wait.. i’m literally on here or weibo almost 24/7 ( as you can tell lol ) but I feel like i missed something. i’m seeing clowning related to xz’s photos and how it looks like he is a groom and it’s a wedding photoshoot. the place is also famous for wedding shoots ( allegedly, idk. i’m not from there ) so turtles are imagining again. lol. freakin coincidence that wyb’s GRA photoshoot was done at a wedding shop. plus the “wedding outfits” for weibo night. which is all clowning and galaxy braining.🌌
Tumblr media
now, we’re joking around, like where’s yibo? he should be taking photos with his partner.
then i see comments that there is this one song WYB recently listened to. meaning, as recent as when XZ flew to singapore which is called 超人不会飞 (superman can’t fly) by Jay Chou. i know WYB and everyone else is a big fan of Jay Chou but the clowning comes from the timing of when he listened to it. let me get to that first.
here is the song if you wanna listen to it. 🎶
youtube
turtles are interpreting it as WYB longing to “fly” to where XZ is and be with him but he can’t because of all his work commitments. he wants to take a breather. thinking about what his life is and the constraints, and at times like this, when they spent days in Beijing, but now they have to be apart, it affects him even more.
however when i read the lyrics, it could also be because he can relate to what jay chou is singing about. here’s the english translation i found here. i have bolded the ones i felt like WYB relates too. literally no need for explanation. just read it. It fits with his status in life so much that it’s almost scary.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with how cpfs are relating this to cpn cause that’s just how it is. But sometimes, there are other reasons why they do what they do.
SO MY CONFUSION COMES FROM HOW THE HELL DO PEOPLE KNOW WHAT HE RECENTLY LISTENED TO. I can’t seem to dig up how or maybe it’s something we don’t talk about. I have never experienced this kind of tidbit related to them before so I wanna know the source. Or is this like the gaming cpn where certain people know and they will not divulge the boy’s account for privacy? if anyone knows, feel free to comment. If i find out in the future, I will share.

do you ever read scifi or fantasy in french? i am trying to read more sff that was originally published not in english but it's not easy to find 💀
I do! It’s not my favourite genre but one of my friends loves it so I read a bunch of SFF books every year ahead of her birthday to try and find a gift for her. I’m glad I do this because it’s allowed me to discover N.K. Jemisin’s Broken Earth trilogy which was amazing, and I don’t know if I would have picked it up otherwise!
Here are some French-language authors I’ve read or plan to read (unfortunately English translations are few and far between :( I bolded the names for which I found English translations—if you read in another language you can check out the non-bolded authors, there are often translations available in other languages long before English ones)
When it comes to classics you've got Pierre Boulle (Planet of the Apes of course; also Garden on the Moon, which is (deservedly imo) less known), Jacques Spitz (La Guerre des mouches—it was translated but not into English), René Barjavel (The Ice People, Ravage, Future Times Three—I read them a long time ago but I remember them as very sexist even by French classic standards), Bernard Lenteric (La nuit des enfants rois), Alain Damasio (La Horde du Contrevent—maybe too recent to be a classic but it’s everywhere. I was surprised to find no English translation!), Bernard Werber (I feel like he rehashes the same 3 ideas again and again but some of his earlier stuff was fun), Alexandre Arnoux (Le règne du bonheur), Jules Verne of course, Stefan Wul (Oms en série which was adapted into the film La Planète sauvage—Fantastic Planet in English. I like the film better!) And some I haven’t read: Georges-Jean Arnaud, Serge Brussolo (I liked his Peggy Sue series when I was in middle school but it spooked me so much I haven’t dared to pick up any of his SFF for adults, like Les semeurs d’abîmes), Élisabeth Vonarburg.
Newer authors: Estelle Faye (L’arpenteuse de rêves, Un éclat de givre—I tend to like her worldbuilding more than her plots); Sandrine Collette (The Forests—if you count speculative fiction as SFF) (I didn’t like it at all personally but others might), Jean-Philippe Jaworski (I really liked Janua Vera; didn't like Gagner la guerre but it was mainly because I have a low tolerance for rape scenes in fantasy books) (he’s about to be translated into English according to his editor), Stéphane Beauverger (Le déchronologue)
More authors I haven't yet read: Pierre Pevel (The Cardinal's Blades—I've been told it's "17th century Paris with dragons"), Romain Lucazeau (Latium), Laurent Genefort (Lum’en), Christian Charrière (La forêt d’Iscambe), Roland Wagner (La saison de la sorcière), Aurélie Wellenstein (Mers Mortes—I love the synopsis for this one), Magali Villeneuve (La dernière Terre, trilogy)
And non-French, non-anglo SFF authors: Maryam Petrosyan (my review of the Gray House last year was that I understood maybe 1/3 of it but I liked it anyway!), Hao Jingfang (haven’t read her yet), Arkady & Boris Strugatsky (idem), Jaroslav Melnik (I’ve read Espace lointain (originally Далекий простір) but didn’t like it much), Andreas Eschbach (The Carpet Makers), Walter Moers (I read The City of Dreaming Books back when I was still learning German and found it very charming), Liu Cixin (I loved The Three-Body Problem but The Dark Forest was so sexist it made me not want to pick up the third volume), Lola Robles (El informe Monteverde, translated as Memoirs of an Interstellar Linguist), Elaine Vilar Madruga (Fragmentos de la Tierra Rota), Tatiana Tolstaya (The Slynx), Karin Tidbeck (Amatka), Emmi Itäranta (Memory of Water, The Moonday Letters), Angélica Gorodischer (I’ve read Kalpa Imperial and found it only so-so but it always takes me a while to warm up to characters or a setting so I struggle with short story collections. I’ll still give Trafalgar a try) Also my favourite fantasy book as a kid was Michael Ende’s Neverending Story, I was obsessed with it. I re-read it in the original German a few years ago and it was still great.

Ok I'm trying Legend of Fuyao again. This time perhaps I will triumph! I left off like 2 years ago on ep 26 or so.
Refreshing my memory by skating thru ep 16
oh look, it's sidekick bro I never cared about. Pretty sure his role in the narrative is to be a drag on FL. And fighter guy! He's much more useful.
This period is where I previously began losing my patience with the show. A lot of story time and 16 episodes had passed and I wanted to see FL taking center stage, being a powerful threat. I wanted her to be saving her love interest approx as much as he was saving her. The opening in ep 16 is right back to a situation where I want to see FL beating ass and not Wuji to show up to save the day. Scram, future boyfriend! Ladies are FIGHTING. 🙅
(past me may not have known exactly what I wanted but the answer was A Journey to Love)
It was the whiplash - Oh cool, she's fighting alongside him! ...and then he's knocking her out to be his pawn again :/
But rewatching now, I think I was in the wrong mood. I am older & wiser! I can be patient. I have been promised a battle couple and Fuyao being awesome. I can wait. 😇
Watching the prime minister character be manipulated is entertaining. Fuyao is handling situation pretty well, actually. "The Earth Abdorbing Bell is back to its rightful owner. I've also found Xiaoqi. Why do I need to stay here?" THANK YOU for asking this very pertinent question, protagonist! Her rationale to stay.... doesn't make much sense, unfortunately. Because the narrative (er, the servants) requires it!
"Rest assured? I have been in this office for thirty seven years and I've never had a restful day." idk Mr Prime Minister, maybe u need a new job.
Ok, sneak out and leaving a fake corpse. Not a terrible plan. I especially like the part where u set the mansion on fire.
Prime Minister's foster son is so good looking he's making everyone else in this drama look bad. I like his sullen murder son vibes. Very Hao Du of Long Ballad. MDL says he's basically done nothing since. He was the ML in a 2020 drama that never aired. 💀
I really don't get Wuji. Why is he even involving Fuyao in things. I don't believe he has any romantic feelings at this point. If u can control this nation but can't control her, then... why? I suppose we have to go with ✨fate✨.
Dragon scale armor! Makes me think of the dark tale behind such garb in c-novel Heart Protection.
Why was the doctor randomly lurking around the PM mansion in this dark with a face mask? eh, a man's gotta have hobbies.
Ep 17
So Doctor had a secret mission, ran into Fuyao burning shit down out of happenstance. and now he's dragging her along. I vaguely recall this.
So. Many. Robes. Curtains. Twirling. the twirling I caaaaaaaan't AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Hope I wasn't expected to find any of that sexy. It was extra and hilarious as hell, though. I 100% understand why FL is so done with this dude and ready to go home.
Actually, one moment had real dramatic tension and sexual tension for me. The scene where the prime minister shows up with his soliders and ML is sitting on the bed, acting unbothered, and she's hiding under the blanket. Then slides her hand out and sighs to complete the act. 👌 👌
Then things get INTERESTING as they embark on misc mission things in secret tunnels.
She's like holy shit exploitative royals are trash.
And he's all.... well if I'm Like That would you still be hanging here with me. She sidesteps the question (as she should, since he has all the power). But then, could YOU give me what I want? And he seems intrigued, I presume because then he has something over her.. It feels like a TEMPTATION MOMENT.
Fuyao: nah j/k I'll get whatever I need myself
@dangermousie mentioned to me that Fuyao is very complete in herself. That's really intriguing to me, considering how so many of the characters seem tormented & controlled/restrained by a need to live up to a legacy or another person's expectations.
that CGI magic hamster tho
Totally forgot the reveal of them being ~fated enemies is this early. So she is supposed to break the seals and go to five kingdoms to do it. But he has a mission to STOP the girl w the 5 colored stone. Now he has a character & plot reason to keep tabs on her! ✔ (actually he has those reasons to simply KILL her lmao but protagonist halo, sorry my friend)
Love that she's not a sucker and won't agree to a bet where she has to be an obedient servant if she loses. Just take reasonable requests. But I wish she didn't just take him at his word that he's the one who can help her break her seal. He's a lying liar who lies!
I like that he's a bit uncertain/dubious about the legend that this girl will Bring About The End. Because that certainly sounds wild. Especially since he met her and she seems pretty normal.

episode 35 of the long ballad!! 😭
to be honest I’m more invested in Hao Du and Le Yan compared to Changge and Sun and like this episode!!
i can’t
hao du hiding behind the fields like some shy boy because he thinks leyan’s still mad at him.
Tumblr media
that entire scene and conversation between them. and then he suddenly stalks up to her and mini rants about how he’s unsure to act around her.
Tumblr media
and then leyan thanking him for letting changge go and all of a sudden he starts smiling again i– HAO DU IS SO PRECIOUS
Tumblr media
and omg him calling wei-i’m the most irrelevant character in the story-shuyu over so that leyan can confess to him after her asking him about confessing to someone you like. his face 😭😭
Tumblr media
*smiling through the pain*
and then the three of them go back to walk in the fields again, hao du trailing behind wei shuyu and leyan. and then leyan stops walking and is about to confess, hao du at the back being the third wheel.
Tumblr media
and then she looks at hao du.
Tumblr media
and hao du turns around and sadly walks away. brooooo
Tumblr media
broooo i–

Review of: The Long Ballad
Review of: The Long Ballad
Hello Everyone, So I just finished, The Long Ballad a few days ago and I needed time to compose my thoughts on this fantastic drama. I’ll try not to share too many spoilers but if I do, I am sorry lol.
Also, I would first like to clarify that I am reviewing the drama based from a Mahua. I AM NOT reviewing the Mahua as I tend to differentiate drama adaptations from its original story. I say this because I believe both the original Mahua’s/books and the drama adaptions are two separate entities and have different ways of showing the characters development, sceneries, plots, and because they always tend to be different than its original format. We are complex people who for some will appreciate different details written in Mahua or a book. So I believe no adaption could ever resemble as the original because what might be important for me could not be for you.

