is it a controversial topic to say that making the reader's appearance overly detailed, giving them a title and a overly detailed backstory (mary sue backstory often), focusing more on their pov which reveals their personality heavily that some readers would NOT relate too, not making it poc friendly, saying it's gn but using personal pronouns and characters calling them gender specific nicknames (princess/ baby girl...etc), is it controversial to say you didn't write an x reader fanfic but an x OC and you're tricking us to read it?? lmfao i think people have the right to be mad ESPECIALLY if it's not gn or poc friendly when you claimed it was... like i love writers and i appreciate the works ALL of you are putting yall are awesome for giving us this fanfics but PLEASE BFR
if your (y/n) is someone the reader can't relate to it's not x reader. simple as that. idk why ppl are scared of saying this.
PS; i deleted a stupid reply that got mad at x black!reader for being exclusively for black people when black/poc friendly fanfics are already a minority when the harmful majority is very european centered (white people specifically) and even very anti black in some cases. don't twist my post to be fucking racist/sexist/homophobic/fatphobic or ableist because that's not what i'm talking about at all ffs. to the poc and other minority creators who are writing for their people and for unconventional, non-white beauty standards i love you, you're amazing and a straight up war veteran in some of these fandom, geez. (this is for context if anyone looks at the replies. and to tell yall to be decent human being cuz some of you are bold ASF.)
PS 2; i didn't want to address this but, some people pointed out that writing ambiguos x reader is impossible and hard. that's not the case at all, look at the most popular fanfics in a fandom x reader. they ARE ambiguous and general stuff! such as jealousy headcanons, general dating headcanons, prompts, general kinks or the like.... why? because you didn't give the reader too many details or made them mfing black widow or madoka kaname, who'll be relating to that???? you might say "oh i'm writing for myself" or "this is my self-insert don't like it don't read" cool, we all have self-inserts. stop tagging it as x reader however. that's it. tags exist for a reason, and you not using it properly is your problem not the readers who have been misled.
Ps 3 PLEASE READ: ❗❗❗
I read what other people opposing this post said and I absolutely get how difficult it is to write for ambiguous readers. I'm deeply sorry for making it seem as though I'm berating writers when I don't share my work here on tumblr. My post was NOT meant to insult creative writing OR to say that putting the slightest bit of detail on your headcanons, fanfics, scenarios etc is a terrible thing because I assure you it's NOT. But please for the love of god tag your work correctly. THAT'S IT. And give warnings and heads ups about what your writing contains. If it has fem!reader only tag it as fem!reader, if there's mention of physical characteristics specific to one race others or group may not relate to PLEASE give a warning. I know the content here on tumblr is free and I like many here are SUPER grateful for it.
I don't appreciate entitled readers and ik how frustrating it is to get backlash from something that you do for free and it brings you immense joy, but please remember your work is also public and by that it WILL be subjected to criticism and feedback however it may be. And of course I'd never support harrassment or rudeness on any party giving or receiving feedbacks.
Remember that tags and warnings exist for a reason and you're free to write WHATEVER as long as you publicize it keeping in mind the target audience you're reaching. Of course people will not be happy if you state your work is something that ultimately isn't. But imo if you give a prior information then no one should harrass or demand of you anything. This post was made to address the lack of honestly with certain content, the non-poc friendly fanfics and MY PERSONAL OPINIONS. You're free to agree and you're free to disagree.
I read the replies and tags and I understand both sides of the argument, but I also needed to clarify what this post is NOT about. Of course any harrassment or rude comments will be ignored. You're free to have your opinions and preferences and free to say them as long as it isn't problematic.
I also removed the x reader because I understand how it would be hypocritical of me but I truly needed to get people's opinions on a wider scale. Again I apologize if I offended everyone and if I came off as rude or entitled i promise you that's not the case, And you can't even say I think the fanfics should be centered around me since most with the unconventional beauty standards and personality within them do not match me in any way and that's okay 💁‍♀️

While we’re in Latino Heritage Month, let’s stop assuming your reader doesn’t know/speak Spanish in your reader insert fics. Especially if you’re writing for Pedro’s, Oscar’s or other Latino characters please.
EDIT: After some criticism of how this was originally phrased, let me change it into a question/request instead- Can we as writers please try to be more inclusive with our reader insert fics so poc and others can feel represented and see themselves too? Including taking out a quick throwaway line about reader not understanding Spanish. (Keeping the original phrasing above so anyone who missed the post to begin with can still see how I originally phrased it)
If you have a throwaway line of “he said in Spanish that you didn’t understand” or something similar, just take it out. Have something like “you didn’t hear” instead and let the reader interpret how they want. Or use italics to indicate Spanish. Or have the translation right there without mention of anyone translating for them. Simple. Or if you don’t want to/feel you cannot change it, then please have something in with your warnings so Latinos/poc can skip it if they choose.
And let me tell you why this is so frustrating (even for me as someone who is not a fluent speaker). It’s because Latinos look to these characters and actors for representation. We see ourselves in them. And when you clearly do not have a Latino person in mind when writing, you’re saying we don’t belong here. In a space where we should feel welcomed and celebrated. Representation matters. Inclusivity matters. Please try to be more inclusive with reader fics so we can all enjoy and immerse ourselves in your writing.
ALSO EDITING TO ADD MORE FROM A REBLOG SO EVERYONE CAN SEE MY CLARIFICATION: (under a cut for length)
This is nothing new, poc have been asking for years now to be inclusive in fics and yet it’s still a battle. We’re not asking for a lot, and certainly not asking anyone to change their style or creativity or anything like that. Literally simple edits: take out the word “blush” don’t mention hair, don’t mention not understanding Spanish, not making reader blood related to a white character, etc. Literally tiny things that would not change the story at all but make a world of difference.
Here’s an example too: a few years ago it was not common for writers to label the gender of their reader as it was usually assumed the reader would be a woman. But, people advocated to label readers as f/m/gn/whatever to be more inclusive and asked writers to strive for gender neutral readers when possible so that more readers felt seen and welcome. Now it’s a common thing to do. Why is making the readers race ambiguous any different?
