#12. “Oh my... I’m... uh... speechless”

The more you got to know Leonora Lesso, the more you found out all the things she hated.

Parties, disruptive students, tickles, pda, and the list goes on and on…

But out of all the things that Lesso disliked, her birthday was by far the worst.

“Wait what…? What’s wrong with your birthday?” You quizzically asked the red head, when she had confessed her distain for the special day.

Leonora huffed, taking a moment to set her half graded papers aside.

“I just never had good experiences with that day.” She confessed, “My parents often made it a big deal, as way to manipulate me. Then when I came to the school, I was afraid to tell people. No one asked, no one knew… It’s just a reminder to me of how lonely it was.”

“Oh Leo… I’m so sorry…” you comforted the red head.

Her words made your heart ache for your girlfriend. And by her tone, you could tell it was a touchy subject, so you didn’t push it any further than that.

However, you did resolve that day, that you were going to do something about her not having any good experiences on her birthday…

A couple months later, the dreaded day finally arrived…

Lesso woke up with a splitting headache. She winced in pain, getting up and getting herself some advil. She popped two little pills in her mouth and then made her way to her closet to get dressed.

Leonora knew since she lay in bed and her eyes had squinted open, what today was. She just did what she always did. Ignored her birthday. It was for the best, she always told herself.

Before she could enter her closet, you came knocking at her door. Lesso sighed at the distraction, but she had to admit, you as a distraction wasn’t too bad. The red head opened the door to you, letting you into her private quarters.

“Morning!” You chirped, giving Leonora a peck on the lips.

The woman blushed ever so slightly at the physical display of affection. She then grumbled a ‘morning’ back to you, before slowly going back to her previous efforts of getting her clothes for the day. She winced in pain once more.

“Headache…?” You immediately offered in comfort, knowing that look of pain on the red head well.

The woman nodded. As she stood at the door to the closet, Lesso couldn’t help but notice your apparent giddy and excited nature this morning. Your eyes were wide, you were bouncing on your heels, and you were nervously biting you lips.

“What’s up with you?” Lesso chuckled in light amusement, but also with a tone of skepticism.

“Ohh nothing…” you teased her with anticipation, trying to stifle your need to erupt in giggles and smiles, “How about you open your closet…?”

Lesso quirked her brow and then simply opened the door. She looked around for anything that might be out of place. Everything seemed untouched… Except for a one, black and brown, classy box, sitting on the middle of the closet floor.

“What’s this…?” Leonora asked, picking the box up and turning around to look at you quizzically.

“Your birthday present from me” you quipped with a light and happy shrug.

Lesso took a minute to process your words. She stared down at the wrapped gift box.

“I wanted to get you something… Please just open it…?” You explained in a softer voice.

She then nodded without words and began to open the box. Her hand slipped off the brown bow on the elegant black box, and she then opened the lid. The red head placed the box on her desk, then picking up the piece of clothing and holding it out in front of her, in order to get a look at it.

“Oh my…” A small gasp escaped Leonora’s lips as she stared at the fine, tailored trench coat in her hands. She placed it back in its box and said nothing. Her back was now faced to you, making you a little nervous as to what she thought about it.

“So… what do you think…?” You quietly asked.

After a minute, Leonora turned around. Her eyes were glossy as they met your gaze.

“…I’m... uh... speechless…” the redhead stammered.

A tear escaped her eye. You came up close to Leonora, taking her hands in your own.

“I just wanted you to have something nice, a good memory for your birthday…” you whispered.

More tears started to flow down the woman’s cheeks.

“Thank you…” she whispered.

Your own eyes started to tear up now.

“Of course.” You whispered back, tucking a stray strand of your girlfriends hair behind her ear.

Without warning, Leonora took you into a full embrace. For a second, you were shocked, but you quickly thawed out of alarm and snuggled yourself into the red head’s form.

“I love it…” Lesso confessed.

“I love you…” you responded.

“Love you too…” she whispered in response.

