Episode 5, Season 1 | X-men 97 spoilers/theory below cut

Disclaimer: I have many thoughts on what's going to happen forward this is basically a word vomit.

So a summarized version of my theory is: obviously time travel will happen. They didn't keep the original opening for nostalgia only. That's why The Brotherhood + Magneto keep going against the X-Men in the opening, even if they're on the same side since the beginning of the season.

That's why Xavier and Bishop keep showing up in the opening too? I don't know if they'll bring Xavier back but eh ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

Plus, Cable came back trying to prevent the massacre from happening, failed at it, and now Madelyn is confirmed to be dead. I don't think Cable will just let his mother stay dead.

So yeah. Madelyn, Gambit, Callisto, etc are dead. For now. Plus you know how it happens. Nobody stays dead in that damned universe, especially if you're a popular character

This might cheapen the blow episode 5 was, yes. But I don't think it will if they play their cards (heh) right

NOW! It still would be interesting as hell for them to be permanently dead.

Especially since Bishop comments that Gambit is not remembered in the future. I'm not totally convinced Magneto is dead even after the "omega-leve threat eliminated". I didn't see a corpse 🤨

I also, somehow, think the Genosha genocide will stick as a whole to force mutants as whole to fight against humanity. Maybe this can even radicalize Scott

So maybe Gambit, as the popular character he is who is destined to marry Rogue, will return as a horseman for Apocalypse. Callisto and others will stay dead because they're not nearly important. Madelyne is fridged so Scott stays with Jean.

Oh we can even have that plot line where Sinister convinced Rogue to help him out with waking up Apocalypse, yeah? Nice too. Rogue, blinded by grief, going anti-hero for a sec.

Or maybe Sinister himself will bring Gambit back simply because he wants his otp to stay together, just like he did with Madelyne and Scott lmao

Favourite thing about him:

ROBOT ROBOR WEEEE- also he’s an angry horny gremlin that is consistently funny, I absolutely love comedic characters

Least favourite thing about him:

There is not enough Axis in the actual game, once you leave SteamWorks he is gone from the story similar to Dalv, only being relevant in story outside of the game which is pre-undertale yellow. He doesn’t get to contribute as much and you can only get extra stuff if you backtrack which many players will probably not do. I wish he got to interact with other main characters and contribute to the plot.

Well it’s basically canon that he absolutely loves daisy (canon name for the spouse we made I think), I saw a friend ship him with Trashy and I think that’s funny and awesome. I personally ship him with guardener because they’re both robots in the same area, who are super lonely and probably dealing with depression in different ways, they deserve each other. I love ship dynamics like that (tall calm and angry small gremlin)

Axis has a memory backup thing where he has the memories of all previous models, he remembers every time he malfunctioned and probably knows he lost Chujin his job, he feels really bad about that and doesn’t understand why Chujin still treats him so well, which is why he really looks up to him.

Unpopular opinion:

as funny as the spouse moment is I feel kinda bad that we basically let him live in blissful ignorance with a pile of trash, it just feels sad and pathetic, he was that lonely and instead of offering him companionship we just threw him a bone and ran away. He deserves an actual spouse at the very least (like bro guardener was right there arrange a date with her or something)

5 reasons I love Negaishipping

1. Iris and Ash’s dynamic

The main reason I like Negaishipping is that Ash and Iris are both playful, spirited and fiery, and you don’t have to change either of their characters to envision them together. They share a similar goal (Pokemon Master and Dragon master - respectively), they’re skilled battlers, both adore Pokemon, and they share a love for travelling and exploring. Whenever Cilan is busy (with cooking, for example), Ash and Iris are seen swinging on vines, playing around or battling.

One could argue Iris is harsh towards Ash, like calling him a kid. I’d like to clarify that her “kid” comment comes from Iris’ insecurity - as shown later in the BW anime. Iris had a bad experience when she went to school - unable to make friends. So when she met Ash, she was afraid to express herself fully. It’s only with Ash and Cilan’s friendship she was able to open herself up and bloom.

Now does trauma excuse picking on others? No! Which is why the narrative never paints Iris as being right in calling Ash a kid. Usually she is seen being just as excited as Ash is - or Ash/ Cilan calls her out on her childishness.

