I've recently discovered that you've returned in all your glory, and I'm super glad to see it! Really delights me seeing you on my dash <33
My partner, however, scrolled through your blog maybe two minutes reading all your tags and went "damn. OD came back Punished™️ huh."
tbh like? Sort of, yeah, oD as a "person" (he was never really that, he was always sort of a performance I put on for the brand) is straight up dead, I've ego deathed out of being able to be that guy. The name will stick around on the youtube channel, but even there i'm planning character rebrands because doing anything else feels wrong.
but it was real life trauma shit from my parents that pushed me to the brink, not really anything online. The homophobic harassment I got from them over the last month or so pushed me back into being suicidal and also they called the cops on me and got me involuntarily thrown into a hospital i almost got choked to death in! Its been a rough rough fucking couple months, and for all the drama i've relatively spawned, it barely had anything to do with Homestuck.
Losing a lot of my social circle IN homestuck due to my trauma responses didnt help that but whatever, i made new friends pretty quick and feel like letting go of any sense of responsibility to protecting the image of WP or the Epilogues has freed me substantially to just be a fan and hang out trying to make shit. If anything, I feel free!
Especially since it resulted in me FINALLY divorcing my brains stupid twitter addiction and i was immediately rewarded for it with a vibrant new dirkjake and general mlm shipping scene on Tumblr, which honestly, is all I've ever wanted or needed from Homestuck.
I'm still pretty punished and will be until the day I get everything I want from this comic (canon dirkjake soulmate marriage) but that day's coming faster and faster and in the meantime i'm having more fun in this fandom than I have in years.
still, can't w8it.

Although I enjoy a good "Jack Drake is a physically and mentally abusive asshole and deeply homophobic" fic as much as the next ex-Catholic lesbian, I have to admit that I have a way softer spot in my heart for "clueless blundering ass who makes everything worse" Jack Drake.
Maybe it's because my own parents were deeply homophobic in a very different way to others. If you asked them, they'd tell you they have no problem with queer people. They don't care what anyone does in the privacy of their own home, really! Therefore they're not homophobic! But they just don't think you have to make it your whole personality. You don't have to shove it in everyone's faces. And all these new labels for things, what's up with that? Isn't it enough for people to just be gay or straight?
So because I do be projecting, I have a soft spot in my heart for Tim coming out to Jack as bisexual, and Jack just sort of...short-circuiting, for a hot minute. "Well, I'll always love you, son." And Tim thinks that this went pretty well, actually. But Jack later is maybe telling Tim that there are ground rules for him and his dates. Can't bring boys back to the house, strict curfew, has to let Jack know where he is and with whom at all times. Jack doesn't kick Tim out or anything, or call him names, but it's uncomfortable living there now in a way that it wasn't before. Jack has a weird vibe about him when Tim talks about a boyfriend or a male crush. Shuts down the conversation really quickly and won't entertain it any longer. Jack starts being critical of Tim in ways that he wouldn't if he didn't know about his son's sexuality; he asks why Tim feels the need to have a bi pride flag in his room, or why he has to make this his defining characteristic now. And Jack never actually says the word "bisexual." It's always "this." How they just need to leave "this" alone for a while, they need to not make every conversation about "this."
Because Tim is such a person to let a person's good characteristics speak miles more than their bad ones, if they're close enough to him. He has plans in place if Batman goes rogue, but not for his own protection, never for himself. Always for everyone else's benefit. He can live with what happens to him if he's wrong. So of course he'd never call his dad a homophobe, that's not - his dad didn't kick him out. Doesn't hit him or call him names or say mean things to him. It hurts his feelings sometimes, but he takes worse than that from street thugs every night. It's not like he can't handle his dad being a little weird about things.
Right?

