Turning 30 very soon and thinking about the future and transition and such and the tl;dr is avoid Brain Jail but mostly I am thinking about how dad (1951-2010)'s obituary says "He received a BA from Harvard in 1972, a master's from Yale and a JD from Cornell" as an opening salvo, is curt about his accomplishments and coy about his lack of relationships, and dad's brother, who was not given up for closed adoption at birth despite similarly difficult poverty/immigration circumstances and similar developmental disabilities that run very strongly in our family, lived from 1947-2019 and his obituary opens "Terry will be remembered as a happy person that everybody loved." My views on LEGAL family abolition are very strident and my views on the immediate post-WWII period and how the US exploited immigrants through the adoption system and how this was reduplicated in the 70s-90s in Korea, Vietnam, and VERY CRITICALLY, the uhhh Asian border regions of Russia in the 90s, and how I see it in almost everyone I grew up with make me so insane I don't know what to do
Like you cannot talk about family abolition without talking about international and critically TRANSRACIAL adoption without talking about Christian missionaries without talking about the criteria for diagnosing genetic disease without talking about CLOSED adoption without talking about the history of the birth certificate and the passport without talking about the eugenic history of the medical profession without talking about [I am Gong Show'd off the stage]

Okay, sooooo I tweaked the rules from my last poll, mainly due to the fact that Cute Animal Sidekicks diminish..... preeeeetty significantly in the 21st century. Oh, there's definitely cute animals, but also cute/funny robots, aliens, magical creatures, etc etc....
But I still did at least keep to these rules:
NO Animal-Only or Animal-Dominated Movies (that means NO Dinosaur, Chicken Little, Zootopia; also Wreck-It Ralph since they're video game characters)
If there are mostly animals, the protagonist MUST BE/BECOME HUMAN (ie, Brother Bear & Princess and the Frog)
Okay, yes, I made Bolt the exception because honestly, that film does not get enough love dbkjsdkfs

Hi Mel, sorry to bother you, do you mind if I ask a question about ocean idiots?
1) Did Heather kill mermaid babies?
2) what would happen if the mermaids disappeared, Heather would get hysterical.?
3) what is the approximate age of the characters of the ocean idiots?
I don't mind at all!
No, or at least, not generally? I'm sure she might've at some point or another but in order to get a mer kid, you have to actually find one and you're better off looking for an adult because frankly you're getting more out of them.
Oh she'd fucking PANIC. Would likely spend the rest of her days frantically searching for mer until she ran out of money, blood, and support, dying desperate and alone as the fate she'd tried so hard to avoid closed in on her. Fun times.
So since mer age slower, I'll just have the equivalent human age for them.
Mariza: ~26, she doesn't know her birthday exactly so it's anyone's guess.

You know that thing where I said “J.R.R. Tolkien used the word “escapism” to mean that fantasy is like a prisoner of war escaping from captivity in a dark and horrible place to get back home where you belong?”

What are the favorite animals of the Disney Princesses?
This is easy to decide – just look at their animal companions.
Snow White loves all forest animals, but I think she especially loves birds because they sing.
Cinderella particularly likes mice, since they're her best friends, though she likes birds and dogs too.
Aurora, much like Snow White, loves all forest animals, but especially birds for their songs.
Ariel loves colorful fish – her best friend Flounder is one, after all.
Belle I think is fond of horses, like her devoted Philippe.
Jasmine loves tigers, like her beautiful, faithful Rajah.
Pocahontas loves clever and mischievous raccoons, like Meeko.
Mulan loves horses and dogs, like her faithful Kahn and Little Brother. If dragons like Mushu count, then let's add dragons to the list too.
Tiana didn't used to like frogs, but has warmed up to them since she temporarily was one, and she also likes alligators like Louis and fireflies like Ray.
Rapunzel like chameleons, like Pascal.
Merida is another lover of horses, like Angus.
Anna and Elsa probably both love reindeer since Sven has become part of their found family.
Moana likes pigs and chickens, like Pua and Heihei.
Raya likes dragons, if they count as "animals," and whatever species Tuk Tuk is.

