Oh, how I hate Destiel, let me count the ways
Let me preface my rant by noting that I know none of these ideas are new, but I just have to get it off my chest because it’s annoying me today. (I may delete this later, but I need to say it somewhere for now.)
1) The hardcore shippers are insufferable and entitled. They also act like shipping two fictional characters is activism and throw around "homophobe" at anyone who doesn’t love their ship. It’s gross.
2) Dean and Castiel claim to be best friends while treating each other like crap a lot of the time. Cass in particular lies to and goes behind Dean's back often, while Dean is often borderline hostile with Castiel.
3) Castiel is in a stolen body. He forced Jimmy to agree to be possessed so his daughter wouldn’t have to be his vessel. So, in early, days there is no consent here. Later, Castiel is basically a parasite living off of a dead body.
4) Dean literally says Cass is like a brother to him, thus he’s not attracted to him. (He also says Castiel is like a talking dog and a baby in a trench coat. Not sexy.)
5) Dean is straight. No matter how much "bi lighting" Dean stands in or how much cake he eats, his own words and actions show he is not attracted to men.
6) Castiel broke Sam's hell wall, making him go insane and almost killing him in the long-run, just to distract and worry Dean, and I will never get over it. He doesn’t deserve Dean after doing this. And he doesn’t deserve to be in the same "family group" as Sam.
7) Angels are generally portrayed as lacking the depth of emotion that humans have, or a consistent sexual drive when they have their grace. Thus, I don’t believe he even has the capacity to be "in love" with or "attracted to" Dean.
8) Castiel takes very little responsibility for his own actions and often blames Sam for things that are partially, or entirely, his own fault. (Apocalypse #1, letting Lucifer out of the cage, etc.) This isn’t strictly ship-related but it makes me dislike him as a character and want him around both brothers less.
9) Almost every "subtext" clue that destiel shippers claim "proves" their ship has a corresponding, or greater, equivalent that would support Wincest. In short, if one thinks Destiel is real because of tiny little clues (despite Dean being straight) then they can’t rightly say Wincest doesn’t exist in the show because there is way more "subtext," and text, to support it (despite the brothers being … brothers).
10) Sam and Dean's insane relationship renders all ships outside of them pointless. I don’t ship Wincest, but it also doesn’t really bug me because they are fictional characters. I love the show strictly FOR the brothers" relationship. They love each other more than anyone else, and that what makes the show compelling.

having picked up a few shifts at the sam girl factory, I belive that sam (bi in theory) sees himself as the only hunter in the world that isn't violently heterosexual. also the whole you can never really know your brothermother thing contributed to gay dean not even being a possibility in his brain. as for gay cas? maybe in a ~doesn't get human relationships~ way
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lots of scholars in the chat…. for the record. My stance is that he knows cas is Not Straight. In a very. My buddy cas is probably gay but we’re stopping an apocalypse so idrc about that rn. I think like dean he spent a long time on the well angels are beings of light? Why would a beam of light experience romance. Beat. Unlike dean he didn’t take cas to get laid about it. I’m trying. To decide if the season 9 bout with heterosexuality seriously moved the needle for him into cas is attracted to women. I don’t even know if he remembers that due to the possession you know the possession. Which leads into: I think it’s possible. That he thinks cas is a fellow Enlightened Man unshackled by the pervasive masculinity dean has to roll up a hill every day. dean thinks cas is getting a bad grade in Being A Man for being agent beyonce. Sam iirc is bemused by this but I can see him elbowing Dean hard and going dude be nice you listen to Taylor swift but suddenly it’s gay for cas to listen to Lizzo? I think if they ever sat down and talked it would come about naturally in conversation but. I don’t think they’ve ever sat down and talked. I’m the oldest w two younger gay siblings so this isn’t 1:1 but before they came out I was like. Oh jesus this kid is gay. 100%. And then I would waver and go. Wait. Am I crazy? Am I wrong? Are they just weird in ways gay people tend to be weird? No I’m right they’re gay they just need another year or two. I can see Sam doing this in either direction. Either Oh jesus my brother is gay. Hold on. Am I crazy for thinking that? No I’m not. He’s gay. OR. Oh jesus my brother is gay. Hold on. Am I crazy for thinking that? Yeah. Repeat throughout his life half a dozen times.

I read a tweet today of a Destiel shipper saying what a tragedy it is that a “beautiful queer love story like Dean and Castiel wasn’t allowed to be talked about or acknowledged.”
Do those type of shippers, I wouldn’t call this specific person a heller though, really not understand why?
Destiel is, at the very best of times, a one sided love story IF you choose to interpret Castiel telling Dean he loved him as romantic. I do not, personally. Otherwise he would have said I’m *in* love with you. To me there’s a big difference. Especially with wording when it’s supposed to be the Big Confession™️. Plus I’m real tired of these Hellers telling me I’m homophobic with 0 evidence to back that claim up other than I pissed them off because I won’t back their version of Supernatural rather than actual canon.
