My redneck neighbor Doug's interpretations on various 'Bad Batch' characters: Side Character Edition!
I'm chuffed that everyone thinks my neighbor Doug is funny: he really is a gem. I had no idea we'd bond over Star Wars and crappy weather, but here we are.
Naturally, I had to bother him about other characters that showed up on The Bad Batch, so, here we go!
Tumblr media
Phee Genoa: Ah-ha, that there’s Church Lady. You know her, she’s got a big square in her pocketbook and you don’t know if it’s pound cake or a brick, because the Lord saves but He can’t help you in the alley when you’re in Treme and the streetlights just turned on. She has two ex-husbands who are both preachers and they turned to Jesus because they are so scared of Church Lady in court.
(So I guess he’s saying Phee has raw WHO DAT energy, for my Saints fans out there)
Cid: Looking at this fat lizard bitch makes me hungry. I call that one Houma-BBQ because I’m guessing we could feed a whole parish fire station based on the size of her tail. I wish she’d shut up, she reminds me of my mother-in-law.
Cad Bane: Homeboy looks like a Sesame Street character who teaches Big Bird about concealed carry laws. I call him Gun Safety Muppet. I don’t like him because he shot my Wife and I’s Boyfriend on the other show and his robot needs to be tossed into a wood chipper.
(“I’m not gay, but Jenny and I…well, we would make an exception to that man. You ever see ‘Deadwood’? Man is fine. I’m not GAY.”)
Fennec Shand: That’s The Chick that’s in Everything. She was on ER and Boba Fett and I think a Marvel show too? I like her. Hope she kills Gun Safety Muppet and hurls his blue ass into a dumpster.
Howzer: That’s my niece’s boyfriend, Jorge. We all love Jorge, nice guy, owns an auto repair shop and always remembers plates and napkins for the cookouts after church.
Gregor: Jorge’s cousin, Manny. Met him once at Christmas in Miami, nice guy, only drinks brown liquor and insists everyone arm wrestle him. But he’s got a good job as a PE teacher, we respect education, come on now.
The Martez Sisters: Aw, man, it’s Jorge’s Unemployed Sisters. I hate it when they show up for Christmas and get into fights with my momma.
(“Doug, you know they’re not related to the clones at all, right?” “Says who?” “The PLOT?” “Eh, they’ll change it, just watch.”)
Mayday: Aw, I liked this guy so much! That’s Sassy Park Ranger, he’s the type that gives you your camping permits, warns you about the bears, and then is all disappointed when you don’t properly stow your food and the bears destroy the campsite. I need to go back to Little River Canyon, that place was pretty.
Lt. Nolan: THAT STUPID BLOND JACKASS. (Doug was so enraged by the guy he had nothing else to add. Damn.)
Senator Chuchi: Why does this lady make me want a blue slushie? I’ll call her the Sonic Special. They need more Sonics here in the north, they really do.
Cody: That’s Obi-Wan’s Boyfriend, he’s sad all the time. We know why. (Confirmed that Doug is a Codywan shipper and I don’t know what to do about that)
Royce Hemlock: Is that Jimmy Neutron after he grew up and became one of those guys that’s on the internet all the time writing creepy things? It’s Jimmy-the-Scientist. He looks like the type of person dogs get weird around.
Rex: That's Rex. He's a king. Respect him.

Rexsoka. Yeah, it's my ship. Still.
I mainly just lurk here, reading fanfic and enjoying the memes. But the angst of the last few has given me the courage to dive in and say a few words.
First, let me clear the air: Rebels was when I started shipping Rexsoka. Prior to their reunion on that show, it had never ever occurred to me to ship them. Despite having read the novels.
So, yeah, look, I totally get the opposition to shipping early Clone Wars Rex and Ahsoka. She's a child. He's a child too, arguably, although his accelerated maturation makes everything super messy. The military structure and fact that Rex is basically a slave means its got power issues galore. Then for those in the US, there is the whole 18 year old age of consent thing (noting, for good or ill, it's 16 most other places). I get why this squicks people. It's the SanSan of Star Wars.
But people grow up. Even on TV.
Season 7 Ahsoka is 17 going on 18, and effectively an adult. She's commanded armies, and just spent a year living and working independently. She is also obviously mature and, frankly, animated that way. Rex is a long term friend, they love and care for each other, and by the end of the season, she basically risks everything for him, and he for her. The episodes are also written in a very obviously shippy way, with the gazing, the chats, the meaningful converstions, the hand holding and the tears. Not to mention that sad, moonlit reunion in Tales of the Jedi.
And although I dont think it matters much, by this time, even taking Rex at double chronological age, the gap is pretty mild by fantasy standards. 17-18 and about 26, roughly the same as Buffy and age-corrected Angel, and way less than Han and Leia.
Fast forward to Rebels, and we have two mature adults with a shared history and goals, who love, trust and admire each other, share common interests, and are amongst the most important people in each other's lives. It's a believable and natural thing for that to progress to something more. The challenges to their relationship are things like, for Ahsoka, the lingering memory of the Jedi code and Anakin and Padme's destructive passion, and Rex's rapid aging, status and limited life experiences. It is those kinds of emotional and external barriers and their shared trauma that make the romance so interesting.
Season 7 + and Rebels Rexsoka is classic friends to lovers, and one of the nicest, softest and most realistic relationships in Star Wars. The opposition to it, and moraliatic shaming of those who like is, is something I simply don't get. It's bizarre. There are heaps of ships that are far, far more problematic (including Anakin/Padme) that don't get this hate.
Like, anti dudes, what exactly *is* the problem here? I suspect the it's that some people just want to get their hate on.
The recent flashbacks? Yeah, that one on Mandalore complicates thing, but I doubt they had stomping on shippers in mind when they cast Ariana, as I have seen suggested elsewhere. The more likely scenario is that - at about 14 yo when this was filmed - Ariana was totally perfect for the first flashback, and is perfect for playing young Ahsoka going forward. Even setting aside that she is an amazing actress, she's insanely athletic and can duel weild light sabres while knee walking though a twist. She's also already tied to Disney. She wasn't quite right for the part, and, I agree, that does make watching it in light of the fanfic a bit uncomfortable. But, it's not just a shipper issue. Putting an Ahsoka that looks and sounds like that in the episodes with the Martez sisters and Bo Katan is weird af too, and doesn't work. I doubt it is meant to.
Story-wise, the best and only real take is that the flashbacks aren't live action replays. The Mandalore scene doesnt even chronologically match what happened (Ahsoka is so fighting Saxon in that scene, which never happened). They are visions about Ahsoka and Anakin and their relationship, not live action replays. Both remember her as a child caught up in a war. Smoke, the fog of war, flashing lights and dying, faceless clones.
And Anakin and Rex.
What I take from these is that in Ahsoka's mind, and Anakin's too for that matter, Rex is always there for her. Standing in the chaos, calm and confident in himself and in her, and looking badass as heck. With an older Ahsoka it would have absolutely been smoking scene from her pov, and no way was it written otherwise. As an older Ahsoka remembering, it's hot. As younger Ahsoka, he's there as her protector and friend.
Do I do ever think this ship will play out on screen? Not, no explicitly. And, yeah, it probably is harder now because of that vision (although if they ever do film a younger Ahsoka series, they will undoubtedly be casting a young actor for Rex, and Ariana will, by then, be 18). But I don't think that was intentional, and I don't think that much has changed. It was always intended to be an "open for interpretation" relationship, written with the possibility not excluded. And I am good with that. Perhaps I even prefer it. Star Wars has a truly dreadful record with romance and, besides, too often cementing subtle or ust-based ships kill them. I just hope this hasn't, because it's still my ship and I love it.

Clone Trooper X
Okay, since there’s been a lot of discussion around CX-1 from the season 3 trailer, I want to give us all a little refresher on how the original Clone X was revealed to us in season 2, the similarities they’re showing between him and CX-1, and what purpose they might be serving in the story.
This is not meant to engage discussion on whether the helmeted CX paratrooper in the trailer is Tech. We don’t know yet if the helmeted clone and the helmetless, deep-voiced clone are the same, or two different CX troopers. All we know is that the helmetless one who has spoken lines in the trailer, is named CX-1 in the subtitles.
Season 2:
We are introduced to the assassin clone known as Clone X in the beginning of episode 7, The Clone Conspiracy, as he is tracking and firing on two clones who were there during the destruction of Kamino and had been contemplating revealing Rampart’s deceptions. Many people thought this could be Crosshair, but based on his less skillful shooting ability and the faint glimpses of his unusual armor, I didn’t think it was.
We then see him fully via a holocall to Rampart, where the garble of his helmet (again, very different than a regular helmet modulator) conceals his identity as he is told to hunt down Slip and Chuchi. Later he finds and kills Slip and several of Chuchi’s guards, attempting to kill her during a prolonged chase (for an assassin, his shots are noticeably not as precise as Crosshair’s or many bounty hunters are), and Captain Rex as well, who appears out of the fog and saves her. He had been in the area to help Slip get to safety, and ended up stunning CX and bringing him into the Martez sisters’ garage for interrogation.
This of course ends up being the most fascinating aspect of this clone’s arc. Rex undoes his helmet and both he and Chuchi are shocked to find a familiar clone face hidden beneath it. Chuchi wonders why a trooper would be doing this and Rex feels like they’re not a trooper at all, but that he doesn’t know what they are. Once CX wakes up from being stunned, Rex tries to get him to talk and find out who sent him and what his mission is, but he stays stubbornly silent.
