Ducktales 17 Darkwing Headcanon idea 7: Gosalyn tries to commit suicide
GOSALYN SUICIDE
It was another day at the orphanage but something about today was different.
Webby and the others came to visit Gosalyn, they went to the front desk.
Help, I have done it again
I have been here many times before
Hurt myself again today
And, the worst part is there's no-one else to blame
"Excuse is gosalyn here" webby asked.
"Why yes, she's in her" the nurse pointed out.
The main reason why webby is visiting is because Lena had been mean to gosalyn and webby found out just three days ago.
Be my friend, hold me
Wrap me up, enfold me
I am small and needy
Warm me up and breathe me
"Ok when we get inside, Lena you better have a sincere apology for gosalyn" webby said.
Ouch I have lost myself again
Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found
Yeah I think that I might break
Lost myself again and I feel unsafe
"Ugh do I have to" Lena rolled her eyes.
But when they got inside her room, they saw something horrible.
Be my friend, hold me
Wrap me up, enfold me
I am small and needy
Warm me up and breathe me
"Hey gosalyn, we thought we could come here so Lena could apologize" when she didn't answer webby looked around,
"Gosalyn-GOSALYN!" She gasped in horror when she saw her laying on her bed dead, her left arm hung on her chest and her right falling on the bed holding a bottle of pills spilling on the floor.

Wrap me up, enfold me
I am small and needy
Warm me up and breathe me
Webby horrified ran to her taking her hand trying to feel a pulse.
"Oh my gosalyn, gosalyn can you hear me" and when she didn't respond.
"We need to get her to doctor"
The ambulance was called and she was strapped on a stretcher and rushed off to the hospital.
Meanwhile webby came home in a panic.
"GRANNY WHERE'S LOUIE, LOUIE HELP THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH GOSALYN"
everyone quickly stopped and Louie rushed downstairs in his doctors coat.
A few days later, the mcduck's had let gosalyn stayed with them until they could find the source of her problem.
She was asleep in the boy's room, in Louie's bed.
Everyone waited for Louie to come back with results.
"Ok it's nothing serious, she just overdosed herself with pills that she shouldn't have taken, do you know why she took these pills webby"
"No"
"Webby I have to know why Gosalyn overdose herself, you know some people who overdosed themselves is by suicide"
"I don't understand"
"What are saying Louie, that Gosalyn is hurting herself" Huey asked.
"Yes but it's most likely that she's committing suicide"
Everyone in the gasped.
"And suicide is caused by depression, so you know of any reason why Gosalyn would want to hurt herself" Louie asked.
"Not that I can think of"
"I Can think of one" may said as she glares at Lena.
"I think I know what happened" everyone turned to see it was Launchpad.
"It happened a month ago, drake was dropping off Gosalyn when"
Flashback to a month ago
"You ready to go home now" drake asked.
Gosalyn looked up at the building, her heart beating fast with fear.
"No, I can't go back"
"I'm sorry Gosalyn but you know I can keep you with me"
"Don't you think maybe you could consider me part of your family"
"She was hoping that drake would adopt her but, he just laughed" Launchpad said.
"Look sorry but I'm not parent material and I'm just not ready to have kids yet"
"Darkwing please I can't stay another night alone, plus your the only guy I know that can look after me"
"Oh I see, you think I'm some kind of joke"
"What no I-"
"You think I'm something to take advantage of"
"Darkwing that's not what I'm-"
"You I'm starting to think that having you got a partner was a bad idea"
"And that's when it hurt Gosalyn" Launchpad said.
"I think it's best if we went out separate ways"
"Darkwing please"
"I'm not responsible for you no go, I have better things to deal with then a rotten egg"
After she got off and he drove off, she started to cry, ending the flashback.
"So that's why Gosalyn is hurting herself" Louie says.
"She thinks she's not good enough to live" dewy says.
"She's doing it because of Darkwing, ugh what's wrong with him, can't he see that she sees him as a dad and that she wants him to adopt her, ugh my-" webby yells.
"Ok look Gosalyn is still hurt and sick, so we need to help her get better, webby I need you and the girls help Gosalyn get better" Louie said.
