my questions right this instant.
Tumblr media
Not yet, first I'll need to test your memory and see what you can recall and then I'll show you your camera.
Tumblr media
Huh? Really...?
Tumblr media
Well... okay, thank you...
Tumblr media
*walks over and sits by Mahiru's bedside which she places the laptop on her lap* Good, now we can get started...
Tumblr media
NAGI: Now you do you recognize this place?
Tumblr media
That's Hope's Peak Academy, I was suppose to attend that school as the Ultimate Photographer...
Tumblr media
Then me and the others got put into a killing game.
Tumblr media
Okay... next up...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
NAGI: What about these 2…?
Tumblr media
Yeah, I did remember them - that's Usami or Monomi and Monokuma, which those 2 place us in a killing game!
Tumblr media
Well Monokuma was the one that place you all in a killing game while Usami brought you here.
Tumblr media
Which I wouldn't be surprise if they were working together...
Tumblr media
Okay then, anyway, now do you remember these 2?
—————————————————————–
Tumblr media Tumblr media
—————————————————————–
Tumblr media
Oh... ye-yeah, I remember then - that's Yukio Miyahira and...
Tumblr media
And... Hatomi Sato, Yukio was the Ultimate Councilor while Hatomi was the Ultimate Archer... Hatomi was my best friend...
Tumblr media
I'm sorry if this brings up any awful memories for you, Mahiru.
Tumblr media
N-No... it's... it's fine, anyway continue...
Tumblr media
If you say so..., now you remember them, now time for the final question…
Tumblr media
NAGI: Aside from yourself, can you remember these people…?
Tumblr media
Yeah I think so...
Tumblr media
Then can you list them off?
Tumblr media
Sure thing, I'll list off...

CHIAKI, USAMI/MONOMI, AND MIKAN NOTICES THE READER HAS A S3LF H4RM SCAR (NO KILLING GAME)
Characters: Chiaki Nanami, Usami/Monomi, and Mikan Tsumiki
Pairings: Chiaki Nanami x Reader, Usami/Monomi and Reader (Platonically), Mikan Tsumiki x Reader
Warnings: Mention of S3lf H4rm and Mikan’s backstory (Mentions of abuse)
Post type: Headcanons
A/N: Sorry if Mikan’s part is short :”(
Word count: 638
✧ CHIAKI NANAMI
✎ You were in Chiaki’s cottage just chilling around while you watch her play video games on the consoles, she was just laying on your chest while you wrapped your arms around her
✎ She asked you why you wear long sleeves
✎ However, you decided to change the topic to something fun and not answer her question
✎ Chiaki knows something is wrong but doesn't push you to say it
✎ An hour has passed and it's getting midnight so you decided to go back to your cottage
✎ "Uhm, I should go back now. I'll see you tomorrow 'kay?"
✎ You stand up and walked to the door
✎ But Chiaki held your wrist which makes you flinch and stings
✎ "Huh? Is your wrist bleeding?" She said letting go of your wrist
✎ You turned around "What? No!" you were sweating and anxious
✎ Chiaki already knew you were lying and she needed to know this situation
✎ “S/o, let me see your wrist.” She said calmly
✎ You give her your wrist and show her the scars on your wrist
✎ Her eyes widen and she quickly pulled you into a hug
✎ “You know if you’re having a difficult time you can just tell me..”
✎ The next day Chiaki is patching you up :) and made a pinky promise you would never do it again
✧ USAMI/MONOMI
✎ She won’t understand why you have a scar on your wrist, she will probably think it was an accident or someone hurt you
✎ Of course, she will get worried and tell you what’s wrong
✎ If you refuse to tell her it’s fine she respects you but will give you a speech to take care of yourself like what she would often do to the students.
✎ She would ask either Sonia or Chiaki why is the reason you have a scar on your wrist
✎ They will tell her that you are having a difficult moment and the way to relieve that is to hurt yourself
✎ Man, this poor innocent stuffed animal will be so shocked and disappointed in you, but why did you try to hurt yourself to make everything better? She didn’t understand anything.
✎ The next morning, Usami decided to talk to you about this
✎“[name], I noticed that you are hurting yourself. But why?”
✎ You couldn’t respond to it, you just shook your head and pretend that you never did it
✎ “You know hurting yourself is a big no-no-no right? So please don’t do it!”
✎ “If you ever need someone to talk to, the Magical Miracle Girl ★ Usami...A.K.A. Usami your squeezably soft teacher will help you out!” She said with confidence
✎ Will ask Mikan to bandage up your scars ^^
✎ Usami also cares about the other students too! But no one pays attention to her except for Sonia, Chiaki, and you
✧ MIKAN TSUMIKI
✎ Please protect this human at all cost
✎ She’ll understand what’s wrong with the situation
✎ Because she experienced it herself :(
✎ She was abused from a very young age so she take care of herself
✎ Would ask what happened to your wrist though, to make sure if you’re alright
✎ Will apologize if she makes you uncomfortable or annoys you
✎ (PLEASE SAY IT'S OKAY)
✎ Will take care of the scar on your wrist
✎ Bandages you up like hers
✎ Gives kisses to your wrist so it can heal easily
✎ Please give her kisses and loves too!
✎ “H-hey s/o? Do you p-p-promise not to do this again..?”
✎ Mikan is really sweet and caring, although she can over-apologizing
✎ But there's nothing wrong with that, right? :)

Hajime Hinata
Tumblr media
Glancing up at the sky, you noted the cool atmosphere that contrasted the island’s usual warm weather. The clouds almost completely submerged the sun. There was a slight breeze, making it the perfect weather to walk around.
Currently, you were on your way to meet Hajime at Jabberwock Park. He had asked you if you wanted to hang out with him during “Free Time”, something that Usami created so that everyone could interact with each other and collect Hope Fragments, and you agreed.
You were rather fond of the boy, and you had hoped that this was his way of asking you on a date. Of course, you didn’t want to get your hopes up.
As you approached the park, shuddering at the odd statue that never failed to creep you out, a tall figure entered your vision. Quickly identifying the figure as Hajime, a smile spread across your face. Picking up your pace, you raised your arm to wave at him, watching as he returned the gesture.
“Hey, Hajime!” You stopped in front of him, grinning.
“Oh, hey y/n.” He gave you one of his signature awkward smirks, not knowing where to go from there. The two of you stood awkwardly, neither of you were sure what to do.
“The scenery is so nice…” He hesitantly spoke, avoiding eye contact with you. You snickered, finding his embarrassment cute.
“Yeah, that statue kind of ruins it, though.” You jokingly commented, pointing to the same statue you were shuddering at just moments ago.
“Heh, yeah.” Chuckling, he scratched the back of his neck, “Uh,, Wanna take a walk?”
“Oh, sure.” Backing up slightly, you let him lead the way. It took him a few seconds to understand, but he eventually caught on and started walking. You followed, speeding up to walk by his side.
As you trod through the island, you occasionally commented on how beautiful it was. You hadn’t really had much time to truly admire the place you had been staying at for the past week, but it really was something. It made you wonder who exactly built all of it. The buildings couldn’t have just appeared out of thin air... right?
“This looks like a great spot for napping.” Hajime pointed out, causing you to snap out of your thoughts. You followed Hajime’s line of vision, your eyes landing on a patch of green grass next to a wide tree with large roots.
“Yeah, it does. Maybe if we get tired we can rest here.” You agreed, making a mental note of the spot’s location.
It was getting a little warmer, so Hajime suggested going to the Movie Theater. Monomi had a couple of screenings scheduled for some random movies that she picked out, so he figured the two of you could go over there, get some snacks and/or drinks, and sit in the cold theater. It didn’t really matter what was playing by the time you got there, you could just watch whatever looked the best.
After deciding on a movie and picking out your sustenance of choice, you settled into your seats and waited for the movie to start.
Surprisingly, you had arrived a little early, so you talked to each other a little bit before the movie started.
Soon enough, the lights dimmed, and the film projected onto the screen in front of you. Leaning back in your seats, you redirected your attention to the screen.
About halfway through the movie, you noticed Hajime shivering beside you. Observing carefully as he moved his hands to hold his arms, rubbing them gently, you came to the conclusion that he was cold. Shrugging off your jacket, you handed it to him.
He glanced over at you, eyes widening slightly. “You sure..? I mean, I’ll be fine, It isn’t that bad-” Your eyes shifted to him, nodding without hesitation. “Alright... Thank you.”
Hesitantly, he took the heavy article of clothing, tugging it over his shoulders. Just then you thought you heard someone dramatically gasp from behind you, so you turned your head towards the source of the noise.
You made eye contact with Ibuki, who wiggled her eyebrows intensely at you. She jumped out of her seat, moving to lean over the one in front of her “Oooooooooooh, y/n~” She sang, “Ibuki didn’t know you had a boyfriend~~”
Before you could respond, Mikan exclaimed “I-Ibuki, it’s not polite to talk during a movie! Oh, now I’m d-doing it! I’m sorry!”
Ibuki simply giggled, giving the two of you a quick wink before plopping back down in her seat next to the Ultimate Nurse.
Facing forward once more, your face grew hot. You glanced over at Hajime, who was just as flustered as you were, before refocusing on the movie.
Once the movie finished, you left the theater, deciding on what to do next. “Sitting in that cold, dark theater for that long made me all sleepy.” You yawned, stopping to stretch your limbs.
“We could go back to that spot in Jabberwock Park if you want?” Hajime suggested.
“Hm... sure!” You agreed, recalling the cozy looking spot next to the tree you saw earlier.
The long walk to Jabberwock Park had exhausted you even further, making you glad you had come there to rest. Propping yourself against the tree’s slightly uncomfortable trunk, you shifted around a bit to find a better position. You watched as Hajime stood in front of you, looking around awkwardly. “Hey, what are you waiting for?” You questioned, patting the space next to you.
“Oh... Isn’t that kind of,, weird? I mean, I wouldn’t want to make you uncomfortable-”
“What are you talking about, you weirdo? If I didn’t want to be near you, I wouldn’t have offered. Why are you making such a big deal out of this?” You cut him off, somewhat amused by his nervous behavior.
Unable to think of a good response, or any response at all, the boy simply closed his mouth and sat down near you (still making sure to keep his distance).
The sun soon disappeared behind the clouds once more, creating the perfect weather for the setting. Jeez, this island was pretty bipolar. It wasn’t long before the breeze came back, only stronger this time, making it a bit too cold for your liking. You shuddered, missing the warmth of your coat. Hajime noticed this, offering to return it to you. You politely declined, knowing that he would then be cold. “But it’s your jacket. You were smart enough to bring one, and you shouldn’t have to sit there and be uncomfortable because of me.”
“Hajime, I’ll be fine.” You reassured him, still slightly quivering.
“Here,” He handed it over to you anyway, “I really think that you should wear it.”
“No, I told you I didn’t need it.” You protested, shoving the jacket into his chest. “Just take it!”
“But it’s yours.” He pushed it back over to you, causing you to let out a sigh.
“You’re pretty stubborn, you know that?” You pulled the cloth over your chest, wearing it as a blanket rather than a jacket. He didn’t say anything in return, trembling and crossing his arms. “See, you’re still cold!”
“No, I’m not.” He replied in a harsh tone, clenching his jaw to hide the chattering of his teeth.
Scanning your brain for a solution, you got an idea. Sure, it was a little weird, but it seemed like the best option at the time. “Hey, we could... share it?”
“W-What?” He asked, still refusing to make eye contact with you.
“The jacket. We could, you know, share it? We’ll have to sit a bit closer together, but I think it’s big enough to cover both of us.” You scooted over to him, lifting the jacket over his body. You noticed how it almost immediately warmed him, causing him to unclench his jaw. “Better?”
“...Yeah.” He admitted, nuzzling into the soft fabric. You sat in a comfortable silence, resting and enjoying each other's company.
Somewhere along the line, you both had fallen asleep, gently leaning against each other. You woke up to the sound of giggling, opening your eyes to see your classmates towering over you. “Huh?” You uttered out, rubbing the sleep out of your eyes.
“Aw, nice! These photos came out perfect!” Mahiru exclaimed, looking through a set of pictures she just took.
“Wow, two Ultimates working together to overcome the despair-inducing weather, how... hopeful!” Nagito cackled, holding his arms out in the air. Looking closely, one might notice the spirals spinning in his eyes.
“See? See? Ibuki knew it was official!” Jumping up and down, Ibuki pointed towards the two of you, a satisfied grin stretched across her features.
Finally waking up from all the commotion, Hajime groaned in displeasure.
“Oh, good. You’re up. Now you both can leave.” Byakuya spoke, crossing his arms tightly to his chest in a smug manner.
“Leave? Wait... How did you even know we were here?” Hajime questioned.
“We didn’t! We had to look all over the island for you idiots!! Jeez, Hajime! Couldn’t you have picked a place that was easier to find to get into y/n’s pants??” Hiyoko screeched, pointing a small finger at the boy.
“W-What? I’m not trying to get into their pants!” Hajime threw his hands up in defense, suddenly seeming much more alert.
“You totally were! Man, Hajime, you’re pretty bold.” Kazuichi scratched the back of his head, smirking.
“I am sorry to interrupt!, but,, shouldn’t we be heading back now? Usami sent us out to find them hours ago!” Sonia worriedly exclaimed, holding her hands together.
“Yeah!, you all listen to Miss Sonia!” Kazuichi continued simping over Sonia, clear discomfort displayed on the princess’ features.
“Huh? Usami sent you to look for us?” You questioned.
“Well yeah, you two have been gone for a long time, and nobody knew where you were. We- I mean, they were all worried about you!” Fuyuhiko yelled, his face turning a very intense shade of ‘Mahiru hair red’.
“Ibuki tried telling them that you were on a suuuuuuuper romantic date, but they wouldn’t listen!” She pouted.
“But we’re not on a-”
“Hey, hey. Maybe we should get going now?” Chiaki spoke in her usual sleepy voice.
The group agreed, helping you up and walking back to the island.
After another very intense debate over who should wear your jacket, considering the fact that it was still very cold outside, Hajime finally gave up and wore it the whole way back to the cottages (causing a lot of playful remarks from your peers).
When you finally returned to the first island, you had decided to go back to your cottage. Hajime walked you to the door, which was on the opposite side of his, to say a quick goodbye. You weren’t sure why he insisted on walking with you, there was really no point. If anything, that just made it feel more like a date, which wasn’t exactly helping your situation.
“So... I guess this was kind of like a date, huh?” He asked, sweating profusely.
“I mean, yeah... I guess you could say it was? It’s not like you really asked me out officially or anything, but…” Trailing off, you thought about whether or not you could truly consider whatever this was a ‘date’.
“Well, uh- would you like to? Go on a date? With me? Like,, a real one?” You could see the sweat leaking through his shirt, mildly grossing you out, but you understood that it wasn’t really something he could control.
“Yeah, that’d be great.” You agreed, grinning from cheek to cheek. His expression lit up, no longer seeming nervous (though, the sweat kind of threw you off).
“Really?!” You could hear the excitement in his voice, which made you laugh a little.
You gave a quick nod, “Ooh, maybe we can go to the diner this time!”
“Yeah, sure.” He smiled in return.
You stood there for a moment, enjoying the silence. Eventually, Hajime spoke up, “Well, I guess I should leave now.”
“Alright… goodbye, Hajime.” You replied in a hushed tone, giving a quick wave before turning around to walk into your cottage. Hajime’s smile widened as he watched you close the door, on his way to return to his own cottage, only to stop in his tracks as he came face-to-face with every single one of his classmates.
“So cute~!” Mikan exclaimed, a genuine smile on her face. Several words of agreement sounded throughout the group, everyone fangirl/fanboying about the wholesome scene that just occured in front of them.
“S-Seriously? You guys were watching us this whole time??” Hajime’s entire face went red, startled and a bit embarrassed.
“Yeah, I’m surprised you didn’t notice. We were all just standing right here this whole time.” Kazuichi stated.
Hajime didn’t respond, simply walking past them and entering his cottage. Everyone just shrugged, going their own separate ways or walking off in small groups.