Sae, though he acts like he doesn't care, actually makes an effort to spend time with you even if it means skipping a practice. He is the type to automatically have a frown on his face if some random guy talks to you. Like I can just imagine him being all, "who's this guy, baby?" and glare straight at the guy. Sae likes face timing you everynight before you sleep whenever he's outside the country, just to make sure you're sleeping on time, and of course to see your face to ease his tiredness.

Sae who becomes shy whenever you tease him a bit too much making him blush a lot, which you do often 'cause you think it's cute. I think that if Sae actually let his guard down on someone, he would be the type to blush at some simple compliment, especially if it's his girfriend who's telling him all that. He has the bbg energy and he loves cuddles specially after he comes back from a tiring match, he just sinks in the bed after he showers and asks you in a sleepy voice that he wants cuddles. (umm... this is for my personal pleasure hehe).

Boyfie!Sae who likes to eat your cooking so much that he requests for it everyday for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Whenever he's with you, he doesn't get hungry nor order takeouts.

Boyfriend!Sae that buys you all kinds of souvenirs from all over the world everytime he has a match, be it a plushie or a merch of him.

Sae also likes to see you wearing his jersey because seeing his number on you makes him feel good which kinda makes sense because he's the possessive type of boyfie.

Agares and Gaap helped Suzy-Sensei with her gardening. It was for have her signature but still.

Kerori was ready to reveal that she was Kuromu to help to convince the last teachers, even if she was scared to do it. She was ready to destroy her cover for the class.

Exam Arc

No one has cheated. They have seen Iruma working a lot to sucess and were like "we gonna do it too". Result? Sucess for everyone. No Rank 1 anymore in the class.

Meanwhile Buer-Sensei has FOUR cheaters in his own class XD

Walter Park

Agares didn't hesitate to follow Iruma and the others for save the kids in Walter Park, he's grumpy and all but he helps, and he even smiles and let the kids ride his could.He could have go to the refuge with Rononove but decided to help to save the kids.

A little before, he was playing with them. Still grumpy but he was doing it.

He has had the reflex to save everyone around him when the monsters appeared.

Elizavetta? She didn't hesitate to play with the kids to reassure them, when she was in the refuse. She used her power to calm them and all. Meanwhile adults has yelled at her when the kids started criying. A teen was more ready to calm scared children than any adult here (except the parents, of course).

Kerori, even if she must have been scared, decided that calming all these terrified people was more important than her own fear. With the risk that Elizavetta recognize her, maybe.

Harvest Festival

Agares and Gaap let people sleep in their castle. Well Agares was very grumpy about it but he didn't do a lot to stop Gaap's decision. And he was very determined to protect the castle when Kerori has decided (to have fun) to steal his points. Like Gaap was.

Caim was totally ok with translating what Naphra was saying.

Kerori has had no problems to help Lied and Iruma to find the legendary items. Later she will have no problem to help Iruma to reach Clara. of course she asked something in exchange, but still she helped.

Allocer got back the pot that Orobas had stolen from Lied and give it back to Iruma and Lied. He also told Azz that Orobas was going to attack Clara and Iruma.

Jazz has told to the teachers "hep; you forget the points of the pot" Sure it was because he was petty toward Orobas with good reasons, because Orobas has been an asshole with all the misfits but Jazz still saved Lied and Iruma and they won thank to him.

Azz has destroyed his chance of victory to protect Clara and Iruma.

Music Festival

Kerori has almost blows her cover again, to help the class to prepare for the festival.

Purson decided that win the festival with his friends was more important than what his father was saying.

Evidol Games

Everyone has protected Chima, not only Iruma, but Kuromu, Ameri and Lied too.

Kuromu who has reacted that her (girfriend) rival called Iruma "ugly" XD

Heartbreaker Arc

Allocer has accepted to be Jazz's backup, knowing that he would have FOUR first years to protect rather than two. And he managed to protect one of Jazz's first year, even in the intensity of the moment (when someone tried to kill him few seconds before). It's thanks to him that Jazz wins with Azz.

All the Misfits and their first years who have work together to stop Sullivan to enter the game.

Caim who has super brave to protect everyone while they tried to stop the device. (see Jazz? it's what "sacrifice" meant, not your foolish plan)

Sabro who chooses to enter his Wicked Phase, because he realized that Atori was dangerous and that it was not a exam anymore, with all the risks that it could have. Because he wanted to protect the first years.