"And I'll go get drake" Launchpad said.
"NO" everyone yelled.
He turns looking puzzled then Louie approach him.
"Launchpad you can't tell drake, it'll only make things worse as it already is, I don't Gosalyn would want to see him, you have to promise not to tell drake"
"Oh ok I won't tell, but I'm only doing this for Gosalyn"
The next day Gosalyn woke up but was attempt to commit suicide again.
Webby walks in the room, to see Gosalyn awake, confused and terrified.
"Where am I?" She gasped.
"Oh good Gosalyn, you're finally awake good, we were so worried, look Launchpad told us everything and Lena says she's sorry, she didn't know"
"You...saved me" Gosalyn asked.
"Yes" webby answered.
"Why would you do that" Gosalyn screamed, "I wanted to die"
"Gosalyn please your not well"
Then Gosalyn got up panicking.
"I DON'T WANNA LIVE IN A WORLD WHERE NOBODY WANTS ME"
"Gosalyn please come down, granny, look we care about you"
"Webby I just want to be with my grandfather right now if he's dead"
Ms. Beakley came in when gosalyn limbed on the window.
"GOSALYN WHAT ARE YOU DOING" webby panicked.
"I just want to end my life, goodbye webby" Gosalyn whispered.
"WHAO WHAT" Lena said.
"Young lady I know your hurt but you're not well, please get down from the window, you don't need to be doing this"
"Tell drake I'm sorry"
She then fell off the window.
"GOSALYN" everyone yelled but when they looked out the window, they saw that someone caught her hand.
It was drake,"Gosalyn hang on" drake tells her but felt her hand slipping.
"Whoa" he nearly slipped when Launchpad grabbed his waist and they pulled her in the room.
When she looked up, she was surprised to see drake helping her up and looking at her.
"Are You ok" he asked.
Instead of happy to see him, she just burst in tears and pushed him away.
""LET ME GO, NO I WANTED TO DIE"
"Gosalyn wait" drake tried to calm her down but she ran into the hallway and bumped into Launchpad.
They look up at each other then when she heard drake running towards them, she buried her face in Launchpad's chest, he wrapped his arms around her.
"Gosalyn i"
"Stay away from me!, you're the last person I ever want to see right now"
Those words hurt him as she ran from both of them.
"Who am I kidding, I was a idiot thinking that I could help her"
Throughout the whole, it's been bugging him, gosalyn was getting the help she need.
She stopped trying to kill herself, although her attempts her close to a near death sentence such as drowning, hanging, stabbing, shooting and poisoning herself, she finally stopped.
She was laying on the couch, depressed form everything.
Drake was in the other room, he saw how upset she was and decided it was best if he left her be.
He stared at his own reflection in a cup of tea, when Della sat beside him to give him a parent to parent talk.
"You need to talk to her" Della said.
"I can't, she doesn't want to talk to me anymore" drake said.
"But you have to fix this"
"Look don't you get it, I hurt her enough already, I didn't want to hurt I was so afraid of becoming a parent that I might ruin her and now it's too late, everyone was right about me, I'm now hero I'm just a clown in a mask, all I need now is the shoes and a rubber nose"
"But don't you see you are a hero and she needs you even when she won't admit it"
And that right there Drake knew he had to save her.
"But how do I make it up to-"
But then looks at the window and sees this most beautiful purple-red orchid in the tree that he's ever seen.
He climbs on the window still, grabs the flower, has a fight with the tree and when he pulls it off.
It nearly made him fall feet away from the ground, "whoa", he then jumps back inside.
He goes in the living room,feeling a bit nervous to approach Gosalyn, then he sucks it in as he walks besides her.
When she saw him, she avoided making eye contact with him.
"Gosalyn I know you hate me and you have every right to be" he sits down on the couch, besides her, "but please listen to what I have to say, I'm so sorry about everything and I wish- if there was a way for me to make it up to you I could-"
He places the flower in her hair but then she burst again.
"DON'T YOU GET IT, YOU CAN'T FIX THIS, NOW LEAVE ME ALONE" she yelled.
