Should I start posting WIPs here? They’d probably be few and far in-between and just like. Writing stuff (or non-WIP posts of headcanons that don’t really lead into anything else). But I’d still like to talk here a little more often regardless

this post hereby marks maggie rodriguez’s legal name being changed to mariposa!! it’s the name he chose when he transitioned (something something metamorphosis blah blah blah migration shhhhh flight). the rest of what i had to say here wasn’t important
[original long version under cut shddhdf]
changing mars/maggie’s full name to mariposa because i want to. like it was kind of implied that his full name was margarita or maybe possibly margaret or marguerite like. one of those names. but it’s not a dead name and maggie would not name himself margarita or margaret like marguerite is possible maybe i guess like if it were me there’s definitely a possibility that i could have named myself that if i was transitioning with more knowledge of like. presentation doesn’t have to equal identity and all that? so yeah maggie could’ve named himself marguerite maybe but that would imply that he’s as invested in french as i am and i think he’s a lot more of a polyglot like he definitely speaks french and spanish and arabic (one of the things true of him that aren’t true of me. i only speak french and kinda sorta spanish) if not more languages, so i don’t think the french name would at all make sense to be the one that prevails. anyway margarita is the name of too many of my extended family and also i ashamedly must say mostly just reminds me of alcohol. so none of the marg names were working and in conclusion mariposa is a pretty rad name. and one of my way-back-when original oc’s was named mariposa vasquez so it even has a personal background for me. and real arthur-r fans know that maggie is a transmutation of my old character freddie rodriguez so taking another of my old characters names is not a surprising idea. and in conclusion now there gets to be butterfly imagery too and isn’t that great? im thinking monarchs.
#other things about mars that i might have mentioned or i might’ve forgot include that he never left maryland his whole story happens there#depending on how my life goes i might send him out to nebraska for college but at least his whole childhood is spent out there#but no i think i goes to the university of maryland how i would be trying to if i could get in state tuition#(said as if im academically good enough to go to umd but like. maggie is very smart okay)#anyway mars is the name he goes by mariposa is the name he legally changed it to and maggie is a very exclusive nickname i think#it’s just that me and maggie are besties so i’m allowed to. shdhdf. the point is he doesn’t introduce himself as maggie or even mariposa#but if someone were to care enough to ask and also just professionally. mariposa would be his answer#or like on news reports and such. so just. keep that in mind shdhdf#anyway this is a classic arthur ramble and not meant to be content im just talking shdhdf#and yeah he lives in maryland and interns at some sort of historical center i haven’t decided where exactly yet#honestly it could be the friggin library of congress this guy is living within an hour of the nations capital#anyway hi i started drafting this like as soon as i woke up and now im soon to leave home. so i should probably post it#sooner rather than later. anyway song recommendation cause it’s playing right now: drink by the happy fits. or anything off awfully apeelin#and i hope everybody is doing okay#me. my post. mine.#delete later#or abridge later

A Pirates Life For Me
Pairings: father Killian Jones x child/teen!reader
Imagine: what it would be like to be Killian Jones child
Warnings: none really, mostly fluff, and Killian Jones being the best father ever, I guess there’s some spoilers for those who haven’t watched all seasons I guess, mention of when he died, NOT proofread yet
A/N back to writing ya’ll (hopefully), thought I’d start it of easy with some headcanons, so a few other will come out too but this is the first because recently I’ve been obsessing over Killian again along with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hunter (from tbb)
Side note half of this got deleted and couldn’t really remember what I wrote so it’s definitely not as good as the first draft
Tumblr media
First things first you were raised on the Jolly Roger, you would most probably grow up as a pirate, and when old enough you’d help him fighting against the other pirates that would attack you at times
I’m sorry but you’re gonna have to deal with wearing dark colored clothes, he doesn’t do light color therefore neither do you at least until you’re old enough to decide for yourself what clothes you want
You’d beg Killian to buy you the biggest hat ever as you read somewhere that pirates has hats, he never bought you that hat… he did steal a tiny hat that fit you perfectly though…
He was scared to death that he would be like his own father, but don’t worry he’s both like that he’s the best and he’d never leave you like that
Your initials are written beside the wheel (you know where he wrote with his hook for Bae/Neal)
Things you carved into the ship as a kid can still be seen in the most random places
He childproofed the ship, put child locks on nearly every cabinet not knowing if it was child appropriate things in them as the crew would put their things in random places, he did not find the thought of you finding a knife, sword, or gun and accidentally hurt yourself very comforting
Adopted child, biological child, doesn’t matter he loves you the same.
Depending on when you were born you might of watched The Dark One rip the heart out of your father’s lover
One of many traumatic events
Killian values you more than anything else, if he had to choose between revenge or you, he’d always choose you, he’d do anything for you even if it meant him dying
He still knows how to say no to things though
He made a mental list in his head on things he would teach you
1. How to sail
2. How to navigate with stars
3. Sword fighting
4. How to survive on Neverland (just in case Pan decided to kidnap you or something to mess with him)
5. How to escape from Neverland
6. What plants are poisonous or not
7. Do not make deals with the dark one
And then the list goes on and on, he would want to teach you everything he knows about everything really, he just doesn’t want you to make the same mistakes he did, or to end up being a villain as he wants you to get your happy ending
Somewhere along the road you got dragged into wanting to help your father get revenge, nearly succeeded in multiple occasions, but as it turns out villains don’t really get their revenge
You once made the crew find a hook and clothes similar to Killian’s and later on that day you’d run up to Killian, hand clutching a hook and act as if you were the captain of the ship, imitating your father (with a really bad “adult” voice). He would let out a wide smile, eyes twinkling and a soft gaze as he looked down at you trying to reach the wheel. He’d eventually pick you up and let you steer the destination as he helped you turn the wheel the other way than he had set the course too. This was also the first time he taught you how to sail. Or somewhat, it wasn’t like you took much of the information in as you soon got bored and went to watch over the railing at the crashing waves.