Anyway, back to the original point. Destiel wasn’t a “banned topic” at first. It wasn’t until a couple years into its popularity that people (fans, cast, writers) started to stop talking about the ship at large. When the Destiel shippers really started to get that it was never going to happen. Why? Because they started harassing, bullying and telling people who didn’t ship it to go off themselves. Thus the term “desti-heller” showed up. There is a difference between a heller and your normal Destiel shipper. That harassment by the hellers got INTENSE. I remember when they went after Samantha Smith on Twitter.
Why would anyone want to talk about the ship when it’s shippers would malignly attack you when you wouldn’t support their narrative? To act like it’s just homophobia that prevented Destiel from being canon is hysterical to me. Dean was not/is not gay or bi-sexual. Castiel really can’t be defined by terms such as gay, straight, bi-sexual etc because he’s not human. He operates outside the boxes of human sexuality. Hell, the only reason we call him “him” is because Jimmy Novak is a man.
Personally I think Castiel’s story is beautiful as it comes full circle. When we first meet him he doesn’t care about The Winchesters or humanity. It ends with him telling a human he loves him. With him viewing The Winchesters as his family. More so than his angel siblings ever were to him. More so than God ever was to him. It ends with him being together with his “son” that he shares with Sam and Dean. Yes, Dean AND Sam. I know the hellers love to cut Sam out of everything to make it the Dean and Cas show. Don’t get me started on the latest discourse about who knows Dean better: Sam or Castiel. If you’re saying Castiel for that one then I really don’t know what show you’re watching.

I personally don't think that whenever there's the "they get with a curse and suddenly they're in the body of another gender" should really ever change the person's attraction, because I think that implies that sexuality is connected to your biology, and that's a load of crap.
That being said, I think that if you put Dean Winchester in the body of a female Dean would absolutely believe this means he's allowed to be attracted to guys now. Like in his mind, he's still straight, because he's female now, and that means he's supposed to be attracted to guys.
Anyways I just think it would be incredibly funny if he were to turn into a girl and suddenly be on Cas and you could not pull him away. Like he wants that dick so bad (he's always wanted his dick) and he's gotta have it before he turns back because when he turns back he won't want it anymore (he's literally just in denial).
Like Cas is over here rushing to fix Dean back the way he should be because he's so worried Dean is gonna go through one of his impending freak-outs because Cas is aware of how strongly Dean feels about his gender and Dean is just nodding along in the way he usually does when he's absolutely not listening to Cas going, "uh huh, yep, so what I'm hearing is your dick, my mouth now".
He genuinely doesn't freak out about being in this body until Cas eventually (he was stopped at least 7 times by Dean's need to have Cas's dick somewhere in him) finds the cure, and then freaks out because he doesn't want to lose Cas and he's genuinely convinced his sexuality is gonna change back with his body.
Cue Cas actually finally realizing what's going on in Dean's head (he was just so happy Dean finally kissed him and he already doesn't understand anything that goes through that man's head so he just assumed he finally did something right) and he just stops Dean's overthinking and catapults him through the seven stages of bi denial with, "Dean if you switch back I promise you I will have your dick down my throat in five minutes".
Dean has that flash through his eyes and can see Cas on his knees already so clearly that he just goes stupid and is all, "yeah, yep, absolutely let's do that."
They're dating from that point on.
It isn't until 3 months in that Dean actually figured out he's bi though, and he only does because Sam remarks on how much happier he is with Cas now and Dean's all, "Yep, I can't even be upset that curse changed my sexuality. If I'd never been hit by it I wouldn't have ever been able to get with Cas." and Sam goes through the seven stages of "my brother is an idiot" and informs Dean that your sexuality isn't tied to your body.
Dean laughs Sam off because he clearly doesn't know how these things work and it's only after he tells his story to Cas later that day laughing as he's getting changed for bed and Cas doesn't laugh and instead tells Dean that Sam is right that Dean accepts it, but instead of having a normal reaction it's just, "You mean I was allowed to suck your dick this entire time?!"
Cas stares at him going through the seven stages of grief because of his boyfriend keeping them from being together because of stupid, heteronormative thinking finally just sighs, grabs Dean behind the neck as he's just about to put his shirt on, pulls him forward and in the most tired voice he has, that somehow is still totally working for Dean, just goes, "Get on your knees right now."
And Dean shuts up in more than one way immediately.

Spn Opinions That’ll Have Me Burned at the Stake Pt. 2: Electric Boogaloo
I’m back and bitchier than ever. For reference, here’s part 1.
• Season 5 wasn’t that great.
• D*stiel isn’t real, it’s a sucky ship, and that confession scene was just the writers pandering to the rabid deancas fans cause they knew they were the only ones still watching the show lol. And they left it ambiguous enough that they could still say it was meant platonically if they needed to.