Once Rex offers to release him if he’ll just talk, he begrudgingly spits out “no you won’t, Captain Rex,” showing that he knows who Rex is and that he doesn’t seem to be surprised that he is alive, even though Rex’s official records state he died. CX then hauntingly says “You’re fighting the wrong battle, brother—you’re limited.” When Rex asks him what that makes him, he responds even more chillingly “a believer” before biting down on a suicide capsule.
None of this terminology or behavior is normal for clones or imperial troops that we have ever seen before. He appears to have been brainwashed in some manner that is very different than any enhancements or conditioning that Crosshair went through or that other imperial clones such as Cody seem to demonstrate. He has become a tool solely at the disposal of Rampart and whoever else in the Empire is putting him to use.
This seems to be confirmed in the next episode, where in examining his body, Rex had determined that all of his original CT identifications implanted by the Kaminoans had been wiped. Perhaps his mind had been too. CX is said to have been born in the first wave of troopers in 32 BBY, which would explain how he knows Rex, and that he is not a new clone creation but an original CT trooper who has been “repurposed” for this program.
Note that in this season we don’t get an answer on who is actually overseeing his training or brainwashing or anything else related to him. He seemed to be taking orders only from Rampart, but with Rampart off the stage after these episodes, it seemed likely that this CX program was bigger than just Rampart’s department or efforts. Sure enough, season 3 seems to be confirming that.
Season 3 (TRAILER SPOILERS AHEAD):
We see at least one, perhaps two new CX troopers in the season 3 trailer. A clone assassin named CX-1 has voiceover that precedes the reveals of an imperial commando, the bounty hunters we’ll see this season, as well as Nala Se with the words “They are coming…” and then it switches to the visual of his face as he finishes “for ALL of you.” And the visuals then show a quick sequence of the majority of our heroes—Wolffe, Hunter, Rex, Echo, Fireball, and Omega, and Wrecker—the “all of you”. This speaking clone has the same generic face and haircut that CX showed in season 2, as well as the same deeper register but with a honeyed smoothness to his voice that is very different from the rest of the regs or the gravelly pitches of the Batch boys. All in all, he seems like a copy (I know I know) of CX in season 2.
In both instances, it appears the X troopers dialogue comes when they are being interrogated by someone they were trying to hunt down. Beyond that, we still don’t know much about their origin and purpose in the broader shift away from CT to TK troopers mingled with Palpatine’s cloning efforts.
Also, I just can’t stop thinking about both troopers’ voices. Why are they so much deeper? And CX-1’s smoothness compared to most of the clones makes me think that the X-number troopers are clones of CX and much younger? Their voices haven’t had as much usage as the clones who have been through the entire war? I don’t know. It’s intriguing though.
I am fascinated to see exactly how much more expansive of a role the X troopers and potentially their program are going to serve in this season. Perhaps they will remain mysterious and simply be yet another way that Palpatine and Hemlock have twisted the clones’ existence to suit their purpose, and to act as a harbinger for what’s to come. Or perhaps they will be a pivotal hinge of this season in more depth this time. We shall see.
Now go forth and speculate 😁

Remember us—if at all—not as lost violent souls, but only as the hollow men.
—T. S. Eliot, “The Hollow Men”
The Marauder pushed off the landing platform with a roar of thrusters and rose through the underworld portal until it disappeared in the swirl of air speeder and starship traffic. The repair shop where Rex had set up his base of operations was deep in the lower levels of Coruscant, and Echo knew the ship would keep ascending long after he lost sight of it before it reached the surface. His decision to part ways with the Batch had seemed very straightforward and logical as he’d discussed it with Hunter, Wrecker, and Tech, but in the face of Omega’s tearful farewell, his resolve had nearly crumbled.
He knew that the rest of the Batch would never let any harm come to the girl; her safety was their only priority. But Echo needed to do more to help his fellow clones, and with Rex, he would finally be in a position to do so. And so he merely watched as the ship departed, bearing his brothers and sister back to Ord Mantell and Cid’s endlessly questionable jobs.
He turned to rejoin Rex and Senator Chuchi. They had been conversing discreetly, giving him privacy and space as he said his goodbyes. The senator watched him now, her luminous eyes soft.
“It’s very brave of you, Echo, to stay behind and join our network after everything you’ve been through,” she said.
“Thank you, Senator,” he said, “but I’ve never been one to back down from a fight.”
“Please, call me Riyo,” she said.
Echo nodded as Rex clapped him on the shoulder.
“Come on, brother,” his old captain said. “I’ll show you around.”
The tour didn’t take long. The repair shop apparently belonged to Trace Martez, the young thief Echo had encountered on Corellia. Rex had taken over the shop when Coruscant got a little too hot for the Martez sisters’ comfort. It was a mutually beneficial arrangement: Rex needed a home base, and Trace needed someone to make sure the shop didn’t fall victim to the seedier elements of the underworld. Rex had set up a kitchen, a temporary barracks, and a small training gym at the back of the shop. There was a tiny room that served as a makeshift office and command center, and finally a communal refresher with two open shower stalls, an enclosed toilet, and a small sink. The garage contained few creature comforts; mostly they just used crates for furniture, though there was a broken-down old sofa with a holotable set up in front of it.
The accommodations were spare and shabby, which was familiar to Echo, but he was struck by how out-of-place Riyo looked in the shop. With her elegant clothing and elaborate hairstyle, she looked far too delicate and fine for her surroundings. Still, she didn’t display either judgment or discomfort at the sparseness of the shop. Echo stole occasional glances at her, admiring the soft curves of her face, the graceful line of her throat, the way her wide, intelligent eyes took in everything around her, missing not a single detail. He wondered how to describe the exact shade of her hair. Was it mauve? Or maybe violet was more accurate. Her gaze shifted to him, and he looked away quickly.
The unmistakable whine of a speeder bike landing on the platform outside interrupted his train of thought, and soon footsteps echoed through the shop.
“Rex? You here?” a woman’s voice called.
“Back here, Cerra,” Rex replied. “I have someone I want you to meet.”
The woman strode into view, faltering a little when she spotted Echo.
“Echo, I’d like you to meet Cerra Kilian,” Rex said. “She handles logistics. Very good at getting things clones aren’t supposed to have.”
“Nice to meet you, Cerra,” Echo said.
The woman clasped Echo’s hand in a reserved greeting and nodded at Riyo. “A pleasure, Echo. Senator, it’s good to see you again.”
“And you as well, Cerra,” Riyo replied.
The contrast between the two women could not have been more stark. Riyo was lovely, with her wide, golden eyes, azure skin, and glossy lavender—no, lilac—hair. Everything about her was soft and feminine and fragile, almost ethereal. Cerra was taller and more solid, her face more angular, and everything about her spoke of practical decisions, from her buzzed head, to her faded mechanic’s coveralls and sturdy boots. More striking, though, was the difference in their expressions. While Riyo’s face was gentle and easy to read, Cerra’s guarded eyes revealed nothing of her thoughts.
“Got a lead on that electro capsule the clone assassin used,” Cerra said.
“What did you learn?” Rex asked.
“It isn’t underworld tech,” Cerra said. “At least, not as far as any of my contacts could tell. More likely military-grade.”
“Then it probably was Rampart’s work,” Rex said grimly.
“Hard to say,” Cerra said. “We know somebody was pulling Rampart’s strings. I’ll keep looking.”
“I hope I don’t sound selfish, but I can’t help wondering. Do you think I might still be in danger?” Riyo asked.
Cerra looked at Rex, wordlessly deferring to him.
“It’s difficult to say,” Rex said. “For now, it wouldn’t be a bad idea for your guards to take additional precautions.”
“I can take a look at their security protocols and offer a few suggestions, if you’d like,” Echo offered.
“Thank you,” Riyo said, gazing up at him with gratitude in her eyes. “I would imagine that someone as accomplished at infiltration as an ARC Trooper would be the best person to find weaknesses in security.”
“Former ARC Trooper,” Echo said, wondering what else Rex had told her about him.
“I don’t think anyone could forget ARC training,” Rex said with a quiet laugh.
Cerra’s eyes flickered to the front entrance of the repair shop, and Echo turned automatically, preparing for a threat. Instead, he recognized a familiar face.
“Didn’t realize we were having a party,” Gregor said as he strode into the room and clasped Echo’s forearm in greeting. “Good to have you with us, Echo.”
The commando nodded at Rex and Riyo, then draped his arm casually over Cerra’s shoulders and handed her a travel cup. The woman pushed him off with an indistinct grumble, but she took the cup with the barest hint of a smile.
“I got some intel on a clone in the 41st Elite Corps who wants to get out. Name’s Fireball, do you know him?” Gregor asked.
“I’ve met him,” Rex said. “Good man. Good soldier.”
“Is the 41st still on Kashyyyk?” Echo asked. “I was there recently. Rex, it could get ugly.”
“It’ll take some time to plan,” Rex said noncommittally.
“That’s not the only thing we’ll need to plan,” Gregor said. “If we’re going to be extracting clones, we’re going to need a way to get the inhibitor chips out of their heads. AZI took mine out on Ord Mantell, but we don’t have a medical droid of our own.”
