i totally get not shipping jonerys but i think there's too much potential for george not to explore. i do think jon is going to be critical of dany’s methods and they’re doomed, but they have a lot in common too? like wanting to impose their beliefs and world view on others, and they can bond over having really bad pr too! i just hope that it’s more interesting than the show, for my own sanity.
I do think there's potential to explore but I just do not see the romantic potential. Their commonalities are not the sort that would make them get along. Jon's bad PR is he's a reclusive dick running off bad advice (from another Targaryen to boot) who won't explain his long term plans to people he doesnt like, sends every single one of his allies away, and is trying to break down long held prejudices in the span of a few months. Dany's bad PR seems similar except on top of "breaking down long held prejudices" she trusts violent, shady ass men at every turn (while Jon just straight up executes Slynt! Do you see Jon misstep wrt Alliser and Bowen? Yes, but he is not sitting here justifying their violence the way Dany justifies men like Daario), compromises in ways that completely undermine the prejudices she's trying to break down, and has now simply accepted that her dragons killing innocent people is an acceptable loss. Dany takes a profit off the selling of slaves and I simply do not believe Jon would react so cavalierly to Dany telling him about how she burned her slave alive to hatch her dragons, especially after whatever shenanigans Melisandre and Stannis are going to be getting up to in TWOW. Not for nothing here, but Jon does not use Ghost as a killing machine; anyone or anything Ghost has killed has been in defense of Jon while Drogon is very much a weapon of war.
Beyond that, Dany's identity is very tied up in the being the last dragon. She's going to be ten times worse in the books about finding a dragonseed in Westeros, especially if Rhaegar found out Elia was killed and married Lyanna, thereby legitimizing Jon above Dany's own claim. She's going to kill Aegon VI and destroy KL, maybe even Casterly Rock and parts of Dorne as well! The thing I think everyone overlooks here though is that she is not getting to Westeros until the very end of TWOW at the earliest! She's going to have wracked up a kill count higher than every other character on page, probably a kill count higher than the Conquerors or the Dance or the Redgrass Field. Regardless of any similarities they have in their backgrounds, what Jon is likely to feel when she lands is horror, and a fair amount of nerves. Do I think he will feel guilt for having a hand in his aunt's death, in ending the line of Targaryens? Yes, absolutely! It doesn't mean his guilt will drive him to side with a woman who lands with a slave army and then sets fire to half the continent.
And to be completely honest, if they do hook up, if she lands and she's lauded as a hero after destroying the city states of Slaver's Bay, after slaughtering the khals of the dothraki, after taking a profit off slavery and engaging in collective and cruel & unusual punishment, if murdering Aegon VI for *checks notes* being lied to about who he is and having a better claim than her but not "earning" his ending, and finds some sort of happiness with Jon, I'm saying that's 100x more misogynistic than what the show did, not to mention nauseatingly imperialist and classist. The reason I am very firm in saying Dany will go dark is because it is my opinion anything less is a betrayal of the themes of non violence, the costs of war, and the punishing of the poor. Like, Robb's murder is a tragedy but the book does not shy away from the harm he does! Dany will not (should not!) be treated any different just because she's a woman; that's like the basis of feminist theory!

One of my favorite hot takes from Dany/Rhaegar stans is that Jonerys is the gender inverse Rhaelya (as if that's a good thing lol) and Rhaelya's love was doomed to end in tragedy whereas Jonerys will fall in love, marry, and rule on the IT together and usher in a Targ Restoration with their 10 incest babies, and usher in the Spring. Mind you, I saw this take just. this. past. year. I thought getting their asses handed to them in 2019 would make Dany stans cool it with the delulu headcanons but imagine my surprise lmao. The amount of takes I see about Jon and Dany being a Elizabeth of York and Henry VII-esque couple. Like, omg, how is this still a thing in the fandom.
A lot of the fandom doesn't understand the cynical subversion that GRRM is doing with these two. Yes, at first glance Jon and Dany's stories 'parallel' each other but that's because they are actually FOILS. They are put in similar situations so readers can see how differently they act. All of their foreshadowing for 'coming together' is negative - it speaks to a relationship that is filled with animosity and betrayal. But that is exactly the point and subversion of the trope. In any other fantasy series, the same aged attractive male and female protagonists that have paralleling journeys will fall in love and live happily ever after, etc. Here, they won't be lovestruck soulmates, they will be bitter enemies.
I don't know how much of their show romance was fan service versus what was in GRRM's intended outline. I could see GRRM doing some type of romance/sexual relationship between them before shit hits the fan because I think he's too obsessed with incest not to go there, but on the other hand there doesn't seem like a lot time to make a romance work or be believable.
The problem is that he has written WAY too strong of a character in Jon to even make a semblance of attraction of any kind work. Jon has gotten to the point where shipping him with a character really doesn't work because every character people ship him with, has about 20 red flags Jon detects on the spot the second they peek their head out.
And Dany is so blatantly egotistical that Jon even IF he found her attractive, which I don't think he would, he would be turned off the second she speaks. She is so unhinged and self inflated of an ego that Jon who has no ego, would dislike her right away. And the second he sees her as a person with horrific morals he would then turn into someone completely against her.
They cannot work because no matter what people try, you cannot reasonably mold Jon into being any kind of attracted to her. Show Jon had to be forced into that relationship kicking and screaming because he spent the whole fucking season fed up with her from minute one. He has no emotions talking to her other then when he gets pissed off.
Jon hates her. Theres no solution to their dynamic other then Jon meets her and instantly hates her.
Putting Jon in a romance in the books at this point is such a bad idea that if grrm does it after the rape nonsense that was the Ygritte saga, then hes lost the plot.
Grrm you have been revoked your right to put characters into romances. You cannot be trusted.
Stay 100 feet away from Jon Snow.

Do you have any OCs in the works or previously ……… asking for a friend ™️✨✨✨
SORRY I HAD A POORLY TIMED IDENTITY CRISIS HELLO I AM BACK I HAVE A FEW OCS YES BUT I HAVE NOT DRAWN THEM :C
okokok so i have my girl Dingo who is my main girly at the moment. Shes a Australian First Nation girl who somehow for some reason got on a boat to Britain when she was 6-7 ish. She nearly starves on the boat ride over + while in britain but manages to make it onto Ogre Street and while shes getting mugged she just passes out from dehydration, starvation, lack of shelter, mal de debarquement, stress, ect, ect. but luckily Speedwagon, professional mugger, has a heart of gold nurses her back to health and then she kinda just refuses to leave the only positive human interaction shes had in the past year.
fun montage of speedwagon and dingo bonding and dingo learning the ways of the world and also how to mug people
Enter: Jonathan. And all that follows. Dingo doesn't make too much of an impact on the plot since she's like. 8 years old. she learns a minimal amount of hamon from Will Zeppeli but again. she is 8. not everyone is a natural like Jonathan is. Speedwagon tells Dingo to stay in ogre street while they go to the poison checker place but at this point shes got separation anxiety from Speedwagon so she follows despite the warnings. then the trio head to the mansion and confront dio. George dies. Dingo probably definitely gets injured here but i havent thought too much about this scene yet tbh.
Speedwagon breaking into the hospital to check on Jonathan except this time he's accompanied by an 8 year old with no social awareness and she just bursts in and starts asking "The Doctor Lady" questions before Jonathan wakes up.
Erina and Jonathan now also help Speedwagon with Dingo, they try and help with the separation anxiety but i still need to research SAD so i will figure out how they affect that later. Dingo does bond with them both and looks up to them though.
When Will rocks up for the first time, Dingo is with Speedwagon, so she doesn't have that initial first impression. but once Speedy and Dingo get caught up on the situation, Dingo starts trying to learn hamon. Speedy tries too but he sucks /affection. I think Erina should also try to learn it. i cannot remember why she didnt in the series. i will look for that later ig.
uhhhhhh training montage and also time skip to Poco. At first Dingo doesn't like poco bcos he tried to steal Speedwagons stuff but then after a while they start getting along. After watching Will get chopped in half they trauma bond </3
then fun montage of zombie killings and dio slaying and the other hamon warriors rocking up dio gets cut in half ect ect
then montage of everyone chilling and being friends and then joneri wedding and then seeing them off for the honeymoon and then boat explodes, jonathan dies, erina saves baby
Dingo is understandably distraught when she finds out what happens and then she ends up with Speedwagon in America with his Oil business for a while until she decides she wants to start learning hamon for real so she can better protect Speedy [jonathans death kinda made her realise how fickle life is and such.] Except Speedwagon says something something youre too young to be having super powers, i'll let you live with aunty erina and little george though.
and uhhhh then i invent a fun lil jojo part 1.5 focusing on Dingo and her friendship with baby george and erina and then when she goes to Tibet to finally train her hamon, she meets lil lisa lisa and they become besties and after several more years, Dingo breaks a bone or something and gets *really* sick from it. but then like, she gets better for some mysterious reason! shock! horror!
ok i need to eat dinner and go eep soon so i'll stop here but also hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii i love ur art and ur ocs im really happy that you sent me an ask im sorry for taking so long to get to it <3