How Eddie wins over Mr Harrington (by barely trying)
(in ten simple-ish steps)
Basically, how I imagine Steve's dad to be. I kind of think they have more in common than they don't, and maybe his son being queer is the *kick* that he needs to be a better human being (just like Nancy was for Steve).
Richard Harrington unexpectedly comes home from a business trip to find his son in flagrante delicto on his couch with an immediately antagonistic young man, (Edward, he later discovers), he waits in the kitchen, seething with disappointment and rage. Steven takes his things and leaves without a word, leaving the Munson boy to very purposefully throw Steven's house key at Richard's feet, keeping eye contact as he does so. The disrespect is blinding, and that night Richard drowns his anger in whiskey.
Days later his son comes home to collect his remaining belongings, supported by the Munson boy and his uncle. Wayne Munson is a enigma; on the one hand, clearly a soft liberal, but also a no-nonsense, sensible veteran with family values. Edward doesn't acknowledge Richard at all, too focused on guarding Steven from him. He watches his son cry like a child in the backseat, half listens as Wayne encourages him to keep in contact, and inwardly flinches when he sees Edward glare at him through the car window. He's not sure why his chest aches. Steven chose this path, he tells himself. Steven chose this.
Richard returns again to Hawkins, some weeks later, detouring past the store his son works in. He finds himself parked opposite, watching as Steven dances childishly with a female colleague through the shop windows. He's smiling and laughing and Richard's chest aches again. The passenger door opens and that boy gets in without permission. 'Stevie doesn't need you', he says, bold as brass in leather and covered in tattoos and chains, 'but he'll forgive you if you ask'. It hurts, and the only way Richard can breathe again is to invite them both to dinner later in the week. The subtle relief on Edward's face is immediate, and Richard hates himself a little less, though he's not sure why. He spends the drive home wondering at what point his son's life became unknowable.
Dinner starts awkwardly. Steven barely speaks, but Edward refuses to be quiet. He's a vocal young man, argumentative and strangely principled. They have polar opposite opinions on politics, and while Edward's not shy about his opinions, Richard is more than his equal on the topic. It's the sort of conversation Richard enjoys, trading viewpoints and internalising their differences. The evening ends on a warmer note as both Steven and Edward shake his hand as they leave. Formal. It's only a few steps to the car, but he notes that the boys hold hands nonetheless, as his wife tightly holds his. Middle ground, he thinks. They're not condoning the relationship of course, but accepting it for now. There's time for Steven to come to his senses.
Richard next meets Edward when he has to visit Thatcher's. His driver side tyre has a slow puncture, and although Edward's working on another customer's car he swaps with a colleague so he can see what the issue is. A simple 'he's Stevie's dad' gets him a family discount, and Edward changes the tyre himself when it's deemed too damaged to repair. As he works, Richard learns through his unending monologue that this job is temporary, as Edward's internship at the tattoo parlour doesn't pay, and won't for at least another year, that he needs the money now, as he and Steven are saving for their own place. Richard's immediate instinct is to give them the money himself, but knows it wouldn't be accepted. He takes comfort that Steven's in good hands at least. The Munsons seem to be a practical, friendly people.
Weeks later, when he's back in Hawkins again, he bumps into Edwards uncle, who's insistent on getting coffee and clearing the air. Richard guiltily confesses he's not comfortable with the idea of his son being one of them, that he's not sure he ever will be. Wayne simply points out that at least he's trying, and to keep trying. Apparently Edward's father didn't even do that much. Richard later relays the encounter to his wife, of how overtly proud Wayne is of Edward (my Eddie, he'd said). Richard's not felt proud of Steven for a few years now, only infuriated that he's intent on throwing his life away, but Wayne had plenty of happy stories of him too. As parents, they feel equally guilty and spend the evening drinking and reminiscing on Steven's childhood. It feels like they're reminding themselves of their son more with every day that passes.
He's still in town on the following Tuesday evening, and decides to take Wayne up on his offer and visit the bar that he recommended. He discovers that Edward's a talented musician. Even if it's far too aggressive and loud for Richard's own tastes, there's dedication, commitment and passion in each of the boys on the stage. He remembers his own music idols, how passionately they preached against the war in Vietnam, and he wonders when exactly it was that he stopped noticing the injustices of the world, when it was that his business suits became a comfort instead. He's quickly cornered by Wayne, Jim Hopper and David Jones ('my son's on the drums', he says, proudly). But they're all proud of their boys, he adds, and equally appalled by their music tastes. He goes on to say that the parents take it in turns to keep an eye on the boys each week, after what happened earlier in the year. Richard's in utter shock after hearing that there was a murderer on the loose not long ago, and plans to stay in town more after hearing that both boys were involved. He's clearly out of place and out of touch, but they're kind enough to not mention it. He buys the drinks for the remainder of the night, as penance. He has nothing else to offer, but hopes that's enough to start. His son could have died.
As is habit now, when he's in town, Richard drives past the video store to glimpse his son through the window. Further down the street he catches Edward balancing takeaway coffees whilst trying to open the door to the tattoo parlour. It takes moments to pull over and offer his assistance, and it hurts when Edward is surprised by the gesture. Richard's invited into the shop, and although Edward's busy, 'of course he has time for his father in law'. The phrase knocks him emotionally off balance, but Edward doesn't notice, simply updating him on their house hunt, and inviting them to the house warming, pending Stevie's approval. He shakes Edward's hand when he leaves, and when he turns back to his car, notices Steven quietly watching him from the window of his store. He waves, and after a moment his son waves back. He's alive, and there's hope, at least.
He and Kathleen invite the boys and Wayne over for dinner. He sees Steven smiling in the car as they arrive, and although it's faded by the time Richard opens the door, it returns tenfold when he shakes Edward's hand and greets him with 'hello son'. Richard's still very much uncomfortable (especially with how 'hands on' Edward seems to be) and if he finds himself in the kitchen knocking back a few more drinks than usual then it's his own business. It's worth it at the end of the night, when Steven invites them to their housewarming, and actually seems to want them there. He feels Wayne's approval through their goodbye handshake, and it makes him feel as though he's on the right path.
Jim Hopper lets them in through the front door. It's a small house, clean and characterless, and full of people Richard doesn't know. In the yard, Steven's at the grill with some other boys his age, and Edward is in the middle of the lawn, spinning a curly-haired teenager around like he weighs nothing. They look happy. Settled. Edward spots them first, waves them over and starts introducing them to the other adults. Steven brings them drinks, is beaming behind his sunglasses. (He can't remember the last time Steven smiled at him.) Hours later, when they leave, Edward shakes his hand and thanks them for coming (for trying, but that's unspoken), and Steven hugs him for the first time in so, so long, burying his head in Richard's shoulder like he used to as a child. Kathleen cries on the drive home, and he's not much better, but they're happy tears. He's a slow learner, Kathy too, but they're learning.