2. How supportive they are of each other

Ash knows he won’t  need a backup plan because he knows and trusts in Iris’ abilities to calm down Dragonite.

This has happened another time too - in BW episode 27. Ash is the only one to trust in Iris’ ability to read Dragon Type’s hearts, even when Cilan and the others brushed her off.

Cilan being the reasonable sommelier while Ash is biased af. We love to see it

Iris has proved plenty of times that she can take care of herself - and even jumps after Ash when he is in danger. That still doesn’t stop Ash from throwing a protecting arm over her (❁´◡`❁)

Iris happily staying awake to help Ash take care of Scraggy (Axew is helping out, too!)

Helping out by playing with the Pokemon so Ash can help Oshawott train!

Roxie’s fanbase works hard, but Iris works harder

Cheering alone isn’t working, so Iris dresses up and puts on make-up - and drags Cilan along, too! All to ensure that Ash wins the battle!

3. Their cute date in Nimbasa City

I love everything about this episode

Ash rejected an opportunity to battle the subway masters just to go have fun with Iris

They watched a football game

Had a tennis match

Watched a musical

And had ice cream

They were about to head to to the ferris wheel as well, but had to help out a lost Axew. All in all, it’s nice to see them goof off and just have fun together.

4. Their reunion

I love everything about this episode. From how Pikachu was super excited to meet Iris from the get go - and even noticed her scent on the letter she sent to Ash!

Ash hurrying to Unova to meet up with Iris. While Goh ran to catch pokemon, Ash went straight ahead to Opelucid gym

Ash yelling Iris’ name excitedly while running ahead

Pikachu excitedly greeting her by jumping and nuzzling her cheek.

Iris happily announcing she’s champion now - and getting even more happy that surprise worked perfectly. Ash even blushes ddkjhgdjgdfg

Getting lost in each other multiple times- and Drayden and Goh has to snap them out of it respectively 

Helping Dragonite enjoy battling - even if that means giving Ash an advantage.

5. Their Pokemon

Another bonus of Negai is that their pokemon are dynamic and share different kind of bonds together. I’d say Best Wishes’ strong suit is giving the characters engaging and lively personalities - and Ash and Iris’ pokemon are no different

Since I watch Pokemon mainy for the Pokemon, it’s nice that my OTP has pokemon that also mesh well together (even if they are rivals).

Nice to see that Iris consider Ash close enough to call their pokemon “brothers”

Emolga and Snivy have a rivalry going on

Same do Iris’ Dragonite and Ash’s Charizard

Ash’s Dragonite approves of Iris’ (I looove the detail of the antennas shaping a heart) Brock said a pokemon often reflect the trainer’s true feelings, so does this mean ... ? jkjk!!! XD But we can conclude that Ash and Iris, no matter if you ship them romantically or platonically, share a wonderful bond.

Are the forums really completely kaput? It’s absolutely bizarre to me that no large-scale backup or archive was made, in the decade(?) the website existed.

(For context: I got a question from @krixwell​ about the blog’s spoiler policy a week or so before the pause, voicing some worries about potential spoilers in asks. We’ll see! I really enjoy the discussions brought up by asks, and I’ve had a lot of fun with Titles that I wouldn’t have had otherwise. I’ve been fine so far, but I agree that if I do get burned, I’ll reconsider.

Gotta give the Homestuck Forums props for picking these troll names - there’s so much going on with each of them. 

She is constantly Spaced out. Mind you, half of all Sburb Players have their heads in the clouds!

This relates to my theory that Vriska can only make people do things they already wanted, on some level, to do. 

Hence, Karkat must have wanted to keep talking to her. Honestly, the idea that he still wanted to insult her is a pretty safe bet, and I think that’d definitely be enough for Vriska to work with, if this is indeed how her power operates.

Oh, that is a challenge and a half. The trolls all look really cool, with appearances that reflect their personalities really well.

However, this is an undertaking I’d rather take with all twelve troll designs at once. Come back to me when we have all twelve sprites!

Even if the the ‘games for girls’ thing was expanded on later, it’d be hard to prove it wasn’t a Hussie retcon. I love Karkat, but he’s a shitty teen, and it wouldn’t even be the worst thing he said today. 

