Ozark Springs Zoo is happy to announce the opening of a new aquatic exhibit, the Millpond.

This new exhibit winds through a ravine, much like a natural creek. On one side is the Millhouse, a concessions and refreshment building made from salvaged historic materials including a working water wheel. On the other side are “caves” with a set of underwater viewing areas for the featured animals, local freshwater fish. Animals featured in this multispecies exhibit include rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, and alligator gar.

Although newly opened, some features of the Millpond exhibit are still under construction, including a mixed terrestrial-aquatic exhibit at the far end of the installation and an outdoor eating area on the back deck of the Millhouse.

i was watching jerma play spore the other night, and while i know my reaction was unreasonable, i got so mad at how he was making creatures that I redownloaded steam and the game to make critters myself because my brain was like No. He is Doing It Wrong. unreal.

#for context i played the demo when i was like 9 and my mom asked if i liked it and i was like 😶 ye #so she got the disk for it for Christmas that year for me and i played that game an unreasonable amount. i #i even had the ds game. and while it wasnt the same i still loved it #i lost the pamphlet to my disk at aome point so i had to buy it on steam unfortunately #but i got the dlc and im sure i could add mods if my poor laptop tablet thing wasnt already a bit iffy on lowest settings spore #it runs plants vs zombies great tho #i think the reason why i love stuff like pokemon and spore and neopets is because i just have always loved animals #identifying them. knowing facts about them. drawing them. spending time with them even in like zoos #anyways im rambling now but i feel silly but also a little snooty about it now XD #maybe ill post pictures of what i made sometime idk #spore #spore 2008 #also one last thing kf you name a planet on spore ''cheezwizolia'' it will spawn your nest IN ThE OCEan #probably names of planets determine seeds for generation but idk and im not gonna bother looking it up

I need to autistically play the original zoo tycoon again

#if my laptop ran planet zoo better.... and that game didnt have a too complected learning curve at the start....my power #and i cant get zoo tycoon 2 to run at all for some reason. either from same abandoned ware site or other ones it just wont run #but i never looked too far into it #ohhh going through old forums for mods for zt1 from the 2000s... i have thylacines in my game

Luz: Stardew Valley (it’s canon)

Amity: Space Engineers (she has an Abomination mod too)

Hunter: Also Stardew Valley. Luz introduced him to it and he loves the change of pace. It encourages him to slow down.

Willow: Flyer Derby <year>. She loves that she is a playable character!

Gus: Prop Hunt. All the fun Human Artifacts!

Vee: Minecraft. She plays on a server with her old cabin mates (but especially Masha)

King: Backyard Baseball (so he can play catch)

Camilla: Cosmic Frontier for the Super Nintendo. Don’t mess with the classics

Eda: Grand Theft Auto. She has had to go legit now that she runs a school but GTA helps her get her criminal urges out.

Raine: Guitar Hero. They took a week off of work to 100% Through the Fire and Flames on Expert.

Alador: Currently locked in eternal battle with Amity to make the coolest ship in Space Engineers

Darius: Doesn’t care for video games

Collector: Is not allowed near video games after the Pac-Man Incident

Ed and Em: Bully. It’s like they’re back to their old antics!

Boscha: Grudgby <year>. Since all the sports games come out the same day she has gotten used to seeing Willow at the midnight launches.

Tiny Nose: Surgeon Simulator (she went to medical school)

Viney: Planet Zoo. She has a Beastkeeping mod for it too!

Skara: Guitar Hero (trying to beat Raine’s records and failing)

Modern Video Games:

PaleoPines is objectively fun

Jurassic World Evolution 2 is surprisingly good (and accuracy mods are a must)

Prehistoric Kingdom has a problematic past (but it's not like the other two don't), but it's shaping up to be a great game too (it's still in progress)

If we're including birds, which of course we should, Planet Zoo is... well, there are more birds now then there used to be. And mods add even more!!! I'm big on modding games what can I say.