Btw I’m tired of fics where Captain Hooks child likes Peter Pan, why because a parents ideals usually sets with the child, meaning you’d probably hate Peter Pan and Rumplestiltskin as much as your father does
He would tell you stories of his older brother and how he was a hero and he wished you’d met him, you would eventually in hell though later as you went to rescue your father so that’s fine, turns out he wasn’t the hero your father made him out to be, but that’s fine you only need one hero and that’s your dad
He would also tell you stories of his adventures, it made for quite the long entertaining tales as he tucked you into bed, kissing your forehead before continuing his story which he altered to be a bit more child friendly and a bit more dramatic
He lets you have some of his clothes when he’s going away for a long time because he knows you’ll miss him
He lets you wear his jackets/coats, you freezing he’s already put his jacket/coat over you, even if they’re too big for you , he loves how adorable you look in it as he’s reminded that you’re still just a child and he doesn’t want you to grow up
He’d try to teach you how to paint, might succeed might not still he loves the bonding time he’s good at painting in any universe you can’t tell me otherwise
He hates seeing you hurt
If you get hurt on a raid he’d made sure whoever hurt you would suffer, you want him kiss the injury better, he’d do so in a heartbeat even if it meant his reputation would falter slightly
He starts dating someone else (Emma) he’d make sure that person treated you right, if not he’d dump said person
If he founds out you like someone he wouldn’t be overprotective, he’d still be protective but he’d mostly be supportive. He’d tease you about it until it became annoying, he’d encourage you and give you advice (even if most of his advice failed)and if it failed he’d be there to comfort you through it all
You’d blame Emma for turning Killian into a dark one and you’d blame Emma for Killian’s death
When you rescued Killian from hell he promised you he’d never die again if not of old age and that he’d never take of his good luck ring ever again as you thought he jinxed it by giving it to Emma
You were glad for his sake when he married Emma just because you saw your father happy with someone else again and not just grieving and seeking revenge for his ex lover
He hugs surprisingly great, he’s like your human sized pirate teddy bear
He misses the times when you would come into his room late at night after a nightmare and crawl under the covers and cuddle close to him, not because you had a nightmare but because he liked that you knew you would always be safe with him
He would hate that you’d have nightmares after his death and you no matter what age you are in would sometimes go into his room to make sure he was still alive and maybe even sleep beside him, he’d wake up to you sprawled out over the whole bed clutching his side tightly as if you were afraid he’d disappear
Will make sure you get your happy ending
He’s just father material it’s as simple as that (just look at Nook, love Nook though but original Hook is the best)

Hiiiiiiiii hdisjxksjdj I have 2 ideas for the fic writing request! Feel free to choose whichever one you'd like to do or both! 💝💝💝 love youuu
1: Steve's parents meet his new friends and are shocked at how happy he is. + they see that Steve and his friends all wear a similar-style friendship bracelet made by the kids.
2: platonic stobin with the song lyric (brother by Kodaline: I took out the chorus bc it doesn't match here):
When we were young we were the ones
The kings and queens oh yeah, we ruled the world
We smoked cigarettes, man, no regrets
Wish I could relive every single word
We've taken different paths
And travelled different roads
I know we'll always end up on the same one when we're old
And when you're in the trenches
And you're under fire I will cover you
If I was dying on my knees
You would be the one to rescue me
And if you were drowned at sea
I'd give you my lungs so you could breathe
we'll go deeper than the ink
Beneath the skin of our tattoos
Though we don't share the same blood
You're my brother and I love you that's the truth
We're living different lives
Heaven only knows
If we'll make it back with all our fingers and our toes
Five years, twenty years, come back
It will always be the same
ANOTHA ONE (BUT ACTUALLY TWO)! This first one for some reason got me fucked up. I wrote so much, then 75% of the way through, I hated it and deleted it and started over. The second one was a lot easier, but I did get a little carried away (could have gotten MORE carried away if I didn't have a tiny bit of self control left). ANYWAYS YAY FOR FINISHING ONE OF MY CLASSES WITH A 94 AND BEING ABLE TO POST THESE! LOTS OF LOVE BABEYYYY - Mickala ❤️
------------------------------------------
PROMPT 1
“Where is it?”
Steve was panicking.
Okay, panicking might be dramatic.
It was just a bracelet.
But it wasn’t just a bracelet, actually.
El made them for everyone. They all matched, but she’d added everyone’s initials to theirs so it was still special for each of them.
When she gave Steve his, he hid in the bathroom and cried.
Despite being the King for years, he’d never had any friends like the kids and Robin.
Eddie either, but he’d already passed the line of “friends” into “love of his life”, so he didn’t count.
So when he looked down while he was cooking and realized it wasn’t wrapped around his wrist the way it had been for months, he started to worry.
When he couldn’t find it in the kitchen or the path from the kitchen to the car or the car itself or his bedroom or his bathroom, he started to feel a weight settle in his chest.
He wouldn’t give up yet though. He’d gone outside to check the chemicals in the pool this morning, maybe it had fallen off there.
Just when he was about to go look, he heard a car door slam. Then another one. Then keys at the front door.
Of all the times for his parents to decide they live here, they choose now? When he’d abandoned the casserole he was making on the counter and turned most of the place upside down in the last hour looking for his bracelet?
He took a deep breath, ready to try to brush aside the panic to make sure they didn’t find his behavior unacceptable or suspicious.
“Oh good. You’re home.”
Anne Harrington’s voice used to make Steve relax. She wasn’t ever a great mother, but she was at least here until he hit middle school. Her presence, her voice usually made his dad remain calm.
But when she started going away with his dad, her voice became a dreaded sound.
Instead of it easing the tension he held in his back and jaw, it caused the tension to arrive faster.
Richard Harrington was the root cause of all of that tension, though.
“What’s going on in here?”
Steve tried to make himself appear smaller, that’s what his dad liked from him, and that’s what kept him safe.
“You caught me as I was making dinner. I haven’t been able to clean up yet.”
“Is that a casserole?”
Anne was walking up to the counter, peering down at the casserole dish as she spoke.
“Yes. I’m having friends over later.”
He was at least. Before his parents made a surprise visit.
Just as he checked the clock to see if he had time to call everyone to cancel, he heard more car doors.
Fuck, how late was it?
6:30. Shit.
Of course the one time Eddie gets everyone here on time is the one time his parents decide to show up.
El had joined this campaign at the insistence of Eddie and Will, so he knew she’d notice his bracelet was missing.
He couldn’t let her close enough to see.
No hug hello. No sitting in the room while they played. No hugging goodbye.
He could do that.
El barged in the house first, excitement palpable before she even made it into the kitchen.
“Who the hell is this?”
The voices of the others could be heard walking through the door as El froze with wide eyes.
“Mom, Dad, this is El. She’s Chief Hopper’s daughter? I babysat her.”
They looked at him like he’d grown three heads.
“Steve! Tell Dustin that I’m supposed to be the fun parent!”
Steve’s face paled. Eddie.
Every possible reaction his parents could have ran through Steve’s mind as he actually did start to panic.
Suddenly, everyone from Hellfire was standing in his kitchen. With his parents.
And an uncooked casserole.
He reached for the bracelet on his wrist, then remembered he lost it, and then he felt the sting of tears in his eyes. He couldn’t cry in front of his parents.
He walked out of the room, ignoring the confused stares and murmurs from everyone, including his mother.
He walked up the stairs, to his bedroom, then fell on his bed.
No tears fell, but they were there, waiting. For what, he didn’t know.
He could hear footsteps outside of his room. A pause. A gentle knock.
“Steve?”
His mother.
She opened the door slowly, probably just as nervous as he suddenly was.
“Can I come in?”
“Sure,” he managed to choke out.
His mom sat on the edge of the bed, leaving enough space between them that he couldn’t feel any warmth from her, which is how it’s always been.
“We probably should have called.”
It wasn’t an apology, just a statement. More for her than him since she was feeling just as awkward about this as he was.
“Those kids are the ones you babysat?”
“Yeah.”
“They’ve gotten quite big, haven’t they?”
Steve had no idea what she was doing, but he could answer her questions.
“Yeah. Don’t really need me anymore.”
“They’re here, though.”
“I’ll send them home,” Steve started to get up, but his mom’s hand on his shoulder kept him from standing.
“Don’t. We just dropped by to grab a few things. We have a flight in a few hours.”
Ah. So they weren’t staying. If he hadn’t been home when they got here, he probably never would have even known they were here.
For some reason, that hurt. Even after all these years, all these times being left alone.
“They must really love you.”
Her voice sounded different, shaky. Like she was actually trying to show an emotion other than passiveness or disappointment.
