Lost in a dark place after a mission, you find comfort and support from the little friends sent by him.

The lights above your head flickered and then turned off completely, plunging you into darkness in the heart of a cold abandoned tunnel. You quickly turned on the watch on your wrist, but its flickering light was little compared to this pitch-dark place.

Trying to remain cool, you used the watch to scan the surroundings once. There was no longer any threat as your mission was completed. What remained was to find a way out of here. Since this location was relatively distant from Linkon, the tunnel had been abandoned, and the map had not been updated, you could no longer rely on the Hunter's Watch to discover the way out. So you fumbled in the dark and returned the same way you had entered.

But the battle just now with the Wandering Monsters had collapsed a section of the tunnel, making it impossible for you to return, so you must go on. The further you went, the darker it became. The cold and all the unpleasant smells in the tunnel made you dizzy. You truly wanted to escape this place.

Because it evoked unsettling memories.

You had no idea what those memories were or when they had happened to you. You felt a faint sense of being imprisoned, abandoned in the dark and cold. There was no life—only oblivion. All of a sudden, you were paralyzed with fear. You were not a weak Hunter and were completely able to finish the mission on your own. But, at that very moment, you needed a companion more than ever.

At that point, you noticed a tiny bit of light ahead. Perhaps the exit was right there. You rushed towards it, only to find that the light was also racing at you.

You paused. The light moved. It resembled a firefly, but with a brighter golden hue than usual. It danced around you, as if it was delighted to have discovered you in a place like this. You extended a hand to receive it. Its warmth seeped into the palm of your hand, calming and reassuring you.

Then, from where it came, hundreds more fireflies just like the first one appeared. They flew close together, filling in to wake up the tunnel that had recently lost power as if they were hosting a light party. They followed one another, whirling over your head and buzzing around you. Then they fanned out on both sides of the path, carefully lined up to illuminate the route ahead for you.

Why were there fireflies? You were startled, yet grateful to these lights for coming by your side, accompanying you and supporting you when you didn't want to be alone in this situation. You thanked them with a nod before taking a step forward.

You followed the guiding light. Every turn and obstacle on the route was clearly marked by their lights. Sometimes they even formed an arrow to indicate the direction. And occasionally they made you giggle by forming adorable plushies that were so similar to the ones you had piled up in your bedroom. Such a pleasant and familiar warmth had you wondering, were these guiding fireflies sent from an angel you might know?

Feeling the chilly wind and the rustle of leaves over your head, you knew you had exited the tunnel. However, the landscape ahead was still somewhat gloomy. The moonlight was unable to penetrate through the foliage, and the woodland in front of you was dense with mist. But you were no longer terrified. The fireflies that had always been at your side suddenly flew forward, guiding you through the forest.

"Hey, where are you taking me?" You couldn't help but be fascinated. "Are you taking me home, or somewhere else?"

A small cloud of fireflies gathered in front of you, creating the shape of a charming rabbit. He gave you an adoring gaze for a brief moment. His warm, luminous nose caressed your fingertips, beckoning you to follow him. The entire woodland blazed with firefly light as the rabbit galloped onward, dashing into the mist.

You hurriedly followed. The rabbit led you along the path up the mountain. The woods thinned out as you ascended higher, revealing a pure sky with the moon and stars lazily staring down. All the rays of light raced past you, converging on that very golden rabbit. Then the entire thing flew into the sky, exploding like magnificent fireworks.

Your eyes were wide open, in such amazement that you were speechless with the light show above your head. You climbed to the top of the mountain and recognized that silhouette from afar.

"Isn't it pretty?"

A familiar voice rang out. Xavier stood there, surrounded by tens of thousands of glowing fireflies. He turned slightly to look at you. He raised one hand to chest level, and the dots of light gathered into a swirl, as if he were holding the entire galaxy in the palm of his hand.

“It's you.” You shouted in joy. You had already guessed it. Who could possess such a warm, beautiful Evol light other than him? Who could find you no matter any darkness you were, but him?

The light from him gradually flowed towards you, touching your body, your hair, gently leaving a tickle on your nose, and making you laugh. You gazed at him, who was gently striding towards you. You used to think that love had all kinds of brilliant colors, but it turned out to be just a simple yet wonderfully warm golden. His golden color.

Xavier released the lights up high, allowing them to blossom into a new series of fireworks. Then you both sat down on the grass and watched.