Summary of Drama:
The year is 626 C.E, and the realm and its political center Chang’an, are shaken to its core by the Xuanwu Gate Incident, a successful palace coup to take charge of the Tang Dynasty. A scheming prince leads the bloody coup and kills the family of Li Chang Ge during the raid, although she manages to escape. Now the prince has placed himself on the Imperial throne, and rules as Emperor Tai Zong. Li Chang Ge has her mind firmly set on revenge – and musters a powerful army intent on overthrowing the new Emperor. But her plans are thrown into disarray when she suffers an unexpected defeat against the armies of the Eastern Turkic Khaganate. The victorious General, Ashile Sun, decides to keep her in his service, making her his military strategist as he looks to pursue his own military goals. The duo forms a formidable military partnership. And over time, she finds herself falling for her captor – as he also starts developing feelings for her. (Source: Viki)
Main Cast:
Dilraba Dilmurt as Li Changge/Princess Yon Ning/Princess Mobei
Wu Lei as Ashina Sun
Zhao Lu Si as Li Leyan
Liu Yu Ning as Hao Du
Fang Yi Lun as Wei Shuyu
Geng Le as Li Shi min
General  Plot
Honestly, this is one of the best dramas I have watched in 2021. The cinematography is phenomenal, the soundtrack is breathtaking!! The overall plot’s build up does a fantastic job from start to finish. It’s not like most dramas where they go too slow and lag on the smallest detail, it goes on a decent pace, and it shows the personal development and progression of each character in the show. They all have a purpose and what they believe in which made their actions in a way tell the story within the drama. The characters in the drama are self-explanatory, there aren’t a lot of characters in which you need to keep tabs about.  And they aren’t pitted against each other or have love triangles or more which is a surplus because dramas tend to do that. The writing/script is very well written, it shows intelligence, leadership, strong will, and respect among the characters. Also I didn’t mind when the Mahua would appear because this was filmed around COVID and I can imagine they couldn’t have that many people in particular scenes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
   Characters
The main cast is Li Changge and Leyan who are two cousins in the drama. I honestly loved their relationship since there wasn’t any jealousy among them even though things go hectic, and Li Changge feels backstabbed with reasons known in the drama, she tends to overcome it and still has love for her cousin. Their relationship is like sisters, and both were protective of each other and helped one another when situations weren’t that great.  They both end up going through their own adventures (and sufferings) that shape their characters progression from start to finish. They show their weakness and strengths which makes them be leaders within their inner circle.
Li Changge is a princess with a witted sharp mind and military intelligence that shows resilience within the drama. You see this when she ends up finding out the truth about her parents and her uncle who she viewed as a father is a better leader than her own father. Due to her ignorance of not understanding the world of politics and the sacrifices people make along the way. She ends up realizing she wants to help the common folk and does a lot for the people of Tang and helps her uncle even though she battles with a personal grudge with him. Le yan is a timid, noble princess who wouldn’t hurt a fly. She always needed protection until she goes through her own journey that shows her the lives of the common people and ends up sticking up for them. She isn’t as naïve or stupid as they made her seem, she just didn’t explore the outside world, so she was oblivious to the hardships people dealt through during that time frame. I feel like it allowed her to see more than the politics from the world she had known. It allowed her to be able to protect and help the people and in a way help her father have a good reputation.
As for the two main leads, Ashile Sun and Hao Du, who are cold, intelligent, strong, men that show their own personal devolvement within the drama. We see Ashile Sun befriend the FL and save countless times and over time becomes protective of her and yearning for her. Ashile sun morality and perseverance is seen throughout the show, and he ends up being a decent man who also wants to help people not put them in misery.
He ends up questioning a lot of things within his own father and the other divisions (Spolier! His is Eagle division), but one thing about him is he will have loyalty to those he cares and protects. His nobility and leadership and intelligence shows gracefully with the FL without overpowering hers which is insightful. They both work together, and their main goal is to help people get back on their feet. Also, his relationship with his brotherhood I was so fond of. They loved and respected Ashile Sun and never questioned him even if Ashile Sun had doubts due to whatever was going on in their tribe. It showed the respect and their brotherly love amongst themselves. Eagle division in my eyes was top tier lol, they had everything due to Ashile Sun’s capabilities.
Hao Du on the other hand is an adoptive son of one of the emperor’s men, and he ends up doing everything his stepfather asks of him until he spends more time with princess Leyan. She ends up softening his heart due to them spending lots of time together. (they were so cute together). Hao Duo is very skilled in martial arts and because of that he must do things that might go against Leyan’s wishes and because of them spending time together, he shows her that isn’t a cold-hearted man. He ends up protecting her as well as his life depends on it. He embraces her kind and sensitive heart and just wants to love and care for her.
Tumblr media
Romance
The romance of this drama I appreciated for its slow burn romance, it doesn’t give you “fell in love at first sight b*lls*t. I loved the female’s lead and male leads love was supported by a foundation of trust, respect , admiration and protection . They are both independent individuals who made a great team and didn’t overshadow the other one. It’s also very trusting to see their relationship work when they both were on different sides.  The chemistry between the Male Lead and Female lead was just fantastic even though some say otherwise, I personally felt they had amazing chemistry.
The way the male leads eyes would just look at the female lead in an endearing and loving way just made my heart flutter. IMO, he showed more love than then female lead. I felt like the romance was carried more on him than hers. And it bothered me that there wasn’t more. (And regardless of being an independent person I’m pretty sure Li Changge would’ve had some love in her bones if she would’ve expressed it more). The SFL & SML (second female/male lead), had also a slow love romance and it was so cute to see their love also blossom. I could feel their chemistry and love and trust for one another and the SML just wanted to protect his highness. They showed a bit more love than the FL&ML.
Tumblr media
OST
The soundtrack to this drama is so soothing and breathtaking. I loved the melodies and it just fit naturally within the drama. Zhou Shen voice is beautifully singing within the soundtrack and the opening and closing songs by Zhang Bichen & Ji Wen Qi just makes you reminisnce of certain scenes. Also, Sa Ding Ding is one of the few artists on it and if you loved her in Ashes of Love, I’m pretty sure you'll love this one.  Liu Yuning (Hao Duo’s character) has a beautiful song as well which youll see is special everytime he is with Leyan.
Tumblr media
Overall
I would give this drama a rating of 3.5- 4.0 out of 5. And I will explain below on my dislikes why. But overall, the plot of the story, the characters and their relationships made this drama so worthwhile. Their chemistry on the screen just made you want to keep on watching more.  The cast played very well, even the older actors who are also very talented. I was very fond of the emperor of Tang he had this aura that even though you knew what he did was mest up, you couldn’t dislike him.  As I mentioned before, the main actors play convincing their roles and at no time do you see one stand out more than the other one. Both of them dominated their roles.
Dilireba is an amazing actress I have seen her work and honestly I am glad she got this drama. She plays such a bad ass independent woman. Wu Lei, looks absolutely amazing in this. After seeing his role in NiF (Nirvana in Fire), he has grown so much and he did so well for this role (even though there are critics saying he was forcing to be strong or didn’t look the part), I personally had no problem being convinced he was a Leader within his Tribe. I feel like his confidence just showed on screen and was meticulous showing what he thought Ashile Sun would do in his point of view. But I can’t deny he is such a hottie lol, He is such an amazing actor as well and I don’t think I could see anyone else play this character. He plays this fierce man who is a softie at heart. And at no time do you see their age gaps within the drama. I genuinely though he was older than she was. He was just that believable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What I disliked
Okay, the one thing that ticked me off about this drama, and I know people will say, oh the Mahua didn’t have any romance, (again I will say I see the drama as a separate adaption due to you never see anything genuinely being the same whether from book to movie or vice versa). Is after the slow romance between the FL & ML as well as the SFL &SML, there wasn’t anything more than that. I felt like because they had to cut down on episodes or had to rush for the plot towards the end, they ended up piling everything together and the romance laid very flat among the leads.
For the FL & ML, I could feel Wu Lei’s yearning loving eyes on Dilireba and I loved that in all but I wanted some playfulness flirting or some romantic gestures with some skin ship. There were little scenes where I felt that was needed. In my opinion, I honestly saw the love more on Wu Lei’s part than Dilireba and it annoyed me a bit. I understand she’s supposed to be a bad ass independent woman but I’m pretty sure she might have had her heart skip a beat the way Wu Lei’s eyes looked at her in that I love you and will do anything look.
Dilireba would often remove herself when they did have a few moments of skin ship and it just looked like she didn’t see him a romantic way. But as some people have pointed out, it could be because of the fans not wanting them to kiss due to their age gap which I find ridiculous because I have seen other dramas with major age gaps, and it gets hot in there. Or could be some have pointed out that maybe Wu Lei’s or Dilireba’s policy is no kissing but I’m pretty sure Dilreba has had kiss scenes before.
(Spoiler !) The bird kiss scene made me roll my eyes to the back of my head, that I had to laugh because the directors had initiated throughout the trailer and even the drama the kiss and romantic gestures only to be left with our imagination. Only wandering eyes, we got. Which I wasn’t mad too much cause Wu Lei did it for me but I wanted more than that. And that ending, forget it I assumed since they didn’t do anything romantic, they would at least show them together but again were left with our imaginations.
The second leads, on the other hands had more romance and hugging than the main leads. But they also didn’t show too much playfulness or flirty gestures. They had their moments where they could’ve had better communication or could have flirted more. At least they end up having a kiss scene. Their chemistry also worked very well on screen. I was always rooting for Leyan to have her prince charming cause she was such a sweet person. Hao Duo even though with a cold exterior was a very soft marshmallow who grew to care and appreciate Leyan. He saw the wonderfulness and personal growth through her own sufferings that made him go in awe.
Plus, the way that the last couple of episodes were rushed also bothered me. I understand no one wants to watch too many episodes (I have watched at most 63 lol) but it at least gives attention to detail which I personally don’t mind. I prefer to understand things and their context then for it to be rushed. Or they could’ve added something that reassured viewers of their future. These are the only things that bothered me.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
Even though with the lack of romance, I recommend this drama to anyone who likes action, adventure, martial arts, matured characters, independent turned healthy relationships, amazing friendships, and great wisdom to anyone. The scenery is beautiful, the music is very touching and soothing and the writing to the drama is on point. To see the development of each character, not many dramas can do that and in this drama it does a phenomenal job. It doesn't lag or overly exaggerate on the details. This made my adult heart happy. I really do hope in the future we get to see the main leads in another drama whether it’s modern, wuxia, etc. cause I’d love for them to be reunited and maybe add more romance lol. Thank you for reading my review and hearing my rant lol.