Vrish-ka just feels right to me. Damn it, I can’t believe that’s how my Britishness comes out. This is almost as bad as ‘sweeties’. 

I love how this, coupled with the previous ask, accidentally implies that Sollux is British. Now that’s a headcanon I can get behind. 

He’s picked the wrong gimmick, then - he’s meant to be ‘never wrong’, but I’ve seen some wrong-ass spoilers!

Yup, I’ve arbitrarily decided this is my OTP - especially given that Lord English has become a more prominent character recently. This is the arc this comic needs!

Forgot about that. Perhaps your lusus’ diet depends on its subspecies, and Vriska - in a matter that she’d consider fitting - rolled the lusus with the worst diet of all. 

If we can pick our Aspect-themed powers, can I call dibs on ‘always has energy?’ 

True. Homestuck - the comic itself - has just one writer, though, so we shouldn’t be dealing with any Expanded Universe shenanigans. 

I guess Hussie could answer differently every time you ask a given question, or write multiple conflicting backstories for a character, but that would make the comic sort of hard to engage with or enjoy.  

I wouldn’t say it’s completely cut-and-dry that canon Midnight Crew implies canon Problem Sleuth. For one thing, the Midnight Crew isn’t even canon to Problem Sleuth! 

I never considered that Godhead Pickle Inspector could actually be an imaginary entity, only ‘omnipotent’ in one sphere of reality. That would make sense, given his origins. It would be fun if he was the source of the dream magic which allows Jade to grow extra arms, since that’s pretty close to how Imaginationland works.

Favourite thing? He’s the most some guy ever. Just a little creature. He’s so relatable because who among us hasn’t been in a situation where we feel wildly outclassed and surrounded by people who are cooler and more talented than us? Despite everything he just keeps going, what a legend

Least favourite is people who are wrong about him. How does anyone play that game and say he’s a nothing character? I just don’t get it, stop disrespecting my son

Honestly he’s got way more excellent lines than people give him credit for, but my favourite has to be “I always choose meat over veggies because I’m still in my teens… my meat teens.” Like WHAT are you talking about king I love it

Brotp probably him and Aoi. It’s the positivity besties

Otp is Naegiri. There’s just so much mutual respect between them and the story does a great job of writing them together that I can’t help but love him

Notp is probably just him with anyone that’s not kirigiri, or togami really. Whilst I personally hc Byakuya as aroace I do get why people ship naegami and I do think it’s kinda hilarious

I hc that him and Komaru are besties. Absolutely attached at the hip. They hang out all the time and he loves doing stuff with her, and is so so excited to introduce her to his new friends

To put it as succinctly as possible, he is just my favourite type of guy. He’s such a bitch, he’s so snarky about everything, he’s simultaneously the smartest and dumbest person in any given room, and he actually cares very deeply for things but he won’t readily admit to it. Least favourite is maybe less about him and more about Izuru Kamukura, and that is how underused he was. Obviously this is an opinion many people know about me, but it bears repeating because the concept of Kamukura was SO COOL and they barely even touched it and I’m mad about it every single day

Another guy that has so many good lines, but I think my favourite is “I thought I’d finally become someone I could be proud of, not some fucking backup student.” It just hits me so hard every time

Brotp probably him and Fuyuhiko or him and Impostor. I just think those three are the ones in the group with the highest sense of responsibility and they are the tired parents of this silly goofy pack of weirdos

Otp. It’s Komahina. Everyone knows this about me and I will refrain from writing an entire essay about why but suffice it to say. They are prefect

Notp is really anyone who’s not Komaeda, but specifically Nanami and Tsumiki are big on the No list for me

Unpopular opinion (so far the only character I’ve had one for) is that he’s not bi, he’s just gay. And look I love headcanoning every character ever as bi (again tooooootally not projecting) but whenever I replay/rewatch the game I see him being so gay about the men and being so uninterested in the girls (excepted for the super-forced hinanami stuff that I ignore)

It’s so hard to pinpoint why I love Saihara so much, but I think part of it is the fact that underneath his anxious exterior, he is actually very snarky. I’m always a slut for the sarcastic characters and I like the he is that as well as being generally polite to his classmates. He cares deeply and has a tendency to overthink things (totally not relatable) and I just need to give this poor man a HUG