“How did Xavier find me? I recall you have no missions today."

Xavier smiled. He did not rush to answer right away, simply gazed at you like that. Perhaps you had also guessed something. Was it not a coincidence that every time you went on a mission alone or got into a dangerous situation, he would always appear in time to help?

"Thank you." You said. Despite the fact that you had only known him for a short time, you felt at ease with him, almost dependent on him somehow.

“In the future, if you get lost, just follow the light from my little firefly friends.”

You nodded. The breeze wafted the aroma of wildflowers about. Shoulder to shoulder, you and Xavier seemed to be drawing a little closer together.

No matter how frightening the darkness I fall into, I will always find my way home, thanks to you.

About update and more

First of all, don't worry, I'm working on the next update and already have most of the things planned out.

And I'm thinking of doing something. So that things don't stay so linear and you guys have to interfere more in things, which will be inevitable. What I mean by this is: Routes.

At some point, you'll have two options.

Two paths, to be more specific. One of order: where you choose to find a way to resolve things and ensure peace, whether in an aggressive way or not. Killing, manipulating, or not.

And one of chaos: where you choose, well, chaos. In the sense that you'll make things escalate, and there will indeed be a large number of enemy deaths and you'll plot to end the hunters (not all of them, if you so choose) or control them in some way.

In both cases, you'll have the option to kill or not, what will change is your central objective in these cases. For example, an order mc who chooses to help restore peace may seek help and talk to other beings and hunters to resolve the situation. With the central objective of peace.

While a chaos one will seek ways to eliminate threats or control them, in this case, hunters and other beings. With the central objective of control, etc.

The scenes and options will be different, although some things will remain the same, the execution will be different. And if there's one thing I like, it's differences, whether minor or major. There are people from my other WIP who had no idea that there were other scenes and options at some points until I or someone else mentioned it, and maybe I'll make a guide later on options, or if someone there wants to lend a hand, it's also welcome.

The hybrid will be in the middle of this mess, obviously. In both cases, this hybrid will still be the problem, the question is who the mc will ally with and how the mc will resolve this.

There won't be a passive route, it will be order, or chaos. In both cases, the mc will also have the option to ally and maybe, just maybe... become more than just a catalyst and supporter, but a leader... maybe. It will depend on some options.

But, what do you guys think of this?

My solangelo headcanons:

•The first time Will noticed his crush on Nico was in ttc, when Nico was asking Percy to take care of Bianca, because he had to be up soon to help in the nursery(Lee got mad at him for being late bc after Percy left, he stayed around 20 minutes just staring at Nico)

•After hoo(but before toa), Will decided that, atleast once a month, all Apollo kids would have a karaoke night and made his siblings accept Nico there with the same zombie excuse that Nico used to sit next to him toa

•After a year of dating, Will admited to Nico that the karaoke night was an excuse to sing taylor swift songs(more especifically the lover album) to him and Nico blushed extremely hard

•In Nico's first birthday with Will, Will made him a corn party and made fun of him for over a month bc of that

•Every second saturday of the month, Nico and Reyna left their camps(and, later, the hunters) to go to mc donalds, and, when Will asked him abt what he did every second saturday of the month and why he was so busy, he said it eas family meeting

•The first person Nico told abt his crush on Will was Jason and the first person Will told was Michael Yew

•Nico used to sneak around to the Apollo cabin to sleep in Will's bed and just cuddle when he had nightmares, but all Will's siblings thought it was something else, so Will started to go to tge Hades cabin instead

•Every time Will slept in the Hades cabin with Nico, Apollo made the sun not hit in their faces bc he though they were the cutest sleeping like that

•Nico is the ultimate cone head(coana gray stan)* and Will is the ultimate swifty(taylor swift stan), but both totally love gracie abrams

•None of them actually proposed(you'll understand what i mean)

•To the proposal, Nico summoned a bunch of skeletons to help him decorate their house and make a special picnic in the garden(with a surprise party inside the house celebrating the engagement), but he got tired and slept before Will got home from the hospital he worked, so Will found him sleeping in the garden, and when he woke him up, the first thing Nico said was "yes, I'll marry you, future other ghost king" and then kissed him, letting Will totally confused, after comming back to sleep in his arms

•In the morning after the non-proposal, Nico explained everything and they just enjoyed the party without formally proposing to each other