Let’s chat for a bit~
LYN: Hallo everybody, I’m Modern Brothers Liu Yuning. Welcome~
Comment: What a surprise. LYN: Isn’t it?
Comment: Why are you here? LYN: That’s the charm isn’t it. I come when I want to. This is my territory.  LYN: It’s been a long time since I last streamed. If I’m not wrong, the last time was the 18th? I feel like it’s been too long so I thought I’d come.
LYN: I’m actually pretty tired today- not trying to make you pity me, but I am a little tired. I got up pretty early- at 5a- for hair/makeup. When I finished up with work I thought it was a little early so I thought I’d come stream a bit. I’ve been getting up really early to shoot the drama lately. I’m a little sleepy- I might be streaming and then suddenly fall asleep in the middle. Like, “I’ll introduce you to a nice song today~ (and then) /snores/.” You’ll all be here watching me sleep.
~- Happy 1 Year Anniversary of The Long Ballad -~ - thanks everyone for the edits and posts they’ve made of Hao Du; says this is what he likes best about being an actor - that he is able to bring a character to life and have that character leave an impression on people and be remembered by them
- shows the ridiculous speed his chat-box is going at LYN: This speed is a little fast... even normal people would think so. Some people don’t even have anything to say, they’re just typing out “hahahaha.” It’s nice, though. It’s like we’re at a concert and everyone is screaming over each other. LYN: It’s okay even if I can’t read what you’re typing because... I can talk for hours on end just by myself. So what you type IS important, but it’s also not. HAHAHA. I can talk to myself for a long time.
- talks about how last time Yin Zheng and Zhu Xudan (and other celeb friends) came into his stream and gave him presents ($$), but he doesn’t stream for the money, so he asked weibo if they could turn off the gift-giving feature for him, and they did. LYN: It’s nice, because people have even criticized me for it, saying that I sing and act, AND also gain money from streaming?? And my fans have been very nice and explained that I don’t like when people gift me things- so they replied, “Then he should learn from YCY and turn the feature off.” I thought that was reasonable, so I did. But weibo was very good to me- because there used to be free gifts you could use to liven up the atmosphere, so now that gifts are gone they’ve opened up some special effects for me- like the strawberries. So when you type in “strawberry” or “liu yuning is so handsome”- I especially asked them for that one- then you can see the special effect.  - shows the speed of his chat-box again LYN: Look at this, everyone. Hey- if you all type the same comment, THEN I’d be able to read it. At this speed, that’s the only way I’d be able to read anything. How about you discuss it and when you want to talk to ask me about something, you can all post the same question?  LYN: I was kidding! (about posting “liu yuning is very handsome/sings very well”; bc that’s ALL they’re posting now) That’s about enough- let’s talk about more important things. I might not be able to stream so late. LYN: Thank you, weibo. They’ve controlled the speed for me. LYN: Stop spamming- if you do that too much, they’ll log your ID and then won’t allow you to comment anymore. Control your emotions, please.
Comment: Are you streaming tomorrow? LYN: Tomorrow? I’ll.... stream. LOL. No- I can’t stream EVERY DAY. I have other things to do. I was originally planning to go record a song today, but I didn’t feel like I was up for it, so I didn’t go. I thought I’d come here and chat.
- ppl keep wanting prizes out of him XD LYN: I’ll promise everyone- when I spend my birthday this year- my birthday was January 8th- on my birthday I’ll pick a figure from the cabinet behind me and raffle it out. That’s already the most generous I can be.
Comment: Lao-da, how come you look younger today? LYN: ... WHAT DO YOU MEAN?! I know I can’t play a middle or high schooler, but I’m still eligible to attend the May 4th Youth Day gala. LYN: The thing is, no matter how old you are, you can still PRETEND to be young. Between the makeup and the outfit, you can make yourself look younger. If you want to see me “mature” all I need to do is not shave for three days. But if you want to see me “young” it’s very easy. /grabs a pair of glasses/ Here we go- Oh. It doesn’t seem like I’ve gotten much younger, though. LYN: Usually when I went to shoot the drama or did some event, my makeup artist is more understanding of me. They’ve been with me three years after all. So when I have work to do the first thing THEY do is use a very light colored foundation. They know of the saying “一白遮三丑 (one white covers three ugly)” - and even though I have seventy “ugliness-es”, at least three of them of covered. Next they cover my eye-bags and wrinkles. Then- they always come early to my door and tell me to put on a face mask. So I always put on a face mask before I have to do my makeup- so that it sticks better. They’ll also get the beauty instrument that Reba gave me and make me use it for 5-10 minutes. So that when the camera starts rolling I’ll look lively and fresh. It’s a process. We haven’t even gotten to the actual makeup yet, but we’ve already spent an hour preparing for it. - talking about how for the drama (Floating World) he needs to wear ~Armani~ Foundation No. 13. No, this is not an advertisement, and Armani doesn’t need him to promote their products for them XD But was saying how when people saw him in the makeup, that he looks very... “textured”- so when this drama is over he’s going to take better/more care of his face/skin for the good of his future dramas. :p Comment: Does the makeup make you look older. LYN: That, and they put it all over my face, neck, and hands. While shooting I keep having to lower/move my head, and also it’s hot so I’m sweating- the foundation has already settled into the natural folds of my neck. It makes it look like 1. this person doesn’t like to bathe themselves and 2. they’ve grown wrinkles. LYN: I like it though, because as an actor, I hope that every role I play is different. I think it’s a unique and precious role- because it lets you see a different me from when I’m streaming. If I don’t have the acting chops, I might as well play around with appearances. At least I’m clear on this.
LYN: I saw someone asking about the drama- 狐妖小红娘 (Fox Spirit Matchmaker)- see? I can’t even get the name right, you think I can go?? But I saw the article- that said Liu Shishi-laoshi is the female lead, and that I was cast as the male lead? I’ll be honest I was quite happy when I read it. I was happy- I thought, “Wow, I can work with Liu Shishi-laoshi~” and then I saw the comments and there were some... muddleheaded individuals who were saying, “I’m looking forward to it!”  LYN: I saw this article and I screenshot and sent it to my group, asking them if this drama contacted us or not. Like, are they not even discussing things with me anymore? They’re just going to make the decision of my first male lead role without me? Were you going to tell me on my birthday, to give me a surprise? Tell me honestly. We don’t need surprises here, just give it to me straight. It’s all out on the internet anyway, you might as well tell me. XD But my staff told me they did not make any decisions for me, and perhaps it was a decision on the drama production’s side of things. LYN: But I looked it up, because I wanted to be prepared if the production ever DID come to contact me, and found out that the male lead role has already gone through a circle of potential actors already. I wasn’t the only one. I was happy for nothing. I thought that seeing a post where I was male lead and seeing comments of people looking forward to it was giving me some sense of acknowledgement. But I found out the comments on posts where OTHER people were named male lead were more welcoming. After all this talk I think it’s not about the male lead, but more of an acknowledgement of Liu Shishi-laoshi. LYN: As an industry insider, I eventually found out who they DID cast. On my part... I think there’s no more hope for me. So uh... let’s work together if there’s ever an opportunity for us in the future, Liu-laoshi. Comment: Who is it, I want to know. LYN: I can’t tell you. But as for working together... I think I still have a chance with the OST, though.  Comment: You want to say, but you won’t. LYN: I don’t want to say. The person they cast has a two character name. That’s all I can say. LYN: Let’s change a topic! In the end, don’t be happy for me about that drama- I wasn’t cast for it, and they didn’t even come to look for me.
LYN: The other day my idol Jing Tian laoshi came to see me on set. Lately she’s been working on... what’s it called? Le You Yuan- I’m sorry, I’m very bad at remembering names. But she came and a production-jiejie for that drama also came with her. I’m not the type of person who saves my words- I’m going to ask what I want to. So when I saw her I asked her if they ever considered me for the second male lead for their project. I just wanted to ask.  Comment: Who would ask so directly like that? LYN: I am exactly that type of person. It’s not a problem that they found Xu Kai for the male lead, but was I not good enough for second? Comment: Shameless. LYN: WHAT DO YOU MEAN??? Am I so pitiful in your eyes??? You think it’s shameful that I want to be Jing Tian’s second lead? :c OMG.  LYN: I know you’re joking around with me. Alright then. Today you “爱答不理 (love to ignore me)” but tomorrow I’ll make you “高攀不起 (reach high but never touch me).” LYN: I was joking around with them- but I think they did come to look for me, but I don’t know what happened. It just didn’t work out. It’s alright- only a matter of time. Who knows, maybe their drama will need someone to play a beggar. Three lines is enough. I happen to be wearing foundation no. 13, I could go cameo. It could count towards me working with my idol just once.
LYN: I only cameo in dramas of good friends of mine. Don’t think I go to cameo for just anything. Also, I don’t go for any money- they can’t offer that much for a cameo anyway- it wouldn’t be worth it even if I did accept. But think about it- if Le You Yuan really did want me for a cameo- I’m just saying this for fun, as a joke- if they did want me, and I went but didn’t accept any payment for it, the least thing they could do is offer me the OST, right? Think about it. People need to broaden their ways of thinking.  LYN: How else do you think I got all these OSTs? It’s all about the relationships- the jianghu isn’t about fighting and killing, it’s about the relationships you make along the way.
Comment: Ning-ge, aren’t you already famous? LYN: I'm not famous. I’m nothing. I’m just moseying along and that’s fine. I don’t even WANT to be all too famous. I just want to have steady work, and my fans. I can come stream when I want to, act a little, and when a drama airs I can gain a little more fans. It’s quite nice. We’re happy, right? I don’t need to be famous.
Comment: When’s your variety airing? LYN: That program.. as you all know- the pandemic is worsening. So recording has been put on hiatus. The last time we went we already recorded enough for two episodes. They’ve already contacted us saying that we will be starting production again soon- but it all depends on the situation. You know what I mean? It depends on the situation, we’re going on a day by day basis.  Comment: Will it air? LYN: Unless there’s no way we can continue filming, it will air, but probably be delayed. But then again- some programs are fixed for a time-slot and cannot be delayed. So in that case it will air in time, but it’s just that filming will be delayed. Comment: I feel sorry for the editing-laoshis. LYN: I think for one variety program, the editors are the most important. Whether a show gets to air or not all depends on them. If they give you more shots, then you have to send them that many more boxes of oranges.  Comment: How long have you filmed for? LYN: We went the once but recorded enough for two episodes. One episode for one day. Each day we recorded for 18 hours, and it’s cut down to two hour-long episodes. Every word is precious.
Comment: When does Zuo Bufan (Floating World) wrap? LYN: I saw some people saying this- I need to explain- some people think that because Zuo Bufan (Floating World) hasn’t wrapped yet, that it has negatively influenced what drama I will be in next. That’s not the case. It’s not because the time didn’t match up that I didn’t take that other job; they ended up using a different person. Also, the Zuo Bufan role is under a timed contract- I’m signed for up until mid-May. LYN: Because I am more familiar with the group and with Bai-laoshi, I had asked him previously- that if I had something else lined up, if we would be able to shoot my scenes first so I can leave the group a little early. But it turns out that the other job fell-through, so I decided we should shoot my scenes as was regularly scheduled. It’s not because I’ve been filming for so long (that I lost other jobs.) I have about 200 scenes in this drama- but I play “The World’s Greatest Swordsman.” How can he prove this? Just using his words isn’t going to cut it. What can he do? He fights whoever he sees. Obviously, they have no chance of winning against him- but even after he defeats them, they have to chat. Like, “You’ve already crossed 60 blows with me. That’s already impressive enough. Usually people don’t last 10.” So I don’t have a lot of speaking scenes, mostly I’m fighting. LYN: The previous drama- ALZ- I was a scholar, and I didn’t have ANY fight scenes. I was so happy to have shot a guzhuang drama that didn’t require me to ride a horse or fight. And then what happened. It balanced itself out with this one. If I’m not fighting, I’m riding a horse and chasing after someone.
Comment: Do horses still kick you? LYN: I don’t have a face that makes horses want to kick me. Not EVERY horse wants to. It was just that one horse- it has some psychological issues because it usually does all of the dangerous stunts; I can’t blame it, it’s very sad. But every other horse I’ve met is nice- the tamest they can get for more leading members of the crew. Also, I’ve learned and I always keep carrots handy. I used to give them cucumbers and stuff but I asked the trainers and they said horses like carrots the most. If I know I have a horse scene the first thing I do when I get to set is feed my horse four carrots. Comment: Are you still afraid of them? / Have you been so scared of a horse you cried? LYN: If they’re walking normally it’s ok- as long as they don’t run. If they run at me, I WILL cry.
Comment: Ning-ge, how come I think you and Daimi are more and more alike? LYN: So you’re saying I look like a dog.
Comment: So have you confirmed your next drama? LYN: I have. x20 Some of you may be worrying for me but I have work, don’t worry. Comment: Male lead? Second? Third? LYN: It’s not important. I’ll tell you- I MAY pick up a male lead role, and if I do it’s because sometimes the supporting characters don’t have enough lines/content and I don’t think they will satisfy me. In some dramas the supporting characters are more complete and have their own arc and story line; but in others they’re.... they lack presence. You know that feeling when every line a supporting character says is just to drive the lead’s plot further, even if doing so will be out of character for them? When you come to understand the character and their motives, you’ll find that sometimes what the script wants them to do is unrealistic. So I hope I can play characters that are more complete. A good script and a good character. For myself as an actor, I think those are the most important things to consider.  LYN: In my eyes, what makes a good drama is not just who the male and female leads are, but the whole cast and what they bring to it. Nowadays people only care about the leads and don’t care about any of the other actors. It’s like singing, also. You may know that I sing a song, but you don’t know who wrote and composed it. You may go to and enjoy someone’s concert, but you may never know who's back there playing the keyboard. But the thing you have to understand is that without these background players, you will never be able to see a complete/perfect performance.  LYN: You can’t undervalue everyone else just because you like only the leads of the show. I hope you don’t think this way either. It doesn’t matter- male lead, female lead, second leads or whatever- they’re not the most important. Well, they ARE important, but I think looking at the role still takes precedence. I’ve said before- I may accept a male lead role, but if one day in the future I find that the third or fourth supporting character in a drama is a good role, I will still accept it. Because I’m an actor. I came here to act, not compare ranks.
Comment: Looks like you’ve gotten tanner. LYN: I sure have, shooting outdoors all day. I’m very quick to tan. I wasn’t when I was younger but as soon as I got into this crew...  I tan fast.
LYN: I always say that my fans are different. This isn’t a compliment to you, I just hope that you CAN be different.  - advises his fans to please not start shit or attack others (his friends and costars and THEIR fans), even if they’re trying to defend him. LYN: Just let it slide. Let them say what they want. We’re having fun together in our little bubble, and let’s just stay here. There’s really no need (to attack others). LYN: I’ve told you before- I’m an adult. No one is bullying or taking advantage of me and if they are, I can take care of it myself. You don’t need to do anything for me. I just want you to be happy every day. I want your heads full of happy thoughts and dreams. Why do you think I stay up streaming all the time? I just want you to be a little happier. And if you’re watching my stream right now, at the least, you’re not lonely right? Somewhere out here, here’s a guy who may not look very handsome but is willing to sit here and chat with you. You might not like him very much, but he’s still here keeping you company, right?
--- q&a
LYN: Let’s change the topic. If there’s anything you want to ask me about, you can ask. As your “Cousin in Showbiz”, if there are any secrets about the industry you want to know, you can ask me that too. I will answer, within reason. LYN: I may not be able to stream as much later because soon I’ll be doing fight scenes all day and I’ll come back and be too sore to stream.
Comment: Is Ren Jialun handsome? LYN: Is that considered a secret?
LYN: I see everything you’re typing- asking me if certain people are married and things like that- I can’t talk about THOSE things! You’re asking me who some people’s boyfriends/girlfriends are- I can’t talk about that. ARE YOU CRAZY?? Are you  crazy or am I, to be talking about others like that??
Comment: What date in May does Heroes air? LYN: /speechless laughter/ I can only tell you this- the production and broadcast company don’t even know. Do you want me to divinate what day it will air?? It’s predicted- PREDICTED- to air in May. So don’t ask me, because I don’t know. What are you going to do? Set an alarm for the day it airs? Comment: What about the variety show then? LYN: It should air... isn’t it online already? I think it’s May 6?
Comment: Will you work with Zhao Liying-laoshi? LYN: I will. Of course I will. When there’s an opportunity, I hope we can.
Comment: Were you wearing lipstick at yesterday’s L’Oreal stream? LYN: You don’t have to say it so... femininely. It’s not “lipstick” it was a “lip color.”
LYN: Don’t keep mentioning people’s names. I can talk about them, within reason. But if you want me to talk about their gossip or how they are as a person, I can’t do that. Maybe for people I am very closer/familiar with, but I won’t.  LYN: Thank you for letting me know it’s the anniversary of The Long Ballad. Time has gone by so quickly- I didn’t even feel it passing. But it’s already been a year since CGX was released. I’m thankful for this crew, when the stream is over I’ll message the producer-jiejie and thank her. I’ll do a hand dance for her, too.  Comment: You made an apple. LYN: ♥ That’s not an apple! Apples are for horses.  LYN: I’m thankful that a lot of people may have started liking me because of this drama. Liking me is considered winning the lottery, not “falling into a pit.” It’s also fate. Everyone who started liking me because of this drama- then you’ve liked me for a year now, huh? You’re an old fan now.
Comment: You’re trending. LYN: Am I? [...] Last time I was also made trending because of you, and I thanked all of you and weibo for making it happen. Because honestly... the fact that I stream is a normal thing. I’m probably not like your idol who only streams once a year. I st ream 100 times a year. So the fact that I am able to make it into the trending list every time is really all thanks to you. I thank weibo for indulging me and I thank you all for engaging. If I wasn’t here to control the comments then you can sit here all day; in one hour they can bring up so many topics of conversation. But really, my streaming is an extremely basic thing, but each time you can always get me on the trending list, so I want to thank you a lot. It’s also motivation- for me to stream more. XD LYN: I’ve sung so many OSTs, been spokesperson for so many brands, acted in a few dramas and never made it to trending. (but his streams always do.) /sings awkwardly/ Comment: There are more and more people coming in. LYN: Yeah, because it’s trending and also at this time of night people are settling down- they’ve already eaten dinner, and anyone who went out for fun is already back. If they have nothing to do and didn’t go to the ktv then they’ve all come home to browse weibo for some news. They’ll see that I am streaming, and even if it’s a normal thing, they’ll come in to take a look. Our meeting is like fate.
Comment: Will the next time you stream be April? LYN: What else? It’s already March 31st. The next time I stream will be in April. That’s correct.
Comment: Ning-ge, why do your eyes look kinda purple? LYN: I have a face that asks to be beaten, so when I was walking on the street earlier someone punched me. They gave me panda eyes. Hey- “panda eyes”... you can call me the “male celebrity with panda eyes” in the future. LOL.
Comment: Will you have a break for the Qingming Festival (April 5)? LYN: Usually I would- I’d head back to Dandong and sweep the tombs, but this year is a bit more complicated. I’m afraid that if I go, I won’t be able to come back and continue to shoot the drama (bc of quarantine) and mess up the schedule. So I don’t think I’ll be able to go this year. Comment: When’s your next drama? LYN: After I finish up this one, I’ll take about half a month to finish up a bunch of songs I still owe people. I’ll probably start the next drama in June. Probably- we’re negotiating the contract now. Comment: Is it a guzhuang? LYN: ..... I won’t say yet. Maybe in a few days. ... Alright, fine. It’s a modern drama. You’ll find out when it’s time. Comment: The Dominating CEO type? LYN: No~ I already told you, I’m going to Yuan You- /oops/ Le You Yuan to play a beggar, remember? LYN: When the contract is finished and signed I’ll tell you how I got this job. All of my work comes to me in such mysterious ways. Really. So strange. I’ll tell you who to thank later. Comment: From a meal. LYN: No, ALZ was from a meal. Remember, I told you. But later the producer-jiejie told me not to spread that around, because it makes it seem like they make really arbitrary decisions about casting. I thought about it, and she’s right. But I also just want to say that producers aren’t idiots and they’ve met so many people, they already have in mind who is suitable for a role or not. If I wasn’t good enough, I’m sure she wouldn’t have chosen me. But I think she made the right choice (with me). Thank you, jiejie. - REALLY wants to spill the beans on how he got his next drama role- says it came from attending some event- but reconsiders and doesn’t say. XD LYN: It’s really so funny, but I’ll tell you next time.
Comment: Do you have any “commoner” friends? LYN: There’s no “common” or “not common” here. I’M common. Think about how you got your friends- 1. classmates, 2. neighbors, 3. co-workers. I got out here early, so all of my friends I got to know because they are my co-workers. Now in this industry, all of my friends are either actors or singers. Comment: Internet Friends. LYN: Yeah, I have you too. So I want to share my fun stories with you, my friends. Everyone who is watching my stream right now is my friend. Right fam?
LYN: Is there anyone in my stream who has trouble understanding what I’m saying?  Comments: Sometimes there are words I don’t understand. // I understand what you MEAN. LYN: Everyone’s okay, right? People from Shandong can understand? /starts saying things with a Shandong dialect/. Yeah, because I’m from that region. Even though I speak with a little of an accent it’s still okay, right?  Comment: Learn the Tianjin dialect. LYN: My language skills aren’t very good. I can’t learn. I’ll try to use Standard Mandarin as much as possible.  Comment: Learn the Beijing dialect. LYN: /laughs/ Do you want to hear a Beijing rap? [..] LYN: I care about the customer service, so if hearing my accent was too difficult for you, I would have switched over to standard.
Comment: Sing “One Love As Always”. LYN: I’m not in a great condition today. If I were able to sing I wouldn’t be here and would have gone to record an OST. I’ll sing for you when I feel better. Comment: How about learning how to dance? LYN: I know a lot of you all want me to be the best at everything, but dancing really doesn’t suit me. People have to have their limits. They can’t do everything. I can sing, dance, act, stream- that’d be too amazing and I can’t handle it. I think just focusing your time on your known talents is enough. I don’t have very good coordination- my small brain isn’t developed enough. Comment: You legs are too long...
- sets up for a bathroom break LYN: Can you hear my neighbors fighting? Oh, my mic is too good at filtering out the background noise, you can’t hear it. My neighbors are fighting, I must go over there. Wait for me. I’ll be right back.
Tumblr media
LYN: It’s alright, they were just watching a movie. What can I do? Tell them to turn it down?? I’m always in my house yelling and singing so I can’t tell them to turn it down. I’m sure they don’t want to see me, either.
LYN: I heard back from the producer-jiejie for The Long Ballad, she congratulated me on the anniversary. Sometimes I feel like acting in a drama is not just that- I find it really meaningful. I’ve played a few roles already, but Hao Du is really special. It’s an odd sense of honor/pride. For example, like if ZBC sings “The Direction of Light” on some stage, the producer-jiejie will always send a message and say, “The Long Ballad yyds.” So I reply to her, “I can’t sing “One Love As Always.” XD Or else she’d want me to sing it. But what I’m trying to say is that it’s not only just a drama for us- it’s something very meaningful.  Comment: You really replied to her like that? LYN: Do you think I would?? I was joking.  LYN: I have feelings for every role I play- as an actor I think it’s really fun. Every role you play- you will have feelings towards it- some shallow, some deep. For me, I will never forget them.  Comment: Why won’t you sing “One Love As Always”? LYN: It’s a little more of an emotional song- it’s not proper for an event, because it’s not like they’re there to listen to your concert. They’re going to pick songs that are a little more lively.
- says that even after he finishes streaming, and after his classes and his nightly routine, he’ll take some time to go back and read the comments from people who have watched his stream. LYN: I see a lot of people say that when they’re watching my stream they’re really sleepy. But right after I stop streaming, they're full of vitality. Another things is that after I stream people are so happy, they don’t want to sleep. They want to chat some more.  LYN: Also what makes me happy is that most of the people who watch my stream are just regular weibo users. And I see a lot of fans of other people come to watch my stream, too. I’ll open the topic to see what everyone has to say, and it’s all pretty nice things. All these things give me motivation. I’m glad that I’m welcome. I know it may not be very meaningful, but I hope that at least you could have gained companionship. I’m also happy when I see fans of other people compliment me and also offhandedly say, “If only my idol could also be like this, it would be so nice.”
Comment: What’s Zhao Liying’s next drama? LYN: LOL. Are you just here to get insider information from me? I think it’s already all over the internet, though. I saw it, at least. You didn’t? I mean, of course I KNOW, but I can’t go around saying it. Should I just change my channel into a tabloid?? Every drama has it’s own schedule, and I can’t go messing it up for them. LYN: If you want to know, add me on WeChat and send me $10. Comment: Ning-ge, what’s your ID? LYN: Life up your QR code, I’ll scan you. Come on. LYN: Liying-laoshi is really nice, though. She is always introducing work to me, and wanted me to be in the drama she was working on. But the timing really just didn’t work out, otherwise this time I really would have been able to work with her. Hopefully there’s a next time.
Comment: How come there’s no cartoon today? LYN: I lost my childlike innocence. I am no longer young, so I don’t want to watch anymore.  LYN: No- the frame is too small, it doesn’t fit. Today’s stream was a little sudden, and the table I bought for it hasn’t arrived yet.
Comment: What’s with the song? LYN: This song is Shanghai Disney’s theme song, called “Magical Surprise” sung by Modern Brothers Liu Yuning. Shanghai Disney is a place full of happiness. No matter if you’re male or female, old or young- when you’re there you will attain happiness. It’s a wonderful place. When you go you will experience a magical surprise. Comment: Is this Jing Xiang’s (?) voice? LYN: This song was sung by Liu Yuning. Do you know LYN? He’s a singer. He’s started acting recently. Do- Do you know him? If you don’t, go take a look at the trending topics!
Comment: You don’t know LYN? He’s a professional streamer. LYN: What nonsense is that?! I’ve spent four years to prove that I’m a singer and an actor, and you’re saying I’m a professional streamer!? You can say that my streaming is professional, but not that my streaming IS my profession. I’ve told you- in terms of professionalism, being a chef is my profession. Singing, acting, and streaming aren’t my profession; because I only have a certification for being a chef. Comment: You didn’t graduate high school? LYN: I did. It was a career school. I learned two years and had one year of practical experience. But I don’t know why they made us pay for that year... A lot of people think that maybe the people who go to career schools don’t have a very high education. Of course, I think being well-educated is very important. I want you all to study, go to a good college, and great a great job. That’s my wish for you all. BUT! On the other side of things, I don’t think college is the ONLY way to go, you know? Some people are suited for schooling and some people aren’t, like me. When I was in school I couldn’t absorb anything and my teacher would make me leave the classroom. I couldn’t pay attention so I would hum songs and my teacher would tell me to get out so I don’t disturb my classmates.  LYN: Honestly, my home situation wasn’t the greatest, so I thought if I couldn’t learn in school, I might as well so something so that I didn’t starve. There’s an old saying - What profession can never let you go hungry? You can’t starve a cook. I was afraid of going hungry, so I went to learn how to be a chef. I was my class’s rep in the English course, too! I was checking people’s homework like, “This “noodle” isn’t spelled correctly.” I didn’t take English seriously in middle school, but here I am being the class rep in chef school! I have my homeroom teacher to thank for that, because they specialized in English. LYN: So let me sing a song for you in English! :) - Lemon Tree [t/n: I’m sorry Ning-ge, I laughed.] LYN: Someone’s out here spamming “sounds bad.” First of all- do you not have friends in real life? Or are you small and weak in real life and online you’re aggressive? If it was just one time, it would have been fine but you keep on spamming it. Your words can influence my future work with OSTs- because I won’t have any. I think ending one person’s way of life is too cruel. Listen up- you can do whatever to get ahead in life but not ending another person’s way to make a living.
LYN: Don’t think that when I’m streaming I’m high and mighty- actually in real life I’m small and helpless. When I go out with friends, I’m the one who talks the least. Some of them tell me how nice it would be if I actually talked as much as I do when I’m streaming. But some people don’t know me as well, and think that when I’m not talking it’s because I’m unhappy. Then I have to actively explain that when I stream I’m a little “crazy” but I’m not actually like that in real life. Then they understand, and say “Right- if you did talk that much, you really WOULD be crazy.” LYN: I’m able to be like this when I’m streaming because no matter how much you yell at me- I can’t hear it. But in real life you could be yelling at me and pointing fingers straight into my face. LYN: When I stream I hypnotize myself, and tell myself that everyone who comes to watch all love me very much. No matter what I say, they will think I’m right. No matter what I sing, they’ll think it sounds good. It gives me a lot of confidence, and when you’re confident you can talk a lot. When you’re not confident in you rself you talk less because you don’t know if what you’re saying is right or wrong, or if people would even care to listen.
Comment: Do actors get weekends? LYN: No. Not only are there no weekends, there isn’t a day or night. If it’s night time in the drama, it’s usually filmed in the daytime. Scenes that are filmed inside rooms- where you see the “sunlight” come in- those are filmed at night. There are no rest days in acting. Even if you’re sick- if you’re scheduled to shoot that day, you’re going to have to go. Unless it’s an emergency. At least that’s what I do. Because I know how much money just one day costs the production company. If you don’t go, there’s nothing for them to shoot. I think most actors are like this- there are practically no rest days and if you’re sick you still have to work.  Comment: Will rain effect the production? LYN: Yeah. If we’re shooting outdoors and it goes from sunny to raining- that’s going to be a problem. There are two ways to fix this: 1. change your plans and 2. wait for the rain to stop. Once we went to shoot a fight scene and got two cameras in before it started pouring rain. I suggested to the director we change it to a rainy fight scene- that’s pretty impressive, too. The director said it was no problem, but the thing was that there was another scene elsewhere that was supposed to take place at the same time as this one. The time was the same- but it would be raining in one location and not in the other, which would make it seem like we weren’t in sync. So we waited for the rain to stop. Phones nowadays are so amazing- there are apps that will estimate when the rain will stop! We started shooting at 8p, and the app said the rain would stop at 10p. So I asked the director what our plan was- he said to wait the two hours or so, and the best thing would be if I sat in my chair and prayed. Pray for the rain to stop. I don’t think my prayers would be very effective against this. It wasn’t just a light rain- it was storming- there was lightning and torrential rain pour. I told him I didn’t think the rain would stop, and that we should try filming something indoors in the meantime, but he wanted to wait. After about half and hour I think he figured the rain wasn’t letting up so we wrapped for the day. So those are the two options... but if it’s a light rain, we could set up a tent. One of the scenes in The Long Ballad took a week to film- you think it didn’t rain in that time? It did. We set up a tent.
Comment: Do you want to act in a xianxia drama? LYN: There’s no genre in particular that I WANT or don’t want to try. There’s just one that I might try to stay away from and that is- pure romance. I’m not saying they’re /bad/- because a lot of my friends are in those types- but I myself don’t really want to be in them. LYN: It’s just.. I don’t know how I would act in them. I just don’t have the confidence.  LYN: I can do xianxia dramas, but I haven’t yet. I have received scripts for xianxia dramas before, but I’m thinking that if I have the choice, I want to shoot a few more where I can understand what I’m saying. My imagination has its limits. If you tell me that my previous life was that of a cook- and before that I was a guqin-playing fairy- and before THAT I was a little kid who sold bread on the streets... I’ll be confused. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with that information or how I’m supposed to act.  LYN: I’m curious. I WANT to act in one, but I’ve never encountered one. So I don’t know what I’m supposed to do. I’m sure when the time comes- when I have the job- I’ll figure it out.
Comment: Is it hard to memorize the script? Are there any secrets to it? LYN: Memorizing the script is like memorizing a textbook. There’s not really any secret to it, you just have to understand what you’re reading. It depends on the director, too. Some directors don’t want you to stray from the script for even ONE word. Never any of the directors I’ve worked with, though- I always heard this from friends. If there’s a line that reads: “You must be a fool. Ha. Ha.” There are two laugh sounds, so you have to laugh twice. This is just an example. The reason why is... I don’t know. Well, maybe it’s because they fear that the script isn’t complete. Just in case they aren’t able to cut the scenes together correctly. LYN: As for me, as long as I get the general meaning and logic of the script I can say my lines well. They may not be exactly like how it’s written, but it comes out okay. There was a longer line once... “When I was young...” /trying to remember it/ “I hadn’t been in the sect for very long.... and I was bullied by my senior brother...” “Every day, he wanted me to...” /stops trying/ My memory is too good! /suddenly spews a very long line of dialogue from his drama/
LYN: Heroes is about to air- my group went to check out some clips of it and sent them to me. I think I did a pretty good job with the voice acting. So I think that as long as I am able/allowed to voice my own characters, I will. Comment: Do you have a lot of scenes in Heroes? LYN: The most I’ve shot so far, yes. I think it was around 360? That’s quite a lot. The drama I’m shooting now, I have around 200. ALZ was just under 200. LYN: When I first got the role of Bai Choufei I asked the production company how many scenes I had, and they told me it was less than 300. I was happy, because I didn’t want to be wasting my time. So if I could shoot more scenes in the allotted time, then I would. Then when I finally started shooting the scenes I got curious and asked specifically how many? They said 298. That’s less than 300 alright. But later, as we kept filming the director- because there is a script, but the director will also go over the materials and create his own understanding of the characters and events- during the course of the shooting, kept adding scenes. It doesn’t stray from the novels at all, there’s just TOO MUCH content- he took a bit of each character’s story line to incorporate into the single drama. Let me clarify- he didn’t only add scenes for me, he added scenes for ALL the actors.  LYN: This isn’t a very... action-driven plot, that comes at you hard and fast. The beginning of this drama takes time to set up a lot of backstory, and then all of a sudden you get into it.  Comment: If he added scenes, did you get more money from it? LYN: Why do you have to make everything about money? I’m not the type of person who is so poor that all he thinks of is money first. The director added scenes because he looked well upon me, and the others. I don’t have any resources and didn’t “buy” him off- he just got so excited about the drama and made it a little more abundant. They don’t pay us more- we’ve already negotiated before signing. What am I supposed to do if they say they wrote more scenes for me, and asks if I would like to play them out? Say no?? I’d be crazy.
Comment: Between singing and acting, which is more important to you? LYN: This questions sounds so much like.. a trap. There are a lot of fans here. Of my songs, of my acting, of my legs- LOL. I don’t think either is more important than the other. What’s important is that I have work in either one. If you want me to act, I will put all of my effort into acting. If you want me to sing, I will take responsibility for it and sing it with the emotion you want from me. It’s all the same. In my mind, I think of myself as a singer. But from the perspective of whoever is hiring me, what I am may change.
Comment: When’s ALZ airing? LYN: It should come out this year... if you calculate it, add a year to the wrap date, plus or minus a couple months. The Blue Whisper, which came out recently started airing fairly quickly, because Director Zhu’s works are all fast. Director Zhu- who I’ve worked with this time- puts a lot of work into the drama before we start shooting. He thinks of everything from the script and storyboard that he wants and so when we get around to shooting the scenes it all goes very smoothly. He’s very good at editing while we’re shooting. It’s a rough edit, but he’s already cut 70-80% of what he wants and there’s a very quick pace in post-editing. He creates things very quickly but efficiently.  Comment: Have you watched it? LYN: I haven’t. I don’t want to. I’m a little sad because the 2nd male lead was originally going to be me. It’s a missed opportunity. I was filming Zi Chuan at the time, and ended up not being able to take the job. Not that they were SET on me- I’m just saying that I was in the lineup of potential actors for that role. The timing just didn’t work out.
Comment: Have you done the voice acting for ALZ? LYN: Not yet. It’s still in editing. Usually the voice-acting is one of the last step. You have to get the story ironed out first before you can do the music, special effects, and voice acting. It’s still way too early for this drama.  Comment: Are you voice acting for Zi Chuan?  LYN: 60% chance we’re using original standing audio for Zi Chuan. We’ll use 60% real-time sound and then make up the rest later. [..] The hard thing about it is that there’s a high standard for sound quality. But in Hengdian... we could be shooting our scene, while a neighboring crew is slaughtering a pig or something.  Comment: What happens when you’re voice acting and find that you didn’t act well? LYN: What else are you going to do? Cry? It’s normal to be disappointed in your acting. This profession will leave you with a lot of regrets. People are always improving, so looking back on past works will leave you disappointed and thinking how you could have done it better. If you have good dialogue, your acting will be good. Sometimes someone’s acting can be improved with the voice act! /gives an example/ You can always try to make up for it somehow.  LYN: I’m not speaking as a professional, but as an outsider. These are just my experiences. The way I explain things are very ridiculous, insubstantial, and unprofessional; but this is just me sharing my thoughts on these things to the people watching my stream.
Comment: If you can see this, touch your hat. LYN: What are we doing, sending secret signals? I’ll pick my nose. I saw you, I’ll pick my nose.
Comment: Ning-ge, are you LYN’s anti-fan? LYN: I’m just thinking if I diss myself first no one else will be able to diss me any worse.
Comment: I want to see you in an idol drama. LYN: The thing is- whether something counts as an “idol” drama or not is very simple. It just depends on if the actors are good-looking or not. If most of the actors are good-looking, you can get away with calling it an “idol” drama. But if all the actors are ugly, you’ll have a harder time of it. So this phrase in itself, “Liu Yuning in an idol drama” is flawed. If you think I’m handsome then all the dramas I’ve acted in should be counted as “idol” dramas. So this just proves that you still don’t approve of my visuals.  LYN: What I’m shooting right now isn’t a “gu-ou” (guzhuang ouxiang) drama. Take the “ou” out. It’s just a gu(zhuang) drama. Because I am very ch-ou (ugly).
LYN: Oh, it’s already 11p. I really should stop streaming now. I’m afraid that if I don’t hit the breaks now, I really won’t be able to stop myself and I’ll stream past 12a. So, it’s about time now. Alright. If you haven’t yet subscribed to my weibo yet, please do so. I am Modern Brothers Liu Yuning. A lot of people may not know me, or may know OF me but have never watched one of my streams before. Since your’re here, it’s fate. Don’t miss the next time I stream and subscribe to my weibo. You can come the next time I stream. Thank you for the trending topic today. Thank you for spending time with me. Thanks for staying with me until the closing. Tomorrow is Friday so you may have work or school, but I hope everything goes well. I hope you had a wonderful night. It was great to have you all. I’ll see you the next time. Good night~
LYN: Since it’s the one year anniversary of The Long Ballad, I’ll wear these glasses and sing you a song. - /sings Sa Ding Ding’s The Long Ballad OST, If You Return/ - starts off normally enough... and THEN. HA-AAAH~! AHHHHH!  LYN: Just trying to convey how tragic and miserable the story is... The highlight of this song is really the chorus. Let me sing it again and then I’ll go. LYN: Good night everyone!
[[* There are now two more streams out- one 25 minutes (he didn’t really get to do anything before he was called to set) and another 4 hour one. :’) I’ll work on those next... ]]

