Attention: blood !(as far as possible)
The hard fight is over. With great difficulty the faithful companions managed to reach the commander's consciousness.
Scarlet eyes demanded continuation. Now it was no longer clear whose blood colored the tiefling red - her or the enemies. There was a distinct metallic taste in her mouth. She smiled as if her own wounds and protruding arrows didn't bother her in the least. Such bloodthirstiness and fearlessness scared the people around her every time. How many times had it happened like this?
Taking a breath, the girl brought her thoughts to order, but the achingly familiar call of demon blood still rumbled in Melissa's head.
Kill. Destroy. More blood.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was angry recently, so I drew this quite quickly. I often draw something depending on my mood. A little fact: In a state of rage (similar to berserk), Melissa feels no fear or pain. It's only after the battle that her wounds make themselves known as she calms down. She doesn't know who her ancestor was or why she was born this way, but she is definitely the Demon-Spawn.
... Maybe later I'll add a art of Melissa and Woljif sleeping sweetly. There's not much to translate, just normal everyday life in Drezen. But I really don't know… ///👀///👉👈
A little bit about myself: I'll be participating in a Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous board game in the near future (I was dragged in there, uh... ) If all goes well, I'll be drawing moments from the game. I wanted to try to play Melissa (and die from my cringe), but turned out to be impossible. Our Game-Master explained that the problem was in the backstory. This also prompted me to add something for her lore in the computer game. So... In a way, I'll be drawing an alternate ending for Melissa later. When I have more time. In the board game, she is officially DEAD. And in all other versions, for that matter. It's incredibly frustrating for me. I don't want to think about it. But that's the way it has to be.
Create an even more chaotic tiefling who likes to set things on fire: "LET'S BLOW UP DREZEN!... What do you mean when you say it should be left intact?🗿🗿🗿"

Happy winter solstice, friends! Here’s a new tag game: Your childhood mood board. Just pick nine images that evoke formative aesthetic experiences you had as a child.

Walt Disney’s Fantasia, specifically the very end of the Pastoral Symphony when the thunderstorm ends, night covers the land, and Diana shoots arrows of stars into the sky.
London, where I spent every summer or winter break depending on the year. Particularly this cheesy, kind of jingoistic image of London like from the Spice World movie, and Austin Powers. (I was part of the stunt cast in Goldmember because I could do backflips. Long story.)
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. All of Star Trek was formative, but this film’s aesthetic in particular changed me. I’ll never forgive the fanbase for slandering this masterpiece
The Mars Pathfinder mission! The California Science Center had an interactive exhibit where you could “pilot” the rover and it was so fucking cool
LASERDISCS!!!! My dad was/is a massive audio-visual tech nerd, so our entire movie collection was in this format.
My family’s van: 1996 Plymouth Voyager, with very cool purple paint that glittered in the sunlight
Spaceship One. I went with my dad to watch this thing land after its maiden voyage. Such a fun experience
Roger Dean’s album art, and surrealist album art in general. I loved my Asia CDs, and Yes and Boston and Yanni and so many others.
Shannon Miller, possibly my first crush? I was obsessed with her when I was in gymnastics all through grade school. The aesthetic impact of her giant scrunchies stays with me to this day, lmao.

Week One Group Character Assignment
This next assignment was broken into two parts: creating a character brief; and then following another teams character brief.
This was the brief that Shayla, Peter and myself created for another team:
Tumblr media
And the results of our brief:
Tumblr media
We were then presented this brief:
Tumblr media
Picking a different style each (mobile game, animated, childbook illustration) we then got together and decided how we envisioned this character looking.
I chose to draw our koala in a mobile game style, which is characterized by its simple yet considered form and use of geometric shapes. Because I wanted to make my koala out of shapes I knew I wanted to use Illustrator, which if you have seen my Fundies Tumblr you would know is a program I have previously struggled with. Before going into Illustrator I wanted to have a clear idea of what I was trying to create, so first used Photoshop to create a basic sketch and mood board of my references:
Tumblr media
Once I knew how I wanted my koala to look I went into Illustrator and started blobbing him out in varying circles. The torso was made out of two separate circles that I used the pathfinder tool to combine, and the limbs were made using a similar process to what we did to make our Fundies Penguin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The limbs were made by taking a circle, cutting and then pasting half of the circle and then using Command/Control + J to join the anchor points. I then used the handles on either side to taper this oval until I had the shapes I wanted to use.
Tumblr media
Using the hat as my reference, I locked all my current shapes using Command/Control + 2 and started to draw the sections of the hat using the pen tool. I started with the wider brim of the hat to act as my base, and to allow me to use the pathfinder tool to cut out the other shapes that would form the shadow and lip of the hat.
Tumblr media
I then created the crown of the hat, followed by the back shadow of the hat, using the path finder tool to carve that out from the brim.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because I already battle with Illustrator so much I chose to colour as I went and tweak after so I could more easily visualize what I was trying to do. I used the gradient tool to colour in each section.
I followed same process to create the lift by his ear and also the very top of the hat, using a lighter gradient on top to the left so it would contrast the right of the crown.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To create the face I used circles to form the eyes, the pen tool to draw his eyebrow shapes, and the pen tool to create his nose and mouth - changing the line profile and weight to create the tapering.
Tumblr media
I then went through and added different gradients to each body part, playing around with the gradient angle until I felt like the shadows looked right. It was also during this process I decided I wanted my character to be walking to make his pose feel more dynamic.
Tumblr media
While having both legs behind the body is definitely a stylistic choice, it wasn't the look I was trying to achieve with this koala so I combined my front leg shape and the torso using the pathfinder tool and then readjusted my gradient.
I then went through and added in my ear circle, using the gradient tool again to colour it in. I also decided to outline all my different body parts as well as creating additional lines to outline the ear and underbelly to create more depth. We decided as a team that we wanted our Boris (the hat) to have a piece of straw in his mouth, so I went in with the pen tool to create this changing the line profile to create a tapered appearance.
Tumblr media
Because a part of the brief was making the hat feel battered and old I knew I needed to add some wear and tear. I started by making a square and then deleting anchor points to create a triangle.
Once I had adjusted the triangle to my desired shape I placed it where I wanted the notch and used the pathfinder minus front button to take the notch out.
Tumblr media
Probably my favourite use of the gradient tool on the koala was the gradient I created for his face. I focused it so it would create a subtle shadow underneath the hat while leaving the rest of the face nice and bright.
Tumblr media
After some more finessing with gradients, including a subtle gradient on the nose, I was happy with my Frank the Koala and all that was left to do was collate all three of our koalas together to submit for feedback.