Love is the bane of honour, the death of duty | The Dragonpit scene
This episode was the physical embodiment of this warning, now that I think about it. And yes! I’ve been repeatedly watching Jonerys scenes on near-loop since the episode came out because I’m in love and that killed my duty, so see, it works on multilevels 😂
When Aemon Targaryen had said this to Jon, I had thought it applied to Ygritte later, but it wasn’t it. Because with Ygritte, Jon always chose honor/duty, and though the choice wasn’t easy, he never sacrificed his duty for love (technically, he didn’t sacrifice honor for love too, he did it for duty). Of course, the lesson that Jon finally learned was that if anything can make someone forget their duty, it’s love, and no matter how honorable a man is, honor seems a small price to pay for the warmth of love. With Ygritte, though he came close, he never forgot his duty because as I’ve said numerous times, that wasn’t a choice. Be with Ygritte and let the entire Night’s Watch, countless innocents, his family and who knows who else just die? Come on, we all knew that was so not happening. But with Dany… Here is where it gets trickier and I loved how the episode set up the honor vs love clash we can expect next season.
So, the first scene (after Dany’s extra extra appearance 😂) is when Jon publicly pledges himself to Queen Daenerys of House Targaryen.
Tumblr media
Oh wait, do you hear that? The sound of complete utter silence? That’s the sound of all the antis who were loudly clamouring about how Jon is playing Dany. And that whirring sound is their brains switching to a really high gear as they desperately try to ‘reach’ for a new explanation other than Jon being in love with Dany. Funny isn’t it, how one section of the antis is completely okay with butchering his character which is literally a symbol of honesty and honor and staying true to his word. Cersei’s deliberate ‘Ned Stark’s son’ was a reminder that Jon stands for not just honor in the narrative but duty, and unnecessary cruel treachery is by no means part of that code of honor and duty; but to part of the Jonsa Fandom what matters is that he shack up with Sansa even if it be the biggest OOC action ever for him, while the other section, of course, is happy to pile hate on him because he loves someone they don’t and are now loudly proclaiming how he isn’t even good enough for Sansa anymore. Like really? Dislike a ship all you want, but in this house, we do not tolerate any disrespect of the purest of all puppies Jon Snow, and we defend his honor and will continue to do so to best of our abilities.
So anyway this scene, Cersei makes a very reasonable offer in exchange for the truce, [and of course we now know that all she was trying to do was deal with her enemies one by one by dividing them (classic Cersei)], and listen no one, not one person, even considers that Jon will turn her down, not even Daenerys!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In that moment, everyone believed that they had succeeded and it was a done deal and let’s all pack up and go home. This scene simply smashed any theories of Jon playing Dany (like any reasonable person thought he was? 🙄) Why do I say that?
Every person, most notably on Team Dragonstone looked various states of surprised/shocked when he announced his allegiance to Daenerys, not just because it was a foolish thing to do, but because none of them were aware of it happening! Dany hadn’t informed any of them about what had happened between them on the boat, which is definitely odd because if the King in the North has submitted to you, shouldn’t you inform at least your Hand about it? But she didn’t do it. Why?
Because she did not take his submission seriously. Say what you will about Dany, but she knew that his swearing allegiance to her could stem in part from an overwhelming feeling of gratitude (and possibly the other overwhelming feeling of love? 😂) and she respected him enough to give him the chance to declare his submission to her in his own time and way, without pushing him into a corner where he would have no other option but to back her. She wanted his allegiance to come of his own free will, and that, ladies and gentlemen, made me love her like crazy. It was almost like giving him a way out, because she didn’t even tell Tyrion what had happened between them, and that’s interesting because it only emphasizes how much she trusts Jon and trusts that he will be true to his word.
And Jon, oh Jon! 💖😍 If Daenerys has come far from her first meeting, he has too. If this same offer had been made before he met Dany, he would obviously have accepted it because his priority was the White Walker threat, the Northern independence and the staying as far as possible from Southern politics. This offer was literally everything he had wanted at the beginning, all neatly wrapped up and handed to him on a platter, which is why everyone expected him to accept it. Because there is no reason to refuse! Right? Right?? Now I kept saying all along that Jon wasn’t playing Dany, he couldn’t possibly be doing that because his actions are not that of a player. And no moment more strongly proves my point than this one. The ‘undercover lover’ theory could have worked if Jon had agreed to the truce. He wouldn’t even have needed to justify it to Dany or anyone else, and if he did, all he had to say was that of course he’s still loyal to her, but she doesn’t need the North as much as she needs a truce with Cersei, and she would have agreed. Like seriously, it was such a neat solution. Jon would have gotten everything he wanted without having to give anything in return, Dany wouldn’t have doubted Jon’s loyalty and would have still helped him defeat the Night King without assuming that he’s fallen in love with her (which is what she’s probably been trying to convince herself about anyway after the intense hand holding, that it was a spur of the moment thing and ’Jon Snow isn’t actually in love me and the longing stares were just him being hopeful for a successful military alliance!'😂), and of course, the antis would have had a field day because if Jon was truly in love with Daenerys, then why didn’t he publicly stand up for her in the pit? And what did our precious puppy decide to do? What he does best! Make a stand because it is the honorable thing to do, and also because there is no way he’s not going to help Daenerys take down Cersei at a time when she will need all the help she can get! It’s honor born out of love! And my Jonerys heart has never danced such a gig as it did in that moment. Because in this scene, Jon not only does the honorable thing, but he also reveals that his feelings for Dany go beyond political alliances, or the crass 'use her for her dragons’ theory.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this scene was yet another iconic moment in their relationship, when Dany - whose sole focus was winning the Iron Throne - is now giving much more importance to Jon’s original goal, and Jon - whose sole focus was defeating the White Walkers - is now giving more importance to Dany’s original goal. The dynamic is so beautiful because they haven’t just fallen in love with each other, no, they have come to understand the other’s viewpoint, they have come to know, respect and admire the other person and value their goals and give them the importance they deserve. Because if defeating the White Walkers is important to save humanity, so is defeating Cersei, who has shown time and again that all she truly cares about is her immediate family, completely disregarding the realm, unlike both Jon and Dany. Their relationship is so complex, so balanced, so beautiful. It’s not just as simple as ’ice and fire’ by any means. And this scene brought out their relationship dynamic extremely well.
So this tiny sliver of a moment between Cersei’s offer and Jon’s rejection gave me intense Jonerys feels because Dany’s trust in Jon is so unwaveringly strong that she expected, wanted even, him to agree to Cersei’s condition. Which is a glorious way to show how far she’s come from her initial stance of ’bend the knee’. Dany has realized the importance of the Northern threat and when she pledged to destroy the Night King in return for nothing, she meant it. How do I know that? Because she was willing to let Jon remain neutral ’for the greater good’. See, this is why I love Dany. The White Walkers are a threat to the entire realm, and Dany is dedicating all her forces towards their destruction, that is after losing already having lost a dragon. She could have gone the Cersei way of letting the world burn as long as it didn’t affect her, but she didn’t. [A lot of antis make her sound like a tyrant and I’m just so done, but that’s another post. This one is strictly 💖Jonerys💖]. She is actively contributing and asking for nothing in return. Cersei, on the other hand, is only being asked to not make Daenerys fight on two fronts. Dany could very well have demanded Jon Snow’s help in return later, and it would only have been fair. But she didn’t. Even knowing that after fighting the White Walkers, her forces will be heavily depleted and facing Cersei will be more difficult, Dany still does not expect/want Jon to help her. If that isn’t reason enough for Jon to support her, I don’t know what is. Antis claiming that she’s an entitled selfish supremist??? Antis claiming that Jon has zero reason to like/admire her??? When she’s thinking exactly the way Jon wanted her to, realizing the importance of the White Walkers threat and not demanding anything in return. My Jonerys heart melted at this scene! 😭💖
And of course, Dany’s face was priceless!
Tumblr media
She was so torn between ’oh you idiot, now you’ve done it’ and ’my God, I love this man’. The perfect mixture of exasperation and admiration was so perfectly pulled off! Because of course she had wanted him to agree, that was the logical thing to do. But then he didn’t, and her face is like.. Yeah, no wonder I love him. Because this is part of who Jon Snow is, and part of the reason we adore him so much. Lies and deceit don’t come easy to him, this man doesn’t lie unless he absolutely has to, unless he has no other choice, and even then it’s not easy, and that makes him the hero we all love.
Another thing I found super interesting about this scene is Jon’s choice of words, but that’ll be a whole other post.
Also, I love how their ‘together’ness is echoed in everything. They will defeat the White Walker ‘together’ and then fight to overthrow Cersei ‘together’.
*jonerys feels intensify*