hey so uh, it's 110% Not Your Job, but can i ask for like a crash course on these chinese bl series that are everywhere around me but i don't know them. like i'm familiar with the untamed or however many names it has but i'm seeing two or three more???? help please if you can thank you
hello!! oh no worries, i happened to be looking for a distraction too so this was timely hahaha although it’s a pretty broad question since there are so many new live adaptations coming out (and some which have already come out which are featured as bromances), but let me see if I can like round this up for you a little.
*i may be giving you a bit more than you need or like irrelevant stuff, but i guess i’m bound to hit something hahaha
Okay so the chinese BL series you’re talking about is The Untamed, and since you said you’re familiar I won’t get into it in detail, BUT just for like flow’s sake:
The Untamed (Chen Qing Ling) is based on the danmei (BL) novel written by MXTX, called Mo Dao Zu Shi (and yes however many like English translations to this title there is), or MDZS for short. You watched the live-action, and there’s like a lot of other versions of it e.g. the anime, the chibi anime, audio dramas etc. etc. the list goes on. In case you still haven’t seen any of those, just glance through this masterpost made by @the-social-recluse - In any case, right now everything is sort of already out EXCEPT:
MDZSQ - chibi donghua, cutest shit you’ll ever see
More MDZS merch
Some teasers from MDZS mobile game which has been one year and developing
Tumblr media
Now moving on to other BL series floating around so frequently - MDZS is the second book that MXTX wrote. So there’s SVSSS (The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving-System), which is also called lovingly by others in the fandom by Scumbag System/Villain in short, this is MXTX’s first danmei novel. Right now if you’ve seen this on Tumblr, it’s the anime (donghua) version - 10 episodes only for Season 1, available on WeTV with subs, finished airing like a few weeks ago. Translations of the novel are definitely out in full somewhere.
An absolute mess, but an organized one
Tried to do a manhua but failed
Everyone thought the donghua wouldn’t air on time either (it has a history of dropping development halfway) but it did
Would probably be the most entertaining if ever dealt with a live-action
Tumblr media
And then there’s arguably, the most beloved child out of all three novels (at least right this moment) - TGCF (Tian Guan Ci Fu, or Heaven Official’s Blessing). This is the third and so far last (???) danmei novel MXTX has written, main pairing invented love. Strawhat-wearing scrap collector smiley angel with devoted kid-turned-adult-turned-ghost-king who follows smiley angel for like many years because he loves him. Anyway, if you’re seeing this, once again on Tumblr a lot, it’s the donghua version you’re seeing. Still airing, I think we’re midway through the whole season, the yelling starts Saturday (Asia time zone) and then extends into Sunday, sometimes Monday.
There’s like a god-tier Eng translation in full for TGCF by Suika
There is a manhua for this as well, only like 45 chapters in, but the time Jan/Feb 2021 rolls around, the donghua would have overtaken the manhua progress on the storyline HAHAHA
Apparently the director/production team who did CQL/The Untamed managed to get the rights to filming its live-action, but heh nothing much about that just yet aside from casting rumours and fans worrying that the casting will be done wrongly and also that they won’t be able to do justice to the story.
Tumblr media
Alright now that we’ve more or less cleared MXTX and what everyone is hyping over (for good reason), let’s move on to the other CHINESE BL stuff you could be seeing (although I feel like you might not actually be asking about this), and these will all be live-actions (I’m also only clearing SOME of this year’s stuff, so none from before 2020, don’t ask me why I didn’t leave Guardian or SCI up here):
✨✨✨ Already aired, done and dusted or maybe ongoing, just ones I see on my dash and notifs so I definitely am biased ✨✨✨
The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty (Cheng Hua’s Fourteenth Year) - Many episodes, much bromance, base novel is gay af, but live action is cute af. Read more here and full translation is not yet done I think
My Roommate is a Detective - THIS IS A SPECIAL MENTION. NOT BL. Doesn’t even have like a book to go along with it, it’s just I’ve seen people getting into this again and creating content, so idk, imma just leave this here. It ain’t BL but it got the most glaring BL-esque relationship I’ve ever seen in my life. You’ll get what I mean if you watch it
The Lost Tomb Reboot - AGAIN another special mention, because many handsome young-ish men who you know, head into tombs, much bromance. Based on a huge series of novels, totally not BL, but as always with like a lot of men put into one story, ships happen. This year as well, in case you’ve seen it floating around
✨✨✨  Upcoming Chinese BL live-action adaptations, confirmed + casting + filming. You may have seen some of these because like posters were recently released etc. - As far as I know these are all slated for 2021 ✨✨✨
Faraway Wanderers (Tian Ya Ke) - A danmei novel by Priest, filming wrapped up, should be airing soon. Leads are pretty cute, although I’m sure they’ll turn this bromance. One of the male leads is known for a lot of period web dramas, and Gong Jun, the other male lead, is known for more contemporary modern dramas, but damn Gong Jun’s jawline
Winner is King (Sha Po Lang) - Another danmei novel by Priest, filming wrapped up recently as well if I recall? Posters recently released, and this is arguably Priest’s most famous and popular danmei
Immortality (Hao Yi Xing) - A super popular danmei novel called 2ha or The White Husky and His White Cat Shizun by Meat Bun. Filming also... wrapped? I think, because posters came out the next day and everyone from Earth to Pluto went mad, definitely one you should look out for next year spring i think, but I’m pretty sure there’s gonna be a hell lot more teasers, posters etc. coming up and then half of danmei Tumblr will probably go into cardiac arrest
The Society of Four Leaves (Zhang Gong An) - Ehhhh I think this hasn’t yet been filmed but casting was recently confirmed (contentiously).  Concept posters are up though. This technically isn’t classified officially as a BL. There are no CPs officially in the novel, but apparently it’s very like idk flirty etc., also slated for next year
*There are a few more by Priest, e.g. Liu Yao, but no concrete news that I’ve seen (by now like at least 60% of her danmeis either have a live-action contract or a donghua contract or both lmao)
✨✨✨  Upcoming Chinese BL donghua adaptations (2021-ish). All by Priest✨✨✨
*Throwing this in just as a by the way thing, because these are also recent news (these two weeks). There might be more but I haven’t seen anything yet personally :D
Imperfection (Can Ci PIn) - Space AU, the novel won like two national literary awards if I recall like last year? Anyway a brief trailer recently came out last week I think, and main lead is handsome af, and once again it’s space and space wars so it’s pretty cool
Silent Reading (Mo Du Zhe) - Novel is called Mo Du, and honestly I think the donghua has been like teasing fans for like idk years, but it looks like we’re finally getting to the donghua as the team previewed the first ep like... two weeks ago live to an audience? Modern crime thriller thing, there’s a masterpost going on Tumblr
Lie Huo Jiao Chou - Another Priest fan favourite, a historical + modern danmei combination. Much angst from what I’ve seen, but donghua teaser looked good also, released also last week
---
anyway hopefully some part of this or at least one part answers your question? if not, just send me another ask or like, DM me hahahaha

