It’s been months I’m trying to find out what’s going on with me. I got diagnosed with adenomyosis. I’m actively bleeding. I’m actively symptomatic.

I honestly feel like the doctors in my family. Don’t understand how much I am not OK. I went to the ER last night to try to see if they would see me and obviously my shortness of breath and my active bleeding was enough flag to get me in.

I message my primary care doctor and try to reschedule my OB appointment for sooner.

I’m living life with a low blood levels. I’m dizzy. I’m filling up pads quickly maybe about 4 to 5 diapers a day but I feel like crap. I’ve never felt so pale so out of it.

I’m questioning myself if I should just get a hysterectomy at this pointB if it’s even worth it.

As I’m sitting here at the Social Security office dropping off my grandma I realize that even with all my issues my family stop expect me to do all this crap for them.

I’m so tired.

My head is killing me, im on a hiking vacation, and the friend im here with said she doesnt want to be around me if i legally smoke here. And i really dont think its fair of her to basically tell me I can either medicate and be by myself most likely at random times like at night or id have to wake up earlier then we already are since we have a lot of busy days, or suffer with both withdrawal and my mental illnesses that would both be doing just fine if i could smoke. HOW TO FIX YOUR CC DOORS AND WINDOWS by Xineas

**NOTE: This is a tutorial written by my wonderful husband who got tired of hearing me complain about the broken CC windows and figured out how to fix them. Feel free to share this around. I am hoping for a batch fix but in the meanwhile, if you can calculate, you can fix the windows yourself. If you have questions, feel free to send me an ask and we will get back to you.**

The issue:

EA added a "ModelResourceCutout" item for every object that needs to cut out a piece of wall to show up correctly. The actual object is actually there, you can see the door handles in the example picture above. (beautiful doors by @peacemaker-ic​ )

The Sims4Studio developer is working hard to get a batch fix working so the creators don't have to manually add the correct values for each item, but it's unsure when this'll be ready and if it will fix all windows and doors. Some are quite eccentric from a shape perspective, meaning ROUND, CURVED or otherwise not a rectangle.

All that is needed is a bit of math and a bunch of trial and error. Oh, and patience is useful. I'm warning you, doing this 40 times over is tedious, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy. You just need to do a bit of basic math and to be able to think in 2 dimensional space.

The math

There are three height variants when it comes to walls. Short = 3 units high Medium = 4 units high Tall = 5 units high

Regular walls are 1 unit wide, diagonal walls are Sqrt(2) wide (Pythagorean theorem), which is 1,414. When making these cutouts, 1 decimal place accuracy is generally plenty. The frames of the doors and windows give you a little wiggle room. When you are making more interesting shapes, use 2 or 3 decimal places to give yourself a bit more accuracy.

Let's apply this magic to a real world example. EA wants you to add an item called "ModelCutoutResource" item to your object, which consists of any given number of lines in a 2D plane. Remember, this is a 2 dimensional cutout, depth is nonexistent, it just cuts out the whole wall, wherever we tell it to by connecting the dots. 

Each line consists of two points, a start and an end. I could tell you how to do it all day long, but doing it and getting it are more important. On to the example. This door with it's entire frame is 2 units wide and about 2.4 units high. You want your cutout to be IN THE FRAME, however. If you put your cutout at the outside edge, you will have an ugly gap on the sides of the frame an nobody wants that. So guesstimate (or extract from Blender, but I have no 3D modeling knowledge so will not go into that) the correct values, place your objects in game on a blank wall, look at them from the side and put a ruler to your screen if that makes your life easier. 

With our door here we need to make a rectangular cutout. This is easy, just 4 points to define. The points do in fact have a third value (x,y,z) but the z-value is always 0. Perhaps EA has wild plans with this in the future, but for now every single z-value is 0.

Using our gathered knowledge, we can now define 4 clear edges for our door. I always start bottom left, it's a habit, it doesn't matter, as long as you make a loop with your lines.