Yes sometimes posts like this come across harsh, but know that they’re not meant to be. Poc aren’t trying to demand anything, we just ask to broaden your langauge when writing reader insert so more can see themselves in your work. It’s incredibly frustrating to ask for inclusivity and be met with hostility and rudeness in return and a refusal to think about poc so yes sometimes the wording gets harsh out of that frustration. But I encourage y’all to focus on the message more and maybe think about why poc in fandom get snippy like this. We do need to have an open conversation, yes. Just look in the comments at the Latinos and poc who are upset by the exclusion and feel hurt by it. How you you white fans feel if roles were reversed and none of the fics included you? Not fun, right?
And to those who say write it yourself: I do. I’ve been a x reader writer for years now and I do strive for inclusivity in my work. But I’m only one person and this is bigger than any one person. This isn’t about what I personally find acceptable or what I personally what. It should be a collective effort among writers as a whole to strive to include as many as possible in their works and not white code your readers. It’s not about demanding writers write it a certain way, it’s about asking writers to consider others who don’t look like them who also want the immersion and the escape that your fic brings.

ABOUT ME
Please call me Fae, it's Nickname for my actual name. I'm a minor. I just choose not to say my age on here. I love Music and often listen to many different Genres. I've always loved writing, but I've never really published anything in any fandom. don't judge my writing; I'm getting better I promise. I feel like I have a very active imagination. but most of the series fanfics that I write will probably not be planned out that much. I haven't been a fan for too long, I'd say, like early-mid 2023.
My page is made to be looked at in dark mode for.
music taste: LanaDelRey, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, Chase Atlantic, Drake, Doja Cat, Billie Eilish, Melanie Martinez... (I usually just listen to whatever I think sounds good, not because a certain artist made it.)
favorite song: it changes all the time (depending on the month, season, my mood, trends, etc.)
fav youtubers: the triplets obv, larry, Ben of the week, Shanspear...
fav food: mashed potatoes 🛐, Schnitzel 😍, ice cream, chicken, cherrys..
My ALT is @sturnioloh03
WRITING
allthough i feel like my english is pretty good, it is not my first languge. I'm actually German (well, tukisch really..) so, if there is something weird about the way I explain something inherently American, that’s why 🤷‍♀️
what I will be writing: fluff, angst, smut. I'll write almost anything (for Chris/Matt), I don't mind. go wild with requests I don't judge. the reader will mostly be poc!friendly, but not outright POC. I'll write for Nick, but only platonic.
what I won't be writing: I might not write some requests. because I feel uncomfortable writing about something I don't know about/have experienced. For example: black!Reader, Latina!Reader, etc. (Heavy emphasis on race, because if yall have a specific fic in mind where the race has something to do with the story, go ask a writer who is black or Latina to write it, they’ll probably have better depiction than I could ever have.) unless it’s German/turkish reader.
also: R4pe, incest, threesomes, wired kinks (piss, shit, feet, etc)
My requests and Asks are open. feel free to send suggestions or questions. I'm fairly new on Tumblr, so I'm def looking for mutuals. Don't be scared to text me, i love meeting new people 🤭
RULES
Don't steal fics
if you don't like the concept of a fic, just scroll
Don't leave hate.
Criticism and feedback are always welcome in my inbox, just don't be rude about it.

I really enjoy Yellowjackets but the way it throws its poc characters to the side, the way the fandom does is so unsurprising but saddening at the same time. Shauna is one of my favorite characters, she's cool and stuff but, being honest, the trope of housewife having an affair because she's bored of her current life has been played before. So what if this one had certain elements outside of it, it's still common so it kind of grew tiring to see Yellowjackets constantly shove this plot at me when Tai's storyline is right there.
Taissa, a biracial woman who, even after living through something horrific as a kid, "bounced back" and lived the life she always wanted. She was a lawyer, now ran for and won a position in office, married a beautiful and smart woman and had a son, has a whole perfect family who she loves. Only for the trauma, the aspect of her life she promised herself and others to never talk about, is now coming back and in the process causes her to do things she doesn't want to do. The plot that could have come from Taissa alone is out of this world. You mean to tell me that a biracial lesbain running for office wouldn't be more entertaining than Shauna's storyline? Why couldn't Tai be the main focus?
And I don't even want to get into the fandom, but I have too. Listen, I like TaiVan for all that they are. They helped each other survive during a time where they thought it would be impossible. But what annoys me and, sadly, almost pushed me away from this ship, was how the writers and fans treat Simone and Sammy. Like the shows only way to have Tai together with Van was to put her wife in a coma and abandoned her son? That really does not sound like Tai, who fought to get her old life. And very insidious how some fans make certain jokes that just reek of "Let's push away the black characters to make room for the yte ones", because I've seen people call Simone the villain, to other things, just because she told Tai to get help all while framing Van as the better option. I've seen people in the fan call Sammy unnatural or even a demon just because he exists in a way that is not natural, by that I mean acting out and expressing coping mannerisms because he saw a version of his mother who terrified him but can't express, but I forgot because he's a little black boy who needs help people will ignore him or dehumanize him, because that's how this works right? The shows main, and only dark-skinned black characters were quickly pushed aside by the plot for what?
And I have a feeling the show may make us watch Taissa go through great lengths to keep Van alive (even though I do want Van to live), but won't extend the same want to Simone, which will read badly with the undertones in so many ways.
And the fandom treats Tai poorly as well (don't even get me started on some pretending to care about her family just to hang it over her head and call her a deadbeat) and reaching some nearly very ableist thinking when talking about her. Taissa deserved so much better, from the show and the fandom, and I hope they do better in season three but I'm not so sure to be honest, because most of the scenes even having mentions of Tai's blackness were because of Jasmine, not the showrunners, who it would be fine if it were small things here and there but to add so many crucial parts to your character because others won't begins to become a pattern.