• I hate how they watered down both angels and demons post-season 5ish.
• I liked Ruby 1.0 better than Ruby 2.0.
• I hate Honey!Cas. They just did that cause they didn’t know where to take his story from there, needed him out of the way, and thought it would be funny. It was insulting.
• Jack should’ve been played by an actual child so everyone’s abuse of him would resonate with the audience for what it was (casual fans are brain dead and need to be spoon fed).
• Victor Henrikson deserved more time on the show.
• I said it in the last post, but Alex is way more interesting than Claire and should’ve been given the lead role in the wayward sisters storyline instead.
• Dean is canonically straight and for Christ sake if you guys wanted bi rep, there’s about a thousand other characters that are strongly coded or implied to be bisexual (including Sam!) but y’all didn’t focus on them because it wasn’t actually about representation, it was about making it more plausible for your dumb fetishised gay ship to actually happen (spoiler: it didn’t).
• Season 3 and Season 6 were some of the best ones, you guys just don’t have any taste.
• Claire is not Castiel’s daughter and saying she is erases Jimmy and insults her, and even Cas himself acknowledged that on the show.
• Castiel is canonically NOT gay and Misha constantly saying he is is annoying and airheaded. He’s been attracted to women IN THE SHOW and he’s not even really male, so calling him a Gay Man is reductive and just plain wrong. Also, it’s veeery sus that- given how bi/pan folks are even more underrepresented than gay people- that one of the rare times where the bi/pan label actually fits a character BETTER in CANON……. the allies and monosexuals adamantly reject it. Hm.
• “Curing” vampires or werewolves or demons shouldn’t have been a thing.
• The Winchesters cause most of the bad shit that happens and then they just force supernatural beings to fix it for them- tell me again how they’re Super Special Heroes.
• It shouldn’t be possible to make angels human by removing their grace, because (unlike demons, werewolves, etc) they were never human to start with. If you drained me of all my blood, I wouldn’t magically transform into another species, I’d fucking die.
• Making Billie go crazy was dumb.
• Rowena was one of the most interesting and charismatic characters on the whole show- they just didn’t know what to do with her character.
• The archangels, Lilith, and Azazel should’ve been the biggest threats on the show. No other knights of hell, no god and his sister, no Cain, nothing like that. Having every villain just get progressively more overpowered made the show unbelievable and repetitive and annoying.
• The kernel sanders king of hell guy was hot.
• Dean is misogynistic as HELL, homophobic, likes racist porn, is a narcissist, pervs on teen girls, & thinks all non-human people should be exterminated… and that is all CANON.
• Most of John Winchester’s abuse is fanon.
• Fans portraying Cas as a smol bby who colours in colouring books and has a bee plushie is so fucking annoying.
• Instead of having so many gigantic cosmic storylines with god and his sister and alternate dimensions and even the angel and demon tablets, they should’ve just scrapped those and made the stein family and the bmol and the alpha vampire storylines way bigger than they were. Less cosmic stuff, more earth-based stuff.
• They ruined Lucifer’s character post-season 5. Before that, he was more sympathetic and reasonable than Michael. After, he was a spoiled child hurting people for fun.
• Everything from season 7 on is garbage. All of it. There’s bits of goodness here and there but overall seasons 7-15 are trash.
• How the fuck are there actual people who are deangirls and hate Sam?? The space where your brain should be is empty, I swear to god.
• If there was gonna be any lgbt rep in the Wayward Sisters group, it should’ve been Jody and Donna instead of Claire and Kaia. Those two were boring as hell and had zero chemistry or build-up, but Jody/Donna had plenty of chemistry and was very believable.
• Meg has the best and most realistic redemption arc of anyone on the show.
• Chuck was not likeable or charismatic enough to carry off as big of a villain arc as they gave him. Also that whole thing was stupid and WAY too Out There.
• All the angels should’ve been aroace. All the demons should’ve been pan.
• I stanned Cole so hard up until he changed his mind about hating Dean. That was disappointing.
• Sam went through the same shitty childhood Dean did (plus Bonus Abuse on top of it) and he didn’t turn out Like That.
• I cannot think of a single person that was asking for a spin-off about the Winchester family, like that has to be the most boring thing.

Everrryyyone yapping abt their headcannons so ig I will too 🤭
Sam
Transgender blood freak
Fuck nasty
He/him
Came out at like 15 to Dean (he was very supportive.. maybe a lil confused. He had the spirit that's all that counts.)
Bisexual pref for women
He didn't really 'come out' as bi but Dean saw him with a dude and found out
Sam was very nonchalant abt it, Dean was going crazy.
Dean
'straight' (Gay man.)
