WHAT IS THIS AU? HOW DOES IT WORK?

A brief (I'm lying, this is a long post) explanation post for this AU for anyone new <3

As I've mentioned before, this AU is based on the theory that Papyrus is (was) Gaster. I did not create this theory, it has existed for a long time as far as I know and I'm also not the first person to do something like this with the concept, I'll touch up on that later.

About the Papyrus is Gaster theory

I've looked up a lot of stuff about it but I don't actually know where it originated. It's not super popular but if you're a Papyrus theorist you might have heard of it before.

It's not a super serious theory really, it's more about pointing out the weird connections and similarities between Papyrus and Gaster and giving an explanation to the many weird things about Papyrus and his lack of backstory.

Just to mention some things:

Them both speaking in capital letters, having no asterisks, their weird way of phrasing things, Papyrus being described as forgettable, Papyrus hating hotland, pretending he doesn't know about a lot of stuff ( The lab for example, he know what a lab is but pretends he doesn't in front of Sans), Gaster being related to hands and Papyrus never taking his gloves off, Papyrus weird connection with phones (his photo-graphic memory for phone calls) and Gaster's weird connection to phones also(Fun events related to phones, using the phone in the darkworlds and only getting Gaster's garbage sounds), their love for puzzles (The CORE is a giant puzzle), THAT one quote that I still find misterious “beside, it’s rude to talk about people that are listening, right? not everyone is as though as my brother”, Papyrus DOES have Gaster blasters it's pretty much canon even if a lot of people ignore it, Papyrus is very very smart he has a LOT of books, knowledge on many subjects, building stuff, and even made a shakespeare reference when he died (why is he like this lmao), he's the character with the most dialogue in game yet we don't know a lot of stuff about him, he breaks the laws of physics and of the game, he's not in deltarune the heavily Gaster connected game.

Now that's some of the things I could think about, and look, yeah I'm probably looking too much into it and these are all just coincidences and the weird Papyrus things are related to other stuff maybe not Gaster. But I still like this theory, not because I think it's real but because I LOVE the possibilites!!!

About how this AU works

Okay, so this au is basically a -pretend this theory is real and how would the undertale timeline work then!- We're giving Papyrus his backstory and I'm also making a Gaster focused story at the same time.

I will adapt basically how I think a situations like this would play out (and also add some of my other favorite ut theories as a treat)

Papyrus used to be Wingdings and then Wingdings shattered across time and space, Papyrus and Gaster are different separate people.

Actually I kind of, treat WIngdings before and after accident as different people also... you change a lot when you become an omnipresent being. So, Wingdings, Gaster and Papyrus I treat them all as different people.

"How did Gaster become Papyrus?"

He didn't "become" Papyrus just like that. After he shattered he stopped existing like he was before, he became a being in another layer of the game but physically his body was just there

I based this on how the goners and Gaster followers have counterparts that are not, uh, goners that look different or deformed and gray

Papyrus was just kind af an empty shell at first, he still kept parts of Wingdings original personality but his Papyrus personality developed on his own with time!

"How did Gaster shatter across time and space?"

Usually everyone agrees it was because he fell into the CORE

Not here! I don't think the CORE caused his accident, it is a power source not a time and space altering machine. In this story it was some other thing he was working on, and it wasn't so much of an accident per se

I've seen some people tell me this is a good idea for an AU and I agree!! I love this idea so much, but as I said before I didn't create this concept or theory I just love it a lot!! and was desperate for content wich I surprisingly did not found much of

I was so surprised, I really thought there would be more people that made this before but I couldn't find much, so I'm just making it myself and one of my goals is to maybe make other people like this idea and make their own takes on it !! cause i think it's neat and would love more perspectives and content

It's because of this comic that I discovered that theory in the first place and really loved the concept. It's my main inspiration, unfortunately the comic is unfinished. If you see it you will definitely see how I took inspiration... Still my story and this au is a different take on the theory, it goes on a different path.

You should watch Jack vs. Webtoons video on Lore Olympus before it gets wrongfully taken down.

His video pointed out something I wasn’t able to put into words until now. Lore Olympus has a real bad dialect problem. One second the characters are talking like they’re in a Shakespeare play which makes sense, sense they’re gods or what not. The next second you’ll have characters saying shit like “blue balls” “clout chaser” and “you’ve got a young wife with a fat ass”. It probably wouldn’t bother me if certain people talked a certain way like how Hera doesn’t use any slang and how Hermes uses some but all the characters vocabulary are the exact same.