#GLOOMHAVEN ELEMENTS FULL#
#GLOOMHAVEN ELEMENTS PC#
Gloomhaven is, after all, an extremely dense game. Occasionally you will find yourself searching for an element which feels buried - such as the character-specific battle goals for each dungeon - but the search is never tedious or lengthy. One of developer Flaming Fowl Studios’ greatest accomplishments with Gloomhaven’s digital version is its clear and streamlined user interface. It’s so much easier to be enveloped by it all. It doesn’t hurt that these dungeons, with their atmosphere and excellent design, are all the more enjoyable because the digital version removes so much of the busy work of the tabletop game. This is a fundamental shift in how we interact with the environment and it injects a heightened sense of tension. New rooms and enemies are slowly revealed as you encounter them, unlike the board game, which requires you to uncomfortably ignore unexplored areas on the dungeon setup map. This mood pairs wonderfully with an enhanced focus on exploration. Their visuals aren’t particularly striking, but they do create an oppressive atmosphere. Speaking of which: The dungeons themselves are splendid. Gloomhaven’s digital version makes it so much easier to be enveloped by it all You can still modify cards through enhancement, unlock all of the various classes, and accomplish achievements which virtually sticker the digital board.
#GLOOMHAVEN ELEMENTS PC#
While this anguish cannot be captured in the PC version, nearly everything else can. There is a surprising amount of mental anxiety in tearing up an event card or stickering an ability card, permanently altering and in some sense damaging this expensive board game. All of that original material is now included in this digital version, and it’s astonishingly effective. As it embraced “legacy” elements, such as permanently modifying cards by applying stickers, it opened up a new wealth of possibilities in supporting long-term progression. It synthesized influences from both Pandemic Legacy and Dungeons & Dragons to create a new, unified vision. While the popularity of campaign-based board games has certainly grown over the past few years, Gloomhaven was a bit of a pathfinder within its genre. Physically, it’s a beast, chock-full of sealed content for a group of friends to discover over its roughly 40-hour campaign. All of this saves an enormous amount of time and energy, maintaining the momentum as you push through the tidal wave of content on offer.Īnother notable feature of the tabletop game is its scope. Antagonist activations are entirely handled by the game in the background. Time is also saved as players no longer need to assess enemy priorities or adjudicate some of the more sticky situations where targeting isn’t clear. Controlling multiple characters is greatly streamlined - you can flip between party members and examine their many action cards with ease. No time is wasted once the journey has actually begun. The digital adaptation does away with all of the work while still retaining the essential assets. The PC port, however, reduces the process of organizing decks, tokens, and tiles to a quiet moment of loading. While you can also play the board game all by yourself, it’s a burdensome process of managing multiple characters and enemies. This is most apparent when tackling the game as a solitaire experience. The depth and quality of that card-based combat system is extricated wonderfully in the digital version. These include the typical options of moving around the dungeon and attacking a foe, but also special abilities such as the Cragheart’s talent for obliterating terrain, or the Tinkerer’s arsenal of traps. Players select from several classes, each possessing a discrete deck of action cards. The first is a rich, diceless combat system. The end result is marvelous.Īs a tabletop game, Gloomhaven is novel for several reasons.
#GLOOMHAVEN ELEMENTS FULL#
Now, after several years in early access, the full digital game is ready for its final release on PC. Designed and published by Isaac Childres, this cooperative dungeon crawler attained massive success across three separate Kickstarters, including the $13 million sequel Frosthaven. Gloomhaven is no longer just a popular board game.