Agares who goes to Gaap's house to speak with him, listen what happened and reassure him.

There are so good kids XD

You see, this is why it boggles me that these are the ones seen as "trouble makers". Never out right said, but heavily implied at the beginning.

And like, these are the kids that are pointed out to follow their desires more than most, yet they still help even if the outcome won't benefit them

these kids that steal and gamble and are the ones who chose to help in the walter park event although it is nowhere near there responsibility

They choose to help and protect complete strangers in several occasions during the manga even when there chances of surviving was nonexistent.

And these kids will drop everything to help each other. Even Azz, the most distant of them, couldn't enjoy his win in the heartbreaker because he won alone

These are very good kids. The best kids iruma could've met, and it's very heartwarming whenever they're protective of each other.

And isn't it ironic, that the most selfish people in this manga are two certain humans who chase their pleasure on the expense of their own son?

Revolutionary Girl Utena (Sega Saturn) Playthrough: Part 1

Finally watching the movie has gotten me back to the series in full swing. When I heard about to game i decided to play it. I will post my thoughts on the game as we go! Taking some snapshots for people to use is nice as well. Might or might not continue this.

This game has been translated by fans! I can't thank them enough honestly, they're doing god's work. I imagine this game will be very long (╯▽╰ )

You start as a purple haired girl with two pigtails. There is basically nothing notable about you other than your parents meeting in Ohtori.

Our first sight is Saionji bullying Anthy. Anthy says she is engaged to Utena so this is after the first duel. I've been told this game takes place during the black rose arc. If that's true I hope we get to see Kozue and Shiori.

I didn't take any screencaps here but basically we have a chance to interrupt them or watch. If you interrupt him Utena comes in time to help! Idk what happens with the other option tho lol.

You later meet Utena in your class and have a chance to talk to her. The first thing our protag asks is her love life. I was tempted to pick the first option here, if you do protag assumes Utena is a boy and everyone makes fun of you. I hate when visual novels do this shit. I was asking her if SHE had a girfriend, game. I picked the second option so everything goes smoothly mostly.

Wakaba jolts in to bring up Utena's prince and tells her she shouldn't lie to the new student. Then Utena proceeds to tell us one of her most important memories. To us. Who she met minutes ago. It's a weird way to give us the exposition but whatever. At least we get to see Wakaba! I wan't to talk to her as much as I can. My bestie. My poor little meow meow.

We get to have tea with Utena and Anthy. They have been really nice to us so far. That's Utena for you. Anthy explains us the the duels when we mention Saionji talking about a Rose Bride. Utena doesn't seem to enjoy this at all. Our options here are: Saying we wanna get engaged too, changing the topic, or cracking a joke. I wanted to get my relationship points with Utena up and hoped to cheer her up a bit. I crack a joke only for her to think I wasn't taking her seriously. Oh well.

We also have to talk to Akio to get our dorm number. Thank god this place has an elevator. I don't know how to explain this but he look like a loser in the picture. We learn we are in the same dorm as Utena and Anthy. And Chu chu, too. Can't forget about Chu chu.

Akio explains us the layout roughly. Our attention goes to the fencing club building, apparently protag's dad used to be an advisor in the fencing club. Him and protag's mom met in the fencing club.

A few things the note here. There is a calendar from 15 years ago marking the 25th there. What's weirder is the drawing on the wall. It shows the council members and Utena, along with our new character. We don't manage to get a glimpse of her open locker before she finds us and...

There is no way she is the is the president of the fencing club. That's a tax paying adult right here.

So... Sanjouin Chigusa. I like her design. I like that her hair curls up to look like roses. Her colors are nothing revolutionary but they do look nice together. The ice blue hair, the royal purple outfit and the passionate red eyes tell us everything we need to know about her. Also, she is the only female character to have squinting eyes like that. I guess that's why our character couldn't tell her gender. Though she doesn't have the stupid long face like Touga or Akio does. Her face does reminds me of Mikage, actually.

Apparently, the east dorm we are assigned to is suppose to be for the Rose Bride and the one engaged. The student council invites us to a masquerade party to see what our deal is. They think the end of the world is why we got assigned there (And they're right.)