Least favourite thing is how he interacts with Ouma in the canon outside of ftes. A good example of this being when he finds Ouma bleeding from the head on the floor and doesn’t seem to show any actual concern for him, which seems very out of character to me. I just think there was a lot more they could’ve done to build a connection between protag and antag that would’ve served to make the story more interesting, much the way the relationship between Hinata and Komaeda does

Short and sweet, my favourite Saihara line is simply “I refuse.” I am a big supporter of the idea that Shuichi should’ve been allowed to go a little crazy in chapter 6, and his whole telling off hope and despair speech was very fun. He really went “fuck you and your stupid game” and I just love it

Brotp has gotta be Kaito and Maki. I love the training trio and I think they have a great dynamic

Otp is saiouma. And yes I know I just raised a complaint about their lacklustre interactions in the game, but hey, canon can’t hurt me if I don’t look. There is a lot of potential for excellent character dynamics and that’s what I’m gonna focus on

Notp is saimatsu. Sorry anyone who likes them but it’s so comphet to me. Again, that is a gay boy and a lesbian, not a romantic couple

I hc that he really likes singing. Not to a professional degree or anything, but he does it while he works and it serves as a calming vocal stim for him. His voice is definitely very soft and sweet, which doesn’t lend itself well to his preferred genre of music (my sweet sweet emo boy) but that doesn’t stop him from trying

Again, so many songs I could choose from, but I will go with Swing Life Away by Rise Against because he’s just my sweet guy, my love, my boy

And once more, every image of Shuichi is my favourite, but I very specifically love his Serious Face sprite

I guess the takeaway is I like it when the protags get serious and start to shut shit down

How did you feel about the ending of Amphibia? Personally I’m still upset they got separated from their amphibian families, but that’s just me

I have complicated feelings. When I first watched it I was very satisfied with it. I thought it was a pretty brave and powerful ending. However under scrutiny I think its a bit of a mixed bag.

Salt and Sweets below

The Good

-To start, animation was really cool. Like I'll get to themes and junk in a second, the moon fight was cool. Anne's fight against Andrias was wild. Sasha's fight with Darcy was just awesome.

-I think the emotional scenes starting with Anne deciding to use the god spell to when they all are saying goodbye hit hard.

-I think sundering Amphibia from Earth really works for the themes they are going for. It forced Sasha and Anne to confront the same fear Marcy started the story with - having to leave their loved ones behind. I definitely think its sad but I did like it

-They actually pulled off Andrias's redemption arc for me. Which is wild cause I really thought there was no way they could get me to sympathize with the child Impaler after watching through true colors. Though this is kind of a mix cause I think without him the show lost its last good antagonist.

-Liked the scene with Anne and Sasha welcoming their girlfriend Marcy back from being possessed. All of them hugging and forgiving each other.

-I think the 8 month time skip or whatever for Amphibia was nice closure for a lot of our amphibian friends. We see Maddie achieve her dream of using the Dark Arts to help people. See Polly grown into a full frog. Ivy and Sprig going off on whole new adventures. Olivia and Yunan happy together. Grime living his best life, ending in a much better place than he started. And of course otp BesJoe got confirmed. It was a nice little send off to this world we came to love.

-I like Anne's little speech at the end along with the three girls reconnecting.

The Bad

-I feel in general Darcy was severely underutilized as a part of the narrative, which did detract from their impact. They loomed in the background for most of the season, had one conversation with our protagonist and is defeated before they can have another.

-On a related note: The core really failed for me as a villain. They're motivation is incredibly flat and 2-dimensional. For being a hivemind of supposedly the smartest newts of an ancient empire, it sure didn't seem to have a plan. I still don't understand why they wanted Marcy as a host beyond like... food? I guess? Eating? Also pathetic that they couldn't come up with a fantasy scenario that Marcy would believe for more than 20 minutes. Like jesus, they have access to her memories and those were the best facsimile's of Anne and Sasha they could muster? Then they're defeated and their only backup plan is 'become moon destroy planet' like really!? You had 1000 years to plan your return, you lose your host and immediately flip the board?! God there has been so much good fanworks exploring what Darcy could mean narratively and while I didn't expect Disney to do most of them between between being too dark/too gay, this was a let down.

