Originally was intending to design her for my recent star guardian au (in my deranged brain dimension that loves crossovers, She and Jhin League of Legends are cousins) that's been cropping up on the blog, but I'm not entirely sure if she feels too special for a 'magical girl family member' role? If I do decide to try another tackle to try fitting her into the role better I could make this a outfit for a more pokemon-centered au

Natsume week, day 6: Travel

Pokemon AU, specifically a Hisui one, cause I've had this in my wips for ages and the story of legends arceus definitely fits the 'travel' prompt. I've had the idea for a pokemon AU for ages but could never figure out a good pokemon to represent madara, until I played legends arceus and saw Hisuian Zoroark, and immediately I knew I had to make a Hisui AU. The more historical setting and the 'wilder' pokemon fits the vibe of natsuyuu better too tbh

I also posted a timelapse of this to my patreon if ppl are interested!

Story wise, Natsume would probably be the grandson of the first person to fall through the rift several decades ago, and has drifted from town to town after his parents died due to people's scepticism of Reiko and their families' stronger connection to pokemon. Eventually he ends up in yatsuhara tho and gets taken in by the Fujiwaras, and ends up joining the survey corps with Taki and Tanuma to learn more about pokemon. Taki's grandfather started the survey corps, but passed away recently so now Taki is carrying in his footsteps. Tanuma wants to learn more about pokemon but doesn't have a lot of experience with them, the only one he's been able to tame is a single magikarp.

Natori and Matoba would be the Diamond and Pearl clans obviously but I haven't figured out what pokemon they'd have so I didn't draw them lol

Day Seven: Handmade / Non-traditional Media

This wooden standee is something I made earlier this year using a laser at a university lab!

I took the official art, edited it some, and rearranged Natsume, Nyanko, and the logo so I could cut out the pieces (with the laser) and put it together.

It didn't quite turn out the way I intended; there are too many lines on Nyanko and the lines that were supposed to be on Natsume weren't done, but how Nyanko-sensei is floating behind Natsume turned out exactly how I wanted it to

"You are looking for Sabrina," a new voice says. "Hello, Champion."

A sharp intake of breath from Maria. "Who—"

"I work at the gym. All those who do possess some degree of psychic power." The newcomer pauses. "Perhaps more importantly, we were told to await you. Though Sabrina has known of your coming since before you ever came to this world."

"I... see. Would she happen to be—"

"The gym was not opened today," she continues, "for all the psychic abilities in the world cannot prevent the common cold."

"Ah. My condolences."

"It cannot be helped." The woman pauses. "Sabrina foresaw your coming, but not your name. What might it be?"

"Maria." She breathes out slowly. "Nothing more, nothing less—save, I suppose, for being this region's Champion."

"If not in name yet, certainly in deed." The other woman hums to herself. "Natsume. The gym may be closed, and I prefer not to battle when I do not have to... but I'm curious about you, Maria. Humor me."

I recently remembered the original Pokemon anime episode where Natsume (Sabrina for the English Dub) fought using esper powers. I remember it being creepy when I was a kid, but was surprised by how tame the mini arc was when I saw it in preparation for this drawing. Even the way they defeated her was not what I remembered. Having said that, a esper battling with psychic and ghost Pokemons is a pretty cool idea. While looking for reference photos, i quite liked all her outfits, but to fit her having Haunter I decided to go with her anime clothes. I tried to make it as though they have psychic aura around them, but I wonder if that was conveyed.
