"Hector's Let It Go" - An Old Au (and my First Song Parody)
Back when I first started writing Brotherhood fanfics (about 3 years ago), I had an idea for an au where Hector was regularly visiting Edmund in the castle ruins while he was stationed in the Great Tree. One day Hector receives a letter from Quirin and/or Adira about finding the Sundrop, or maybe imploring him to leave the Great Tree to come visit them. Hector starts to feel guilty/ashamed because he's REALLY tempted to go make up with his siblings, which would be a violation of his oath and the ultimate act of betrayal towards Edmund (in his mind). While riding to the castle, Hector decides that he'll come clean to Edmund about the fact that Quirin and Adira have been sending him letters for months, if not years, and he's been reading them while fantasizing about going to meet them.
But after arriving at the castle and spilling his guts, Hector finds out that Edmund is in possession of the Mindtrap - and he's been using it on Hector. In a frenzy of terror and mental breakdown/unraveling, Hector is able to get ahold of the Mindtrap and break it, severing it's connection to/control over himself, Adira, and Quirin. (This causes all three of their tattoos to burn/scar their hands before disappearing, even tho the three knights are spread across the globe at that moment.)
Hector then has the Elsa Moment he deserves, escaping from Edmund and going straight to the Moonstone chamber so he can claim it's power in an act of self-defense/making sure Edmund doesn't have a chance to use it on him like he did with the Mindtrap. (And of course he's decided to go meet up with Quirin and Adira and tell them what's been going on.) I started on the choreography for this part but never quite finished it. I did, however, write a full parody of "Let It Go" for Hector to sing while making his way thru the castle, claiming the Moonstone, and then triumphantly leaving the castle to go find his siblings. (It's based on the epic metal cover of Let It Go by Connor Engstrom, which I've linked at the bottom of the post so you can know what Hector's version is supposed to sound like!)
Verse 1:
The moon hangs low
for my questioning soul:
The betrayer...
or betrayed?
How do I define my kingdom?
The ones I love?...Or the throne?
The breaking in my chest,
These crumbling castle walls...
Home and fam'ly gone,
How'd I lose it all?
Let no one in - the kingdom sleeps.
Ever farther,
The Moonstone's power creeps.
Once loyal pet,
Now on my own...
'Cause now I know...
Chorus:
Let it go, let it go!
Can't hold me down anymore!
Let it go, let it go!
Can't excuse a choice that poor!
Lies have poisoned ev'ry word you say!
Time to change my path,
I choose where my loyalty lies today.
Verse 2:
It's sad to see my passion,
was a tool of the throne.
All the thoughts that once controlled me,
were not even my own!
It's time to make my countermove,
time to knock him down a peg or two!
Vengeance, justice, same thing to me!
I'm free!
Chorus:
Let it go, let it go!
I know with whom my life bonds lie!
Let it go, let it go!
Your well of power's dried!
Where I will, is where I'll go!
Try to stop me now...
Bridge:
I'm not your marionette, not
your royal fool!
My will is stronger than your
magic tricks and mental fricks!
My one-track mind can fin'lly
find a brand new path!
I break my oath today,
this pris'ner's free at last!
Chorus:
Let it go, let it go!
Now I'll right ev'rything you've wronged!
Let it go, let it go!
My home will be reborn!
Here I stand in the light of day!
Let the games begin,
Adira's face is so gonna' make my day!

I've brought a sneak peek of chapter 12 of Moonrise mwahaha. Maybe I'll change it. Maybe not. I like it, but I am very brain-fried at the moment so hahahe
[...]
"So... you were planning to use a super powerful, potentially super dangerous talisman on Hector, to control his mind without even knowing if he'll survive it?"
Edmund glares. "I don't think he'd survive either way. Unless Adira miraculously succeeds in convincing him to drop the Moonstone, the Mindtrap is his best chance of survival. Surely you see my point, son?"
Eugene is visibly taken aback. Really? That was his view on things?
"Listen to me, Edmund." Eugene snarls. "You don't know the risks of that thing and by the sound of it, using it on Hector will kill him. Your inaction on me has made me a thief, not a murderer. I'm not gonna sit here and let you treat a person like they're some puppet—"
"But your inaction will make you a murderer either way, because there is no way Hector will drop the Moonstone until he dies holding it."