Your lines will now be as follows:

A to B, B to C, C to D and D to A. Let's put this into Sims 4 Studio.

Editing the package:

Open your package in Sims 4 Studio.

Select the Warehouse tab.

Select the Model item (don't do anything with it, just click it, this way S4S knows the "Instance" value and you don't have to copy-paste it)

Click the ADD button bottom left.

Select the type ModelCutoutResource, check that the Instance is the same as your Model and smash the OK button. You will now have a new Resource called "ModelCutoutResource", all the way at the bottom. So scroll down and click it. ;) You will see "Edges", which we'll be adding soon. But first, very important, your cutout will not work if this is not set correctly..... Set "Version" from 00000000 to 00000001.

Now click the "Edit items..." button so we can add the edges with our previously done math.

For objects that are rectangle, just click the add button 4 times, then we can fill them in.

Each "Edge" has a PointA and PointB, which I've shown in the image below for A, B, C and D.

We can now fill in the values.

Make sure to destinguish commas and periods. Very important. Periods are used for decimal values, commas are used to separate values. Click Save. Then click Save again.

If you have multiple doors/windows that are the exact same shape, LUCKY YOU, click the export button to export your "ModelCutoutResource" resource and save it as a binary. This way you don't have to keep entering tedious coordinates into PointA and PointB. On your next door/window you can then select Model, add the ModelCutoutResource, select it and then click the import button to import your previously exported binary. This way you can skip all the other steps and make your life easy.

CHECK AGAIN: - "Instance" value is the same for Model and ModelCutoutResource - "Version" of your ModelCutoutResource is set to 00000001 and NOT 00000000

Test it in-game:

Did you do it correctly? Check it in game. When I fix a set for my wife's simblr, I usually first place all items in my game, then scribble some calculations on a piece of paper, then edit the packages and then check in game at the end. Then you can do some minor adjustments if necessary and fix those before doing a final inspection.

Once you get the hang of it, it is easy. You get a feeling quite quickly for which numbers make sense and which don't. Plus, if you do it wrong, it will just show you a weird cutout in the game and you learn from it.

Now on to the more interesting objects, curves and circles:

Windows, doors and arches which have curves are no different, they just have more points and thus more lines/edges you need to connect to make a loop. You can even make two loops if your window or door needs two cutouts.

For these more 'advanced' cutouts, it does help if you have at least some knowledge of Trigonometry. It certainly makes your life easier if you're going to attempt this. I studied in Uni to become a Maths teacher, so that's clearly an advantage. You at least need to understand how to find out points on a circle to make arches.

Alternatively, you can export the coordinates from Blender, but that's not my cup of tea.

I'll make a separate tutorial on round or arched cutouts.

okay so. @cady-nighthorse​ we had a comment chat yesterday and it gave me Thoughts and now I don’t even know this is just a long spew of related Longmire word-vomit and my apologies but writing it actually helped me work through some points for my fic, so. here?

I’m working through some of my s6 issues and your comment:

That “dash of something I never really decided on” is exactly where I’ve always been stuck, too. The Incident when she attacks Jacob is dumb and extreme and I hate it but it’s also not......... totally out of character, maybe? Or like it is out of character in the sense that people sometimes do intensely stupid things when they’re upset, but it isn’t in the sense that I feel like the argument can be made for it happening if you combine the elements of 1) deep panic/fear over Henry being hurt and nearly killed 2) Walt being wildly fucking manipulative and capitalizing on that fear and 3) intense betrayal at the (mistaken) belief that Jacob, who she has genuinely started to trust and care about, would do something so heinous (to anyone, but especially to someone she loves). She literally screams “I trusted you” while she’s beating on him. That entire exchange isn’t “I don’t give a shit about this guy and I want revenge” it’s “I went out on a limb and looked past all of the bad things I’ve always been told about this person because that’s not what I see when I look at him, but it turns out I was wrong and I’m so hurt over it.” She never would have done that to like, Malachi or Darius because there’s no betrayal there.