"why am i even bothering to write and post anything at all?"
"ngl that makes me not want to post anymore lmfao"
Because you have people reading???? Like tf? I'm not trying to be rude, but while you are lamenting over racist people not reading your work (as are other writers that I follow) don't forget about the people who do engage, read, comment, send ask, gently requesting updates to stories because writers get pissed off if updates are demanded, and champion your writing. Some of us actively searched for black writers and stories.
I understand wanting a lot of engagements, I do, but I'm starting to feel shafted as a reader who is doing all the things these writers ask for and yet read these posts in which the writers threatened to quit writing fics because there's only 100 notes. Have you looked through the notes? Do you not see familiar usernames over and over again? So it's not many of us, and that is truly unfortunate, but the group is loyal. Stray words and so many others have already left.
Just like you're feeling unappreciated as a writer, I'm feeling unappreciated as a reader because yall (poc writers) essentially tell me there is nothing more that I can do to make you feel wanted enough to stay.
I'm sorry you feel like this, but the reality is that we're black. Whether in real life or digital, this is how the world treats us. We will have to work harder for less. It shouldn't be like this, but life aint been fair to us for centuries now. I do what you ask, so I ask that you focus on the small group of us that follow your writing through.
…i’m sorry that people sending me racist asks effects me? i’m human, too? i’m a person too? like i’m not made of stone, people being cruel to me does hurt me, it does leave lasting effects on my mental health? i didn’t threaten to quit writing, i talked about how that ask, combined with my ever decreasing engagement made me feel.
of course i look through my notes. conversely, do you see me responding to comments? asks? i’ve posted several times now about trying to commit to a more regular update schedule, about finishing my outstanding work. have you not seen any of that? i’m not leaving, but am i not allowed to speak on my experience? i’ve been back a week, and i’m already getting racist anons.
chastising me for being human and feeling a way when people are cruel to me is not how you get consistent updates, nor is it how you encourage me to stick it out. just because that’s the reality doesn’t make it right, and it doesn’t make it easier as a black content creator. i’m trying to be here, to update consistently, to be the change i want to see, but it is fucking hard, it is painful, and i’m sorry that you don’t like hearing that. feel free to follow my library blog to avoid it, i only reblog updates and new work there.
we have a saying in Jamaica: “pressure bust pipe”. i’m sorry black authors have been dropping like flies, but we are people. how much are we supposed to take without saying anything? i really don’t know what else to say other than that i’m trying.
sorry.

Hey quick question princess andromeda from the myth with Persus is from Ethiopia ? But then how come in paintings she is white ?
Quick question, long answer. Yes and no. It’s a little confusing. There are several parameters to this.
Aethiopia, an etymologically Greek name, is the name different Greeks gave to different places of the world. In the classical era (440 BCE), Herodotus called all the area south of the Sahara and the Nile as Aethiopia, making thus the most relevant description. Pindar however, a contemporary of his (~450 BCE), calls Aethiopia the region around Elam (Southwest Iran). Same as Hesiod, who did that in 700 BCE already. In ~500 BCE, both Scylax of Caryanda and Hecataeus of Miletus seem to agree Aethiopia is east of the Nile and expands throughout the Arabian peninsula all the way to the Indus Valley and the Indian Ocean. The first mention of Aethiopians is by Homer (~800 BC) who vaguely says that they lived in the extremities of the world, in the far east and west.
So as you see, the earlier back in time, the more generic and distant the term’s meaning is. Herodotus is likely the one who seals the association of Aethiopia with only sub-Saharan Africa and the country south of Egypt in particular.
The origins of Greek mythology precede all these writers. In general many historians suggest that the Aethiopia of the myth of Perseus and Andromeda was supposed to be in west Asia and perhaps somewhere around Israel and Palestine. Some believe it is Jaffa, Tel Aviv in particular. I am not totally sold on the explanations why. The point is however that Aethiopia’s geographical definition especially before Herodotus and even more before Hesiod was very vague and fluid. It seems it described places that in general were too hard for Greeks to reach, exotic.
The name itself can help us understand. Aethiopian means the one who looks burnt, smoked. From αίθω (aétho - burn) and όψη (ópsi - look, face). Now, this sounds low-key horrible in English but in Greek it’s not derogatory, but I have no better way to explain it. Ancient Greeks had written quite a few times about the attractiveness of the Aethiopians (whoever they were) so they didn’t associate the term with a repulsiveness like that of burnt flesh but just as the effect of the sun on their complexion.
In short, at least prior to Herodotus, Aethiopia was all the land inhabited by POC, even if that included large parts of Africa and Asia all the way to India. It did not include Libya (North Africa) and Egypt. This was not so much due to skintone (although it could be too - as North Africans can be way more white passing than people far from here believe) but because Greeks were well aware of these regions. Aethiopia was associated with exotic, distant places with darker people. This could be black people and brown people and all their various tones. Perhaps simply anyone who was noticeably darker than a Greek.
Now if we compare Jaffa (Andromeda’s Aethiopia) with modern day Israel or Palestine, then Andromeda and her parents could be medium brown or light brown or white / white passing.
However, I seriously doubt Ancient Greek art was concerned about skintone accuracy, simply because it was art made by Greeks and viewed by other Greeks. Everyone depicted usually followed the Greek standards of beauty. Besides, it’s a Greek myth, right? If we wonder about Andromeda’s complexion, then we should also wonder about her name! And her mother’s name! Why are they Greek? Well, simply, because it’s Greek mythology, which provides a genealogy where all progenitors are kin to Greek progenitors. Cepheus, Andromeda’s father, is brother of Danaus and has Argive ancestry (since this is a myth from Argos!). So if that’s true, Andromeda has Greek ancestry and might be white-passing because of that. But these is just exhaustive and in my opinion unnecessary nitpicking.
In Ancient Greek art complexion is almost always not depicted accurately but men are usually depicted as dark and women as fair because this was the beauty standard.