Damage Report.
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
She’s here!
*Hina lurches to her feet, as Miaya Gekkogahara suddenly enters the room on her wheelchair. Taka, Byakuya and Chihiro are also all waiting for her.
Tumblr media
Thank you for the warm welcome.
Tumblr media
My apologies for putting this task unto you.
Tumblr media
It’s fine...However, I must ask...Is Makoto not here to hear this?
Tumblr media
We could go and get him but...I think it would be best if he heard the details later.
Tumblr media
No. I’m hearing them right now.
Tumblr media
Ah! You’re here!
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
Very well...If you’re absolutely sure?
Tumblr media
I need to know the full story...I need to know if my actions at least had some relevance, even if only a little bit...
Tumblr media
...I see...I suppose, if that’s what gives you proper clearance...
*Miaya takes a deep “breath”.
Tumblr media
Well...to start off with, what you and Hina had been witnessing over that weekend was exactly what you thought it was.
Tumblr media
In current law lines, father’s don’t get priority over mothers when it comes to who takes ownership of their children after a divorce. It’s not correct, but because of past statistics, mother’s usually have an advantage when it comes to divorce court discussions.
Tumblr media
However...after being questioned, the mother confirmed that she had her own ulterior motive for wanting to keep Kazuki Watanabe around, being the child support funds she would get from government.
Tumblr media
It’s such an obvious ploy, but also a rather ingenious one.
Tumblr media
And...as you can imagine...Life after his father Blaise left was awful for Kazuki...
Tumblr media
They abused him...didn’t they...?
Tumblr media
...!
Tumblr media
The brief times I saw him before I saved him, he looked so skinny. Like they weren’t feeding him. He also had bruises and cuts on his arm.
Tumblr media
Normally I would think that they came from him playing but...they did that to him, didn’t they?
Tumblr media
...I’m sorry Makoto...Yes...
Tumblr media
...!
Tumblr media
Makoto...
Tumblr media
Why...WHY didn’t he say anything!?
Tumblr media
He couldn’t...
Tumblr media
Huh?
Tumblr media
What do you mean he couldn’t?
Tumblr media
That man...his mother’s lover always beat him...
Tumblr media
He threatened to kill him several times if he ever spoke to you Makoto. Or anyone for that matter. That’s why he always avoided you.
Tumblr media
...
*Makoto clenches his fist in rage.
Tumblr media
How long has this been going on!?
Tumblr media
To be honest...ever since his father left. Kazuki’s mother did admit to having been in an affair with that man before they broke up.
Tumblr media
Once Blaise left, they felt they had the freedom to do whatever they wanted with him.
Tumblr media
Those...bastards...!
Tumblr media
But what of the boy now? And of the abusers?
Tumblr media
Well, first and foremost, some good news is that Kazuki has made a very speedy recovery. Once he was taken to the nearest FF facility, he was given a meal and drinks. Then we got in contact with his father.
Tumblr media
How’s Blaise taking all of this?
Tumblr media
Not very well. But he immediately made his way over once we informed him of the situation. Nothing’s official yet, as we still need to stand trial, but with all that’s happened, it’s likely that he’ll be able to gain custody of the boy.
Tumblr media
That’s a relief...But then, that leads me to the part that worries me...
*Taka wryly glances at Makoto.
Tumblr media
What of the abusers? Kazuki Watanabe’s mother and her illicit lover?
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
Well...I did receive a medical damage report after the incident. Usami? You have it, don’t you?
Tumblr media
Yessiree! Watanabe’s mother’s injuries are surprisingly not that bad. She has a broken nose and several broken teeth, as well as a cracked rib...
Tumblr media
But other than her rearranged face, she’s still able to retain consciousness for at least a short while. She’s likely to make a recovery but...it’s also quite likely she’ll be serving prison time for child abuse and neglectful parenting. Same goes for the lover if he ever recovers.
Tumblr media
...W-What do you mean “IF he ever recovers.”
Tumblr media
The doctors who took him in believe that he will, but before he goes to court, he’ll have to make it through the hospital first.
Tumblr media
Yes...After all...he landed on his head after falling from three stories.
Tumblr media
He landed on his HEAD!?
Tumblr media
Right smack dab in the back of his cranium. The fact that he’s still alive is...honestly a miracle...
Tumblr media
You’re kidding me!
Tumblr media
!!?
Tumblr media
The doctors have assured me that if things keep going the way that they are, he’ll make a recovery in due time...However, he’s currently in a stress-induced coma, and they’ve declared it necessary to put him on life support.
Tumblr media
Provided that life support stays on, he’ll survive. But he’s likely to have permanent head damage for the rest of his life.
Tumblr media
As long as he’s not dead...Then I have no problems with saying that he deserved it...
Tumblr media
Well...I do...
Tumblr media
Huh?
*Taka suddenly stands up straight, and turns to Makoto.
Tumblr media
Why is it that it’s always the 14th Branch that produces the problem children of the Foundation?
Tumblr media
What?
Tumblr media
Have you not noticed? Between Mukuro Ikusaba, an old adversary of ours who was Junko Enoshima’s right hand girl before she became our friend; and Kuripa Kurafto, infamous for having a differing ideal and more violent tendencies to everyone else within the Foundation, and having badly acted on them in the past...
Tumblr media
Not even the Branch’s leader is free from irregularity when it comes to his actions.
Tumblr media
Are you saying it’s bad that we’re different?
Tumblr media
In this particular context, yes...
Tumblr media
As one of the leading figures of this entire worldwide conglomerate, you should know that part of the process of creating a just society is having a low level of  tolerance for important leaderships and standards. Part of my experience personally has been selecting what remained of society and picking leaders for each position, that were free from corruption and wouldn’t use the power they had as a weapon against society.
Tumblr media
What do you mean by that Taka?
Tumblr media
What I’m saying is that you hear a lot of stories about corrupt police officers who abuse their power and use it to kill people. Do you recall what Hajime said when talking about Ayumu Fujimori’s family? A police officer wanted to kill a man for petty reasons and was abusing his power as a cop to do so. That scandal led to Fujimori’s family trading him away.
Tumblr media
Police, and people who have power like you, or Kurafto do, or Mukuro did, all have the use of power and force that would allow them to easily kill people, and due to their status, it’s easy to denounce said actions. It’s easy for them to be accepted officially as a conclusion to a mission or case.
Tumblr media
It’s only thanks to people like the Future Foundation’s current lineup of leaders, like the 6 of us in this room, that the current ethics and rules of the profession are put in place in current post-tragedy society.
Tumblr media
Which is why I ask...Do such well-founded and genuine ideals of perfect security and comfort mean NOTHING to you, Makoto Naegi!?
Tumblr media
Wha-!?
*Taka points an assertive finger at Makoto, which causes everyone to take a few steps away from him.
Tumblr media
T-Taka, what’s wrong with you!?
Tumblr media
There’s nothing wrong with me. I’m just doing what I do best. Yelling about my ideals and the importance of public morals.
*He turns back to face Makoto after answering Chihiro’s question.
Tumblr media
Even up against a pair of abusive parents, for an uncertified individual such as yourself to use such over the top violent means to cause them harm...Doing so without clear instruction from your leaders or supervisors, is ultimate in grave violation of the rules.
Tumblr media
You taking a twisted justice into your own hands and acting out against people because of it, is in VIOLATION! OF THE RULES! And you should be PUNISHED for such an offense.
Tumblr media
!!?
Tumblr media
Taka!? H-How even could you!?
Tumblr media
Are you trying to say that Makoto shouldn’t have done anything!? If he hadn’t, Kazuki Watanabe would have been killed!
Tumblr media
Hey...! Hey, Hey!
Tumblr media
Miaya already said it! Kazuki was demanded not to speak out, else he would be killed! No one at the time realized what he was going through, and would have had no way of knowing!
Tumblr media
Are you REALLY saying Makoto should have stayed back and WATCHED as that boy nearly drowned in that washing machine!
*Despite Hina’s outburst, calmly, Taka turns around to look at her.
Tumblr media
Yes....Kazuki Watanabe was almost killed...
Tumblr media
But because he acted, two other people were almost killed...Are you saying that because those two were in the wrong, they deserved to die?
Tumblr media
Are you saying that as long as it turns out alright, and that the criminals are apprehended, it’s ok to commit crimes of your own?
Tumblr media
Is it not the job of the Future Foundation to save people!? To stop people like them!?
Tumblr media
*sigh* I hate saying this...Really, I do...but I still wonder why it is that Kyoko made you a Branch Chief...
Tumblr media
Wh-What? What does that mean!?
Tumblr media
Your strong sense of being able to tell what’s good and bad works in your favor, but it’s clear you’ve still got a lot to learn.
Tumblr media
For his actions against those two...It’s honestly a blessing that Makoto hasn’t been arrested and detained. After all, it’s a suitable punishment after what happened...
Tumblr media
!!?
Tumblr media
You damn UPTIGHT GOODY-TWO-SHOES BASTARD!!!
Tumblr media
Hina! Wait! Stop it! He’s right you know!?
Tumblr media
The reason why have rules in the Foundation against violence and murder is because we don’t want society to regress back to what it was! Corrupt powers who abuse their capabilities to rule society with an iron thumb!
Tumblr media
Kyoko wanted to avoid that with every possible outcome! You can’t just shut out what Taka says because-
Tumblr media
KYOKO’S GONE!!
Tumblr media
!!??
*Hina makes an advance towards Taka out of anger, with Chihiro stepping in front of her. As Chihiro tries to console her, she blurts this out.
Tumblr media
I know that everything you and Celeste said was right about me! I know I suck at being a Branch Chief! I don’t know WHY Kyoko picked me because I can’t do a damn thing without her help!
Tumblr media
But even so, I can’t just stand by and WATCH as you berate my friend! Just like Makoto couldn’t stand by and watch that boy get abused by those two!
Tumblr media
He’s supposed to be YOUR friend too, and yet you aren’t trying to defend him!? How can you be so-!?
Tumblr media
HINA! THAT’S ENOUGH!
Tumblr media
!!!??
*Byakuya suddenly booms, and the entire argument is cut clean like a knife through butter.
Tumblr media
Taka isn’t finished speaking. Before you get antsy, at least hear him out to the end.
Tumblr media
...Thank you.
*Hina stops and Taka continues.
Tumblr media
As I said before, Makoto should be duly punished, even if he doesn’t receive a prison sentence...However...
Tumblr media
That’s only my opinion as Branch 9′s leader.
Tumblr media
And as for the punishment, that is only the case if the finer details of the incident were to be made public.
Tumblr media
Huh?
Tumblr media
Wh-What do you mean? You mean we’re going to cover what happened up?
Tumblr media
You know we can’t do that! As I said, Kyoko wanted honesty when it came to the Foundation! Remember the Roiyariti Decree?
Tumblr media
Yes...The Roiyariti Decree states that whenever he Future Foundation takes on a case and completes it, the results need to be posted to a public outlet with 100%. That way, it means any corruption within the Foundation is snuffed out by the general public.
Tumblr media
Yes. I know it would be impudent of us to hide the major details of this case, but...
Tumblr media
We can still get away with obscuring them.
Tumblr media
Obscuring them? How do you mean?
Tumblr media
On the official documents of the decree, the Foundation is required to state how they dealt with the issue, ranging from physical means, emotional bargaining and negotiation, speeding up or slowing down the process, etc.
Tumblr media
However, we AREN’T legally required to state the finer details on the document. All we have to write is that this issue was dealt with through physical means. We don’t actually have to state what those physical means were.
Tumblr media
So as long as we report that Makoto dealt with the couple physically, we don’t have to say HOW?
Tumblr media
Exactly.
Tumblr media
If we were to state just what happened, there would be an uproar. I imagine there would be a large selection of people who would praise Makoto for what he did. However, that wouldn’t mean he would escape legal punishment.
Tumblr media
I admit. As someone who demands the whole truth, and as someone who never lies, I believe this is a bit underhanded.
Tumblr media
But if we were to go with this option, it would mean Makoto’s slate remains, at least in the eyes of the public, decently clean. The physical violent means of the case would stay, but no one would know just how enraged Makoto was. If anyone was to see the injuries, they would just interpret it as the couple putting up a very tough fight against him.
Tumblr media
And that would be that.
Tumblr media
That would be that indeed. What makes it better is that there were very few witnesses. Not even Hina and Munakata were there at the time.
Tumblr media
My point is, this violation could be crushed, right here and now. And we could all move on and forget about it.
*He turns back to Makoto.
Tumblr media
And personally speaking...I don’t want to be the one to find fault with someone like you, who’s always been a promising shining star in my eyes, just because of one mistake!
Tumblr media
Taka...!
Tumblr media
I mean it. You’re a great friend, and an even greater teacher. And it’s not like all of the blame for this incident rests upon you either.
Tumblr media
You’ve been struggling lately, which is why you acted out, and we collectively need to take responsibility for being negligent friends.
Tumblr media
No! No, that’s not it! I’m...
*Makoto bows apologetically.
Tumblr media
I’m really sorry you guys...
Tumblr media
If you’re sorry, then never do something like this again. What you did was excessive, and you should never be praised for it...But for what it’s worth...
Tumblr media
Huh!?
*Makoto stands up and staggers back, as Taka suddenly bows to him.
Tumblr media
You are a hero in the eyes of that young boy. And you rightfully should be.
Tumblr media
No matter my own feelings on how the situation was handled, one thing among everything else is clear. You saved that young man from a life of trauma, or maybe even an equally traumatic death. As someone who is set on protecting the peace of the world, you have my utmost thanks!
Tumblr media
...Taka...
Tumblr media
Hehe...
Tumblr media
*sigh* Chaa-rist...Maybe START with that next time?
Tumblr media
Gahahaha! Well, I didn’t expect anything less.
Tumblr media
If I may interject for a moment?
*Miaya wheels forward.
Tumblr media
Makoto...Take a walk with me.
Tumblr media
Huh?
Tumblr media
There are some things I wish to talk to you about. And before you ask, no one put me up to this.
Tumblr media
...Alright...
*Makoto turns to the group.
Tumblr media
I...I guess I’ll see you guys in a bit.

