Here's the thing, Etho loves Bdubs. He loves him so much that he wants him around all the time in front of everyone on the sever as much as possible. Bdubs loves Etho, obviously, and to him the highest, strongest form of loyalty is secrecy.

In Session 5, Etho felt so much remorse that he decided to be overly nice just for the sake of being nice. This isn't the usual dynamic and Bdubs, while also clearly loving the attention, was deeply unsettled. They welcome him into their base, build him a room, he basically could have left the mounders at this point and never looked back.

*And that's what Etho wanted to happen.*

But Bdubs is undyingly loyal to anyone who gives him attention so he doesn't move into the Roomies alliance; and in session 6 from Etho's perspective you barely see him at all bc he's busy playing chicken with Scar and Impulse.

The whole thing in session 7 could have changed if even moments before being killed he would have run to Etho. But Etho is tired of being the last resort, he loves Bdubs but he'd love it even more if he could have him the whole time and have it not be a plan B or the "when everything falls to shit plan".

Etho has spent basically every season since last life trying to get Bdubs to love him in peaceful seas. But for Bdubs, loyalty is tested when the storm rolls in that's when it's most important to him and that's consistently when he chooses Etho. Any other time for Bdubs is just fun and games and he can't see that the way Etho bids for his attention are Etho's lifelines. So Etho slips away when Bdubs needs him most.

As a disabled myself, Grian making Scar doing the run around paperwork bullshit made me so incredibly upset,,, he already has to deal with insurance and the government irl just let Scar get away with this in game. Everyone else can do the goofy hahah government so ineffective bit. Scar being so hopeful and then his crushed sigh of I hate the government killed me!!!!

Alternately if Scar wants to burn it down I support the fuck out of that!

Being a fan of Etho is like being a scientist whose whole purpose is to study an alien,,, when he called Gem a chihuahua my first reaction was to be like SOMEBODY WRITE THAT DOWN!! HE KNOWS WHAT DOGS ARE!