Tumblr media
No this doesn’t mean Perseus was black and Andromeda white! It only shows the beauty standards of the time. Corinthian vase. Archaic period.
Tumblr media
Andromeda, Perseus and Cepheus. Apulian vase, Classical Period. All look white or white passing.
Tumblr media
Here although the skintone is the same, the artist makes Perseus blonde in order to stress Andromeda’s darkness through the haircolour. Zeugma, Roman period.
And… look at that!
Tumblr media
In this ‘mildly’ racist art, Andromeda is depicted as a dude as the tall white-passing person in the middle and she is getting tied for the beast by fellow Aethiopians who however look nothing like her. They are shorter and clearly African. Andromeda wears Phrygian, thus non-African clothing, but also nothing like the Greek clothing. This artist wanted to provide some diversity but apparently not for the beautiful princess lol Attic vase, probably Classical period.
Anyway so, Andromeda was either brown or black or white passing at most, because of Jaffa and the argive ancestry. Once Aethiopia - Ethiopia’s location had become more specific though, western artists depicting Andromeda as pretty fair of skin or blonde is misrepresentation with questionable motives. My opinion is that there is a wide range of looks Andromeda can be depicted to have, but not something that makes her look whiter or even just as white as Perseus.

Of course this is said from someone who has never seen the show. God forbid folks favorite character, is THE SECOND MAIN CHARACTER AND IN THE TITLE OF THE SHOW.
God forbid abuse survivors find Adrichat’s story relatable and react negatively to people who salt on him for, checks notes, being a rich white boy? Because being rich and white protects you from abuse lol okay
Someone go tell Kesha that the horrific abuse she endured for years doesn’t count because she’s rich and white.
Someone go tell Britney Spears and Amanda Bynes that they deserve their conservatorships because they’re too volitile and emotional and need someone else to control their entire lives. Also they’re rich and white so they should be thankful for their privilege.
Also as a fandom veteran, I’m also baffled that this anon says they’ve never seen fandom go this feral over a white boy so I guess the whole Superwholock thing doesn’t exist in this person’s universe. I’m getting war flashbacks…
I really hope this doesn't come off as rude, but I just have a small request for any anons in the future: if y'all want me to comment on someone else's post, please send it in a separate ask. I just don't want to post someone else's post and start an argument or something.
That being said, I do agree. My detailed thoughts under the cut.
"Adrien stans are white people who get unhinged over a white boy," say the Marinette stans and Marinette stan observers, not realizing that they espouse disgusting abuse apologism on a daily basis and victim blame a character who is a victim of abuse for being traumatized all because he made a few decisions that weren't about Marinette and her well-being alone.
This is ridiculous on so many levels. First the assumption that all Adrien stans are white people. Second, the assumption that we must be Adrien stans because he's a white boy and we don't care about POC characters as much as we do the white ones. Which is actually quite insulting to me.
Maybe these people should actually read what Adrien stans have to say. Maybe they should actually understand why we love Adrien so much. Maybe they should understand why we get so heated over him.
Know what? I'll tell you why. It's because Adrien is despite the writers' best efforts to undermine him an interesting and likeable character. He is a canonical abuse victim, and he struggles with his self-worth and his identity, which is a relatable story to many people. He's an entertaining and interesting character. He's the deuteragonist of the damn show. People are bound to love him. There's more to him than being a white boy and it's very insulting to imply that people obsess over him because he's white or because his fans are white.
And about how Adrien stans get "unhinged" about Adrien and not about other characters... we're literally Adrien stans. Which means Adrien is our favorite character. Naturally, we're going to talk more about him. This is basic common sense. I don't understand the problem here with liking Adrien more than other characters. Are we not allowed to have faves anymore?
And you know why Adrien stans get "unhinged" over him? Because the show treats him badly! Why shouldn't we get mad that a character whom we love is being treated poorly by the writers? Why can't we get heated about that? Marinette stans get heated about their fave being victimized by the narrative all the time, so why is it a crime if Adrien stans get upset if Adrien gets the same treatment? Adrien's story in the show ended with him being reduced to an object and a prop for his girlfriend so that she could side with his abuser and start controlling him instead. Why can't we get angry at that?
Marinette stans will talk about how both Adrien and Marinette are written badly but only Marinette gets criticized and how that's racist and shit, and will ignore the fact that our criticism has nothing to do with race and everything to do with Marinette siding with Gabriel to lie to an abuse victim, and how the show frames this as correct. We criticize Marinette because she's making an awful mistake and doing bad things! This is like, the worst strawman I have ever seen. At some point, it really feels like they are being willfully ignorant.
And about how Adrien stans treat other characters, riddle me this. Who has a proper tag dedicated to bashing them on AO3? Who was the character who was salted on so much when Syren aired? Who was the character being raked over the coals when Chameleon aired? Who was the character who was salted on in Season 4 for breaking a damn fucking chimney? Who was the character whose struggles in Season 4 were overlooked by Marinette stans who criticized him for "being entitled to Ladybug?" Who was the character who was relentlessly salted on whenever he did anything that didn't completely attend to Marinette's needs? Who is the character who was labelled a "sexual harasser?" Who is the character on whom these "fans" rain down their victim blaming and abuse apologia? Who is the character who has the longest history of being salted and bashed by the Marinette stans?
And I will laugh at the audacity of Marinette stans to argue in favor of POC characters and blame Adrien stans for "obsessing over a white boy while not giving the same treatment to characters of color" while their legacy includes salting Alya for not being Marinette's perfect emotional support BFF. Who has their own salt tag apart from Adrien on AO3? Alya does. It's laughable to me that Marinette stans harp on about how Adrien stans prefer the white boy over the POC characters when they spent the better part of the last few years bashing Alya and even devolved into outright racism against her. To say nothing of how they treated Kagami after Frozer dropped.
