The Triassic period was the first period of the Mesozoic era and occurred between 251.9 million and 201.3 million years ago.
It followed the great mass extinction at the end of the Permian period and was a time when life outside of the oceans began to diversify.

homunculus facts¡
fossil evidence' especially from the 90,s onward' has indicated that many homunculi from the mesozoic era were feathered•
i have a different number of toes on each foot• another homunculus from the same batch as me has no toes at all•

cement Ichthyosaur (sculpted by Benjamin Waterhouse Hawkins under direction of paleontologist Sir Richard Owen, 1853-1855) - being pulled out for its annual cleaning - photography - Crystal Palace, London - February, 1927
Loz Pycock’s 2009 photograph of another of the three cement ichthyosaurs
Though the three ichthyosaurs are displayed partly in water, they are implausibly shown basking on land like seals. Owen supposed they resembled crocodiles or plesiosaurs. Later fossil evidence shows that the ichthyosaurs have more in common with sharks and dolphins, having a dorsal fin and fish-like tail, whereas in Hawkins's models the tail is a flat protuberance from a straight backbone. A further discrepancy is that the models' eyes have exposed bony sclerotic plates, Owen conjecturing that with such large eyes they had "great powers of vision, especially in the dusk". Although ichthyosaurs are not dinosaurs, they became one of the three mascots of Crystal Palace Dinosaur Park, along with the Iguanodon and Megalosaurus. The models resemble Early Triassic ichthyosaurs such as Cymbospondylus.

Sceeenshots from last nights Path of Titans Session. Played a Female Yutyrannus. She had two mates in this session her first mate (pictured with her) was killed by a Rex, her second still survived the night to watch his adopted children grow to adolescent. The pack consisted of three females (one pictured with her, the dark grey though she ended up leaving and being replaced by the adopted daughter ) one male and two offspring. Unfortunately the adopted daughter was killed by a Rex :( but both of my Yutys children lived to adolescents before we logged for the night. One of my firends happend to be playing as a male and tried to challenge the dominant male for his spot but lost, other friend was trailing behind as a Utahraptor.
We actually witnessed a rB for a Rex (ofc a Rex) but I’m not gonna put a ticket in since I wasn’t the one who died but we love RBing :)

The analysis of a small collection of tiny fossilized jawbones bearing distinctive back teeth flips our understanding of when and where modern mammals evolved on its head, according to the team of researchers who produced it.
Each of these specimens, measuring an inch or less, had distinctive back teeth. According to the latest analysis which revisits them, the oldest fossil predates those found in the Northern Hemisphere by some 50 million years.
The teensy teeth in question are called tribosphenic molars, which interlock top and bottom to cut, crush, puncture and grind plant food and insect prey.
The mammal jawbones from the Mesozoic era were discovered: in Madagascar, Argentina, India, and again, most recently, in Australia.

It’s been 10 years ever since the bizzare-headed marine reptile Atopodentatus unicus, which lived about 247-240 million years ago, was discovered from the Triassic rocks of China, and it still continues to bewilder and fascinate many a paleontologist and paleo-nerd to this day.

a random thought:
dinosaurs existed. 250+ million years ago, dinosaurs existed. Big reptiles/birds.. that dominated the land, no human beings, just... DINOS.
It's almost hard to believe. But it is so fascinating.
Some dino's so big you could hear their footsteps over a mile away. Some dino's whose sounds were so low frequency you wouldn't even know they were there until it was too late because they COULD be super quiet.
Anyways xD just a random thought cos I'm getting super into Paleontology.