you are my sunshine | a Jonerys FluffxInfinity Drabble
Um….this was inspired my a post that I shared a few days ago somewhere on my dash. It’s just fluff. I needed to write it because my life is soooo stressful and I was sick to death yesterday with a Hell Trifecta of food poisoning, migraine and heatstroke 💀 Plus work. Enjoy!
When Daenerys woke up every morning and went to sleep every night, she did so as Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, First of her Name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Realm, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons.
it was a title she had been born, fought, conquered and bled for. It was her reason for being.
And then there was the other name. The other title.
Muñnykeā
Mai
Mother
Muna
It was Muna, not the Queen, who crawled on the floor in her heavy skirts, stifling her giggle and attempting to school her face— futilely— into one of absolute seriousness.
The witch’s curse had not taken when it came to her Wolf King. Jon Snow was right. The witch was not a reliable source of information. He proved her wrong. It took about a year, not for a lack of trying, and she found herself with child. She was going to be a Muna.
The nine months of growing a babe had been exhausting, rewarding, and she savored every ache and pain and morning with her head in the chamber pot as the babe did its best to bring her to her knees. She refused.
Laboring in a snowstorm, for close to thirty hours, she gave birth to the most perfect creation the Known World had seen.
And it was the perfect creation who she surprised, popping up from the floor, her schooled face exploding into a bright smile, violet eyes expanding, sparkling like jewels, and she blew out her cheeks and shouted: "There you are!"
In the wooden seat atop the Chamber of the Painted Table, where Aegon had planned his conquest and she had planned hers, the future King of the Seven Kingdoms burst into bubbling giggles, waving his fat hands and wiggling in place. His face beamed, a bright light, as if the sun had relocated into the babe before her.
She grabbed hold of one of his waving feet, fat little pillows and soft as one too. His skin was pale velvet, chubby cheeks tinged rosy pink. His black hair curled at his ears and reminded her of silk, his eyes the same jeweled tone as hers. He was the perfect mix of them both, a true Targaryen. His fat foot kicked out again and she snagged the other one, holding them both up to her ears.
Loudly, she asked, "Who's there? Is that Aemon? Is this Aemon?"
He began to laugh, so loud and hard his belly shook, and she saw it before he even realized it was happening, head tossing back and shaking. It made her laugh, although she knew she'd have to clean up the mess, but he was so perfect and adorable and she loved him so much, it didn't matter.
Aemon kept laughing, when she did it again, kissing his feet, making loud chomping sounds. "You taste soooo good! Sooo yummy! Yummy Aemon! Gimme these feet, gimme these feet!"
What amounted to his breakfast a few hours ago came right back up, spitting out of his mouth as he kept laughing, unbothered at all that his tunic was wet, because when he paused, spit up still dribbling down his double chins, he began to laugh again, finding it uproariously hilarious that he'd been so entertained by his mother eating his feet and jumping from under the table that he'd thrown up all over himself.
He kept laughing, waving his hands, trying to snag one of her braids when she laughed, leaning forward to remove him from the chair. "Oh baby!" she exclaimed, taking the bottom of her skirt and wiping at his face, not caring at all that she was ruining her dress. She laughed again, when he squealed like a piglet, not of distress, but because she was picking him up.
She cradled him to her chest, carrying him to the basin of water on a stand near the corner of the chamber, lifting her skirts again to dip them in the water and began to clean him up.
He babbled, chubby hands trying to splash the water, and wiggling like a worm, feet shoving under her ribs. “Bah bah bah!” he chattered.
The water would not do enough and in another burst of giggles he threw up again. And laughed some more. She sighed.
“Aemon, I am afraid we need to do this in a rather undignified way,” she apologized, leaving the room and carting him down the corridor.
An Unsullied immediately followed behind her and Aemon made a face at him. If she looked very close she knew the corners of his eyes creased, maintaining full control but allowing a softness there at the sight of the future King.
By some mysterious power, Missandei appeared. “Oh no, Your Grace, can I help?” she asked, concerned.
“No, no it’s fine we had a bit too much enjoyment for the moment, but that’s perfectly alright, we will just clean up and go right back to having fun.” She kissed Aemon’s curls, humming to herself, Missandei sensing she was not needed and fading back to return to whatever she was doing before she appeared.
In Aemon’s room, she cleaned him up in the large basin for his baths, scrubbing his skin clean and pink. She kept humming, beginning to sing, softly under her breath. “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine…you make me happy…” her gaze darted through the open windows, to the gathering clouds, grinning at Aemon. “When skies are gray…my only sunshine…”
With clean clothing and linens, she placed him on the bed she sometimes slept in when he might have had a difficult night, when he was teething. She kissed his feet, singing again to him. “Who is there? Is this Aemon? Aemon’s feet! Soooo yummy!”
He laughed again, eyelids drooping, fighting sleep. He yawned, cheeks dumpling, smiling and closed his eyes, sighing, content. “My sunshine,” she breathed, dragging her finger over his curls, pushing them from his forehead. “Issa byka vēzos.”
My little sun.
He snuffled, wiggling in place and she stretched out beside him, ignoring any commitment she had, tracing his perfect lips and nose and face. “I spent,” she began, trying to smile, but finding tears overcoming her instead. “Thirty hours giving birth to you…nine months growing and keeping you safe inside me…and years…” She gasped, laughing. “Years and years wishing for you. Believing you would never happen.”
And you did, she thought, laughing again, nuzzling his sleeping face and squeezed his chubby foot. “And you throw up from laughing so hard…because I make silly sounds and kiss your feet.”
She rested her head beside his again, closing her eyes. Maybe she would take a nap too.
Until the bed shifted and she opened her eyes, peering up into the shimmery gray ones of her Wolf King. “Issa zokla,” she murmured.
“My queen,” he replied, kissing her forehead. He picked up Aemon’s foot, squeezing lightly. “He throw up from laughing so hard?”
“Yes,” she chuckled.
“Did that to me yesterday when I tried to get him to eat his midday meal and instead of trying to feed him I pretended to be Ghost eating it.” He rolled his eyes, but grinned wide, his eyes crinkled and gray irises bright. “I think everything is hilarious to him.” He paused, softening, and whispered. “That’s good. The world should be funny to him.”
Like it wasn’t for us, she deduced, nodding. She kissed Aemon’s foot and Jon kissed the other. The baby curled up, yawned, and his eyes flicked open, spotting them both. He grinned, kicking and flailing. “Ah! Ah!” he huffed, trying to reach them both.
She watched, amused, when Jon rolled into his back, bringing Aemon with him and pretended to eat his feet, sending Aemon into giggles. “Oh Jon,” she began, noticing Aemon’s belly bouncing. “Be…”
Aemon opened his mouth, spitting up, right onto Jon’s chest. And then he burst into laughter again.
“Careful,” she concluded.
Jon sighed and rolled off the bed to his feet, bouncing Aemon and singing off key. “My sunshine, my only sunshine…”
She smiled and closed her eyes, ignoring the knowledge that she had to get back to the decisions of the realm, preferring to listen to her husband’s terrible singing and her baby’s bubble laughs.
She deserved it, after all.