other than drawing/painting, what are your hobbies?
Boy, that honestly depends on my mood, LOL! I'll just list a few in no particular order! Long post beneath the cut! (You've activated my Trap Card- "TALK ABOUT STUFF I LIKE")
-RPGs! Currently I play Pathfinder 1e and DnD5e but I've played a lot of DnD3.5, NWoD, and Dark Heresy 1e, as well as dabbled in Call of Cthulhu, Numenera, Star Wars: Edge of the Empire and Genesys, and I'm working on getting ready to run Vaessen and Blades in the Dark one shots! Collecting RPGs is kind of a long running hobby with my spouse (@bigdipper24) and I. -Miniature modding/bashing/painting. Both for use at the table and just for fun!
-Board games! My favorite is Betrayal at House on the Hill, but spouse and I also really love Mysterium! We are slowly cultivating a small board game collection!
-Reptile care (not super versed in it but with Sobek, I've been learning!) Someday I'd like to have Leopard Geckos and Garter Snakes (or African House Snakes,) but learning with an Indonesian Blue Tongue Skink has been a lot of fun!
-Resin Dice Pouring. I picked up the hobby because I saw the trajectory of my potential spending just for collecting dice, so I decided to put that money toward resources to make them myself instead!
-Cooking! I love love love cooking and trying new recipes! This week is especially full with new recipes! We're gonna try making Beef Bulgogi, Arepas with homemade salsa and Carnitas, Creole style Jambalaya, Salmon with Apple Fig Chutney, and Etouffee! Yesterday we made Pineapple, Honey, and Clove-glazed ham with mashed potatos and bacon-garlic roasted asparagus!
-Dark History! I go through phases as sometimes it can get too heavy for me, but I'll go on kicks where I just read and research disasters like Titanic, Franklin's Lost Expedition, Mount St Helens, historical serial killers, etc.
-Does my cats? count as a hobby? We're constantly looking for new ways to make our home more friendly and enriching for our three silly boys! My current youtube rabbit hole is Body Language Analysis. I dunno if that counts as a hobby but I've poured a lot of hours into it.
I know there's more but those are the ones off the top of my head!

The Marks We Leave on One Another for the WIP ask! It's such a great title 💛 Can't wait to hear more!
Ah…. This would be the invisible tattoo fic. Aka my Reyes goes feral over missing Scott fic.  I even have a mood board for it. Snippet/prologue beneath the cut.
Tumblr media
The facts didn’t add up.
It was as simple—and complicated—as that. Reyes had refused to believe what he was told without proof as there were too many open ended questions, too many inconsistencies. The notification he’d received from Cora Harper had been devastating but once he learned how few facts they made their conclusions on….
Well the faint glimmer of hope it left he refused to let go of. He’d cling to it until he had definitive proof he could believe in that his Vida was dead.
So what had happened? He hadn’t been there so Reyes had ordered the reports hacked and he’d pulled every resource under his command to bear on answering this one question: where was the human Pathfinder Scott Ryder?
His team was well aware that if he had reasons to suspect the official story they were going to follow his lead—even if he still got some sympathetic looks from those closest to him. Keema began to hover more insistently, her hands seeking his and the pulse of support she sent through it was tender and loving like a mother’s embrace. She did not yet mourn for Scott who she saw as her adopted son-in-law even though there’d never been an official announcement or ceremony to make it legal and binding.
The political realities of the shadow king of Kadara and the human Pathfinder being in a long-term committed relationship was often hid from eyes that would try to set them against one another—namely most of the senior leadership of the Initiative and even other Pathfinders. Sarissa Theris would love to get something as juicy as a scandalous exile for a lover as leverage over Scott given how much dirt Scott had on her.
Which brought up the first.. oddity.
SAM had not transferred by protocol to the next-in-line, Cora. Instead SAM had transferred a significant amount of his computing power to Kadara via the quantum entanglement communicator that Scott had gifted to Reyes on the anniversary of their first meeting at Kralla’s Song. SAM now spoke directly with Reyes, relaying all sorts of interesting information that he’d never would be cleared for in a million years due to his exile status but was now at his fingertips.
The AI was just as suspicious as Reyes—he was just more careful about openly saying so to the Initiative.
Facts that were indisputable were that Scott and his team had been on a mission to try and find the Quarian Ark—the Keelah Si’yah. They’d been on a planet in the Bosavay system when they came under attack from a small cluster of Kett ships. It had been an ambush and the Pathfinder team had been scattered, comm systems down after there was detonation of an EMP device that even temporarily knocked out SAM’s communicator with Scott. When the dust had settled, Scott’s badly burnt body had been retrieved with his face mostly destroyed.
Cora had, out of respect for Scott, personally notified Reyes of Scott’s supposed death.
He’d felt so very, very cold ever since he’d taken that call—which had crystallized in his memory so vividly that it played like a broken tape on loop when he laid down to sleep.