WIP Game
thank you for tagging me @hils79 ♥ also going to blame this one on @s1utspeare whose wips i love to death. you have such amazing ideas ♥
Rules: Posting a list of current writing works in progress. Feel free to ask me for info on any of them, whether snippets of writing, plot details, main characters, etc. Send me a title listed below and I’ll share something related to it. ;)
have to say that after i finished my liu sang oneshot i haven’t been writing that much. uni has hit me like a truck and i’ve been super busy and too tired to even think about words. but i have hazy images and a strong will. maybe this time period is just me working on stuff in my head and figuring everything out, who knows.
but here’s a couple of wips i have in my folders:
forgotten, recalled (working title) - my pingxie reincarnation au that happens during the events of ultimate note but has slowly been growing beyond that too. includes two past lives on top of their current one.
bloodplay (working title) - the beast au where i try to make sense of whatever it was that was going on with xiaoge during the end of tlt2. includes a lot of blood and eating of raw meat and hunting images and maybe just. sex stuff (help me)
my liu sang fic that i have not touched in ages but feel like i still want to write. or at least snippets of liu sang and bai haotian plus liu sang in the middle of pingxie and then with pangzi
journey for us (working title) - thoughts about the main trio in jatn and how they may or may not be in love with each other (pls don’t ask any snippets of this bc i have basically nothing to give)
in the shadow of the mountain - my thoughts on the love triangle in the long ballad. i loved haoyan to bits and then ended up falling for wei shuyu instead. they could work as a trio and i have many thoughts on that especially from wei shuyu’s pov (also if it’s not obvious, hao du is the mountain)
my heihua fic that happens in the same universe as binding but before those events (aka hei xiazi’s thoughts on death, immortality, love, and children)
i will not name these as wips but i have a couple of thoughts on a pingxie vampire au plus i always think about my and @ashenlights‘s dmbj cultivator au very fondly and am up to sharing anything about that
none of these wips are that much words quite yet as they are simple images and vibes in my head. am trying to focus on the reincarnation au and sorting out all the details but it’s going very slowly. i am up for any thoughts however ^^
tagging: @i-am-just-a-kiddo @rose-of-tori @foxofninetales @inessencedevided @laireshi @humanlighthouse (no pressure ^^ and some of you might have been tagged already so sorry about that)