Literally he just has severe internalised homophobia
Discovering Sam was Bi probably helped him feel more comfortable to come out
Probably also gave him a crisis 'sam just likes guys, as a guy, normally. And that's fine. Ofc it's fine. It's okay. (I'm okay)"
Didn't tell Sam till like season 11. Sam knew tho but was very supportive.
kinda wasn't Dean's fault he left it so late he had a lot of internal struggles
He/him (sorry to all the genderqueer dean truthers )
Cas
Literally doesn't care
Like hes up for anything
Any pronouns, literally no gender, any fuck is a good fuck.
Cas understands they're perceived in a masculine way. They do not care. People always use 'he'. He does not care. If someone were to use 'she'. They would not care. Use anything you want, no worries here.
Angel gendered freak cutie
Wears skirts sometimes. Those long flowy ones that reach your ankles.

Since we talked about how fandom ingores Dean is a creep i just wanted to say that's so fucking stupid like why Dean "fans" are his fans at first place they hate his realitionship with Sam and shouldn't talk with him anymore (they are always crying about wincesties but they always erase or kill Sam to make Dean happy with Cas like so you admit he loves Sam more and he would not be with Cas if Sam is here!?) or when he loves woman they call it ooc ( that's like one of the biggest parts of his character) they like nothing about him they only like the "housewife, feminist, gnc Bi king Dean" that only exist in their head. I even saw a argument about saying Dean loves Sam more than cas is creepy because Cas is "canonical" love intrest and if Dean loves his brother more than "love of his life" it would be creepy like WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. I mean we alredy knew that they don't really care about platonic realitionships but at least they were trying to look like they care. They straight up saying romantic realitionships are more important than platonic ones
you’re right and you should say it anon
tbh fandom dean feels more like someone’s oc that vaguely resembles Dean (actually fandom Dean is more like Sam bc for some reason Dean fans love giving all of Sam’s traits to Dean and then complaining that Sam is boring but whatever 🙃) which is a bummer bc dean is actually a really interesting character? I mean not as interesting as sam imo (but I’m a bit biased since I’m a samgirl through and through). and yeah as an incest shipper (and taking off my shipping goggles as someone who just loves rich, complicated relationships between siblings in fiction) Sam and dean’s relationship is just *chef’s kiss* there’s just so much there to explore I’ll never understand why you’d throw that away for destiel (plus imo sam has way more chemistry with castiel but I’m biased)

Just wondering if you can please explain to me how it's okay to describe the relationship between Crowley and Aziraphale as a "love story" even though those details are never explicitly stated or seen and are therefore subtext... but you can't accept that there is subtextual evidence in Dean's character development that implied his attraction to both genders as the story continued to develop. Yes, there are canonical instances where Dean stated he "doesn't swing that way", but they also occurred in the early seasons... before Purgatory, before his summer of love and group sex with Crowley. I'm okay with believing people when they state their sexuality... but are you okay with them changing their minds?
Is this actually about canon vs fanon? Or is it just twisting a narrative to suit how much you hate a certain ship?
I could be wrong, but I don't think *I've* described Aziraphale and Crowley as a canon love story? I've reblogged NEIL GAIMAN describing it as such. Furthermore, he never said that love was sexual, and neither have I. I enjoy Aziraphale and Crowley as a representation of queerplatonic love.
But that has nothing to do with what you're actually here to complain about.
Yes, it is actually about canon versus fanon.
In fact, destiel used to be my OTP until hellers became SO GODDAMN INSUFFERABLE in insisting their fanon is canon and attacking people over it. It's not the ship I hate, it's hellers who ruined it for me. Between the way so much destiel fiction is AU and completely changes character dynamics I like; and how hellers call other actual real life queer people homophobic, whilst wielding their own implicit biases to insist certain things MUST BE interpreted as queer NO MATTER WHAT THE CHARACTER AND THE ACTOR AND THE PEOPLE THAT WROTE DEAN SAY.
It's one thing to appreciate things you think are implied subtextual clues or things you personally vibe with and have a HEADCANON about it, but it's another thing to see Dean say on screen that he doesn't swing that way and INSIST he really does! Canon is what happens on screen. You can feel that there's implications all over the place, but that isn't the text. It's not canon.
Even his "summer of love" with Crowley does not make Dean canonically gay or bi. Lmao. First of all, that phrase shouldn't be taken seriously in the context of the show, wherein Sam is still hurt/jealous and jibing Dean about his time as a demon. We also can't take Crowley's comment about them sharing triplets, when Dean is a demon, to mean anything happened between them. He said they did "extraordinary things to triplets." That does not a homosexual encounter make.
Do you also take all the suggestive phrases about Sam and Dean to mean they're canonically incestuous? Cuz I don't, and I ship them!!
Dean is straight. He's said so in his own words many times. He's only been shown and spoken about sleeping with women.
And I'm too tired to search for late seasons dialogue now, but here's the fucking screenshot from 10.07:
Tumblr media
[ID: screenshot of Sam holding Dean's phone, displaying Dean's dating app profile. Under "seeking", Dean has listed "women." /End ID]
Now, while anyone can stomp around insisting that a person COULD do all these things and still be gay, or bi, or queer in some way, THE CANON TEXT TELLS US DEAN IS STRAIGHT.