“Karthon chop fields,” Cerra said. Riyo and the three clones all turned to her. “I’ve been looking into it. My source says there are at least three downed Venators slated for decommissioning on Karthon. We can pull the surgical pod from one of the med bays and set it up here.”
“It’s risky,” Rex said.
“Not as risky as Lotho Minor or Bracca, now that the Empire has stepped up security after your adventure there last year,” Cerra said. “I can get it, but I’ll need help. Gregor, you in?”
“I’d like Echo to go with you on this one,” Rex interjected.
Cerra didn’t react except to nod. “It’s going to take a few days to get the supplies together.”
Tumblr media
Over the next few days, Echo began to get a feel for the small group living in the repair shop. Rex was right: his organization was spread thin. Echo wasn’t exactly sure how many others were involved, but at the moment, the only people besides himself who were at the garage were Rex, Cerra, and Gregor. Any others were either deployed on missions or based elsewhere. The three of them were run ragged. Rex looked even more exhausted than he had during the war. Cerra was quiet and remote, keeping to herself and rarely instigating conversations. Gregor was the only one who still seemed to have a sense of humor.
In addition to running missions with Rex, Gregor was the self-appointed quartermaster and chef of the group. He was a surprisingly good cook, and when Echo complimented the food, the commando grinned.
“It’s nice to be the one in charge of the kitchen instead of just washing dishes,” he said.
“If I start cooking, does that mean I can skip dish duty?” Cerra asked.
“No thanks, I’ve tasted your cooking,” Gregor laughed, his eyes bright.
“Rude, but fair,” Cerra acknowledged.
It was the night before Echo was due to travel to Karthon with Cerra. The group sprawled around the holotable, chatting quietly as they ate Gregor’s spicy yobshrimp stew. Echo was jittery. He wasn’t nervous about the mission itself; he’d completed hundreds of missions. But they were always with his brothers or a Jedi. This was his first time with a civilian. Still, Rex obviously trusted Cerra enough to send her after the surgical pod, so Echo tried to quiet his nerves.
“I can take KP tonight,” Echo offered, looking for a distraction.
“You’re on,” Cerra said immediately.
“Sucker,” Gregor giggled.
The kitchen was a spectacular mess, and it took some time for Echo to finish cleaning up. By the time he did, he could hear music blasting from the training gym, and he went to investigate.
Gregor leaned against the wall, his arms crossed, as he watched Rex spar with Cerra. Her face was flushed with exertion, and beads of sweat speckled her forehead and dripped down her temples. Echo could tell that Rex was holding back, though Cerra had surprisingly good form. She clearly had training, but it wasn’t enough against an opponent who was taller, stronger, heavier, and had been trained literally from birth to be a killing machine. Gregor occasionally tossed out a dispassionate suggestion or command, focusing on techniques specifically for fighting a larger combatant.
“Pull guard, Cerra, just like we practiced,” the commando coached.
Cerra grabbed Rex’s forearm and took him to the ground, locking her legs around his waist. Echo immediately recognized the move; he’d practiced it often enough during ARC training. He hadn’t sparred with anyone in ages, and he wondered if his prosthetic legs were agile enough to do it. He suspected so; though they were not quite as dexterous as his legs had formerly been, they made up for it in durability and strength. A single kick would be strong enough to snap a limb or break a spine.
“That’s better, Cerra,” Rex praised.
“Next time, rotate your foot to the outside,” Gregor said, unimpressed. “Unless you want to break your own ankle or get your leg pinned.”
Cerra slapped Rex on the back of the head. “Stop taking it easy on me.”
He grinned down at her. “Sorry, kid. Gotta walk before you can run.”
“First of all, I’m twice your age, and secondly, a real opponent won’t pull their punches,” she said.
“That’s why you have a blaster,” Rex replied calmly. “Want to go again?”
She nodded, but Gregor intervened. “You need to rest up for tomorrow’s mission.”
Cerra released Rex immediately, and he stood to his feet, then extended a hand and pulled her up from the mat. She was breathing hard, and Gregor tossed her a towel to dry off. She spotted Echo and acknowledged him with a jerk of her chin.
“Maybe Echo can teach me some sweet ARC moves while we’re en route to Karthon,” she said.
“Didn’t Fives show you any?” Gregor asked.
Rex winced, but Cerra mopped her face and arms with the towel.
“A few,” she said.
“You knew Fives?” Echo asked, surprised.
“Yeah,” she said. “I’m going to hop in the shower.”
Tumblr media
“I can’t believe we’re taking that rust-bucket to Karthon,” Echo said.
The rickety shuttle was practically an antique. The sublight drive rattled alarmingly when it started up, and even the hydraulic struts for the ramp only worked about half the time.
“It’s old, but it still has some tricks thanks to Trace,” Rex said. “It’ll get you there and back. Besides, it’s the only ship we have with a cargo hold big enough to transport the surgical pod.”
“She’ll fly all right,” Cerra said as she joined them. “Not fast. Hopefully she won’t leak like a sieve.”
Rex was holding two travel mugs of caf, and he handed one to Cerra.
“You’re a god among men,” she said, taking a blissful sip.
“Is the other one for me?” Echo asked.
“Kark no,” Rex said, chugging half the liquid in one go. “Get your own.”
Cerra strode up the ramp and flopped into the co-pilot’s seat. “Don’t worry, Echo, we can stop at Starcups on the way out.”
Echo pulled a face. “Starcups barely qualifies as caf. More like syrup and blue milk that once heard a rumor about caf.”
“Still gets the job done,” Cerra shrugged. “Let’s roll.”
In the slow, dilapidated old shuttle, it was a full day’s jump to Karthon. Cerra was mostly silent once they entered hyperspace, tinkering with the electronic guts of a clone armor cuirass that she’d modified heavily. Echo, accustomed to Wrecker and Omega’s raucous banter and Tech’s spontaneous infodumps, found the silence deafening. He wished Gregor had come with them on the mission. The commando’s relaxed attitude and cheerful personality seemed to pull Cerra out of her shell in a way that Echo had not yet figured out how to do. He was no sparkling conversationalist, but he didn’t enjoy silence and solitude—not any more.
It had only been a few days, but he missed the Batch. He missed Tech’s monologues as they copiloted the Marauder on long hyperspace jumps. He missed Omega’s endless questions and cheerful commentary. He thought of the way the tears had welled in her eyes as she hugged him goodbye, and his chest ached at the memory.
The cuirass sparked, and Cerra flinched and cursed.
“Need a hand?” Echo offered.
Cerra sighed and dragged a hand across her eyes. “I think I fried one of the connectors when I heated the plastoid to reshape the chestplate. The control unit fits, but I can’t get it to sync with the HUD.”
She passed the cuirass to Echo, who inspected it closely. She was right; there was a tiny scorch mark on one of the connectors.
“We’ll have to salvage another chestplate to get replacements,” he said. “Decent chance we’ll find some on Karthon.”
“At least it’ll give me some protection for now,” she said. “I’ll just have to go without a helmet until I can get it fixed.”
“I can help with the modifications, if you’d like,” Echo offered. “I have some experience with armor mods.”
“So I see,” she said, eyeing his custom suit. “I figured your armor wasn’t exactly off the rack.”
Echo chuckled. “Not exactly. My squadmate Tech helped me with my first set of armor after Skako Minor, but this set I modified myself. I added some extra features. Aside from the obvious.” He gestured to his scomp.
“What kind of features?” she asked.
“Electrical surge prevention,” he said.
She nodded. “Kix told me you got a hell of a jolt at Anaxes.”
“You knew Kix as well as Fives?” he asked.
“Yeah,” she said. “He’s gone, too.”
Darkness flickered across her face, but she took a deep breath and her usual stoicism slid back into place. Echo reached out to lay his hand on her shoulder, but something about her posture made him think she wouldn’t appreciate the gesture. He faltered and dropped his hand back to his side. After a time, he broke the silence.
“So,” he said. “How well did you know Fives?”
“Pretty well,” she said flatly. “So how about those sweet ARC moves?”
He wanted to push, wanted to know more. Rex had given him the bare-bones account of Fives’s death, but there never seemed to be enough time to actually process it. Cerra was the only person in Echo’s life other than Rex who had known his twin, but her walls seemed to be made of durasteel, reinforced with beskar. And the last thing he wanted to do was scug her off right before he headed into a mission, trusting her to have his back.
“Rex went through ARC training, too, you know,” Echo pointed out. “He knows all those moves. But I can show you a trick or two that I learned from Clone Force 99.”

So I wanted to wait and let the new Bad Batch trailer sink in before posting about it.
Warnings: Spoilers, some thoughts/opinions will be critical
Alright so I don’t think it’s any secret that I don’t care for the Bad Batch. Even ignoring the horrible, incredibly RACIST clone model, the writing is mid/passable at best and not even watchable for me. Most of S1 and 2 combined is the typical ‘mission of the week’ type of story where only a few Empire-focused episodes stand out. There are also instances of ableism concerning Echo in particular (CF99 are also super dismissive of him in general—going along with that whole fucking ‘superiority over regs’ thing—seriously wtf).
