me @ all of you fuckers (affectionate) (but barely) ruining the momentary relief I felt at ‘well, fresh cut grass is fucking dead, but I guess at least orym is out of his deal with nana morri, thank gods’:
im deeply enjoying the relationship ira is slowly building with fearne. he takes no umbrage with her for her father being zathuda, but their first meeting was marked by him not killing her because he realized she was of the calloways - and morri. she is nervous around him but naturally gravitates toward him and vise versa due to being the only fae in any given situation. they try to coerce fcg into being as whimsical as them on the silver sun. she steals his spyglass. they bond as ira tries to bring out the rascal fae instinct in her. he insults her by saying shes a disappointment where imogen is more powerful, but only says it because it's the unseelie perspective, and when he realizes she's hurt by it he spends the rest of the episode propping her up as fascinating, her father as shitty, and repeatedly says he would love her on his infiltration team, portraying her as extremely reliable before the volition.
ira is not a good man. and he knows that, and fearne knows that. but i think some part of him is deeply aware of the calloways' hospitality to him when he never deserved it, and even more aware this young woman is morrigan's ward. he is standing before a girl he doesn't see as a princess but the (grand)daughter of the people he truly does see as family. he never really knew how to treat people well, least of all them. but you can see him.... attempting, in his own way, to fit into a familial role to her. if there are two things fundamental to ira beyond his obscenity or his vengeance, it's his warped love of potential, and his even more warped, but even more sincere, care for a seldom few. he sees a literal fire of a youth before him, birthed & raised by those seldom few.
So, if you've read Bram Stoker's Dracula you know part of the reason Dracula targeted Mina (and retrospectively Lucy) was as a means of gaining control over the vampire-hunting group as a whole. If one of their loved ones falls, maybe they will willingly be pulled by her into vampirism rather then suffer being separated from her forever.
And you remember me pointing out how in c3e80 Nana Morri called them "My Hells..."
What if Morrigan is operating on much the same principle, if less proactively, that Dracula used? If she gets her hooks in Chetney and Orym, might she then be able to pull the rest of Bell's Hells either into her service or to stay and live with her? Like I said, I don't think this was her plan all along - Nana Morri doesn't strike me as someone who does a lot of long-term plans, despite being capable of them and very patient. She is however very opportunistic and if two of her Hells will offer themselves up, why not roll the dice to try to gain all of them?
I know that we’re all recovering from 10d12 emotional damage from EXU:Calamity, but I can’t stop thinking about the crumbs and the questions left behind by Lady Elmenore.
Like, I know Matt is saving her for C3 with Fearne, but I’m sorry, you cannot drop this:
and expect me to not want to know more
Like, what do you mean the fey and the fiends have a written contract??? When did this come about???
When did The nine hells give the matriarch of the seelie court an old rotting contract???
What does this have to do with Fearne???
When did Loquacious’ version of Elmenore—kind, soft spoken, understanding of his need to die within the calamity—turn into Fearne’s version of Elmenore—vile, unloving, refusing to let fearne not return home???
Is Fearne half-infernal??? Is this why she know infernal as a second language???
Were/are her parents infernal demons??? Is her father a demon??? Her mother???
Is this some kind of Montague and Capulet situation where the two realms have an outstanding feud that is kept in balance by a contract???
Is this a Jester Lavorre thing? Half-satyr half-infernal demon???
Is this why Fearne is a wildfire Druid??? Wildfires are characterized as being destructive but also replenishable. A parent from untamable growth fey realm and a parent from distructive nine hells would literally breed a child with potent wildfire abilities.
Where does Morrigan come into this???
Did Elmenore try to use Fearne’s abilities within her court under the suddgestion of the nightmare king???
Did Morrigan steal Fearne away from Elmenore because of it???
Where does Aeor come into this????
Where does the nightmare king come into this???
Where does Morrighan Ferus and Dusk come into this???
liam confirming orym made a deal with morri “so that I can keep all of these people safe so that we can achieve our goal. …we’re not going to summer camp. we’re going up against a massive alien power that orym believes is going to cause scores, untold loss of life. and that… orym thinks that any of their chances are ridiculously low to survive it. …orym’s not on a revenge quest, he’s not like ‘you took my family so I’m going to stab you!’ he’s trying to shield the whole planet. he’s trying to do his father and husband proud. he’s trying to do keyleth proud. he’s trying to do his job, which is to be a protector.”
love this for me,,, and by ‘this’ I mean ‘liam christopher o’brien taking the opportunity to gently but firmly prove that each and every orym hater has their head so far up their ass they haven’t seen the sun since the beginning of campaign three 😌’
Okay, so. We know that the Calloways are using arcane batteries for something. We know that they left Fearne at least 90 years ago, though time is soup so who knows for sure (side note, but that would have been a lot more difficult for them than it was for Fearne. Theres a reason Artie wanted VM to help him make a gate). Morrigan claimed they left on a very important mission and were trying to save the mortal world. Fearne received presents and handpainted postcards, supposedly from her parents, but which Dark!Fearne from EXU claimed were actually written by her grandmother. Dusk claims they were with the Calloways recently, but not only did Birdie not react to Imogens mention of them at all, but we also know that Dusk is actually an undercover agent if the Unseelie court who's here to kill Birdie and Ollie, and probably Fearne too now that they know she exists - so it's likely that Dusk was never actually with the Calloways, and was just using that story as a cover for why she was looking for them. In addition, even though Dusk didn't know Fearne was the Calloways' daughter beforehand, their meeting seems to not be as big of a coincidence as what we initially thought, since Dusks ring is? Tracking Fearne? Dusk is also looking for a Moontide Crown, I think it was - is the ring meant to track the crown? Does Fearne have the crown somewhere? Does she know she has it, if she does? And why did the Calloways never go back to see their daughter? Birdie sounded genuinely thrilled by Impgens message that Fearne was here and looking for them, but they never visited, and, if Dark!Fearne was telling the truth, never sent any letters or anything either. But they clearly didnt forget about her - so what? Did they just? Not have a choice? Hhhhh????
Grandma Morri is ten feet tall, with a neck that extends out three feet, glowing eyes in an old lady face with long dark hair, and a wide jagged-toothed smile.
She also has a second face in her abdomen. They talk to each other.
SHE IS MADE OF NIGHTMARES
But she has a tiki bar, so she probably makes the best cocktails in the Feywild.
