Does anyone else who feels disconnected from their culture/heritage have that one music artist (or artist in general) who is the one way that you feel comfortable connecting with your culture/heritage?
Mine is Nahko Bear, I grew up on his music and he’s one of the main ways I feel connected to my heritage as Native American (although I am white-passing, which is the main reason I have a hard time feeling comfortable connecting to my heritage, for personal reasons, none too angsty but still very much there)
He’s also one of my comfort artists. And his music has also affected how I see things and the world, the intake of his music and the lyrics in them greatly affected my views on the world, it’s pretty fuckin’ cool actually how media, even just lyrics in a song, can affect our views, and beliefs, and who we are as people :]

Get the fuck away from me 'cause I can still love you when you're far away from me, dichotomy. That's how you know you really love somebody, when you leave them as they are.

all of creation is makin' a statement, you can't escape it, she's coming for you
if it was up to me, i'd teach that the loneliness, is just part of the courage it takes

Carolane Soucisse and Shane Firus's costumes at the 2022 Nebelhorn Trophy for their free dance to music by Nahko and Medicine for the People.
Soucisse's dress is presumably borrowed from Piper Gilles, which makes me wonder if she'll have another later in the season, especially as Firus might be wearing a placeholder too? But the costumes are already a good match for the program, so no need to change!

The saddest part is in their heart they think they’re doing God’s work - your knee is on my neck, no disrespect, that ain’t how God works.