She turned to the other side of the couch to avoid him, the flower fell from her hair.
He catches the flower in his two palms then looks back at gosalyn when he hears her crying.
Feeling guilty, looks back at the small fragile flower in his hands.
The flower represent Gosalyn, it reminded him that he was holding her in his hands, he rubbed its petals like he was rubbing gosalyn's cheeks,
seeing how fragile and innocent it was being held by a monster like him.
He had to think of another way to open to her, then he thought an idea.
He starts to sing baby of mine, "Baby girl, don't you cry Baby blue, dry your eyes Rest your head close to my heart Never to part, baby of mine"
She opens her eyes, realizing he was singing.
"Little one when you play, Don't you mind what you say, Let those eyes sparkle and shine
Never a tear, baby of mine"
He takes the flower, "If they knew sweet little you They'd end up loving you too" then he brushes a part of her hair and slides the flower back in, when she looks back at him.
"All those same people who scold you
What they'd give just for The right to hold you
From your head to your toes You're not much, goodness knows But you're so precious to me
Cute as can be, baby of mine"
He smiles at her but she gets up, pushes the flower off and runs away from drake as he reaches out to hug her.
Later that same evening, it started to rain, drake looked outside to see Gosalyn sitting on a bench underneath a tree.
He looks down at the flower Ah and he geos out to try to talk to her again.
In the rain, gosalyn starts to get soak and wet from the rain, even with her hoodie on.
As the rain poured hard on her, she stay alone quiet with her thoughts, a sad smile still pasted on her face.
She then looks down at her hands, she pulls her sleeves down to her wrist to see the cuts.
It reminded her of her first attempt to commit suicide.
A flashback plays of gosalyn crying on her bed, after the fight with drake, she realized that drake hates her and she didn't wanted to live a life with no family, so she wipes away her tears, finds a small razor and slowly starts pressing it on her wrist and before she could even cut herself.
She takes a deep breath, thinks about what she's doing, her heart racing fast.
Then as she starts cutting, she was brought back to reality.
"ahem"
She was startled when she saw drake, walking next to her with an umbrella, he smiled at her but she just faced the other way from him.
He then takes a sit as soon as the rain stoped, he drops the umbrella, still nervous about talking to her.
"Louie says your covering really quickly, that's good to hear isn't it" drake joked, hoping it would lighten the mood but instead only keep her away from him.
"Gosalyn I know I'm the last person you want to see but you need to know I was worried about you, I'm so sorry about everything, I never meant to hurt you, I hope you can forgive me"
She still avoided him...but then.
"You know people asked me what was the best thing that ever happened to me, you know what told them" he asked her.
"There were two things, becoming Darkwing duck" he says, " and meeting you"
She was surprised to hear him saw that then he places his hands underneath her chin, and lifting her beak to face him.
"You were the best ever happened to me, I'm proud to have you as my daughter" he rubbed circles around her cheek, then he cupped both her cheeks in his palms.
"But I'm not your daughter" she said.
"Yes...you..are, gosalyn I was a idiot thinking that I didn't need you but I was wrong about everything, I love you"
Those three words broke her, as tears began to fell down her cheeks.
As she cried in his hands, drake used his thumbs to wipe her tears away.
Then places the flower back in her head, she looks at it and touches it gently.
"You must think I'm crazy for trying to kill myself" she asked.
"What?, no no no, you were just in pain and I am lucky to have a daughter like you in my life"
And just like that the bond that had been broke was mended by unconditional love.
He lets go of her and they hugged, she continues to cry.
The next day, gosalyn was feeling better and drake had finally adopted her with no regrets.
She sat in his car, when he packed her things.
In the front seat, she saw drake and Launchpad kissing goodbye.
"Well goodbye Launchpad" drake said.
"Goodbye babe" Launchpad says.
Meanwhile Gosalyn saw webby and lean approaching.
"Thank you for everything webby and Lena I forgive you"
Both girls smiled and when drake gets in the car, the two looked at each other.
"You ready to go home" drake asked her.