And these people accuse Adrien stans of showing preferential treatment to white characters? Marinette stans have no leg to stand on when it comes to calling out other people's treatment of POC characters. And I'm not saying that the anon or OP of the post are racist or that they personally contributed to this. But if they are going to make sweeping statements about Adrien stans accusing all of us of going unhinged over a white boy and treating POC characters unfairly, they should maybe take a look inwards at their own community.
Marinette stans have spent years bashing every other character for the smallest perceived slight. Marinette stans created a whole new genre of Miraculous fanfiction dedicated to propping up Marinette like their personal goddess and punishing other characters for not being her devoted slaves. Marinette stans have contributed greatly to the racism in this fandom. Look at all this and tell me: who really seems unhinged here?
So yeah. Ice cold take imo. Also, obligatory disclaimer: Not all Marinette stans are like this! Most of them are nice and sweet, but there are also plenty of bad apples who have been responsible for a lot of toxicity in this fandom.
Thank you for your ask!

Me? Making up an RP server? Why... yes. [Join Link] (18+)
Baldur's Dweebs is a loose campaign-style Baldur's Gate 3 Roleplay Server that seeks to recreate the BG3 experience through written roleplay and with a little more nuance than the game itself allows, welcoming writers of Origins, Canons, Tavs, and OCs alike.
Still actively looking for people to claim Lae'zel, Karlach, Halsin, and Minthara if those characters pique anyone's interest!
Most other non-Origin canons are also up for grabs.
OOC / Server Rules: (more complete rules in the discord)
Be Excellent To Each Other
No discrimination of any kind towards both "privileged" (white, male, cis, straight, able-bodied, neurotypical, etc) and "unprivileged" (poc, female, trans, LGB, disabled, etc) groups. Respect must go both ways or you're not welcome here.
Admins and Mods are people too. Treat us how you'd like to be treated.
If you feel that another user is acting inappropriately, please bring it to the attention of one of our staff. If you are having problems with a staff member, bring it to the admin. Staff are not exempt from rules.
Admins / staff are community advocates and mediators, but not babysitters. We expect you to do your own due diligence about communication.
Keep All Topics To Appropriate Channels.
Avoid political talk.
Vague-posting, passive aggressive commentary, or harassment aimed at other current group members is a kickable offense.
Participating in "callout culture" is a kickable offense, except in the following circumstances and with hard, irrefutable evidence of the accused crimes:
-Malicious stalking & hardblock evasion -Sexual harassment -Grooming (regardless of ages) -OOC Pedophilia / Hebephilia / Ephebophilia -Death threats -Suicide baiting &/or "kill yourself" type behaviors -Targeted hate, harassment, and cyber-bullying -Generally anything that would legally fall under "criminal actions" in a court of law
Roleplay Rules:
The "Canon Claims" channel is for those who would like to be the server's "Main" version of any Baldur's Gate 3 canon character (Astarion, Shadowheart, Gale, etc). The channel works on a first-come first-serve basis.
Duplicates are allowed, but not considered "canon" to server-wide events and can only be played in "Non-Canon threads". (See further down)
All RP channels are required to use appropriate tags for threads. These tags include Public, Private, NSFW, Canon, and AU/Non-Canon.
In order to request a thread be marked "Canon", you must request the tag from admins. This is to avoid accidentally mismarking a thread or mismarking a thread in bad faith.
Private threads should list participants. Those not listed should ask the thread starter for an invitation first if they'd like to join the thread.
Canon Threads will be held to a higher standard of quality and realism than AU/Non-Canon threads, in order to maintain a cohesive narrative.
Questions and Answers:
Q: Are Duplicates allowed? A: Yes and no. For "Canon Threads", there is only 1 version of each canon muse allowed server-wide. However, there is no limit on duplicates in "AU/Non-Canon" threads.
Q: How many characters am I allowed to play? A: Currently, we want to limit Origin and Companion Canon muses to one per person. There is no limit on Tavs/OCs, characters from other franchises translated into BG3 (from anime series, live action shows, video games, etc), or non-Companion canon characters (such as Cazador, Raphael, Scratch, Thorm, Orin, Gortash, Orpheus, etc).
Q: Am I required to play a character infected with an Illithid/Mind Flayer parasite? A: No. In fact, we encourage that some not be.

whats your opinion on the whole shipping alastor thing?
I'm not TOO bothered by it?
I mean, as long as you're not a bigoted asshole purposely dismissing this part of his identity because you don't respect the sexuality and the community and wish the writers had written him differently, I don't think it's THAT big of a deal.
Don't get me wrong, I still think it's a bit icky to do it even with no harmful intent. Similarly to how I think it's icky and eyebrow-raising to make a gay character straight for your amusement or to make a POC character white for the same reasons, even if you didn't mean any harm.
But at the end of the day people are going to do whatever they want whenever they want, what a portion of a fandom is doing isn't going to have an impact on the original work, these characters will maintain their intended identities in canon, and I don't have the energy to be arguing with people who'll probably dismiss all I have to say.
I mean, they're already doing that. Because I've seen way too many instances of people yapping "It's fiction, relax!" or "It's a spectrum, just because a person is aroace doesn't mean that they don't have sex/can't date!" whenever an aroace person gives an opinion on this topic that isn't "I'm okay with this and I actually ship aroace characters too."
Anyway, my conclusion is: you wanna take an aroace character and ship them with another character, write x reader fanfiction, etc? Go ahead, it's your life, do your thing. But at least be respectful of that sexuality and the community? Don't be a jerk if an aroace person expresses discomfort with what you're doing or simply disagrees with you, be understanding.
And to my fellow aroace people and the allies who are out there trying to educate the fandom on our sexuality and express a view of this that isn't the "I'm completely fine with this" one and are being met with the same annoying and repetitive invalidating replies or straight up aro/ace-phobia, just don't engage. For your own sake, just block them. Don't stress yourself out.
But yeah, it's not necessarily the shipping that bothers me, it's the disrespect coming from some people who are into the shipping. It's just... tiring. And I could write a whole essay on how frustrating it is that people don't value platonic relationships as much as romantic ones and how aroace people are just always being dismissed.