jonry@s calling us delusional when grrm literal denied their ship and romantic “foreshadowing” will never not be funny
Yes anon. It is. That's why instead of exploring their own ship and enjoying the fandom experience in general, they have to mock Jonsas and whine about us to stay relevant. Because they KNOW that Jonarya can't happen, especially after the release of season 8. No amount of D&D shaming could erase the fact that the persons with who GRRM had discussions about the overall story, chose to give little amount of Jon/Arya scenes in the finale season. Though this doesn't mean there would be lack of emotions on both their side in the book too, it atleast hints that we can expect no big things from their relationship either. On contrast to that you can see Sansa/ Jon relationship explored too much to discount them as a pair that didn't end up together . Imho, D&D would not have wasted that amount of time in a blank relationship when they could use their precious time to insert lots of cringe fests and nudity.
Thats y they are all teaming up together with Jonerys to pull us down and attack from all sides. Because, in the end JON DID KILL FOR SANSA.
I think as far as ASOIAF fandom is concerned "Delusional is the new brainy" 🤣🤣

2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?
oh, it's actually hard to answer bc pretty often my otps can work as brotps for me as well. it also means that when i can't ship some characters they don't work for me as friends either. not to mention that in asoiaf i'm open to many ships, and if i'm not very passionate about some it's not a sign i can't see them in romantic light.
5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
may i say any sansa ship? 😭 as well as sansa herself lmao. idk generally i can't ship characters i don't like because i'm just not interested. and it's not to say i don't like book!sansa (show!sansa is another case 💀), i just don't find her arc as intriguing and epic as arcs of some other characters. however, it's absolutely her obnoxious fandom's fault that i don't want to touch anything about her now, pairings including. sansaery? pass. sansan? i used to have a soft spot for them in my heart but now? nah. sansa x anyone? pls have mercy, she's already a fandom bicycle.
and jonsa ofc. i would never mind some crack ship as i do this one if not for their obnoxious stans that did way too much to list there right now. but this burning desire to persuade every rock on the street that your crack ship is canon will never stop being ridiculous lmao
also braime. tbh i used to low-key like them but some of their stans weirded my away lol. i get that not all of them are like that but still. it's generally my great pain when i see braime/brienne/jaime stans who are also dany/targ antis. every time i see them i cackle and run away as fast as i can crying from disappointment lmao. it's really a pity because i'm either very neutral or like in my own way all three of them.
6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?
jonrya it is! i never hated them, you know, but they never were more than siblings and brotp to me. however, later i encountered the deluded crack ship fandom that shall not be named and understood that if there is any possible romance for jon with any of his sisters-cousins we all know which one it will be lmao. also their stans are very sweet and i really like many of their takes on arya and jon! i generally love relationships of jon and arya very much so it wasn't that difficult in practice to see them in a quite different light.
7. Is there anything you used to like but can't stand now?
meta culture lmao. reading different analysis and interpretations of the text used to be very interesting to me (and still is tbh but in other fandoms) though asoiaf is a different case. imo many people aren't honest in their so called theories and analyses. i get that all of us are biased but some "meta writers'" denial of their own biases influence fandom in a bad way. it looks like too many people run to them to get answers to their questions about any minor detail as if they were grrm himself. yk instead of using their own reading comprehension lmao. you see how this meta culture ruined fandom just looking at the most delusional stans and shippers who spread their agenda by writing endless text posts full of nonsense and bullshit but styled as oh so intellectual and thoughtful analysis. it's insane how many people actually buy it and don't check canon accuracy of such claims themselves. it got to the ridiculous point when random people try to argue with you with some far-fetched embarrassing "theories" as if they were canon facts or quotes straight up from a fanfic because they read somewhere some other confused soul's post and got from a context that this quote is canon (despite the fact that it wasn't written in grrm's style at all but some people can't use their brains even if their lives depended on it it seems).
anyway it's become too long and rambly already so tldr. because of such "neutral unbiased" analyses i got the habit of fact checking almost everything i see in such posts. there's only a small amount of meta writers from targ/dany/jon/arya stans that i trust because i know by practice and following them for some time that they don't pull anything out of nowhere, back up everything they say with canon quotes, don't decontextualize anything and (that is the most important thing to me) are reasonable and open to discussion unlike so many bnfs nowadays.
8. Have you received anon hate? What about?
ah, not in this fandom yet, god bless! i think i'm not loud enough for the needed amount of time to deserve it lol. but since i'm not going anywhere soon maybe one day i will 😂
9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?
robert baratheon and tywin lannister, obviously. tbh it's pretty hard for me to hate any characters because you know. they're fictional lmao. just lines on paper, they can't hurt you. and even such dudes as tywin or robert don't get real distaste from me if they're written well enough. my problem with them lies not only in their canon crimes and shitty consequences of those but in fandom's (or at least some parts of it) unwillingness to acknowledge that they're canonically written as shitty, not as stan/pity/worship material. tywin isn't as clever as some think and robert is a coward outside of battlefield, not to mention some absolutely disgusting denial of his nature from targ antis only because the man happened to be the most vocal targ hater in-universe so these folks feel like he is their main book representative and whitewash him completely lmao
10. Most disliked arc? Why?
uugh idk even. i'm either low-key interested (or used to be at least so i can stay pretty neutral for the sake of nostalgia lol) or too indifferent to really care.
11. Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn't? Why?
all my faves have their own crowd of haters i'm afraid 😭 but let me say rhaegar. even among some dany/targ stans my man is so misunderstood lmao. it's not even his fault i dare say it's fanon about his half-imagined crimes that somehow got widespread to the unbelievable degree. and when i say they're half-imagined i'm being very generous actually. ofc he isn't perfect, no one in asoiaf is. and yes, he's a pre-series dead minor character but almost all little information about him is actually positive, not to mention the narrative itself that doesn't paint him as a villain or just a shitty dude. on the contrary, he's an idealized to some degree dead prince who could've been a good king (like some other historical targaryens, jacaerys, baelor breakspear, aemon son of jaehaerys, etc.), a mysterious yet tragic figure. i have much to say about why it's so popular to shit on him in fandom but yeah. his haters should send their complaints to grrm instead, no one forced the man to write him like that lol. and i mean that no one has to like him ofc. but it's misinterpretation of the text to claim he was intentionally written as a villain or smth by grrm.
12. Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn't? Why?
i don't know if it counts as unpopular but i would say tyrion's arc as a whole because i enjoy his character and like in my own way. i can get why some people don't like him but this man will always have his own place in my heart i must admit.
13. Unpopular opinion about XXX character?
is this unpopular tho?.. ok but renly wouldn't make a terrible king. i dare say he would be better than both robert and stannis. yes, he wasn't shown as perfect and i don't claim this. he wouldn't be the best or the most brilliant or the most just or noble. yet still better than his brothers. his flaws weren't anything other high lords didn't have, his mistakes weren't anything other lords and kings didn't do. in many ways he would make a better job than robert or stannis, too bad he died so early, even though i get why it was important for the narrative.
26. Most shippable character?
well generally for me it's the ones i love the most lol. jonerys/snowstorm is my never dying otp but i admit my sins, sometimes i just see dany with other characters (often from other fandoms pls don't @ me). however, since dany is THE fave of mine it means i would rather twist the other guy or girl to fit into the good match for her than twist her for another character in my new born crack ship lol. and i never stay for too long with the ships with which i feel they don't really fit and don't do justice for each other lol. maybe that's the reason i'm not much of a rare shipper / crack shipper afshdjdb
27. Least shippable character?
everyone i don't like? 😭 as i've said sansa for the reasons above lol. you can insert many others in her place lmao