•Will's best man and women were Kayla and Austin, and Nico's were Percy and Annabeth

•They adopted a Hermes child whose mother was their neigborhood after she couldn't take care of him bc of the monsters and left the country

•The name of their daughter was Bianca and turned out the percabeth's daughter(Silena) was her type

Omg, thank you for being interested in my little plot bunnies! TYSCATDSC was literally so good, it was impossible for me not to run with it. It's rife with so much possibility, it made me think of all the different ways MC and the brothers could have reunited, what they would have to do to mend their relationship after the fact, MC and Lilith bonding time, it's just. An amazing fic. The plot, the characterization, everything.

I too am (obviously, I guess) a sucker for MC whump. We rarely get it in game, so we have to do it ourselves. I have started writing the “good ending” version with my MC, so if it’s okay with you, I might post the MC survives!version once I finish it?

The “bad ending” where MC doesn’t survive is something I started, but I'm not sure if I'll ever finish. I will say it was Solomon who found out about MC’s death first. 2ish years after the end of the exchange program, a friend of his overhears some hunter bragging about killing the “master of the 7 avatars of sin”. He goes back to MC’s hometown to try to track them down, and winds up hearing about an unidentified body being found in the woods like a year earlier. The witch hunters essentially cut them off from using their pacts (so Satan never knew what happened to them either), tortured and destroyed their soul before leaving them in the woods. MC is just gone forever, and the way I planned the rest of the plot, it’s all the characters reacting to the fact that their soul was literally wiped from the world and no one noticed. Not the angels, not the demons, not even the humans. They died suffering and alone, their body wasn’t found for almost a full year after they died, and they were buried in an unmarked grave until Solomon came by, by chance. I hurt my own feelings writing that one and I may or may not finish it one day, but it would be a tough one for me to continue.

As for the NB headcanons, have u ever listened to The Alcott by The National and Taylor Swift? Bc there’s this whole part that Taylor sings in the chorus and it goes like “tell me which side are you on, dear? / give me some tips to forget you / could it be easy, this once? / I think I'm falling back in love with you” and that is like. The whole vibe I was working with here. Honestly, the whole song was a vibe. I think NB would happen maybe a few years after the exchange program ends. MC has gotten used to being without the brothers (minus Satan, who they are able to see every few months, when he can get away from his responsibilities) when they are sent back in time, again. NB happens same as usual, except now MC has to deal with unresolved (romantic?) feelings for the brothers who now do not know them, and their only solace (Satan) is a blank slate and rife with resentment and violent rage. I think Solomon would still come to help them, but I imagine him in a more antagonistic role; in this version of NB, I see Solomon taking advantage of MC’s broken heart and loneliness and trying to sway them to his (humanity’s) side, maybe try and get them to fall in love with him instead.

Meanwhile, in the present day, Barbatos invites the Morningstars over for tea and casually mentions that the human who held all of their pacts has been unceremoniously chucked into the past by an unknown (?) entity. That’s all I have until more lessons come out, but I love to think of all the extra angst putting TYSCATDSC!MC into the NB universe causes. Knowing the brothers intimately while they know nothing whatsoever; watching them grieve Lilith and being unable to tell them they get her back one day; going through the motions knowing that another goodbye is inevitable; torn between not wanting to get close again, and being helpless to the feelings that always seem to come around when it comes to these brothers.

I'd be 100% down to read the MC survives!version first! As much as I'm a sucker for whump, I like happy endings too!! Do take your time, and please tag me when you post it 🙏🏻

That bad ending tho, holy shit. It hurts so good omg thank you for feeding us such delicious angst!! It really encapsulates the replaced!AU so well, the way MC is just lost to them (be it by their own neglect or external forces) and they can't do anything about it until it's way too late. I totally understand if you don't finish that one; my heart aches just reading what you have so far 🥲

And I love those lyrics for the NB headcanons! MC's entire support system is just gone, and I'm super intrigued by the sus!Solomon subplot you got there. As for the brothers... oof. Imagine being reminded of the one family member they neglected for years, only to be told that they've been lost in time. MC isn't dead (at least for now), but there's no way the brothers can get to them either. They must be going insane with all the worry and guilt.