But not to end this on a negative note: I loooove that Alastor is aroace and the weirdo has a special place in my heart.
I love his interactions with Lucifer (my 2° fave :^), they're funny as hell and I wanna see more of their friendly rivalry next season. I can see them being that kind of chaotic besties that argue and bicker with each other all the time but are there for one another when shit goes down and I'm so here for it.
He and Rosie are also a delight. Love them with all my heart, I had an amazing time whenever they appeared on the screen together and those were for sure some of my favorite moments.
Also, Vox's being tragically in love with Alastor and not being reciprocated AT ALL it's just funny to me. I don't like TV man, make him suffer.
Anyway, Alastor is the best character in this goddamn show and I'll fight anyone who says otherwise, thank you for coming to my ted-talk :))))))

I wanted to throw in my opinion on the Trans MC if you want it! Option 3 would be a lot of extra writing and coding, so I get that it wouldn't be a decision made lightly and it would be added pressure to get it right and it's a sensitive topic for sure. I will say that if you chose to go this route tho, it would make a huge difference and mean a lot to us. I'm a trans athlete, and the lack of representation can be really discouraging. It's time like these where we are receiving so much hate, especially when it comes to sports, that allies could really step up and make a difference. Reading can really open people's minds! It may be difficult and uncomfortable, and take extra work, but that's our everyday tbh. We out here living on hard mode 😂 that's just my thoughts on the matter but I will respect you and read your story either way. Much love 🏳️‍⚧️♥️
Hey! Thank you so much for sending this! This gets long, forgive my wordiness.
First off, I really feel your statement to the bone, the part about how allies could step up and make a difference, and how positive rep in media, games etc. is insanely important.
So many stories, TV shows, movies have shaped my experience of being queer and POC, and while some of them have been nice just so I could see someone like myself being represented, the ones that really made an impact are of course the ones where these identities were explored in a sensitive, thoughtful way. (When I watched Saving Face for the first time at 17, about a queer Chinese American doctor, I bawled my eyes out and dont think I've been the same since).
I would absolutely love if CT:OS/my IFs could do this for trans athletes too.
I've seen/heard so many worrying statements about trans athletes (both in real life and in the media)—and it makes me so sad.
Some that really get me really riled up are: The idea that a trans athlete's accomplishments mean nothing because they "have an unfair advantage" (or putting it down to "just hormones" or whatever instead of recognizing the hardwork, skill, and dedication behind EVERY successul athlete, trans or not). Or the idea that trans athletes shouldn't get to choose to be trans if they want to be athletes. Or the idea of policing trans athletes' bodies or forcing them to undergo surgery in order for them to be "valid"...
Well, FUCK THAT. FUCK those people.
If my IF can help celebrate trans athletes, and combat/shut down the really harmful (and ignorant) rhetoric out there? I'd love to do that.
But since I am not trans myself, it feels doubly, triply important that I wade really carefully here. I'd really need to spend time making sure I like and can stand behind what I'm putting out. I don't think it'd be responsible representation, otherwise!
I'm not really a perfectionist about my writing and that's how I make progress on my IFs while working a full time job. I'm more the... "slap shit tgt, get it out there, get feedback and edit if I feel like it" kind of writer. And I don't think I'd be able to finish CT:OS / Merry Crisis any other way. But when it comes to race, gender, and sexual identity? I really. Really. Wanna get things right.
(I rewrote that Rayyan convo about being a POC athlete with Deepal so many times haha and it was already marginally less scary, since I am a POC athlete.)
I guess what I'm trying to say is, I agree it's so goddamn important to have trans stories, and rep, especially in sports, where views are often so toxic and polarized.
But I don't think I know yet whether I see my IF being more a simple "yay, trans rep" kind of space or an actual deeper exploration of what it means to be a trans athlete. I was quite prepared to add the option to be trans (+ any accompanying scenes etc.) when I have the complete CT:OS 1st draft, but I was also toying with the idea of just putting something imperfect into the game earlier.
Faced with indecision, I've opted for: procrastination. I am still waffling, but it was helpful to hear what you guys think. Thank you so much for your message.
Lots of love, keep being awesome ❤️

May 1955
"So the chord progression is...." Cecelia trailed off as she looked over and saw Elvis, his fingers on the fret of his guitar, her cheeks rosy as she caught him looking back at her. Elvis and Cecelia had been friends now for a year. Yet their bandmates knew there was chemistry between them, "The chord progression is what?" Rosa asked, her guitar in hand as Cecelia was still stuck,
"D, G, C, Then D." Daphane said as she laughed, "But there's another D on Cecelia's mind." Cecelia snapped back when she heard Carlotta and Rosa laughing,
"I am not thinking of Elvis at all..." Cecelia huffed,
"No one mentioned him," Daphane smirked as Cecelia rolled her eyes. Sun had partnered up with Paradise Records to crossover some of their audience to a broader black audience, thus the reason Cecelia and her gobsmacking Garnets were on a tour bus with Elvis and many other artists on a tour. Hosted by Hank Snow, an acquaintance of Cecelia's mother, who wasn't accompanying her on the tour. However, her mother's assistant. Midge would be their babysitter, as Carlotta would put it.
They had made a quick lunch stop as Cecelia stayed on the bus to rework the arrangements of songs for the tour. She never meant to separate herself,
"Cece catch!" Elvis threw a burger at her, and she caught it as she laughed,
"Did you get bacon on it?"
"Oh shoot, I forgot..." He said in a sarcastic tone. He noticed her nose scrunch up as he smirked, "Of course I did!" He laughed as she sat next to him,
"So how's the arrangin goin'," Elvis asked, biting into his burger,
"Not good..." She blushed. Looking away as she bit into her burger, Elvis touched her hand. and her insides tingled,
"What's going on with it..." He asked. Taking a glance at her, Cecelia sighed, "Rosa's an alto, Daphane is a tenor and Carlotta's pitchy,"
"Bit bitchy too..." Elvis mumbled,
"What was that?"