You know. It's cool that Maisie and Kit are friends (I didn't know that they are bc I care so little for the show). But even if they hated each other. Who cares? Kit isn't Jon, he isn't even GRRM. It's the same with Maisie. Kit likes jonerys so what does it prove again? That it's objectively the one true ship? He probably would say that jonrya is as absurd as jonsa if someone did bring it up to him but it wouldn't amount to anything. People put too much weight in actor's personal opinions
Tumblr media
The actors do not matter at all when it comes to these characters and I honestly have no idea why people still care. As if Kit and Sophie being friends (they’re not) means jonsa will be endgame (they won’t). GRRM certainly doesn’t care about them so why do they?

So I just realized/thought of something today cruising through the Jonerys tag on A03. I’ve noticed it before, but never really paid much mind to it. But now with all this hate centered on the writers who allegedly hate Jon Snow - all of us who’ve written cheating or cuck or post-resurrection punishment fics or whatever - made me realize the extent of the hypocrisy in the tag/fandom.
I’m sure you guys have seen it. And maybe you’ve paid it no mind too because you, like me, just scroll past things that don’t interest you or you’re looking for a fave author or whatever. Anyway.
Are you guys familiar with the A03 Jonerys collection “Blessed Fics?” No? Let me give you a brief rundown:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Are you guys seeing a pattern here?
Ohhh, and who could forget these two gems:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And last, but certainly not least, this lovely piece of work right here:
Tumblr media
“Implied/Referenced Cheating” “Mistress Daenerys”
I find this last one particularly hilarious given the shit some writers got recently for having Jon hook up with a married Dany.
Many of these fics were written over the summer, I’m guessing when the “tag policing” phenomenon started to pick up steam, but I’m not entirely sure. Idk. I wasn’t in the tag much this summer as I was in Europe for work.
Now, it may surprise people to see me say this, but I actually am not bothered by any of these fics or their tags or their content. I truly don’t give a shit. This kind of thing doesn’t bother me nearly a faction as much as, say, a beastiality fic (and even then, I’m still able to scroll past it like an ADULT).
But anyway, yeah, I don’t care.
I know some readers hate this kind of thing though. I’ve seen people complain before about the Jon/Dany dubcon fics. Dubcon is certainly potentially divisive and “problematic”.  But again, these fics don’t have nearly the amount of discourse happening on them as the other problematic fics in the tag (aka the “Jon hater fics” or whatever you’d all like the call them).
So, it’s perfectly okay for people to write fics where Dany is kinda forced to have sex with Jon but ohhh don’t worry it’s okay cuz she grows to like it - but it’s not okay to write fics where Jon’s shown in a less than positive light?
So it seems that the discord (one of them) IS responsible for “rape” fics in the tag - because in case any of you didn’t know, dubcon, if not outright rape, is on the rape spectrum (dear god, I can’t believe I just wrote that fucking sentence, no I don’t believe their is a rape spectrum in real life, dubcon is rape in real life).
And they have been filling up the tag, oh, I’m sorry, “cleaning the tag” :
Tumblr media
....since this summer.
So how about this?
WE won’t bitch about your fantasy Jon-rapes-Dany-kinda-but-Dany-eventually-likes-it fics, and YOU stop bitching about us writing fics where Jon is somehow “punished” in the narrative.
One of the things I keep seeing get repeated in comments sections of fics is how us “Tumblrinas” are punishing Jon in our Jonerys fics for what happened in Season 8.
But...these “Modern Targcest” fics seem to be punishing Dany for some reason (as if the S8 narrative didn’t punish her enough seeing as how she went crazy and she’s fucking dead). Dany gets slapped around by Jon, Dany gets dominated by Jon, Dany takes it up the ass with Jon, Dany is blackmailed into fucking Jon, Dany is held down and fucked by Jon when she repeatedly tells him “no”...oh but again, don’t worry, cuz she likes it!
Seriously, what the fuck.
So all you “discord” bros, don’t even fucking try. Don’t. Just fucking don’t.
Write your rapey Targcest fics. I don’t care.
But do not come for me and my friends again for writing a Jon-“punishment” fic or cheating fic or cuck fic or whatever.
Stay in your lane.
We’ll stay in ours.
You do not have a claim over Season 8 content either. It’s all fucking fair game. We can write fics set in whatever timeline we wish. Season 8 fic does not equal “serious fic” - whatever the fuck you all mean by that.
As I keep saying, it’s all fanfiction. If it were 100% canon compliant, it wouldn’t be fan fiction, it’d be plagiarism. So shut up.
*Edit/added: I love how another of the arguments with this whole debacle was “If you're a true Jonerys fan, you want Jon and Dany to be 100% EQUAL!” Well, apparently not everyone wants Jon and Dany equal and it’s some of the people spouting this idiotic message.