Y'all take all the joy out of having a bi!Dean headcanon because you have to be assholes and refuse to accept (or fucking watch) canon.
Thank you, and goodnight.

do you have any hc’s that are lgbtq+ or Neurodivergent for supernatural?
Oh absolutely bestie (I’m so sorry I didn’t answer this sooner😭)
Human!Cas is definitely autistic. Even after he learns how to be human he still stumbles through it just like I do. I feel like he makes too much eye contact to compensate for his awkwardness yk?
Sam is pan. I feel like he just wants someone who would love him and take care of him. Gender and sex don’t matter, he just wants to feel accepted
Dean has ADHD. Need I explain more?
Rowena gives me bi vibes with a preference for women
Lucifer while I love him is our honorary straight
Destiel is the ultimate ADHD autism couple. Dean gets loud when he’s overstimulated but cas gets overstimulated from loud noises. They eat on the opposite side of the room so they don’t have to hear each other chew. They share a hyper fixation on horror movies. Dean daydreams a lot and cas just likes to watch him stare into space. They share a weighted blanket. Cas loves pillows and dean only uses one so every night they have to trade around pillows to get comfy. They keep their room dim because they hate how bright the bunker lights are. Cas obsessed over Stardew valley I just know it and dean teased him to no end about it
Gabriel is gay 👍
Charlie gives me sapphic ace vibes (totally not projection)

my god the revisionist history in this fandom sometimes, like.  i guess some part of me should be glad that people watching it in 2023 can watch supernatural and say, this show was not queerbaiting, dean and cas are obviously together and anyone who watches it should know, and the confession was redundant and useless, but.
guys.
i'm not saying this undercut the work of many writers who spent years layering in details of queer subtext, parallel storylines, and meaningful moments between dean and cas.  those things exist—alongside actively homophobic text, yes, but they exist, and they are important—hugely so to me.  but there is a reason why destiel is a case study in academic works on queerbaiting.  there's a wink and a nudge that comes with a lot of the queer subtext in the 2000s and 2010s, where creators can allude to their characters being queer either by having other characters joke about them or by putting them in queer situations, but the audience is supposed to be in on the ‘joke’ and nothing is meant to come of it.  nothing was meant to come of the queer subtext on supernatural.  it was always meant to be queerbaiting.
i'm going to call out season eight/season nine era specifically because it was mentioned in one of the posts i'm vaguing (if you see this—i just didn’t want to reblog yours to be grumpy and contrary so i made my own—no ill will!).  watching supernatural as season eight aired was actively painful because you would see these parallels between sam and amelia and dean and cas; you’d watch the writers layer in romantic tropes for dean and cas; you’d have dean on his knees, bloody, saying “this isn’t you, i need you;” you’d have all the deans cas was brainwashed to kill; you’d have “he’s in love…………………with humanity”—and then a fan would go up on stage in a convention and ask a simple question about the relationship between dean and cas and get eviscerated.  that's if you manage to get a question about them past the censors—oh! because questions about ‘destiel’ were literally banned.
a teenager says she’s bisexual and is booed by the convention audience and dismissed by jensen ackles (“i'm gonna pretend i don’t know what you asked,’ as i seem to recall him saying) for saying she sees a lot of herself in dean and asking if he might be bi.  homophobic jokes from the actors.  big, blow-out fights between fans and creators.  a bigwig getting on twitter and calling fans delusional for pointing out what was actively happening between the characters and what it implies (this is where misha collins’s “your not crazy” tweet came in, and let me tell you people held onto that one like it was a lifeline—because it was).  people quit the fandom then, a lot of them, because of how vicious it was.  people would send anon hate to destiel shippers telling them to kill themselves while literally quoting jared and jensen’s nasty comments on dean and cas.  after that point, even the show started trying to dismantle some of the affection between dean and cas after that point (cue someone asking about the relationship between the characters and jensen saying they don’t really have one this season, and it’s refreshing because the dean and cas thing has been blown out of proportion).
as someone who was a young adult and had imprinted on this show like a baby duckling, it was just a straight up bad time.  and i'm sorry, you cannot say that just because there was a subtextually queer connection between dean and cas at that point, the show wasn’t queerbaiting.  if the creators cannot respond to polite questions about the basic queer subtext of their show, that’s queerbaiting.  it just is.
and as for the confession?  it was hugely important.  and half of what made the confession powerful actually was “in just saying it,” not just for the characters, but also given the fraught context of the show.  in speaking it, they made it real in a way that it wasn’t before simply because of the cultural context it exists in.  they said the thing that they had forbidden.
when i say ‘unparalleled media experience’ when talking about supernatural, i really do mean it.  never have i seen a show so actively hateful towards its fans turn around and say, no, we were wrong, you were right (and then weirdly try to reverse it after the show ended????).  i stopped breathing when cas started his confession because, after the pain that came from season eight and nine, i never thought they would get as close to explicitly stated destiel again.  and then they did it.  they said that right there.  after all those years.
dean should have kissed him.