Most episodes were very bland and predictable. S1 had no stakes despite its finale. By Mando/ST it’s clear that something has happened to Kamino. Didn’t really need to see a 2pt ep of the city getting wiped. Plus AZI should’ve been sacrificed. Even Ahsoka learns the lesson that you can’t save everyone in S1 when she disobeys Anakin and Admiral Yularen. TBB S2 had no character development from anyone besides a little bit for Omega (and Tech—but that was always speculated by fans since S1 and he’s dead now so it doesn’t really matter). A lot of the dialogue felt…basic. I think the only thing that TBB does well is the music. It’s really amazing and beautiful along with the smooth, crisp animation/scenery. Shame they ruined it with racist clone models, racist tones with the ‘reg’ dispute in both seasons, and being ableist and dismissive towards Echo.
Which brings me to the trailer. Oh boy. First, right off the bat I noticed how similar the trailer opening is compared to the S2 trailer. I do like that Phee is back. She did take time to grow on me but I do like her character and am curious to see where they will go with her.
It’s interesting we are seeing Crosshair back with the group so soon. Personally I do believe that is Crosshair and not just someone else wearing his armor like some think. I like the idea of Omega and Crosshair escaping early on but Omega gets recaptured/separated and taken back to Tantiss.
I’m interested in Hemlock and his backstory (is his gloved hand robotic?). I wish they’d create more interesting and unique characters like Phee and Fennec Shand instead of relying on cameos of established characters/fan-favorites like Ventress. I loved Dark Disciple and I thought it was a great ending for her.
I know it’s officially said that Ventress’ story will follow Dark Disciple but I don’t see how unless they retcon her death or pull a ‘somehow she survived’. Either way that sucks. Reminder!! DAVE FELONY DIDN’T EVEN FOLLOW REBELS FOR AHSOKA. SABINE IS NOT FORCE SENSITIVE IN REBELS. DAVE RETCONS THE SHIT OUT OF EVERYTHING. I have no faith that they will remain loyal to DD. Anything that will be ‘canon’ will be mid at best because even Crosshair’s arc has been messy (which is due to the weird S1 ‘reset’ the characters go through. Like they totally should’ve appreciated ‘regs’ by the end of TBB arc in TCW S7–there was no need for that awkward food fight scene in S1).
I hate that this show has to rely on cameos to get the viewing numbers. Here is a list of every character cameo we’ve seen so far:
—Rex*
—Tarkin*
—Palpatine*
—The Lawquane Family
—The Syndullas/Chopper
—Nala Se/Lama Su*
—Cad Bane
—Bail Organa
—Riyo Chuchi
—Gungi
—Gregor
—Wolffe
—Cody
—Scorch
—Saw Gerrera
—Martez Sisters
—Kanan/Depa*
—Muchi/Rancor from RotJ
—Taun We/Halle Burtoni
—Ventress
*I consider these important/relevant cameos and am not bothered by them like the others*
What a list right? I might even be missing one. These were just off the top of my head. Some are big players, others smaller and almost not-relevant to the plot. Not counting the one’s I asterisked, it’s 15 characters. There are original characters but a lot of them, especially in S1 felt like one off, not important characters. And I hate Cid so much—glad to see she was absent in the S3 trailer. I’m really starting to love Phee and I’ve always loved Fennec Shand, and Hemlock is definitely an intriguing villain and Emerie feels like a total mystery (though the reveal was not shocking due to the similar design and accent to Omega). Like why can’t they create more characters like these? The rest just feel forgettable. And it’s clear that characters like Saw, Gungi, Scorch, Cad Bane and even the Syndulla and Lawquane families just felt like fan service. The rest kind of make sense that they’d show up but it also feels a bit like fan service.
Moving on..
I know a lot of people think that new weird dark trooper at the 1:40 mark is Tech. While I’m inclined to agree as I think the ‘Winter Soldier’ story is an obvious choice to pick, I also think that Tech is dead. I’ve changed my mind and kind of hope that Tech isn’t brought back.
I hope this is someone new. I also wouldn’t mind if it was a bounty hunter we’ve seen before. Due to the frame and stature, I could almost think of Boba due to him being older than Omega but it’s definitely more likely to be Tech than either of these choices.
It’s interesting a lot of cameo characters from S2 do not make an appearance in the trailer. Bail, Riyo, Gungi, Gregor and Cody are all absent from the trailer. Trailers usually show action shots to avoid story spoilers, but with Gungi, Gregor, and Cody all being capable fighters, I’m surprised they didn’t appear (usually stuff with politics is a story spoiler).
Overall I’m skeptical of the trailer. I don’t like Ventress being alive/in TBB being a Dark Disciple lover. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding the story of S3 so I don’t feel like I can give an accurate take on that. I hate how Omega’s longer hair looks. Curly haired Omega is adorable!! The animation (everything but the clone model) is definitely getting better. However, based on how S2 was marketed as a ‘darker story compared to S1’ and was like 80% fetch quest I’m definitely skeptical.
Those of you that made it through this post, thank you for your time and I hope I gave you something to think about. If you wanna learn more about the racism and ableism portrayed in this show, check out @unwhitewashthebadbatch for more info.

p s fucking a : obiwan is not anakin’s dad, was never his dad, never acted like his dad, never tried to be his dad. mentor does not equal dad. teacher does not equal dad. trainer does not equal dad. jedi did not have nuclear family units. those earth-centric, human labels have only ever applied to situations which attempt to get non-jedi to understand their closeness (i.e. ahsoka calling anakin her “brother” in order to get the martez sisters to understand something that is otherwise indescribable and unexplainable to someone outside of the order. or, say, “you’re the closest thing i have to a father” when obiwan was in his most puffed, overcompensating i definitely don’t know what i’m doing phase while anakin was young, created by the force who was taken from his family at a late age, clinging to labels as he fumbles to detach and grow). think communal. think bonded by trauma. think the loss of both of their master, qui gon. think all-encompassing tie to each other through fate, training, insecurities and war. think george lucas quoted saying he created vader and obiwan to be the dark and light fathers of luke. think of obiwan being the backbone of the entire skywalker family.
your generic, crusty ass take is basic, tired and boring. not only that but it’s dated. proven not only by people who can analyze what media they consume, but also by the mf 2022 OWK show and numerous quotes from ms. chow (and countless other canon material which paint obiwan and anakin as soulmates, bound in life and death, a dyad.) this take is also extremely limiting to the overarching beautiful narrative and does a disservice to the characters and operatic nature of the saga. it also excludes the beliefs and practices of entire cultures that george lucas intentionally based the jedi around. *bangs gong repeatedly* wake up idiots not everything is literal

Sometimes when I think about the Ahsoka series, I think of how much I would have preferred if Sabine was the one who pulls Ahsoka out of her jaded and weary self. The more I think of Ahsoka and Sabine's respective stories, the more I think the show has missed the opportunity of bringing us a fleshed-out and strongly-connected relationship, because there is much these two have in common.
They both share a similar eagerness when they were younger, a desire to prove themselves (Ahsoka to show she's not too young to be a Padawan learner; Sabine wanting Hera to trust her with more details of the Rebellion), they were both survivors of genocide (Order 66, the Mandalorian purge), they both know what it's like to be named a traitor by their family (Ahsoka being accused of bombing the Jedi temple, Sabine being shunned by her clan after creating the Duchess), they both knew what it's like to walk away from home, as well as being a wanderer without much purpose (Ahsoka tagging along with the Martez sisters, Sabine being a bounty hunter with Ketsu), they both have a snarky sense of humor etc etc. The list can go on even longer if we look deeper into their stories in the animated shows.
So to bring these two characters together in the Ahsoka series and not touch on any of that is a pity, because I can imagine the interactions they could've had that would give us much more reason to invest in their relationship. (For example, finding solace and understanding in knowing that they are both relics of a past they could never return to, comparing notes about Jedi and Mandalorian values/training methods, how they reminded each other of previous dynamics with other people while working together, how Ahsoka is not affiliated with the Jedi anymore but still behaving like one is similar to Sabine's own confusion about whether she can still identifiy as a Mandalorian given her new role as Jedi apprentice etc etc.)
And as much as I enjoyed Sabine in the series, I couldn't help but think how it would be like if she was a character that acts as a reflection of Ahsoka's Rebels-era self: centered and reserved, but still forging ahead with a clear purpose. And that she was the one calling the shots during their journey, the one who reminded Ahsoka what it's like to believe in and fight for something again, and how much Sabine represented the youthful optimism she once had, making her realize how much she's hardened and changed, liberating her from the ghosts of her past and returning her to the Ahsoka Tano people once knew. It's difficult to come up with an arc for a character that has been developed for over 13 years already, but by bringing Sabine into play, the depth and dimension of the story as well as the possibilities it could bring are still yet to be fully utilized.
Anyway, these are some stray thoughts I've had from time to time, and it's been on my mind long enough that I feel like putting this out here. Comments and thoughts are more than welcome.

The Bad Batch Season 2 - Mid-Season Eps 7 & 8 Spoilers & Thoughts
Ranted it out on twitter last night and forgot to share here.
LOT of thoughts this time
Major Spoilers beneath cut!
Really trully phenomenal writing, so much more than I expected to be said so explicitly. Open discussion of clones' rights, their futures, their lack of personhood under both the Republic and the Empire, even the threat of decommissioning.
What we always knew, what we wanted explicitly addressed in mainstream canon, stated by the clones themselves. Truly ecstatic about these episodes.
Absolutely loved the confirmation that yes, this is what Rex has been doing all along. We saw it implied with Gregor in S1, but it's so good to see it clearly stated, and to see him in action. It makes me hope he got Cody out too.