Honestly I can look past the art and it’s inconsistencies but having dialect jump from regal to tiktok facebook slang makes my brain hurt more than glossy lipped Hades and bug eyed Persephone.

I checked it out, it's pretty great haha and yesss this is something that's been discussed before but I haven't really ever made a post about, the dialogue is CONSTANTLY flip-flopping between royal talk and "hello fellow teens" quipping. Sometimes it feels like it's trying to be like Marvel and then other times it feels like it's trying to be Bridgerton. I can think of no better example than all of the "pedigree" talk, it makes me squirm every time I read it because in the modern context of LO, it SCREAMS eugenics. The whole B-grade goddess thing made sense, until they started talking about Persephone like a poodle:

But then you ALSO get INCREDIBLY stiff dialogue that makes it seem like the comic is either being written by AI or Rachel is actually a real life version of Michael Afton post-scoop:

And yes, there is a tinfoil hat theory that LO is being written by bots at this point because I don't know how a single person could write something so tonally confused. That said, I do think the more reasonable explanation is that Rachel is likely copying dialogue from shows and movies she's watching and just tweaking it slightly before slapping it into LO. She's not observing why the dialogue works in the media she likes, she just knows she likes it and slaps it in there without any regard for context, tone of voice, or personality.

And that leads to, as you said, all the characters sounding the exact same, and that metric by which they all sound the same changes all the time. I think at this point the only reason we haven't seen Hera dropping TikTok language is because she hasn't been onscreen long enough for her to get the chance LMAO That said, we've definitely gotten some weird inconsistent dialogue with Hera as well:

(like she's essentially saying the exact same thing across both of these panels but one is being said by an adult and the other is being said by a teenager lmao)

I think the dialogue is definitely one of the most glaring issues with LO, among all of its other problems. It just never feels like it's being written by a human, there are problems with this even as far back as S1 but it's become especially apparent in S2 onwards.

To finish off this ask, here's one of my favorite dialogue mishaps in the entire series, from S1, in which Apollo literally adopts an askew English accent:

I really, really want to, because comments make me SO SO SO happy, and I occasionally have some wonderful people who go through and comment on every single thing I've written which is the DREAM -- but I don't always have the mental bandwidth to do it. So let me just say right now that if you've ever left a comment I have read it, and I loved it, and you made my day better.

6-What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Uhhhh .... there are a lot. People can cast their votes on this one, but I'd say maybe Ambrosia or Don't Flinch?

7-What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I had to leave THG for this one, lol. But I think Impossible Magic, which is a fix-it for the Enchanted Forest Chronicles that solves something that bugged me about a series I otherwise adore.

8-Do you get hate on fics?

the real ones will remember, lol. I had one specific reader who would leave, like, novel-length comments on every single chapter of every single fic about everything he hated / disagreed with. My favourite was the list of my D2 victors in order of who he hoped would get killed off from most to least (Petra was at the top and Emory was at the bottom SORRY MAN). I honestly don't know why he was still reading if everything annoyed him so much, lmao.

If ever I get a mean anon I delete it though. You won't catch me responding to anon hate.

9-Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Not....... really. I write sex in very specific situations but it's usually to serve a purpose and I'm kind of ... vague about it, even when I think I'm being explicit (for me). I'm sure people could pick out sex written by me pretty easily. It's not exactly fade to black because that implies skipping to later, this is more like ... elisions, I guess.

10-Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Very famously, yes. I'm not sure what I'd consider the weirdest one. Temeraire / THG victors as dragons? Watership Down / THG rabbits?

11-Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Fanfic, no, I don't think so, but I have had original stories stolen and put up on Amazon. It's the reason I took down my FictionPress account and have all my original things locked on LJ / DW.

Never say never???? But sadly, probably the Portal/Emory's Games crossover if only because all the notes on the super complicated Arena were on a computer that died and I don't remember anything

16-What are your writing strengths?

Character and feelings, babeyyyyy. Also my hallmark is making people care (or at least think) about characters they absolutely despised before

17-What are your writing weaknesses?