"Whenever you are"
But this time not to the orphanage, no he was taking her home with him.

Something I Noticed In The Episode ‘McMystery At McDuck Manor’
Ok. As shown in the episode ‘McMystery At McDuck Manor!’, Scrooge McDuck’s enemies like Flintheart Glomgold and Ma Beagle seemed to respect Duckworth but despise Ms. Beakley. So, I’ll be going over my thoughts on why Scrooge’s enemies seem to respect Duckworth but don’t hold that same respect for Beakley. Also, Spoiler Alert for the DuckTales (2017) TV series. With that out of the way, let’s dive right in.
I think that the reason why Scrooge’s enemies respect Duckworth but hate Beakley might come down to when Scrooge hired them. After all, Duckworth was hired by Scrooge long before Della was lost in space considering that, as shown in the episode ‘The First Adventure!’, Duckworth worked for Scrooge while Della was still a kid. And Beakley was probably hired by Scrooge after Della was lost in space since, as shown in the episode ‘Nothing Can Stop Della Duck!’, Della was surprised that Duckworth was dead and that Beakley replaced him, Duckworth’s death probably came shortly after Scrooge’s niece Della was lost in space. And Duckworth’s death happening so soon after Della’s disappearance was also pointed out by @sprklboo in their TBH The Extent Of The Abuse And Isolation That Bradford Enacted Towards Scrooge Is Not Talked About Enough post. And that means that Duckworth’s death along with Della’s disappearance probably caused Scrooge to become deeply isolated from the people around him. Also, I think that isolation not only caused Scrooge to push away his loved ones but also his enemies too. So, And, while Beakley was, as shown in the episode ‘Woo-oo!’, more than willing to help Scrooge connect with his loved ones, I doubt she would’ve been willing to let him interact with his enemies again which I’ll be elaborating on in my next point. Speaking of which…
As shown in the episode ‘Woo-oo!’, Scrooge seemed so isolated by Duckworth’s death as well as Della’s disappearance that he didn’t want to talk to his great nephews at first. And if Scrooge was so isolated that he didn’t want to talk to his great nephews, he certainly wouldn’t have wanted to interact with his enemies either. That’s probably one of the reasons why Scrooge hired Beakley. He probably wanted her to make sure that his enemies left him alone. And Beakley was probably more than happy to oblige given all the trauma that Scrooge was put through and also the fact that, as shown in the episode ‘Woo-oo!’, Beakley has a no-nonsense attitude and wasn’t impressed with Scrooge trying to back to adventuring. And considering Beakley’s no-nonsense attitude and that she, as shown in the episode ‘From The Confidential Casefiles Of Agent 22!’, used to work as a spy, I think that Beakley was so strict with security that her effort to keep Scrooge’s enemies away from him came off as more frustrating to said enemies than anything.
But while Beakley was able to keep Scrooge’s enemies away, she didn’t seem to be able to reunite him with his family as well. I think that one of the reasons for that is because Beakley isn’t exactly much of a social butterfly as shown in the episode ‘Friendship Hates Magic!’ where Beakley seemed out of her depth at first when it came to making friends with other people like Launchpad. And I think that’s because, given the fact that she, as I pointed out earlier, had a no-nonsense attitude and that she was a spy who worked for SHUSH, she probably didn’t have much time to make friends and probably had to constantly fight to keep the world safe from villains which probably means that Beakley was more used to being surrounded by enemies than by friends. So, Beakley probably wasn’t all that well-equipped to help Scrooge reunite with his family since she didn’t know much about forming close bonds with other people herself. And that’s probably one of the reasons why Bradford Buzzard didn’t try to get rid of Beakley despite the fact that, as stated in the episode ‘The Last Adventure! Part 3: Tale’s End…’, Bradford told Scrooge’s niece Della about the Spear Of Selene thus ensuring Della’s disappearance and that, as @yoshimickster pointed out in their …so…yeah…Bradford killed Duckworth didn’t he? post, he probably killed Duckworth too since he did show a picture of Scrooge mourning Duckworth as he was going over how he tried to isolate Scrooge. Given that, as shown in the episode ‘Woo-oo!’, both Bradford and Beakley worked for Scrooge and also that, as shown in the episode ‘Last Christmas!’, both of them attended Scrooge’s Christmas party, Bradford probably learned about Beakley’s lack of social skills at some point. Speaking of Bradford…
I think that isolating Scrooge from both his friends and enemies was all part of Bradford’s plan to get Scrooge to give up on adventuring. After all, as stated in the episode ‘The Most Dangerous Game…Night!’, Scrooge gets really competitive when he’s trying to beat an enemy. So, Scrooge gets a real thrill out of taking down his enemies. And that’s probably why Bradford tried to isolate Scrooge from not only his loved ones but his enemies too in order to get him to give up on adventuring. Also, I think that another reason why Bradford didn’t try to get rid of Beakley is because her skills as a spy would be able to keep Scrooge’s enemies away from him. After all, as shown in the episode ‘The First Adventure!’, Bradford and Beakley were both members of SHUSH. So, Bradford probably knew about Beakley’s skills.