It also made me crave a show dedicated entirely to this fight. I once again understand and am okay with the TBB centering solely around the Batch. But it's hard not to be anxious knowing what all the other clones are facing. Which makes me understand Echo even more.
Echo's decision. I knew it would come to a boiling point, trusted it would. I'd hoped that Echo would convince Hunter + co to care, but they have their own priorities. I love Echo more bc he decided he couldn't walk away.
He said that his place was with the Batch, and I like to think that he found some kind of home with them. But unlike the rest of them, he sees the rest of the clones as his brothers too. I hope this isn't the last we see of him, but I know he is loved and respected with Rex.
These episodes were a wealth of nostalgic locations, and seeing each one caused such a beautiful ache. I love all the lush new planets explored in the other episodes, but Coruscant felt like coming home.
The specific locations: 79s, the Senate building, Riyo's room that looks so much liked Padmé's, the Martez sisters' place, the clone memorial, the lower levels, even the star destroyer, the stunning of the troops specifically evoking S7's finale. Everything the same but different.
We didn't get to see all of these places with the new graphics, bc TCW S7 only had 4 arcs and TBB S1 covered a lot of newer locations. But gosh what a treat. It was all so beautiful, both aesthetically and metaphorically. Defs need to rewatch so many times to truly appreciate.
Rampart's fall surprised me, bc I did feel he's the lone Big Bad of the show so far, the true embodiment of anti-clone. He's done a lot of unforgivable things and having Palps lock him up isn't satisfying, even if it was surprising. I unfortunately doubt that's the last we've seen of him, though who knows. I admittedly don't care too much either way, but if he's gone, it'll be interesting to see who steps into the next "main antag" shoes, bc I doubt it's Palps himself.
IAN MCDIARMID.
TRULY THE KING.
(or should I say, Emperor)
RIYO.
I'm so glad to see her again
(also, apparently I've been saying her first name wrong all this time??? Am I the only one who's been saying Ree-yo when it apparently shoulda been Rai-yo?)
Rex had his tiddies uncovered the whole time and I was so concerned he'd get shot. i mean he's the only chara guaranteed to live, and I'm also glad he's got a better disguise, but dear please wear some protection
(but yeah ngl it's nice that we got to see him armorless with the beefier new model. I am still remembering TCW Saleucami and thinking my gosh this man is a STICK he is STARVED they ALL ARE. I am always for adding more beef to clones.)
Really curious where they're going with the chips brainwashing the clones. Both Rex and Wrecker appeared conscious of the whole time they were under, trying and unable to stop and remembering it afterwards.
Yet other clones seem to be gradually "waking up," even though many of them likely should have been equally horrified at the moment O66 went live. Rex and the Batch aren't exceptions being Good Guys, the vast majority of the clones are extremely loyal and honorable.
Makes me wonder if after an extended time under the chip's control, that feeling of wrongness/fighting against it fades, until it seems the new ordinary? But then the more time passes, the Order weakens, and they're able to feel more discrepancies, hence the desertions?
The clone assassin definitely seemed super "under" an Order, extremely Off and not himself, like what I'd imagine a freshly O66 clone to be like. Which makes me further curious that Rampart had him (and presumably more like him) under his control. We'll have to see!
But yeah, to conclude: Cody didn't die! (didn't show up!) Named clones I cared about too much in the few minutes we had them DID die and I am still sad but, it could have been worse.
Also huh, not even a glimpse of Crosshair? (feeling a wee bit bad for his fans, that out of the first 8 eps, he's only in one of them...hopefully the next one will be about him ^ ^; )

I have nothing to do this weekend so it is Catch Up On Rewatch time. We're up to Decomissioned!
I genuinely love that this episode begins a very long tradition of the batch making basically Zero goddamn money for Cid because they never accomplish the actual goal she sent them there for
I love the Grime of Ord Mantell so much
Tumblr media
Like this? It is a fucking look.
"What if it was shiny" WHAT IF IT WAS GROSS AND COVERED IN DIRT AND RUST AND HAD SOME GUY SLEEPING ON IT?
The woman wandering into Cid's looked drunk already but Omega nearly shooting her in the face sobered her up REAL goddamn quick.
Bolo and Ketch are my beloved boys, crime uncles to go with the crime grandma for Omega. I don't know what their crimes actually are but look at them. They're definitely up to crimes.
This is just a sweet moment though, even if Omega is getting frustrated, everyone gathered around to watch her practice. She's not a natural but SHE'S LEARNING.
Cid: I assume you boys know what a tactical droid is?
Tech:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is unsurprisingly one of my favorite moments he literally looks like he's going to explode when no one speaks up. IS NO ONE ELSE GOING TO TAKE THIS INCREDIBLY EASY QUESTION?
"You make money, I make money, and I watch your back." You fool. You will never get any money from these people.
CID WITH THE BOW IS HOT OKAY, I AM AN EASY MARK.
You know I'm surprised this facility doesn't sell the tactical droid modules themselves, like I'm sure it's imperial funded to get rid of all the separatist droids but come on, no one in the factory other than the Martez sisters is stealing these things?
BEING THE LOOKOUT WAS CROSSHAIR'S JOB. I'm sure Hunter loves getting that reminder of his Failure to keep his family together.
THE GIRLS ARE HERE <3
DON'T JUST STAND THERE. GRAB A WEAPON. "I had one >:T"
Omega was literally about to shoot Rafa at point blank range though like imagine her first kill was from about 2 feet away
SHOULD I HAVE LET THE DROID SHOOT YOU? Hunter has zero patience right now he is So Grouchy the instant Rafa opens her mouth
No worries just jump over the flaming pit of death Wrecker. Nothing bad can happen when you jump over the flaming pit of death.
LITERALLY STOLE THE DROID HEAD AND LEFT THE CHILD TRAPPED ON THE CONVEYOR BELT TO HELL.
God this moment with Wrecker's chip partially activating is so good.
Trace literally stops and realizes the child is going to be dumped into the slag and does NOTHING ABOUT IT FOR SO DAMN LONG. SHE COMES THROUGH IN THE END BUT GOD HOW LONG YOU GONNA STAND THERE?
I love them, they're disasters.
"Fine but I still don't like you." "I'M USED TO IT." This is very much like Hunter with Phee in season 2 he just gets so fucking cranky.
WRECKER HEARING "GOOD SOLDIERS FOLLOW ORDERS" IN CROSSHAIR'S VOICE IS SO FUCKING MUCH. Love this set up for next episode by which I mean I am horrified by it.
I'm easy, I find it hilarious when Echo makes a dad joke about their name.
THIS WILL HELP ME ACCESS THE PROGRAM. *TECH LITERALLY STABS THE DROID WITH SOME FORM OF SPIKE*
Honestly seeing Rafa again makes me remember those fake leaks when everyone was freaking the absolute fuck out over the idea that Rex/Rafa was going to be a thing in season 2 and honestly I still love the idea. I think that Rex falling for a garbage girl with thieving little raccoon hands is the funniest thing I've ever heard. He found a girlfriend in the dumpster.
Our first real push towards 'you can't just endlessly run away while doing it all for the money' from Trace. Again I am stuck on this, that you can't push for two seasons for the batch to actually stand up to the Empire and fight, to actually push back, and then have it turn out they should have just kept never getting involved anyway if they wanted to live. I'm chewing on the walls and the beams.
"in the end, we all choose sides" anyway this is why I think the very end of the show will be the batch together and actively choosing to go against the Empire, not because they're soldiers but because they're a family and they're fighting for each other. But unfortunately I don't think it will be as simple as retirement even if it's what they deserve, because of bits like this. At the very least, they're active in helping Rex get the other clones somewhere safe, even if they're not diving in to fight directly.
The way they hide who Rex is to make it look like the girls immediately turned on them doijsofd
SOON WE'RE GONNA HAVE REX THOUGH. THE BOY.

Oh no disney plus made a list of Ahsoka TanoEssential Episodes and it's Unhinged
"Rising Malevolence" and "Storm Over Ryloth" - actually this is a good take. Good early season ahsoka and anakinandahsoka content
"Padawan Lost" and "Wookiee Hunt" - I mean yeah you kinda have to list those right
and then it just... skips to the wrong jedi arc? Excuse me? This is the entirety of tcw s1-5 we're including here??
The Martez sisters arc wrong wrong wrong this is not essential it is not even very good why does disney want us to watch this
The Mandalore arc which again you kinda have to
All the Tales of the Jedi ahsoka eps which are good but also not essential. They are by definition EXTRA content. released a decade after the content they relate to.
the rebels s1 finale where she has, and this is true, two lines
The rebels s2 2-part premiere where she is also not super present. Could make an argument because of the vader content but that could also be replaced by the next ep they chose which is
rebels "shroud of darkness." yeah good take
Twilight of the apprentice because yeah duh
"wolves and a door" and "world between worlds"... ugh yeah I guess but can we cut it down to one
the mandalorian ep, which maybe could be essential based on what happens in the show buuuuuuuut I feel like it won't be
the book of boba fett ep which is just ridiculous. It is the ahsoka show preview inside the backdoor mandalorian ep inside what's supposed to be a boba fett ep. go home disney intern you're drunk
obvi they want to promote as many properties as possible but have you considered she's arguably the protagonist of one (1) of those properties

My Neighbor Doug on different locations in 'The Bad Batch'
So I did as was requested by my poll, and asked Doug what he called (and thought of) the various different places in which 'The Bad Batch' took place.