-On a less tirade note: The fact that Marcy only got to relearn from her mistake in True Colors as her only development was kinda lame. It was a beautiful scene when she stands up to the core and realizes she can't make Anne and Sash like the same things, but I also feel like she was pretty much there considering her actions leading up to being impaled.

-The guardian was... fine I guess? Kind of left field? Dues Ex Machina rarely works well and I don't think they managed it here. Like don't get me wrong, glad Anne's not dead. But the guardian had some wack motivations that aren't really challenged by the narrative.

-On a related note of that other way, I was kind miffed that Anne insisted on taking the sacrifice on alone? Was there a reason they couldn't do it together. Sasha and Marcy getting to do some cool anime junk only for it not to really matter was kind of... hmmm... don't care for it.

-While I like the moment all three girls reconnect, and I actually do appreciate the futures and jobs and all that, the idea that they drifted apart in the first place didn't ring true. It felt like an ending that was written far ahead of time and didn't adjust for the arcs the characters went through.

-I could see maybe Marcy drifting apart, distance is a hell of a thing and keeping in touch is hard however the dialogue implying they just immediatly stopped touching base felt wrong.

-But Sasha and Anne? After what they went through together in 3b? With no distance between them? That sounded like some first draft nonsense. I've seen some posit that it was cause they had nothing but Amphibia in common afterword's, but that never felt right. Anne and Sasha's problem wasn't that they didn't have common interests, it was that Sasha was a control freak. I could see them building a bigger friend group, but I can't see them just casually drifting apart.

The hum of a droning program does little to distract from the desire for company, Jeongguk long since locked away in his office. You’re privy to the occasional raise of a voice, laughter piercing peaked ears, enticed by the unrelenting joy. Time just meets the mark of an hour when you’re rising in sweats, sights set on the kitchen for a roundup of snacks curated for an occasion such as this. 

You lose resolve as you tread, feet silent with socks against vinyl, towards Jeongguk’s closed door. You debate a knock though you’re reminded of headphone covered ears, the sound of unrelenting alerts and the deliverance of messages dripping with adoration and the occasional well intended dig. 

The door is pushed with exerted effort, the will to maintain grip on the items in your grasp. You’re stilled at the immediate whip of Jeongguk’s head, your entrance not as stealthy as planned. It’s with embarrassment that you realize the image of you fits to frame on the sizable monitor.

“Well hello there, come on in,” Jeongguk is less than surprised at your sudden appearance, already working on the plugging of spare headphones, his backup mic slotted into the stand. “The chat is already going crazy with donos because they like you better than me.” 

“They haven’t even met me,” You deposit your haul to the desk, face scrunched in mortification. You readily accept the placement of headphones, Jeongguk then rising to fetch a near chair. You take his absence as a chance to swoop in, bottom firmly planting in the gaming chair you’d gifted him. “Hi guys, I’m y/n if you don’t know! Guk never lets me sit in his chair, now I see why.”

You’re able to just catch the flash of comments that flood the screen. Viewers poking fun at your boyfriend and his love for the cushioned seats. Your chuckle is interrupted by his reappearance, a chair significantly less pleasing in his grip. 

“Your chat says that you love your chair more than me,” You regard with arms folded, Jeongguk quickly depositing the chair, arms framing you whilst he peruses the screen. 

“You guys are traders,” He points to the lens, feigned disappointment painting his otherwise innocent features. “She’s been on for two minutes and you’re already putting me on blast.”

“You’re not even gonna deny it!?”

“Babe, this chair feels like it was crafted by the gods. Tell me it doesn’t.” He fixes a stare, daring a fib. You shrug without the pretense to move, Jeongguk shifting you ever so slightly with encouragement. “Besides, you don’t need me, the chat has already collectively decided that this is your stream.”

True to word, you glance at the screen, the first words to catch your gaze being jeongguk who? I only see y/n <3. 

“You guys are so sweet! Why don’t you invite me to your streams?” You ask Jeongguk, his hands already reaching for a half eaten bag, as he settles into the spare chair, all but given up on regaining his spot. 

“You can come whenever you want,” He speaks as if it’s obvious past the crunch of a filled mouth. “I just didn’t think you were interested.”

“Not interested in spending time with you and this sexy crowd?” Jeongguk is quick to swallow, eyes widening at blatant flirtation. You feel yourself heat at your own words, unsure of sudden confidence. 