She was holding something, he could see her rubbing her fingers along whatever it was.
And then he caught the bright pink.
His bracelet.
“Where did you find that?”
“It was on the ground by the front door. Your father didn’t see it, but I picked it up. Thought it may have belonged to a girl you brought home. Then I saw what all those kids were wearing and saw your initials on it.” She handed him the bracelet and he felt relief wash over him. “You’re lucky to have them.”
He looked at her. Her lips wobbling, her eyes watery, like she was actually happy for him, or maybe a little sad about something else.
Regret. That’s what that look was.
“I wish I had known that you had so many people who love you. I wish I had been here to see you find happiness. You didn’t have any for so long.”
She’d seen it then. She’d seen the way he had to fight loneliness despite being surrounded by people at school. She’d seen the way his face dropped every time they told him they were going on another business trip, how he started to hate that they even bothered to come home at all. She’d seen the way he filled his home with idiot teenagers who barely respected him or the house, who just wanted a place to drink away from their parent’s prying eyes.
She’d seen it and let him feel that hurt anyway.
She still didn’t say she was sorry.
But he thought about if he even wanted that now. If he could even believe it or accept it coming from her.
Probably not.
He took the bracelet from her and wrapped it around his wrist, tightening the string until it was snug.
“I didn’t have anyone for so long because you didn’t seem to think I needed anyone. I don’t know who I would be without them. They’ve done more for me than you or dad ever have, and that’s why I’m the happiest I’ve ever been,” Steve sighed. It was exhausting that he even had to say this. “You’re right, though. I am lucky to be loved by them. This bracelet is just one of the physical reminders of that. Thanks for finding it.”
A single tear fell from her eyes, but Steve wasn’t going to let himself feel bad. She could have done this years ago when he needed it most.
Now he had those kids downstairs. He had Eddie. He had Robin. Joyce and Hopper. Claudia. Even the Wheelers.
Suddenly, Eddie was standing in his door, a panicked look on his face.
“Uh, sorry to interrupt.” He wasn’t. “You may need to come downstairs. Erica’s kind of doing that thing she does with your dad.”
Steve’s eyes widened while his mom just looked confused.
Then he heard it.
He jumped up and ran down the stairs, Eddie close on his heels.
“...and another thing! This house isn’t even decorated nicely! You have all this money, right? Why don’t you spend it on things that actually look good? Or a couch that’s actually comfy. How am I supposed to sleep on a piece of plywood with itchy fabric on it? Have you ever tried to sleep on that couch? Probably not since you can’t be bothered to come home.”
Steve put his hand on Erica’s shoulder while he glanced over at his father’s red face. He obviously wasn’t going to do anything to a child, but he didn’t want to take any risks, not with the kids he loved so much.
“Alright, everyone in the dining room! Get your game setup while I put the casserole in the oven.”
Erica glared up at him, but relented when everyone started moving towards the dining room.
Eddie watched as she left too, but he remained next to Steve.
Steve turned to face his father, who was certainly going to have a lot to say to him, but would probably wait until he was alone.
“The neighbor told me you had kids coming and going from here all the time, but I thought they were losing it. Especially when they said that the Munson van was parked in the driveway most nights. I guess they aren’t losing it, after all.”
His tone was outwardly calm, but Steve was well-versed in the silent rage boiling underneath.
He was also well-versed in how his father refused to make their family look bad, even if it was just a bunch of kids.
“They needed a place to play their game. I have plenty of room. It keeps them out of trouble and happy. I get to have people in the house. It’s a win win.”
Steve wasn’t usually this bold with his father, but he knew he was fine with Eddie next to him and his family in the next room.
His dad grunted and looked down at the bracelet wrapped around Steve’s wrist, and the matching one wrapped around Eddie’s.
Steve could feel his brain trying to figure everything out. He didn’t say anything to help.
“I’m sure your mother mentioned we’re just grabbing some things and leaving,” Richard finally said.
“She did.”
“Make sure the house is clean before we get back.”
“Which will be…?”
“Within the next few weeks.”
“Sure.”
They weren’t gonna be back in a few weeks. They probably wouldn’t be back for months, if ever.
Steve noticed that they barely had any of their personal belongings left in the house. He noticed that they had been slowly moving out of the house since his senior year of high school. He noticed that they rarely got mail delivered anymore, and that they didn’t send the gardener or pool cleaner by unless they were coming home.
He knew they had another house in upstate New York, one he’d never even been to and only found out about because his dad’s secretary mentioned it the last time he’d called looking for them.
He figured if they were coming back in a few weeks, it would probably be to tell him they were selling this house and he had to leave.
Which was fine.
He looked down at his bracelet as his dad left the kitchen, tugging on the end of it to make it even tighter.
He had people who would help him if he got kicked out. He had family.
-------------------------------------------------------
PROMPT 2
In 1987, Robin Buckley leaves for college.
They knew it was coming, her gap year truly could only be a year, after all.
Steve tried to put on a brave face.
He was proud of her, of course. She got into Purdue on one of the hardest academic scholarships to get. They’d let her, even encouraged her, to take the gap year, postponing her scholarship for her new start date.
She was leaving tomorrow and Steve didn’t know how to say goodbye.
Eddie was helping with some of the last minute packing she had to do, but he was trying to stay out of their way, give them time and space to enjoy what time they had left.
Suddenly, Steve knew what he needed to do.
“Eds?”
“Hm?”
“You’ve got supplies for tattoos right?”
“Tattoos, plural? Going from none to multiple in one go may not be a great idea, sweetheart.”
Robin was watching their interaction with curious eyes, but wasn’t saying anything.
“No, just one for me. But maybe one for Robin too?” He pointed the question at her, giving her a small smile.
“What? A tattoo? Now?”
“If you want. Just something small for us to have before you go.”
Maybe it was a stupid idea.
It’s not like she was leaving the damn country. He’d probably see her once a month at least.
But he was scared that she’d get to college and find a lot of smart friends who could keep up with her and find fewer reasons to visit here, and then Steve wouldn’t be able to convince her to stick around and he’d be alone.
A tattoo would at least ensure she was thinking of him, too.
“What would we get?”
“What about an ice cream cone?”
“Or a scoop?”
Eddie laughed. “You really want me to tattoo ice cream scoops on your bodies? Forever? You know these are permanent.”
Steve and Robin giggled together and nodded.
So it was settled.
They finished what they had to, waving a quick goodbye to Robin’s parents and letting them know she’d be back late. They reminded her they were heading out early in the morning and she ignored them. When they got to Eddie’s trailer, the nerves sunk in for both of them. Not enough to avoid getting the tattoos, but enough to make them hold hands while Eddie prepped the tattoo gun and ink for Steve.
“Alright, where do you want it big boy?”
He pointed to his ankle and looked at Robin, who nodded back at him in agreement.
So Eddie began.
Steve flinched at the first few lines in his skin, but got used to it quickly.
Robin held his hand and watched, talking to him about random things that she thought of that they could do when he visited her on campus.
Eddie finished quickly, smiling up at them both.
When he cleaned up and set up the new needle and ink for Robin, Steve held her hand and talked about all the things he was excited for her to do when she left. He even joked that she’d probably find a girlfriend in her Women’s Studies course.
“I mean that class is just gonna be a bunch of queer women, you better make a move.”
