I don't care about your growth hacks.
I don't care what time you wake up in the morning.
I give no fucks about how many followers you have today or how many you had 6 months ago.
I don't care about your master-class, your playbook or your chatGPT PDFs.
I couldn't possibly give less of a shit about whether or not you work weekends.
I want to talk to real humans. Who talk like real humans.
The Hustle bro crap is over. It has no place in 2024.

Gonna be playing a Monster of the Week one shot later today. We're all playing as monsters from fiction, so I made a basic playbook for my favorite monster. I might make it look better and add advancement at some point.

The Dispossessed design commentary, cont.
Today I wanted to talk about one of the Playbook Moves for The Dispossessed.
Tumblr media
The whole Playbook emerges from the central metaphor that this whole playbook came from: being an immigrant in a foreign country. Now this comes with a biiiiiiig caveat: I myself am not an immigrant. I am also not trying to portray a specific immigrant experience here, but rather using the lens of a literal alien from another planet to explore what that kind of person might feel like. The ideas in this playbook are also rooted in a number of Asian-American books I read as part of an English course dealing with migration, melancholia, and memory. Some of the books I most highly recommend from that course (not necessarily as inspirations for this, just things that I really enjoyed):
No-No Boy by John Okada
The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri
The Book of Salt by Monique Truong
A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki
All this said, let's return to this Move. The name (as all the names of Moves in this Playbook) comes from an H.G. Wells novel (of The Time Machine and The War of the Worlds fame). Originally, "Bulpington of Blup" was titled "Stranger in a Strange Land" after the Robert Heinlein novel, but it just stuck out too much (for me) from the rest of them. So instead, I combed through Wells' list of novels and found this strange one where an otherwise ordinary man comes to be dominated by some complex of behavior that destabilizes his relationship to the world.
This Move is interesting to me, because it plays on the disconnect between the dominant mode of society (Earth, but specifically Victorian London) and the foreign mode of behavior (the way of life that your alien was brought up in). The Playbook starts with a -1 in Presence (the social skill), meaning that you have a base ~58% chance to fully fail any action based on social skills. By leaning into the strangeness of your alien customs, you can always succeed with a cost, disconcerting upper class Londoners but exposing yourself to their withering regard. Are you willing to gamble that someone will take you seriously when you play their game? Or will you disavow their rules and reap the rewards/suffer the consequences?
This Move also pairs with one of the Masks of the Future (a way to improve roll results and change your character during play):
Tumblr media
Almost all the Masks of the Future in this Playbook involve losing one of your Moves (and you start with all of them) in return for a bump to a stat. This Mask shows your alien losing their strange behaviors/their behaviors being co-opted as amusing to the elite. You have become less strange and offputting to Londoners, but at the cost of being forced into a form more comprehensible and comfortable to them.
My main goal with the design choices in this Playbook is to show the player a variety of paths forward, all with clear(ish) signposting. Don't like feeling on the outside of society? Feel free to use that Mask first chance you get! Enjoy being rewarded for inventing strange customs from your home planet? Never touch that Mask! The design definitely follows a fairly particular (and pretty standard) version of an immigrant experience, but I like it because I see similarities between it and my experience as a queer person. There are choices to be made, compromises that have to be navigated, and options about your uniqueness and character that have to be weighed without any clear correct answers available.