Eugene hesitates, but quickly regains his resolve. "Hector really wouldn't let go of the Moonstone. But that wouldn't make me a killer, because I didn't make him grab it, nor did I order him to keep it. Letting you use that talisman on him though? That would be inaction. That would be me enabling you to attempt murder on him—"
"He tried to murder me!" Edmund yells.
"Then don't stoop down to his level!" Eugene yells back. "Stop acting like mind control or murder or war or any of that is going to fix anything! Stop acting like a heartless bastard and use your head! I don't want to lose my family! I don't want to lose my only fucking family when I just found out I had one!"
Edmund freezes at his outburst. Eugene stares at him just long enough for him to see the tears he tried to blink away. He then shakes his head, wipes off his unshed tears, turns on his heel and leaves.
Edmund reaches out for him and almost asks him to wait, but quickly pulls his hand back. Hor—no, no. Eugene needed space.
But as reality slowly downs on top of him… hadn't twenty-five years been enough time for space?

TTS Brotherhood Ask Game!!! :)))))
9. Who do you think is the most skilled in fighting?
14. Do you think the Brotherhood should continue with new members?
18 What is a cool headcanon that you liked from someone else?
9. Who do you think is the most skilled in fighting?
Ohhh man, this is a tough one- I see them as pretty evenly matched? I can imagine them all countering each other in different ways, and perhaps having favorable/unfavorable matchups- though I think they're all be close enough in skill that any fight would be a tossup.
Honestly, I kinda want to compare them to a starter trio from pkmn? (or rock paper scissors lmao)
Hector -> Quirin -> Adira maybe?
I feel like Hector's win condition against Quirin would be to outmaneuver and take him down before he runs out of stamina. Quirin is a tank, but also slower and the easiest to outspeed- Hector's aggression and decisiveness benefits him here.
Quirin, in turn, would win a war of attrition against Adira- if Adira didn't engage, he wouldn't burn himself out like Hector would. He can play just as defensively and patiently as she can, and out-endure.
And like we saw in the series, Adira has an excellent balance between strength, defense, and dexterity, and leverages each to her advantage. I'm not sure one member of the brotherhood is objectively the most skilled fighter, but of the three, imo she's probably the most reliable.
If we're talking canon/post-series and not hypothetical matchups, I debate on if Hector or Adira would be stronger. Quirin is obviously rusty, so he's out. Hector is isolated, and not necessarily fighting skilled opponents most of the time- but he probably practices and drills himself religiously. Adira's out in the world, so more likely to encounter trouble and test her skills- but she also might avoid fights because it's safe/practical.
We do see Adira beat Hector in a fight in RatGT, buuut I think that could've gone either way.
14. Do you think the Brotherhood should continue with new members?
Honestly, no! I think the Brotherhood, as it was, needed to come to an end. The secrecy, the demand of loyalty to the point of self-destruction and sacrifice, the legacy of the moonstone and the mindtrap talisman… it's better left in the past. (I also tend to HC that the Brotherhood favored recruiting orphans or children who otherwise had nothing, which is another reason the system would need to change in my mind.)
I think the Brotherhood could definitely reform, possibly under a new name, and become more inclusive/healthy- I really like the HC that in a canon-compliant ending, Hector goes on to be a teacher/mentor for the next gen- but part of rebuilding the DK would be starting that part of it anew.
18. What is a cool headcanon that you liked from someone else?
Xannerz has really cool thoughts on the DK and the Brotherhood!! Hard to pick just one w/ all our chatter, but I really like her headcanon that not everyone left the DK in the evacuation and a small handful of the citizens stayed behind. Ones who were older or sick, and just couldn't make the long journey, or maybe who refused to leave out of love/loyalty to their home- Edmund wouldn't have been completely alone, but it's still bleak and tragic in its own way.
Meechatuck's idea that Quirin is actually quite skilled at picking locks and Mo (rainyday-deer)'s old HC that Hector whittles are also both very cute to me!

So, what do we have from the storyboards so far, the Mindtrap as a ring, Sugracha using a violin and an alternative Moon incantation.
Really interesting!