he is psychometric: lee ahn x yoon jae in. on paper this should have been the angstyiest couple to ever angst, in reality they're just two cutie patooties who can both build snowglobes and find dead bodies in suitcases together. the range!
flower of evil: do hyun soo x cha ji won. give me the married couple that power jogs together on sundays with a huge side of murder
just between lovers/rain or shine: lee kang doo x ha moon soo. take the classic "childhood connection" trope and make it tragic. this is pretty much the essential Hurt/Comfort/Healing ship, and the drama 100% rides on it (in a good way!)
im having a hard time picking a #5, but let's go with extraordinary you: eun dan oh x haru. kyung whomst
or one spring night: yoo ji ho x lee jung in
bonus, the ship deserved better:
the long ballad: princess li leyan x hao du. i didn't like this drama as a whole, but i watched all of their scenes! gentle princess of the people and murder bodyguard with a huge repressed crush, give it to me!!
sweet home: yoon ji su x jung jae heon. this show knows what it did
oh my venus: john kim x kang joo eun. so ji sub and shin min ah had amazing chemistry and you cant help but feel it was a little wasted on this drama's storyline
bonus x2: The Bromance
bridal mask/gaksital: lee kang to & kimura shunji. one of the best/most interesting dynamics i've seen in a kdrama. cat vs. mouse, except you don't really know who's who at a given time and allllll the dysfunctional bromance you can shake a stick at
beyond evil: lee dong shik & han joo won. you can't arrest someone without first holding their hands
goblin: kim shin & grim reaper. duh.
kairos: kim seo jin & han ae ri. yes, this counts

