RED

I rotated so my face went under the surface, opening my eyes to see through the crystal clear water. Beneath the magmum floor, I could see glimpses of red, heat rising. The heat here, the last of the extinct volcano, was as ancient as this temple.

ORANGE

A smell wafted to me, separate from the sweet roasted scent from the altar. This one was citrus, like the oranges that grew in the palace garden.

YELLOW

“Well, do whatever you want, I say.” Saya slid off the rock, her bare feet landing on the soft white-yellow sand with a thump. “Done pestering me?” “For tonight,” she said. “Enjoy your brooding alone time on the rock.”

GREEN

But I realized the mess they made wasn’t just from stomping, but a residue left in their wake. It left a faint afterglow, a duller green than their skin, that stuck to the dirt and strands of grass. As the afterglow faded away, even in the darkness I could tell it left the blades of grass shriveled and brown and dead.

BLUE

Before I could gawk any further, something skittered by my feet and startled me. It was a salamander, one of the blue ones. It squatted down to see it closer, where I could see its scaley skin. Each scale glowed uniquely, varying shades of blue that, from a distance, looked like one solid color. I ran my finger down the salamander and it nudged me, tail shaking back and forth to assess my threat level. It must have decided I was not a danger to it, as curled up in a circle beneath by finger and let me caress it.

INDIGO PURPLE

The people split down the middle, making room for the familiar voice. Tolai, wearing my favorite of her deep purple robes—the one with the belt made of sand dollars—stepped forth to the front before the warriors and the mysterious monk.

VIOLET BURGUNDY

As if reading my mind, a moth approached me, this one with sharp lines on its wings that reminded me of the triangular pivots of my mami’s earned marks. On the cusp of its larger wings, two small eyes looked back at me, glowing the same burgundy of seers.

Nobody inspired him, I just have a thing for tall, dark, serious guys so I wanted one for myself, to delve into his mind and destroy his certainties. (Corinna does it, but still...)

I don't have a song for him, just some vibes... maybe A sleepless midnight punk romance from V for volume

4. If I meet your OC on the street, how would they greet me?

He doesn't care about humans, so he won't great you in any way, most likely will avert his gaze disgusted by how squat and fat are we. After meeting Corinna he starts to get interested in animals, insects and all forms of life on Earth, just because they don't exist on his planet and he's the curious type.

5. Can you OC be your best friend? Why?

No, he can't be my best friend, since he won't care listening to all my wips and crazy ideas, and he's too silent and judgy for my taste XD so I leave him to Corinna so she can take care of him ;)

Where did you first hear this song?

There was an early fanfiction website that was exclusively screenplay fanfics of a TV show I was obsessed with and they always included songs in their screenplays as like, soundtracks. I downloaded and compiled all of the songs from napster so I could listen while I read 🤭 this was one of them.

How old were you when you first heard it?

Lord. 13? 14? We still had dial-up. I used to print off the screenplays from the family computer so i could read them in bed at night.

Being who you are now, how do you feel about the song?

It's kind of dull? But very fitting for the young me who used to play the dawson's creek soundtracks on repeat. I wouldn't hear it now and think , oh yeah, that's for me. I doubt it would even make a nostalgia playlist actually. They did have another song I liked which I feel like would still make a nostalgia cut. If I could remember what it was 😄

What is a song you love now that fills the same kind of vibe as this, but more befitting your current self?

Wow, tough question. Maybe The Most Beautiful Thing by Bruno Major? Same kind of slow indie stuff but much more musical and beautiful?

Femslash Ships to Get to Know Me

As I figured she would, Annie (@udaberriwrites) went and tagged me for the other half of my list! You can find the M/M post over here~

**Rules**: Name at least five (but no upper limit) femslash (F/F) ships you love. Each from a different fandom.

1 - Twilight & Life and Death

I'd be quite remiss if I didn't mention the two femslash ships I'm writing right now - Rosalie/Eleanor (Elle) and Alice/Jessamine (Mina)! Like with the slash pairs I'm writing in that world, Carlisle/Beau and Edward/Mike, I didn't ship them at first (despite being the femslash version of canon pairs)... but as I wrote on, I ended up loving them!

2 - Teen Wolf

Well, my undisputed femslash OTP is Allydia (Allison/Lydia), and I love them so much that they inspired how I went about writing the above sapphic vampire ships! Also, I almost chose Teen Wolf instead of Twilight/Life and Death for my worldbuilding concept, and if I had, I'd be writing Allydia and my slash OTP, Steter, right now.

3 - Fire Emblem Three Houses

There are quite a few femslash FE3H ships I love, but my favorite is definitely Edelthea (Edelgard/Dorothea). In fact, three years ago, I started writing a Beauty and the Beast AU and it was supposed to include both Edelthea and Ferdibert (Hubert/Ferdinand) as the main ships, but that plan went bust when I left the fandom soon after >.>

4 - Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Oh, my love, MadoHomu (Kaname Madoka/Akemi Homura)! This pair of tragic lesbians really has my heart. I remember being stuck on them for months after I finished watching the anime... and honestly, I saw the potential for the ship to be written in an even darker manner, though it's not something I found all that often in the fandom.