“You don’t know that!” she exclaimed while rolling her eyes.
When Robin’s tattoo was done, they smiled at each other. Robin kissed Eddie’s cheek in thanks and Steve kissed his lips, whispering a quiet thanks against them.
Even if Robin moved on, they’d always have this.
—-------
In 1991, shortly after Robin managed to graduate from school, Steve and Eddie had a massive fight.
They’d never had one before, not like this.
Not one that led to Eddie walking out and staying with Wayne.
Steve’s first call was to Wayne, making sure Eddie was safe.
His second call was to Robin, begging her to come stay with him for a few days so he wouldn’t have to be alone.
He hadn’t been alone in his house since the fall of 1986 and it was suddenly bigger and quieter than ever.
She quickly drove to him, knowing he wouldn’t have asked if he wasn’t struggling.
When she arrived, Steve sobbed into her shoulder for hours, not even saying anything, not really able to. She let him, didn’t offer any words of comfort, just running her hands through his hair and making sure he kept breathing in and out.
Eventually, she asked.
“I thought you guys were doing great. What happened?”
Steve shrugged, but he knew. He knew that for a few weeks now Eddie had been working a lot more, that Steve had been working a lot more, both of them trying to save money to buy a house that wasn’t a constant reminder of everything bad in their lives. He knew that neither of them were giving each other the attention they deserved. He knew the tiny little snippy comments they both were giving each other kept adding up into a form of resentment he didn’t think either of them could’ve been capable of. He knew when he missed their date because he forgot to call when he found out about the overtime he was scheduled for, it would lead to a pissed off Eddie.
“We’re just under a lot of stress right now.”
“Worse than the literal end of the world?”
“No. Just. Real life is kind of harder sometimes. Is that crazy to think?”
“I guess not. But you guys love each other more than anything. This is just a bump, right?”
“I dunno. He’s staying with Wayne for a bit.”
“How long is a bit?”
“I don’t know, he didn’t say. Wayne said he’s barely seen him.”
“Maybe he just needs to cool off. Bet he’ll be back tomorrow.”
But he wasn’t. He wasn’t back that week at all. Robin had to go back to campus to pack before they locked her out permanently, so he was left to work and come home to an empty house.
It sucked, point blank.
But Wayne called him every night before he left for work, and Steve knew that at least Eddie was safe, still going to work, still eating.
The day Robin was supposed to be back, Eddie showed up. He let himself in, which was a good sign. He sat down next to Steve on the couch, another good sign. He sighed, not a great sign, but maybe not a bad one.
He looked at Steve with tears in his eyes.
“I wanna come home.”
Steve let out a sob and folded into Eddie’s chest, Eddie wrapping his arms around him and kissing the top of his head.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”
“Sh. I’m sorry too, Stevie.”
When Robin arrived, she saw them asleep on the couch, thankfully fully dressed, and smiled to herself. She made her way up to the guest room that was basically hers and went to sleep, content with knowing that she’d gotten Steve through.
—--------
In 1997, Robin lands her dream job offer. Things move quickly. She’s supposed to fly to Italy in three days, but she’s stuck on how to tell Steve.
Steve and Eddie moved to Boston when she did, insisting that they wanted to live a city life. Now that the kids were all gone, they had no reason to stay in Hawkins.
They sold the Harrington mansion, then their own home, and found a nice two bedroom apartment on the outskirts of the city. Steve worked in a bakery, so his hours were a bit all over the place depending on the season. Eddie worked as a sound mixer at a record label, which wasn’t his dream job, but close enough that he was happy.
Robin had been working as a tutor for years, enjoying the one on one with teenagers who needed the extra help in their high school foreign language classes. It didn’t pay much, but it was enough.
But she applied to be a teacher, part of a study abroad project for prospective Boston University students that reached 24 different countries. She didn’t really expect to get it, her experience and education level not quite where most of the other applicants were.
But she’d impressed the interviewers with her knowledge of multiple languages, not just fluency in one. They expressed immediate interest and asked her which country she’d prefer.
She told them she preferred Italy, but hadn’t expected to get her first choice.
She did.
And now she had to tell Steve she was leaving the country for at least a year.
She called Eddie first to warn him. He was excited for her, of course, but nervous about how Steve would react.
They frequently joked that she was the side chick in their relationship because Steve would cancel plans just to hang out with Robin. Even as grown adults with grown adult responsibilities, Eddie had to remind them to get some sleep during sleepovers like they were teenagers.
He thought it was adorable.
He told her to come over for dinner, she could talk to him then and he would be there as backup.
So she did.
And it went okay at first. Steve was so excited for her, he kept talking about how she could send real Italian chocolate like he got on a vacation with his parents when he was young.
But then it seemed to slowly sink in what this meant.
No more random meetups in the city for coffee or drinks, no more dinners here at their apartment, calls would have to be scheduled in advance because of the time difference. No hugs or cuddling for a year.
“Maybe we could try to come visit in a few months?” He looked at Eddie hopefully.
“Maybe, sweetheart,” Eddie responded with a small smile.
He knew their finances weren’t bad, but a trip to Italy certainly wasn’t something they were prepared for. Plus, taking that much time off of work would be difficult. They didn’t have another sound mixer right now, which meant if he missed more than a day or two, they’d pretty much have to close up shop.
“I mean, I’m sure with what they’re paying me, I could probably come visit during the Christmas break,” Robin added, though she didn’t sound so sure.
Eddie squeezed Steve’s knee, sensing the tears he was trying to hold back.
“We’ve got time to figure it out.”
Nothing got planned for a while though, because Robin was busier than expected.
She worked six days a week, and on the seventh day, she was usually still grading papers or setting up meetings with the other teachers in the program.
Steve felt like he was fighting constantly for her attention, which wasn’t fair to think because she was just doing her job.
Eddie knew he was getting into a depressive episode about a month in.
He called Robin while Steve was asleep, coming up with a plan to get him out of it before it got bad.
“I’ve got enough money for the flight, but we need somewhere to stay. I think I can swing five days off for both of us if I tell his boss what’s going on. But I can’t do it for at least a month.”
“Okay, just stay with me. I have a pull out couch. My neighbor brings me so much food all the time, I’m sure she’ll wanna feed you both too. I still have to work, but you can explore while I do. Have you guys even taken a real vacation before?”
“Does visiting Dustin count?”
“No.”
“Then, no.”
The plan was in place. Steve remained sad, but Robin tried to call as often as she could.
But almost exactly one month later, Steve came home to Eddie packing luggage. His heart stopped for a moment.
“What are you doing?”
Eddie smiled at him, walking over to wrap his arms around him.
“Packing for our trip.”
“What trip?”
“To Italy.”
Steve’s heart started racing.
“What?”
“Gotta get you to see your girl, don’t I? She’s got a couch with our name on it.”
Steve cried for the next hour, leaving wet kisses on Eddie’s cheeks and lips as he helped pack.
When they arrived in Italy, Robin was at the airport holding the chocolates Steve so desperately wanted, but he didn’t care about in that moment.
He was back with his platonic soulmate.
—------
Being engaged wasn’t that important to Steve or Eddie. They couldn’t legally get married anyway, so what was the point of the whole song and dance of asking and wearing a ring?
They’d belonged to each other for so long, it wasn’t necessary.
But in 2003, Eddie changed his mind.
