elementary schoolers are literally trained in fucking shooter protocol. no other country is facing this fucking pandemic. guns are not a necessary constitutional right they are an outdated stipulation from the 1700s when British colonizers had to hunt and had to fight on the frontier.

Hello. for those of you who are unaware, I am a student at Michigan state university. if you've been keeping up with the news, you may know where this is going.

TW: Gun violence, death, shooting

at 8:18 pm on February 13th, shots were fired into a nearby building on campus. from that point on, we were on lockdown. I barricaded myself in my dorm room with my roommate and started reaching out to those I knew.

3 of my classmates lost their lives, and several more are injured. I will be putting updates here for what's going on around campus and any GoFundMes made to support the victims and/or their families.

Please. don't make this another statistic. that could've been me that lost my life. Please fight for me and my classmates. they deserve to be alive today.

Crazy to think that not even 2 hrs away from me, there is an active shooter on a college campus and I am just driving to work as usual. I ordered donuts for Valentine’s Day tomorrow, no doubt some of those other kids did, too. It was just supposed to be a normal day at college for them and now it’s turned into one of the worst days of their lives. Fuck this country and its love affair with guns and the fucking NRA.

Michigan State Shooting

Today, at least 3 of my fellow Spartans were gunned down going to class and hanging out in our student union. 

This was mere steps away from the dorm where I lived, worked, and loved for years. 

This was a building I’d had classes in. 

This was a union I spent countless hours in. 

My cousin was there, locked in the basement of the place where she lived - the place she was supposed to feel safest. 

These were people, students, young people who had their entire lives ahead of them. 

My heart is broken. And tomorrow, the news will move on. It always will. But several families are once again shattered because of our fucking gun laws. 

No other wealthy nation in the world deals with this. 

None.

For over what seemed like a life time, I had my friends and family frantically hiding in buildings and dorms. Being told to run, fight, hide if they came face to face with the attacker. Posting what could have been their last messages to friends and family.

You are a coward. We have no idea why you decided to do this. We will never have the answers for your decisions tonight.

No one should ever have to utter the words, I survived a mass shooting. And the saddest thing is, the same thing will occur next month and the month after that.

Residents and students in East Lansing are urged to shelter in place Monday night following two shootings at Michigan State University.

According to school officials, shots were fired near Berkey Hall on East Lansing Campus just after 8:15 p.m. A second shooting was reported at IM East.

Community members, both on and off campus, are advised to shelter in place immediately.

“Run, Hide, Fight. Run means evacuate away from danger if you can do so safely, hide means to secure-in-place, and fight means to protect yourself if no other option,” the school wrote in an alert.

My sister's flower shop is an 18 minute walk from Berkey Hall. She should be there with her co-workers working her non-existent butt off for their busiest day of the year. A day for flowers. For love.

Last night we asked what side of the police tape the flower shop sat on.
