Sacré Bleu
I just remembered reading a book YEARS ago called Sacré Bleu. It was one of the weirdest books I think I've ever read (which is saying something) and I wanted to try to find it again. However, when I tried searching the name (which isn't terribly distinctive) I got lots of results that seemed to be about a mystery book involving the death of Van Gogh. I kept scrolling down and down, looking for a fantasy with extremely weird immortal protagonists who have a mysterious attachment to blue pigment. It ended up that Moore WAS the author of that book I was remembering, but the first search results just had very poor descriptions of the book. It is just WAY more complicated than a mystery about Van Gogh.
It is never clearly revealed HOW these two people from pre-history became immortal . . or just WHAT is going on with ultramarine pigment . . but it romps through a bunch of artists' lives and I remember it as pretty fascinating. I wonder if my library still has it.

Egyptian Papyrus Painting: A Journey Through an Ancient Art Form of Timeless Beauty
Today, we continue our trek around the world looking at art forms we may not be familiar with.  We have talked about Mexican Folk Art, Street Art, Chinese Kites, Japanese Origami, Sand drawings of Vanuatu, and Kintsugi so far.  Now we go way back centuries to look at and learn about an ancient art form that is very much alive today. The art of the Egyptian Paypyrus Painting is both interesting…

What is masterbatch?
Tumblr media
What is masterbatch? Masterbatch are similar to granular seeds. with the difference that unlike granular seeds, they are not made of polymer. Rather, they include additives, polymer base and compatibilizing agent. The polymer base and compatibilizing agent can make it better combined with granular grains. Additives can also include color, fillers, and compounds that ultimately change the properties of the final plastic. In fact, the additive part of Masterbatch is the most important factor that has led to the general changes of this material. Changing materials, color, fillers or other compounds that lead to changing properties are all added as additives. This factor has caused these materials to have various uses and functions.

Researchers advance pigment chemistry with moon-inspired reddish magentas
An Oregon State University researcher who made color history in 2009 with a vivid blue pigment has developed durable, reddish magentas inspired by lunar mineralogy and ancient Egyptian chemistry. Mas Subramanian, distinguished professor of chemistry, and collaborators at OSU report the findings of the study in the journal Chemistry of Materials. The new pigments, which could be used as energy-efficient coatings for vehicles and buildings, are based on divalent chromium, Cr2+, and are the first to use it as a chromophore; chromophores are the parts of a molecule that determine color by reflecting some wavelengths of light while absorbing others. "To date, no Earth-based mineral has been reported to contain chromium in the divalent state as one of the components," said Subramanian, the Milton Harris Professor of Materials Science in the OSU College of Science. "However, the analysis of lunar mineral samples collected from Apollo missions showed the occurrence of chromium in the divalent state."