Hey I was just wondering on your interpretation of Jonerys in the books? Because according to the bad leaks we will get Jon killing Dany, but in the book version its pretty clear that these two will marry and I don't necessarily see how those two things jive with each other, unless we get a literal repeat of the Azor Ahai/Nissa Nissa bs with them🤷🏼‍♀️ Thoughts? Because I have given up hope for the show and need some reassurance on the books after reading all of them plus the history books,,
Look, anon. Even in the fucking show these two have been paralleled to death - in a way that inextricably links their lives together, as seen here and here and here. When you learn that when Ian McElhinney (Barristan Selmy) confronted D&D about how he thought it was too early to kill off his character, it made them want to kill him more, out of spite… it makes it pretty clear what D&D are doing.
In their effort to adhere to shock and subversion… they’ve left mounds of unused foreshadowing all over the place (I’m still working on a master post of unused foreshadowing and plot elements). As you might’ve guessed, Jonerys foreshadowing is among those casualties - such as Dany mentioning she may have to enter in a political marriage at the end of season 6 before setting sail for Westeros, or the four different instances that challenge Dany’s belief that she can’t have children, that her family hasn’t seen its end, and that Longclaw will go to Jon’s children after him. As of right now, none of the leaks indicate that any of this meant anything other than dialogue filler. If it was never intended to amount to anything, then the writers should not have included these lines at all, especially in a show that was cut down from ten episodes to seven. Way, way too much emphasis was put on challenging the notion Daenerys can’t have children. It’s what a good writer might call ‘trimming the fat’ from the story, otherwise, it does nothing but muddy up the story unnecessarily.
Jonerys aside, D&D have killed so much foreshadowing in the series just to make a shocking ending (which by the way, makes no sense at all). I was flabbergasted when I read this quote from 2013:
When I asked Benioff and Weiss if it was possible to infer any overall intentionality to the upcoming 10 episodes, they sneered. “Themes are for eighth-grade book reports,” Benioff told me.
Uh, what?
As you may have seen, I already recently covered why Jon shouldn’t care so much about the incest aspect - in the comments I received, there was a great point about how Jon has borderline romantic feelings toward his cousin Arya (who he believes is his half-sister), tending to think of her when he wonders what his love interest’s (Ygritte) body looks like under all those clothes. In the original outline for the series, Jon and Arya were supposed to end up together or at least be involved in a love triangle with Tyrion.
As you see, in the books, Daenerys has already been groomed for the reality of being wedded to her brother, so her nephew won’t be some grand depature from this. She’s a dragonrider, and if the shows are to be believed, Jon will be, too - and if the majority of fans are to be believed, then there might be something magical about Targaryen blood that makes them different or unique or magical, hence the incest.
When you look at just how finely crafted this book series by GRRM is… it makes it really hard to believe that he’d throw out all of his foreshadowing for shock value.
“It’s easy to do things that are shocking or unexpected, but they have to grow out of characters. They have to grow out of situations. Otherwise, it’s just being shocking for being shocking.”—George R. R. Martin
I think we can all agree that season eight of Game of Thrones is all about futility, shock, nihilism. So, check out this quote:
Q: Early on, one critic described the TV series as bleak and embodying a nihilistic worldview, another bemoaned its “lack of moral signposts.” Have you ever worried that there’s some validity to that criticism?
A: No. That particular criticism is completely invalid. Actually, I think it’s moronic. My worldview is anything but nihilistic.—George R. R. Martin
It was George who said we’d get a bittersweet ending, not D&D. It was George who said he wanted a LotR-style ending, not D&D.
While there are many conflicting quotes out there about GRRM’s ending vs. D&D’s… This recent article published right after episode 3 had some interesting lines:
“Of course you have an emotional reaction. I mean, would I prefer they do it exactly the way I did it? Sure. It can also be… traumatic. Because sometimes their creative vision and your creative vision don’t match, and you get the famous creative differences thing — that leads to a lot of conflict.”—George R. R. Martin
My interpretation currently is that yes, Jonerys is real in the books…
(just as it was in the fucking show until they decided to abandon all preestablished groundwork and foundation) …and has been thoroughly foreshadowed - and not in a tragic way.
First of all, the series is called ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ - while this stands for many things from literal to metaphorical, I’d say it absolutely encompasses Jon and Dany. I have some very unpopular ideas that ice actually represents Daenerys and fire, Jon. Whether or not I’m right about that, we have some hints that Jon will ultimately accept his Targaryen identity…
Subtle clue about who he is, in one of his true house’s colors:
“The next time I see you, you’ll be all in black.”Jon forced himself to smile back. “It was always my color.”
He idolizes historical Targaryens:
“Daeren Targaryen was only fourteen when he conquered Dorne,” Jon said. The Young Dragon was one of his heroes.
He’d pretend to be Targaryens while playing as a child:
“I’m Prince Aemon the Dragonknight,” Jon would call out.
For Daenerys, we get this curious line:
“Mother of dragons, bride of fire…”
Bride could also be metaphorical in some way, sure, but let’s just say it’s literal. Jon is the dragon, the fire.
Okay, so for the books, I’ll try to hit the bullet points:
First and foremost, the pair are incredibly similar, both stepping into positions of rule after immersing themselves into a foreign culture, adapting to their way of life before making allies. Both Jon and Daenerys make grave mistakes while wielding power, and they learn from their mistakes. They’re being shaped into rulers.
Both fall in love, yet still feel alone:
“Her captain slept beside her, yet she was alone.” / "Even with Ygritte sleeping beside him, he felt alone.“
Daenerys dreams of her lover:
“It was never Jorah Mormont she dreamed of; her lover was always younger and more comely, though his face remained a shifting shadow.”
Jon is described as a shadow:
“A shadow half-seen behind a fluttering curtain.” / “He would be condemned to be an outsider, the silent man standing in the shadows”
Daenerys also dreams of life as a wife and mother:
“In her dream they had been man and wife, simple folk who lived a simple life in a tall stone house with a red door.”
Both dream of children they will never have:
“I might someday hold a son of my own blood in my arms.” / "I will never have a little girl.“
From Jon’s first chapter, there are hints that Benjen knows his identity and that family might someday be important to Jon:
"You don’t know what you’re asking, Jon. The Night’s Watch is a sworn brotherhood. We have no families. None of us will ever father sons. Our wife is duty. Our mistress is honor. You are a boy of fourteen, not a man, not yet. Until you have known a woman, you cannot understand what you would be giving up.”
“I don’t care about that!” Jon said hotly.
“You might, if you knew what it meant,” Benjen said. “If you knew what the oath would cost you, you might be less eager to pay the price, son.”
We have those quotes from Maester Aemon, that hint that Jon might choose love or a child over duty:
“What is honor compared to a woman’s love? What is duty against the feel of a newborn son in your arms … or the memory of a brother’s smile? Wind and words. Wind and words. We are only human, and the gods have fashioned us for love. That is our great glory, and our great tragedy.”
While yes, Aemon hints that it is both glory and tragedy, we’re coming off a long, long line of tragic Targaryen love stories - the difference here being that one of these Targaryens is out to break the wheel that destroyed so many of these star-crossed, doomed Targaryens loves (Rhaegar/Lyanna, Duncan/Jenny, Daemon/Daenerys, Aemon/Naerys, etc).
Blue roses are linked to Lyanna Stark or even House Stark in general. In a vision, Daenerys sees:
“A blue flower grew from a chink in a wall of ice, and filled the air with sweetness.”
Meanwhile, there is foreshadowing that Dany will help Jon’s effort against the white walkers with lines like these:
“He might as well wish for another thousand men, and maybe a dragon or three.”
Daenerys, herself, has a weird moment with some ants while she wakes in the Dothraki Sea, brushing them off of her body as they swarm over a wall:
“To them these tumbledown stones must loom as huge as the Wall of Westeros. The biggest wall in all the world, her brother Viserys used to say, as proud as if he’d built it himself.”
Around the same time, Jon is killed, whispering to his wolf:
“Ghost,” he whispered. Pain washed over him. He gave a grunt and fell face-first into the snow. He never felt the fourth knife. Only the cold…
Meanwhile, after ‘opening her third eye’ with some berries, Daenerys hears the call of a wolf all the way over in Essos:
“Off in the distance, a wolf howled. The sound made her feel sad and lonely.”
We can extrapolate that this is, in fact, Ghost… as first, there don’t seem to be wolves in the Dothraki Sea, but also this line from Bran also provides context:
“Here in the chill damp darkness of the tomb his third eye had finally opened. He could reach Summer whenever he wanted, and once he had even touched Ghost and talked to Jon.”
Now that we know Jon’s true name (at least according to the show), this curious line from Daenerys also hints she might marry Jon:
“A crown should not sit easy on the head. One of her royal forebears had said that, once. Some Aegon, but which one? Five Aegons had ruled the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. There would have been a sixth, but the Usurper’s dogs had murdered her brother’s son when he was still a babe at the breast. If he had lived, I might have married him.”
Meanwhile, Jon is infatuated with Val, a woman who sounds an awful lot like a precursor to Daenerys, who is a warrior woman with silver-pale hair… Jon is also reminded of Val’s hips and breasts and that she’s 'well made for whelping children’…
“The light of the half-moon turned Vals honey-blond hair a pale silver and left her cheeks as white as snow. She took a deep breath. The air tastes sweet.”
“Lonely and lovely and lethal, Jon Snow reflected, and I might have had her.”
“A warrior princess, he decided, not some willowy creature who sits up in a tower, brushing her hair and waiting for some knight to rescue her.”
As for GRRM, he told a helpful clue to director Alan Taylor circa season one of Game of Thrones:
“Anyways, he alluded to the fact that Jon and Dany were the point, kind of. That, at the time, there was a huge, vast array of characters, and Jon was a lowly, you know, bastard son. So it wasn’t clear to us at the time, but he did sort of say things that made it clear that the meeting and the convergence of Jon and Dany were sort of the point of the series. So, I was happy that a big step forward was taken in the episode I got to do this season is where he has fallen for her both, you know, emotionally and politically I think.”
But that’s not all. I did write a meta about the mother goddess Danu and her parallels with Dany - and this, to me, rings much more true to who Daenerys is in the books rather than whatever impostor is parading around in Dany’s skin on screen in season eight.
There is a lot of proof that GRRM puts a LOT of thought and detail into his books - even down to the Starks ‘howling’ and ‘growling’ and the Lannisters ‘roaring’. I’ve uncovered a cool trend where many of the names he assigns to characters reflect their numerological gemstone house colors - and the names he chooses all shed some light on the characters they are given to, such as Bran meaning ‘raven’ or Sandor meaning ‘defender of man’ or Gendry meaning ‘son-in-law’.
I’ve done a lot of thinking about these things, and I just cannot see GRRM throwing out all of his foreshadowing or all of the clever little things he’s been hinting at since book once, all for the sake of shock value or subverting expectations… That’s not his style and he speaks out against it.
Bearing that in mind, the clear mad queen is Cersei, who shares virtually every parallel to Aerys Targaryen - the way she tortures parent and child chained just out of reach from one another, the way torture sexually excites her, the way she was tortured into madness, and straight down to her wildfire use. Daenerys better fits the archetype of an anti-hero rather than a straight villain. With only two books left and still no signs of madness… I just don’t see it going down this way in the books.
As for whatever just happened with Daenerys, I’ve been given a compelling argument that in the books, as she squares off with (f)Aegon Targaryen, or, Young Griff, in an effort to expose the Mummer’s Dragon, she might accidentally set off these wildfire traps that make her look just like her father, and perhaps she even goes a little mad with grief.
Especially considering that ASOIAF is so heavily based on Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, which share countless parallels, such as:
Norn (White foxes)  → The Others (White walkers)
Sithi (Dawn children) → Singers (Children of the forest)
Witchwood  → Weirwood
The Storm King → Night’s King
Ineluki → Azor Ahai
Sorrow → Lightbringer
Black iron → Dragonglass
Nisse → Nissa Nissa
Hayholt Castle → Winterfell Castle
Green Angel Tower → Winterfell Crypts
Simon Snowlock (secret heritage) → Jon Snow
Princess Miriamele (disguised as a boy) → Arya Stark
Warring brothers King Elias/Josua → Stannis/Renly
Tailed star → Red comet
Black priest Pryrates → Red priest Melisandre
Daenerys is suspected to be the Princess Maegwin figure, a woman who “is forced to watch as forces conquer her people and is eventually driven to madness in her desperation to save them.”
You make a good point about Fire & Blood and ASOIAF prehistory, too. Aside from the doomed Targaryen love stories I mentioned earlier, we get another history book that basically gives us a rundown of various Targaryen ladies who never got to be queen. I’d say this book has a strong feminist message - and might even hint that the last vestige of House Targaryen just might accomplish what her foremothers could not - finally becoming the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.
Lastly, I’ll leave you with a clip from the man, himself, about Dany:
youtube
“From my mother’s stories, I always had this kind of sense that I was like disinherited royalty. Here was this dock that my great-grandfather built - it wasn’t ours anymore. Here was this house that my mother had been born in - we didn’t own this house anymore. We didn’t own any house, we had an apartment. So it was like, ugh, I came from greatness - like Dany! And I will take back what is mine with Fire and Blood! I think on some level, that must’ve gotten to me.”—George R. R. Martin
I could be wrong about all of this, of course… but that’s my current take. 🤷