Disclaimer before you continue.
I am going to be mentioning some things that may condradict a few oneshots I have made in the past but that was years ago and these are my real views on these characters.
Also I'm a writer so I write what my readers want to see though it isn't my favorite thing bc I only find writing enjoyable because I'm writing about what I like.
Also I wanted to publish this on Bisexuality day of Pride Month but I just couldn't wait😅 So early celebrations💖💜💙
With that said please comment your own thoughts and opinions!
Okay, so to begin.
There is a big difference between Sam and Dean when it comes to their sexualities. As in the writers chose to write Sam as a comfortably straight character who isn't put in situations with other men that have him stumbling over words or actions but didn't chose to do the same for Dean.
They are the writers of the show. They didn't have to make Dean so queer.
To me Sam is 100% straight but the kind of straight that if there was an instance in which he was attracted to a man he would act on this with little to no hesitation.
Dean on the other hand is written at first like he's overcompensating, trying to prove that he is straight just like his brother BUT the situations he his put in with men can at times be mirrored with the situations Sam is put in with women.
I would also like to mention that Dean is a masculine man. Yes he enjoys certain things society deems 'girly' but most of the time he comes off as masculine.
But that shouldn't even matter because I don't know is Supernatural is aware but masculine men can be bisexual.
It isn't a new concept they aren't a dying breed. Men can drink beers, go hunting, flirt with women, love guns, cars and cowboy films and still be attracted to men.
That's just fact.
Anywhoo
The earliest instance Dean is shown to express queerness is around S4. (I am not mentioning Cas because I really don't need to to make any of my Dean is bi points) One of my favorite episodes for this is Sex and Violence.
For many reasons.
● The bad guy is established to kill his victims by causing them to fall in love with him which would then allow him to kill them.
And the method used is swapping saliva, so kissing.
So when Dean is put under this trance and Sam finds out that Nick Monroe is the monster they're after he never questions how he his saliva came into contact with Dean. Most likely just assuming and completely okay with the fact that they kissed or engaged in sexual activity.
Also I would like to note that Nick was with Dean at the same time Sam was with the hospital lady.
It's almost as if they both had love interests for the episode.. hmm *strokes not existent beard thoughtfully*
● Another point which is real fact with proof that I can't believe actually exists is that back in 2009 (when the episode came out) the actor who plays Nick Monroe (one of my favorite ppl love him on 9-1-1 Lonestar😍) had and interview or something like that where he admits that upon reading the script he believed his affect over Dean was mean't to be romantic/sexual and not brotherly like the tried to pass it off as.
(You can look up the article on google)
●Lastly, during my rewatch of SPN during each episode I watch I go to IMDB to look and trivia of the episode and or reviews and most the reviews for this episode (Sex and Violence) were about how viewers believed it was mean't to be the start of Dean's bisexuality in the show.
Some of them go into good detail so you should definitely look at them.
S5 enters Dean's 'man crush' on Dr Sexy and scenes such as Dean casually lifting up a blanket to see a guys dick, the scene with 'The Chief' which tbh I just find funny and so forth.
But ignoring all the small moments of bisexual awkwardness I'm gonna jump straight to Dean and Reoccuring Male Characters
● Leo
I'm going to do this in order of Dean's oldest male lovers to newest (with the ommison of Castiel.)
We meet Leo Webb is S15, he's an old 'friend' of Dean's I'm guessing they would have met when Dean was around 23-24.
I love to headcanon that Lee was Dean's first romantic relationship with another man and Lee helped him to be comfortable with himself.
In the episode they are obviously hinted at to have been more than friend and are told that they had fivesome with three triplets meaning they canonically had sex.
This again is something writers did not need to add but I feel as though the only way they could get away with Dean have sex with other man is if they stuck a few women in the middle.
Another moment mentioned was when they reminised about how they got drunk on a hunt (leaving what else could have happened to the viewers imagination)
To be honest I wish Lee was introduced earlier because I love what he adds to Dean's character but I'm surprised they even gave us him at all seeing as I thought s15 was going to be strictly Destiel.
In canon his character was a 7/10
And when left to the imagination or with subtext included 9/10
(Note: I'm going off what I remeber about this episode because I physically and mentally cannot watch s15 again)
●Crowley
Dean hated Crowley until he became a demon which allowed them to become close friends. There isn't much I can say about them because their relationship was not romantic only sexual.
But is VERY canon that they had sex- albeit it was in threesomes, foursomes etc
●Benny
Benny was a vampire. Dean was supposed to hate him but the character was made to act like a rebound for Dean after his fall out with Cas.