It happened because Robin said something about how marriage equality was looking more likely, like maybe she could actually marry her girlfriend who followed her back from Italy.
And Eddie couldn’t have Robin get engaged before him.
So he found a ring, just a simple gold band with a single diamond. He got it engraved to say “scar on my heart” which was the title of the first song Eddie wrote about Steve for Steve.
He made plans. He called the kids and made them swear not to say anything.
He called Robin and asked if she could be there.
But he should have known Robin couldn’t keep a secret.
“I’m just so excited!”
“For what? It’s just ice cream at the park,” Steve said curiously.
“It’s not just ice cream! It’s a big moment!”
And then she realized what she said. Eddie glared at her.
“What’s the big moment?”
Eddie sighed. He could just say Robin was being dramatic, but Steve wouldn’t buy it, not with the way she looked guilty of murder now.
“I have something to ask you.”
Maybe Steve would leave it.
“What is it? Why does Robin need to be there? Just ask me now.”
Guess not.
“Since I can never have plans that work, fine.” Eddie pulled the box out of his pocket, sending one more glare at Robin, who already had tears in her eyes. He started to drop to one knee but felt hands on his arms.
“Wait! Are you proposing to me?”
“Uh. Trying to, yes.”
Steve started laughing. Not really the reaction he was hoping for.
Then, he pulled a box from his pocket.
Robin clapped and cheered from the side while Eddie just stared in disbelief.
“What?”
“I called Robin to come this weekend so I could propose!”
“But. I called her to come!”
“You both are dinguses! Eddie called me an hour before Steve did if it matters, but you both are ridiculous.”
They looked at each other and laughed as Robin’s words sank in.
“I guess I know your answer then,” Eddie said.
“Ask me anyway.”
“Yeah, I came all this way to see proposals, give me a show!” Robin exclaimed loudly.
“You just need ideas for your girlfriend.”
“Shut up.”
Eddie turned to Steve, got down on one knee, and smiled up at him.
“We’re living in a time where we might be able to actually get married and there is nothing I want more than to be able to call you my husband. I’ve loved you for nearly 20 years, and I know I’ll love you more in the next 20, and the 20 after that. What do you say, big boy? Wanna marry me?”
Steve was crying and Eddie could hear Robin sniffling to the side.
“Yeah, I do.”
Eddie placed the ring on Steve’s finger and kissed him so hard, Robin groaned.
“Okay, my turn.”
Eddie stood up with a smirk as Steve got down on one knee.
“Eds, I’ve never been that great with words, but you’ve loved me anyway. Even when I may not have deserved it, even when it may have been hard, even before I was ready to love you back. I’m not going anywhere no matter what the law says, but I want you to wear this so you know I’m all in. Will you be all in too?”
Robin was crying harder now, but Eddie didn’t care.
He nodded and let Steve place the ring on his finger.
Then they both pulled Robin into a hug, all of them crying into each other’s shoulders.
It made sense that she was here for this. She was Steve’s other half, Eddie was just an addition, and he was fine with that.

Hiya! I adore all of your fics and i just wanted to go on ao3 to keep reading but all your works are gone? I just hope everything is fine and you're doing okay? If you decided to delete everything by choice i support that but just know that your fics will be dearly missed. Sending some love to you 🧡
Hi! So, yes, I did delete my ao3 account for good this time.
While I haven’t had much of a presence on social media, the times that I do, I still get comments about being a “ship jumper” and “how dare I write for them”that when I go to write, I get so much overwhelming anxiety that I will close out the doc before I even type anything out. And the thought of posting more just to get more comments about why I should be in this fandom anymore isn’t something my mental health needs at the moment and it’s frankly not something I’m going to put myself through anymore just to prove they aren’t getting to me, when in reality they are and they have.
As much as I love and adore these characters and the stories I made for them, at the end of the day even though I have so many wonderful people who follow and love them too, I really want to be able to write again. I put a lot of thought into it and decided maybe writing just for me is the answer. Maybe even turning them into original stories and publishing them, idk.
But if there are people interested to read Suddenly or Summer when they’re finished, I would absolutely post a sign up later to share the doc or something like that, but right now, I don’t see myself posting them online again.
Gosh, sorry, that was awfully long. I just figured I get it all out in case someone else got curious. I do appreciate you. I’m sorry I took them down, again. I’m sorry to anyone else that might miss them. I’m so grateful that you loved them. 💛

you sat on lilos back as you walked towards you home, the place you’ve missed so much, it’s been two years since you were last here besides protecting your people from the sky people and helping other navi fight against them had forced your clan to become nomads for two years.
and now here you were returning home as Olo’eyktan your father having stepped down from his title due to being hurt badly that it almost costed him his life, and you being ready to take on the responsibility you were made Olo’eyktan your brother weap the head warrior.
as you lead the people through the forest back to the cave a smile was on your face along with your friends, family, and the rest of the clan you moved with ease on lilos back as you got off dipping your feet into the water near the waterfall as most sprayed your face and body, many of the na’vi were happy to see their animal friends they haven’t seen in years some running around with them, other just walking around or playing games.
you sighed content with the fact you were back home in the forest of pandora, instead of the eastern side of the sea during your two year stay with the Tayrangi Clan, you loved the clan but being on the ground and being able to run through the first on lilo was way more fun then flying.
later that night you decided to head out for a walk with lilo throughout the forest as it glowed, it allowed you to forget your Olo’eyktan duties for awhile.
you walked for what seems like how’s just letting your mind wander lilo walked at your side, you walked to a small river bank watching the fish glow in its clear waters, before rolling over on your back to feel the grass beneath your body, almost cradling you, as the sounds of the forest at night eased your mind.
you laid like that for awhile basking in the moonlight and glows of the forest, until a crunch brought you out of your trance.
you sat up, eyes waiting for anything, watching every corner lilo behind you waiting along side you “lilo, stay ready” you say holding out your knife, you held your breath a arrow wizzed passed you you moved your head to the side barely missing it, your ears pinned to your head with your teeth bared.
it was silent you got onto lilo’s back running back into the forest as she ran you bent down to her ear “i’ll take the high ground” she slowed slightly, you jumped and grabbed a near by branch and spun your body so your back was touching the bark.
you didn’t see nor hear anyone, the creatures of pandora being the only noise you released a breath you didn’t know you were holding, lowering your bow but still ready for anything you peeked around the body of the tree making sure it was clear before moving you stalked along the branches jumping and landing on the ground.
you stalked around to make sure everything was clear before a twig snapping caught your attention, swiftly turning with your arrow aimed and your eyes narrowed observing the person they turn and started to run away before falling flat on their back colliding with your thanator.
she put a large paw on the person you walked over and stood above the person not recognizing them “who are you?,”you asked harshly still having traded the bow for a knife the person only stared fear evident in their eyes “i don’t have all day speak” “lo’ak” they said with their hands up, body pushing into the dirt.
you clicked your tongue having lilo get off the poor boy you put your knife away and helped him up “i’m sorry i shouldn’t have attacked you like that” he laughs “no worries bro” your eyebrows creased in confusion “bro?” slowly putting the pieces together your eyes became softer and a large smile found its way to your face “lo’ak,” you said with a large smile before engulfing the boy in a hug “i haven’t seen you in so long you’ve changed” lo’ak laughed and hugged you back “you’ve changed too” you both laughed pulling apart.