Hi! I'm reading The Birth of a Storm in AO3 and loving it, but I have some questions for you. Do you plan to make Jonerys end game? And if so, why? Is clear that you love Dany and I cannot understand why someone that loves and respects her would pair her with the dude that killed her, no only did he killed her (he did many fucked up things to her and her people), and there are so many character that could work better or even an OC. I just dreading the time when the story gets to that part :(
Hi, thank you so much for reading my fic! I’m so glad you’re invested enough to want spoilers; this made my night.
Tumblr media
So, the basic answer to your question is yes, they will be end game. However, there are some important things you need to know.
So let me explain. Firstly, I’m not a Joenerys shipper. I don’t hate them together, but I’m not super big on it. The reason I’m not super big on it is because I agree with what you listed. Also because I don’t like Jon all that much as a character. Jon is kind of annoying to me, because he’s both entitled and self-loathing. So a decent percentage of his scenes got on my nerves and I would sometimes even skip them. I wasn’t a big shipper of it before season eight, and after season eight, even seeing Jon puts a bad taste in my mouth. Joenerys will not be a major plotpoint in my fic; it’ll be a side plot many chapters from where I currently am.
The thing is, though, I don’t consider season eight (and some of season seven) to be in-character. To me, the things the characters did, that wasn’t them. The character writing was like if someone who had read character bios explained the characters to someone else and then that someone else wrote a script. That’s season eight. So the entire thing, I just don’t consider their actions to have been their actions. So Dany burning King’s Landing, Jon murdering her- neither of those are things the characters would ever do. If the Dany and Jon in my fic heard that such a portrayal of them existed, they’d be furious and devestated.
So when Jon and Dany meet, they’re both in situations where they’re rulers out of necessity for their people, and they’ve both been seriously damaged by past relationships. Dany’s so damaged she freaks out if a man tries to so much as touch her. So they meet and it’s kinda like, “oh, this person understands me”. And then eventually, they end up falling in love. Then some shit happens and Jon dumps her, because he’s a guy and guys are The Worst™, and she’s like

and basically ignores him from that point on. So after awhile he realizes that leaving was a big fuckin’ mistake and starts pursuing her, but she wants nothing to do with it and ignores him. However, there’s a decent amount of dissent over a woman ruling and a Targaryen ruling, particularly one who didn’t grow up in Westeros. A lot of people support her for what she did for them and continues to do for them, but a lot of people really don’t like her. So, to prevent further dissent, her advisors recommend she get married. They want someone who also qualifies for the Throne rather than just a regular suitor because that will shut a lot of people up. She chooses Jon for two reasons: 1) the other option is Gendry, and she’s friends with Arya and they’re super in love and everyone knows that moving in on your friend’s man violates the girl code, and 2) Jon is the only male who has been able to make physical contact with her without her having an anxiety attack or feeling repulsed. So either way he’s the only viable option. She will eventually forgive him, but it will take a pretty long time, and he’ll need to build up her trust in him again. So it’ll be awhile, and I hope it’ll feel natural.
I have her fall in love with Jon because he’s the most logical option, and I also think he’s the most interesting option from a storytelling point of view. They have a lot in common, and they have a lot of characteristics that the other respects. I also think that Dany would feel a certain amount kinship with another Targaryen, even if neither of them knew the other was a Targaryen. Dany is magical, so I think she would probably be drawn to Jon, even if she didn’t know why initially.
If canonical Joenerys is your NOTP, I don’t think you’ll be too displeased by the ending. As I said, her and Jon being together is very much a subplot. I want her to be happy with someone she loves, and I needed to pick a logical person for that. Jon was the best fit. I hope you understand and will still give TBOAS a chance.
Thank you so much for asking, and for reading!