Tropical Vacation pt. 5
Hey hi hello! I'm back at it again with another chapter! I'm scheduling this one to post so I don't forget. I really really liked this one, I put two of my favorite ships In here because of course I did. Kuzuhina and Komanami honestly make my gay heart happy. <3
Characters In this part: Lee!Hajime, Ler!Fuyuhiko, Chiaki, Nagito, Chihiro
Word count: 2,177
Part 1: [Click or tap here!] Part 2: [Click or tap here!] Part 3: [Click or tap here!] Part 4: [Click or tap here!] Part 5: You are here.
After the sun went down, Chihiro found that they couldn’t sleep, so they decided to sneak out of their room to go get something to drink. They took a detour down the stairs after they heard some soft murmuring coming from the lobby.
Upon investigating they found Chiaki playing video games while Nagito watched, chatting to her all the while. As they stepped closer to see what the game was, the floorboards creaked, Nagito and Chiaki’s attention snapped over to The Programmer who blushed in embarrassment for having interrupted them.
“I-I’m sorry! I was just on my way to get something to drink and… I was just curious what you were playing.” they sheepishly explained, looking down at the floor.
Chiaki smiled. “It’s okay,” she said softly, glancing back at the arcade machine. “I’m not sure what the game Is called, The letters are too faded for me to make out. You can come look If you want.”
“Ah! N-No I’ve distracted you enough, I don’t want to be In your way or anything.”
“Really, It’s okay.” She reassured them. “Come join us, Nagito doesn’t bite. If he says something that weirds you out, I’ll handle him.”
Nagito glanced at her nervously before looking at Chihiro. “Chiaki doesn’t bite either… She just tickles.” He smiled in exasperation.
Chihiro hesitated for a moment longer before approaching the two sitting on the bench.
It was a custom bench that Kazuichi made for her and Nagito. He made it after constantly seeing Chiaki sitting playing the game while Nagito either stood next to her or sat on the edge of the machine out of her way and watched. The two had become nearly inseparable over the last month, No one understood why. Chiaki never gave a straight answer when asked, always coming up with a joking answer to their question.
She scooted over, her leg pressing up against Nagito’s as she patted the seat next to her. He put his arm behind her back, his hand resting against the edge of the bench on the other side of her.
Chihiro sat down, studying the machine curiously. “What Is it like?”
“There’s a couple of games programmed into it, But this one is like Pac-man, with Monokuma’s head instead of Pacman. And the ghosts are different colored Usami’s.” Chiaki explained, hitting the start button on it.
The blue lights lit up the dim room and soft 8 bit sounds filled the quiet space, Chihiro smiled as they watched the game enthusiastically. It’s been so long since they’ve seen a video game.
After a few minutes Chiaki paused and turned to Chihiro. “Do you want to play?”
“Wh-What? No, I couldn’t. You’re playing, I don’t want to take over.”
“It’s no problem, It might be nice to watch someone else play for once.” she smiled, to get out of Chihiro’s way, she crawled up into Nagito’s lap, startling him. Apparently he had been zoning out.
“Are you sure…?”
“Mhm. Just hit that button to start.” She replied, pointing to the bright blue button.
Chihiro scooted over so that they were directly in front of the screen now, and hit the button to start. Instantly they were flooded with nostalgia as they remembered all those times they went to the arcade with friends.
They were pretty decent at the game too, once they figured out the A.I’s algorithm they were even able to get a high score.
“Wow, You beat one of my scores.” Chiaki remarked, surprised. Albeit pleasantly so.
“Ah! I-I’m sorry! You probably spent really long trying to fill up the leaderboard!”
“No, No, you’re okay. Really. It’s only a couple of numbers.” She reassured with a gentle smile. “I’m just glad you’re having fun… You really do apologize a lot, Don’t you?”
“I-I’m sorry.” Chihiro blushed. “W-Wait, No. I just… I guess I do apologize a lot… I’m sorr--”
Chiaki poked their side, causing them to squeak and stop mid apology. “That’s exactly my point. You don’t have to apologize so much… You’re okay.”
“Still, It’s impressive how quickly you were able to catch on to the A.I’s patterns and use It against It.” Nagito commented with a smile. “I guess that’s why you’re the Ultimate Programmer! You’re able to spot those things pretty easily I would imagine.”
Chihiro smiled sheepishly at the praise. “Yeah, I’m used to analyzing any kind of coding I can find. I like to deconstruct the coding and see how It works.”
“Kind of like Kazuichi when he finds something well built.” Chiaki replied, nodding In understanding.
“I’m glad there’s someone else here that understands these video games and how they work, I’m pretty useless when It comes to them.”
Chiaki narrowed her eyes as she turned to look at Nagito. “You aren’t useless.”
“Ah! Nonono- I didn’t mean It like that! I just meant I’m not good at games!” He quickly put his hands up in defense.
“I’ve got my eyes on you…” Chiaki mumbled, slowly looking away from him.
Chihiro giggled at the two, blushing and squeaking when they realized that they had giggled out loud and Chiaki and Nagito were now looking at them. “I-I’m sorry! I just-- eep!”
They yelped as Chiaki squeezed their side. “Stop apologizing, I mean It. If you apologize one more time, I’ll give you the same treatment I give him when he talks badly about himself.” She warned playfully.
“O-Okay, S-Sor…” They stopped themselves.
Chiaki climbed out of Nagito’s lap as he went to stand up and stretch. “Hey, You wanna try a multiplayer game?” She asked, Chihiro nodded eagerly and the two began to play a new game.
Nagito curled up on the couch, watching his girlfriend happily playing with her new friend. He smiled to himself as he whispered. “It’s moments like these that give me the most hope, watching you be happy Is the best hope of all.”
“Huh? Did you hear something?” Chihiro asked.
Chiaki shrugged. “Must’ve been the game…” though she glanced over her shoulder at Nagito and smiled at him, seemingly she heard him.
Later on In the night Fuyuhiko jolted awake as he heard his doorbell ring, that uneasy feeling was returning to him as he slowly approached the door. Upon checking his e-handbook he discovered It was two In the morning. He jumped when whoever was at his door knocked.
“You’re a yakuza for fucks sake.” He muttered to himself. “Stop being such a little bitch.”
He swung the door open quickly, immediately relaxing upon seeing It was just Hajime. “Oh… It’s just you…” He sighed softly, stepping aside to let him in.
“Sorry Hiko, I know It’s really late… But I couldn’t get to sleep.” Hajime apologized as he came Inside and shut and locked the door behind him.
“Yeah, I can’t really sleep either. I just dozed off for a couple of minutes.” He replied, setting down on the foot of his bed.
Hajime came over and sat down next to him. “You still worried about the students too?” He asked quietly, Fuyuhiko nodded silently.
Hajime smiled a little, putting his hand on top of his. “Yeah me too.” He said. “But for what it’s worth, I won’t let anything happen to you.”
Hiko blushed, though he would vehemently deny such a thing. “H-Hey, I’m not a damn kid! I don’t need to be protected!”
The depressed student put his arm around the Yakuza’s shoulders and pulled him into his side in an affectionate half hug. “Fuyu, There Is nothing you can do that’ll convince me not to protect you.”
Fuyuhiko smirked slyly as he rested his head on the taller man’s shoulder. “Nothing, huh?”
“Nope, Sorry.”
Hajime closed his eyes, finally feeling himself relax a bit now that he was with Hiko. He'd had some horrible dreams of Fuyuhiko getting hurt or… worse.
However as usual, his relaxed state didn’t last long before It was ruined. The feeling of fingers ghosting against his sides under his shirt made him jolt back to reality with a string of tired giggles. “Hehehehiko Ehehehehehe… w-what ahahare you doing?”
“What’s It look like, Dumbass? I’m tickling you.” He retorted, amused.
Hajime continued to giggle as he squirmed, gently pushing at the Yakuza. “I cahahahan seehehehehe that, but whyhyhy?”
Fuyuhiko began to tickle Hajime’s belly, causing his giggling to quickly turn into laughter. “I’m showing you I can protect myself.”
“Byhyhyhy tickling mehehehe?! Ahahahaha!” He laughed, doubling over to try to block his stomach.
“If I can take you down, Imagine what I could do to someone else.” He grinned cheekily, tweaking his hips.
“GAHA! Ahahahahahahaha! Thahahahahat doesn’t prohohove anything! Ihihihi’m eheheheasy to tahahake down!” Hajime complained, falling backwards on the bed.
Fuyu was quick to settle himself on the brunette’s hips, his fingers nimbly dancing all across his sides. “Then how are you gonna protect me?? You should just let me protect you.”
“FUHUHUHUYU! NAHAHAT THE SIHIHIHIDES!” He yelped as he switched tactics to squeeze at the sensitive spot. “AHAHAHAHAHAA! STAHAHAAP!”
“Then stop all that crap about protecting me,” Fuyuhiko rolled his eyes.
“NOHOHOHO!”
Well, mistakes were made.
“No?? No!?” Hiko repeated as he leaned down, blowing a raspberry against his side. “What do you mean, No!?”
Hajime screamed, his laughter going up an octave as he arched his back from the sensation. “GAHAHAHAHAHAHA! NAHAHAT THAHAHAAT! PLEHEHEHEASE!”
“I’m a Yakuza, I can protect my damn self!” He reminded him with another raspberry to his side. “Just cut that crap out, It bothers me.”
“WHYHYHYHYHY DOES IT BOHOHOHOTHER YOU??”
“Because when you say that It makes me think that--” Fuyuhiko stopped, his fingers resting on Hajime’s side as he suddenly grew silent.
Hajime giggled tiredly as he recovered from the tickle attack, he looked up at Hiko with a questioning look. “I-It makes you think what?”
He shook his head slightly, looking away from the taller man’s gaze.
The trapped Ultimate reached his hands up, gently cupping the Yakuza’s face as he turned his face back to look at him. “What does It make you think?” he repeated softly.
“It makes me think that something Is going to happen… to you…” He said quietly, reaching his hands up to rest against his.
Hajime frowned as Fuyu pulled out of his gentle hold and got off of him, opting to sit next to him instead. “Hiko, nothing Is gonna happen.”
“Then why would you say that?” The blond asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Because… I had horrible nightmares about something happening to you, and It makes me feel better to say that. It makes me feel like I have some kind of control over this.” He explained, sitting up.
Fuyuhiko’s face softened as he looked Into Hajime’s eyes. “Is that why you came over…?”
“Yeah.” He sighed, pulling him into his lap. “I had to see with my own eyes that you were okay.”
Hiko frowned as he wrapped his arms around Hajime, resting his head against his chest. “I couldn’t sleep because I was scared as soon as I did I would be woken up to the body discovery announcement…”
Hajime pecked a kiss to the top of his head, silent. He wasn’t sure how to make this situation better for either of them, the fact of the matter is that they’re never safe. Monokuma is always throwing out motives to try to tempt the students into killing, and there’s always that fear in the back of his mind that someone might fall for it one day.
“Hajime? Can you…” He trailed off, stopping his train of thought.
“What?”
“N-Nothing. Nevermind.”
“Hiko…? What Is It?”
“Forget I said anything.”
Hajime frowned, reaching his hand up the Yakuza’s sleeping shirt and brushing his fingers against his side. “Tell me, Or I’ll tickle you.” He gave an ultimatum.
Fuyu flinched at the gentle touch, his body shivering. “Fucking hell,” He muttered under his breath. “F-Fine! I was going to ask you If you’d stay with me tonight.”
Fuyuhiko blushed bright pink as he buried his face in Hajime’s chest without waiting for a response.
“Fuyu…”
“That’s why I told you to forget I said anything. Because It’s stupid.” He mumbled.
Hajime smiled warmly as he soothingly ran his fingers up and down the smaller man’s back. “It’s not stupid.” He said softly. “Yeah, I’ll stay the night with you.”
“You don’t have to if you don’t want to…”
“Hey, Look at me.” Hajime gently pulled the blond back to look in his eyes. “There’s no place I’d rather be than with you. Besides, I might actually get some sleep If I know you’re safe.”
Fuyuhiko blushed even more as he smiled. “Yeah, Me too.”
Hajime leaned in and planted a soft kiss to his forehead, stroking his cheekbone with his thumb. “You’re so cute, especially when you smile.” he teased lightly.
The blond narrowed his eyes as his neck turned pink from embarrassment.
“Hiko? H-Hey… Wait! DOHOHON’T! AHAHAHAHA!”
Welp, It was worth It to harass his boyfriend. At least Hajime didn’t mind being tickled, At least not by Fuyuhiko.