“where’s your brother?” lo’ak laughed nervously “searching for me i snuck away and our dad sent him to find me, i been running avoiding him” he looked at you.
you thought for a moment “i could give you a ride back” lo’ak tried to protest “no isn’t a answer, and i want to see your home” you said with a genuine smile plastered on your face.
neteyam returned home empty handed it was time for dinner so he headed to the middle of home tree and found his father “i didn’t find lo’ak” he said looking down not meeting his fathers eyes jake stood up, the height a slight difference neteyam only being slightly shorter he put a hand on neteyam shoulder “he’ll be back soon” he said look at the entrance of home tree before he and neteyam sat down continuing their meal.
a thanators roar was heard the omatikaya gasped many started to tremble in fear, jake stood “a thanator never comes this close to hometree” he grabbed his weapon neteyam following suit along with the other warriors.
they watched ready to attack as a thanator jogged in the center of hometree many navi backed away along with the warriors “what do we do?” jake stood frightened for a moment “i don’t know we never fight these” jake held his breath.
neytiri held her daughter close, tuk on the other hand studied the thanator before he eyes widened “lilo!”and she broke out of her mothers hold “tuk!” tuk ran to the thanator, it stopped before her looking down at the girl lilo watched tuk as she jumped around trying to play with the girl jake and neytiri watched confused.
“neteyam it’s lilo” tuk said with a smile neteyam stood for a moment before recognizing the creature before he then ran to her petting her he looked at lilo “wheres y/n?” lilo turned her body toward the two figures walking into hometree.
neteyam stared in shock before taking off running towards them tuk following.
-
lo’ak has just finished telling you about how they found a new hometree during the two years you were gone before watching someone run to you the next thing you knew you’re feet weren’t touching the ground and you were spinning you looked down to see neteyams smile before you wrapped your arms around him.
“neteyam i see you” you said laughing once he put you down “i see you.”
tuk hugged you before taking your hand and dragging you to the center.
many na’vi looked at you in wonder, shock, and amazement saying things like “they’re real?!”, “their eyes are so blue”, “they’re markings are a different color”.
tuk led you to her father “daddy this is y/n” tuk said excitedly “y/n olo’eyktan of the Cave Na’vi,” the silly kids looked at you in shock of your title lilo stood next to you “and this is lilo.”
many of the omatikaya looked at you still in shock neteyam stood next to you.
“welcome to home tree y/n.”

3rd anni req 3: [HSR AU] dh, bailu / vidyadhara family
ao3 link
note: this was a fun little crossover! this is sorta like the trailblazer ik au, except she's just in her home universe? i liked this prompt, but as a heads up i probably won't do anymore full other-fandom-aus, since i want to focus on ik and the jtta cast
ik here was awakened at the same time as stelle, but instead of om coming into the picture later, but there's an implication in this one that she knew the characters before being 'woken up' by kafka. haven't developed proper lore for this, but in this case the devildom would be another planet/world in the hsr universe
∎ ∎ ∎ ∎ ∎
It’s odd, but Dan Heng feels relief when IK doesn’t seem to recognise Imbibitor Lunae.
Conveniently displaced just enough from everyone else to have missed all the action, she catches up just as they’re dispatching Jing Yuan for healing. Dan Heng steps back, suddenly self-conscious, and decides to let the rest of the Nameless do the talking.
He thinks at first that he might have gotten away with it - that he’s blended in with the other Xianzhou natives, and will be overlooked until Dan Heng (the archivist, the friend) can meet up with them on the Express. IK looks at him, shakes his hand, tells him it’s nice to meet him, then wanders off to have a look at the Ambrosial Arbor. She doesn’t even ask for his name.
More fool him for falling for it, he supposes.
While the Express is still parked by the Luofu, he doesn’t expect to go out much. He’d vowed long ago to never return to Xianzhou, and while his exile has been revoked, old habits die hard. That doesn’t mean he refuses to return at all, though, and so he hadn’t refused when Stelle asked him to accompany IK to the Alchemy Commission to visit Bailu.
Bailu’s been aboard the Express several times to hang out with its youngest passenger, and the kids have a habit of roping him into their games, so he thinks of it as more of the same. And he still doesn’t think anything’s up at first - he takes them around Aurum Alley, trades drinks with IK after Bailu successfully tricks her into trying mung bean soda, and doesn’t even question it when they abruptly suggest a change in location.
This is on me, he thinks, staring up at the statue of the High Elder with a mild grimace and a bitter taste in his mouth. Though that might be from the soda.
“...you’ve been planning this, haven’t you?” He asks.
IK gives him a look. “You’re only asking that now?”
“We took you all the way to Scalegorge Waterscape and you didn’t think anything was up?” adds Bailu.
He takes in the near-identical blend of stubborn seriousness on their faces, and can’t help but smile. He admits, “I wasn’t paying attention.”
“You’ve been like that for ages,” adds IK. “Like you’re a million miles away. I was getting worried.”
She starts ambling down to steps to the rest of the Waterscape, and Bailu tugs on the hem of his jacket until he follows. “Remember when we sealed the Ambrosial Arbor, and all those echoes kept talking to you? I was worried you’d never want to come back to the Luofu after that…”
He shakes his head silently. He can’t think of what to say in response.
IK keeps walking for a while, then starts, “I’ve been reading about that Dan Feng guy. There isn’t a lot about him in the archive. Did you delete it?”
“I didn’t feel the need to record much of it in the first place.”
“The Vidyadhara pages are all really detailed, though.”
He hums. Bailu trips over a wide crack in the stones, and he steadies her by the shoulder without thinking.
“Did you know it was me before?” He asks after a while. “Were you just pretending not to?”
“It took me a while,” IK admits. “I looked at the statue, and he had the same hair and clothes and horns, but his face was all wrong. So I looked at you properly, and then I realised it was you.”
Dan Heng has looked up into that statue’s face before, and it’s like looking into a grey mirror. “...you don’t… need to do that for my sake. I know we share the same—”
“You don’t, though. It wasn’t making a Dan Heng face.”
Bailu looks up at him with an earnest nod. Dan Heng can’t find it in him to argue.
IK hops over a particularly deep puddle, then reaches over to help Bailu do the same. Dan Heng thinks Bailu could probably make it across just fine on her own, and he thinks Bailu knows this - but she stretches out her little arms, and lets herself be lifted across anyway. He crosses the same puddle easily, and contemplates something for a while.
The Waterscape is never quite silent, but it feels quiet as a graveyard right now. Several times since arriving at the Luofu, he’s found himself consumed by his thoughts - deep, thick, like wading through tar - but right now, he finds himself thinking of nothing at all.
“You know,” IK starts, “If you sort of look like him, and you have the same surname…”
“Are you suggesting that Dan Feng is my father?” He asks, amused.
“Maybe?” She grimaces. “Is that how it works?”
“Vidyadhara don’t really have parents,” Bailu says. “What do you think?”
“...I dunno. First thing I remember is waking up in the lab. Does that make my dad a test tube?”
Dan Heng thinks of what Stelle has told him - of how Blade knew her from before her own awakening. “Do you remember anything before that?”
“I don’t know. It’s all a giant blur. There’s Stelle, and there’s Miss Kafka…” IK thinks for a long while. “...and before that… there’s someone with big black wings, and it’s dark. But that feels more like a dream.”