(I'm gonna do a proper Destiel take later but just for now I'll mention it.)
It's a common trope in televsion that when a couple breaks up (Dean and Cas) in the following season or episode a new love interest arrives (Benny) to stur things up and crrate a love triangle.
Benny and Dean became very close and whether or not they were aware of their feelings for each other is unknown. But it was incredibly upsetting when Dean was forced to kill the man he clearly had feelings for to save his brother.
Benny was a great character on his own or with Dean and it was such a let down to see him killed so quickly.
●Aaron
Okay this one is a bit funny but let me be CLEAR I don't believe an attraction ever really passed between Aaron and Dean.
Let me explain.
The scene we all know and love where Aaron is tailing Dean and Dean gets all flustered after Aaron lies and says he was hoping to maybe get a date with Dean is amazing.
The bisexual flusteredness of Dean and how he handled it was hilarious.
But in all seriousness I feel like Dean was only so flustered because he was isn't open about what he believes only he knows so Aarons attraction to him caught him off gaurd.
Fun Fact: There is a recording of the SPN writers talking about how they wrote the scene to play on Dean's queer panic and how it could open doors for people to see him as more than just into girls etc
●Arthur Ketch
Okay this one is just for me but OH MY GOD why did Mary have to sleep with Ketch??? Him and Dean could have had the best hate sex ever 😫
Anywayss *wipes tear* here are some honerable mentions.
○Gunner Lawless
First of all SPN KNEW what they were doing when they intercut Sam meeting his first crush (a woman) with Dean meeting his favorite wrestler/obvious crush (A man)
Dean's obsession with Gunner was similar to Sam's and was no different from how anybody else would act around their celebrity crush.
Also they definitely fucked (I know it in my soul.)
○Donnie The Bartender
Okay so we ALL loved when Dean decided to spend his time away from Sam and outside the bunker doing something he found fun.
Eating nachos, hustling rich kids and flirting with the cute bartender.
I wish they interacted more but the single wink has to suffice I guess.
I still have to make a fic where Dean goes home with him bc that totally would have happend.

Oh my gosh I'm so tired so I have to end here
In conclusion Dean Winchester is Bisexual and SPN writers are pussies
Stay tunned for my Destiel part😁
goodnight everybody👋🏾😴

Unfamiliar blood adorned (Y/n)’s arms and face, his body heaved with each breath. He’d been tackled by the shifter, it had to have taken a shine to him. Eventually, with Dean’s help, he came out on top and stabbed it with his silver blade. His hands gripped the knife’s handle with all his strength. Aside from the blood coating his hand, his knuckles were white.
“I think you got him.” The older loomed over his hulking friend. He couldn’t help but let his eyes scan his exhausted form. With each breath his shoulders would fall, his strong legs were defined in his crouched position. Both strong hands clenched, showing off each vein. Finally (Y/n) sighed, standing up over the lifeless corpse of the creature once disguised as human.
He rolled his shoulders and popped his neck, finally letting himself relax. “Surprised you didn’t have more to say. Somethin’ real dumb like ‘You done?” A smirk appeared on the lanky man, using his best mocking impression of Dean. “Hey, I don’t sound like that. ‘Sides I woulda said somethin like ‘damn, take it personal?” He chuckled at his own comment, a matching smile pulling at his lips.
It seemed like (Y/n)’s wounds only got worse, getting tackled by the shifter having left him with a few more gouges. This time they covered his shoulders and clavicle. “Alright, twig, take it off.” Dean rummaged through their almost limitless first-aid supplies. He plucked gauze, peroxide, ointment and a bandage from the bag. The older couldn’t help but let his eyes wander a bit, looking down to his friend’s well defined abs and laterals. His body was like a swimmer's, plus some extra beef. “Lay it on me, doc.” He pat his chest, grimacing at the poor choice.
After his bandages and medicine were all set, (Y/n) was sent off to take it easy by ‘Dr. Sexy’. Though, Dean insisted he kept his hoodie off. “I feel so naked.” He wrapped an itchy throw blanket around himself. Everything on his shoulders and neck ached, each muscle felt like they’d worked for hours.
Anytime a wince or groan left him, Dean would look in his direction. Usually after an expression of pain the older would either ask if he was alright, or just stare for a few seconds. At some point he’d ‘gotten sick of his complaining’ and stood from his bed, returning to the first aid bag. “What’re you doin?” “Shutting you up.” He threatened, pulling a fabric bag full of rice from the ziploc. The microwave hummed faintly, heating the little bag of goodness. Dean stood beside it and looked at the floor, refusing to make eye contact with (Y/n).