I suggest talking to someone outside you and your fandom to understand why people call you conspiracy theorists. Cause tell me why I, a bi trans person person, have been told I don’t understand queerness because I don’t see the supposed queer signaling H&L do a lot of the time. Tbc I’m not strictly an anti or a Larry, I’m willing to accept H&L are or have been in a relationship together, I just don’t necessarily buy into stuff like only communicating through blue greening or shirts. These are conspiracies by definition. It reminds me a lot of the Paul Is Dead beatles theory were people tried to find clues through song lyrics and album covers. Pop culture conspiracy theorism is incredibly common.
You're not a conspiracy theorist for speculating that a celebrity might not be straight. You're a conspiracy theorist for thinking that a corporation is forcing a man to pretend to be a father and every image and video of Louis and Freddie is photoshopped or a deepfake.

I think you need to work on your reading comprehension again, because we were talking about why fans in other fandoms are using the term "conspiracy theorist" within their fandom about people who believe the one they stan is queer. The anon were surprised about the widespread use of the term and though it was contained to this fandom. We're not talking about this fandom or larries. It's well established that us larries are conspiracy theorists and why. Nobody is refuting that Larry Stylinson and babygate are conspiracy theories. Babygate is named after Watergate and conspiracies often ends in -gate. We larries created it and own it.
I also think we need to differentiate between celebrities who are in glass closets, don't comment on their sexuality or show any straight behaviour or push any narrative in the press vs. celebrities who have stated multiple times they're straight, sign bearding contracts or enters fake relationship and their label/agency make deals with the media to push a certain narrative, that's not true, to make said celebrity look straight. That's a conspiracy right there. Fans are being mislead and gaslighted by the celebrity, the label/agency the celebrity is signing the bearding contracts, and make deals and bargains with the media. Three powerful entities come together to sell a narrative that's not true to cover up the truth. That's a conspiracy right there.
So if Shawn Me*des says he's straight multiple times, enters relationships with female and show he's straight by doing pda, and the media writes about how Shawn is getting engaged to a woman or has a profile on Raya to find a new gf, while some fans believe this is all fake and made up to hide his sexuality and real relationship, said fans can be called conspiracy theorists.
If a conspiracy is in danger of being revealed, the conspirators might double down or try to illegitimise the conspiracy theorist by gaslighting further or ridicule them.
The Kategate conspiracy theorists said that Kate photoshopped the pic she posted to ig, and lo and behold she admitted it was photoshopped. You don’t need to believe everything everyone else believes in order to see that someone is hiding something and conspiring to cover it up. You don’t need to believe that H and L speaks through their t-shirts in order to believe that larry is real. You also don't need to believe that F is photoshopped in order to believe that L is gay and in a relationship with H, and not a father. You'll never agree with everyone about everything. You only need to believe that H and L are in a relationship to be a larrie and thus a conspiracy theorist, and you only need to believe that Louis is not F's biological father to believe babygate is real, and thus be a conspiracy theorist.
Just like Nixon was willing to go far to sabotage and cover up his DNC break in to win an election, huge music coorporations are willing to go far to cover up their golden goose's sexuality and real relationship in order to keep their fans and making money. In general, people in power are willing to cover up a lot in order to gain advantage and continue to win and thrive.