Was just re-watching episodes of the new Ducktales and started to wonder.
Do you suppose anyone in universe thinks it's weird that Launchpad McQuack, Gyro Gearloose, and Ms. Beakley wear pants?
Like a lot of ducks (and other bird-folks;) just don't.
Are pants, like, a fashion statement? Do they want more pockets?
Or is it a body-type thing? Like, if you have a certain set of physiques, do you look naked enough that it's not socially acceptable to go without?

Zé: Now that's just rude. Everyone still knows Djavan.
Panchito: No, no. I'm pretty sure it's really deja'vu, Zé.

Beakley: Well, I’m very surprised to hear that, Mr. McDuck; I didn’t think you’d like that sort of thing. I read a bit of one of them once. God, I couldn’t finish it! The language! Unbelievable!
Scrooge: It’s-it’s a bit gritty, but that’s the modern world, Beakley.
Beakley: Ah, it’s a bit much for me, McDuck. “Feck” this and “feck” that.
Scrooge: Aye, Beakley.
Beakley: “You big bastard.” Oh, dreadful language. “You big hairy arse.” “You big fecker.” Fierce stuff. And, of course, the F word, McDuck. The bad F word. Worse than feck. You know the one I mean.
Scrooge: Aye, I do, Beakley.
Beakley: “F you.” “F your effing wife.” Oh, I don’t know why they have to use language like that. “I’ll stick this effing pitchfork up your hole,” oh, that was another one, oh, yes.
Scrooge: I see what you mean, Beakley.
Beakley: “Bastard” this and “bastard” that. You can’t move for the bastards in her novels. It’s wall-to-wall bastards!
Scrooge: Och, is it, Beakley? Anyway…

Winx Club Headmasters
I finally got around to doing some of the teachers from the three magic schools.
Faragonda
Lets address the elephant in the room here. YES, I racebent Faragonda. Why? Mostly because of how my fan-cast to voice Faragonda in an ultimate dub of the series is Toks Olagundoye, who you will recognize as the voice of Mrs. Beakley from the 2017 reboot of Ducktales and the voice of Mel Medarda from Arcane. I basically just took the rich old lady from The Aristocats, Madame Adelaide and racebent her. Plus, nothing wrong with a black fairy-godmother figure, as Whitney Houston has proven in Cinderella lol. I REALLY love how she turned out. Her hair was a MAJOR pain to do but I love it. I especially love her fairy form. In my version, once a fairy gets to a certain age, they leave behind their Enchantix and get a form called Ethearix. Besides, we ALL want some older fairies. I did take inspiration from Morgana's fairy form (Since Morgana and all the characters introduced in season 4 onward don't exist in my version). What's Faragonda the fairy of? Quintessence! She basically has power over life-force, lightning, and being able to give life to inanimate objects. Pretty much what it is in W.I.T.C.H. I actually got the idea of her being the fairy of quintessence from my pal @tiredcloudd (Whose stuff you should check out because it's amazing and they are really talented) when we were discussing our own Winx canon on the private Union of War Discord server. So I have them to thank for this. Also, her and Griffin are a couple in my version.