Plot is hard. Every time I think I've done something complicated I'll read a book by someone with an actual intricate plot and need to lie down for 500 hours

Nah. Generally I use dialogue tags to tell the reader what language is being spoken

Star Wars, when I was 12, though it was just me and my bff. Dragon Ball Z was the first time I actually realized fandom was a Thing

oof here we go second fanfic ever, i loved the support i got from the first one and honestly i was confused and inspired (sorry if my writing sucks :] but im taking advice and using ,'s also this took me a week to write lol) also its a little head cannon of mine but i feel like Alastor would actually really like Shakespeare idfk

i hate to say it but mimzy was right, put on some jazz and pour some rye and alastor becomes a kitten, so i did just that. when husk left he was my only cover from mimzy so i was stuck with her. all she talked about was either alastor and her "amazing dancing skills" 'yeah right, yesh talk about self centred' it was so obvious she liked alastor more than a friend but t did apreaciate the tips even if she didnt know we were a thing, the whole loan shark situation clearly was the last straw for alastor especially after lucifers whole uh well "fight", he claimed to have to let off some steam with the loan sharks but i could see right through him, although i secretly cheered when alastor told mimzy to leave the hotel the irritation was clear on alastors face his smile seeming off and so with my newly learned information to use i turn to husk he seemed shaken as well.

"yo husk you wouldn't happen to have a full bottle of rye?"

he looked at me one eyebrow raised and turned around to a locked box with a padlock and everything from under the counter 'the fuck'.

"i know you and al are uh whatever the fuck you are but j-just don't tell him i gave this to you because well hell probably make me pay in some way"

"oh, okay then no problem i wont say a thing"

Husk handed me the bottle 'oh shit okay then he really loves ....' i turn the bottle to read the label, it said straight whiskey 'ah that makes so much sense, okay' i slowly nod at husk as he opened two more bottles 'oh shit that bad okay then' i gave him an awkward salute and walked off the bottle in hand, i headed to my room to grab a blanket and my speaker thing to play jazz/electro swing from my playlist with some of my favourites on there, after todays events i knew that he would need a drink and i wanted to save husk some trouble and ya know spend time with al. so i got to work setting up i had the only spare key to his private study and i thought that the swampy area would look nice, i brought a black and red plaid picnic blanket from my room to put on the ground using random rocks to keep the corners in place i found a short stool it was wooden and looked right at home in this room the deer accents on the legs added a nice touch i used that to place a candle, it said it was "black cherry" on the label 'that name isn't really fitting the candle its red, but it certainty dose smell like cherries' i placed it onto the wooden surface i stood up and walked towards the wooden side of the room looking back at my small display and smiled 'not as shit as i thought it would look, improvement !' i looked around the room and found some glasses they were cool looking 'oooo fancy' i set onto the stool along with the untouched bottle of rye, i connected the speaker to my phone Alastor disliked the fact i had it to begin with but accepted it as a safety measure if i ever needed it which he made sure i didn't, anyway the devices connected and the first song posing started to play i nodded my head along before i left the room i made sure to light the candle 'okay now to find the unusually grumpy deer' i exit his study and locked the door behind me, the rest of the staff and residents were off in their rooms or busy with somthing, it was quite late now. i heard the click of the lock and pocketed the key and off to search for the strawberry man, it didn't take me long to hear the static and loud screeches coming from the lobby i was now hurried in my steps i approached the sound of Alastor and seen him leaning over the bar half demon mode towering over husk his antlers protruding from his head and the green symbols slowly floating around him, no doubt dials in his eyes.

"husk for your own soul,where is it!?"

"i told you b-boss its not here"

'oh shit oh shit oh fuck, okay i fucked up' i seen husk slightly trembling ears pulled back, wings tucked behind him and our eyes meet he asked for help silently, i half ran and half jogged towards Alastor, i gently tugged at his coat getting a large radio feedback screech jumping a little at the sound, before he turned around around with an audible snap to see me and i reacted by rushing out my words.

"hey! al i know you hate being touched but i didn't know how to get your attention safely but that's not important right now! come with me"

i spoke rapidly briefly confusing the deer he froze. antlers going back to normal shape and size before i kinda dragged him out of the lobby towards his study by the tail of his coat giving husk a last look of apology, i felt a light tug at my wrist and i let him go immediately and i held my head down in slight embarrassment as we walked down a hallway.

"although i don't completely despise the touch from you my dear, but-"

"no no its okay sorry i know i pushed a boundary. just didn't know how else i was suppose to calm the situation and uh i have the rye Mimzy said you liked it so i asked husk for some that's why he uhh didn't have it...."

i seen his eye twitch momentarily as we walked. the silence was deafening low sound of static emitting from him echoing in the hallway eerily, but as we got closer to his study his ears fluttered up at the muffled soft sound of jazz that was coming from the room, his slightly strained smile fell into a smirk his whole face softening, he snapped his fingers to open his study greeted by the set picnic blanket and the sent of the candle wafted in the air masking the dead venison that was all around in this room with cherries instead.