5 - Ace Attorney

Salty and Momo might be shocked, but I've shipped FranMaya (Franziska von Karma/Maya Fey) for quite a while! They were the second ship I fell into after Narumitsu, in fact... but I will say that Momo's way of writing that pair definitely had me falling more into the pair than I had before! I'm also a major fan of Mia Fey/Lana Skye - there's just something powerful about that duo~

Huh... I can't pin out as many similarities between my femslash ships as I could with my slash ships. All those ladies have some dark stuff going on... but unlike with some of the slash ships, the dark and/or ambiguous stuff is more in the surroundings than the dynamic itself.

Oh, but they all have that magic/supernatural component to them! Vampires in #1, werewolves and banshees in #2, magic in #3, magical girl stuff in #4, and spirits and possession in #5, so...

Random Fact: I probably have EDS but I don't have a diagnosis, so all my joints pop all the time and I'm essentially pop rocks. My partner hates the sound of bones popping so that's fun, especially when I am compulsively popping and can't stop.

Last Line Tag Game

Amazingly enough I have actually gotten something written lately. Good grief, has it been a chore lately!

This chapter of Saudade continues from where the last chapter left off: Shawn seeking Audrey's help to begin to heal the wounds of the past. They are now back at the Matthews, Audrey is with Jon, and, after an argument on the phone with Katy, Shawn is with Cory wondering how to fix him.

Cory, as usual, is finding happiness in the simple things: watching an old comfort show while his son sleeps in his arms. Shawn, however, can't stop thinking about the past:

It was a TV set, an old heavy monstrosity, that Chet decided to walk out of Jon’s apartment with the day he moved him out of his teacher’s place, the one he said Jon didn’t need because of his occupation. The one Shawn somehow managed to drag back to the apartment without Jon finding out.

Every expense he incurred Jon paid for. Chet never offered. Even if he had the money he wouldn’t have offered. It still bothered Shawn that Chet stole the television after all Jon had done for him. For Chet. Long after the TV had been returned it bothered him.

For some reason, it still did.

Happy WBW! ♥️ What's the section of worldbuilding that's your favorite? Feel free to gush about it or share something you've created!

Honestly, my favorite part is thinking about how certain people were affected by this one life-changing event, The Ray. It was a weapon designed to actively attack an entire civilization's DNA, but one of their scientists came up with a defense that muted the destructive effects. Unfortunately, she couldn't block it entirely, so everyone ended up getting altered in some way, and it's the after-effects of those alterations that've created a lot of chaos for my characters.

They yank your head up and tear the blindfold so you can see their horrible masks—royal armor, sleek black but shining, with abyssal crescents for eyes. “What were you doing with the princess in Darscafor?” Princess? Your mind races, that red hair flashing behind your eyes. “What did you do to her?” “I saved her.”

3. Mentions Texture

He nods, and she steps forward to press into him, despite the roughness of his armor. Though her touch is light, light enough that he can barely feel it through the metal, he does feel the softness of her hair against his chin. “I’m sorry.” “It was not your fault.” His heart pounds in his chest, aching. “I would do it again.”

The creature looks over its shoulder, and even from the distance, he feels its eyes daring into him. At first, normal eyes, but they flash sliver, as quick as a blink. But it does nothing. This is from a draft of a prompt given to me by Mizuka. I have another wip waiting in the wings for development if I decide this one doesn't...fit? TLDR; I've become a feral beast twisting myself in knots of the definition of this word and how to apply it, despite the ENTIRE Dragon Age series being known for this sort of thing.

I'm a little inclined to keep this one because it expands on the current continuity I have going. Anyway, for reference the word 'shem' is a derogatory term for humans used by elves, and the 'vhenadahl' is a large oak tree central to elven culture.

Valendrian, our leader, was the first to scold me for what I’d done, going in there, killing all those shems. He told me I was stupid to risk my life, that it was my fault the man Ariel was meant to wed perished going after her, and that by killing the Arl’s men and his son, I’d put the entire alienage at risk.

It took three of the older men to keep me from pummeling him against the vhenadahl.

Valendrian acted like it was some big quandary: let Vaughan and his friends have their fun with the women, while the alienage remained beneath noble ire, or go after them, maybe kill them, but incite an inevitable purge.

The stance had always, always been to preserve peace at all costs. And if that meant one or two women went missing, or ended up dead, or anything between—that was somehow better than fighting back with the risk of having a purge brought down upon the alienage.

I’ve watched it play out so many times, but there was always a distance between me and whoever was involved. It couldn’t happen to us.

But then? When I watched them drag Ariel and the others away, when the rest of the alienage stood there without acting because this is the way things always are, what can we do? They’ll kill us if we fight back—

Well, what choice did I have, really? What dilemma was there to ponder over? My course of action was clear.