Fic Prompts: Free Day Thursday
(Part of a story I write purely for my own amusement, in which All Might befriends the Midoriyas when Izuku is 4, and ends up helping take care of him when Inko is at work.)
Toshinori didn’t usually stop on the daycare floors in costume. All Might was someone the children saw at events for the employees, or in passing, but not often. Which made it significant when All Might turned up outside the Sprout room one afternoon in late June. There wasn’t any particular occasion, in fact, the primary reason was that he’d had a question for Izuku and had completely forgotten to transform back into “Mr. Yagi”.  By the time he’d realized his mistake, it was too late. The door opened, and All Might got an eyewitness look at sheer chaos.
The normally clean room looked like a war zone. Bright swathes of color marred the walls, and dripped down like fresh paint. Of the nine children present that day, seven were equally colored in the paint-like substance, as if there’d been a hose turned on them. They all looked dazed, and a bit confused, and none were more dismayed than the teachers. In the midst of it all stood little Terada Riko, staring down at her hands with a huge smile on her face.
All Might didn’t know the Terada girl terribly well, the preschooler was the daughter of someone who worked in the Might Productions merchandise department. But he was fairly certain she hadn’t had black markings like a domino mask around her eyes when he’d dropped Izuku off that morning. The ends of the tentacle-like growths that served as Riko’s hair were the same color as the stains on the walls and the other children, though they were shifting from yellow to teal.
Everyone was so shocked that evidently they didn’t even notice All Might standing in the doorway. Until Izuku happened to look up, a long blue stripe coating him from forehead to chest, and jumped.
“There’s a reas’nable explanation for this!” he yelped, flinging out his hands in a semi-placating gesture that was probably the result of being around Sir Nighteye so often.
The adults gasped when they saw him, and Ms. Koshiba and Ms. Akagi began apologizing for the mess.
“Is everyone alright?” All Might asked with a bewildered grin, “What happened?”
“All Might, Riko just got her quirk!” Izuku crowed, pointing to the slightly squid-ish girl. “It’s awesome!”
Oh dear. Well, that certainly explained the surprised looks on everyone. All Might ducked through the doorway and took stock of the situation.
“Well congratulations, Young Terada!” he said, beaming down at the tiny girl. “How does it work?”
“I can shoot paint, All Might!” Riko said, hopping up and down. “Right outta my fingers, like Mama! Except hers isn’t paint, it’s sticky-goo bullets.”
All Might laughed. “Well that certainly explains the colors!”
“Yeah!” Riko held up her hands as if for inspection. “I bet that’s from Papa! He can make stuff change colors!”
Ms. Akagi recovered her bearings a bit and went to get a wet cloth to start wiping off the children’s faces. “What are you going to call your quirk, Terada?” she asked.
Riko thought for a few seconds, then smiled even wider. “Paint Gun!” she said brightly.
“Good idea, Riko!” Izuku said encouragingly. “I bet you could do all kinds of things with a quirk like that. What do you want to do?”
“Imma be a deteckive like Mama!” Riko replied carelessly.
“Not a hero?” Nao asked, tilting her head.
“Nah,” Riko shrugged. “I wanna be like Mama.”
“And I bet she’d be really happy to hear that!” All Might said with a nod and a smile. “But for now, I think we should probably help clean up in here, huh?”
Despite the embarrassed protests of the teachers, All Might insisted on scrubbing the paint -- it was really more like ink -- off the highest parts of the walls (good grief the Terada girl had some impressive trajectory) himself. The children were all lined up on the tile and sent one-by-one into the bathroom to change into the little smocks the Sprout room kept around in case of accidents. There was a slight incident when Reika decided that she just...didn’t want to put the smock on, and Ms. Koshiba had to get involved to prevent the three year old from running out of the bathroom in her frilly underpants. But aside from that, before long all seven of the Painted Preschoolers were wearing clean, dry clothes and somewhat reluctantly letting Ms. Akagi wipe the paint from their faces.
“We’re very sorry about the mess, All Might,” Mrs. Usami sighed. “Was there something you needed us for?”
Ah. Rats. He needed a good explanation, and quickly. He hemmed and hawed, then scratched his cheek. “Ah...I’ll be honest, I had more of a plan in mind before I opened the door. My thoughts got a little derailed there.”
Think, All Might! Thinkthinkthinkthinkthink-
“Actually!” he perked up as the idea struck him, “Would it be possible for me to borrow Young Midoriya? He usually eats lunch with Yagi, right? Since Yagi’s been, er, really….really busy today…” he tried not to think of the seven different reports from that morning alone that he needed to complete… “I thought maybe I could just take him up to his office, and save him the trip.”
The other children gasped.
“Big kids get all the fun,” Hikaru pouted.
“Luckyyyy!” Yuuki grumbled.

As Hajime cut through the thick, creepy, green forest, he glanced back at his two allies. Kaziuchi and Chiaki were a great help in this journey.
Kaziuchi being his childhood friend and Chiaki being his mentor for his mission to joining his father, Makoto Naegi and the rest of the hopeful gods up on Mount Hope. He desired to be one of them for it was his destiny.
“So Chiaki...where are we going exactly?”
the toothy boy questioned, his neon green jump-suit didn’t blend in very well with the forest.
“We are traveling to Towa City. Hajime would get a better start on his quest if we started there.”
She replied before bringing her hand to her mouth to quiet down her yawns
“And when are we going to get there exactly? Not that I don’t trust ya but this place seems a lil shady”
Kaziuchi tried all of his might not to shudder at the thought of being trapped here forever, running in circles before they all go mad with despair.
“As soon as we make it through the ruins of The Ultimate Academy for Gifted Juveniles-”“THERE’S MORE TO GO THROUGH????”
Chiaki glared at Kaziuchi before going back to explaining herself. However, she was cut off
“UGH LET GO OF ME YOU SICK ROBO-TOY”
They all stopped and Hajime raced towards the voice, not even comprehending what he was doing
With the other two following, they soon hide behind a bush.
And there you were in the tough hold of a exisal, struggling to get out of its grasp in the middle of a river
Hajime’s concerned face soon turned into a mighty glare
“Alright now remember Hajime,1.Analysis the situation. Don’t just go in there without thinking-”
Chiaki and Kaziuchi turned their heads to Hajime’s direction only to see he wasn’t there.
They turned their heads only to see Hajime striding up to the opponent his eyes gleaming with rage.
“Oh boy.”
Kaziuchi gulped
“He’s losing points for this”
Chiaki dead-panned
“Halt!”
As soon as Hajime spat out those words, the robot and the girl turned to him, one shocked and the other emotionless.
The exisal then crouched to Hajime’s level and seemed to be analyising him.
“My uh..”
He looked over the exisal once
“ good friend.”
“I’ll have to ask you to release that young-”
He gestured to you
“Keep moving, junior”  “lady...But you- are-aren’t you...a damsel in despair?”
“I’m a damsel. I’m in despair. I can handle this. Have a nice day~”
You answered coolly despite struggling through out the sentence to get out of the grip you were in.
Hajime then cleared his throat
“Ma’am I’m afraid you might be too close to the situation to realize-”
Before he could get his hope sword ready for battle, he was flung across the land and into the water.
Chiaki winced
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING??GET YOUR SWORD!!” “Sword. Right right, rule #15 a hero’s only as good as his weapon!”
He scampered for his sword as the exisal neared closer.
As the exisal was nearing closer, Hajime pulled out his weapon to the robot which was not his sword but a nearly broken monokuma that ran for it’s life seeing the exisal.
Kaziuchi’s bellowing laughter in the background while Chiaki elbowed him to keep quiet did no affect while you rested your hand on your chin, expressing boredom and disappointment.
Before Hajime could even react again, he was punched square in the cheek sending him flying into a nearby stone.
“COME ON HAJIME CONCENTRATE”  “use your head Hajime!”
When Chiaki said those words, he parted his from the tree and came charging at the exisal with the power of hope, like a bull charging towards a red flag.
The exisal flew across the forest before landing into a waterfall, glitching slightly
“ALRIGHT,NOT BAD!”  “not what I had in mind but not bad indeed”
You fell downwards into the river, rendering yourself wet all over before sitting up and spitting out the water that landed in your mouth.
Hajime turned to you and lifted you up bridal style if anyone lifts you up bridal style you immediately know. That’s the one your gonna spend the rest of your life with.
He placed you on a stone near his friend and mentor.
“Oh Usami. I’m really sorry that was dumb...:”
You opened your eyes to look at Hajime
“Yeah definitely”
Hajime looked back to the exisal who was preparing to attack
“Excuse me”
he raced over to defeat the exisal.
As you watched Hajime defeat the exisal, you looked over to Kaziuchi and Chiaki who then looked over to you. Cue several seconds of awkward eye contact.
“Nice work! Keep at it!”
Chiaki tried to cheer but her monotone voice made it seem lacking.
“Is Hope boy here for real?”
“WHAT ARE YOU TALKIN ABOUT! Of course he’s real!”
He gestured to the ongoing brawl
“And by the way sweet cheeks, I’m real too.~”
Kaziuchi’s lousy excuse for a flirt was gifted with a shove that sent him stumbling from you and a face palm from Chiaki.
Soon the exisal was defeated as Kaziuchi rushed over to use it’s spare parts for some mechanical things.
Hajime calmly walked over to Chiaki and Kaziuchi while you stepped off the stone to get the water out of your clothes.
“So... how was that guys?”
“Hajime you can get away with mistakes like that in smaller things but this is the big leagues”
She patted his shoulder though to express her pride in doing well while making those mistakes.
“Well at least I beat it”
He fixed his tie that was slightly torn thanks to the earlier brawl.
“Next time. DON’T. LET. YOUR. GUARD. DOWN. BECAUSE OF A BIG PAIR. OF GO-GO EYES”
Kaziuchi shook Hajime’s shoulders with every word
Hajime then looked over to you who looked like a ethereal goddess as the sun hit your body just right to create something similar to a golden outline.
As Kaziuchi continued to rant about something..Hajime didn’t really pay attention as his body went over to you before his mind could even think.
“Are you...alright miss..?”
“(Name)”
you gently swatted your hand in his face.
"But my friends call me (Nickname) at least they would if I had any friends.”
Hajime’s surprise lasted at least a couple seconds before you continued
“Soo do they give you a name along with that hopeful charm?”
Hajime stuttered
“Uh-Um... I- I- I-uhh …”
he looked away in embarrassment. Nice going dude, Hajime thought to himself.
“Are you always this articulate?”
You asked, your finger pointed at him as you dried a sock.
“Hajime!”
He coughed awkwardly
“My name is Hajime Hinata” “Hajime huh? Well I think I prefer Hope Boy”  “ So... How’d you get mixed up with the uh-”
He leaned against a tree before he slipped and caught himself from slipping and falling.
“The robotic pinhead? You know despair-inducing creatures are. They think ‘no’ means ‘yes’ and ‘get lost’ means ‘take me I’m yours’”
You barely leaned against Hajime, eyelashes fluttering in fake innocence.
“Don’t worry you’ll find out soon.”
You walked away before turning to face him.
“Well see ya later Haji. It’s been a great time.”
You strutted away
“WAIT! Um... We can escort you there... Yeah! Let us escort you there” “No it’s fine really. My destination isn’t far from here. Just an couple minutes away.”
“I’ll be fine! I’m a big tough girl. Can tie my shoes and everything.”
“Oh...bye...”
“See ya later,hope boy”
You waved off to him
He waved back as if he was in a love-struck daze.
“She’s...something. Isn’t she Kaziuchi?”\
“Yeah yeah. She’s really something. A REAL PAIN IN MY BUTT”
“EARTH TO HAJIME”
Kaziuchi squished Hajime’s nose like a clown
“Come on Hajime we need to get into Towa City before you fall in love”
Chiaki snickered teasingly
He shook his head, flustered
“Y-Yeah! Let’s go!”
Hajime’s blush didn’t his face for a very long time

