Imagine Mr. Gallant being your wing man.
It had been the world’s worst date. It was the third date and you had been really excited, you were finally going to lose your virginity. It was finally happening, and then it wasn’t. He didn’t fit inside of you and it was excruciating. You excused yourself to the restroom and left his apartment because you were so embarrassed. You didn’t want to go home to your empty apartment so you went to see your friend Malcolm. You knew it was late, but his grandmother would be passed out drunk and he’d still be up. You knocked on the door and he opened it with a face mask on and a glass of wine in his hand.
“Oh girl, what happened? I thought this was the big night. Don’t tell me I spent two hours on your hair just for you not to get laid.” He said. Normally you found his brand of snark charming and funny, but not tonight.
“He.. uh… he didn’t fit and I got embarrassed and snuck out.” You explained with tears rolling down your red cheeks.
“Oh…” He said, his demeanor suddenly turning serious. “Come in hun, take your hair down and I’ll pour you some wine.” He said and led you inside. You followed him inside as you dismantled hours of hard work, hairspray, and bobby pins. You sat on the couch and he poured you a glass of blackberry wine. He handed you the glass and sat down next to you. He took your free hand in his.
“Ok, tell me what happened.” He instructed softly. Gallant didn’t soften for many people, but when he saw a friend in tears he couldn’t keep the wall up.
“It hurt so bad, I thought he was going to split me in half. I don’t understand what happened.” You sighed in frustration.
“I slept with a girl once, back before I realized I was gay. She actually turned out to be gay too. We had gone out on a few dates and the third date came. I didn’t fit at first, but eventually, I did and we both finished… I think. She was kinda embarrassed too, but it was ok, she and I are still friends.” He told you. You sipped the wine and sat in thought for a moment. “I think you need to get to know yourself better, it’s hard to be intimate with someone else when you aren't with yourself.” He explained.
“As usual solid advice.” You said and snickered.
“Go change, you’re staying the night and we’re watching But I’m a Cheerleader.” He said and you laughed. You went and changed into one of his shirts and a pair of his shorts and met him back in the living room. Coco and Mallory had arrived, apparently, Coco was having a hair emergency and needed Malcolm to fix it immediately. You sat and talked with Mallory while Malcolm fixed Coco’s hair. You told her about your terrible date.
“So you didn’t get to finish?” Mallory asked you and your face turned a bit red.
“No, I didn't,” You told her. She looked at the two still engaged in conversation and then back at you.
“Want me to help you out?” Mallory asked.
“Fuck it, why not.” You said and got up with her.
“Where are you going, Mallory?” Coco demanded to know.
“Fifteen-minute break,” Mallory told her, hoping for once she’d let her have a break. Coco looked at the two of you, a bit suspiciously.
“Fine, bring me back a snack.” Coco huffed.
“There is lube in the bathroom drawer, lovelies.” Malcolm informed you, and you chuckled. What started off as a horrible night turned into a pretty blissful early morning which would transform into a coffee date with Mallory.