“Vidyadhara dreams are supposed to tell you about who you used to be,” Bailu mumbles. “But mine are just really confusing. Dan Heng, what do you dream about?”
He stops walking. He doesn’t respond.
Dan Heng, by self-imposed rule, tries not to dwell too much on dreams. Dan Feng’s memories are murky - cold, pressing, like sinking deep into an icy ocean. The pressure builds until he feels he might explode, and then he wakes up.
When he’s lucky, he gets a nice memory - a sunny day, an evening drinking with friends. But Dan Feng died in pain, and so too do his dreams most often end in dull agony. He counts himself lucky to have not gone through the Sedition of Imbibitor Lunae, but he’s still unlucky enough to bear its scars.
Dan Feng is guilty. This much he knows - this much he learnt from the moment of his rebirth, and the cold chains of the Shackling Prison for years afterwards.
“...Dan Heng?”
The kids have stopped walking now. They’ve stopped just in front of another puddle. This one looks deeper than the rest - darker, too, as if falling in might drop them into the cloudy abyss below.
Without thinking, he crosses it with a single, long stride, then reaches across and carefully lifts IK across the gap. Then Bailu, too, and it’s only once they’re both looking up at him in confusion that he remembers where the conversation left off.
“I don’t dream of much happy things,” He says finally. It isn’t pleasant, but it’s the truth.
He takes a deep breath and closes his eyes. When he opens them again, he feels a gentle smile on his face that wasn’t there before.
“I didn’t realise you were interested in the Vidyadhara,” He says to IK. “You know, you can just use the Data Bank whenever you like. You don’t need to sneak in while I’m not there.”
“I didn’t want to scare you,” She mumbles, and he almost laughs at the notion. IK is about as scary as a Wubbaboo. “Stelle told me it’s tricky for you to talk about. I didn’t want to just ask.”
She looks nervous now. He wonders how much Stelle might have exaggerated his own grievances. He might be haunted, but he doesn’t consider himself particularly tormented.
“I don’t mind,” He says, and it’s the truth.
IK’s a curious creature, and he often finds himself supplying her constant want for knowledge. This might as well be a tutoring session. He doesn’t think much of it - between one step and the next, he calls the transformation forward, and the dragon emerges with little more than a crystalline ripple.
The way IK reacts, though, you’d think he’d presented her with a tome of archaic knowledge. Her face lights up. Was she holding this back when she first met him in this form? Normally she’s frighteningly easy to read…
“Told you he doesn’t have a tail,” Bailu says, though she’s grinning brightly. He can’t imagine anyone else on the Luofu would be this delighted to see him like this.
“I do have a tail,” He sighs. “It’s just not convenient.”
“Tail?” IK repeats, barely above a whisper. Her excitement is palpable.
“...fine,” He acquiesces, and it shimmers into form behind him. IK’s clear delight - though silent - brings a small smile to his face. No wonder she made such fast friends with Bailu in the first place.
IK takes a step towards him - and, without thinking, he takes a step back. He only realises he’s done it once she does the same, ducking her head a little apologetically.
He hadn’t meant to. It’s just that— of all those pieces of the dragon who had been Dan Feng, it is Bailu who inherited his gentleness and healing. He only has the destruction. He can be here as a demonstration - like that statue before - but he can’t help but feel apprehensive about the hum of golden cloudhymn magic at his fingertips. Gold and red go hand in hand so easily.
“Dan Heng,” Bailu suddenly whispers theatrically. “It feels really nice when you get your horns scratched, you know.”
“...what?”
“Just giving you some High Elder wisdom.”
IK is giving him a different look now. It’s the same she wore when approaching Svarog for the first time, and it only went away when Clara asked the massive robot to let IK shake his hand.
There’s something like a protest in the back of his head. He ignores it and dips his head down.
He isn’t sure what his horns feel like, actually. Are they cold? Are they more crystalline, or porcelain?
Whatever it is, IK seems happy. It’s odd - she hides behind Stelle whenever they have to meet new people, but she never retreats from encounters with robots, or anything that could be termed an animal, monster, or creature by any other sense of the word.
This feels a little different though. The presence of trust feels distinctly different from a lack of fear. It feels… warm.
And it persists, even as they continue on their walk. Bailu tells IK some funny stories about the Arbiter General, and groans when he starts recounting the history of the murals (“I hear enough about those in my lessons!”). When he does, he almost forgets that he’s currently an enrobed High Elder, and not an archivist explaining another entry in the Data Bank.
They stop at some eggs, and IK says something about how it must be a shame to not have parents to raise you.
“Probably, anyway,” She adds after a moment. “I don’t really know.”
Dan Heng feels an odd tinge of sorrow. Bailu, meanwhile, huffs. “What do they even do?”
“Nag a lot, I think,” IK says, then puts on a funny voice. “A-Heng, no running in the street! A-Heng, no more sweets! A-Heng, do the dishes!”
“I’m older than you,” He mutters, though there isn’t any reproach in it.
“Yeah, yeah. Everyone we meet’s older than me.”
“Maybe we’ll meet a baby one day. Then they won’t be.”
IK snorts. Then Bailu does the same - and then they both burst into a peal of laughter. Quite suddenly, he finds himself joining in, though more mellow, because that really is an odd thing to hear from such a regal-looking Vidyadhara’s mouth.
Their smiles are brighter than the sun, he thinks.
Later, they’ll have to return to the Express, and Bailu will be needed for her duties again. For now, they are at home in the Waterscape.

hey girlies I’m ngl I may just leave this place behind. like I might still lurk for some things I haven’t really decided but. thank you all so much for being here, being good friends, providing good fun and entertaining my nonsense, I hope you all have a great life.
side note- this is not related to any recent events, and I am terribly sorry to all the online friends and unfinished tbcu arcs I’m leaving behind, I just need more time for myself. this has been nagging me for a while and I’ve decided that, at least till I’m a bit older, I should stay back from this kind of thing. I also spoke to my psychiatrist and he 100% agrees.
Side note 2 - I don’t plan to delete the account, in case I want to look back later on or reopen the account in the far future, but I will be logging out and deleting the app.
side note for tennis balls - I do hope that you can carry on the community in my name, as you have when I went on that months-long hiatus. Never stop having fun, you people have created a great group and I’m so happy to have started all this.
Have a great life, each and every one of you. I’ll miss you, but who knows, maybe I’ll be back someday in the far future, and maybe I will find you again.

Teruya Otori x Reader Comfort
A/n: Things haven’t been going great, and I had a pretty shitty day. Decided to write this since Teruya is my favorite character, and I wish I could help brighten someone else’s day. Idk, I hate how this turned out and might delete it later.
Welcome to part 4 of ideas that no one asked for; under the cut for depressing themes
"...Y/n?"
At the sound of your name, you approached the door. It was a tiring day. Every day just felt like an opportunity to prove your worth by being useful, and every day, you failed. A part of you yearned for company, while another just wanted to be left alone with your thoughts.
They knocked at the door. You were snapped out of your thoughts and opened the door.
You recognized the voice of course, he was your boyfriend after all.
"Yeah, Teruya?"
Teruya held his hand behind his back and looked up at you with his green eyes that never failed to make you swoon. However, his mouth seemed to twitch, and his eyes seemed to scan you before he finally spoke,
"...Is everything okay?"