Once the hot fabric hit his neck a moan immediately left his lips, practically clawing to get closer to the warmth. Standing by was a visibly flustered Dean, biting at the inside of his lips and looking around frantically. Sam had been ignoring the whole scene. At least until he noticed a chance to make fun of his brother. “You alright Dean? You’re lookin a little red there, pal.” The shit eating grin he wore permeated his words. “Oh I’m doing great, just fine.” The oldest’s eyes remained straight forward, not connecting with his brother or his current issue.
Sitting on the floor, (Y/n) was none the wiser to the problem he’d started. Eventually he tilted his head back to look at Sam, “Can I put my hoodie on now?” He asked innocently. Both brothers wondered how he was this oblivious for this long. “Yeah, yeah. It’s in the kitchen.” Dean coughed into his hand, still avoiding his friend’s gaze. The fear that he would get caught by said friend was stronger than his will to look at the beautiful image. “Okay.”
Sleep that night was difficult for the eldest Winchester, it seemed anything he tried he couldn’t stop his thoughts. It was either extremely depressing late night bullshit, or unbelievably horny thoughts about (Y/n). “Fuck.” He whispered to himself. While his eyes remained closed, he let himself explore the thought of his friend, rather than old trauma. Each view he had of the skinny man was a blessing in his eyes, being able to see the well defined body must have been good karma. His session of reveling in dirty thoughts was ruined by the obnoxious squeaking of the leather couch.
“Hey, stop moving. Tryna sleep here.” He grumbled out a half ass excuse in the sound’s direction. “Sorry.” The familiar voice of (Y/n) could be heard across the room. Seems he couldn’t fall asleep either. A groan left Dean, he sat up from his bed and grabbed a shirt. Standing up he walked to his new interest, who was pathetically curled up in the fetal position. Though there weren’t many other choices, given his height. “Get up, let’s go outside. I want a drink.” He kicked the leg of the rickety couch. (Y/n) sat up, alarmed at the sudden movement. “Okay, gimme a sec.”
Outside was dark and cold, leading Dean to curse himself for not bringing a better shirt. It’s Indiana, why was it glacial? “You look cold.” A voice brought him from his self deprecating thoughts. “Nah, I’m fine.” He sniffed, wiping his nose and looking away from his companion. “I can lend you my hoodie to wear for the walk.” Dean wasn’t even given time to think about it, as (Y/n) was already pulling it off. Revealing a graphic tee underneath. The older caught the heavy fabric, confused on why it was so dense. “Carhartt.” He mumbled, rubbing the fabric between his calloused fingers.
Dean, as a matter of fact, did not take off the hoodie when they got inside. He wanted to experience the feeling of clothes that weren’t his for once. It seemed (Y/n) didn’t mind much, not if it was his favorite Winchester, or so Dean claims. “Yeah, that’s why Sammy doesn’t let me use his laptop anymore.” He chuckled, swishing around a drink in his glass. He wasn’t even sure what it was, just that it tasted okay and was alcoholic. Meanwhile the other settled for flat soda. “I mean for good reason. I know my sister would whoop me for touching any of her stuff.” A small laugh escaped the taller.
A bonding moment was always nice, and it seemed that’s what the two were having. (Y/n) smiled down at his tipsy friend. “You’re sister, is she doing okay?” He wouldn’t look at him, not without his hoodie on. Without the dense fabric, both of his arms were exposed. This meant the in-denial-bisexual would have to pry his eyes away if they connected. “She’s doin good, last I heard. She had a kid, man. A little girl.” Dean could hear the happiness in his voice, but saw how distraught he was.
“You ever get to meet her?” He finally connected their eyes when he asked, hoping to relieve his sadness somewhat. “No, she’s almost a year old now.” The sadness was obvious, he’d always want to be there for his sister, just like Dean was with Sam. Though (Y/n) was the youngest and his sister was the oldest, he was always the one to care for her. “That sucks man.” The older man mumbled, trying his best to express his remorse. “It’s okay, I’ll meet her someday.”
After a few more drinks, Dean was buzzed enough to use it as an excuse. “Hey, hey. (Y/n). Hey.” The shorter man had a playful smile and a plan. “What?” His smile widened. “Why do you wear this hoodie all the time?” To emphasize his words he pulled on the fabric. “Oh, people would always make fun of me for being a twig, so now I just cover up.” Dean’s smile dropped the moment he heard that. “Really?” He couldn’t believe it, not for a second. “Dude you’re built like an armored limo.” (Y/n) chuckled at the description. “Not always.”
“So you’re telling me, that you used to be a glorified skeleton with skin. I don’t believe you.” Dean scoffed, there was no way he wasn’t always built like this. He was a hunter for Christ's sake. “I didn’t grow up in the business like you and your brother. We’re back.” He smacked his drunk friend’s chest, pointing out their motel.
They both stopped walking, Dean having stopped first. “What’s wrong?” Silence filled the air. One was staring at the ground, the other leaned forward. “Do you not wanna wake up Sam? We can just sit out-“ (Y/n)’s attempt at consoling his older friend was interrupted by said friend kissing him