Utena and Anthy come with us because Utena was worried about us o(^ ^)o Anthy even lends one of her dresses to us too. Utena just comes in with her normal outfit. Peak Utena behavior.

Touga should be hosting the ball but he is too busy being a playboy. I accept one compliment from him out of politeness and he immediately takes my hand.

Could have told me that earlier, Utena.

I think I just made an enemy out of every woman in the school. Our character notes that Touga looks like her dad. Yeah, I haven't mentioned it but our dad looks exactly like Touga. Our mom looks similar to Shiori. I don't really wanna think about that.

We lose Anthy and Utena after this. We run across Saionji instead, bullying Chu chu. I tried to be less direct so I tried to distract him. Protag told Saionji Anthy was looking for him and he ran to find her straight away. I may have made a mistake.

We stumble on Chigusa as if all this wasn't enough. It seems like she was looking for us. I'm a dumb little lesbian so I am naturally excited o(*￣▽￣*)ブ

Things don't turn out so well as it becomes clear she fucking hates our guts. She definitely has beef with our parents over something happened 15 years ago. The incident being 15 years ago also means our parents had us a short time after the event. This isn't looking good at all.

To nobodies surprise, she also happens to be a duelist. Putting a note on our back and escaping is one of the funnier ways to challenge Utena.

The council has declared Chigusa officially as the enemy.

“Thanks for walking me home, Umi-chan.” Kotori said as the couple approached the apartment complex entry. “Would you like to stay for dinner?”

“I would like that very much.” Umi agreed. “Thank you, Kotori.”

Kotori hummed happily to herself and hugged her girfriend’s arm tighter for the last few steps. Reluctantly, she let go with one hand so she could unlock the door.

“Oh, let me check my mail quick.” Kotori led them over the bank of boxes. “Yay!” She cheered immediately upon opening hers. “Umi-chan, one of your letters arrived! I’m going to have to read it as soon as…”

“K-K-Kotori!” Umi sputtered.

“Mm?”

“P-Please wait until I have departed before you read that.”

Kotori blinked. “May I ask why?” Although as soon as she asked, she knew the answer.

“B… Because… it’s embarrassing…” Umi averted her gaze as brilliant scarlet spread across her face.

“But you know, Umi-chan is the only girl I know who still sends hand-written letters.” Kotori said as she reclaimed her girlfriend’s arm.

“You send them to me in return.” Umi pointed out.

“True.” Kotori acknowledged. “But that’s because I know how much my Umi-chan loves receiving them in return. And I don’t have nearly the skill to create the works of art Umi sends me; beautifully worded, poetic love letters, painted with meticulous calligraphy style on fancy paper.”

“I still love your letters, Kotori.” Umi stated. “And your artistry lies with your amazing ability to turn ordinary cloth and thread into amazing garments.”

Kotori smiled at the compliment, but silently wished that for once, Umi would just accept a compliment without needing to dismiss, downplay or turn it around.

“Anyway, there are things I find myself unable to say out loud.” Umi admitted. “However, when I hold a brush in my hands and think of Kotori, everything just… flows. Additionally, the experience as a whole captivates me. From grinding the ink to choosing the paper and brush. Then deciding on what words I wish to say and finally putting them to the paper. Honestly, even the wait for the letter to be delivered and its reply returned, while they are lost in the liminality of the postal service adds to the experience. It is so very much different from the instant gratification with which modern technology has inundated us.”

Kotori giggled. “Umi-chan is far more romantic that she herself realizes.”

“Perhaps…”

“Well as thanks, I will make sure tonight’s dinner is extra special.” Kotori assured as she opened her apartment door.

“I shall look forward to it.” Umi replied.

Tonight would be another good night.

Author’s Note Continued: I realized after a comment on the Discord channel that I really don’t write KotoUmi all that much. Perhaps I should look to change that. I do really enjoy the pair after all.