"i know its not a lot but i thought it would help with the shitty day you've had, well i don't even know what to call the thing you got with lucifer.... b-but that's besides the point i just thought i would keep you company if you need too vent or just relax"

"thank you my dear, i appreciate the gesture"

his smile was soft as he walked over to the blanket and sat down i slowly trailed behind him, he took of his coat and folded in onto the stool his dress shirt looking a little dishevelled as he unclipped his bowtie resting it on top 'oh thank fuck i was scared he would be mad or kill husk, welp he isn't so ill take that as a win' i sat next to Alastor and he opened the whisky and poured us both a glass, his glass had more in it 'i guess he dose need this' Alastor sighed and took a large sip leaning back onto his elbows landing just at the end of the blanket i took a swig of my glass feeling the strong liquor on my tongue my eyes squinted at the taste.

"hey.....do you want to talk about it?"

the silence was now more comforting now the white noise of Alastor's static taking a soft spot within the wordless jazz songs, i still held my glass and decided to quickly down it i felt like i needed it for this conversation, it is liquid courage after all. he obviously felt the same taking a sip before answering.

"i didn't want to send Mimzy away.... we were in the same circles when alive... she's a dear friend of mine! but the danger she carries with her often causes trouble due to her very nature"

his ears pinned back to his head his smile straining ever so slightly his eyes showing his true emotion as he carried his rant i listened intently as he's now sitting up.

"and-and i just loath this feeling of being so controlled i was.... sad? to make her go but they made me! i feel that I've betrayed her my dear"

his head rested in his hands covering the sides his face, body hunched over suddenly his eyes scrunched closed in pain? 'wait pain!?' hands moving to his throat wrapping around like he was choking laboured breathing could be heard, his slight shivers running throughout his body, ears twitching, opening his eyes focused on the grass in front him the body movements seizing up smile ever present 'oh fuck uuhhh i need to do somthing' my voice slightly wavers as i softly spoke to not scare him.

"hey hey hey al its gonna be okay hey....'

i knelt to face him slowly putting my hands in front of were his eyes were focusing on the floor as to not scare him, the grip around his head and neck loosened and he removed his hands to place them gently in mine, they were shaking so i closed my hands around his softly. i looked towards his face his eyes were shut closed to try too banish the tears smile still present but barely holding emotion i knew he hated to show weakness so this was a very rare occurrence but the distress was clear. he moved my hands to his face i let him guide me so he could be in control, he reviled in the soft contact calming himself down, his breathing evened out and i felt heat leave his face and his body relaxed as he leaned back onto the blanket pulling me with him and i lay next to his form.

"heyyy al i know this is.... difficult but ill always be here. okay? ill always be here for you no matter what"

"t thank you...."

no words were said from there as we both had another glass clinking them before downing it each laying down again, i softly rub my thumb against his palm to be comforting 'im not good at this shit'. i sigh and i let go and reached out to refill my drink again i lifted it to my lips the smooth jazz ended and the next song on was "eat you by carnival of thieves" and i only had a sip of my fourth drink before i was on my feet 'when did he get up!' i placed the glass down on the stool.

"come on my dear lets dance!"

"are you sure?"

"why wouldn't i be?"

i looked to his face he seemed happier now 'ah alright then, glad he got that out' i linked hands with Alastor he pulled me into him almost crashing into his chest. i looked up to see in his eyes now looking at me with soft passion as we danced along the grassy area of the room, my feet not as accustomed to dancing as my steps were out of rhythm to the surprising fast pace of the song, Alastor just laughed in response and he carefully moved in step to guide me, hips swaying to the sound. our feet now moving in sync to the beat of the song, he looked happy as he started to sing to the song joining in staggering my steps and signing along to the chorus.

"i go hungry every night~ ,but not this time around~~.... I'm gonna eat you, your my desire~"

"im gonna sharpen all my teeth and build a fire~"

"im gonna eat you~ ,cook and defeat you~ ,gonna breath you in my lungs and make you mine~"

his hands loosened in mine as we gently moved across the grass together letting all the stress of the day be released in the playful dancing. Alastor spun me around with a fancy flourish carefully so his face could rest in my neck, as the slower verse played we began to slowly sway back and forth i accidentally stepped on his foot from the odd angle

"oh shit sorry"

"haha don't worry my dear it was an accident"

"okay still sorry though"

"such a charmer as always my love"

once the song ended we continued to dance together for many more enjoying the time we had, until i tripped on a rock falling backwards Alastor caught me with one hand on the small of my back other one still in my hand he made it look like this was practiced and i wasn't a dumbass 'wow maybe I've to much to drink already' i was pulled back onto both feet before being lead to sit down.