Don't forget Cassandra's deleted song, and also a deleted scene of Cassandra talking to Hector in "Plus Est En Vous" and treating him pretty roughly while evil plotting.
https://tangled-pnumbra.tumblr.com/post/611609777635753984/part-1 ((Ignore the numbering, look at it in the order I linked. I suspected they posted it that way so the second one would be under the first one when looking at the blog.) That's a little concerning for the theories about him being her dad. I wonder if Gothel treated him the same way under enchantment?
Also this whole thing. There's a lot of stuff in the storyboards that I wish we'd gotten to learn more about.

I love brotherhood Varian… so naturally here’s my own take on that tasty AU. I love archers so you really should have seen this coming. I mostly wanted to mix his Alchemy with something more traditional. He still have his little alchemy balls but another weapon on top of that
(He originally had a clear arrowhead to see the formula but you could see it in the dark)
((It also kind of works with the AU I posted last night?? As much as I love Varian, a knight he is not. Sniper seemed like a good route considering his aim and such))
Feel free to DM me if you wanna talk about it bc I have a lot of idea!

Since you mentioned the mind trap, what do you think of it? (I'm pretty sure you don't like it but this is a permission to rant about it lmao)
when i think about the mindtrap too much i want to find each and every person responsible for it and send them a letter like "you do realise mind control is fucked up right?? you have to know that, right???" because it really feels like they don't
of all the ways to bring back the Brotherhood, making them basically mindless puppets in the hands of Cassandra was truly one of the worst one i can imagine. They're not allowed any agency, they're just here to be cool mini-bosses and like at this point it'd probably have been better to bring back the disciples than do... that. let the Brotherhood come back to save the day instead idk
genuinely, actions have... consequences. Being robbed of your ability to make choices, being forced to fight people, to the point where Quirin and Edmund nearly killed members of their family with no remorse is so absolutely awful and IT'S NOT TREATED AS SUCH. THAT'S WHAT KILLS ME ABOUT IT. Adira values her boundaries so much and is open about it and that?? is literally violating these boundaries in the most violent way AND IT'S NOT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED. hector appears like twice in this goddamn show AND HE'S MIND CONTROLLED BOTH TIMES CAN SOMEONE GIVE HIM THERAPY ALREADY
and that's without mentioning how awfully it reflects on the main characters. Rapunzel and Eugene go back home knowing that Cass can potentially control the Brotherhood and they do nothing about it? Like, they don't even try to contact Adira and fail for example, they just do nothing. One could argue that they didn't even remember Quirin was in it (Eugene only does when he sees the mark on his hand in PEEV) so that's why they don't tell him but like, why aren't they trying anything? Why didn't they go to Varian like "do u think u can do anything against that thing" which would have made Varian go "wait oops wasn't my dad in that too"?? WHY DO THEY NOT CARE AT ALL
and then there's cass and like. genuinely i don't get what they thought they were doing. Once A Handmaiden is like "Cass decides she wants to make up with Rapunzel but oh no! there's a misunderstanding and she falls back into zhan tiri's clutch in a moment of rage" but like where is my moment of unplanned rage if she had the damn mindtrap in her bag that whole time? How am I supposed to believe she's truly regretting her actions if mindcontrolling people had never stopped being on the table? the mindtrap is such a thoughtless plot device that it breaks the narrative they're trying to establish, it's THAT stupid
and since i'm ranting i just wanna say, in PEEV when cass and rapunzel are stuck together, there's a moment where rapunzel is like "if we believe what adira say" and cass makes a big "urghhh" about adira and just. it's not even funny, just infuriating. cass has been mind controlling adira against her will for literal weeks even if it wasn't always active. she forced her to obey her commands and made her into her subservient soldier and- she still holds a grudge?? god i hate that moment so much i can't even describe how unsympathetic it makes her to me
AND they don't even get an apology for all that lmao or even a line that's not like "for corona for rapunzel", because apparently treating their characters as actual characters was too much for TTS

Duty (DK AU)
I know I’m late to the party, but hey, this one is getting a bit old and I thought why not share it ! Based on @finnoky ‘s wonderful Dark Kingdom AU, and its angsty fanarts ! This is my first tumblr post (how does this website even work ahah) and I’m proud to say it is an angsty One shot. I hope you’ll enjoy it and that it’s okay !