Holotype is GREAT. I mean, it's basically a "my job" simulator so I can't play it all the time, but it's great

Fossilis is this great little obscure game that my spouse and I have fun with, it's kind of like holotype but different, it's fun

Puzzles and Toys:

EUGYS ARE AMAZING -> GET EUGYS NOW. NOW NOW NOW. EUGYYYYYSSSS

The Wingspan Puzzles are also fun

Safari has the best dinosaur toys

CreativeBeast has had... ethical issues. but the toys are cool.

I've kind of gone off on a Planet Zoo kick (sorry not sorry) but I'm also still screwing around with this experimental save, so have a strategically cropped and photoshopped-out-the-wazoo pic of one of the residents of it having a bath.

He didn't start out as a fairy. One of the things I'm doing in this save is sort of replicating a favorite mod that I had in TS2, where alien abduction had a chance of turning a sim into an occult. This guy (the population is all male because Reasons™) got fairy'ed. :)

What Video Games I think Jigsaw and the Apprentices would play

Adam - Grand Theft Auto series. He regularly plays GTA Online with Amanda (he is better skilled at driving and Amanda is more skilled at shooting). Sometimes he convinces Lawrence to join. Adam switches between Michael and Franklin when in story mode the most. Adam likes using mods, ReShade and taking far too many screenshots.

Lawrence - Animal Crossing: New Horizons. After a tough day at work and knowing what John does, I doubt Lawrence is big into violent video games. Even then, video games aren't his thing. He only picked up AC:NH cause he likes the cozy vibes. Sometimes, when Diana misses him, he visits her island and they hang out together.

Amanda - DOOM Eternal and the Hitman series. This is the reason she's a sharp shooter in GTA. She loves DOOM and Hitman cause you get to shoot up bad guys to awesome music while bettering the world. Also, she loves doing wacky challenges with the Hitman games (kill everyone while wearing a clown suit also her only weapon is a giant tuna fish).

Lynn - Nintendogs and Cats for the 3DS. She got it originally for Corbette but became infatuated with it herself. It's part of the reason she really wants to get a pet. She got Amanda a 3DS and forced her to make a Mii so that when Lynn takes her virtual pet for a walk she sometimes stumbles into Amanda.

Peter - Hitman series, Metal Gear series and Detective Grimoire series. Peter has always loved media about detectives and stealth and shit. Where Amanda is silly with Hitman, Peter is dead serious. Metal Gear was the series he played as a kid, and Detective Grimoire was just a random flash game he found one day and became shocked to learn it had its own series of video games.

Mark - Party Hard, Dead by Daylight, GTA 5 and Outlast. Mark likes games where he plays as a killer, much to everyone else's concern. He plays mainly as Trevor in GTA 5. He mains Leatherface in Dead by Daylight. He mains them both cause they are both "berserk psychos with crazy weapons".

John - Pokemon, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and The Sims. John doesn't like violent video games. Period. In Pokemon, he usually sticks to Pokemon that look like cats and dogs. His favourite AC villager is Sprinkles, and he cries whenever one of his Sims dies.

Jill - Like Lawrence, she's not a big video game person. However, Corbette and Diana have both convinced her to play games with them. As their adoptive grandma, she obliges. She prefers stuff like Wii Sports, Wii Fit and Wii Sports Resort. Just cause it's nice, chill and casual.

BONUS: THE KIDS

Diana - Love Nikki, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Untitled Goose Game. She likes being creative and causing chaos. Her favourite AC villager is Sable. She loves dressing Nikki up into fantasy princesses (but has also done like rockstar criminals). She likes Untitled Goose Game cause "look at the silly goose".

Corbette - Star Stable, Littlest Pet Shop (DS), Zoo Tycoon, Planet Zoo, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Pokemon etc. She really loves animals. Ever since her brother's death, she collects plushies and it was what spawned her love of animals and creatures. She has also played Nintendogs and Cats (3DS) and Breath of the Wild.