"maybe that's enough for now my dear wouldn't want you falling for me again, the run of true smooth never love course. wait no that's not right"

i rolled my eyes as we laid together yet again having another drink each Alastor having two, i was feeling giddy from the whiskey and so was he showing his more comfortable loving side that was a rare sight, his hands resting on my hip tracing circles not that he doesn't do all of this already but he was letting me do the same guiding my hands to his side to mimic his movements tracing patterns as we just talked together enjoying the company but the funny thing is that Alastor is a lightweight when it comes to drinking so its not even after the 5th round he is slurring his words around.

"these mortals be fools lord what!"

"uh huh?"

"in shine ink my may black still bright love"

"al what are you talking about?"

we laughed and talked some more but Alastor rolled my body to lay upon his, maybe it was the drinks were getting to both our heads but Alastor face was slightly red and i was feeling a little hot under the collar myself, sighing adjusting my position on top of Alastor i moved down to feel somthing against my thigh 'oh what the hell?- OH' my eyes snapped back up to meet his gaze that was looking away ears pointed flat against his head face competing for his hair shade.

"oh shit i uh i can get off?"

only response i got was a tight grip at my hips when i was about to get off, i felt claws lightly scratching at the skin holding me in place my face getting red 'oh shit okay then' and a low static emitting from his chest it was similar to a purr 'heh like a cat cute', i attempt to sit up only to have a harsh grip on my hips, i lightly tapped his hand so i could do that i sat up my thighs on either sides of his form feeling his excitement more prominent against my thigh 'i did not think that's how this would go' i slowly move against him grinding my hips in a slow rhythm looking at his face for conformation his eyes darted away ears still back but he didn't look upset in the slightest.

"you okay?"

i leaned down softly kissing his lips his pressed hard into mine savouring every moment 'he was touch starved has to be' moving my hand down to unbutton my shirt once down i sat back up to slide it off my body before i unbutton Alastor's dress shirt looking to his face for confirming it was okay which he gave a nod still grinding in my body i moved harsher and then i heard it. i halted myself completely 'holy shit this man whimpers' wide eyed he stared at my face i started to move again eliciting another breathy gasp and whimper. i reached down between our bodies to undo his belt with little effort and let his arousal out, the heat from it was intoxicating, as the precum smearing on my thigh my hand wrapped around it surprisingly big, plenty to fill me 'Jesus fuck he looks amazing' Alastor whimpers a little as i slowly pumped his length more low and quite sounds spilling from his lips i leaned down hands either side of his face to keep myself balanced his tongue asked for entry and i allowed it as i swallowed every sound he made i was getting out of breath and pulled away from the passionate kiss my body still moving against Alastor. his hands claw at my hips silently begging asking me to speed up, i lightly grasp at his wrists with both hands before i gripped them and pinned his hands either side of his head, ears perked up the look of shock and "fuck, do i find this hot?" in his face was worth dying for as i continued the teasing slow pace against his length he could easily stop me. he was powerful enough to, but he didn't, he let me take the lead and overpower him. i increased my speed feeling his ever heightening arousal he was quite vocal I'm guessing it was the alcohol because he doesn't tend to be like this the endless gasps filling the room 'holy fuck who would of thought that the great radio demon would want to be under me' i suddenly heard a low growl from his lips.

"stop teasing me dear"

"okay i will"

I really get annoyed when people are like "im never gonna use this in real life" because it's clear they've missed the point of everything that they're learning and also probably currently don't take it upon themselves to learn the new skills they truly believe they should have been taught in school. No you will not use X math formula from calculus in day to day life but who cares, you're learning critical thinking and you're learning to get used to how numbers work in different situations. The people who are decent with numbers on a subconscious/instinctive level are the people who don't overpay for shit and they've probably got better spatial reasoning than the average person and so they avoid stupid shit like eyeballing a couch and getting one that's too big to fit through the damn door let alone actually fit in the living room.

And again like it's critical thinking building. You learn to read a math problem, you learn to see what information is being given and what's being withheld. It's critical reading. Gee I wonder what's a skill that people are missing these days that would be really really really helpful.

Yeah like math sucks. It kinda sucks! A lot of teachers are not good at teaching it, there's a weird stigma around it sometimes, etc etc yadda yadda blah blah blah but this weird like face value super shallow understanding of school subjects and why we do them in the first place. It's the same thing w why the curtains are blue or why they're not. No you'll never learn need to recite Shakespeare in real time off the dome but you do need to be able to read multiple forms of English, you need a history lesson, again you need critical reading skills, you need to understand personal and character complexity and the difference between morals and motivation, you need to understand what a fucking clue is, you need to learn again not to take shit at face value.

