Fancying Aaron Hotchner and Spencer Reid at the same time is like ordering a strong black coffee and a caramel Frappuccino with cream and drizzle on the side.
Don’t ask me how I came up with this I don’t know either 💀

ok so what I kind of alluded to in this post the other day
like choices were made with bbc!Javert that's for sure but also he is not unrecognizable
from the beginning, they decided that Javert would have power. He was not just helping in Toulon, he was the guy there. He had no one to answer to, he had no superiors there. He followed the law and the rules of Toulon, cruelly and coldheartedly.
And so they established his character to be like this. Then he became a policeman and got promoted to an inspector and assigned to Montreuil. We were supposed to see him working under Madeleine, but they decided that bbc!Javert would recognize him immediately - there was zero doubt in his mind.
"Good God! it is very easy to be kind; the difficulty lies in being just. Come! if you had been what I thought you, I should not have been kind to you, not I! You would have seen!" (Hapgood)
(the translation I'm reading is using "good" (because the French is using "bon") and not "kind", but I think it doesn't matter much)
So bbc!Javert had no reason to act extremely respectfully and deferentially (in some way, he acted as Javert in the book before Madeleine became the mayor, but bbc!Javert was more forward and open about it. We only got very little from that period in the book; and the most we got was him provoking Madeleine during the cart scene).
And because bbc!Javert always knew, his character needed to be kept consistent and so his characterization would be mainly taken from Fantine's arrest and Valjean's arrest.
Javert doesn't listen to people he deems to be criminals. He doesn't care. Any protestation will make him angry, he will raise his voice. Javert enjoys power and hates when his authority is mocked and threatened.
During Valjean's arrest, Javert is petty, he literally stomps his foot, he even grasps Valjean's coat, cravat and shirt. He is elated, cruel, and uncaring.
“I tell you that there is no Monsieur Madeleine and that there is no Monsieur le Maire. There is a thief, a brigand, a convict named Jean Valjean! And I have him in my grasp! That’s what there is!” (Hapgood)
During the Montreuil era, bbc!Javert is a version of book!Javert that excluded the presence of a superior Javert would respect, i.e. Madeleine, imho. There was only a thief and a criminal present for bbc!Javert, and so he behaved accordingly.

okay. i have finally finished my rewatch and i think i've finally made sense of my thoughts vis a vis ted and jamie's relationship.
i think it's very interesting that the exact moment ted pulls away from being directly involved in jamie's development is when he realizes that what jamie needs is a father. like in season one and arguably the first half of season two he is very hands on in trying to get jamie to realize his potential/the error of his ways but like. things are noticeably different after he sees him and james through the door, and then after wembley they do not really interact again in a meaningful way until mom city. roy literally picks it up as ted sets it down, like. he can't be what jamie needs he doesn't Want to, he can barely even handle what he feels for henry like we see in mom city, he's not picking up a bonus son you know
i really do think it's a very interesting way to handle their relationship specifically. they're so so intertwined in their character arcs and they're constantly setting each other's off but they can't really meet in the middle because ted can't/won't connect with him on that level. they're a son without a father and a father without a son and they can't click into that relationship because ted pulls away from him the minute it becomes clear that's what jamie needs, and we see it come full circle and see why in his monologue during mom city

OCs DESERVE BETTER -> Ariadne Paris / Penelope Jackson (Percy Jackson & the Olympians) Disney: Abby James Witherspoon Movies: Eline Powell Books: India Eisley
"I'm not - that's impossible. I was found abandoned and given to Lord Oceanus as a baby to raise. I'm not this... Penelope Jackson you seem to think I am. Why should I trust anything you say? You can't even see that the gods don't give a damn about you!"
A little known fact to anyone that is not Sally, Percy and Poseidon - Sally was originally pregnant with twins, a boy and a girl. But only the boy, Perseus - Percy - survived. Or so everyone always assumed. In reality, the Titans and their followers had discovered that not only had Poseidon broken the oath and set the Great Prophecy potentially in motion, but the woman was pregnant with twins: a flip of the coin, and either child could be the one of prophecy. So a plan is devised, one that is cleverly hidden from even the Gods - kidnap one of the babies and leave another in place, one that would be enough mix of sea and mortal to fool even Poseidon but the baby's soul was already in the Underworld. The baby that is kidnapped is born Penelope Jackson and is given to Lord Oceanus to raise as he would. And so Penelope Jackson is renamed Ariadne Paris - a reminder of the cruelty of both gods and humanity - and raised with one goal in mind: serve Kronos and destory the Gods and Olympus itself when the time comes.
When Zeus' bolt is stolen and word is recieved that Poseidon's demigod son is being sent on a quest to retrieve it, Ariadne is given the mission of infiltrating Camp Half-Blood as a spy for the Titans. But like calls to like, and Percy and Ariadne still find themselves drawn to one another, while the camp tries to figure out who's parent the mysterious new camper is and why their powers seem more aligned with the Sea God's more violent side.

it's hilarious how this character archetype had this theme most likely unintentionally. the fact I have a soft spot for all three of them and I also have daddy issues … Oops.

Why do so many Gilmore girls fans like Tristan? I mean I love chad michael murray but Tristan is an awful character. He was constantly an asshole to Rory. He harassed he multiple times even after she CLEARLY told him she was not interested and continued being a dick and persuing her when she got a boyfriend. Also he was unnecessarily mean to Dean who was just protecting his girlfriend. Honestly if he was played by some non conventionally attractive actor he'd be called a creep ( which he was) but since it was Chad Micheal Murray people think it's charming. If this isn't pretty privilege then what is?.