as much as i hate uther, i don’t believe him to be homophobic. him and gaius definitely experimented when they were younger. i think it much funnier that uther doesn’t care that merlin’s a boy. yeah sure he’s a little stuck on the class difference (why on earth would arthur go for a servant???). but the thing that really sets him off, has him spitting with rage, is the sorcerer part.
he doesn’t care that his sons gay, he can even excuse the class difference, but he draws the LINE at sorcery

I think something that really irks me about the whole "feminine energy and masculine energy" garbage that gets peddled on TikTok and other platforms is the fact that there's this constant implication that a woman being masculine is a serious error in her that needs to be fixed. Masculine women aren't broken and in need of a supposed masculine man to push them back into their femininity; their masculinity (whatever that means and looks like to them) is a feature of them that doesn't need to be repaired because they were never in error to begin with.

Lol Some homophobe at my college tried to be all Disney channel mean girl on my outfit today. He was like "Why are you dressed like a cottagecore vampire today?" Which was not the vibe I was going for but hey why not I wanted to look like this lmao. Then later on he was like "Oh were did you get your clothes from shien??" Then I replied that I got half of my shit from marshals and then he said "Marshals drip" the only time he complimented me on the fit I had on was when I told him the key necklace I made in like 2 seconds was handmade then he did a small clap. That shit was so embarrassing knowing how the guy would get upset about how people would make fun of his hyper feminine fits due to him being textbook levels queer. I didn't even register that he was being passive aggressive because cottage core vampire? Really? thats the insult you chose? Besides the last time I heard that "were did you get your clothes?" Line was from Idk fucking elementary School bro. Funny thing is he wasn't like this when he asked this egirl where she got her J fashion stuff from (Which was Allie express) by the way. Bro really tried to "humble me" in the most elementary school way possible. I'm sorry but people who bully others while looking like targets themselves are the weakest link especially if you're in college that is next level sad.

my mother decided today was a good day to give me an unprompted passionate speech about how lgbt people are the lowest of the low of society and that she's mortified that they'll 'make their way over to here' and that if they 'come here' (??) then it means our lives and culture will 'fall apart beyond repair' (?)
i am going to kermit my frog