Need refreshers? Doug's interpretations of The Bad Batch: Main Characters
Doug's interpretations of The Bad Batch: Side Characters
Here we go:
--------------------------------------------------
Tipoca City: The Mall on the Ocean. You know it either smells really nice, clean and like fresh perfume, or it smells like ass and balls. It’s duty free, of course. Daddy Warcrimes totally plows the liquor section when Ryan-from-Accounting won’t stop annoying him and Daddy Rambo sprays on the sample Sauvage cologne to get the ladies.
("I thought he was married?"
"He need the reassurance. Y'all know guys like him.")
Tumblr media
Onderon: Damn-It-Jared’s Trailer Park. It’s where he and his goofy-assed hippie friends fire weapons and drop acid and scare the wildlife. It’s like Oregon, but stupid. Just like Damn-It-Jared. And Daddy Warcrimes comes down and murders civilians, because the man craves police brutality the way I crave a drink after watching the Saints lose.
Tumblr media
Saleucami: Tremor-Land. Look at this place and tell me you ain’t expecting giant worms and Kevin Bacon to pop out of nowhere. Also, Not-Wolverine’s wife gives me Reba McEntire vibes, trust me. They seem like a fun couple, I’d love to drink beer and shoot guns with them on a Sunday.
Tumblr media
(Cut and Suu = Not Wolverine and Not Wolverine's wife)
Pantora: Not-Quite-Austin. Its where young hot people go to get drunk, get into street fights and then leave. You know, where That Chick That’s in Everything gets into a motorcycle race with Daddy Rambo and then they look for the Gun Safety Muppet and Little Orphan Blondie is lost and I guess they sell Toaster Strudel at one point to the three eyed goat for cash?*
Meat Muffin, what in the hell did I just write?
Tumblr media
Corellia: Where-Anakin-Lost-His-Legs and Jorge’s Unemployed Sisters are collecting scrap metal for cash.
(“This is not where Anakin lost his legs!”
“How do you know?”
“ I watched Episode III?! Did you?”
“Eh, they’ll update it, just watch.”)
Tumblr media
(FYI, I wish Trace Martez and Tech had more scenes together. They would have been a cute nerdy couple)
Bracca: Planet Dump. Seriously, there’s a planet devoted to garbage. Is it New Jersey? It’s just creepy people floating around trash? Man, it’s like Thor Ragnorok, but sad. Think Valkyrie would show up at some point? Julio had a headache here and strangled someone, I get it, migraines ain’t fun.
Tumblr media
Ord Mantell: Great Value Cyberpunk. Do humans even live here? Well, Houma BBQ bitch and her ugly clutch of mutant boyfriends do. Her bar totally looks like someone practices eye surgery in the back like in Minority Report.
Tumblr media
Raxus: Space Country Club. Oh, this place nice and clean. I mean, dang, it looks like a gated community where everyone plays golf and is mean to their neighbors. I bet they have an amazing Christmas lights display but don’t allow ‘riff-raff’ to come in and bully anyone who doesn’t join their HOA. My sister’s in one outside of Miami, and it turned her into a bitch, trust me.
Tumblr media
Daro: Not-Quite-Fort-Bliss. I don’t get this place. It’s where Manny’s hanging out with other army guys but they don’t like him, even though he’s a good soldier? What the hell, the Empire is run by mid-level corporate dumbasses who think their online MBA makes them a god.
::proceeds to go on a rant about MBA Rob, his nephew, and the clowns like them::
Tumblr media
Safa Toma: Tank Girl’s Home. It’s like Tatooine but fun and crazy. It’s where the Rhino that Sells Used Buicks and his pet iguana live and force people to race in used car parts.**.
Tumblr media
Pabu: Space Daytona. It’s nice, it’s pretty, but I kept thinking the Empire was going to nuke it at some point. Hey, Church Lady says it’s her home away from home…where’s her other home? New Orleans? Shit, that’s a thought.
Tumblr media
Eriadu: Space New Hampshire. It’s foggy, got mountains, and filled with angry old white people who can’t seem to retire. You know Tarkin totally screams at waiters and lives to make the poor check out girls at Publix cry. Just like his bitchy daughter, Stepsister Beth.
(Doug now headcanons that Tarkin is Emerie’s dad…which makes zero sense, but whatever.)
Tumblr media
Ryloth: Space Arizona. Everything seems rich and nice and the women are vaguely hot, cool canyons and mountains and whatnot. But then dig a little bit and everyone’s rat-in-a-shithouse insane and there’s guns everywhere. I like Hera and her daddy, he’s cool. Like him riding his space motorcycle and flinging that spear at folks, more of him please.
Tumblr media
Weyland: Spooky Lab Land. It’s where Stepsister Beth and Ryan-from-Accounting have family reunions with her asshole dad, his bitch wife Laura, and the gang. They’re into science and not making eye contact with anyone because there’s shit in the lava lamps that might be humans.
Tumblr media
Serrano: Space Coeur d’Alene. It’s got pine trees and mountains, real pretty, but it’s easy to fling trash and bodies everywhere and every other person is Doomsday prepping. You ever been to Idaho? Real pretty, but real off, ya know?
Tumblr media
*= I was struggling to breath after this. What in 'The Witch' was he thinking?!
**= Millegi and his racer. I had to stop texting Doug for a bit at this point, I was cry-laughing so hard I couldn’t see.

A Glimpse of Us Part 3C
Summary: What if you didn't have to choose between Hunter and Rex?
Pairing: Rex x Reader x Hunter
WC: 2.6K
Warnings: 18+ MINORS DNI; SMUT, Threesome, p in v, oral (both receiving)
A/N: LAST PART, let's go. Sorry it took me so damn long.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3A Part 3B Part 3C
Tumblr media
Rex, Hunter, Echo, and Wrecker wait around while they wait for Tech to wake up from the inhibitor chip removal. They’d all successfully gotten their inhibitor chips out so Tech was the last one up. Rex and Hunter are topside, getting some much needed air while Echo and Wrecker wait with Tech. They clearly had things to talk about. Things that the other guys didn’t need to hear, necessarily.
“So you two are…” Rex sighs.
Rex didn’t expect you to wait around forever. If Hunter could be there for you, then that’s good. He hated that he caused you any pain in the first place. It’s been the biggest downside to faking his death. The moment that he and Ahsoka were safe, he wanted to run to you, to make sure you were alright. He knew he needed to help as many of his brothers as he could first, though. Not to mention, he didn’t know how to find you, so when you were described by the Martez sisters, he tried to get to Ord Mantell as fast as he could.
“Yeah, we kind of just happened a couple weeks ago.” Hunter tells him, honestly.
“Well, I hope you make her happy.” Rex tells him, placing a hand on his shoulder.
“She still loves you, Rex.” Hunter tells him. “She doesn’t know she does it, but she mumbles your name in her sleep most nights.”
“Oh.” Rex tries to hide the fact that his heart soars.
It’s quiet for a moment.
“Do you love her?” Rex asks him.
“More than anything. She’s been a real light in these dark times.” Hunter answers, looking out at the sea of old rusty ships. “To the whole team. Not just me. She and Omega have this amazing bond. She and Echo talk about their days with the 501st and it really brings a smile to Echo’s face. Tech just started teaching her how to fly. And Wrecker just taught her how to defuse a bomb.”
Talking about you makes him really miss you. He can’t imagine how Rex feels right now, being away from you for so long. He knows if he had to be away from you as long as Rex has been away from you, he’d be miserable.
“Look, Rex. I really like you. That’s why I’m going to tell you if you want me to back off, I will… but I think she should decide.” Hunter tells him.
“As long as she’s happy, that’s all that matters to me.” Rex smiles, sadly at the thought of you rejecting him, but happy that you found a family within the Batch.
It was a possibility that you no longer wanted the life you once imagined together. He still wants to marry you, to have a family with you, and to give you the life you deserve. Sure, it’d be a little trickier now with the empire in almost every crevice of the galaxy, but he knows some places the Empire has no idea about and never will.
You and Omega are playing Dejarik while you wait for the guys to arrive. They’re supposed to be back today. It’s been almost four days since they’d gone to get their inhibitor chips out with Rex on Bracca.
Omega’s head suddenly perks up and she spins away from the table to look toward the stairs.
“What is it?” You ask her, following the gaze.
“They’re back.” She tells you, still watching.
You didn’t even hear anything.
“How do-” You start to ask but you’re cut off by Wrecker barging down the stairs, swooping Omega up in his arms in a greeting.
It’s almost scary how little Omega is wrong. You greet all of them, not seeing Rex and Hunter until they walk down the steps next, talking and smiling. Odd, but alright, you think to yourself.
“Mesh’la.” Hunter pulls you into his arms, kissing you on the head.
“Hey. I’m so glad you guys are all okay.” You tell them, pulling up Hunter’s bandana, inspecting his patch covering the incision.
“No problems at all.” Hunter smiles.
“I wouldn’t say that.” Tech holds his finger up, matter-of-factly.
“Crosshair showed up.” Echo explains.
You look at Hunter, wide-eyed.
“Along with a bounty hunter looking for the kid.” Wrecker chimes in.
“A bounty hunter?” Omega asks, confused.
“Don’t worry about it. We took care of it all.” Hunter holds your face gently.
You look over at Rex for confirmation, which he knows, because of course he does, and he nods at you that everything is alright. Hunter notices and lets go of your face.
