why does the lamb snarl, god wonders distantly, why does it bend low as though to lunge? why does it rear to cover its trembling kin that cower at its back? how has it turned predator in its stain-free woollen coat?

lambs for the slaughter they are, these little unmarked things, stretched out on the ground-turned-altar of this battlefield. soft and afraid, nimble and eager where youth still clouds their minds. lambs for the slaughter, all of them, until this lamb grew desperate rage inside itself and found an appetite for bloodied flesh.

this lamb, hearing false godtongue speak of sickly-sweet devotion, grew teeth.

god said kill for me, die for me, bring yourself upon the enemy sword for me—clean your blade with something purer than your tears for me.

god says nothing at all now, hollowed out before the frenzied lamb.

feast on what you have slain little godling, sings the sky as its talons curve around boyish shoulders, sink your too-blunt teeth into his flesh, dig your shaking hands through to his bones. strip him bare and wear it all, pelt and blood, marrow melting on your tongue. consume and drape yourself with his remains.

kin find their brother with teeth and hands and mind inside the carnage of god’s corpse, a slain beast half-chewed and naked in the grass. they find him with the world bending its shape around new godhood, with skies bearing down to dig deep bloodied paths into a child’s back. kin find their brother, god successor, mouth smeared red and buckling legs.

god lies silent as the lambs pay witness to his death and let their brother devour him whole.

—as lucy feeds life to their witch-slaying brother, susan readies her bow to defend the brother who sits, wide eyes unseeing, choking down godmeat for their sake.

The Great British Blorbo Off Begins Shortly....

Thanks everyone for waiting so patiently while I take my time sorting this all out! I'm pleased to announce that I've decided on everyone that will be in the tournament, and we will be starting next Monday (16th)! So, here's how it's going to work:

There are 128 characters overall, and I have split them into 4 brackets with two rounds each.

I will be posting 8 polls (1 round) a week, and will reblog them in the middle of the week and at the end of the week.

Once we get down to one character left from each bracket, they will go against each other in semifinals until only two are left.

Winner becomes the new queen of England <3

If anyone that submitted a character has a specific image of them they'd like me to use, feel free to send it over. I'm 17 y/o

I'm already gladly infatuated with someone so please refrain from any flirting

I am deeply in love with music, poetry, books, good films, the universe of cinema in general and black coffee.

I feel very connected to space, stars and the moon especially, hence the space themed username.

I am heavily fixated on solitaire and have been for about 2 years now. It haunts my every thought and I associate everything I do or say to solitaire.

my favourite tv shows are bojack horseman, queens gambit, sherlock holmes BBC, anne with an e, young royals, umbrella academy, heartstopper, gilmore girls, I am not okay with this, the end of the f***ing world, fleabag, everything now and life is strange (not a show but feels like one)

my favourite films are the perks of being a wallflower, girl interrupted, fantastic mister fox, coraline, moonrise kingdom, all the bright places, the edge of seventeen, call me by your name, asteroid city, watership down and dead poets society.

my favourite books are solitaire, loveless, the Harry potter series, the perks of being a wallflower, a good girls guide to murder series, Mathilda, the secret garden, metamorphosis, the bell jar, the narnia series and les misérables.

I major in biology, physics, chemistry and math but I suck at most of it, I'm not really good at studying generally, but biology and chemistry is pretty interesting otherwise.

I really like cats, crystals and insects, I particularly like to collect dead insects and pin them into frames for my room. I also collect animal bones for similar reasons.

I'm pretty sure I have depression among other issues but it's rather complicated to get a diagnosis and medical help because of some personal issues, so yeah that's fun lols.

Walter and Susan; Or, When the Gates of Fairie are Shut

@gogandmagog since you were curious on the why.

When we think of Susan Pevensie, we think of a girl who became a queen; a girl who lost her kingdom, a girl who decided she wouldn't love anything who wouldn't bother loving her back.

We think of siblings betrayed--Lucy, hurt and confused by "Susan The Gentle" caring about boys, and lipstick; about Peter's short "Susan is no longer a friend to Narnia."

We think of a sensible girl, a doubting girl, a girl, not a woman, though she had to grow up twice over.

We think of "The Problem With Susan", a girl cast out of Narnia (Heaven; Salvation; call it what you will) for the crime of perceived femininity.

(So often we forget that Susan made a choice to leave.)

