Now I can only imagine Eddie bringing Steve in with him and clutching his hand like a birthing mother. The entire time bitching about how Steve still has both of his god given nipples. Cause fun fact, nerves are different in scarred skin so tattoos over scars tend to hurt more. When it is done he is all like “Am I pretty again, Stevie? 😏”
Or Eddie being the dramatic fiend he is and uses all opportunities he can to mention his long lost nipple. Like he starts making missing person posters for his nipple. Or maybe he has a swear jar for the kids that is labeled “Eddie’s nipple fund”
Eddie is so bitchy at first that Steve has both nipples.
"You didn't even have a shirt on and they left yours alone, I had a shirt AND a vest, this was a hate crime Steven!"
He doesn't get the tattoo for ages. At first there's bandages over that area and then once they're he'll he draws one on to get a laugh out of Steve. Then he starts drawing random things there, a smiley face, a bat, two nipples, Steve's name. He commissions Will to make a missing poster for his nipple. In their next campaign there's a side quest to help locate one of the villager's nipples.
A swear jar does get created but Steve makes it and Eddie has to put in a dollar everytime he mentions his lost nipple, two dollars if it's during sex. You can imagine it fills up quickly and that's when Steve is the one to suggest a tattoo since Eddie had been talking about getting some more.
Eddie acts all tough going into the parlour that his friend works at where he's gotten his non stick and poke tats and he didn't really mind the pain of his original ones. He's a total baby about the new nipple that since yes it hurts way more, but Steve holds his hand and later gives him a kiss and tell him he a was very brave boy so it was worth it. Steve is just happy NippleGate is over.

Why does the tan fur on Andalites get neglected so much? I’m not just talking about in fan works- the TV show and comic adaptation all use pure blue, and many of the books mention blue but not tan, like all the ghostwriters just forgot. But all the book covers and most KAA books consistently use tan. I don’t know if this is really a question as much as just something I want your thoughts on but yeah there it is
animorphsficcommenter asked:
Following up on my recent question, I also just realized the books describe the tan fur as being on the lower half of the body but the book covers show it being on the upper half
Much like "why do andalites have chins?" I think this one might be down to how easy/hard it is to make certain art. The cover of Andalite Chronicles is pretty clearly "here's Some Guy we airbrushed to be blue and mouthless," hence #nipplegate1996.
Tumblr media
I don't know for sure, but it looks like at least some of that tan color might be down to them using a light-skinned human model who had certain features incompletely altered. It might be just a painting, but if the other covers are anything to go by then there's a heavily-CGIed real human somewhere under there. Also, if this is the cover K.A.A. alluded to on Reddit as having had a visible nipple in a beta copy, then that would also suggest a real model whose most hard-to-alter features (upper joints, hands, face) are partially showing through.
Visser, by contrast, takes a different approach to getting the andalite concept across.
Tumblr media
Again, there's clearly a human model involved somewhere in this process — Alloran has a belly button — but everything is a lot more blue. This is the holographic cover, so probably a different process of painting and/or CGing had to be involved. That yellow lighting might be meant to indicate tan fur, but (although it doesn't show up in the photo) Visser Three is metallic and slightly 3D on this cover, and my guess is rendering him in all-blue was necessary to get that effect.
Anyway, my guess is that the lack of tan fur on most fan art andalites is down to the same factors as brunette Tobias: people haven't read the books in a minute and/or missed one word mentioned ~3x in 63 volumes, and missed subtle differences between what's pictured and what's written.

Unpopular opinion, I guess, but I actually feel sad for the bird app refugees. I’ve been on here for a decade and I remember how it felt after nipplegate, when so many people were leaving… there’s never another place with a comparable culture, and your friends may not all be there for the same reasons, so everyone ends up scattering and things are never the same. You lose track of some friends forever, and your interactions with others are permanently altered. Your comfortable routine, if you like comfortable routines, is gone. You may eventually find a new home, or you may live on amongst the wreckage of your old one (if that’s an option), but… it still sucks.

« This is a book about [...] why the early part of this century was such a monstrous time to be famous and female. It’s about how the concept of privacy came undone and why that was a catastrophe for women. [...] Those of us who came of age around the millennium lived through Britney’s descent from virginal schoolgirl to public disgrace, through Paris’s sex tape, through Lindsay’s partying. We lived through Aaliyah’s death (and the peculiar coyness around her relationship with the man who publicly groomed her), through Janet’s humiliation in Nipplegate, through Amy’s destruction by the addictions she romanticized in her music. [...]
When I say we "lived through" these things, I don't mean merely that they happened while we were alive. Nor do I mean they were somehow ordeals that we, the public, had to suffer. (Whatever suffering there was, it belonged to the women this book is about.) What I mean is that the stories of these women, as told by the tabloid press and celebrity blogs, became vehicles through which we made sense of our own existence. For the public, tearing these women to pieces was both a social activity and a form of divination. In the entrails of their reputations, we hunted for clues about what a woman ought to be, and this has always been one of the functions of celebrity women. »

Was anyone else surprised OceanGate was the actual name of the company? I was sure it was a watergating situation, like nipplegate.

For my anon: Thanks for liking my blog!
There was kind of a "golden age" U2 fandom here in the 2010s that really peaked around 2017, but a lot of people scattered when Tumblr handed down its pointless "no porn" policy, also known as "nipplegate." I think some people believed this would prevent them from sharing fanfiction (not so), or maybe they were just being rebels, or maybe they just didn't give a shit about U2 once it became obvious that there would be no more tours or albums for a while.
The U2 fans who are still here are lovely people but there's just not much cohesion. For me, the most fun and engaging fanbase is on Twitter—unfortunately. Let's hope we can hang on.

Btw I want to share the fact that I thought that "Oceangate" was the name of the submersible incident. Like Watergate or Nipplegate or... whatever. Since adding -gate is just how we indicate a scandal now.
I cannot explain my surprise when I learned that it was actually the name of the company.

omg you're finally back :D
I am! I was active on twitter post tumblr nipplegate, I am here again because there are so few stable places for art online now. There isn't a home for all of my art on any one platform, unfortunately. I'm glad if people are happy to see my work again though! Thank you!