Griffin
I had A LOT of fun with editing for Griffin because I feel like darker characters a lot more fun design-wise. YES, I did use Maleficent for her face but I also gave her the eyes of The Evil Queen from Snow White. I made her the witch of oracle magic. She doesn't really see the figure but can summon vectors of magic and do some powerful magic. I thought of that because of The Owl House and how Griffin was able to play mind games with the Winx Club back in season 1. I took inspiration for her witch form from @taiyoooh.
Griselda
Out of all three of the professors I've redesigned so far, Griselda was definitely the biggest pain in the ass to design, at least for her fairy form. I mean, Griselda seems like someone who wouldn't actually be a fairy. She seems more like she'd be a witch or a sorceress. I made her a mind fairy, because that's one of the few interesting things that Fate: The Winx Saga did. However, she can do offensive attacks as well. I also love the idea of that being her way of knowing whenever someone is up to something. She's the queen of detention for a reason. For her fairy form, I got rid of her glasses and replaces them with glowing eyes. Her hair is full of barrette thingies that look like brains because she is a mind fairy. For her outfit, I took inspiration from Nebula from season 4 but made it more conservative looking. I had to make sure the colors were more subdued compared to other fairy forms because it's Griselda and that also meant NO SPARKLES. Hell, the only makeup I gave her was purple lipstick because she's not the type to wear makeup at all. I love the way she turned out. Also, pants suit her better than a dress. Her fairy form was an absolute NIGHTMARE to work on. You have absolutely NO IDEA! Also, just imagine the voice of Mindy Sterling (Who played Ms. Briggs from iCarly and was the voice of Lin Beifong from The Legend of Korra) coming out of this character. PERFECTION!
Saladin
Well, I finally got around to posting my redesign of the last head of the three major magic school, Headmaster Saladin. He is also the grandfather of Helia (Even though the original show NEVER actually does anything with that) and in my version, I would actually do something with that. Considering in my version of season 2, part of Helia's story arc was gaining his Believix by learning to stop holding back his true potential anymore. Helia was sent to Red Fountain instead of a fairy school like Alfea so that his grandfather could help him. This also means that Saladin is also East Asian, which I wanted to show with his attire, which includes his Sorcerer form. While his regular form is in more Earth-tone colors, his sorcerer outfit does have more color too it with the white, gold, and purple.

Ducktales characters as (mostly dumb) things I’ve done
Huey: put icing sugar on his chips instead of salt
Dewey: at the end of a performance walked into a box onstage despite three other people walking into it before him. burnt his entire hand becuase he was using a spinney chair next to a lit metal fireplace
Louie: when the table that his friend group sat at was changed for a table half the size and a completely different color helped his others friends convince the last one there that the table had always been that way
Webby: was in a simple fair ground haunted house ride and was having the time of her life. a spooky voice asked from behind her. “hello” and she cheerily said hello back. then the voice asked her if she “was having fun” and yet again chearfully responded with yes. And taking several minutes to realize she was supposed to be scared.
Lena: A person who had been annoying her all day came up to her and said they had new steal cap boots and wanted her to stop on their foot. She no hesitation full force stomped on their foot.
Violet: Convinced someone to eat a unused tea bag.
Gosalyn: was playing air hockey but there where a lot of people so it was ““one loss, to the back of the line” and this one guy was thrashing everyone, he even had two friends with him who looked like lackeys right out of a teen drama. And when it got her turn one of them leaned over to him and said ““oh go easy on her she’s just a little girl”. This angered gosalyn and prompted her to think ““oh I’m gonna destroy this fucker” and as usual played a very aggressive game of air hockey (think bruised fingers of you’re not careful) beat him, and relished in the look of devastation on his face.
Scrooge: brought seven spare top hats in a bag purely to spite Goldie when she would take them
Della: as a kid saved most of her easter chocolate in a tupperware container under her bed “for later” proceded to forget about it until next easter and got sad when Duckworth and scrooge forced her to throw it out
Donald: slept on the floor because he was mad at scrooge for somthing very petty. It ended up being pointless because Scrooge was already asleep and never found out.