(Is it fair, how we think of Susan? I don't know.)

"There is such a place as fairyland - but only children can find the way to it. And they do not know that it is fairyland until they have grown so old that they forget the way. One bitter day, when they seek it and cannot find it, they realize what they have lost; and that is the tragedy of life. On that day the gates of Eden are shut behind them and the age of gold is over."

A girl: Just a girl, or a "silly, conceited young woman", who cared more about lipstick and boys than she did anything else--a girl who lost her entire family at the age of twenty-one.

Was it a punishment?

Was it a kindness?

It was a cruelty, regardless.

(Susan was Susan the Gentle, and don't tell me that wasn't a choice she made, every day she ruled.)

CS Lewis mentioned that Susan may find her own way back to Aslan's country; whether Susan would want to remains a mystery.

In contrast, we have Walter Blythe. The "hop out of kin", the dreamer, the coward (until he isn't.) The bard, the chronicler, the sacrificial lamb. Walter is not "sensible", or practical, or inclined to doubt (Note we are told he's a church member, while Jem Blythe isn't, despite being romantically linked with Minister's Daughter Faith, and isn't that interesting?)

Walter has to die in the Great War. There is no other future for him; this starry-eyed boy who knew he was signing up to die. Walter Blythe knows stories, knows he's in one, knows there's no happy ending.

Because even if had Walter lived, I do not believe the gossamer-fairy part of him would never have returned from France. Like Susan, he too would need to find Narnia on a longer, harder road, and there is no guarantee it would be the land he knew as a boy.

Only a few, who remain children at heart, can ever find that fair, lost path again; and blessed are they above mortals. They, and only they, can bring us tidings from that dear country where we once sojourned and from which we must evermore be exiles. The world calls them its singers and poets and artists and story-tellers; but they are just people who have never forgotten the way to fairyland."

The Piper called Walter, and there was no denying that call. Walter's way was set before him, and he could not stray; a different, harder path than he was promised as a boy. Walter is no exile; Walter chooses to leave, so others can take his place.

Walter dies, and everyone he loves lives.

Susan lives, and everyone she loves dies.

Now all that remains is:

Can they find their kingdoms again?

Just... very much Narnia brain right now. And I'm just very happy. I feel so warm and comfortable and homely thinking about Narnia. Thinking about the magical and wonferful feeling of being in Narnia. I miss it very much but I'm still happy feeling the warm cozy Narnia feeling. Home. Narnia is home. Makes me happy. So happy. I love Narnia. You know, I should see if I can find a forest nearby I can spend time in. Forests have always felt to comforting. Just brings back the feeling of Narnia.

Narnia Headcanons: Wood Between The Worlds.

1. The Lady of the Green Kirtle came to Narnia from the Wood Between the Worlds and she considers herself kin to The White Witch because of that. However, she doesn't actually know where she is from and Charn and it's destruction predates her by a few centuries.

2. Giants also came to Narnia from The Wood Between the Worlds. Susan reads the BFG later in life and decides they might have come from Giantland or somewhere like it.

3. There's a mix of creatures that weren't there at Narnia's creation that arrived from The Wood or from Earth.

4. The Wood Between the Worlds is connected to various points around Earth and other places. Usually through caves or deep bodies of water.

5. Bacchus is Just There in Narnia, he just showed up one day. Maybe through the Wood, maybe not.

6. Tash is from Charn and left after the Deplorable Word was spoken, wandering around the wood and wreaking havoc in other worlds. He entered Narnia not long before the Calormen arrival.

7. The Guinea Pigs are functionally immortal and are two of the sentient things living in the Wood Between The Worlds.

8. Father Christmas isn't from Narnia originally and travels through the Wood to get there. Jadis froze Narnia's pool in order to prevent him coming in and he would come around Christmastime every year for 100 years to wait for the pool to melt.

9. The Merfolk in Narnia come from Atlantis through a cave system that goes under the pools of water and opens in different oceans.

10. There are more than Eleven Pools, Jadis had been counting them before becoming ill and only got to Eleven. She's guessing a lot of the Wood's backstory but she's right.

11. The Deplorable Word loses it's power after entering the Wood, which is why it did not destroy Earth when Jadis used it to try to kill Aunt Letty.

12. Marsh Wiggles come from another world as well and they actually somewhat remember their time in the Wood. They come to Narnia a century into it's history and live in Archenland during the White Witch's reign.