"A bit pitchy too, I-I agree." He laughed as she leaned closer to him. "I know what you said, Pres." She playfully punched him as he pulled her into his lap, her legs flying up in her pink pants,
"ELVIS!!!!" She squeaked as he kept laughing, his tongue pressed against her face as he licked her cheek like a happy dog, "You had mustard on yer face." He winked as she chuckled,
"How's things with you and Dixie..." Changing the subject so she could ground herself,
 "Oh... uh..."
"Uh oh, I know that face..." Cecelia looked into his eyes, her heart pounding as she wanted to grab him and kiss him,
"We uh didn't make it..."
"You took her to prom and..."
"She said the fame was gettin too much for her to handle."
"Geez, Pres, I'm sorry..." Her eyes had a compassionate feel to them."I know you loved her," She hugged him as he blushed hard. He loved Dixie, but when he was in Cecelia's arms, he couldn't help but feel like he was home.
"I've gotten over it." He shrugged,
"Well, I uh broke up lately too," Elvis looked shocked. He didn't know she was seeing anyone, and suddenly. There was a pit of butterflies in his stomach taking over where jealousy was about to form.
"Well, not exactly a breakup, more like we went out, and it just wasn't uh..."
"Right." He responded as their eyes met, "Yeah..." She looked down at his lips as she began to imagine how they'd feel on hers,
"Scotty!" Rosa giggled,
"Tonight... would be perfect, rain and love maki-" The two stopped as they saw Elvis and Cecelia, the two clearing their throats as they blushed,
 "Uh..."
"Don't care..." Carlotta sighed. As the rest of the artists got back on the bus. The night then began to fall as Cecelia and Elvis were now in the back clowning around and reading,
"Will you two knock it off!" DJ shouted playfully as the pair laughed, balancing coins on his head, "Sorry, DJ!" Hank shook his head. It was like herding cats, except the cats were America's brightest stars. Cecelia then pulled out a book.
"The Return of The King?" Elvis questioned as Cecelia looked up.
"Yes..."
"Oh great, she's reading her nerd book..." Rosa groaned,
"You like J.R.R. Tolkien!" he grinned as she nodded, "Mind if I read with ya..." He asked as Cecelia smiled,
"I don't mind." She pulled out her blanket and pulled him close to her,
"You can get under it if you'd like."
"I wanna get under you..." He mumbled as Cecelia turned red and ignored his comment, but Elvis knew she heard him. Getting under, he took the book from her as he read. His voice was soothing and relaxing as she lay in his lap, "Elvis..."
"Hmm..."
"N-nothing." She took a deep breath as Elvis winked, "You sure, darlin?"
"Yeah."
The bus had stopped at the motel as the ground rules were set to who was staying where and who would be sharing what rooms.
"I'm staying with Scotty tonight..." Rosa smirked as Cecelia nodded. She was still stuck at what happened, the feeling she felt in his lap, the feeling she got looking at him, "Hey, Cece, you okay?" Rosa asked, changing into her sexy negligee, "Yeah... I uh," she wrapped her arms around herself, "Uh oh... You're in love." Rosa smiled,
 "Or lust..."
"L-Lust...I've never..."
"C, you're a woman, not a little girl anymore, no matter how your mama treats you,"
"But... I promised my mother I'd-"
"She's not here, and Midge is at a Casino with her wife. Let loose a little," Rosa said as she chuckled, "Besides if you don't stew Elvis's cabbage, someone else will..." Rosa said as Cecelia rolled her eyes, but she was right,
"It's not sex, Rosa, I... Love him." She sat by the window as she swooned,
"Okay, and so do many others..." She turned to face her friend as she was applying her makeup, "Oh... You're in love, love..." Rosa giggled, "Awe, finally!" She cheered as Cecelia blushed hard," I knew you liked him since that night in the diner, but you came to your feelings." She kept awing at her, "Does Elvis know..." Rosa asked,
"No..." Rosa face-palmed at Cecelia,
"So you're saying you got a thing for Val?" DJ smirked, "We knew that." Scotty added as Elvis rolled his eyes, "I don't know if she's into me..." He sighed as his bandmates stared at him, "Elvis... She adores ya." Bill laughed, "No girl would share her book with you less she likes you," DJ added as Elvis nodded, "You got a point," Elvis smiled, he had loved Cecelia since he met her, but what he was feeling tonight was a bit different, with the pitter-patter of the rain of the window he could imagine holding her close and kissing her lips and trailing sweet kisses down her,
"So, Elvis, you know when Rehearsals are?"
"Hell, if I know Scotty..."
KNOCK
     KNOCK
KNOCK
The door opened, and there stood Rosa in her robe as she looked at Scotty, "Goodnight gentlemen..." Rosa said, practically kicking them out of the room as Elvis, DJ, And Bill stood laughing, "Well, we're gonna hit the hay, but you have a good night, E."
Cecelia tried to go to sleep, but she couldn't. She kept thinking of Elvis and how she wanted him close to her, but nothing would do, "Guess I'll call..." Taking the phone into the room, she called her mother,
 "Denise Valmos speaking, who's this?"
"It's just me calling to say we made it to the motel. We have rehearsals tomorrow at 10 am." She smiled,
"Mhmm and you're staying clear of that Elvis boy?" Cecelia felt her heart flutter at the mention of his name, "Y-Yeah..."
"Good, you know they say he could be a sexual deviant." Denise sighed,
 "Mother..."
"Yes..."
"Nothing, I'll call you tomorrow." Cecelia smiled and hung up. Putting on her heeled slippers, she put on her dramatic robe and walked to the tour bus, opening the door. She sat in the back and leaned against the cool metal wall of the bus as the rain dropped. It reminded her of the tin roof she grew up under as a kid. Her mind began to wander, and Elvis was in all her thoughts as she blushed. Maybe it was time to tell him that she liked him,
"This... Uh, bus taken?"