Idk if you agree but I’ve noticed how so many people’s enjoyment of Tsurumi hinges on how hypothetically gay he is (I only observe twt fandom). Like even after 267 basically confirmed that both the stuff with his wife AND the bigger picture/everything he’s presented beforehand both matter to him people are ignoring that and complaining that his whole motive is just ‘het manpain’. I feel like if his wife was male they’d feel differently (I hc him as bi but it doesn’t matter to me that much).
yeah that’s western fujos for you who forget that what they’re consuming isn’t written by someone collecting woke points and who legit throw tantrums each time they’re reminded that their headcanons will never get canon validation. i wasn’t around to see it in person but someone told me that back in like... 2018 or whenever the hasegawa chapters were publishing they threw a massive fit when their fujo fantasies got chucked into the trash. i witnessed them calling his poor wife a demon and theorize that he actually didn’t love her at all and got married because of😂😂😂homophobia internalized or blatant and because he couldn't officially marry a man😂😂😂😂. or that the kid was actually not his and he married fina so she could hide her whoring but he didn’t actually like her at all pinky promis 😂😂😂 or that he cared about usami much more than his dead wife. god i’m cracking up. and yes of course if somehow he was living with some ivan and the kid was a gentle orphan they’d be waxing poetic about how his motivation being so personal has a high moral ground or whatever. he’s not the only one either lol *every* single time noda talks about ts*kishima but i mean every time he brings up poor fridged chiyo one way or another and how important she was to him but fujos be like ✅Read at 4:20 am anyway he's a small gay bean and he's definitely going to wife up koito!!! (❀˘꒳˘)♡(˘꒳˘❀) fujo of the head brain disease.
not that there is anything wrong with the way they enjoy things!! these people are just not my cup of tea and i prefer to avoid them rather than get involved in arguments. fandom culture just got kind of insane in the last few years because back in my day we enjoyed our sexuality headcanons and ships while being fully aware that in the actual product everyone is straight by default and respecting the author’s choices aka not screaming q-word baiting when it turned out that Indeed. Heterosexual. saved us a lot of disappointment too! now though they expect authors to comply with their insanity for some reason? and in western media they can go on twitter and bully authors when they mess up but what are they gonna do about manga huh. nothing. to each their own though, not that they’re hurting anyone with this. while i do reserve my right to disagree with them, i generally don’t care how other people enjoy characters, it has 0 impact on my enjoyment whatsoever. i don’t go on gk twitter though so i imagine that if you’re a truther seeing this day in and day out must be annoying.
as a footnote i read tsurumi as a heterosexual king and always have, even before the hasegawa reveal. never struck me as anything else. he is absolutely aware of how attractive and charismatic he is, and he’s absolutely weaponizing his charm and seducing men that’s for sure, but he has never expressed personal interest in any of his victims. he worked on them as long as they could be useful to him, exploited their talents, monopolized their loyalty, and discarded them when they’re no longer malleable. in all of his relationships he’s the one who is in control, the one who leads, the one who uses, the one who touches, the one who changes. he’s never shown vulnerability towards his subjects. which is why i think that he’s aware who is attracted to him and is not above teasing and flirting and baiting when it could get what he needs but would never let any of them get actually close to him. reverse lesbian femme fatale? part of his manipulations and why his brand of cruelty is so great.

“Aunt Sumireko, Renko says that you used to have dreams like mine.”
She wasn’t her aunt. She wasn’t even really Renko’s, either -- she’d forgotten the exact relationship, but it was one of those confusing ‘once-removed’ arrangements. A distant relative who happened to still live in Tokyo and visited semi-frequently.
And she hadn’t really wanted to ask, either; wouldn’t even have thought to, but Renko insisted. On top of that, she was visiting each night to see Renko, so she didn’t even have the excuse that she wouldn’t get a chance to speak to her.
But she also knew that she probably should talk to someone about it; being able to take things out of your dreams wasn’t exactly normal, after all. And Usami Sumireko knew a lot about the paranormal; in fact, the first thing she’d heard about Renko’s Aunt Sumireko was that she’d been lecturing Modern Occultism for twenty-five years.
But would she actually be able to help? Even after bringing it up, Merry was already beginning to regret it. How would she even follow up on it? ‘Yes, I’ve been taking things out of my dreams! I’ve even got a pile of random objects at home to prove it!’
“Renko told me, yes.” Sumireko seemed somewhat amused.
She didn’t look like an aunt. She barely looked her age; even pushing seventy, her hair was still dark, and her eyes were still sharp behind her glasses. She was active, too; Renko had told Merry that her aunt still wandered off to remote parts of Japan investigating odd rumours in person. Once when Renko was young, she’d disappeared for two months, and it turned out she’d been climbing mountains looking for hermits.
“She told you?” replied Merry. “How much… did she tell you…?”
Sumireko looked thoughtful for a moment, and then smiled. “Your dreams are real. You go to a real place when you dream. And she told me that you can bring things back, too.”
Somehow, confirming it felt worse than simply explaining it; after all, her explanation could have been played as a joke. She couldn’t play off something that Renko had already explained; instead, her only choice was to seem like she was going mad to someone who definitely knew better.
“Very similar to mine, in fact,” continued Sumireko, before Merry had a chance to make that dreaded confirmation. “Though I generally brought things in, rather than taking things out.”
--Huh?
“Huh?”
Sumireko smiled. “I used to have dreams like yours. I would go to sleep, and visit a place called Gensokyo, inhabited by youkai and gods and magicians. In fact, at certain times in my life I spent more time there than I did here.”
“Gen… sokyo…?”
“I think it’s the same place that you visit. Dearest Renko was kind of sloppy when it came to her explanations, but I recognised enough to think it’s probably the same. So you’re having the same kinds of dreams that I used to.”
“Why do you not have them anymore?”
Sumireko blinked in surprise, and then sighed. “At a certain point, I began to dream less and less over there. I had a choice to make, I think, that I didn’t even realise; which world I belonged to. Or perhaps it was something else -- the Sumireko here and the Sumireko there became such different people, we had no choice but to separate.” She laughed to herself, amused by a private joke. “I wouldn’t be surprised if it was something like that, after everything I went through. But… one day I simply stopped dreaming of Gensokyo.”
“Is that why you do all the occult exploration?”
“Hmm? No, I do that because it’s fun.” Sumireko grinned again. “And because I like to learn about the paranormal. Don’t be fooled, Merribelle. The occult doesn’t just exist in Gensokyo; the occult is all around us. Isn’t that what your club’s about, after all? Finding the occult in reality, not just in your dreams?”
Merry was silent for a moment.
“What is the Sealing Club to you, Merry?”
Merry had met Renko at University. She’d been the first person in a long time to believe Merry when she said that she was spiritually sensitive, that she could see the boundaries that held the world together; and Renko had enthusiastically suggested starting a club to use those powers to investigate mysteries using those abilities. It’s not that she didn’t also enjoy exploring, and making exciting discoveries, but--
“I suppose it started out as a way to hang out with Renko.”
“Maybe that’s why.”
“Huh?”
Sumireko’s expression was inscrutable. “When I went over there, it was roughly at the same time. I would fall asleep here, and wake up there. But it sounds like that isn’t the case for you. Instead, you’re appearing and disappearing at random, and not always within Gensokyo; a couple of the places that Renko mentioned don’t seem to fit with my memories of the place. Rather…” She looked thoughtful for a moment. “When I went over there, I essentially manifested as a second Sumireko. But I don’t think that’s the same case for you, because you’re not staying in any one place long enough to create a second Merribelle.”
Ah, so this was where Renko got it from.
Sumireko must have noticed the confusion on Merry’s face. “My point is to be careful,” she said, in a somewhat different tone -- harsher, but kinder. “It’s only because you have something here that you’re able to come back so easily. But when it happened to me, I almost lost control of my own dreams. I’d hate for that to happen to you.”
Losing control of her own dreams… that sounded like a nightmare. But at the same time…
“Do you… have any advice…?”
“You still want to keep dreaming, then?”
Merry nodded. “I can be careful. But… even if there’s stuff to explore here…”
“It’s just not the same,” agreed Sumireko. “Alright then, I’ve got one piece of advice for you, if you insist on continuing to go on these dream expeditions.”
“Just one?” asked Merry.
“Just one,” confirmed Sumireko, and grinned. “If you’re going to dream, just make sure you’re sleeping next to someone.”
Merry, her face now bright red, fled the room.
--Thus ended Usami Sumireko’s first discussion with Meribelle Hearn.

The Hinata Files - Chiaki
Written for @the-hinata-project
Day 3: Danganronpa 2 Hinata -or- Ocean/Trapped/Summer
Rating: G
Warnings: None I can think of???
Notes: Yeah, it’s focused on Nanami instead of Komaeda. He’s getting another day so she has to get this day. I had a lot of fun writing her though. I typically do. Nanami’s a lot more fun to write than she is to read for me, lol. This was probably the quickest fic written because I got so into it. Hopefully, that makes it good to read!

So, Hinata-kun definitely isn’t a bad person.
He can be a bit frantic and sensitive. He’s actually pretty fragile, I think. Probably because he’s not the most flexible. It’s a shame, but I guess that’s how some people are?
He’s still on edge around Usami-chan, and he’s still reserved in many conversations. It’s not that he’s a difficult person to talk to, because the other students seem pretty drawn to him. That’s nice to see, isn’t it? Hinata-kun getting along with everyone? If things had been like this sooner—none of this might have even happened.
But, it’s impossible to know that for sure. Maybe she would have found another way to ruin everything. Maybe not. Life isn’t something you can change with the restart of a previous save file. Even though this whole thing is kinda like that, isn’t it?
It’s strange, maybe. I wouldn’t know because I didn’t exactly exist before this point. And afterwards—I wonder if I’ll exist at all.
For now, I’m gonna do my best. I think. And that means gathering hope fragments with everyone—and making sure they all graduate with the strongest bonds.
Because everyone had been friends once before besides Hinata-kun, I do keep an eye on him a little. He reminds me of a very basic warrior character. One that needs a lot of levels and nurturing to stand its ground alongside everyone else. Admittedly, putting the time into such a character isn’t terribly effective.
And dealing with people in general is a bit intimidating, I think.
But, I’m like everyone else in that I think Hinata-kun is surprisingly easy to get along with. Surprisingly easy to bounce off of. I see how others smile around him. How Souda-kun wraps his arms around his shoulders with a toothy grin. How Saionji-san beckons him to follow her with a coy laugh. How Mioda-san latches onto him with bright laughter. How even Komaeda-kun is at ease around him, bumping shoulders and talking amicably about talent.
Talent.
Hinata-kun is fine without talent, I think. I almost say it to his face, but I decide against it. Because—Hinata-kun doesn’t even know he’s talentless. But he’s still fine. He’s still good.
“Ah, Nanami?” Hinata-kun turns to me, a wary smile on his face. “Hey, are you listening?”
I’m always listening, even when I’m playing a game. Even when focusing on my game, I nod firmly.
“Ah, right. Right. Never mind, then.”
I do pause the game, then and there.
“Is there something on your mind, Hinata-kun?”
“I was just, uh, thinking,” he mutters, and he’s not looking at me but at somewhere far away. Beyond the ocean past the pixelated realm of the simulation that he doesn’t yet know about. “When all of this ends—we’re going to just start going to class normally, huh? Although I still don’t remember my talent.”
“You’ll do fine, I think,” I say because it’s the most certain reply I can think of. Everything else, obviously, was beyond me. I did wonder how that would be for them. For Hinata-kun and everyone else. “Have more faith in yourself, Hinata-kun. You may be weak of spirit sometimes, but you’re still pretty capable. I think.”
Hinata-kun snorted, shaking his head.
“Thanks, that means a lot. I don’t know why you think that way about my spirit, though. Anyone else would be overwhelmed in this situation.” A pause. “Well, I’m the only one. So maybe, that’s wrong. Maybe I am weak.”
“No, you’re strong,” I amended. “I’m sure of that.”
“Thanks...” He doesn’t sound convinced. Waves lap at the surface and I frown.
“You’re more than you think,” I say, slowly and deliberately. “You’re smarter than you know. The world is open to you and you could grasp onto anything you put your heart to.”
“That’s...” Hinata-kun flustered, scratching idly at his scalp. I remember, then, that his avatar is lacking certain head scars. I don’t remark, I merely remain quiet. “That’s actually really straightforward encouragement, Nanami. Thanks.”
At the very least, he sounds more sincere than before, so I smile at him.
“You have friends,” I remind him. “They’ll help you through everything.”
“Or drag me everywhere,” Hinata-kun mutters but it’s with a good-natured sense of humor and fondness. “It hasn’t been long but—everyone gets along like we’ve all been together for a while.”
“Everyone’s friendly, I think,” I say. “That’s a good thing, isn’t it?”
“Yeah. It is. A lot of the others can be handfuls but there’s that, at least. Although they’re not always the nicest bunch...” Hinata-kun sighs. “Still, I guess I like them all pretty alright.”
“I like everyone, too. They’re good people.”
“You’re just nice, Nanami.”
“That’s—I don’t know about that.” I don’t know much of anything. Niceness. Friendliness. Openness. Affection. Bonds. I exist to observe them and to act as one of them, but at the end of the day, I will be left behind by them. And that should satisfy me. Usami-chan is looking forward to it every single day. I am, too. I’m pretty sure. “Hinata-kun’s nice.”
“I definitely don’t know about that.”
“You’re definitely nice,” I insist. “To me, to everyone. You’re a good person. A good friend. Everyone is sure to be happy that they know you.”
“Now you’re just flattering me,” Hinata-kun mumbled, cheeks an impossible shade of red. So red that it stills me for the moment.
I have no memory of a Hinata-kun before this. No memory of the person immediately before this. The Hinata-kun under a vibrant blue sky is a miracle in how he exists, considering that before. Despite all that, that void before my existence, I’m sure of my words. And of his goodness. Of everyone’s goodness. The same goodness that those who defeated her wanted to save. Were right to save. In spite of everything.
That same goodness that was to be further nurtured and blossomed upon this island, so that it may overwrite the previous system of vacant despair.
“I mean it. I really do.”
“Nanami, I—thanks.”
“Don’t thank me. Just keep doing your best. Keep moving forward. Graduate—and keep going. No matter what.”
“Nanami?”
“No matter what.”