The Iconic Matriarch
Tumblr media
[Art by Kanesha Bryant from Thirsty Sword Lesbians: Advanced Lovers and Lesbians]
The Matriarch in Thirsty Sword Lesbians is one of my artistic prides and joys. I've created lots of comics, short stories and worked on several games. The Matriarch to me is a design stand out. I want to talk about the design of that playbook more specifically sometime but instead I just want to talk about the iconic for the playbook here. The iconic here is an AU version of my OC Jillain Owlnight. Jill originated as a NPC character in a roleplay that was the adoptive mother of one of my partners OCs. I really loved her and so did she. Jillian was a lawyer who did her best to help people, she was a scrapy woman in independent practice and single just doing her best. Still she was wise, she loved magical stuff, was a big fan of birds and was did her best by her new kid.
She recurred in some other roleplays as a mother figure as a staple wink and a nod or as someone's lawyer. Eventually though, she was brought into Love Beyond The Holy Light, which was a webnovel I had been working on for a while as a powerful witch with an affinity for owls, a POV character and the mother of another POV character. This fantasy version of her was probably my most in-depth dive into her as a character. This and the following modern roleplay really finished the refinement of what this character was.
Jillian is a trans woman who lived a really hard life with bad parents, runs away from home and has fend for herself or is taken in by some magical bird, either way she is living a fairly different life than other kids. She gets a lot of skills because she needs to be all around good to survive and the lesbian falls in love with a girl, typically after years there is a sad break up, she goes through a flop era and gets her shit together when there is a kid in need that she had to care for. From there on Jill is a mega mom, she does everything for her kids and tries her best to make the world a better place. Maybe she slips up at one point, sells her morals for the kids safety or comfort but eventually turns around to do right by her kids.
Which brings us to this iconic AU version of Jillian. I wanted a version of her to do something new with less baggage. I think I said to just warrior her up at first but I was asked to provide a bit more detail and I suggested a bit more of a Sci-fiy kind of vibe. Kanesha then used the very little guidance to make this master piece. I don't know what they intended but clearly they took inspiration form the playbook too, where they gave Jillian mob boss vibes since one of the examples for The Matriarch is a mob boss. The amazing details were basically all their idea.
After getting it here is kinda how I picture everything about her working but this is just my headcanon, I hope people take her and do whatever their brains come up with for her. To me this version of Jillian runs a queer gang. Their all about bashing back and smashing the system. She is a very proud mom of her kids wearing stuff they made for her. Each color of bean represents a different kid she has taken under her wing. The eye patch was made by a sweet daughter of hers as well and the bracelets were gifts from her oldest daughter. She rips off the rich and gives back to the queers posing as a CEO or something to explain the luxuries her organization affords people.
Her family mechanic is her right hand in the mob, one of her older kids and her wife. Jillian has Been around from her experience living on the streets and traveling for jobs and warm food. Then she has In The Family due to her crime family being a known force that is not to be fucked with.
Anyway, that was my idea for the iconic here. Have you played The Matriarch, if you have what were they like? Do you have any ideas for one or been in a game with one? Did the Iconic art give you any ideas like it did for me? I'm also just always happy to hear about any TSL OC, let me know in the replies and stuff.

Straight out of Putins playbook;
1) John McCain votes👎 The one vote that keeps Trump from getting what he wants.
2) Trump blames Mitch McConnell
3) Republican Party is dividing more and more
4)Trump starts Twitter rampage. His followers start to galvanize
5) One week later white nationalists march chanting the slogan “Jews will not replace us”.
#5 A strategy taken straight from Putins playbook.
Putin has been using Nazis funded monetarily and militarily by pro Putin oligarchs on the Russian border in Ukraine to sew division and violence amongst Ukrainians.
he spreads propaganda stating that Ukrainian Nazis are out of control and are attacking Russians, who live in Ukraine here by sewing division, and violence
He wants the world to believe that Russia now has a valid excuse to invade Ukraine.

The Remedial is a playbook for Cantrip by @itshipolita, a Belong Outside Belonging game about young witches learning magic.
The Remedial is a student who struggles with magic and is relegated to cleaning up magical messes instead of training in “proper” magic with the other witches. Play to find out how you react in a crisis, how magic can go explosively wrong, and whether you can prove yourself to others.