“Hunter-” You start but he gives you a reassuring smile that he’s not upset.
You let out a sigh of relief. You’re not sure how to navigate these feelings about the love of your life and your current partner who you’ve really come to care for and can’t imagine being without. Is that love? Can you love two people? Is that possible? You’ve had four days to argue with yourself. You should know right now. But the real answer is that you want both. Is that selfish? Probably.
Later that night, you’re in your room above Cid’s when there’s a knock on the door. You get up off your bed to go answer it, expecting Hunter to come tell you goodnight, or Rex coming to talk to you.
You answer the door and are met with both Hunter and Rex. You should have been expecting it, honestly.
“Hunter. Rex.” You smile softly, gesturing for them to come in. You let the door slide shut behind them.
They stand in the middle of the room and you look at them, nerves starting to make themselves known.
“It’s alright, mesh’la.” Hunter senses your nervousness immediately and acts like he wants to reach out but thinks twice, maybe out of respect for Rex.
“It is?” You ask.
“Of course.” Rex smiles, softly.
You missed that smile more than anything in the galaxy.
“We want you to know that whoever you pick, we won’t be upset. If that’s what you’re worried about.” Hunter smiles, sympathetically.
“That’s the thing.” You shake your head as you cross your arms while a lump starts forming in your throat. “I can’t pick…”
“You don’t have to.” Rex speaks up.
Hunter looks at him, curiously.
“Do you… want both of us?” Rex asks you.
You nod. “I know it’s selfish, though.”
“It’s not.” Hunter looks at you, coming to take your hand. “We both love you, we just want you to be happy, cyare.”
He kisses your hand and you let out a breath you didn’t even realize you’d been holding in.
“You love me?” You ask him.
He’d never said it before.
He smiles. “I do.”
You smile softly, looking up at him, cupping his face with your hand that he’s not holding. He kisses your forehead and you look over at Rex.
“Go on.” Hunter murmurs.
You kiss him on the cheek and walk to Rex. Rex pulls you into his arms, crushing his lips to yours. He kisses you like it’s been killing him to not be able to do this sooner. Every memory you have with this man starts coming back and you’re instantly overwhelmed with love for this man. You don’t even realize you have tears slipping until he’s swiping them away with his thumbs and you’re looking up at him, blurry-eyed.
“Sorry.” You chuckle, awkwardly, trying to dry your eyes.
“Don’t be.” He murmurs, kissing you on the head as you look over at Hunter.
“I can have both of you?” You ask them, softly. “You’re sure?”
“As long as you’re happy, we’re happy.” Rex answers.
You smile up at him and then hold your hand out for Hunter. He crosses the few steps between you and kisses you again. You start to realize how obvious it is that this man is in love with you. From the way that he kisses you, to the way he just looks at you and touches you. He’s looked at you like that since the day that he’s met you and your heart speeds up at the thought. “I know, mesh’la. Me too.” Hunter murmurs against your lips, understanding you like always.
That’s one of the things you love about him. He reads you and he just understands.
As you turn to Rex to kiss him again, you feel Hunter’s lips on your shoulder and his hands on your waist.
You sigh against Rex’s lips and he starts to smile into the kiss. Trailing your hand down his chest to his length which is already starting to struggle against his pants, you start to get even more worked up. He moves your hands away for a moment, breaking the kiss.
“You’re sure?” He checks.
You smile at him and then Hunter. “I’m sure. It’s been way too long.”
Hunter and Rex glance at each other and nod. Rex returns his lips to yours as Hunter starts to take your shirt off and drop it. Rex unbuttons your pants and you let them fall to the floor, kicking them off. Both men’s hands and lips are all over you immediately. Hunter unsnaps your bra off and Rex pulls away to look at you.
“I’ve missed you so much.” Rex whispers.
“I’ve missed you- ah.” You’re cut off as he takes your nipple in his mouth, between his teeth.
Hunter slips his hand down your panties, cupping your warmth, sliding his hand back and forth, teasing you as he sucks a mark into your shoulder, making you whimper.
Rex groans at the sound you make and squeezes your other breast. You tilt your head back against Hunter’s chest and his other hand squeezes your breast just under where Rex’s mouth is sucking.
“Should we move her to the bed, Captain?” Hunter smirks.
“I think we should, Sergeant.” Rex smirks back.
Both of the men quickly undress before going any further. You can’t help but look at them with intense desire you’ve never experienced.
Hunter pulls you to the bed, starting to kneel down in front of you, and Rex lays next to you, kissing you again. You get lost in the way that their lips start to explore you in different ways. Rex’s lips are so sure against yours, so confident. Hunter’s lips are sensual and sweet. You’ve made the right call by choosing both of them.
“I really missed you.” You whisper against Rex’s lips.
“I really missed you too, cyare. Don’t worry. We’ve got you.” He assures you.
Hunter’s mouth is on your pussy before you can say anything else and you can’t help but gasp against Rex’s lips. Hunter’s always so giving in the way that he eats you out. It’s addicting how good his tongue feels in you.
“Does that feel good?” Rex hums.
You nod and look down at Hunter, running your fingers through his longer hair. It’s different from Rex’s buzzed blond hair. In a good way, of course.
Hunter’s tongue flicks over your clit so perfectly, you let out a moan and Rex catches it with his lips again, smirking. You know right then that you’re in for a long night and you can’t wait.
“Hey Cap, feel how soaked she is.” Hunter smirks up at you.
Rex runs his hand down your body until he reaches your dripping cunt, and you both groan when he gently pushes his fingers into you to feel how soaked you are for them.
“Maker, I’ve missed this pussy.” He rests his forehead against yours.
“I’ve missed your fingers.” You chuckle, breathlessly.
“Why don’t you take over, Rex.” Hunter offers.
“Is that alright with you?” Rex asks you.
“Please.” You smile.
Hunter and Rex switch places quickly, Rex pulling you to the edge of the bed a little more so he can settle between your legs, running his hands up and down your thighs. Hunter kisses you softly. You smile at him when he pulls away, letting him know you’re beyond happy right now.
“I want to devour this pussy later but right now, I just need to be inside you. Is that okay?” Rex asks you.
You spread your legs wider for him as an answer.
“That’s my girl.” He praises you as he starts to slip his length inside of you.
You let out a whimper as he starts to fill you perfectly. It’s been way too long. You wrap your legs around his waist and pull him closer so that he falls into you. You both laugh softly. You take Hunter’s hand and snake it down to your clit and then take his length with your hand. He lets out a soft sigh at the feel of your hand around him as he starts to rub your clit with his finger, gently. Rex starts to thrust perfectly into you and you start to feel your orgasm approaching way too quickly.
“So fucking pretty.” Hunter kisses you.
“The prettiest.” Rex agrees.
As they start to praise you more, your orgasm hits you like a train and you cum for both of them, moaning both of their names.
“Good girl.” Hunter whispers.
“Turn over, cyare. Hunter, go sit against the wall.” Rex commands them.
You do as you’re told as Rex pulls out of you so you can turn over on your front and settle in between Hunter’s legs, his cock standing straight at attention.
“Do you want it?” Hunter asks you, watching you practically drool over him.
You nod, desperately. “Yes, sarg.”
Hunter looks up at Rex, perhaps for permission and when he gets it, he guides your head over his length so you can start to take him in your mouth. You’ll never get over how good Hunter tastes. How he fills your mouth and throat perfectly.
Rex pushes into you with a little more force just as you get to the base of Hunter’s cock. You moan loudly around him, instantly sending vibrations throughout his body. Knowing he feels it much more deeply than others do, you look up at him and his eyes are screwed shut and his fists are clenched at his sides. You tap his leg to make sure he’s okay. He nods as he opens his eyes, breathing deeply.
“That feels… too good.” He chuckles. “Keep going. Make her do it again, Rex.”
You start to bob your head up and down on his cock and Rex pushes into you again, roughly and you moan around Hunter again. Hunter’s hand finds your hair and starts to bob you up and down quicker, making you gag and choke on him. Hunter lets out deep moans that you’ve never heard before. This was new to both of you.
As Rex picks up his pace, slamming into your dripping pussy, you’re met with another orgasm, unable to hold it back. Moan so perfectly around Hunter’s cock, he starts to cum down your throat without warning. Normally, he’d apologize but he’s so lost in his pleasure that you can’t help but swallow every last drop he gives you.
He looks godlike above you with a sharp grip in your hair. You know you definitely want to do this again. Thinking about it makes you clench tightly around Rex.
“Oh fu-” Rex starts to let out a string of curses as he starts to fill your pussy up with his cum, gripping your ass so tightly you know you’re bound to be bruised shortly. You can feel both of your messes dripping down your thighs and onto the bed.
“We are definitely not done with you.” Rex warns you, kissing your back before you sit up to rest in Hunter’s arms.
“That better be a promise.” You smirk as Rex leans in to kiss you, long and hard.
As you reach up to kiss Hunter’s jaw, he meets you with his lips instead. You can’t help but smile as you think about the future that you get with the batch and Rex. How could life be this good? There must be a catch, right? Whatever it is, you know it’s worth it.

Thoughts on Episode 5, Phee, and Shipping:
I love Phee, so first of all, jot that down.