Duckworth: got into an argument with Ms Beakley about wether or not you need to peel mushrooms before using them after watching said person waiting time peeling and placing the “peel” into a bowl. Both of them Called in many, many other people to side with them. Eventually sat and ate the bowl of mushroom ““peel” out of spite (it was actually good tho)
Gyro: keeps forgetting that the cash register springs out fast and keeps getting hit by it.
Fenton: accidentally poured boiling tea in his lap but didn’t want to be rude and interrupt the teacher (who was very friendly and chill) so sat there crying in pain for 5 minutes
Launchpad: hit himself in the face with a freezer door because it got stuck.
Drake: fell off a bus
feathry: didn’t know where his cat was in the house and nearly searched on google for ““where’s my cat” or ““where’d my cat go” half thinking he’d get a useful answer. Was completely sober at the time just tired and anxious.
Gladstone: spent a solid 2 minutes trying to cut a tomatoe with the blunt side of a knife and not realizing what was wrong and getting frustrated at the knife

a rant about dt-17's finale and how it somewhat destroys the themes of the cartoon
ducktales (2017) spoilers for the finale under the cut. every day i tag spoilers for something more and more silly.
can i be honest with you guys? i kinda fucking hated the whole twist of ducktales' last episode. Now, now, i haven't watched it in a while (like five months) but my point still fully stands:
Webby being Scrooge's biological daughter was completely fucking unnecessary. Though I will admit that it has a few perks-- accidentally confirming that Scrooge was trans being one of the bigger ones-- the reveal ultimately serves to disservice the importance of found family.
Family of all kinds is the driving force of DuckTales, from Ms. Beakley to Lena to, hell, one could argue the Beagle Boys. For almost the whole show, Webby was meant to be the keystone of this entire theme. She integrated herself as an extra sibling to the triplets, she adopted Scrooge as her own uncle, and none of this was hampered by the fact she wasn't related by blood to any of them. If anything, this added to her character, by the idea that she never fit in with any of them, and her arc was growing to realize that a family full of adventures like she always wanted doesn't have to be a descendant of McDuck, that she could help shape that family on her own. This is especially important as you remember that in the early episodes, Webby had little say about how her life was lived, secluded from others by her overprotective guardians.
Many people also tend to say that Webby's being a genetic clone of Scrooge ''explains'' her extensive research to him. To that I say, no! That was a typical special interest for her, especially considering how she envied Scrooge's adventurous lifestyle at the time! And throughout the series, there are many parallels between Scrooge and Webby, such as their love for adventure or their almost blind-seeming courage, which proves that they were intrinsically tied through blood. While I do see some merit to that idea, this is much better explained by how she was raised in such close proximity to him and his affects left on the world. You spend years studying some guy, you're bound to pick up on his mannerisms and ideals.
A few other notes: I believe that the finale was horribly rushed, but that seems to be an effect of the production, so, whatevs. Going away from Webby, I also don't particularly like how May and June lacked their prior connection as Daisy's nieces. Although that connection was established, it seemed flawed and almost out of place. Also, the reason why Webby was made-- and this could easily be me just forgetting things-- lacked context or explanation. yeah, yeah, whatever, McDuck blood, but. I don't know. I think that the reason the writers added this subplot in was to explain Webby's ancestry, but there are just. So many better ways to do that.
Despite all my deep-burning hatred for the twist, I guess I do see the appeal, but I would find it much more rewarding if Webby actually searched these answers out for herself after seeing Della and the boys reunited, which, please do remember, she worked together with Dewey to do! She's a naturally curious person, she likely wouldn't just accept that she knows nothing about herself if she found even one inaccuracy to the story Beakley told her about her past. In a perfect world, I think that she'd see this as a new mystery to unravel and might persue it with Scrooge if timings were right, which would lead to a MUCH more emotionally satisfying conclusion to an arc about her heritage.

Something I Noticed In The Episode ‘Escape From The ImpossiBin!’