People I “wanna talk to” RE: BJYX. (´。• ᵕ •。`)
Disclaimer: I don’t plan on harassing any of the people mentioned on this post. Everything is speculation only. CPN.
I don’t wanna make it too long so I’ll just give one example (minimum) that made me 👀 with these people. But when it came to DLS, I had no control. This became a DLS exposes Web pretty fast. 😂
I had so much fun compiling this! Hope you do too!
* TTXS Bros
Web’s support system and bros that are always right behind him. I’m so happy that Web has people like them to look out for him and give him advise, especially his Han ge. Add the fact that he first met GG in TTXS and they were all there to witness it. If there is anyone that knows what’s going on, my money is on them. Plus, they will never say anything. Han ge is always there to support Web, he was even there on SDOC3 finals. One day, I’ll make an appreciation post for them.
IN GENERAL, I wanna ask about the cloud episodes during the lockdown. If anyone knows if GG was there— they should. Plus the post from their Weibo account when GG returned on 2019. It’s probably a staff who manages it, but the fact they said “brings him home” like GG meeting Web’s family ( TTXS). 🥺
Also this video:  https://youtu.be/0Zh5ulj6QtE  Go ahead and watch Web get roasted by his bros.
1. Han ge (Wang Han)- He is very subtle with his support and I’m sure if someone asks him, He’ll never tell anything personal about Web. One thing is how different he asks Web about relationship post-CQL. For example this video, where there is a single girl and Han ge does not point to Web as a match.
Tumblr media
2. Feng ge -  Web’s favorite who always makes him laugh. Who can forget this line he said in the BJYX TTXS episode? This is after a kid said Web is beautiful.
Tumblr media
3. DLS  -  oh! Where do I start? I can make a laundry list but here are a few that stands out:
* this one happened fairly recently, when he drew a mole on a doll presented to them. Why put a mole? and why the same spot at GG’s? He proceeds to show this to Web.
Tumblr media
* the look on his face when GG was there and they were playing that game. Oh Lord!!!!! This episode was a riot. DLS+ Feng ge.
Tumblr media
* When Feng ge was saying he will form a duo with Web, he started with “Yi-“ but DLS chanted “zhan zhan” Yizhan. https://mobile.twitter.com/ventus1821/status/1279901438034866176
* Web was asked what song describes him and he answers Cool Guy. This song was made by DLS for Web. However, DLS says he thought Web will answer a different song. Which is ‘The brightest star in the night sky.’. Why a star DLS? Do we know someone who says Web is his star? HINT: Xiao Sun
Tumblr media
* Web said he sends his clothes home which is very 👀 cause he hasn’t been home since forever ( home meaning with his parents ). DLS comes to the rescue and jokes that his parents are cool and wears his clothes. But we all know who dresses the same as he does now. watch video.
* THIS ONE! I’M CACKLING!!!!!! The look on Web’s face, you know DLS said the truth and he’s embarrassed. DLS was quick to save him tho and say that it’s his parents who were supposed to come. watch video.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
* Back in 2017, I like to think that DLS was making cues in teasing GG cause he knows Web likes him. You can also see GG interacting with DLS.
Tumblr media
Okay, I have to stop talking about DLS. Now onto the other people.
* Xiao Jie
Mr. Don’t say so much + someone who makes Web laugh is a contestant in SDOC3. He is from Web’s team and is known to do antics/jokes in his performances. In true Web fashion, once he likes someone, he consistently stays close to them. So this one starts when people noticed he followed xz studio weibo, however proceeded to unfollow it because of hate messages probably.
Tumblr media
He also liked a video of GG wearing bunny ears. Then on SDOC performance, Web’s team danced with bunny ears. When asked, they said Xiao Jie suggested this in their chat group. Referencing macho bunny. Who is the macho bunny? Ehem.
Tumblr media
So why the hell would Xiao Jie follow his studio and like an interview? They don’t run in the same circle that we know of. They have one person in common tho, Wang Yibis. Add the fake rumors that GG was seen in and around SDOC taping, then this makes more sense.
* Zhao Li ying
Is a chinese actress that is cast alongside Web in the drama Legend of Fei. The pictures say it all. The way she looks at GG, assessing him and all. GIRL, what do you know? What did Wang Yibis say about him? I love the protective jiejie vibes right here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
* Liu Haikuan
He was there with GG and Web when they all stayed at a different hotel from the rest of the crew. So 👀 what do you know Ge? What happened? Was it fun? 🔪 Back in the day, during filming CQL in Guizhou, they stayed at a different place and some bxgs visited it. The place is pretty far away from the city and not much places to get food from for delivery. They stayed there as it’s close from the filming site.
Tumblr media
And oh plus this. Look at LHK’s face.
* BAH /Being A Hero crew
This is me just being Delulu, but hear me out cause the evidence compelling. Especially for clowns like me. My love for this crew started because of the fake rumor that GG visited this set during the 2020 dragon boat festival + made zongzi for the cast. Also, the very fake engagement fanfic story allegedly took place here. This started with GG’s post and the background being compared to one of Web’s cast-mate, Wang Hao Xuan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What gets me is the caption saying, “stuff that happens at work is a secret”. / “someone became super talkative while eating zongzi” What? Why? Who do we know is quiet but becomes really talkative when with his GG? WANG YIBIS.
Post-shoot, The director attended SDOC 3 finals too! To support Web. Plus Web’s message for the wrap was sweet. I felt like they really took care of him and will not say anything that will bring him down.
*Du Hua and Long Danni
their respective bosses. GG may have his own studio, but it’s still under Wajijiwa. Web’s contract on the other hand will expire on 2022. If there is anyone who KNOWS that going on, it’s these two. If anything goes wrong or whatever contigency plans they have, It’s safe to assume these women are in on it.
instance that had me 💀.
Du Hua talking to GG during the infamous weibo night - https://mobile.twitter.com/yiboitz/status/1215991590071820288
I wanna know what they talked about. It’s not too long and it doesn’t look that serious? But- Hello? What?
Long Danni? Well I just hope Web gives her the death stare when he can. Lol. ( we know he won’t cause he’s very respectful to seniors, but still. )
*CQL Crew
To be part of that chaotic summer, oh what joy! Many of the fansites who shared BTS and stories are crew members who turned BXG. Also remember the 49 fake candies that were posted back in 2018 were from crew members. I wonder how many more unseen photos and videos are out there that may never be released.
* Yixing/Lay
Only because he’s the bridge right now. Or that’s what we think. He is friends with the boys and clearly knows what’s it like to live in the public eye and how to keep secrets. Recently, he was with Web in SDOC3 as a captain too. Plus, more recently, he and GG followed each other on Douyin. Yixing is the only one GG follows on Douyin aside from XZ studio.
Tumblr media
Ummm. And, Yixing follows Web on Douyin too.
Our boys also recorded a video wishing Yixing’s new company success! A video featuring our boys? Wow! Yixing! Give us more! 😂
* Lin Hai
I’ll just refer you to the posts below. This man is something else. There is a reason why he said “love” when asked what his inspiration was in composing music for CQL.
link 1 | link 2
If you reached the end. Thank you. Feel free to add your “persons” on this list too. I wanna KNOW!

C-Drama Roundup
(procrastinating on work, who me? addition)
Because my Tumblr is now mostly a c-drama one, I figured I might as well outline some thoughts on the c-dramas that I have watched this year.  I will note one big thing: how much I have enjoyed something does not necessarily correlate to the “quality” of the drama.  I am an emotional watcher -- give me a character or a couple that I can connect with, and I will gladly suffer through multiple plot holes.  There are some overlaps (like I think both Minglan, which I actually watched as it was airing last year, and Go Ahead, which I watched as it was airing this year) where I connected well with the drama AND thought it had good writing.  But some of them are very much “yes, the writing is not great but the main OTP speaks to my id.”  Anyways:
Dramas that I have probably re-watched a few times this year since it aired a few years ago:
Story of Minglan: Genuinely well done drama.  Everything that I wished Downton Abbey could be.
Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace (Dear god I hate the English name): I would say that I don’t re-watch this all the way through.  Mostly key episodes when I really want to out angst myself.
Legend of Yunxi:  STILL salty about the ending, but it’s an example of “the writing can be so much better but the main OTP really hits my id.”
Goodbye My Princess:  Honestly, it’s a drama that I both love and hate but I’ll re-watch because it’s like watching a trainwreck that is the OTP.  I wasn’t particularly invested in the OTP at the end (I wanted Xiao Feng to just leave to someplace far far away with Ah Du and never come back to Li guo).
Untouchable Lovers: Particularly episode 17 on.  I don’t know why I’m so drawn to this drama.  The writing is objectively NOT GOOD.  Like Yu Mama would it kill you to (a) not plagiarize other authors but also (b) spend some goddamn time on the plot instead of weird costuming schemes?  But the main OTP (well, episode 17+) again hits my id (see Yunxi) so I do end up overlooking GIANT PLOT HOLES LIKE THE PLOT OF THE LAST 20 EPISODES MAKES NO SENSE WHATSOEVER.
Dramas aired this year that I really like and will re-watch:
Find Yourself: the drama that put me on the Song Weilong thirst train despite the fact that he was born the year I left China and is a baby.  BUT the drama did an amazing job writing women in their thirties and the roadblocks for the main OTP felt organic and not contrived.
Go Ahead: I’ve dedicated numerous posts to this.  YES CHEN TING IS TERRIBLE but the trio and the two dads are the best and the soundtrack is amazing and why aren’t there most post-canon fluffy slice of life fanfics.
Everybody Wants to Meet You:  what I like to call, Zhao Wei watched a bunch of mid aughts K-drama and really wanted to recreate one.  I kinda loved it and I feel like Zhang Zhehan is sorta underrated, but I will admit that the last five episodes were kinda contrived.
Under the Power: The plot goes bonkers in all directions and I don’t think the mysteries were that well written to be honest.  THAT SAID, Ren Jialun and Tan Songyun has amazing chemistry and their interactions are just so enjoyable that I will re-watch select episodes just for fun.
Dramas aired this year that I watched and probably won’t re-watch:
In a Class of Her Own: it pains me to say this, because I actually didn’t find anything wrong with the show other than it’s not my jam? Song Weilong and Ju Jingyi are pretty together and I look forward to future angsty palace dramas starring these two but the plot just lacked tension.
Legend of Hao Lan:  It’s...fine.  But it has all the plot holes of a typical Yu Mama drama without an OTP that I can connect with.

bro episode 42 of the long ballad!
after hao du fought in the challenge and won and afterwards leyan went to see him and they had that entire conversation ahhhh
and basically after he said he really wanted to marry her and they had that hug and leyan was like "how are you going to protect me if you don't recover?" my dude literally became like a whole other person. his cold icy exterior just shattered and he was smiling so much and being less guarded and cautious around her 😭😭😭😭
i felt that so deeply in my soul. i feel you hao du, i feel you 😭✋🏼