World Trigger Ch184 ‘Yuba Squad’ & Ch185 ‘Ninomiya Squad 2′ Translation
First of all, so much thanks for everyone who sent nice comments to my inbox! It reminds me that there are still people reading my posts and gives me a reason to keep posting here.
Also thanks to the anon who reminded me that Reddit World Trigger actually does have posts that aren't about OCs sometimes lol Reddit isn't my kind of place, but I had a peek and was forcefully reminded how I really disagree with how the localisation translates sometimes...at least it's good motivation to keep posting my translations (so extra thanks to those who likes reading more than one translation of the series). So don't worry guys, not enjoying translating is never the problem XD It's more about time especially since my casual gaming is somehow taking up so much time recently...I was actually doing pretty well this time, I finished translating about 3/4 of it about two weeks after it came out, but then a new event started on two of the games I was playing and I just barely finished yesterday...
In conclusion, this one's for all of you telling me that you're waiting for my translations <3

Tumblr media
Panel 1
Ouji: Hmmm, well Ouji: If we look at the previous match, it’s true that’s what happened, but…
Panel 2
Ouji: Tamakoma earned 6 points due to the fact that ‘survival points were included’
Ouji: What they earned from defeating enemies were ‘4 points’
Panel 3
Ouji: And this time Ouji: Huston’s abilities are now well known
Ouji: So it doesn’t seem like it’ll be as easy to earn points as before Ouji: If we think of it that way
Panel 4
Ouji: I believe they might actually only barely get it
Panel 5
Konami: Then all they need to do is get the survival points again this time!
Ouji: Can they?
Tumblr media
Panel 1
Ouji: This season, Ninomiya-san
Ouji: Is the person with the highest survival rate next to Azuma-san, you know?
Panel 2
Konami: …!
Sakurako: That’s true…!
Panel 3
Sakurako: The only times Captain Ninomiya was taken down was
Sakurako: When he took Captain Ikoma’s Senkuu from the other side of a wall in Round 2 and Sakurako: When Captain Kageura took them both out with his ambush in Round 6, just twice!
Panel 4
Sakurako: If they don’t take that Captain Ninomiya out Sakurako: They can’t get survival points…!
Konami: Hmm…
Panel 5
Konami: So that’s why Osamu
Konami: Was making countermeasures for Ninomiya-san so much
Tumblr media
Panel 1
Ouji: Huh
Ouji: Ossam was?
Panel 2
Sakurako: ! Sakurako: Yuba squad has decided on the map just now!
Panel 3
Sakurako: The map they chose is ‘Urban Area B’!
Kurauchi: Yuba squad will always pick this map when they have the right to choose Kurauchi: So it’s just as expected
Panel 4
Sakurako: Talking about Yuba squad…
Panel 5
Sakurako: Captain Ouji and Agent Kurauchi are
First Generation Yuba Squad
Fujimaru Nono                                 Yuba Takuma Kanda Tadaomi                 Kurauchi Kazuki                Ouji Kazuaki
Sakurako: Connected to them having been ‘initial Yuba squad members’
Tumblr media
Panel 1
Sakurako: From your viewpoint Sakurako: What is your impression of Yuba squad as they face the final match?
Panel 2
Kurauchi: As expected, they seem to be having it hard without Kanda
Ouji: Because Kandata was an extremely thorough man
Panel 3
Ouji: If Yuba squad drops from the upper tier here
Ouji: Kandata is likely to feel responsible Ouji: So Yuba-san probably wants to do all he can to remain in the upper tier
Panel 4
Konami: Ahhh, it’s true Yuba-chan seems like he’d care about that kind of thing
Panel 5
Sakurako: I see…! Sakurako: Whether Yuba squad can remain in the upper tier or not
Sakurako: Is also one of the points to focus on in this match!
Tumblr media
Panel 1
Sakurako: …now
00:13:24 Until Start
Sakurako: Only a little left until the start of the fated match!
Panel 3
Osamu: …alright
Osamu: One last review
Tamakoma 2nd Operation Room
Panel 4
Osamu: In the opening phase, everyone head to where Chika is
Osamu: This is the priority this time too
Tumblr media
Panel 1
Osamu: If Chika and Hus can join up
Osamu: Progress to a firepower battle like we practiced
Panel 2
Osamu: I will spread the wire formation for insurance
Panel 3
Osamu: This time it’s different from the previous match Osamu: Chika has ‘normal bullets’
Osamu: So even if it becomes a game of hide-and-seek Osamu: We can make the opponents move with Meteora or Hound
Panel 4
Osamu: The ideal is to tighten our defences
Osamu: And lie in wait in the wire formation
Tumblr media
Panel 1
Yuuma: So a powered up version of the tactics used on Katori squad and Kakizaki squad
Chika: Yeah, got it
Panel 2
Osamu: Next
Osamu: What’s important is ascertaining the positions of each team’s ace
Panel 3
Osamu: If Chika and Hus get together
Osamu: I don’t think they’ll lose in a shootout against any opponent, but…
Panel 4
Osamu: Ikoma-san’s ‘Long Senkuu’
Osamu: Has the power to take Hus out along with his Shield
Panel 5
Osamu: Listen to Usami-sempai’s instructions Osamu: And don’t let Chika enter Senkuu’s range
Hus: Right
Usami: Leave it to me~!
Tumblr media
Panel 1
Osamu: And Ninomiya-san Osamu: Might use composite bullets if Inukai-sempai or Tsuji-sempai are near
*knead knead knead*
Osamu: Be careful not to have your defence torn down by Gimlet
Panel 2
Osamu: Enemies that approach by using buildings to block bullets Osamu: Are to be defeated by Chika’s Meteora or Osamu: Kuga’s Wire Manoeuvres
Yuuma: OK
Panel 3
Osamu: If it seems difficult for Chika and Hus to meet up
Osamu: Transition to the backup plan with Kuga and Hus as the focal points
Panel 4
Osamu: If it seems like we can earn points somewhere else Osamu: We don’t need to fixate on forcing a battle of firepower
Panel 5
Osamu: I leave the timing of using your ‘secret weapon’ Viper Osamu: Up to you, Hus
Hus: I know
Tumblr media
Panel 1
Osamu: …alright
Osamu: 4 more points
Panel 2
Osamu: It’s the final match Osamu: Let’s get them!
Yuuma & Chika & Usami: Roger!
Panel 3
Yuba: The most hopeless development
Yuba: Is the one where Amatori bombs all over the place and we can’t do nothing about it
Panel 4
Yuba: Since just talking about firepower
Yuba: She’s an even harder opponent than Ninomiya-san
Yuba Squad Operation Room
Tumblr media
Panel 1
Tonooka: But, it still Tonooka: Ain’t decided that she can shoot, yeah?
Tonooka: She didn’t shoot anyone until recently, right?
Panel 2
Tonooka: Can you start shooting so quickly?
Yuba Squad Sniper Tonooka Kazuto (16)
Panel 3
Fujimaru: Didn’t she turn Okudera into dust in the last match
Fujimaru: Deal a hit and you’ll gain some guts, that’s how it works
Yuba Squad Operator Fujimaru Nono
Panel 4
Yuba: Either way, Tonookaa
Yuba: This time, you just aim for Amatori
Panel 5
Tonooka: Man-mark?

Yuba: Whatever you do, don’t leave Amatori free
Panel 2
Tonooka: Roger!
Panel 3
Yuba: Obishimaa
Obishima: Yeah!
Yuba: What do you do if you face Kuga in this match?
Panel 4
Obishima: During the last bout Obishima: He noticed I wasn’t fighting proactively and used a powerful move Obishima: So this time I’ll push him and not stay on the defence!
Panel 5
Yuba: …does that work
Yuba: On the Kuga in your head?
Tumblr media
Panel 1
Obishima: !
Panel 2
Obishima: …no
Obishima: If it’s Kuga-sempai…
Panel 3
Obishima: Having made an impression with the move from last time
Obishima: I think in the actual match he will have prepared a different move!
Panel 4
*smirk*
Yuba: So you do get it
Panel 5
Fujimaru: Get motivated, guys!
Fujimaru: If we fall out of the upper tier here, that Kanda’s gonna be like…
Tumblr media
Panel 1
Fujimaru: Yuba squad really is hopeless without me
Panel 2
Fujimaru: …comment like that with a shit-eating look!
Tonooka: If it’s Kanda-san, he would be considerate and say something like that
Panel 3
Yuba: I’ve booked the eatery already
Yuba: For us it’s for remaining in the upper tier Yuba: For Kanda it’s for his university acceptance
Panel 4
Yuba: WE’RE BOTH GONNA SUCCEED AND EAT GOOD, HEY!
Obishima & Tonooka: Yeah!

Ikoma: And it didn’t seem like it was gonna end soon
Panel 4
Ikoma: So Ah got in the stage from the middle Ikoma: And watched their fight super close

1. Regarding the commentators being two from Ouji squad, I wonder if it's a hint that they've never reached A-rank? So far all commentators have been A-rank or used to be A-rank (or Osamu), so I wonder if Ouji and Kurauchi were chosen to come together because they don't fit that criteria...or it's all just a coincidence...
2. It's a bit of a pity that we didn't get to see the exhibition hall map before this season ends, but I suppose functionally it wouldn't have been that different from Urban Area D except that there would have been even less places to hide if Chika unleashes her might.
3. So it didn't take long before we got the 3 stages of Yuba squad (that we know of): Captain Yuba and Operator Fujimaru with Ouji, Kurauchi, Kanda. Then Ouji and Kurauchi leaves and the team becomes Captain Yuba and Operator Fujimaru with Kanda, Tonooka, Obishima. And now finally Kanda has left leaving Captain Yuba and Operator Fujimaru with Tonooka and Obishima. I guess we don't know if there were any other member changes between Ouji and Kurauchi leaving and Tonooka and Obishima joining so this might not be all of it.
4. I can't remember how I used to write Ikoma squad's Kansai dialect...sorry...
5. More nicknames from Ouji: Tono-kun is a play on that being a homophone for the title 'lord' (the Japanese equivalent, that is). But mostly he just picks what sounds silly but still derivative of the original name.
6. Yes, the 'smoke signal' is a pun since it's literally smoking. But also it means beacon as well.

