My Paternal Grandfather Christopher Kemp Wells

Saturday 27th August 2022. Hubby and I went to visit St Mary's Guildhall. Armed with research that I have done on my Paternal Grandfather Christopher Kemp Wells and his restoration work on the roof after the Blitz. I am immensely proud that this is part of my family history. It was surreal to stand in the Kitchen where he had worked on the carvings. His presence was greatly felt.  I have from this visit gained a new perspective and possible new information on him through a lady that works there. She is greatly impressed with the information I have on him and this could lead to having an exhibition on him. The Guildhall is steeped in over 700 years of history. Well worth a visit. Digital tour was very good. Stopped to have lunch in the Tale of Tea Rooms in the under croft #Genealogy #familyhistory #Coventry #hiddengemcoventry #myancestors #stonemason #history #myhistory

Gonna try this again.

Gonna try to be on my own. Trying to build a home within. For days when i feel alone. I can’t keep relying on my environment to feel safe, supportive, relaxing. When I don’t feel that way inside. I question if I’ve ever felt safe, supported, and relaxed within myself. Definitely not for more than three days in a row. I thought that was normal but as I reflect, it’s probably a red flag.  

They say that people with multiple traumas are used to living in a state of heightened stress and extreme emotions, like we’re in fight or flight. To survive is to live perpetually in fight or flight. 

In a capitalist society it takes resources and privilege to heal your trauma. Need someone to talk to without feeling judged or silenced? The average therapy session costs $85-$120/50 min. Feeling overwhelmed/depressed/stressed/etc. and need time off work? Hope your employer values mental health over profits. Chances are they don’t. In a society guided by nurturing Black, Indigenous, and Brown liberation; hierarchy will be abolished and mental health will be understood as directly tied to historical traumas and social/political/economic injustice and violence.

I don’t feel safe inside myself because my life and society has proven to me over and over that I am not safe. Not in my family. Not in my place of birth. Not walking down the street. Not in my sleep.

I honor the resiliency of my soul, that keeps me going even when she knows she’s had enough. I honor the pain, survival, resistance, resilience, and joy of the women in me. For I am not alone. They live in me, waiting to meet me, if I’d just set aside the time to chill with them, to learn about them, to learn from them. My healing heals the womxn before me and the womxn to come after me. Blessed are we, womxn of the moon.