perfect timing | a Jonerys one shot
Here we go!  Wanted to get this done so I could start working on my Halloween fics, lol.  Enjoy :)
She leaped up, banging on the plastic divider between them and the ice, screaming. “No! Defense Qono! What the fuck!”  The rest of the Dragons fans were also pissed, the Wolves taking the puck and shooting it back down the ice. She shouted in Valyrian, banging the partition again. “Our defense sucks!”
“Good for us,” he chirped. On cue the Wolves scored, sending the sirens blaring. He and Arya screamed, waving their Wolves scarves while Dany sulked next to him. He turned, pursing his lips. “Suck it.”
“Fuck you,” she said goodnaturedly. Another few sips of beer later, she looped her arm through his. “So how is your new house working out?”
He liked his new house, was just getting used to not staying with Arya and her boyfriend Gendry. “Good, Ghost likes it.”
“Good, I’m coming over to make sure you have food in your fridge too.”
“Aye mother.”
She laughed. “So when did Ygritte finally pack up?  You didn't tell me.”
Because he didn’t like talking about his wife with his best friend, while they had been married there had always been an unacknowledged divide, because he knew Dany didn’t like Ygritte— even though she tried to be friends— just like Ygritte didn’t like Dany. Not that she hid her dislike. It had been a huge source of their problems. He was going to answer her, when Arya jabbed him hard in the ribs. “Oi!  Watch the game!”
“I am!”  And also talking to Dany. They hadn’t had a chance to really talk, between his divorce and closing on the new house and work. He’d been on nights, more work for a trauma surgeon than daytime hours.
Dany chuckled, her hand dropping to pat his knee. He drew in a sharp breath. Seven hells, he thought, her slim fingers lightly stroking the denim before she replaced her hand in her lap. She leaned a little closer to him, her head almost on his shoulder.
He could smell the lavender in her shampoo, the faintest whiff of antiseptic from the copious amounts of soap and hand sanitizer they were always using, and the soft orange scent from her hand lotion. He moved awkwardly, wondering if it would be too much to put his arm around her shoulders.
Contemplating the pros and cons of it, he almost didn’t register her shriek, followed by a loud “Seven hells!”

For the people going to meet Emilia and Nathalie at Comicpalooza, can you send them this message?
I put this on the Discord, but I want to put it here, too.
For Emilia,
Let her know how much Daenerys has meant to fans, to women, to “broken things” and how inspiring Dany’s journey has been to us. How we will continue to root for her after all she’s been through. How we grew and gained strength from her and from Emilia. How Emilia’s real life strength, kindness, charity and perseverance has been nothing short of awe-inspiring to us all.
For Nathalie,
Let her know that she has made such an important impact, specifically for WOC, in the mainstream fantasy genre. How so incredibly much it meant to see our face, our hair on screen and on a character as strong, intelligent and good-hearted as Missandei. How Nathalie’s activism and willingness to speak out for her beliefs and against wrongs is aspirational and we thank her for it.
For the both of them,
Make sure they know that no amount of shitty or questionable writing in the home stretch will destroy our care for them and their characters. They are very, very loved, both as their characters and as themselves ❤️
These ladies deserve to hear this message.
Tagging: @mhysaofdragons and @jonerys, who I’m pretty sure are going.

Do you think Jonerys was forced in Season 7? I agree that the usual ten episodes instead of seven would have probably been better, but I personally think it was decent enough.
I don’t think it was forced in terms of how other relationships were formed in Game of Thrones. Daenerys and Drogo had 2 episodes after meeting until it was uh... consensual. Ygritte and Jon had a little longer, but not too much. Robb and Tailsa had a few episodes of mutual pinning before they hooked up. I think the longest relationship that ever played out on screen would have been Theon and Sansa lol. So no the argument that it was too forced is a bit over kill because the other relationships had shorter or the same amount of time to form a relationship.

Hi.. Your page is such a wonderful read. I wish I had found this fam during that painful s7 leaks and after. Atleast happy that I found now. [PREDICTABLE SPOILER#] what do you think Jon will do when he gets to know about his bf's family bbq roast? He banished a woman who burnt a child unrelated to him but also resurrected him from death. He cannot banish D. But atleast confront her?. Any ideas.
You know what Captain? You’re asking the right questions right here.
The thing about Game of Thrones is NOT to do the same mistakes people have made before.
I’ve talked about it the week Daenerys burned the Tarlys. That scene was written and shot to remind us of Shireen’s death, and of course the Mad King’s execution of the Starks. Daenerys made such a grave mistake by burning the head and the heir of such a known House in Westeros.
Tyrion himself had warned Daenerys about this kind of behavior in their very first encounter and two seasons after it she still doesn’t get it.
Tumblr media
That’s why Daenerys is doomed to fail her goals and will certainly die next season. Each and every character who didn’t learn from those who came before them have perished.Daenerys needed to win the hearts of the Westerosi by proving herself an alternative option to those leaders people already knew. The Targaryen name carries a very negative light in Westeros. People remember the Mad King very clearly and Daenerys carried Drogon for a battle for the first time and decided to do what to those who wielded? To burn a son in front of his father just like every person in the land knows the Mad King did.
And of course that’s even worse in the North, because the ones roasted alive by the Mad King was Lord Stark and his previous heir, after Rhaegar ~kidnapped~~ the only daughter of the Warden of the North.  . The Northeners HATE the Targaryens and you can’t blame them for it. The North DOES remember and after finally getting together and declaring independence once again from Westeros, the northerners lords have now to bow to another Targaryen with  dragons who have commited the same act her mad father did. That’s too much. The Northerners will not accept Daenerys with open arms and when the news of the Tarlys arrive in the North, shit will hit the fan in a phenomenal way.
Let’s not forget how winter is here after all, and in some point the food will become an issue. Daenerys brought an army and dragons with her, that demands a lot of livestock. People in fear and hungry get really angry as we’ve seen in King’s Landing before. It’s almost impossible for Daenerys to get the support from the North, but she has a very tiny chance by protecting the northerners against the WW.  But I do believe she will fail in doing so. The Northerners will demand a rebellion when the time comes.
But You asked me about Jon.Well, I think the only ones who truly believe Jon will not care are Jonerys shippers. Jon will not be happy about it.He couldn’t stand Mance’s execution.
Tumblr media
He couldn’t stand the accusations of Shireen’s death. He won’t find it ~necessary~~. He will find it cruel and it will settle his mind about Daenerys’s character.
Tumblr media
He seemed really suspicious everytime Daenerys showed some sort of impulsive reaction. And who can blame him?Everytime a Targaryen get pissed people die and Jon has a family and an entire country to protect. He knows very well he can’t defy Daenerys especially now that she’s inside his house, in the heart of the North.
I think for the sake of surviving the WW, Jon will avoid to address all the things he disapproves in Daenerys’s behavior. He knows without her dragons his people have no chance against the Dead. That’s why he went so far to bring her North. In Jon’s mind the dead are a bigger threat than Daenerys, and he doesn’t really trust the living will be able to win.I think he will convince people to fight the WW first and deal with the crimes Daenerys did after IF they survive the Battle for the Dawn. With the amount of things bound to happen at the first 2 episodes I don’t think they will have much time to question Daenerys about it. When they try to address this subject the Lannister issue will come out and it’s going to be another sledgehammer. And I’m not even counting with the obvious drama Jon will go through about dealing with his past, his true parents and his feelings for his sister in the second episode written by our fellow Bryan “Jonsa” Cogman. The writers will find a way to put the confront after the Dead are dealt with. Just like happened with Davos and Melissandre, or Jon and Littlefinger and Daenerys and Varys.
But the point is: the murder of Sam’s family is actually meant to put Sam against Daenerys not Jon.
Jon doesn’t trust Daenerys already but he’s trying to find a way to settle terms with her in a way the North is spared after she finishes her conquest. His pride is not something he really cares about, he is worried about the safety of his people. He will not engage in a war against Daenerys and her dragons if not forced to.
That’s when Sam comes in.Sam was the person behind the Night’s Watch electing Jon as Lord Commander against his will.Sam will probably be the one to force Jon to accept his place as heir to the Throne and fight to overthrone Daenerys. Sam would use the Northerners’s opinion to force the Northerner Throne to fight against a southerner ruler. People have underestimated Sam all along when he is in fact the one behind plenty of crucial events that happened in Jon’s life. At the end of this journey Sam will be the one to reveal Jon’s parents true identity and to direct Jon on his fight for the throne.

Thanks for the ask!I hope you enjoyed it!