And also a lot of this feels like people who suck at math saying that means math like that shouldn't be taught in school. Like so what lol. Okay you suck but there's kids who genuinely love it and do it with ease. "I won't need this irl" you actually don't know that. You're in middle/high school And there are plenty of careers that need math like that and it's better to get the foundations down now rather than wait to teach a full grown adult something a kid would absorb easier. Like jobs count as "real life" y'all know that right. Right

And again lmao i dew nawt like math of almost any kind but this mentality bugs the shit out of me

Ena’s Relationships

Ena and Faust aren't rlly friends, he likes her bc she's lenient with his experiments but, other than that, they don't talk or hang out. Most of Comte’s residents are just faceless names to Ena, but she wants to meet all of them eventually. She prolly will tbh lmao

This is veeery canon divergent and some backstories are bent around a bit idk them well anyway, since i just read spoilers and not routes to cater to Ena’s story fhdjsj

Kinda short but ye just some stuff about Ena and her friends/suitor hehe

Vlad:

It wasn't uncommon for others to flirt with Ena but once Vlad had his eyes on her, it mysteriously stopped. Despite this, there was one guy who was always very drunk when he came around. There was an incident where he got a bit too pushy... It only happened once though — this may or may not have been Vlad’s fault and it may or may not have ended quite... Violently. Who knows? Not Ena.

Ena only takes Vlad’s strawberries when he can see her do it so she doesn't risk any misunderstandings between him and Faust again... He doesn't mind it but prefers to feed them to her or have her feed them to him. His favorite way to do so is by mouth, and he always sneaks a few kisses in too.

Vlad loves Ena’s curiosity and has Charles set up little “mysteries” for her to solve. He does this most often when she's upset with him, as she can never resist telling him all about the fun she had solving said mysteries.

Charles:

Charles is an enabler tbh, Ena will show even the slightest curiosity and he’ll be asking if she wants to check it out. They both know he does it on purpose, but it never stops her from accepting. When the mysteries are ones he's set up, he's a bit more obvious about it; she goes along with and enjoys it anyway.

Charles developed a crush on Ena fairly early on in their friendship, and it never went away. She's aware of it but doesn't acknowledge it since she sees him as more of a brother.

When Ena found out Charles was a vampire, she practically begged him to bite her. It didn't take much for him to do so, and it was long before Vlad came along. It didn't escalate into anything further, but he sometimes wishes it did.

Shakespeare:

Shakespeare and Ena’s friendship is kinda weird? She probably values him more than he values himself, but he sees her as the castle’s lady rather than a close friend. That's not to say they AREN’T friends, considering they still hang out and talk about his plays.

Ena helps Shakespeare get ready backstage for a lot of his plays, which was a bit of a pain to get him to accept at first. She doesn't really give him a choice now, and he appreciates the help from his master’s beloved.

Ena doesn't always understand what Shakespeare is saying, and he thinks it's kinda cute. Charles tries to translate sometimes.

Vincent:

Vincent and Ena are lowkey a sunshine duo, one of toxic positivity and the other of way too many secrets. It's a funny contrast, seeing as the front they mutually display is so mellow.

Ena’s kinda concerned about how naive Vincent is and, honestly, she does try to keep him and Vlad apart. She cares for them both and doesn't want there to be a conflict if Vincent finds out the truth about Vlad.

Theodorous:

These two don’t actually get along all that well; Theo tolerates her because his beloved broer likes her and Ena doesn't really care for his sour attitude. His sadistic tendencies bring back some not-so-good memories.

Despite this, Ena and Theo do see each other p often. Ena likes art and respects Theo’s work, she sees him at exhibits or passing by the flower shop at times; she sees him with Arthur and/or Vincent too.

Arthur:

Arthur flirts with Ena a LOT, but sometimes he feels like he's being watched and glared at. At these times, he always tones things back a bit; he knows it's not just a feeling.

Arthur was actually the doctor of Ena’s 6-year-old foster sister, Sophie. Sadly, the little girl passed away and it's something the two of them both repress. He doesn't really remember Ena or Sophie and she doesn't want to bring back any harmful memories for him, so they've basically restarted.

