Herschel Walker has been accused of committing "election fraud" following reports he received a primary residence tax exemption for his home in Dallas, Texas, whilst running for the Senate in Georgia.
Walker faces Democratic incumbent Raphael Warnock in a runoff election on December 6, after neither candidate won an absolute majority of the vote in the initial poll on November 8.
Analysis of tax records by CNN showed Walker got a homestead tax exemption for a property in Dallas this year, saving him around $1,500.
Under Texan law the exemption is only valid on a person's "principal residence."
This was claimed despite Walker registering to vote in Georgia in 2021, ahead of his Senate bid.
According to the 2020 Georgia code, residence of the state can be rescinded if an individual moves to another state "with the intention of making it such person's residence."
It adds: "If a person removes to another state with the intention of remaining there an indefinite time and making such state such person's place of residence, such person shall be considered to have lost such person's residence in this state."
Arguably by listing a property in Dallas as his "principal residence" Walker made the property his "place of residence" under Georgia state law.
Speaking to CNN a tax official from Tarrant County, where Walker's Dallas home is located, confirmed the former NFL running back claimed a principal residence tax exemption for the property in both 2021 and 2022.
Newsweek has approached Walker for comment regarding the allegations.

polling places opened late so the county said they could stay open until 8pm instead of 7pm, and then Texas SCOTUS blocked that. these numbers make the reason why they did obvious

It’s awesome that young people in Texas are registering to vote in droves.
A new analysis from political data and polling firm TargetSmart found that while Texas’ new voter registrants are evenly split between men and women, they are younger and more Democratic than before the June ruling.
“It’s not that we’re not seeing a surge from women but that in Texas, we’re somewhat uniquely also seeing a surge from men, particularly younger, more progressive men, who are matching the surge from women,” said CEO Tom Bonier, whose firm works with Democratic and progressive candidates.
“I would expect to see that trend develop more in other states as we get closer to the election, but it was interesting to see Texas as first in that sense.”
In turnout elections, people really need to turn out.
Kansas had a record turnout for its August primary when there was a radical anti-abortion measure on the ballot. Because of that enormous turnout, abortion remains legal in The Sunflower State.
The state’s young voters — defined as those under age 25 — are also leaning more blue, the analysis found. Democrats now make up 47 percent of young Texas voters, up from 34 percent. The Republican share has remained the same at just under 30 percent.
The only way to get rid of semi-fascist Trump Republicans is by voting Democratic. Wasting votes on dipshit third parties who have ZERO chance of winning is a bizarre act of futility.
Voting Democratic is the only way to protect abortion. Be wary of Trump Republican candidates who have been cleansing their websites of their fanatical opposition to abortion. They got to be GOP candidates in the first place because they had to jump through the ideological flaming hoops of extremist anti-abortion groups.
Whether there’s a specific ballot measure or not, abortion is still on the ballot in every state.

And to be able to vote, you need to register. If you’ve moved (even just two doors away) you need to re-register or amend your old registration. Address is key to registration.

Republican Rep. Liz Cheney said Saturday that she would be willing to campaign for Democrats as she criticized her party's acceptance of candidates who deny the results of the 2020 election.
“Yes,” Cheney, of Wyoming, said simply when asked whether she’d be willing to stump for Democrats — the first time she has said so explicitly.
Cheney made the remark in a discussion at the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin while talking about Arizona gubernatorial candidate and election denier Kari Lake.
Cheney, who has been a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump, said “partisanship has to have a limit” and mentioned Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, who has said he will campaign for Lake.
"He’s demonstrated that he’s somebody who has not bought into the toxin of Donald Trump — but he campaigned recently for Kari Lake, who’s an election denier, who is dangerous,” Cheney said.
"That’s the kind of thing we cannot see in our party. We cannot see an accommodation like that, and I think it’s very important that we be clear about that,” Cheney said.
Asked specifically whether she would campaign for Katie Hobbs — Lake’s Democratic opponent — Cheney said, “I am going to do everything I can to make sure that Kari Lake is not elected.”
Cheney is on her way out of Congress after she lost the Republican primary to a Trump-backed challenger in August.
Youngkin defended campaigning for Lake at the Texas Tribune Festival on Friday. “I am comfortable supporting Republican candidates,” he said. “And we don’t agree on everything. I have said that I firmly believe that Joe Biden was elected President.”
Cheney declined Saturday to offer many details about her own plans, including whether she will run for President.
She also did not disclose much about plans of the House Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, of which she is one of two Republican members.
The House Committee is set to return Wednesday for its latest hearing.
Cheney did say that she does not think the Committee's hearings will conclude this week.
Chairman Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., said last week that unless something else develops it will be the last, “but it’s not in stone, because things happen.”
“We don’t anticipate that it will be the last hearing,” Cheney said.