"...?"
Everything was fine. That's what you told yourself. That's how you got through every day. That's how you got through the tears and the stress. That's how you got past your sob story that no one would care to hear.
"I'm fine."
Teruya continued to stare at you. He blinked a few times before asking again,
"..A-Are ya sure? Ya seemed a lil'... off today."
Huh... no one else seemed to have cared. So why did he? Why would someone as kind as him ever like you?
"I'm alright, what about you?"
"...I wanna talk 'bout you."
"What about me?"
You were beginning to feel irritated. Why was he wasting his time with you? Teruya was the heir to a giant company, and loved his job just as much as he loved his friends. Why was he throwing it away for you?
Teruya was hesitant in his response, instead using his hand to open the door a bit more. Now the two of you were completely face to face.
"..."
"..."
"Y/n, can I hold your hand?"
You were confused, but slowly held your hand out. Teruya took it, curling his fingers around your hand.
"What's wrong?"
"There's nothing wrong, Teruya."
"...You're not happy right now. And I want you to be happy Y/n."
"It's not that simple."
"I-I know...but... whenever I was sad, my pops would always stay with me and bring me som' candy, and it always made meh feel betta. So I wanna do the same fo' you!"
You couldn't help but chuckle at his expense as he brought out your favorite treats, placing them on a nearby table. He was sweet. It was only natural that he'd pity someone like you.
"I don' pity yah! I love you, Y/n!" He cried. Did you say that out loud? How stupid were-
Your thoughts were interrupted as your boyfriend threw his arms around you. Teruya nuzzled into your shoulder, the same way you would nuzzle his neck whenever you teased him.
Was he crying too? You'd never forgive yourself if you made him cry.
"I love ya, Y/n... and I'm here for you. I jus' wan' ya to know dat..."
"....why?"
"Huh?"
"Why are you here for me? Don't you have better things to do?"
"...There's nothing more importan' than you, Y/n."
What isn't more important than you? What did he even see in you? Couldn't he see that..
"...I'm worthless." The words slipped out. You didn't even bother to stop them. It was like you wanted to say it but hated yourself for it after. Just like every other goddamn thing you did in your life.
"N-No! You're.. you're not worthless, Y/n... Why would you think that?? I- I love ya! S-So much! I think about ya every day and I don' kno' wha'd I'd do without ya!" Teruya cried, looking back up at you and holding you tighter. His words made you feel nothing but numb.
"..."
"...Y/n... have I evah told you how proud I am of ya? I'm thankful for every day I spend with ya, and our whole class wouldn't be happy without ya! W-We all love you, Y/n. I know it's hard righ' now, but I kno' you'll get through it! I'm here for you. Every step of the way." Teruya's fingers fiddled a bit with your own. He kept eye contact, even as his face was coated in a light blush.
Your eyes burned a bit with tears, but you just held him and didn't let go. The two of you sat like that for a while, and you began to tell him about your day. He stayed quiet through your rant, rubbing your back and giving your hand a small squeeze every few minutes.
Whether you knew it or not, you were everything to him. Even if you thought the world was against you, he was always by your side. Even if the world thought of you as one person, to him you were the world.

Demon from the Skies, or It's Never Too Late if that one's already taken?
Neither have been taken! Thanks Milk! 🥰 And both of these are right up your alley too!
Demon from the Skies is a semi-crack fic about Madge and Jeffers. I loved writing from Madge’s POV in SOS. She’s fantastic. A battle between her and Jeffers would be hilarious especially because they would both take it so seriously. After all, Jeffers can’t allow anyone, much less a bird, breach his precious perimeter. And Madge understands that in war, there are casualties, and she must do what needs to be done. I’ll leave it at that.
It’s Never Too Late is my working title for the Curtain getting out of prison 10-15 years later and trying to reconnect with his family fic (I know I mentioned that idea to you several times already). I wrote some of it once in my drafts, and then it deleted and I was disappointed and haven’t revisited it since. But here is a detail/idea I’m playing with that you might like:
Before we flash forward to the prison release, the beginning shows Curtain’s trial. The judge decides he’s not allowed visitors and can only receive letters at the discretion of the prison guards (to keep him from using the happiness on more people).
Curtain is led out to the squad cars and there are tons of reporters asking him questions but some are also relentlessly badgering SQ (who is standing with Nicholas), asking him if he thinks his dad killed his birth parents. Rhonda, Number Two, and Nicholas start glaring at the reporters, but they won’t stop harassing SQ. When the officers take a break from dragging Curtain to tell the reporters to step back, Curtain takes the opportunity to run up to SQ and Nicholas (still in handcuffs), fall to his knees, apologize, beg SQ’s forgiveness, and ask Nicholas to please take care of his son. Then he passes out (narcoleptic seizure) before SQ or his brother can say anything and wakes up in the back of the cop car as they arrive at the prison.
I hope you like these ideas! Thanks for the ask! 🥰

okay but what happened in the wild dragon age fic. why was it terrible. i'm curious now
okay, SO. i’ve talked about this fic with a few people, but i’d love to share it with the world at large. i had seen art based on a fanfic, but no link to the fanfic, so i reverse searched a bit of the passage to try to find it. i found this random fic on fanfic.net (no idea anyone even used it for dragon age) that had no relation to the original fic, but intrigued me enough i kept reading it.
the basis was that hawke was this evil, horrid, cartoonishly awful blood mage that was a menace to kirkwall, and anyone around her. already a fascinating premise, because how many times do you see hawke portrayed as inarguably in the wrong? like the true antagonist of da2?
it was so interesting to me, and even more so how the companions reacted. no one liked this hawke, she was utterly unlikeable. instead, they banded together and followed after her in order to negate the disasters she left in her wake. hawke was still their rallying point, but instead of hawke keeping their merry band of misfits together by the skin of their teeth, the companions united in spite of her, working together to keep kirkwall safe from hawke.
it was easily the most interesting da2 party dynamic i’ve read about.
additionally, the author portrayed blood magic in a way i hadn’t previously considered. hawke was happy to use other peoples blood, of course, but also heavily relied on her own blood. and it was a detriment to her health. she was described as anemic, pale, scrawny, underfed. i guess it sounds like common sense, but i really hasn’t considered the health risks of constant blood loss when using it for magic. and having their MC be described as so sickly and unhealthy was entirely new.
i would have hailed the author as some kind of writing genius, but something terrible happened:
hawke got better.
she decided she’d had quite enough of accruing the enmity of everyone and their dog (literally, the dog hated her too) and used blood magic to make a spell that would make everyone like her. the backlash caused a entirely foreseeable effect: it made her more likeable.
it was then that i realized that what i had been reading was the prologue, which set up this cartoon villain hawke in order to compare and contrast her to the new, improved hawke, who was sweet and kind and everything the old hawke wasn’t.
i felt like i'd been punk’d.
it’s possible that things get reversed or more interesting later on in the fic, there were plenty of chapters when i stopped. i’d read a few more just in case, but after the author described how eating properly and stopping blood magic had changed hawke's appearance, giving her 'curves in all the right places', i realized this fic was no longer what had captured my interest.
i haven’t been able to relocate it, and i’m afraid it might have been deleted. but it still lives in my head rent free. the greatest bait and switch i was ever subjected to.