-----
Varian took a shaky breath, the air cold in his lungs, as cold as the black rocks, as cold as the electric blue eyes watching him.  What happened ?  Under his feet, Varian could feel the black rocks pulsing with energy, one that had always been there, and would always be; they were filled with a different energy now, but it was one nonetheless.  Why did he do that ?  Across from the bridge, where the Moonstone once rested, was Eugene; or someone resembling him instead.  Eugene didn't have blue hair.  Eugene didn't have blue eyes.  Above all, Eugene didn't look at Varian without joy or care. Before, there used to always be something warm in his smiles or words, something that was odd for the teen supposed to protect him.  When he was first given the duty to look after Eugene, Varian had tried to stay neutral, to remain by Eugene's side because it was just that- his duty as a member of the Brotherhood. He was expected to keep the Prince safe, and that was all : it was actually his first task given after joining the Brotherhood, so he was determined to do it right.  But day after day, year after year, him and Eugene had grown closer. There was just something about the older man's personality, his humor and adventurous side that Varian couldn't help but enjoy. Varian knew it was his fault : he was just a kid, and having to protect the Prince himself resulting in said Prince starting to give him attention, well... Of course he soon craved for his friendship and to get to know him better.  That's not what happened, though. More than friends, they quickly became brothers, despite not being from the same family. Eugene was caring for Varian and protected him -which the teen was always kind of ashamed of, because wasn't he supposed to be the one protecting the Prince ?-, taking the blame when one of their pranks went wrong- because yes, Eugene initiated the young teen to pranks. Varian wasn't sure when it started or why, but he was glad it happened nonetheless.  The truth was that when Eugene first saw this kid with his back straightened and serious expression, he felt a pang in his chest. He didn't want someone protecting him -especially a kid, like come on he was so small-, and he didn't want... that. As the Prince of the Dark Kingdom, he wasn't really allowed to see other people, and he was craving to get human interactions; but that kid ? He was lacking any personnality, any... humanity.  He knew he wasn't going to be able to get rid of him -"The Brotherhood is really important and have sworn loyalty blablabla"-, but he might be able to at least make him more... I don't know, alive ?  It was pretty difficult at first, because man the kid was "loyal" and "devoted to his duty"; but with enough time, Varian -because yes, he had a name- started to loosen up a little. It was then that Eugene made discoveries, like the kid was actually extremely clever, curious or pretty chatty; it was also then that Eugene came to see of him as a little brother. He finally had someone to spare him from his dull life, and something told him the feeling was mutual.  Maybe that's why it hurt that much for things to come to this.  Eugene had planned everything before taking the Moonstone. Everything, even what this would imply for Varian. I can't fail now, he thought as he reached out to the Mind Trap. In front of him, he saw Varian's eyes go wide, because of course he recognized the Talisman : to his eyes, it could be the end of him, after all. Varian didn't say a word, only staring at Eugene, and the latter ignored the sorrow and pain he could see there. He had to do this, and this was not the end of their friendship- their family. Once he used the Mind Trap, then-  An arrow hit the talisman, sending it flying away; luckily, it didn't fall off of the bridge. Varian took another one of his arrows and pointed his bow at Eugene this time. Now that there wasn't the threat of the Mind trap, he only needed one shot to pull his target down. He had to, it was his duty as member of the Brotherhood to keep the Moonstone safe, to keep others safe.  Eugene moved to reach the talisman, and Varian followed him with his bow, ready to shoot.  Memories flooded his mind. Eugene and him stealing in the royal kitchens. Eugene and him playing hide and seek. Eugene and him going out of the royal palace to see the town and its inhabitants.  He had to shoot now because once Eugene would get the Mind Trap back, then he was done for.  Eugene actually celebrating the alchemist’s birthday, offering him a special gift he went to buy in town just for the occasion. Them both reading the tales of Flynnigan Rider. Their games, their pranks, their silly nickname- "Team Awesome".  Eugene outstretched his hand.  The day he realized both that he cared too much about Eugene and that this would be his doom.  That day was today.  Eugene snatched the talisman, slightly damaged by the arrow, and felt anger rising in him. The Dark Prince had no choice but to do that, and he wanted Varian to be by his side, together like they always have been ! But Varian- he had nearly destroyed their last chance at happiness. Turning to the younger man, Eugene grabbed the Mind Trap with both of his hands, focusing his power in it to activate it. "That's enough, Varian." Why would Varian fight him ?  The symbol on it immediatly glowed a bright blue, the same blue as Eugene's hair and eyes. The Moonstone wielder heard the sound of Varian's bow hitting the ground and saw him fall to his knees.  The same blue as both of their eyes.  