Day 1 @takaritsuweek
High School- First Date
Just what the hell was he doing, walking down the street with his underclassman practically skipping down the sidewalk slightly ahead of him. Excitement radiated off the boy after they’d left the PandaWay and started off toward the bookstore. He didn’t get it, not at all. Why was Oda so happy over all of this? He’d already told the boy that he’d seen him by chance, looking like an idiot and terrified out of his mind standing outside the sandwich shop with that stupid blush on his cheeks that annoyed him to no end. They’d even talked about the new magazine that was coming out and the kid should have known that Saga was on his way to get it too, wasn’t he supposed to be his stalker, he was doing a poor job of it if he didn’t know his routine. Why the hell did he look so happy and surprised at him following at a languid pace with his hand stuffed in his pocket and his book bag slung carelessly over his shoulder and held in place by his other hand.
And he wouldn’t shut up! Sempai this and Sempai that, showing far too much enthusiasm in comparison to his own bored facade. Zoning out his incessant chatter, he turned his attention to a passing girl that was giggling softly over the excitable Ritsu in front of him and then blushed fiercely at the scowl that was earned from the upperclassman behind the puppy like boy.  Masamune had to wonder at the flare of feeling that had erupted in his chest when he’d seen the girl checking out his kouhai, what should he care? Again, none of this made sense to the boy that had no experience with having someone paying so much attention to him. The silly guy would blabber on, completely missing that a cute girl had been checking him out, skipping ahead a few feet and then he’d look over his shoulder at him with a smile and actually wait for him before he’d bound off down the road again. He just didn’t get Oda at all, but when the boy tripped and stumbled along before catching himself instead of doing the faceplant the elder thought for sure he was about the witness, he couldn’t help but have a soft smile curved his lips as the other looked back at him with a bashful blush and a self depreciating giggle. What a clutz, he should be paying more attention to where he was going instead of checking up on him all the time, well stalkers do what a stalker does.
“I hope they haven’t sold out!” Ritsu worried in that innocent tone when he looked back at Saga-Sempai, worrying his lower lip between his teeth and willing his racing heart to calm down before it bounded out of his throat.
Masamune lifted and dropped a single shoulder in a shrug, as if the whole thing didn’t matter to him when in truth he was concerned about it as well. His cool facade never slipping save for the smile he didn’t even realise the other had coaxed from him. “Well I’m not gonna run down the street like an idiot.” he spoke in his disillusioned monotone. That only brought a brighter blush to the younger boy’s cheeks as he hunched his shoulders and slowed down for him again, casting him a side eye as his kouhai mumbled lowly for only his ears.
“I’m probably embarrassing you, sorry Sempai.”
And then his face lit up nearly blinding him with that stupid smile of his that made his insides twist all funny. Nearly cringing from the angelic aura that seemed to surround the boy. Just what planet dropped this weird boy off on Earth!?
“I’m just soooo excited for Usami-Sensei’s latest installment! It’s so amazing that he’s our age and has so much talent!” he added in an afterthought because of what his beloved Sempai had said, “even if his stories are weird!” but oh so interesting to him!
Didn’t this kid have an off switch? Damn, his glow was overpowering, making the elder squint and then avert his gaze or lose his vision indefinitely. Trying to ignore the giddity feeling that was infecting him due to the younger boy’s antics. Nodding his head toward the front window display of the bookstore, “Looks like there’s no need to worry.” and then the kid squealed, actually girly squealed and raced ahead and into the store where some of the magazines they wanted were on display out front.
By the time he came cruising in at his on sedate pace, the boy was already racing back to him with two magazines in his hands and bouncing on the balls of his feet, holding out one of the copies towards him excitedly.
“There were only two left, the rest are display! Lucky huh Sempai?!” his voice in a hushed ‘We’re in a sacred place now’ tone. Green eyes gleaming like jewels towards the mysterious amber of his ‘boyfriend’ He still couldn’t quite believe it and thought for sure that he’d wake up from this fantastic dream any second. No matter how badly he wanted to stay in this fantasy realm where his sempai spent time with him and actually talked to him. Even though it was in a bored fashion it was more than the youth could have ever hoped for and filled his tender heart near to bursting.
The guy was seriously gonna faint if he didn’t calm down, watching him wander back up to the shelves of books for sale, looking for any new releases, Masamune sauntered up to join him. Gleaning over the titles, he found another magazine that had the second installment of an author that he liked, “Tch, I missed the first installment of this one.” he picked up the magazine anyway and started to sift through the others, wondering if maybe an older copy was tucked behind.
Ritsu made a soft excited gasp and whispered fervently, “Oh, that one is sooo good! I’m sure I still have the first installment at home.” his face lit up as he came up with a brilliant idea, “If you can’t find it Sempai, I’ll let you borrow my copy.” though with his poor organizational skills it may take him a while to find it, but he didn’t mention that to Saga-Sempai.
Another bored shrug was given, he didn’t take the guy seriously of course, but he still wanted to read what of the story that he could. Even if he didn’t read the first part he should be able to piece it all together as long as he kept up on the rest of them. “Alright, I’m done.” glancing at the boy in passing as he was looking through a rack of bookmarks.
“I’m coming!” he called softly to the other’s receding back as Ritsu picked a pale blue bookmark decorated with a sakura branch in full bloom with a quote from one of his favorite passages from Sumi-sensei’s best-selling novel. Scurrying after the upperclassman and asking in a low tone, “I’m gonna go to the park across the street to read before going home, w..would you like to read this next part together Sempai?” he looked at Saga with all the hope in his young heart clear in his sparkling jade eyes.
Masamune paid for his magazines and looked back at his kouhai with an arched brow. While he didn’t want to go home just yet, it was boring with just the cat there and he definitely didn’t want to run into his parents again and listen to them screaming at one another while trying to read, “Sure, why not…” he replied in that same monotone. Of course, the boy blinded him with the most breathtaking smile yet that made Masamune wonder seriously if he’d just made a huge mistake for his own eyesight, the kid really needed calm down or he’d never be able to keep up...not that he wanted to or anything, of course.
They left the bookstore and crossed the street to the nearly empty park, finding a bit of nature hidden away within the city. Swirls of sakura petals flew on the wind and ruffled both heads of hair as they looked around for a place to sit. Ritsu pointed shyly to a bench under a sakura tree that sat near a gurgling fountain that displayed a pair of swans in an artful display.  Neck arching gracefully as they passed one another, looking towards the other until their bills touched and formed a cliche heart. “I usually sit there sempai, is that fine with you?” Ritsu looked up to him with huge jewel toned eyes, sparkling in the afternoon light and gave the spring grass a run for its money.
Saga merely shrugged, taking off his jacket and draping it over his arm and walking ahead of Ritsu to look up at the blooming pink petals. Not taking notice of the young teen behind him, staring at him in awe. It was honestly the most breathtaking thing that Ritsu had ever seen. His beloved sempai, deep in contemplation against the backdrop of a sakura tree in full bloom. Stunned to silence as the breeze fluttered a legion of petals across Ritsu’s vision and picked up the tempo of his heart. His cheeks were burning so hot he was certain he’d burst into flames as his sempai turned to look at him and lift a corner of his mouth in a rare smile. Ritsu was sure he just died and went to Nirvana.
“Yeah, this works.” Masamune spoke in that subdued tone, turning to go and sit down because the younger teen looked like he was about to burst into tears for some reason and he wasn’t sure how to deal with that. Sitting on the bench and digging out his newest purchase he flipped it open and started to read. Enjoying the peace and quiet of the afternoon. Soon enough the quiet was broken as his kouhai asked a question.
“Um, sempai. They’re selling shaved ice over there. I’m going to get myself one, would you like to have one too?” he stuttered out nervously as it worried the edge of the paper bag that held his own magazine and bookmark. When Saga gave a soft nod of his head with a mutter of ‘lemon’ Ritsu took off to the cart to get his beloved a treat. He was on a date, this was a date. He was on a date with his sempai and he was floating around on cloud nine, “Two ices, one lemon and one melon please!” he clutched his package to his chest and beamed up at the vendor that couldn’t help but smile back at the adorable boy. Two large cups with over flowing shaved ice and flavoring with tiny wedges of the fruit it was flavored with added for garnish, Ritsu paid for it happily and scurried back to where his sempai was sitting in silence and enjoying the story. “Here you go Saga-sempai!” he held out the treat with a huge smile.
Lifting his tawny gaze from the story that he had already been fully engrossed in, he regarded the smiling guy and the lemon ice he held out to him in offering, “thanks.” He took the treat then returned his attention back down to the story. Hearing the soft creak of the bench as Oda sat down on the other side of the seat, sure to keep lots of space between them. Ritsu didn’t start reading right away, he was busy enjoying his shaved ice. He tucked his feet up on the bench and stared off towards the fountain. He loved this spot, so quiet and it filled him with a sense of peace. Or well it normally would were it not for the fact that his Sempai was sitting next to him and it was just so much, too much for his heart to handle. He cast a secretive side glance at Saga-sempai. He had his magazine laying in his lap and was enjoying his own ice. Ritsu couldn’t help the small shy smile that curved his lips as he flicked his gaze back over to the fountain.
Saga noticed the fidgety boy peeking at him but did his best to pretend he didn’t notice. It wasn’t hard to do since he was more than used to the guy sulking in the background and staring at him endlessly. Just what was he doing out here, spending time with a stalker of all things? Never mind that he was having more fun than he thought he would and was enjoying the cool spring afternoon and the soft gurgle of the fountain. The flutter of sakura petals made it almost seem magical and with that last thought he almost scoffed at himself. Just what the hell was the guy thinking, they were boy guys and surely he realized that nothing would come from this. But, why was he feeling this odd sense of companionship? The normally lonely feeling that suffused his being, missing in the presence of the younger male. He was brought out of his thoughts from a sudden question from the guy sitting next to him.
“Do you want to take turns reading the story Sempai?” his cheeks flushed red as he set his cup of melon flavored ice to the side, “I’ll go first!..” flashing Saga a large smile that made the green of his eyes dance. Saga just shrugged his shoulders noncommittally and Ritsu took that as a yes.
His kouhai started to read the latest installment of the short story by Usami Akihiko. He staggered and stumbled over the first few lines because of his nerves, but to Masamune’s shock, the boy seemed to snap into the tale and read in a soft soothing voice that lulled him as he continued to eat the treat that was given to him. He was able to close his eyes, picturing the scenes in his mindseye and appreciate the soft voice of his kouhai much to his surprise.
It wasn’t uncommon for Ritsu to get caught up in a book, this one seemed to have drawn him into the pages and unfurled into a story that told of loneliness and pain that he could sympathize with. He didn’t even realize that he had a slow tear tracking it’s way down his cheek as he got to a particularly emotional passage. Every now and then he would take a spoonful of his shaved ice to quench his dry throat and then continue on with the tale, forgetting that they were supposed to be taking turns since he’d become so absorbed.
Masamune stared in surprise at his kouhai, his voice was clear and concise, hell the words were pouring off of his lips like a poem and making the prose of sensei that much more impactful.  The passion in his young voice as he wove the talk of Usami to life  wrapped itself about him and made him feel all sorts of weird things. How was it that the stuttering mess of a boy could turn around and be so...so, hell he wasn’t sure what else to call it but enthralling. Ritsu didn’t even seem to notice that hours went by as he continued all the way to the end of the installment. Watching him swipe a hand under his eye to take away the proof of just how much the story had moved him and turned his big emerald eyes to him.
“Sorry, I got a little carried away.” he spoke shyly and blushed furiously under his sempai’s inspection. He hoped he didn’t mess the story up!
“I didn’t mind,” Saga returned in a soft voice and wondered at the strange thrum of his heart that kicked into gear when his kouhai had looked his way. Suddenly, he noticed the younger stiffening and looking around as if remembering where they were.
“Oh...oh no!” Noticing the orange glow of the setting sun that signalled that he’d been out much longer than he should have been. He shot up to his feet and started to pack his bag quickly and tossed the empty cup into the trash. “My mother is going to kill me!” he whined and seemed to be shaking as he flung his bag over his arm, “I had a wonderful time sempai, even if it was all just a coincidence it made me incredibly happy!”
Masamune watched as he kouhai turned on his heel and went tearing off in the direction of the subway, canting his head in confusion. Did he really live on the outskirts of the region of Tokyo where all the rich people lived? Well, he shouldn’t be surprised, he knew by the way the guy had acted and his naivety that he came from a well off family. But what was bothering him now, more than anything else, as he pushed himself to his feet and cleaned up the area of his own debris, was how much fun he’d had today with the spastic underclassman. Really, if anything it annoyed him that it left him feeling strangely light with a weird feeling fluttering about in his stomach and chest. Oda was really starting to piss him off for reasons that he just couldn’t understand and yet, somehow he wondered if they would be able to spend time together again soon. It was much better than sitting around bored at home or listening to his parents scream endlessly at one another. Ugh, he should just go home and stop thinking about the confusing feelings his kouhai was stirring within him. His mask of indifference fit over his features and hid the truth from view, even from himself. He didn’t even know he was slowly falling in love with that Oda, Ritsu.