That being said, I didn't really like this episode. Part of that is me being biased, because I wrote one (1) Tech/Phee fic and got myself attached, and their interactions in the first five minutes were promising enough to disappoint later, but a greater part is... where's the beginning, middle, and end? What's the point of the story? What plot has been pushed forward or what character has developed?
You could define the beginning, middle, and end by their location - ord mantell, inside the mech, inside the mech bridge - but that's not the plot. If the purpose was just finding the Heart of the Mountain, why did they have to leave it? Because stealing is bad? We got to see more Phee and I'm grateful for that, but the only thing that's really changed about the characters is Hunter's gone from not liking Phee to tolerating her. Are we going to find out why next episode?
My worry, biased and all, is that they're going to shoehorn in a Hunter/Phee romance where it doesn't make sense. If Hunter and Phee get more time together and a relationship that develops in a way that makes sense for the characters and the story, great! I will continue shipping Hunter/Echo and Tech/Phee and canon can suck my dick as always, but I won't be upset at the show. If there's no romance at all and it was all just rumors, I'm cool with that. If it's something that winds up crammed down our throats no matter the actual dynamic because "main character" and "pretty human he's not related to", I'm gonna be pissed.
I was also saying in response to last week's episode that I was really hoping for more character-focused episodes. This was not it. The main characters were very obviously Phee and Omega, with Omega in the role of the Wide-Eyed Wunderkind and Phee as the World-Wise Wench. We don't actually learn anything about Phee - her hopes, dreams, goals, character. The whole episode focused on her being intuitive and a treasure hunter and a storyteller - and at no point was any of that expanded or built upon from the exact impressions we got in her very first scene. It was more an advertisement of her skills than anything else. Nothing about Omega's character was changed, she was simply a crutch for the Phee advertisement instead of a sexy lamp (in the trope way, y'all, don't be gross) like the rest of the batch. In some ways, it felt like she got negative character development - like she was suddenly early Season 1 Omega again.
Maybe the point was to paralell Supply Run. Omega is safe with Phee like she isn't with Fennec - the last adult human woman to play a major role in the batch's lives other than the Martez sisters who were already proven allies to the audience (and if I shipped Hunter with any adult human woman it would be Rafa, but that's neither here nor there). But there were better ways to have shown that. Maybe the point was to set the batch up for more treasure hunting adventures in the rest of the season. Maybe that's important enough to need context later on. But there were better ways to have done that.
I'm also worried that if this episode is completely filler and irrelevant to the rest of the season, that's going to reflect on how fans treat Phee, which is going to impact whether or not we see her again. I'd really like to see her again - in this show or in others - but that's not going to happen if the writers and showrunners make all her screen time extraneous to the plot.
TL;DR: We have no plot, no point, no character development, just a handful of things that might be relevant later on and already concerning treatment of a promising Black female character by the production team. And I, personally, have a gut feeling we're going to get a poorly written romance that may very well actually doom the show if people react to it like they have to this episode.
But there's always next week, and I will choose to have hope things improve until they noticeably don't. 🤞

I have a theory about Miramar, the name that Omega might have use while ahe Is in disguised, that It the full name of Mira Bridger, the mother of Ezra and i Hope that Tala Durith might be her Older sister because they are look alike, same nose, same color of skin excepted the color of their eyes, because Mira had Purple eyes and Tala had Brown eyes, and i have theory about Haja Estree that he might be Ephraim Bridger's friend. After the Battle of Endor, Haja came with Ryder Azadi, Jai, Mrs Sumar, Zare and Dhara Leonis came on Naboo to convince Ezra to return on Lothal that the boy refuse because he want to meets Lux Bonteri, Petro, Katooni, Ganodi, Byph, Gungi, Zatt, Vaash Ti, Rako, Bobby, Bene, Riyo Chuchi, Korkie Kryze, Lagos, Amis, Soniee and Mas Amedda before he return on Lothal that the people celebrate his return and acclaimed him like a Hero.
Omega too might had meets Rae Sloane, that the Imperial woman that Kanan Jarrus and Hera Syndulla meet her in New Dawn, or even Dosmit Raeh that Omega will name her daughter Rey, but a differents letter(I don't know that Basic would sound similar respect our earth language) After the Battle of Endor and One year before Ben Solo Born After the Battle of Jakku
I Hope that Omega was a friend for Ezra, After the Liberation of Lothal, because Ezra was a baby in Bad Batch and he didn't Remember her until 19 years later. I would like to see them in the heir of the Empire where Omega tried to convince Ezra to not worry about Ben before She will meets Dathan Palpatine.
Disney made a right choice to show us Ezra, Ben and Rey from 2014 to 2019.
I was fool because i was mistaken that Rey might be Ezra's child with Sabine Wren but i Remember that It was started when Obi-Wan meets Satine Kryze and before they will meets Ursa Wren before the events of Phantom Menace and It was started also where Obi-Wan Chase Jango Fett After he gets Clones, including Omega, Rex, Cody, Hunter, Crosshair, Tech, Echo, Wolff and Wrecker on Kamino that It was the idea of Palpatine and Dooku until Mace Windu kills Jango on Geonosis and before Sabine Born during the Clone Wars and before Ezra Born on Empire Day and i realize that Clone Force 99 was the true responsable to made the origin of Ghost Crew starring with Kanan and Hera before they were hidden on Naboo, where Padme Amidala and Palpatine were Born. I was fool to not learned about those characters even Rebels and Force Awakens were connected. And because It bring all until Exegol, the new Kamino After Tarkin destroy Kamino in the end of Bad Batch season One.
Clone Wars season three predicted all because Anakin will Hide Ezra and Ahsoka on Naboo with clone force 99 and Martez Sisters, that Obi-Wan told at Anakin to save Ahsoka while they were on Mortis and even the Father see a vision, then Echo gets kidnapped by Separatists, and the he gets rescue by Bad Batch, After Anakin and Ahsoka meets Tarkin(that Anakin sees a vision from Mortis were Tarkin will Blow up Alderaan After we saw Padme use the speed bike during her Chase against the Bounty Hunters on Coruscant, that Luke and Leia will use the speed biker on Return of Jedi) and then Anakin and Ahsoka meets Chewbacca in the end of Clone Wars season three, that they will meets again on Empire strikes back. We also see Padme and Ahsoka that they help Satine to defense Mandalore, if Sabine might have Born between clone Wars season two or three, and even we see the future of Ahsoka and Lux Bonteri when Padme sees again Mina the mother of Lux.
Rebels season three too predicted all because we see Ezra meets Obi-Wan and he almost find out that Anakin Is the Chosen One from the Last Word of Darth Maul and then Bendu reveals at the audience that Thrawn will be killed by Ben in the Mandalorian after Ezra and Sabine saves the Rebellion with the help of the Mandalorians people, After they learn that Maul Is dead and even Thrawn was anger for It, and you realize that Ezra and Sabine will take care of Ben. I Wish that Tech and Qi'ra should have here in this season because Sabine mentioned them but without to Say their names while She fight against Arihnda Pryce meeting Wedge Antilles, that they will team up with Lando to destroy Death Star II.

Something that drives me absolutely batshit when it comes to fanfics including anything about the New Mandalorians is that almost every single one of them seem to think the New Mandalorians are either a new sect or that Satine Kryze is somehow directly responsible for them/their creation. Because, unless one of the other media types says otherwise and I just am unaware, the New Mandalorians have been in power on Mandalore for over 700 years by the time of the clone wars. In fact, they came into being as a direct consequence of the Dral'Han/Annihilation/Excision, followed by Republic occupation of Mandalore. They turned to peace as a way to regain some level of independence and power within their own system. As far as I can tell, it was the Republic that forcibly demilitarized them and exiled those who weren't willing to give up their warrior ways. The New Mandalorians reluctantly gave up some aspects of warrior ways because they wanted the Republic to get out of their hair. You cannot tell me that they gave up the entirety of their cultural practices, though, when the few bits of Mandalore we see in the Clone Wars shows obvious signs of warfare through their art (specifically the carving of Mandalorians fighting the Jedi) and the fact that Satine could easily identify a specific dialect of Mando'a.
Now, if someone wanted to be pissed off that all the New Mandalorians we see happen to be white with blonde hair and blue eyes, then I would agree that it's super sketchy considering their past. However, I would like to point a few things out. First, the Mandalorians didn't exile their own people, the Republic, who is known to be prejudiced already, did that. Second, this is a show that had one of the few women who wore a hear covering bomb a temple. It also has two dark haired, dark skinned, poor sisters with a last name of Martez becoming spice runners for a gang. I think it's safe to say the show isn't great about prejudice. I think it would 100% be on-brand for the show to have the strictly-peaceful people with a violent and bloody past be seen and blond and white. But even beyond this, we hdont see a whole lot of diversity in the Mandalorian people, both New and Deathwatch, in the Clone Wars either.
I just really drives me crazy that so many writers dumb all of the complicated and rich history and politics of the Mandalorian people to Deathwatch and New Mandalorians=bad, and True Mandalorians=good. I mean, it's as if people think that fighting and armor and weapons are all of what makes up Mandalorian culture. I mean, it completely ignores that Beskar is expensive shit, let alone all of the weapons. I would be willing to bet that, at Mandalore's height, only the rich were able to truly afford beskar beyond like a small piece because it is/was so expensive. It ignores the language, food, art, music, and especially whether the people thrived. Whether you love or hate Satine, she was able to make Mandalore thrive while she was in power, regardless of all the shit she had to deal with.