Li Shimin is such a fascinating antagonist. Every moment when he speaks of or thinks of Li Changge, I’m like oh boy, oh boy. He may be the antagonist, may be the source of Li Changge’s pain, but Tang needs him. Tang is young, in a precarious position, and Li Changge chose Tang--her home, her country, her people--when she interfered with the assassination attempt.
Also, I felt like Li Shimin was finally in charge again. When he had scenes with the three stooges in the earlier episodes, it sometimes felt like the stooges were more vocal, more present than him. But you could say that he was getting his head in order after everything.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mimi Guli was Ashile She Er’s slave? Well, two birds, one stone. The Great Khan removed the slave that distracted Ashile She Er and then later sent her to Ashile Sun. (To spy?) I see now why hot-headed Mimi Guli doesn’t show signs of being an abused slave. Sure, she’s occasionally scared, for obvious reasons, but Ashile She Er cares about her (I don’t think I can say ‘love’ at the moment, since he keeps stressing ‘belonging’ and ‘slave’) and even made her a promise. He must have protected her and maybe even indulged her in little ways … but she’s so subdued around him. Though, the Ashile She Er in front of Ashile Sun and the Ashile She Er in front of Mimi Guli is fascinating.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m really, really liking Ashile Sun and Li Changge. They don’t make my heart skip a beat like Hao Du and Li Leyan, but I’m enjoying their dynamic and their relationship, and every time Ashile Sun worries about her, I think: ‘Poor baby boy, so in love, but she’s not there yet.’
He cares about her so much, but that means he becomes controlling and has his men tie her down, which makes even his men eye him. What a stark contrast compared to the snowy scene when Li Changge handed over Gongsun Heng’s head; all the men except for Mu Jin scoffed and laughed at her.
Urgh, I would have loved to see that transition between Li Changge and Ashile Sun’s men, from enemies to companions. (Or maybe ‘acquaintances’ is more accurate?) Because Ya Luo wanted to rush in to help her, but Nu Er actually considered the situation and voiced the consequences. They’re not bad men, and Li Changge could have killed Su Yi She, but she didn’t.
Tumblr media
The Great Khan said that after he would drink the wine, the archers should shoot Li Shimin. Which wouldn’t be the best moment for an assassination, for him that is--wouldn’t he be too close to Li Shimin and his guards and the enemy archers? That is what I initially thought, and at first I disagreed with the way he worded the order; instead, have the archers only prepare to shoot once he drank the wine but wait for him to step away, away from danger.
Then I thought, no, Ashile Zuobi was expecting a successful assassination, so he wanted to immediately charge ahead with his army--once Li Shimin fell, he would lead his people and win the war. More glory for him, the Great Khan who rushes ahead to danger. But the assassination attempt failed. Some people would immediately flee, but he didn’t.
(I don’t think he’d want to die with arrows in his back.)
But it is still a weird, though also understandable, place for an assassination attempt. Weird because both armies are so close to each other, and archers from both sides can kill the important leaders. But understandable because there’s a river with a very strong current and only one bridge, as far as I can tell.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Li Leyan and Xiao Wu. My babies. My poor babies! I know what’s going to happen with Xiao Wu--and it’s like waiting for a car crash to happen--and I hate it. Hate it, hate it! I do like it that the makeup artists made Xiao Wu’s cheeks pink, which showed that he has a fever. But Li Leyan and Xiao Wu? They make my heart hurt--‘I apologise on behalf of my sister,’ be still my heart. Xiao Wu called her his sister! But about Xiao Wu and the refugees, I still feel that Li Leyan’s story will be about the people. Just as Li Changge is thinking about her revenge and the people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Li Changge and every moment after the attempted assassination! The way she wore Wolf Army uniform and pinned the blame on them, instead of the Eagle Army. She could have done that. But didn’t. The way she used the phrase ‘Heavenly Wolf God’--I’m assuming that she heard the phrase while she was living in the Eagle Army camp.
Also, I wonder what she was thinking while she stood in front of Ashile Zuobi. Did she think that she’d be able to avoid a death sentence? And did she think that it would be okay to die there because at least Tang was safe? At that moment. But Li Changge is one fierce, intelligent lady, and I love her.

2021.07.26 - https://weibo.com/l/wblive/p/show/1022:2321324663282895290466
LYN: You finally caught me from the start, huh? Now that you’re here, I hope you stick with me until the end. Don’t leave.
Comment: A-Zhuo looks better (more handsome) than you. LYN: I think being more handsome than me is normal. There’s that saying- “萝卜青菜. 各有所爱.” (Each has their own preference.) A lot of people may think A-Zhuo is more handsome. Then you... you can leave. You’re not welcome here. Even though my stream is public, I only recognize people who have the same aesthetic sense as I do. We’re in the customer service scene, but we still have the right to refuse customers. People who think A-Zhuo is handsome can leave now. J/K. If you like A-Zhuo, you can just keep looking at him. Put a mosaic over my face.
Comment: You have a tear-mole? LYN: You’re messing with me? Look at this. /comes closer to the camera, showing his mole/ You can see it so well. The blur’s on 100% and you can STILL see it. Comment: I can’t see it. LYN: Go look at it in my drama. I don’t need to be here to show you all the moles on my body. Comment: Turn off the beauty filter and then show us. LYN: I won’t. It’s not because I’m trying to preserve my own image. I’m trying to save the people I work with. As soon as I turn off this filter, you’re all gonna stop watching my dramas. There are already rumors around that I’m ugly.
Topic: How did LYN get the role in An Le Zhuan? [skip to the ** for the actual answer] LYN: A lot of people have been saying it's because my resources are good. It's not that. My resources are just- normal. But I have a lot of noble people- a lot of good friends- who are helping me. As for how I got my first few jobs, I won't say anymore. I'm sure you all know by now. I think people know about what dramas and roles I was acting in- this is what I think other people are thinking: not very often do you see a man who likes to play the second role. You understand? Artists.... any artist is fine. But there’s a saying, that any soldier who doesn’t want to be a general is a bad soldier. Right? Any artist looking to act is looking for the lead role. But not me. Some leading roles have come looking for me and I turned them down. They asked me why and I told them I don’t act the main lead. They were probably wondering to themselves if I was crazy. Out of all the excuses, I choose that one?? But it’s the truth. So I look for the second roles. LYN: I actively look for the second lead roles, and I have a fan-base that supports me, so the bosses are willing to use me. I thank everyone who’s given me this opportunity.
Comment: Why don’t you try out for female lead. LYN: Female lead? LYN: ... LYN: What drama have you seen where the female lead is 189cm? I could do it! I could make the sacrifice to put on makeup and a wig, but what female lead is this tall?? How tall would the male lead have to be?
Comment: When will you go for lead roles? LYN: When I feel like I have what it takes.
LYN: But for me, what I think is most important for an actor, is to have their role be remembered. That makes me happy. As an actor, there’s a complexity there that singing doesn’t give me. See, I’ve released at least 90-something songs already. But none of them have really taken off. You can say they’re popular in some circles, but none really made a break. But what’s interesting about acting is that other people look at me- when people used to look at me, they’d ask if I’m the one who sang Jiang Zhen De in the alley, the guy from Modern Brothers??; but when they see me now, they say, “Hey- you’re Hao Du, right?” or “Are you the one who played Black Glasses, Liu Yuning?” A lot of people will remember you because of a role you played. So I think acting has brought me this, which makes me happy.
Comment: Which one is Black Glasses. LYN: ... Are you a passerby? You must be. LYN: Black Glasses. The- from DMBJ. I played one. When UN aired I was cursed up and down for it. “Why is Glasses so fat?” “I can’t accept that there are two Fattys in DMBJ.” “Too short.” All sorts of things. But it got better later, because the adaptation was very good. I guess the more people watched the more they were able to accept and even anticipate me. LYN: Hao Du was the same. “Who is this, SO ugly!” [...] Then after the ugly, people started to like me. So- the role itself does a lot of work.
*LYN: So, HOW did the Luo Mingxi role come to me? Do you want to know? It’s such a mysterious story! [t/n: my player skips 10 seconds here, no matter how many times I skip back. WHAT. Mysterious indeed.]
/about to play a song/ Comment: E! LYN: I was about to ask A-Zhuo what key it was and you already answered for me. There are professionals in my stream! Are you in the same business as us (music)? If you are.. get out. Leave for this song, and come back later. Pros can see all my mistakes. LYN: Let me play on my own for the first bit- it’ll be like I’m serenading you under your window. Let’s see if I’m worthy of... a splash of cold water.
**LYN: I got An Le Zhuan in the most mysterious way. Out of all the jobs I’ve gotten this one was really interesting. I had nothing lined up after this- I had already finished filming for Heroes and was about to start for Zichuan, when I received an invitation. What invitation? Rattan’s ending party. I told you about this before, remember? [...] The room’s full of big bosses, but there I am, minding my own business, eating to my heart’s content. After a while, people get around to networking, and suddenly I find myself at a table with one of Youku’s producers. She asked me, “Yuning.... what have you got lined up after this?” I told her I didn’t have plans, that I would be filming Zichuan in June. She asked me, “Then, what are you doing in August?” I told her I would be at home playing lego and doing live streams, and asked her what was up. She says, “I have a drama. The second lead really suits you. The FL is Reba. ML is Gong Jun. You should come be my second lead. It really suits you. Come.”  LYN: Of course, I agreed. I was on the down-low, but on the inside I was SO happy flowers bloomed! I just went there to have a meal and all of a sudden I got a job! But at the time I asked her if I could see the script and character analysis first. Because when I pick, I look and see if I like the role. She sent it to me very quickly, and later I did accept the role. I got a job out of having a meal at Siteng’s wrap party!
Comment: Teach Gong Jun how to sing. LYN: First off, Gong Jun-laoshi already KNOWS how to sing. I don’t think there’s a need for me to... Imagine the first thing I do when I walk on set is to look at GJ and say, “Hey kiddo! Should I teach you how to sing?” AM I INSANE??? How could I go teach him how to sing???
LYN: Remember I told you before, about someone who kept suggesting me for good roles? Actually ALZ came from that person too, the Youku-jie told me about it. Later I messaged them to thank them and they told me not to sweat it, that they suggested me because they thought I suited the role. They said if they came across any other good roles they thought I was suitable for, they would suggest me again.  Comment: WHO IS IT. LYN: I’m not gonna say. You don’t need to go thank them for me. I already did myself. It’s actually someone I didn’t have all that much interaction with. Comments: /names of other celebs and producers/directors/ LYN: I see all your comments and it’s no one you’ve mentioned. LYN: Alright, that’s it on that subject.
Comment: Get me OOO’s autograph. LYN: Am I your relative? Did I break into the acting world just to get my fans autographs?? Comment: Get me Wu Lei’s! LYN: I don’t even have it.
Comment: Dai Mi’s got a Super Topic now. LYN: ??? You all got nothing better to do??? LYN: I’ll let you see your celebrity.
Tumblr media
Comment: Will you raffle off your kazoo? LYN: You want MINE? I’m sure a lot of people already went out and got one of their own, but I really wouldn’t recommend it. You’ll play it once then leave it on a shelf forever. It’s not worth it. You don’t need mine, though. After playing it a few times it’s already full of my saliva. Comment: (I) Don’t mind. LYN: You don’t mind it? Well, I mind you. How about that? (⌐▨_▨)
/product testing with ning-ge: he bought a... skin whitening cream or sth/ LYN: I’ll rub it on one of my arms, and then we can compare the two later. Comment: Rub it on your chest. LYN: If you want to keep seeing your Ning-ge, please keep it PG. BC there are a lot of kids watching my channel, and I don’t want it to be shut down. Keep those thoughts in your head, don’t say them out loud.

The stats screen was pretty cool to see in and of itself! >_
Aaah, thank you ;////; I’m glad! My plan is for the MC’s stats to be in flux through chapter five (which is the end of the current arc), so I hope I can balance things well
The core stat for Pure and Gentle is “righteousness”; originally, the stats were going to be called “Righteous” and “Merciful” but then I thought about how many anime protags there are getting called nonesense things like “pure” and “gentle” when their actions seem on the surface to be Anything But (I finished reading Shaman King in the last year or so and that’s a really good example. Hao is pure??? Ren is gentle???) and what those actually meant in that context, and then I thought that would be a good dynamic to explore in Heaven’s Dog, which is about anger and good intentions that feel more like a burden and a wall than something worthwhile, and being unable to let go of those good intentions even though they’re hurting you, because they’re such a core part of you that you’d be lost without them.
“Pure” is for MCs who are very sure of what is right and wrong, and determined to defend what is right while being slow to accept what they see as wrong in another person. For a Pure MC, they can always do better, and they always need to push themselves to do better, and they see other people the same way -- and if it gets out of hand, that could be very, very bad, but in moderation it’s also really important because without it you’ll just let innocents get hurt and yourself get hurt and etc.
“Gentle” is for MCs who are very receptive to the idea that other people are doing their best, and that the world is ultimately kind and that if you extend the hand of friendship enough times eventually someone will reach back; they can’t give up on the people around them because those people are who they’re fighting for, but at an extreme, it can be hard to distinguish between “good” and “bad” because you could be in that other person’s shoes if you’d just taken a wrong turn somewhere.
This is a bit of a tangent, but I’m planning for there to be three loose “paths” for the MC to follow -- I’ve only plotted out the middle path, and the others are still sort of percolating, but they each tie into an extreme of “righteousness” conceptually (a high righteous or low righteous character is not necessarily bound to either role, though! that would be unfair); the first is the “punishment route” which is a tragedy (it’s meant to be more cathartic than rewarding) where the MC gives into their anger and purity and destroys everything they can’t accept; the second is the “natural” route, where the MC seals away a great evil and manages to find peace with their place in the world, and chooses where they want to belong, etc, and the third is the “redemption” arc, where the MC is driven by compassion and mercy to redeem Phantome du  Mirage, despite everything she’s done, and that last route is more about the question that’s been on my mind for the last few years, as someone who hardcore favors redemption: if everyone can be saved, how do you save them without hurting the people they’ve hurt?
Thank you so much for asking! (And for . . . listening to me prattle about things haha)