"Not at all..." His hair was a bit wet from the rain. She bit her lip, not knowing what her body was going through, but she wouldn't say she wasn't enjoying it,
"Couldn't sleep either, huh?"
"Not really..." She sighed, "A lot on my mind..."
"Like what? "
"Well... There's this someone I like a lot..." Elvis felt a punch in his gut as he tried to smile,
 "Oh... What's this, fella like..."
"Well, he's... Charmin, smart, kind, funny, country..." She got closer to him,
"Sounds good... What's he look like?"
"Tall, dark handsome..." That could be anyone, was what Elvis thought, "Beautiful blue eyes and the most pouty kissable lips." Elvis smirked as he turned to her, his signature curl stuck to his forehead as she bit her lip. Elvis leaned in closer,
"Would I know him..." Cecelia got closer,
"Depends..."
"Who is it..."
"You..." She smirked as she felt his lips on hers. They were as soft as a dream cloud, and suddenly, her brain was flaming, her eyes were closed, and the rain was falling harder. Elvis licked her bottom lip as she opened her mouth, heat radiating off of them as his heart was beating faster. Her thighs were by both sides of his legs, and she was on top of him,
"Didn't think you'd be this kind of girl..." He smirked,
"Neither did I..." She giggled, and the two continued to make out as Elvis was now on top of her, her leg wrapped around his waist as he was now kissing down her neck,
"May I have you..."
"Yes..." She moaned as she blushed. She was shocked at herself. One-half of her wished she'd said no, but the rest of her wanted this new forbidden feeling.
"You sure..."
"More than anything..." She smiled at him. Elvis pulled himself out from his pajama pants as she gasped,
"Mind putting me in, honey." He asked as she blushed. Cecelia had no clue what she was doing, but neither did Elvis, but still, it felt so right. Although Elvis was big, he was girthy and gentle. Cecelia held onto him. She was adjusting to his size as she hid her face in his shoulder,
"What's wrong..."
"Embarrassed," She sighed,
"It's just us and the rain," He kissed her neck as he smiled, his hands touching the silk of her nightgown, "Just us..." His hips sputtered into her as she moaned again,
 "You okay?"
"Mhmm..." Cecelia blushed, "Could you do that again..." His hips moved again as she let out another breathy moan,
"You like that..." His voice was husky,
"Yes..." The rain continued to beat harder against the window that was fogging up. His hands were on her hips as her eyes closed from the pleasure.
"Look at me, princess..." Her eyes opened as she fell in love even more,
 "Oh..."
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing... I liked that too." She felt him picking up the pace with his thrust as she began to grind into him. It was like a dance. He'd lead, and she'd follow,
"Fuck.. Cece!"
"Yes!" She gasped, her hands pressed against the glass of the back window,
 "Faster!"
"Like that?"
"A little more..." She moaned, her back arching at the sight,
"Like that?"
"A bit more..." Elvis gripped her hips as he began to roll his hips into her,
"Fuck fuck fuck yes! YES!" Cecelia nearly growled,
"Oh God! Cece, you feel so good." Elvis trembled, feeling her tighten around him. He was hitting her G-spot, and she was loving it. Her body fell into what some would call pleasure, "More!" She began to beg as Elvis closed his eyes. He was nearing his end as he moaned in her ear, "Fuck..." He shuttered as Cecelia felt warm inside, her breathing heavy as Elvis felt drowsy.
 "Elvis..."Her eyes were wide.
"Hmm..."
 "Did we just have..."
"Mhmm..."
"Do you think she knows..."
"Who?"
"My mama... What if she knows!" Cecelia asked, "What if I failed her, and she can feel it..." She said as Elvis laughed and kissed her. "What Mrs. Valmos won't know won't hurt her," He pulled her close, "As long as I didn't get you pregnant..." Elvis said as Cecelia panicked, "ELVIS!"
"You kept sayin more, and You looked like an angel... and, well, It slipped out." Elvis sighed as Cecelia blushed,
"It was kinda sexy..."She grinned. Elvis pulled out of her, and she felt his warm seed drip down her leg,
"Very hot..." She kissed him. The two then got reoriented as Cecelia walked back into the motel. She bumped into Midge, who was smirking. Oh crap, she knew, and she'd tell Denise.
"So you and Elvis, huh..."
"I-I didn't do anything. How do you know? Are my hips wide or somethin!"
"No, you're just really loud,"
"What do you mean loud,"
"Oh, Elvis, yes!" Daphane and Carlotta teased,
"Not to mention the bus was shaking." Midge winked,
"Don't tell my mama..."
"That you became a woman, of course not," Midge smirked,
"We're gonna order champagne and celebrate!" Daphane smirked,
"Celebrate what," Rosa smirked, her lipstick smeared around her lips as she saw the look in her eyes,
"Oh... Wait, no..." Rosa began to question as she then saw Elvis walk by,
"Will I see you in my dreams tonight..."
"No, but you'll see me in your room tonight..." Cecelia winked. Cecelia smirked, "Excuse me, ladies..." She walked by them and took him by the arm.
"She used to look at me like that..." Carlotta sighed,
*Bonus*
The morning birds chirped as Cecelia woke up, "Mornin sleepy head..." Elvis grinned, combing his hair.
"Mornin... Why're you all dressed up?"
"We got rehearsals today," Elvis mentioned,
"At, 10," Cecelia mentioned,
"Cece, it's 9:59."
"FUCK!"
"We did all night long." He joked as Cecelia got up and began to get ready, sometimes Elvis was a pain in the ass, but the life she was leading felt so right,
"ELVIS, MOVE!" she laughed, his arms around her waist as she was brushing her teeth,
"Make me." He laughed as she rolled her eyes,
"I gotta spit this out!"
"I know something else you can spit out." He smirked,
"ELVIS!"
"CECE!"
"You two knock it off!" Hank shuddered, "I better not come in there and see you two-"
"Two what?" Cecelia smiled, dressed and in her makeup, "See you on the bus, Mr. Snow." Elvis smiled,