I'm holding off writing too deeply for NB myself cus we're relatively early into the story so I wanna see where it goes first, but poor MC's really getting the short end of the stick no matter what eh? Nick is still in a weird place, unsure of how he wants to move forward in his life as a Night Hunter, but when something turns up on his doorstep, things start to become clearer.

With a day with no work for either Nick or Stacy, they follow a recipe for making their own Easter Eggs with Stacy going for a minty chocolate flavour while Nick works on a white and milk mix. However things don't go as Nick planned as the chocolate doesn't spread as it should.

Nick - Spread please! Very pretty please!

Stacy - Pass it here.

He hands her the tray and she spreads it without any issue.

Stacy - There we go.

She hands it back to him and he tries it as she did, but still doesn't have any luck. Not wanting to get angry, Nick sets it down, taking a deep breath. Stacy lays a hand on top of his, turning his head to face her.

Stacy - What's wrong? And don't say it's the chocolate.

She sits Nick down, keeping one hand in her ambrace.

Nick - I feel... lost.

Stacy - You don't know you if you want the life of a Night Hunter. Am I close?

He manages a smile and nods.

Nick - It's who I've been for so long now, I don't know who I'd be without it.

Stacy - You'd still be the man who proposed to me a month ago. And I told you, no matter what, I'd back you. We're a team, remember?

Nick - Yeah.

Stacy - Come here.

She brings him in closer, wrapping her arms around him. He brings his arms up around her. They remain like that for a moment before Stacy stands.

Stacy - Now come on. Let's get these finished.

Nick - Okay.

In the early hours of the morning, the couple are woken by the doorbell ringing.

Stacy - What?

Nick - It's 3AM!

Stacy unwraps herself from Nick and they get out of bed, heading over to the door. Opening the door, Nick kneels down to find an egg on the floor. He picks the egg up, caught off guard by the weight.

Nick - Whoa!

He kicks the door closed, showing the egg to Stacy.

Stacy - What is it?

Nick sniffs it, unsure of what the scent is, for a moment, he considers a different way to try and figure it out, which Stacy instantly picks up on.

Stacy - Do not lick it.

He sets the egg down and they both look it over.

Nick - Never seen anything like it.

Stacy places a hand on it.

Stacy - It's warm.

Now feeling wide awake from curiosity, Nick and Stacy begin going through Nick's lore books, looking for anything resembling the egg, but as the time passes and the sun begins to rise, they find nothing.

Nick - Damn.

Looking at the time, Stacy takes a photo and sends it to one person she has a feeling can give an answer.

Stacy (T) - Any idea on this? It was left on our doorstep earlier. We checked all the books and found nothing.

Ava (T) - Give me a bit of time.

As morning turns into afternoon, Nick sketches the egg in his book when a portal opens and Ava steps through, book in hand.

Nick - Hey, Ava.

Ava - Got something for you. How the hell did you get it?

Stacy - We heard the doorbell at about 3 and just found it there. Nobody around.

Ava looks the egg over, glancing down at her book.

Ava - Oh yeah. Definitely.

Nick - What exactly have we been left?

Ava shoves the book into Nick's hands and he reads the pages, his eyes widening.

Nick - You're kidding.

Ava - 'Fraid not. You two have got yourselves a Dragon egg.

Stacy - Okay, why have we been left a Dragon egg?

Ava - No idea. But...

She places her hand on it, feeling the warmth.

Ava - Yeah, this baby's ready to hatch very soon

Stacy - Uh, very soon?

Ava - They get warmer when they're nearing hatching.

Nick - Okay, as much as I would like to see a Dragon. I'd rather it not be in my home.

Ava - Best thing I can suggest is we get it to the woods.

Nick goes to pick it up, however has to let it go as the egg has only become warmer.

Nick - Okay.

Stacy - I'll grab a couple of towels.

Nick - I am gonna call Lucas to try and get things closed off so this can happen without an audience. That being said, I may call Dan, Andy, and Lily. They might want to see this.

Stacy - You know Connor will want to see this as well.

Ava - I'll tell my dad, get him to help Lucas

A few hours later, Nick, Stacy, Ava, Andy, Lucas, Lily, and Dan all gather in a clearing in the woods. Flashing lights in the distance from the Westchester police keeping the woods closed off. Lucas kneels down examining the egg.

Lucas - This is so weird.

He falls back as the egg cracks, and goes to join the others at the edge of the clearing. Nick lays his hand over the hilt of his sword as the egg begins to hatch.

