Just watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and it’s a pretty decent horror flick.

The cinematography the audio, the ambience and tone, the practical effects, the visuals, all of that holds up really well, which is impressive for a movie that is almost 50 years old. It feels super bizarre and surreal at times, and if you know me, you know I love that stuff. I got chills multiple times throughout the movie, and I was genuinely shocked at times.

It isn’t a perfect horror movie, though. There’s a couple of sanist/ableist horror tropes that, while still unfortunately commonplace in horror, were especially prevelant back then.

Overall, it’s a good movie. Not the absolute scariest thing I’ve ever seen but still pretty dang scary, and it’s definitely not for the faint of heart.

Anyone remember that Spongebob short about climate change where Spongebob and Mr. Krabs try to make a profit by pumping carbon dioxide into the atmosphere so that it’s always summer and therefore they can always make money from the pool Mr. Krabs built behind the Krusty Krab but everyone leaves Bikini Bottom in order to move up north bc it’s cooler up there so in the end Spongebob and Mr. Krabs just end up ruining everything?

I usually hate the whole “animated character somehow gets into our world (and also it’s live action)” movie thing but the Sonic movie is the only good example of it I’ve seen because there’s actually a reason for Sonic to be in our world. He doesn’t want to be tracked down for his super-speed ability anymore and what better way to go into hiding than to go to a completely different world? I like that this movie actually tried to do something different with a tired and tested trope, it gets points for that.

I’m surpised that I’ve only seen a couple of people bring up the double meaning of Doki Doki Literature Club’s title.

Y’see, dokidoki is a Japanese onomatopoeia for a fast heartbeat. In the sense of a dating sim, which DDLC appears to be, the “Doki Doki” in the title can have a cliche, lovey-dovey meaning, that being your heart racing when you see the girl of your dreams.

However, as we all know, the game isn’t what it looks like on the surface, and that it’s actually a horror game. You know what else causes someone’s heart to race? Fear.

It reflects the game’s subversive nature, you assume “Doki Doki” is just a cliche name for a dating sim, when it’s actually hinting at the panic you’re inevitably gonna feel when all hell breaks loose.

Idk, I just thought that was a brilliant little detail. Goes to show even further how much effort Team Salvato put into this game.

Welp.

There was a leak in our basement and a lotta things got ruined. Some of those things included most of my Warriors books and Fullmetal Alchemist books.

I know I can always replace them (and that’s exactly what I’m gonna do) but I’m still pretty bummed about it. I’ve had some of those Warriors books since I was ten and collected them until I was 13, and I’ve had the FMA ones since I was 12, so I’ve had them for quite a while, and they’ve created some great memories.

I’m not like. completely destroyed about it bc again, I can just replace them, but I’m still pretty bummed out about it.