Jeremiah Litten and his wife, Cornelia, first cleared the Stonebend Property between 1820 and 1840. Their eldest daughter, Virginia, and her husband, Amos Townsend, began construction on a stone house for themselves further down the valley. Harsh snows in the winter of 1858-59 cut Stonebend Valley off from the nearest towns. When the snows melted, the Littens failed to make their weekly journey in.

An investigative party journeyed up to the valley February 23rd, 1859. They found the houses well supplied and in good order, but the owners were nowhere to be seen. There were no signs of a struggle, no tracks, and no bodies.The Littens and Amos Townsend were never seen again.

The Stonebend Property became infamous in town. The mystery scared any would-be homesteaders away, and so the valley returned to the forest.

I hate that Prehistoric Kingdom and Zoo Planet need a NASA supercomputer to run, I would love a Zoo Tycoon style game in the style of the original, with full modding to add new animals and the dynamics of natural reserve managing instead of zoos (so you would also interact with the whole ecology including flora and people)

I'm a 30 y/o Australian cisgender gal, though I originally came from New Zealand. I'm neurodiverse (the Autism/ADHD combo) and I consider myself to be disabled, Lesbian and femme-aligned NB (though I'd say autigender if I'm gonna split hairs, non-binary is just easier). I'm still figuring out where I am in terms of Lesbian identity (late bloomer over here) but if I were to hazard a guess it'd be soft butch/chapstick-lesbian/stem? I'll get back to you on that one, lol.

I'm pretty creative, I dabble in digital art and sometimes photography, both real and virtual and I've been writing fiction stories since I was a kid who was obsessed with books (though I tend to read more fanfic these days, oops). I like to write original fiction but I tend to get way too into the world building side of things, I like figuring out the setting and lore, environment etc. (I'd probably make a good DM, ngl) Outside that I do think I have a missed calling as a tattoo artist that I probably won't get to fulfil in this lifetime, so instead I design them for characters and make OC tattoo mods for videogames. I'd love to get more tattoos irl!

I am a big Gamer Girl(TM), I orignally was studying in game design before life shit got in the way of that. I find game systems really interesting, and do get a kick out of figuring out how they work - so modding has kind of been a natural evolution of this - you can check out what I've been messing around with under #my modding. My preferred platform is PC, I know how to build them (though I rarely get to) but recently upgraded my PC to be a souped up bonus room heater with funky lights so I can do more shit with 3D art (and gaming stuff ofc is a bonus lol).

i think gundham is a zoo tycoon/planet zoo girlie except he plays it like. extremely fucking seriously. yes he occasionally indulges in letting t rexes eat people, but most of the time he mods it to shit so he can make extremely realistic habitats that have no optimization for guest viewing whatsoever, valuing animal comfort above all else and entirely ignoring the point of the game. in planet zoo he's the kind of motherfucker who's putting all 100% stat max appeal animals on the auction house. they're completely natural. he just has been breeding them for like 500 in-game years. when you look at the zoos they come from they're built like wildlife reserves. all the guest areas are completely barren and minimalist. every animal is at 100% happiness. somehow he has completely dodged the animal mill meta and has produced extremely high quality animals while also spending money on max level food. every page of the auction house is all animals from gundham. every single one. he prices them extremely high because he doesn't want them to go to places they will not be adequately appreciated. he has it on an extremely expensive gaming laptop so he can take it with him because he has very little time sitting at home. he's sitting in a fucking barn holding the laptop up trying to get connection. he is ten feet away from the world's only chill captive pangolin. he's been banned from the frontier forums repeatedly because he keeps making posts about how they shouldnt include polar bears in their roster for a zoo because it's inhumane to keep a polar bear in captivity, and the buffs to the requirements to it weren't enough. making a walk-through bat exhibit is a terrible idea. the aggression system in herd animals doesn't make any sense. the moderators keep trying to tell him it's a video game. he gets very upset

I downloaded some fish mods for Planet Zoo to have in with my hippos and my otters and despite checking that they were compatible IDK what happened but the fish ATE the otters.