Just followed a bunch of breadcrumbs about a single word: man. Like hear me out, when do we hear characters say man? Why don't we hear Will ever say man? (Especially not to Mike.) My initial thought was man is used platonically. For instance, at the airport when Jonathan and Argyle greet Mike. It's said a lot by Jargyle, but it's also said between other friends, such as Eddie and Dustin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I couldn't think of many events when Mike and Will say this to each other. In fact, I couldn't recall a single time I've heard Will say this to him. This may not mean anything though, because I'm not sure Will has said this to anyone in the party. As for Mike, I could only think of two times he's said this to Will: 1. after it's not my fault you don't like girls fight and 2. at Rinko-Mania.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know what these two events have in common? First of all, they're the only fights we've seen these two have. And they're centered around El. And you know what Mike is around El? Fucking fake. Argyle said it best: a shitty knock off. Mike uses El as his beard and tries to hide behind a facade of being heterosexual. So, I was thinking and why would Mike use this super platonic, friend-zoning word with Will in these two specific instances? Most likely because he's hiding behind this identity and wants to come across as straight and therefore he friend-zones Will. Mike uses man almost passive aggressively, if that makes sense.
In both situations he's being fake. In season 3, Mike is hyper focusing on El, using her as his beard, and trying to hide the fact that he's gay (or bi or whatever) and in love with Will. When Mike arrives in Lenora, he's being fake again. He's upset Will didn't call him back at all. He has most likely realized his feelings for Will and is desperately trying to cover them up. In both situations he's not being himself.
Something else I found interesting was that Mike doesn't call Will "man" unless they're around other people. In the season 3 fight, when Mike and Will are alone, Mike lowers his voice and uses Will's name. However, as soon as he's with Lucas or in public like at Rinko-Mania, he uses "man."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In conclusion, based on what I found, man is a platonic word used in the show. That's why Will doesn't use it with Mike. (Someone please let me know if he uses it with anyone else cuz idk.) And when Mike uses it with Will it's because he's trying to friend-zone him for the purpose of not revealing his own romantic feelings towards him. He uses it to cover up the fact that he's in love with Will. He uses it to hide behind his straight persona. Thanks for reading! Feel free to add onto this.

People who have had mostly het ships often don't seem to realise that you can ship something that you know for a fact won't be canon. The majority of queer ships are like that, because most of them are between main characters and unless something is explicitly marketed as a "Gay Show For Gay People", you're only allowed up to 1 fruity main character, 2 if you're extra super quirky, and they can't be the protagonist.
That being said, if the people shipping it are unobtrusive enough, most passive homophobes will let it slide. You won't catch much heat for shipping Steddie, Ronance or Elmax because we all know that those ships are fanon, even if they're good ass ships. People might clown on you (why can't they just be friends) but on the whole they seem to mostly ignore it.
On the other hand, if you talk about Byler a swarm of angry homophobes will descend on you like enraged bees. If you dare to say "there's a nonzero chance that Byler could be mutual" outside of the Byler Sanctioned Safezones (and often inside them as well), folks will be so quick to go "uuuhhh you do realise mike is straight right??? 🙄🙄"
This isn't just a Byler thing either. The moment people start to actually go from "this queer ship would be cute together in my fanfic" to "what if there's actually a canon backing to it???" the passively homophobic people will start to perceive it as a threat. They lash out because they can't stand the thought that an LGBTQ ship, and LGBTQ people by extension, might steal "their" media from them. "You can have your gay ships as long as they don't get near my straight ships."
People don't get so bothered by the noncanon ships because they aren't a threat to the mostly het canon ships. The fact that the homophobes are so pressed over Byler only indicates that they're scared, but what they fail to realise is that they can't demoralize us by saying it's not canon, because saying "Byler isn't endgame" isn't the same scandal to us as "M!leven isn't endgame" is to them. We'd be extremely pissed off if it's not canon, sure, but most folks here have had queer ships before and a lot of us have been queerbaited before. It wouldn't be a shock, it would be an intense and bitter disappointment.

imagine if nabari no ou had its own subreddit. pretty sure it'd filled with "wait are they actually gay i'm confused" discussions.
most upvoted comment would be "i don't hate gay people, but i think you're stupid if you think any of the characters are queer"

Oh look, we made it into the news! *sigh*
So the thing is, I don't live in Hungary, and I don't keep up too closely with everything the Government does, mostly because it's just depressing and I can't do anything anyway, so I haven't been following this debate since the law passed back in 2021. I DO, however, have distinguished memories about the law asking specifically for brown, non-transparent foil, and also books with gay content aren't allowed to be sold to children, put on display in the shop's window, or just be sold at all within a certain radius of schools and religious institutions.
I don't think that any of this has been started to be enforced yet (I haven't been there in over a year now, but last June, I saw the books of MXTX being sold openly and without extra foil). But if they are starting now, then my prediction is that 1) they will absolutely go through with it, the booksellers have no chance, and 2) they will start to enforce the other parts of the law, too.
This is going to get even uglier than it already is.

it is impossible to describe how fucking evil johnny depp is in a way that sounds remotely believable to people, like there are people in the notes on that post like “had to check this is true because it sounded too absurd” when “selling nfts of the young actor who famously cared deeply for the environment and died on the sidewalk outside your club while you were playing on stage with your shitty band” probably isn’t even in the top ten of straight up fucking evil shit that man has done and that’s just the stuff that’s verifiable public knowledge

i will say sometimes i think if ppl could move past the surface-level of things n admit that rcg can write, esp since they have a team of writers, it would actually make for a lot more nuanced n specific criticisms of Sunny rather than a constant loop of ‘they just suck at their job’ yknow?