So to me it first gets super weird and clunky when she goes to apologize to Jacob and just... doesn’t seem that sorry? (And also how long it takes her to go apologize at all it’s like a week within the show's timeline) And I guess that could theoretically be chalked up to her being embarrassed/ashamed/uncomfortable, but this is the same person who a week or two prior went to his house on her own time to warn him that she’s worried about what Walt might do to him; she knows how to navigate uncomfortable situations. How did we get from having enough concern to want to look out for him, all the way to bare-minimum stilted apologies and favor-requesting? That scene just ends up coming off as her only apologizing because she needs him to do something for her (give a good testimony in court), which is really fucking heartbreaking when you view it from Jacob’s perspective and also not at all who we’ve known Cady to be as a person up to that point. 

And then she asks him for another favor at the council meeting and I swear to god you can actually see part of him dying inside because he was wrong about her, she’s turned out to be just like everybody else in his life who just take and take and take things from him.

So where I’ve landed with s6!Cady is to just... ignore most of it because it doesn’t make any sense? I think that “dash of something” is just bad writing? The conclusion I’ve come to is that the show-runners/writers/whoever needed to get from PointA to PointB and didn’t have the time or interest to do it organically.***

PointA being “I’m a lawyer, I want to be an advocate for the people on the Res, I still have a decent amount of optimism/idealism, and I have (at minimum) a comfortable professional partnership with Jacob Nighthorse”

and PointB being “Being a lawyer isn’t for me, Res life is too different/difficult for me to understand, why should I bother trying to change anything when it’s this hard, and ‘fuck that guy’ (derogatory).”

To get to PointB quickly they just... had her do a bunch of objectively shitty things in order to undo whatever they needed to from earlier seasons. And the only real reasoning I can find for the need to get to PointB at all, is Walt. They wanted Walt to retire at the end (which makes sense for the series) and the only way they could conceive of him being able to do that is to pass the sheriff reigns on to Cady (which does not make sense for the series or for her character based on what we’ve been presented with up to this point). The only way Cady could be in a position to be running sheriff is if all the stuff that was so important to her at the end of s5 was gone.

Literally the entire run of the show had been about Walt learning to let go and move on. How is only being able to retire when you pass things on to your daughter (who, again, up until this point has shown zero fucking interest in any of it by the way) letting go? Letting go is accepting that you can’t control everything and that it isn’t your responsibility to maintain the security and balance fo the county forever. Letting go is saying, “I’m at a point in my life where this isn’t right for me anymore and so I just need to let the chips fall where they may.”

IN CONCLUSION:

Cady deserved better.

       ***Or this was the series conclusion plan all along in which case #yikes. 

Because an alternate theory I have (which I hate) is that the plan all along actually was to have Jacob and Cady kind of explode/devolve in this way BUT that the show-runners didn’t expect them to ~vibe~ the way that they did in s5. Which is objectively kind of hilarious and I think actually possible because the two of them had never even been in a scene together before the two(?) at the end of s4. 

So the show-runners are chugging along during the break writing s5 like “Ah yes, we shall create this division between Walt and Cady and then, woefully devoid of a father figure Henry doesn’t exist apparently and spending so much time with Jacob (who is both A Male Human and also Older Than Her), Cady will clearly default to feelings of, 'Is this a dad?' and will be caught between the two of them and her desperate need for someone paternal! Brilliant!” 

But then they start filming s5, and Cassidy Freeman and A Martinez roll up with their fucking faces and their mostly heretofore-unseen acting chemistry and everyone’s just like, “Oh no.” 

But then they didn’t?? adapt?? the story????? Or direct the two of them to maybe stop doing that with their faces? There’s no way that zero people working on the show from directors to editors to the actors themselves didn’t see it there’s no way. They just......... let them proceed for an entire season as if none of us were going to notice?? Knowing full well they were going to tank it in the most inorganic way possible? It’s irresponsible and also illegal.

Let them fuck, you absolute cowards.