“Oh no, you’re giving them ideas. She’s mine, no one else look at her,” You muffle bursts of laughter at the attempt to shield you from the screen. As if to further prove the territorial gag you feel the press of lips to your cheeks. “Maybe this is why I never invited you, I’ve got competition now.” 

“But hey look, so many people are subbing!” This catches attention, your headphones half askew, a reminder of the alerts sounding in your ear. Jeongguk turns back to the streamer side, your eyes taking him in as he calls out thanks to the rise in sub counts and donations aplenty. 

“Y/n?” You blink, Jeongguk’s attention once more on you, a half smirk on his face. “They said that they want you to come on stream more.”

“Really?” You double check, sure that it’s something Jeongguk would say to boost a shy ego. Sure enough it’s the truth, chorus of agreement sounding off in every direction. You nearly shy into Jeongguk’s hoodie, but simply smile into the lens. “You guys are really sweet.”

“Careful, I’m not trying to let you steal my job.”

“Don’t worry, I love you too much to do that.” Now you’re the one dropping a kiss, thumb swiping along his dimpled cheek. “Let’s play a game!”

“Excuse me? You wanna play a game?” A valid response, your competitive streak not entirely present in this respect. Your explanation lies in the desire to gain the full experience.

“Yeah, we can play something simple like the game with the little round guys with all of the costumes!” You throw your arms out in vague movements, your words not seeming explanation enough. 

“Is-is my girlfriend turning into a gamer?” Jeongguk glances from you to the camera, expression undergoing a range of emotion, all over dramatic in right. “I don’t know guys, I might have to end the stream early if you know what I mean.”

“You’re so gross!” You counter with a gentle shove, both of you laughing at the declaration. He begins typing away at the screen, pulling up the game in question your vocals emitting to a rather pleased squeal. “Yes, this!”

“When have you seen anyone play this?”

“I watch you sometimes,” You admit sheepish, the topic never coming up. It’s not surprising you would support his streams, but the thought of being outside when you could’ve been a part of the action dawns. 

“Aw, you guys she watches my streams,” Jeongguk coos. “You wanna go first?”

“Oh no, I’m scared.” You respond in tiny, watching as the chat explodes with words of affirmation, still stunned at their ready acceptance. “So many people are watching.” 

“Yeah, but don’t worry. They won’t bully you like they do to me.”

“What?” You’re given no chance to thrust the controller away as it’s placed in your palms. Jeongguk leading you blind. You turn to him with wide eyes of betrayal, his hands already offering the raise of thumbs. 

“Good luck, you’ll do great!”

KLAINE (kurt x blaine) - and listen if u have klaine slander ur entitled to that. it is in no way a perfect ship, it has its moments for sure. but this is not the place for your discourse so kindly take that somewhere else. anyway i love these guys. so freakin much. they have such good chemistry and the way that they look at each other… chef’s effing kiss. this isn’t just a klaine post tho so i’ll keep it moving.

FABERRY (rachel x quinn) - eeee what do i even say?! first of all quinn is so queer coded it’s unbelievable. like ur telling me that girl isn’t a lesbian? come on. and second, i never saw rachel as gay until i came across this ship, but i see it as being kind of an insecurity of hers. like, she’s got all this stuff going for her and a secret she doesn’t know how to let out? idk. queer!Rachel doesn’t usually cross my mind except for in this ship cause it’s so cute and i love it

BRITTANNA (brittany x santana) - first of all this was the first canonical wlw ship i was ever really exposed to and they hold a special place in my heart for that considering i like girls 💅. but in all seriousness, i love their chemistry, i love santana’s whole “i hate everyone but you” thing and brittany just being fabulous and perfect. they are two of my fave characters also so…

BLAM (blaine x sam) - okay, so i don’t consider myself a multi shipper, but… if i had to pick up a backup for blaine, and if we’re staying within canon, relatively, i would have liked to see this as a hook up or a short lived thing in season 4 after blaine cheats on kurt :( or maybe in season 6 before the wedding bevause if everything is so effed up anyway might as well exchange that whole karofsky situation… yikes. it’s not endgame for me because they’re just bros but i do really like the idea

QUINNTANA (quinn x santana) - this was the gateway drug that led me to faberry which is why it’s in number five. i’m not going to lie, they had a lot of sexual tension in seasons 3-4 and that hookup at the ‘wedding’ was long awaited. again not endgame, but it’s more endgame material than blam. the reason it’s lower on the list is because i don’t care as much about their relationship dynamic as friends as i do with blaine and sam.