Nick - This is it.

Pieces of the egg fall and soon a baby white Dragon looks around at them. Nick releases his blade and carefully approaches the creature.

Andy - You're seriously going to try and pet it?

Nick - I want it to know we're not a danger.

As he nears the Dragon, he gets onto his knees, holding his hand out. The Dragon sniffs, cautiously approaching Nick.

Nick - It's okay. I won't hurt you.

The Dragon spreads it's wings, screeching and Nick backs up a bit.

Nick - Okay!

The Dragon does a series of screeches.

Dan - What do you think it's doing?

Lucas - Calling out to another maybe?

Winds pick up as their answer is soon given. A much larger white Dragon lands in the clearing, glaring at Nick.

Nick - Everyone keep back.

Lily - That must be the mother.

Dragon - Why did you take my child?!

Nick - I didn't! The egg was left with my Fiancée and I this morning! I promise.

The Dragon lowers her head to look into Nick's eyes. Nick looks back into the ice blue eyes.

Dragon - You speak the truth.

Nick - Yeah.

Dragon - There are many who wish to use Dragon's for their own gain by stealing our eggs. I do not sense that with you. Instead I sense you are at war with yourself.

Nick swallows. Still feeling a bit of fear.

Dragon - Let things happen, and you will find your answer.

The Dragon looks to it's baby before looking back at Nick.

Dragon - I thank you for your care. We will return to Lamrian.

The baby Dragon tries to take off, but with no success. The mother lowers her wing, letting the baby climb onto her back. They soon take off and Jason can only smile at the sight. Once they are gone, Stacy joins him, holding him.

Dan - Wow...

Andy - That was amazing...

Lucas - At least we don't have to explain it to the media since the Vampires revealed themselves.

That night, Nick stares up at the ceiling. Stacy kisses his shoulder to get his attention.

Stacy - What's going on in that head of yours?

Nick - I think I know where I'm going. I've been seeing things in the darkness for so long, that I forgot about the light.

Stacy - You want to keep going?

Nick - Maybe.

Smiling, Stacy captures his lips in a soft kiss.

Stacy - Glad you're figuring things out.

They settle to get more comfortable and let sleep take them.

I adored the new album and some of her songs (not just from this album) are definitely in the ship playlists I have and I can't share them with anyone because I don't want to spoil you guys nor my friends about the story so I just suffer in silence with the songs. My favorite is "Midnight Rain" because insert sounds of cars crashing and screaming crying all that.

I listen to "Anti-Hero" a lot for Luceris, he's not one but it's so good for him oh my god. Also "would've, could've, should've" is so good. Okay I need to stop talking about my music obsession so let's get into it! Thank you for the ask anon 💗

If MC was mortally wounded and there was no help coming then all the ROs are crying except Soarine and Vincent because they have been condiotioned to keep it together under dire circumstances. I'm going to assume MC is dying, there's 0 help coming and it's just the two of them.

Fadiya would do her best to try and heal MC and if they said that she'd start crying harder and tell them to shut up and stop talking. Her hands shake as she does her best to heal MC, no matter how powerful she is she can't bring back the dead. The fear she's too late haunts her as she watches the color drain from MC.

Helios has a sore throat from how much he has screamed out for help. He doesn't know who he's asking for help since there's no one around but he keeps cradling MC in his arms and pleading. He repeats "no" like a prayer as MC speaks out the words, he refuses to believe this is how he loses them.

Hunter tries their best to not cry but there are tears streaming down their face. They tell MC to stop saying things like that and makes a few jokes to make MC smile and not focus on the pain. The fear in their eyes is clear but there's a small smile they put on for show as they tell them random things to keep MC awake.

Soarine is the one that gets angry at MC for saying such things. She tells them to stop it and how dare they think they could leave her. There are tears in her eyes and her voice cracks as she keeps berating MC but the arms that hold MC are gentle and she says after MC is healed she will spar with them without holding back.

Vincent has always been told to not show fear in front of others because when he becomes the leader of the imperial army he will have to make sure the soldiers don't lose morale because of him. He appears calm in front of MC but he's so afraid. He tells MC to stop being silly and assures them help will arrive at any moment so they should focus on staying awake. As time passes by, his mask beings to crack and the way he clings to MC is a sign even he doesn't believe help will come in time.