Eugene walked to Varian, his emotions a mix of concern and relief. He did it. He used the Mind Trap on him. Putting the talisman away, the dark prince gently helped Varian up and the boy limply went along. This was good. This was what had to be done. Patting the younger's head, Eugene smiled. "See kid ? I knew you'd come around eventually." Of course, Varian didn't answer, not even looking at him with his glowing, lifeless eyes. Eugene winced, as if finally realizing what all of this implied- what he had done to another human being- what he had done to Varian, his brother-  He shook his head and walked away, the alchemist following him. It was too late for regrets anyway.  Varian's mind was blank. There was nothing, no thoughts, no feelings; but that nothingness was sometimes troubled by flashes of memories that something deep down within was fighting to make resurface.  A warm smile.  Books.  A birthday celebration.  Gentle brown eyes.  But that was stupid. The only eyes he knew were not brown, they were electric blue, blue like the Moonstone. And since he swore loyalty to it, then these blue eyes were all that he had to care about; not the books, not the celebrations, and not the brown eyes as well. So he buried these flashes of memories as soon as they resurfaced, because they didn't matter. The only thing that mattered was protecting the man with blue eyes.  And he would protect him, for the sole reason that it was his duty.

WIP Ask Game! I wanna know what TTS System AU is, as well as The Silent Scream! :)
Thank you for the ask, @meechatuck ! I apologize in advance for how long my answer is; I'm gonna have to split it into two posts. But I hope you enjoy it all! This first half will be about my TTS System AU, and the second half will be about my parody of "The Silent Scream."
Part 1: TTS System AU
(TW/CW for child-abuse; trauma; discussion of DID; use of artistic license concerning a mental disorder in narrative format to promote better understanding of said disorder as well as the nature of healing from trauma)
This is my most ambitious au, given the amount of research it requires and my partial understanding of the disorder(s) it focuses on. (Forgive me cause there will be some technical terms that I'll do my best to define, and certain parts of this lack proper grammar/sentence structure.) This au was inspired by my love for the Moon Knight series, as well as my own mental health journey. Hector, instead of being a singular individual, is a member of a "system" (more than one unique personality inhabiting/sharing the same physical body.) This is a result of intense trauma he experienced as a young child, which caused the emergence of an "alter" (a separate and complete personality), whom I named 'Vedis' after the fifth Brotherhood member from The Rise of Flynn Rider book. Their system is relatively small, with only two alters present.
Alters Present:
Hector: - Original personality that was born into the body/began coalescing first; acts as the dominant host; emotionally-driven in his actions and struggles to control himself because his emotions are so intense; desperate for acceptance/approval from authority figures; struggles with black-and-white thinking/perception of the world; acts as the "muscle" of the system when in an extremely (physically) dangerous situation; highly trained in multiple forms of combat and significantly stronger than Vedis physically - Hector doesn't have the skills/coping mechanisms to contain and release his rage in a healthy way; as a child, his anger and reactivity to abuse (and/or when he was overstimulated) was often used as an excuse for his father to physically beat him; when Vedis first emerged and started taking control of their body, Hector resisted and tried to fight it because he didn't understand what was happening; eventually the two were able to communicate and work together, bonding as they helped each other survive
Vedis: - Splintered, emerged, and developed as an alter who can take control of the body and become submissive in order to appease a threat that Hector can't handle, and/or take physical abuse so Hector doesn't experience it; is also an athletic fighter but not as much as Hector - Vedis has much better control of himself because his emotions are less intense and his actions are more logic-driven; has stronger negotiation/diplomatic skills than Hector; serves as the system's caretaker/protective older sibling; has beef with Edmund for favoring his personality over Hector's because Hector has spent decades working for Edmund's approval, but the king doesn't seem to notice or care; has done a lot of research about "multiplicity" (in-universe term for Dissociative Identity Disorder) and has a much stronger grasp of how and why alters form
Plot So Far:
1 - Vedis awakens as the "fronter" (member of the system who is actively controlling the body at a given moment) after Cassandra uses the Mindtrap to take control of Hector and essentially puts him into stasis, along with Quirin and Adira
2 - Confused and concerned, Vedis seeks out Edmund for help and discovers he's left the DK ruins to visit his son in Corona, without having checked on any of the Brotherhood after the Moonstone's theft
3 - After Vedis crashes Eugene's birthday party, and is allowed a proper introduction, the DK and Corona characters try to contact the other Brotherhood members and figure out exactly what's going on
4 - Eventually Cassandra uses the Mindtrap to awaken Hector and sic him on Raps and co as a test; Hector's personality, controlled by Cassandra via the Mindtrap, fights Vedis's personality so he can front the body and carry out Cassandra's will.