PEZBERRY (santana x rachel) - i need to stop prefacing like this because pretty much nothing on this list qualifies as endgame anymore after britanna. this is cute. would i read a fic about it? yeah. would i gush over fanart? sure. would i freak out of this had been canon in any way? definitely. but it’s not a hardcore ship, and they wouldn’t end up together.

MIKE X TINA - we’re really getting to the idc section of this post, because i have literally zero opinions on mike chang. i love tina though, and i think she was the best when she was with him… particularly in season 3. i love season 3 tina. love her!

FINCHEL (finn x rachel)- again, i don’t care. finn is a very neutral character imo - like i never really felt strongly one way or the other about him his whole time on the show. but, i liked seeing him happy with rachel, even though it seriously got in the way of my otp

ARTINA (artie x tina) hated this in season 1, hated it in season 6. but, it would have been cute if the writers had given it more thought instead of just making it a side ship, because they were obsessed with having everyone in the glee club pair up. ugh, i don’t know. it could be okay if it was actually done well.

ok, now onto the ships i don’t really like but decided to share my thoughts on anyway. ugh…

HEVANS (kurt x sam) - no? i mean, there’s nothing inherently wrong except they hardly have a relationship, at least in the better part of the series. i just don’t see the appeal tbh. no hate to hevans shippers though :)

PARTIE (puck x artie) - listen i don’t like pick and i definitely wouldn’t say i ship this… but it’s interesting. i’m not opposed. i’m sorry idk what this is either

PINN (?) (puck x finn) - listen… tina’s dream sequence where they were supposed to be playing kurt and blaine? it was freakin cute and while i just think they hate each other too much to ever have a romantic relationship, i think a one-sided pining situation is cute for them, or maybe a short lived high school thing. i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again. not endgame.

QUICK (quinn x puck) - it’s inherently problematic. i could go on and on about how quinn deserves better but it would be awful not even to mention the degree to which this is messed up. puck literallt sexually assaulted quinn- he got her drunk so he could have sex with her. it’s a big no for me. besides, even if that didn’t happen, these two would never make it.

Questions You Should Be Able To Answer For Any OTP: ChurroWind 

Coffee shop AU: Who is the barista, and who frequents the coffee shop?

Churro would be the grumpy-faced barista that everyone would rather avoid because he looks like he’d judge your drink choices, but really, that’s just his normal face. Wind is the one customer who looks like he’d order a cup of black coffee and then surprises everyone when he orders a diabetes-inducing drink. Churro and Wind would exchange a couple of words for conversation sakes, but never tried to cross the boundary of customer and server. It’s only after they found out that the other knows Millennial Tree did they start getting to know each other and hang outside of the coffee shop.

Highschool/College AU: Who is the straight-A student, and who’s the backrow slacker?

Churro is the straight-A student that thinks grades are of importance and gets frustrated when he sees the 3 mistakes he made on a 15 point quiz. Wind, on the other hand, is also the serious laidback guy that doesn’t mind if he gets a B or C since he already made backup plans if school doesn’t work out for him. He and Churro would get paired up in a project together and while they found each other annoying at first - being total opposites and all - they ended up teaching each other the importance of balancing schoolwork and taking breaks. And of course they were roommates in college.

Rivals to loves AU: Who takes their rivalry seriously, and who is half in it just to push the other’s buttons? 

Again, Churro takes things too seriously, even competing on who’d be a good guardian to MIllennial Tree (non-canon. he’d be more delighted to work with a literal god instead of trying to one up him lol). This cookie probably wakes up at 5 in the morning, eat a balanced breakfast for precisely 15 minutes, pray at the temple for an hour, and then exercise until he goes back to bed at 9 in the evening. Meanwhile, Wind would only stay to watch Churro puffed his cheeks in anger as he effortlessly purify any dark spirit that lives in the forest before Churro could even bring out his logs. They’d have a moment together in a cave after a fight gone wrong and then they’d bond.