Title: Under Moon and Starlight
Author: @aisukofi
For: @sonneka
Ratings/Warnings: T, references to komaeda’s backstory and his general self-depricating tendencies
Prompt: “Island Mode, KomaHina in a romantic (or pretty close to romantic) way”
Author’s Notes: this turned out a lot more dialogue heavy than expected, but i still hope you can enjoy it!
His world, he supposes, has always been small. But at the same time, it’s always been too big. Too many things he could do at the drop of a hat, too many things he had complete control over. And yet, at the same time, he couldn’t do anything, his life itself completely in the hands of someone, something he’d never know.
This contradictory world of his was one he traversed alone. The world swallowed up and shredded everything around him. The second something got close it was swept away, the moment someone made contact they were torn apart, limb from limb. The solution was to simply live without any relationships of any sort and without any possessions, but doesn’t that go against human desire? Was it not human nature to seek out others, to gather objects in order to make oneself comfortable? If he rejects human desire, human nature, can he truly consider himself human? If not, then what was he?
It strikes him inexplicably that his world doesn’t matter here. Perhaps it never mattered in the first place. Perhaps nothing ever mattered, and human nature made him believe things did. Wasn’t it natural to hold some things dear to you, to hold them close to his heart and make them matter? If that was the case, then he supposes he truly is human.
The pale moon - a constant, unwavering thing, near haunting in it’s unyielding presence in every hour - blinks at him from deep blue sky. Stars, too, twinkle and shimmer from the same abyss, bright and blinding unlike the ones he’d see in Tokyo. The closest he’d seen to these were in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, where the lights and the sounds and the very ground he stood on were different yet the sky was the same, simply less clouded by the glare of modern technology. Here, on Jabberwock Island, it was the same. No light pollution or smog obscured the sky, the only thing coming close being a stray puff of white cloud every now and then.
The wind whispers harsh nothings as it brushes his skin and send shivers down his body. Distantly he hears as the waves of the beach pick up in time, begin crashing down upon the white sand in quicker succession and with more force. The filtered pool water lapping at his ankles makes him ever colder, surface near mirroresque and clear turquoise that looks silver in the moonlight. He can feel the way the skin on his feet has wrinkled up, old and unneeded evolutionary traits kicking into high gear as he submerges his feet for what feels like a long time. It dawns on him that time, too, doesn’t really matter.
He doesn’t know how long he’s been out here. He remembers, vaguely, hearing Usami’s nighttime announcement - ten o’clock exact, never a single second early or late - and preparing himself for the night, wishing each of his fellow students a “Goodnight” and “Have sweet dreams.” He remembers laying in his blush queen sized bed, staring at the wall in abstract boredom for hours as sleep refused to take him (as it often did, ever since he was a child). Remembers getting himself out of the blankets and dressing and leaving his cottage hotel room before finding himself by the pool. It’s there he lays, sprawled out on hard wood and concrete, legs dipped up to the ankle into the chlorine cleaned water. He thinks he’s been here for a while, laying unmoving and thinking about everything and nothing at once.
Wind dies down. Ocean waves calm and go back to gentle rocking, lapping against the beach in gentle beats that match the tempo of his own heart: ba-dum, ba-dum, thump, thump. The sound fills and drowns his ears - or maybe it’s the sound of his own blood bumping? He doesn’t know, nor does he explicitly care in that moment. The stars twinkle. The moon stares. He tries counting the stars for a fleeting moment before giving up after counting two hundred thirty-seven.
The constant anxiety he feels is nonexistent here. The constant desire to be prepared for anything and everything, the desire to be everywhere and nowhere at once has evaporated into the very air. It feels just a bit unnerving to be relaxed after it all, but his limbs are too heavy and his body is too comfortable for him to care or do anything about it.
The wind picks up again, bringing with it the scent of tropical flowers and fruits none of which he can name. It tousles and stirs up his hair, pale white strands tickling the skin of his face and neck. The waves rise once more, his heart keeping up with it’s rhythm: ba-dum ba-dum ba-dum ba-dum, thump thump thump.
“What are you doing?”
The sounds cuts through the sound of the waves and steals the very breath from his lungs. Tan and hazel and brunette fill his vision, a pale olive green tie dangles limply above his nose. A face full of characteristic tired annoyance, with hints of fondness seeping into the corners of his mouth and in his eyes. Hinata leans over him, covering the moon and taking its place as the midnight sun, white button-up brighter than ever, the pin on the breast pocket glinting in the starlight. Nagito can’t help the small content smile that worms it’s way onto his face. He smiles up at Hinata, too breathless to even consider answering his question.
Hinata stares back, eyes flickering slightly as if searching for something he’ll never find. The two stare at each other for what’s undoubtedly decades before Hinata concedes and straightens up with the breath of a small sigh and the closing of his eyes. Nagito can feel his smile dropping slightly, expecting the other to leave him alone again. Nagito wouldn’t blame him for doing so, couldn’t blame him, as he’d do the same thing when faced with himself.
Hinata flops down beside him on the deck with a huff and takes Nagito by surprise.
He takes a moment to arrange himself. It’s somewhat endearing, Nagito thinks, how Hinata’s face twists with concentration as he leans himself to the side in order to fold his legs up under him until he’s cross-legged, how he wiggles in place in an effort to move his feet to a position where they won’t go numb. After he’s situated he rests an elbow on one of his thighs, propping up a hand and resting his head in it. Hinata stares at him once more, and Nagito finds himself feeling self-conscious. The smile on his face revives with more force regardless. Hinata quirks an eyebrow at him.
“Well? You gonna answer me or what?”
Nagito feels his smile falter once more, but if Hinata notices how often his expression has been shifting he doesn’t mention it. He decides to answer in the same way he always has when he’s asked an uncomfortable question, ever since the first time he was asked “What happened on your return flight from San Cristóbal?” He turns his head to it’s side, his mass of fluffy hair cushioning the weight, and spits the words as carelessly as he can.
“What are you doing?”
Hinata’s eye twitches slightly, his nose scrunches up for a fleeting moment, an emotion Nagito can’t name without thinking flicking across his face. As quick as it’s there its gone as Hinata schools his face back to his neutral, tired expression. “Making sure you’re not doing something weird.”
Nagito blinks - once, twice - before parotting, “‘Doing something weird?’”
Hinata nods. “Yeah, doing something weird. Y’know,” he makes a vague gesture with his free hand. Nagito just stares, because no, he doesn’t know. After a beat of silence that lasts two seconds too long to be anything but awkward, Hinata continues, “I thought you were gonna try to make something in that old kitchen again.”
“I don’t think I want to try cooking for a while,” Nagito says bitterly, face twisting up at the memory. Usami still refused to let him hold sharp objects, and Hanamura still watches him like a hawk whenever he gets near a stove.
Hinata laughs at his reaction, the sound sweet and airy as it reaches Nagito’s ears. Nagito feels himself smiling again. “But really,” Hinata starts, once the laughter in his throat grows quiet, “What are you doing out so late?” There’s concern edged into the brunette’s voice and it leaks likewise into his eyes.
“I couldn’t sleep,” Nagito answers honestly. There’s no point to lying about it. Not when Hinata could see through it anyway. Not when dark purple stains the pale skin underneath his eyes.
“There’s narcotics in the pharmacy,” Hinata points out, “Why not go and get something from there?” Nagito shrugs as his answer, a somewhat awkward motion when you’re laying with your arms spread wide.
“I’m sure they’d help more than just laying out here,” Hinata continues with a roll of his eyes. The other twists his face into a grimace.
“But they taste bad,” he says, drawing out the last word into a whine.
“Now you’re just being stubborn,” the brunette scolds as he reaches out to playfully slap at Nagito’s arm. “I’ll shove them down your throat.” Nagito can’t help the laugh that bubbles out of him at Hinata’s threat. “I will! I swear,” Hinata defends, slapping at Nagito’s arm again.
“Of course you will, Hinata-kun,” the white haired boy quips, lasting giggles still left on his tongue. “I’m shaking in my boots due to fear of your might!”
“You’re not even wearing shoes!”
Nagito wiggles his toes beneath the pool’s surface. His feet may have gone numb due to the cold water, but in that moment he’s the warmest he’s been all night. “Actually, I am,” he says, pulling his face into a serious expression. “They’re just invisible, Tanaka-san put a curse on them.”
Hinata’s face blanks and he stares at the other as though he’s seriously considering the possibility. It twitches after a moment before turning exasperated. “Haha,” he laughs dryly. “So you’re a comedian now, huh?” Nagito sticks his tongue out at him playfully, earning him a true laugh from the brunette.
His own laugh rises and joins Hinata’s in a soft crescendo. The noise mixes together in the cool night air as a song that fills his heart and swallows him whole. The moon bathes them in blue-silver light, the stars shine spotlights down upon them, and Nagito wishes the night would never end.
Their song dies in time, but it isn’t until Hinata’s wiping tears out of his eyes that silence envelopes them. Nagito watches him from the corner of his eye. Watches as Hinata’s breath returns to him, as he stretches his arms out in front of him until his fingertips brush the surface of the pool’s water. He pulls them back after a moment, rests his elbows on his knees and lets his hands hang in the triangle formed by his crossed legs. Hinata gazes at the sky now, eyes flickering in every direction as he looks from one star to the next.
The only word Nagito can think of to describe the sight is “beautiful.”
Hinata is beautiful. The soft shape of his face, slightly sharp at the edges where lingering baby fat are just trimming off, is beautiful. His eyes, serene as they gaze above, hazel and positively glowing in the moonshine, is beautiful. His hair, short and soft and the shade of freshly made milk chocolate - it’s beautiful. Every inch of him is beautiful, Nagito thinks, from the tips of his toes to that onry piece of hair that refused to settle with the rest.
Oh, he must have been staring, because Hinata looks at him with that embarrassed look of his, a light blush rising and dusting his face. When Nagito flashes him a bright smile, the blush grows darker and he turns his eyes away awkwardly, pulling on his shirt collar like he’s burning up. How cute. It takes a moment for Nagito to realize that Hinata’s speaking.
“Why are you looking at me like that,” he mumbles, looking everywhere except at the white haired boy.
“You’re beautiful,” Nagito answers without thinking. Isn’t it important to let people know what you think of them?
Hinata’s reaction seems to say otherwise. He freezes, his entire body tensing and going rigid, his face flushing. He looks mortified, as if Nagito had just told that bombs all over the island were going to explode by sunrise.
Of course he said something he shouldn’t have. Of course he fucked up again. Because that’s all he does and that’s all he’ll ever do.
Nagito pushes himself up on his elbows, apologies already on the tip of his tongue, because he needs to rectify the situation, needs everything to be alright. “I apologize if I made you uncomfort-“
“You can’t just say something like that so suddenly,” Hinata cuts him off with a yell, far too loud for the situation, embarrassment sitting high on his cheeks. Was the flush from before not from fear then? “Besides,” he continues, voice dropping into a low mumble that Nagito would surely have missed if he wasn’t paying such close attention, his eyes scrunching closed like he can’t stand to look Nagito in the eyes, “You’re the beautiful one here.”
Nagito can feel the heat rising to his face, can feel the way his pale skin grows pink at the sudden compliment. When was the last time someone said such a thing to him? Had anyone ever? Hinata probably doesn’t mean it anyway. He’s just saying it to deflect the attention off of him. Surely. “Ah…” he trails off, let’s his nervous laughter enter the air, “Hinata-kun is really too kind.”
“Please don’t start with that shit,” Hinata groans with frustration evident in his voice, the embarrassment that was just there slowly leaving him, “I’m not saying it to just be nice. I really… think that.” He rushes his sentence at the end, still avoiding Nagito’s eyes. Which is a good thing, Nagito thinks, because he can’t see the tears forming in his own eyes this way.
It’s overwhelming, really. It’s truly overwhelming to be on this side of a compliment. To be complimented by Hinata Hajime- it’s almost too much. He’s undeserving of it, unworthy to even be in his presence.
“Okay,” Hinata says, awkwardness and nerves apparent in his voice as he draws out the word, “You’re crying now, what did I do?” Nagito’s quick to swipe at his eyes with his jacket sleeves, because Hinata really shouldn’t have to deal with his own inability to take simple praise.
“Ahah… It’s just-” Nagito tries to give him a reassuring smile as he wipes once more at his cheek- “no one has ever complimented me before. It really took me off guard!” He raises the tone of his voice to one that’s lighter, tacks a bout of breathy laughter at the end. It’s a joke, really, everything to do with him is a joke.
Instead of putting Hinata’s concerns to rest, his words seem to only elevate them as a pitying look fills his eyes. “No one? Ever?” When Nagito nods, albeit a bit confusedly, Hinata’s face twists into a deep frown. He’s getting upset? At what? It’s only natural that someone like himself wouldn’t get praise of any kind. So why is Hinata upset?
“I’ll uh. I’ll say it whenever you want then,” he offers, obviously still too awkward to say the words with confidence.
“Say what?”
“I’ll- I’ll call you pretty. Or beautiful. Or whatever. Whenever you want.” He’s blushing again, and pulling at his shirt collar, eyes darting every direction except towards Nagito. Nagito can feel the blush on his face again, self-doubt invading his mind. Could he really accept such an offer? Could he really allow himself to be so selfish?
“You know what? I’m going to do it anyway,” Hinata’s voice interrupts his thoughts, stern and forcibly confident. “Because I know you’re just going to tell me no.”
“Hinata-kun doesn’t have to do anything that he doesn’t want to do,” Nagito says instead of a full-out protest, because a traitorous part of him yearns to hear the words leave the brunette’s mouth again.
“Yeah? Well, I’m going to do it. Because I want to,” Hinata objects, still refusing to look at the other - Nagito really wishes he would, he wants those eyes on him. “And I don’t care what you say,” he tacks onto the end like it somehow makes it look like he doesn’t care. He fails miserably.
“Hm…” Nagito hums, already able to feel the teasing words rising in his throat, “Mioda-chan was right. Hinata-kun really is a tsundere.”
“What!?” comes the brunette’s yell, his hand slapping against the pool deck. “I am not! You’re just-” he’s sputtering now, how cute - “just an asshole!” After a beat of silence, “A pretty asshole!”
The compliment makes him flush, though he laughs at the other’s words regardless. Hinata was fun to tease. Easy to tease, too, his reactions always over the top after he realizes what’s happening. It’s adorable, really.
Hinata pushes himself up from where he was sitting with a huff. “Whatever! I’m going back to bed!” he announces loudly as he turns back towards the rows of cottages nearby.
“‘Back to bed’? You were sleeping in your clothes?” Nagito hadn’t given it much thought earlier, but considering it was the middle of the night, it is odd for Hinata to be dressed in his regular outfit of button-up and tie and jeans.
“Maybe I like wearing this to bed!” the brunette counters before shoving an accusing finger in Nagito’s direction. “You’re also wearing your normal clothes, so you can’t say anything!”
“But I didn’t wear them to bed,” Nagito’s points out with a small tilt of his head. Are they arguing about this now? Was this something worth arguing over?
Hinata makes a small noise of frustration, his face still a bright crimson. “Still!” He turns again and this time actually starts stomping away. “You go to bed too! It’s too late at night for you to be awake and doing something crazy!” He calls from over his shoulder as he turns the corner towards his cottage. Nagito hums, neither a promise to do so nor a refusal, and pulls his feet from the water and places them on the pool’s edge. They’re cold, the air making them even more so, and he can barely feel them enough to be able to feel their movements when he wiggles his toes. He’ll probably have to wait a bit before he can walk.
Accepting that fact with an subconscious nod, Nagito turns his head up to the stars again. Without Hinata’s presence, they seem somewhat duller than before, as if the very idea of Hinata Hajime makes the world shine. The moon, too, seems distant and forlorn - a haunting figure watching from out of reach. Everything feels calm, quiet, a perfect image of serenity.
A perfect island vacation with the one you love.
“Oi!”
Nagito feels his neck pop as he snaps to attention. His eyes flick over to the back deck of Hinata’s cottage, where the brunette himself is leaning against the railings. The pink slip of paper in his hand flaps around as he waves it in the air.
“Hang out with me tomorrow!”
Nagito lets himself blink blankly before allowing his head to tilt to the side. “You want to hang out?” With someone like him? The hand holding the pink ticket falters at his words.
“Um, yeah,” Hinata says, his words unsure and hesitant, “I’d like to. If you want to.” He’s looking away again, like he’s embarrassed. A soft smile fills Nagito’s face at the sight.
“I’d love to go on a date with you, Hinata-kun.”
Hinata’s face erupts into a furious blush as his body tenses up. The ticket crinkles as his grip tightens against the smooth paper. “Don’t call it that!” he protests, his voice cracking halfway through the sentence.
“Huh? Is it not a date?” Nagito questions, wiggling his toes and growing satisfied as the feeling is returning to them. He takes a moment to look for his shoes before shoving his bare feet inside.
“You don’t have to call it that! We’re just hanging out!” He’s right, technically, but Nagito can’t figure out why it’s such a big deal. Isn’t it easier to just call it a date?
“So it is a date.” It’s meant to be a question, but it comes out more like a simple statement of fact.
Hinata seems to go through a lapse of internal conflict, emotions appearing and disappearing only to appear again and flicking across his face in rapid succession. After a moment of lapsing silence, he faces settled on a look of exasperation. “Fine. It’s a date. In the broadest definition of the word.”
A simple hum of response leaves Nagito’s lips as he makes his way past Hinata’s patio. Throwing up a hand in a half-wave and flashing a small smile, he calls out “I can’t wait for our date, Hinata-kun.” And just like that, he leaves and disappears into his own cottage.
He thinks, if his luck allows it, he’d enjoy letting Hinata into his world. In the end, only time will tell.
Perhaps, after all of this, Nagito will sleep well tonight.