5 - Vedis is temporarily overpowered and trapped by order of Cassandra in their "shared headspace" (a special safe-space in their brain that they've consciously carved out as a place for their personalities to live and interact in), but he eventually tries to stop Hector/regain fronting control
6 - Cassandra then sics Hector's personality on Vedis's personality under the assumption that one of them could be destroyed by the other; this is actually impossible, and the conflict becomes so severe/overwhelming for both personalities that they both dissociate from the situation simultaneously; a new "perpetrator introject" (a type of alter that resembles a past abuser) is formed, and Hector's personality is freed from the Mindtrap's hold (maybe the Mindtrap itself cracks in the real Cassandra's hands?)
7 - Hector and Vedis come out of dissociation with no memory of what just happened, but upon registering the perpetrator shard's presence, they perceive her to be a threat and work together to take her captive in their shared headspace
8 - Vedis, who has a greater understanding of "multiplicity", explains to Hector that this new shard isn't a fully developed personality, just a container for the memory of whatever event preceded her emergence; despite her delusion about being the "real"/original Cassandra, she is in fact a member of their system, a part of them, and if allowed to develop into a full personality, she'll mimic Cassandra's harmful behavior and could be able to take control of their body so she can report to the real Cassandra
9 - Vedis is also shocked and confused because all of his research indicated that "splintering" (in-universe term for when personalities split) only happens during childhood as a result of intense trauma, so a new shard emerging shouldn't have been possible now that they're adults; Hector insists that there must have been magic involved - dark magic
10 - Vedis insists that they have to figure out what caused the perpetrator shard's emergence, so they can absorb/fuse with her before she has the chance to develop a will of her own and the ability to front as a whole personality; knowing how sensitive and emotionally-driven Hector is, he decides to front the body and gather info while Hector stands guard; this is a manifestation of Vedis's caretaker/guardian role - he believes he should protect Hector from the initial shock of remembering what happened and then guide him through the fusion process
11 - Of course this takes a toll on Vedis, who is triggered by descriptions of what happened and bears the brunt of remembering first; after reliving the memory of Hector attacking him and trying to choke him to death, Vedis puts their body into a meditative/sleep state so he can return to the shared headspace and explain what happened to Hector
12 - Hector is extremely grieved upon reliving his own memories of the real Cassandra using the Mindtrap to sever his free will and take control of his mind/personality/body; he's also ashamed that he tried to "kill" Vedis for not submitting to Cassandra, especially since he wasn't capable of stopping himself like when he fought Adira for committing treason
13 - Once both of their personalities are able to own these overlapping traumatic experiences, they successfully absorb the perpetrator shard; she may or may not need to believe that all 3 of them are safe from the real Cassandra in order to participate in the fusion, depending on what kind of perpetrator she is and how developed she is...
14 - Vedis later speculates that, because they are living as a system instead of a singular individual, and because he himself never took the Brotherhood oath, Cassandra couldn't establish and maintain control over both of them, hence the emergence of a perpetrator shard and Hector regaining his free will when they simultaneously dissociated
15 - Unfortunately, Quirin and Adira are stable, singular individuals who took the Brotherhood oath, and Cassandra will have no problem controlling them; she must be stopped/the Mindtrap must be destroyed in order to protect the rest of the Brotherhood.
Regrettably, I don't have any full scenes from this au written yet, but I have a beat outline for the one where Hector and Vedis face their Mindtrap-related trauma and absorb the perpetrator shard. I've literally brought myself to tears just thinking about what the two of them go through and how they overcome that situation together...