Im not sure why i just randomly decided to write here, but i think i just had some weird moment of feeling depressed (its probably slipping through my fingers that started playing) while i was ctting-i had to cover up the name of literally some random guy i carved yesterday lmao. anyway the song always makes me think about my relationship with my mom- or in this case the lack of it. im always going to cry listening to it, it makes me remember how i watched mamma mia as a little girl and now im 18 already about to graduate without really my mom being here for me. our relationship is very complicated becasue i know that if i called her wanting to talk (if shed pick up) i could talk to her about anything but the thing is that i dont feel like doing that becasue i dont feel like shes my mom, i just dont feel any connection. i get so sad thinking about 5 year old me having no mom, and becasue of my dads work he wasnt really there for me either, ive been all alone ever since i was a kid and its so fucking miserable

am i going to feel lonely forever? i dont even want a romantic relationship at this point, i just feel that if i felt the feeling of being cared for when i was younger i wouldnt be like this now. even this weekend im all alone at home beacsue dad is in szczecin again, i dont think me and him are ever going to be any closer, it was most of the time me, him and his current girfriend. i wish we could go on vacation or anything just the two of us or with my brother too, since me and him both didnt feel the parental love growing up. maybe im exaggerating a little becasue i maybe did feel the love from my dad, but i was too young to be alone all the time (i know thats not his fault tho)

anyway i figured out i might have bpd? i know i should go to a psychiatrist or something, but ill do that when im older. i never thought the constant feeling or empitness and not knowing myself, feeling like no one could be it. i think i manifested it for myself when i was talking to A. i lied to him about having it to justify all my lies but i either had it all the time, which would explain my anger and jealousy issues when i talked to him or i actually gave it myself on purspose. either way im fucked up

🦝 Interesting that "one element" you said from the previous post, It follows the isekai sub-gen and the only obvious thing about it is that it is fantasy true, so the world building/exploration was suppose to be the priority I think. The world isn't explored that much outside the school and most seetings happen at the owl house. Besides Luz curiosity, the writers don't seem to find a drive/reason to take the seeting elsewhere.

But speaking of the the plot happening frequently at the owl house , I was getting sick of that at one point, I know who the main characters are but I wanted more episodes focusing on other characters that isn't necessary the hexside, maybe another school? Maybe even that kids shack from the body swap episode? Or even someone's else home.

And I noticed we rarely get episodes outside Luz's pov. The only episode that stays with me when this doesn't happen is eclipse lake, I know it's still focused around Luz but I appreciated that for the most part she wasn't the voice and the thought of it, it was Amity and it felt like the show finally remembered her as a character for once, not just a fodder/love interest, minus the repetitive "awesome girfriend" thing but it still sucks cause that was her end goal there, to be awesome gf, nothing related to the main plot, I didn't mind as much the first time until I realized that this is what's gonna be of her character from now on.

But that aside, this is what I wanted from more characters, different perspectives, personal lives outside the main plot and outside Luz, heck I wanted episodes that focuses on Amity's ex friends group while she was still there, cause the grudgby thing was awesome and I was curious what else they can do individually (and I wanted more Boscha/Amity content). This would've also gave more insight to Amity as a character in general, especially with Willow and the bullying issue besides the "It's my parents fault" and while still valid it didn't hold much weight after their introduction.

Also I'm really glad I'm not the only one who noticed that Eda has gone through sudden character changes as well, while not as drastic as Amity or Hunter, I was taken aback when I saw the motherly undertones from her. I understood it in s1 with king and I saw it more as a gag to make fun of his tantrums.

In s2 from the first episode "separate tides" when she said her life was great thanks to Luz but the only things she can recall where they bonded significantly are the first episode stealing the paper crown, and the last episode where she almost died (petrified but whatever), and that Luz got her to talk with Lilith again although that never happened on screen, out of 19 episodes which is funny, that emotional talk came out of nowhere, I didn't feel the connection before it.

So I guess this is where the found family started taking over but I doubt we needed that.

I like the ramblings! They're a lot of fun! Honestly, the biggest issue is just that the asks are in part to help me scale down my amount of ramblings. For me to answer to every part of this would make for a... LONG blog. So I'd love to talk about a lot of this but could you perhaps make each time you would have broken it into another section into another ask? It's just easier for me to organize and respond coherently to that way. ^^;