I found ambition when looking for Jack and Eric fanfic on ao3. I genuinely thought it was it's own show with characters who just happened to have the same name as my two bmw favs (I didn't watch gmw and for my own sake I probably never will because they do my babies; jack, eric and angela, so dirty, and I knew of certain things namely Lucas Maya Riley I didn't know enough for it to make me click). I had no clue what I was getting myself into but then I started reading. I'm so beyond glad I did, I've loved every second, every laugh and every tear. Ambition is the show I wished I had as a teen (instead I had glee... and Riverdale... that says enough...) but I'm glad I found it when I needed it, as I face the same challenges the gang has been facing in season 4 as they move on from triple a and onto life in the real world. I like to believe the stories we need find their way to us, the characters we need to meet come to us, thank you for bringing all the characters but especially Jack, Charlie, Nigel, Asher and Jade to life, joining them on their journeys throughout the show and seeing parts of myself - good and bad - reflected back on me has helped me in ways I'll never be able to put to words so I'll simply say thank you. That's the power of good writing, it leaves the reader changed, the writing in ambition is incredible. I've been invested at every step, hooked by every twist. Ambition feels so real, so poignant, the characters feel like real people, it is so true to life in all it's complexities and in all it's ugliness and beauty. It's raw and it's human and it's about community and hope and it's about flawed people who make mistakes but are still worthy and deserving of love and who are trying to do not only do their best but do good and it's the story I desperately needed. I just wanted to write a wee note to send some appreciation to you all for your incredible work and everything you do to bring us this brilliant piece of work.

If the multiverse is real there's a universe where I follow Dylan Orlando on yt and TikTok and debate and jokingly bicker with Nigel about Shakespeare and am mostly likely a techie, I'm kinda sad that I'm not in it lmao but I'm glad and so grateful in one where I found your story. Looking forward to the rest of season 4 and in time season 5, it's going to break my heart to say goodbye but that's how you know that it mattered, if it hurts to let it go.

{backpedaling to bmw for a sec, BLESS YOU FOR WRITING THE WRONGS. I loved the Shawn Angela storyline in season 1 and honestly it healed a part of me that bmw/gmw broke. Without a doubt ambition did it better. I love when they pop in and they have some of my favorite lines. Shawn absolutely kills me, to paraphrase ; "oh yeah I could be jack, authority baby" destroys me every single time. I adore his dynamic with the techies too and Jack. Speaking of Jack, I am on my knees praising y'all for Jack and Eric, so rarely are older couples in teen/ya shows given such depth and it's even rarer to see a queer relationship between two men in their 30s/40s. Their relationship isn't perfect, it's flawed and complicated and there is so much love, their journey so far has been beautiful. It's rare for older characters especially teachers and parents to be treated as three dimensional and as complex individuals, they're typically just the joke or unreasonable antagonist, not in ambition. They are just as complicated and as real as our mains and I love that}.

first off, i wanted to highlight, underline, emphasize in bold what you said here: "I like to believe the stories we need find their way to us, the characters we need to meet come to us..." because you quite literally put our mentality about creating the show into words (beautiful words at that). that is near word-for-word the approach esther and i have taken with this show basically since its inception when we started writing it for ourselves -- we never ever expected it would reach as many people as it has. and we think of it that exact same way, that those who are meant to discover ambition will find their way to it (and its never too late to dive in). so it's so special to me to see you say that, to reflect that sentiment back to us, as like... proof that it is true. this series has brought a specially strange and wonderful cohort of readers together and it is always amazing when another one pops in to make themselves known. so thank you, thank you, for taking the time out of your day to share that with us. and again, welcome!

secondly -- HELL YES TO FINDING YOUR WAY HERE BECAUSE OF JACK AND ERIC! as someone who admittedly has grown less than fond of bmw in the intervening years (does our version of ct show that a bit... oops lol), jack and eric as a duo are still who holds my heart because they were that iconic in the source material of yore. i typically just tag them because they are so central to ambition (though as you probably noticed, i don't tag bmw as a fandom -- at this point i wouldn't tag either show honestly since its so like it's own thing but i have to unfortunately lmao), but i had considered not doing so because i didn't want to clog up the jeric tag but now i'm so glad i do, because look what a lovely little happenstance of bringing you to ambition it fostered!!