Hector: (gutteral panting and gripping his hair) "I feel like SHIT!"
Vedis: (standing calmly with tears streaming down his face and voice trembling) "So do I. But we did it; the perpetrator shard is no longer a threat."
Hector: (turning to Vedis and extending his arms) "I-I need…can you…"
Vedis: (steps forward to embrace him tightly) "Of course."
Hector: (cries into Vedis's neck/shoulder crook)
Vedis: "We'll both feel like shit for a while. But we'll be alright. It's alright. We're safe now."
Hector: (voice muffled) "I'm sorry, Vedis, I'm sorry!"
Vedis: "I know, Hector. I'm not angry with you. I'm angry for you." (gently lifts Hector's head so they can touch foreheads) "We're brothers; we take care of each other. We forgive each other, even when we make mistakes. And we don't hold each other accountable for things the other can't control."
Total Fusion:
Hector isn't comfortable with pursuing total fusion. He knows Vedis is protecting him from some truly horrendous memories that he's not sure he wants to relive. He also knows (from Vedis's pre-Great Tree research) that fusion would result in one of their personalities being absorbed into the other and no longer existing. Hector sees Vedis as his older brother, and assumes that because he was the second personality to emerge, he would be the one to "disappear" in the event of their fusion. To Hector, this scenario feels like killing/sacrificing someone he loves.
He also has a lot of questions about the process: Would Vedis "disappear" immediately if Hector agreed to relive the memories Vedis is protecting him from, or would they have time to work through those memories together? Why does the healing process have to hurt and be so scary, since whatever happened was already so horrible that Hector couldn't handle it and Vedis had to emerge to protect him? How is he supposed to live in/cope with the outside world without Vedis's company and support?
After leaving the Great Tree to seek help for Hector, Vedis took the opportunity to continue his research, and discovered more possible results of total fusion. They could fuse into a whole/singular Hector, a whole/singular Vedis, or an entirely separate individual who represents the combination of all their traits and traumas. Whoever the unified individual ends up becoming, they would be able to learn new coping skills as a singular being, without dissociative support. And if Hector and Vedis somehow manage to force their fusion before one or both of them is completely ready, their unity would be unstable and likely to split again from another overwhelming event.
Vedis is willing to let himself be absorbed into Hector's personality and cease to exist as an individual. He knows he originally emerged to fulfill Hector's needs, but over time he and Hector were able to grow and develop into full personalities who loved and supported each other as brothers. Vedis was able to pursue his own interests separate from Hector's, and as adults they figured out how to share their body so they both could serve the royal family in professional capacities. Vedis's main concern is that Hector's reliance on him for protection from traumatic memories (and as a coping mechanism in general) is preventing Hector from reaching his own full potential. He believes that Adira and Quirin would make a worthy "external system" (ie a traditional kind of support system - made up of singular individuals supporting one another through love and friendship) if Hector could resolve his issues with them. The possibility of Hector's personality ceasing to exist as a result of their fusion terrifies Vedis because he doesn't view himself as the dominant owner of their body. The thought of having to front the body he once shared with his alter/brother, and spend the rest of their lifetime alone, saddens and intimidates Vedis. He would also be devastated if Hector didn't get to live out the rest of their lifetime and experience the world beyond the Dark Kingdom.
[Hector: (gutteral panting and gripping his hair) "I feel like shit!"
And we don't hold each other accountable for things the other can't control."]

11, 7, 24 for the tts ask game (if any of these were answered ignore this lol)
7. "Do you have any post series headcanons?"
I've actually answered this question before, but I'm happy to reply again! :] !!
I don't have many of them, though I do headcanon that there would be a lot of tension in the Dark Kingdom post-series. Edmund, Adira and Hector hurt eachother a lot (well, Adira and Edmund committed most of the "hurting" if I'm being fully honest here) and now that the 3 of them are stuck together rebuilding the whole place by themselves, they oughta work out those issues if they want to be productive again!
11. "What is a major change (rewrite) that you would make to the canon?"
I've answered this question before as well, but since you asked again I'll take this chance to tell a different change: make someone else take the Moonstone. Someone like Hector, for example, who has extremely good reasons for doing so: he wants to stop anyone else from grabbing the Moonstone. What better way to do that than by holding onto it himself?