Ok. As shown in the episode ‘Escape From The ImpossiBin!’, the McDuck family split up into 2 groups. One group consisting of Ms. Beakley, Webby Vanderquack, Donald Duck, Huey Duck and Dewey Duck and the other group consisting of Scrooge McDuck, Della Duck and Louie Duck. I also noticed something about the different members of each of those 2 groups that I’ll be going over here. Also, Spoiler Alert for the DuckTales (2017) TV series. With that out of the way, let’s dive right in.
The group that consisted of Ms. Beakley, Webby, Donald, Huey and Dewey mostly consisted of the members of the McDuck family who generally prefer being cautious and following the rules. Ms. Beakley preferred being cautious and following the rules as shown in the episode ‘From The Confidential Casefiles Of Agent 22!’ where Ms. Beakley was annoyed with Scrooge’s unwillingness to follow protocol and was shocked to see Scrooge eating potentially dangerous to check if they were poisonous. Webby Vanderquack knows about and believes in government policies and regulations as shown in the episode ‘Nothing Can Stop Della Duck!’ where Webby knew that after all the lawsuits, the government claimed that fizzy rock firework cakes are unsafe to eat and tried to warn Dewey that eating one is unsafe. Donald Duck also knows a bit about being careful as shown in the episode ‘Storkules In Duckburg!’ where Donald gave Storkules strict instructions on how to be responsible. And Huey Duck is very careful too as shown in the episode ‘Quack Pack!’ where Huey realized that something was wrong since his Junior Woodchuck Guidebook was blank and soon realized that he and his family were trapped in a TV show after analyzing his environment and realizing that the place they were in was designed like a TV set. The reason why I said mostly earlier is because Dewey seems to be the only exception here as shown in the episode ‘Escape To/From Atlantas!’ where Dewey went across a bridge full of fiery traps despite Scrooge’s warnings against doing so. I think the reason why Dewey is the exception here is because, as shown in the episode ‘Escape From The ImpossiBin!’, Scrooge told Della and Louie that he needed them to spot any weaknesses in his Money Bin’s defense system since they were the 2 most cunning individuals he knew. So, Scrooge probably didn’t bring Dewey along in his group because Dewey’s recklessness made him far from one of the most cunning individuals Scrooge knew.
The group that consisted of Scrooge, Della and Louie only consisted of members of the McDuck family who generally prefer being rebellious and mostly tend to disregard the rules. Scrooge usually tends to ignore the rules as shown in the episode ‘From The Confidential Casefiles Of Agent 22!’ where Scrooge mostly disregarded regulations and protocol unless they were absolutely necessary. Della is also pretty rebellious as shown in the episode ‘Raiders Of The Doomsday Vault!’ where Della was fine with taking the Sunchaser to check out the Doomsday Vault without Scrooge’s permission. And Louie is pretty rebellious too as shown in the episode ‘The Outlaw Scrooge McDuck!’ where Louie refused to take Scrooge’s advice about being self-reliant and instead wanted Goldie to teach him how to be conniving in order to make his way to his dream of having his own company called Louie Incorporated.
This could all just be a coincidence. After all, as stated in the episode ‘Escape From The ImpossiBin!’, Scrooge gathered Della and Louie in particular because he wanted them to check his Money Bin’s defense system for any flaws since they were the 2 most cunning individuals he knew. But if it isn’t a coincidence, here’s what I think happened. As shown in the episode ‘Escape From The ImpossiBin!’, Scrooge and Ms. Beakley were pretty much acting as the ringleaders of the 2 groups and they were preparing to fight FOWL. And, as shown in the episode ‘From The Confidential Casefiles Of Agent 22!’, Scrooge and Ms. Beakley have fought FOWL before in the past. So, what I think happened is that Scrooge and Ms. Beakley decided to meet in private and had a long and intense discussion on how to handle FOWL. And during that discussion, Ms. Beakley was focusing more on the orthodox whereas Scrooge was focusing more on the unorthodox. And after a while of discussing and disagreeing on their next move, Scrooge and Ms. Beakley eventually decided that they should split up for now and gather particular members of their family to try to handle FOWL in their own ways.