Bahasa Melayu version here.
Hi! Welcome to my first Tumblr playbook (tutorial+guide). I've noticed that many new Malaysian Simmers don't know or unsure of how to download mods or CC (Custom Content), so I've decided to create a comprehensive tutorial just for all of you ♡. This tutorial isn't just for Malaysian Simmers but for all new Simmers out there (that's why this blog post is bilingual). I love sharing my experiences playing Sims, and I'm here to help you! Follow my socials; I have a support channel for questions, mod and CC finds. I'm also active on TikTok and Tumblr, where I share all sorts of things related to Sims 4.
This tutorial might be a bit long because I'll provide detailed explanations so you won't be left in the dark. At least when you encounter issues, you'll know how to solve them on your own. For beginners, I recommend reading it all because I'll be sharing based on my own experiences, including some tips, hehe.
Tumblr media
♡‧₊˚ What are mods and custom content?
I'm sure you know what mods and custom content (CC) are. Mods enhance gameplay, while CC includes objects, clothing, hair, and more.
Custom content can be divided into two categories: alpha and Maxis Match. What's the difference?
• Alpha -> More realistic and detailed. Uses higher-resolution textures, so it can be quite heavy on your computer if you download a lot.
• Maxis Match -> Matches the Sims game art style, which is somewhat cartoonish.
My preference? I like Maxis Match, but there are times when I accept alpha, like makeup and clothing. But it doesn't matter; it's your game, and everyone has their preferences, right? There's nothing wrong with liking alpha.
♡‧₊˚ Where can you find and download mods and CC?
For beginners, I suggest avoiding skeptical websites to prevent viruses. I have my finds here, and I'm active on Pinterest too. I'm only sometimes active on Tumblr for finds, but I'm very active on Pinterest because I love window shopping there. Other trustworthy websites include Curseforge (though there aren't many choices), The Sims Resources (lots of ads lol) (TSR is easy for finding alpha CC), ModTheSims (lots of mods), or go directly to the Patreon/Tumblr creators themselves.
My favorite way to find CC and mods is through Tumblr and Pinterest. They're perfect for discovering underrated CC and mods and for finding amazing custom content creators who might not get enough recognition.
Tumblr media
I also use SimFileShare to upload my merch designs. You can download base game recolors here.
Tumblr media
Alright, now let me tell you about the types of mod files. Beginners should know this because if you don't place them in the right folder, they won't appear in the game.
Custom content and small mods are usually .package files. There are also .script files for scripted mods. But it's different if you're downloading tray files (houses or sims). I have a tutorial on that on another blog post here (not updated yet).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, we've covered mods and CC. It's time to download and add them to the game. Remember! Download from trusted sources only. If you want to download from other sources, you're on your own, okay?
♡‧₊˚ Where is the mods folder?
The mods folder is automatically generated by the game, so you don't need to create it yourself.
Tumblr media
To download mods, just click download and wait for it to finish. If the file is in .package format, drag and drop it into your mods folder. It's the same for .script files, but script files are a bit sensitive; they can't be more than one folder deep. If they are, the game won't recognize them.
What if the file you downloaded is in a ZIP file format? You'll need WINRAR software to extract the file into your mods folder.
We're almost there! Lastly, go into the game > Game options > Others > Check "Enable Custom Content and Mods" AND "Script Mods Allowed." Both of them need to be checked. In this image, there's only one arrow lol. (Image taken from EA Help)
Tumblr media
Restart the game. A pop-up will appear. If you see the names of your mods or CC in there, it means congratulations, you've successfully installed them!
If the game updates, a "Mods Disabled" pop-up will appear. Just follow the steps again because when the game updates, it automatically disables those settings, so don't worry if you think your mods disappeared, they didn't.
Tumblr media
When downloading CC and mods, make sure to read what the creator says. Sometimes there are requirements, like needing certain packs or downloading a mesh, and more. Also, read the comments; someone might mention if the mods or CC are broken. If they're broken, it's better to avoid downloading.
Here's another example: when reading the creator's description, sometimes you'll see "high poly." High poly means the CC is more detailed and uses a higher number of polygons (for example, textured hair and other alpha CC). For those with non-high-end PCs, remember that downloading a lot of high poly CC can impact your game's performance. Your game might lag, etc.
For those who like or want to recolor certain CC, read the creator's terms of condition (TOU) first. Some creators don't allow recoloring, and some do but with restrictions, like not including the mesh, among other things.
Don't get too excited about downloading a bulk of CC all at once, hahaha. I suggest downloading a bit at a time or keeping track (write the names on a piece of paper) and check in the game first to make sure everything is okay. Also, check if the newly downloaded CC or mods are in the game. If they're not but you've installed them correctly, just delete the file. It'll save space in the long run. If your game breaks, that means some of the mods or CC you've just downloaded need to be filtered out and removed. It can be difficult to detect issues when you download everything all at once.
I share how to manage mods here (not updated yet). I highly recommend doing this mods managing process before you proceed to download a lot of mods and CC. It'll make it easier to detect any issues.
I also share how to detect broken mods here (not updated yet).
Tumblr media
If you need support, feel free to join my Discord server (Sims 4 Malaysia). Here, I've set up a support channel where you can ask questions, share your Sims and gameplay pictures, and chat with other simmers. I also post sneak peeks and summaries for upcoming playbooks in the playbook channel. Even if you're not Malaysian, you're welcome to join if you want!
Okay, that's all. I hope you're all doing well. Remember, downloading these files is at your own risk. I'm just here to share how to do it. Thanks to those of you who read all the way to the end! If you find this tutorial helpful, feel free to spread the words!