Plus, he could potentially use the stone to rebuild or at least repair his kingdom.
And of course: being the new holder of the Moonstone, he's sure to attract Zhan Tiri. That would've been so fun to see, considering he already has a connection to her since he freed her power from the Great Tree!
This is actually a concept I'm exploring myself in my fic, because it's just that interesting to me. Although, my Moon!Hector is a lot more defensive than another one may be, so while mine may focus more on rebuilding the DK and defending from intruders, another could focus on destroying Corona and ensuring that no one will ever try to take the stone from him. The latter option seems very interesting, especially when you realize that the reason he's doing all of that is to make sure no one tries to grab the Moonstone to do "evil", but he himself is doing evil, by trying to destroy the home of dozens, if not hundreds of people.
It's just one little change that makes a hurricane of a difference! :]
24. "The Salt Question: what were you disappointed by?"
The FINALE. my god you have absolutely no idea how freaking sad I was to see Zhan Tiri, my absolute FAVORITE CHARACTER, get defeated by a fucking frying pan. I swear. I cried so freaking much in that scene. What an anti-climatic ending.
Everything that happened in the finale battle was disappointing, and everything that happened afterwards was just rubbing piles of salt in the wound.
And that's not even talking about the whole finale, pretty much ALL of the 2 parts of Plus Ent En Vous were disappointing somehow:
- Varian and Quirin didn't have a heart-to-heart (it was their very last chance to do so since it didn't happen in the rest of the season)
- Mindtrapped!Quirin didn't fight Varian. That was unexpected, considering how many cruel things Cass has done so far, but alas.
- the monkey scene. that in itself is a disappointment.
- The fact we didn't get any concrete insight on Zhan Tiri and Demanitus' backstory past the very contradictory flashback. We could've gotten an entire flashback sequence of their story (at least in Demanitus' POV) if the mains had found entries in his journal regarding his past with Zhan Tiri. That would've been infinetely cooler than the fucking monkey scene. Yet, here we are.
- The Lost Realm. I had expected a void, or literal hell, not Buddy Song-level drug world. It's neat, but still disappointing.
- Zhan Tiri. I love her, but my girl was completely useless the entire fight. She showed up just to pretend she was gonna be an epic villain, only to die to a fucking frying pan about five minutes later. Sure, she killed everybody with the Decay Incantation, but what good was that if they just got revived 3 minutes later?
- Cassandra! Her "redemption" was, forgive the wording, fucking ridiculous. She basically cried and moaned about being useless, once again making herself the victim, then said one "I'm sorry" to Rapunzel and poof! Suddenly, hero again! I honestly could've accepted that if Cass had gotten any kind of punishment afterwards, but nope. She got a cleaner record than Varian's, probably, all because she died for less than one minute and was Rapunzel's favorite. Admittedly it could even make sense that Cass was forgiven in Corona, since Rapunzel is a princess and therefore does have the authority to forgive Cass of all of her crimes there, but there's absolutely NO reason why she wasn't punished by the DK.
By all means she should've been executed or at the very least arrested by the Dark Kingdom and the Brotherhood (who, may I remind you, HAVE BEEN ROBBED OF THEIR CONSCIOUSNESS FOR WHAT MAY HAVE BEEN MONTHS, in Adira and Hector's case, and in Quirin's and Edmund's—were forced to fight their own sons). The worst part is that Cassandra didn't have to do that, she chose to. You can't even pin that on Zhan Tiri because like- she told Cassandra what the Mindtrap was and what it did, not that she absolutely HAD TO use it or else she was gonna die or lose everything or something. This was Cassandra's doing. This was Cassandra's choice. Something this unforgivable couldn't have been let off just because pretty little angel Rapunzel asked.
- finally: the Mindtrap not being adressed by any Brotherhood member, at least on screen. They got Hector's and Adira's VA's in the finale only for them to say one or two lines each and that's it. Truly a waste.

(last ramble about the mindtrap I promise) but I was just thinking, how does Cassandra use it in OaH, but in PEEV, suddenly, the mindtrap is back at her tower? Like, did she just... make a trip back here while everyone was sleeping at the Snuggly Ducklings or-
