ganito pala
—ganito pala pakiramdam kapag mag-isa. lahat mararamdaman, lahat ng mga masakit at nakaraan papasok sa isip ng hindi namamalayan.
hanggang sa marealize mo na lumuluha ka na pala.

This is a monument to the US colonization of the Philippines. The US killed at least 200,000 Filipinos in the Philippines-US war and US imperialism until now greatly affects the Philippines. The struggle for liberation of colonized peoples is one. I, for one, welcome this defacement, and would actually like to see it vandalized even more.

Binibining Pilipina Santolan Pasig 2023 Regional Costume: Pakalog Festival Queen
The Pakalog festival is a unique gathering celebrated every 31st of December in the humble Barangay of Santolan Pasig. 'PAKALOG" was derived from a dish that was popularized with the Santoleños back in the day. As the place used to be made up of rice paddies, the people will usually catch fish called "Bulig" and will directly put it in a clay pot. The mixture of the ingredients, the movement, and the noise the fish makes, the term Pakalog ensued. This filipiñana's white pearlescent intricacy is a manifestation of their modern yet simple lifestyle. The tinkering sound by the gown is from the Capis shells, like a musical chant inviting prosperity and abundance for the year about to unfold. Overall, this ensemble is a marriage of modernization, culture, and festivity that every Santoleño should be proud of.

tag spam has always been a problem on tumblr, done by people who think this is instagram or who just want as many eyes on their shit as possible so they tag their shit with #(title) #(character theyre posting) #(ship theyre posting about) #(character they're not posting about) #(ship theyre not posting about) #lol #fandom #cottagecore until the taglist is a mile long. that's kind of understandable considering how much people desperately want engagement. sure, it's annoying each and every time, but understandable. however. deliberately posting irrelevant bullshit into something's tags just to annoy the people who look into it is so petty and stupid, not to mention supremely irritating. if you do this, you're just putting a target on yourself buddy. expect to get blocked or reported for violating TOS with your tag spam.

reading histories on gender in the philippines really only solidifies how intertwined trans and women's liberation is.
"Gender crossers enjoyed a comparatively esteemed status in pre-colonial Philippine society simply because women enjoyed a similar status ... This was the state of affairs when the Spanish arrived. Over the centuries, as the status of women progressively deteriorated, gender crossing in the traditional sense became more and more difficult, with the gender crosser suffering from the ridicule and scorn which only the Spanish brand of medieval Mediterranean machismo could inflict." (J. Neil C. Garcia, Male Homosexuality in the Philippines: a short history)
misogyny and transphobia, in the philippines at least, comes from an imperial context. true trans liberation for the filipino queer would never adapt misogynistic rhetoric, just as true female liberation would never work with trans-exclusive motives. it would also never settle for neoliberal imperialist bullshit.

Binibining Pilipina Angeles City 2023 Regional Costume
Angels play a central role in Angeleño culture. After all, Angeles City is the city of Angels. You see these lovely, playful little statues on churches, in houses' facade, and beside children's beds. Every October, we celebrate Gracia Angeles - the Festival of Angels. It is one of the most obvious manifestations of our fascination with these little guardians.