Enemies to lovers AU: Which one switches sides?

Taking this from canon, Churro has tension with Wind because he put his village to sleep (even when it was obvious he was being controlled) and was hostile to him at first. He glares at him every time he visits him and replace his bandages or bring him a bowl of soup to eat. He replies in short sentences and only stays for a couple of minutes before he’s out of the door. Wind is very much confuse why Churro seems to be angry with him but opt to stay quiet because he doesn’t want to appear rude while he’s under their care. Wind stayed for a week; enough time for Churro to use his one jellybean braincell and talked to him about the incident.

Soulmate AU: Who is eager to meet their soulmate? Who absolutely does not want to meet their soulmate? 

Wind is a God with an important job to protect the Tree. He doesn’t have time for romance considering he’s going to outlive them someday. Honestly, he’d rather not have a soulmate at all, at least it wouldn’t distract him every time he feels a pull in his heart whenever he’s purify spirits. Churro grew up hearing stories about soulmates from his elders and relatives - how they talked about the ups and downs soulmates could have, the fights that may erupt and break them apart, and the rewards one could get if they stayed true - he wants to experience all of that. Imagine his surprise when he felt a strong pull the moment he laid his eyes on Night Raven, the cookie who put his village to sleep.

Single parent AU: Which one is the single parent? (Alt. if they’re both single parents: Which one is open to starting a new relationship from the start? Which one is never planning on finding love again… Until they meet the other and are instantly smitten?)

In line with my headcanon that Churro would probably adopt Poison Mushroom Set in a more modern time, after he hears about how Pomegranate and Licorice would usually leave them alone at home, he adopts Poison Mushroom with their consent and raised them for several years. Poison Mushroom meets Wind after the latter asked them about their guardian’s whereabouts and they ended up bonding with each other. Churro is suspicious of Poison Mushroom’s new friend and asks them if he could meet up with him. Que Churro and Wind co-parenting Poison Mushroom without noticing how close they’ve gotten with each other.

Doctor AU: Which one is the longsuffering doctor? Which one is the patient? 

Wind gets shot by a stray arrow while teaching at the local archery range. The poor cookie had to be driven to the hospital with an arrow stuck to his shoulder and Churro comes out of his office looking like he hasn’t slept in three days and the only thing fueling him is hot chocolate. He takes one good look at Wind and downs another cup before taking care of his injury. You’d think that would be the last time they saw each other, but nope, Wind comes back with another arrow stuck in his other shoulder and Churro this time scolds him for being careless. Wind argues back and now their whole squabble could be heard throughout the hospital.

Bodyguard AU: Who is the bodyguard? Who are they protecting? Which one is secretly pining for the other? 

This one is basically canon since Wind and Churro are bodyguards to Millennial Tree. At first they were simple colleagues that respect each other’s strength and would only talk with each other if necessary. But get this, Millennial Tree ships it and tries to matchmake them while pretending to be an oblivious old man who speaks to animals in his spare time. Now for some reason, Churro and Wind are going out to dinner, taking breaks at an amusement park, sleeping the same room when they’re out of town, per MT’s orders. Churro falls first and let me tell you, he is suffering from this sudden crush he’s having.  

Pirate AU: Who is the pirate? Who is the member of the royal family who did not sign up for this? 

Wind is a wanted cookie known for stealing from the rich and giving them to the poor, and also shooting as a warning to anyone who annoys him. Churro is accompanying his cousin to an important gathering even though he’d rather stay back to look after the village and socialize with the other cookies there. Wind lands on their ship one night and tries to take control but Churro fights back and accidentally throws them overboard, They get stuck on an island and have to learn to work together and wait for someone to rescue them.

Childhood best friends AU: Which one was super obviously in love with the other the whole time? Who was oblivious until they were older?

Churro will always be the cookie who falls first. Wind was created at an even earlier time, and he came out as a child cookie rather than the adult one he thought he was going to have. Sugar Swan wanted him to experience having a childhood first before taking up the bow and bearing the responsibility on his shoulders. He meets a young Churro Cookie while wandering in the forest and the two of them hit it off. They promise they’ll meet again when they’re older after they accomplish their dreams. And then Night Raven happened.