I'd love for Disney to make these films into Broadway musicals.
Cinderella--Admittedly, the R&H musical definitely has a big leg-up for anything else entitled Cinderella (and could Disney even call it Cinderella here?), but I do think it's worth exploring, from the costumes to the characters. My ideal vision of it would be largely taking from the 2015 remake along with parts of the 1950 version and it's songs. It'd feel classic and modern at the same time!
Sleeping Beauty--I really enjoyed how the original film looks like art, and I'd love a Broadway adaptation to have that same feel--albeit with more songs (using the original ballet score) and fleshing out Aurora and Phillip's relationship (maybe allowing them to meet each other several times in the forrest before the "Once Upon a Dream" sequnce). For the finale scene, I'd love it if they gave Aurora a pink and blue dress similar to her dress in the "Designer Disney" and "Midnight Masquerade" doll lines (and maybe use Phillip's silver and black costume from the latter line). It'd be great to see more of Aurora before she goes to sleep--or perhaps the fairies' magic would allow her spirit to guide Phillip and the fairies to her.
Mulan--I always said this musical didn't have enough songs. If done expertly, it could be an epic action musical without feeling as though the darkness is lost in it. It'd be so fun to see such a diverse story and a unique sound on stage! I'd probably include Mulan having a brother like in the original story to kind of show her contrasts, being kind and gentle while also being a bit of a tomboy and athletic. I feel like I heard a version somewhere where she had a sister, and I love the idea of her having an older sister who she worries about living up to. Plus imagine her and Shang singing a duet reprise of "Reflection"!!!!
The Emperor's New Groove--This is mainly me voicing my wish that Disney revived their idea for "Kingdom of the Sun." Whether keeping it whimsical like the final product or more serious like the concept, I'm sure I'd be pleased to see how this Inca adventure unfolds.
Atlantis: The Lost Empire--You've gotta admit, a science-fantasy musical about Atlantis sounds like it could be legendary if done right.
The Princess & the Frog--This film does NOT get enough love. It'd be fun if Tiana, Naveen, Ray, and Louis had costumes similar to Simba and Nala in the Lion King, letting you know they're animals but still having gorgeous costumes. Plus diving into Naveen's background and contrasting how he and Tiana live live (as a royal of color and as an American woman of colo in the 1920s). It'd be fun if they nailed down where Naveen was from, especially since many fans see him as Indian-coded. Perhaps a fictional Indian state that was influenced by British colonialism, explaining his western interests?
Tangled--Another film that doesn't get enough love. I don't know what Disney had planned for their "darker version" by Glen Keane, but from the concept art, I'd love it if they leaned into that.
Big Hero 6--We need more superhero musicals, though I know the hazards and expenses that come with it. I love the Japanese-American influence in San Fransokyo, and it'd be fun if they leaned more into the fantastical concepts of the comic (Fred becoming an actual dragon and Wasabi's qi manipulation), but again, expenses.
Moana--I can't be the only one who imagines the colors and the gorgeous culture we'd get to be exposed to in this film. Moana had 7 brothers in the original concept, and that'd be nice to see her have siblings who would encourage her dreams while warning her of the dangers, similar to what her mother and grandmother do.
Raya and the Last Dragon--I was super sad this wasn't a muscial, and the reception was hit-or-miss with SEA audiences. Maybe change the Kumandra countries to represent ONE SEA country instead of a mix (I keep thinking Heart should represent Vietnam), as well as making Sisu look more accurate to the culture, and perhaps making Namari's redemption smoother, such as having her start to give Raya her gem piece when a search party looking for her accidentally shoots and kills Sisu, forcing them to flee, and Namari gives it officially to Raya at the end of the film (though I suppoee it's more emotional if Raya gives Namari the gem).
Encanto--I don't have to explain the appeal. I only hope we give more screentime to Luisa, Isabela, and Dolores. In my eyes, we need to see Luisa strong and confident for most of the film before breaking down when Casita is destroyed. It'd be cool is Isabela's perfection being a lie is a shock to the audience, making her confession powerful, as she shows no hesitancy beforehand. And maybe having Dolores looking sad at Mariano pining for Isabela, maybe trying to talk to him before Abuela interrupts.

Hello! I'm very delighted by your Ocean Idiots universe, and very much excited to see what comes next. Question: Could we get one fun fact about every member of Delta's crew?
Riker and Raya didn't have almost identical names when they were younger but when they transitioned they thought it'd be fucking hilarious. They were right.
Willow and Jackie have gotten married on just about every island and divorced on one of them. They will not specify which one they're not legally married on.
Louis does not know where Tuna came from. Don’t ask.
Ilia has a collection of romance novels that she keeps a very close eye on. She suspects one of the other members of the crew steals them when she’s not looking.
Sylvia has told a different version of how she lost her eye to anyone who’s asked and somehow none of them have lined up with each other.
Argo plays instruments really well. They like to strike up a tune and knows Delta can’t sing for shit. They like to hear her try anyways