(also, you're correct. don't watch gmw. i enjoyed my time with it back in the day, it's cute, but there are better shows and the fandom was absolutely horrible. basically everyone who was there will attest to that LOL. that's partially why we emphasize that at this point ambition really is its own thing, because it's so far removed -- and clearly you can vouch for that now 😊)

and thank you for your kind words about how we write jack and eric -- we 100% agree that adult characters on young adult dramas tend to be useless at best and downright vile at worst (hellooo mr schue, speaking of glee), and we wanted them to be fleshed out and flawed and featured just as much in their own right. plus not only do they have a great relationship with each other that we enjoy writing (enemies to friends to lovers done right, if we do say so ourselves), they have such incredibly important dynamics with others (lucas and isa being the obvious ones) that it's impossible to think of the show without them. so it is SO great to hear such specific praise for them from a reader! and i love that you shouted out a shawn line, he is an underrated gem in the ambition story world for sure (and allowing him and angela their due was very satisfying for us, yes, hahaha).

Most fandom takes are incorrect on Shaxx bc it's like. He fucked Mara (he did not!!! they are very good friends and he read to her and was probably hella good at it!!), he's either another dumb titan stereotype or "was Shakespeare in a past life" (which isn't meant to be harmful I'm sure, but still, I think characters (esp non-white ones!!) can be successful and good at a thing without having some famous dude in their lifeblood or w/e). Also I see way too much fan art of Shaxx being athletic/not hairy, white, or a tiger alien and it's like,, no this is a big sweet and very smart and beefy black bear of a man and not every great character is going to be all of that other stuff etc etc!!!

i used to hate this guy bc i thought he was a boring asshole but ykw. i have come around to him and i like him SO much even though sometimes i wanna punch him. my projected hate/love for him comes deeply from my daddy issues and that's as far as i'll speak on that!!! he's like a grizzled old depressed father-like guy to me though and i deeply care for him as a character now. it's so nice to see him have a purpose now on caiatl's war council.

he doesn't open up about it warmly or joyously, but like, you can TELL he's having a good time and putting his all into it. he smiles again, has more drive than before, hopefully he actually got the motivation to clean up his living quarters bc last i checked he was just. so fuckin down and neglectful of it that it was like a hoarder's space that was in desperate need of cleaning and organizing (that broke my heart so fucking bad bc i've been there before).

i get why a lot of people don't like him but i also feel like some of the hate for him is based in like, not knowing enough about him and just not caring about other people and the shit they go through lmao. that's not always the case but i've seen some people say certain things and it's like... it gives me the ick, even though he's fictional. like there's irl people who are like this too and it makes me wonder if they'd treat them the very same.

idk like i need to evaluate all the facts:

i know a fair amount about specific parts of star wars lore

i have strong opinions on certain parts of star wars lore

(some of those strong opinions are Fuck You, Canon)

the words "star wars" bring up feelings of extreme rage

however i also cannot remember the last time i watched tpm, aotc, rots, anh, esb, or rotj

Gods, that's an impossible question. I might have to say the Percy Jackson series, because those books are part of the reason I love fantasy so much, and they also were the reason for my mythology obsession, which was a big part of my life when I was younger. Another option is Six of Crows, because that duology is possibly my favorite books of all-time. My phone case is Six of Crows art, and so is my home screen, and I have a SoC t-shirt. But really, I don't have a great answer to this. Sorry!

💚Which book character do you relate to the most, and why?

ANOTHER IMPOSSIBLE QUESTION, V! Usually my favorite characters are ones that I don't relate to at all. Partly because I rarely relate to characters (which is probably partly due to my nearly-nonexistent empathy as well as the fact that people don't write books about people like me), and also partly because I don't want to read books about myself. I want to read books about interesting people having cool adventures. I don't need to relate to a character to find them compelling, especially since all of my favorite characters Have Issues, lmao. BUT I will say that the character that I've read who I relate to the most is probably the main character from On The Edge Of Gone by Corinne Duyvis. She's an autistic girl whose special interest is cats, and who dreams of being a veterinarian one day. And that was exactly me when I was a kid. I'm too selfish to ever do the things she did in the book, nor would I have that kind of compassion for her mother's actions the way she does, and I ended up realizing I can't ever be a veterinarian, and don't want to anyways, but I related to her experiences as an autistic girl quite a bit.

❤️Who is your all-time favorite author, and what makes their writing so special to you?

Either Rick Riordan or Leigh Bardugo, because they wrote books that will stick with me my entire life. I might have to go with Ms. Bardugo, though... Her books mean the world to me, and I own all of them. (Including boxed sets of both the Grisha Trilogy and SoC duology) I just love the way she makes all her characters feel so real and compelling. They all feel like people, and every single action they take feels like a decision that makes sense for them. In her books, no one ever acts out of character, not even for "plot reasons". They are also all so intensely unique, and have their own voices. I never feel like I'm reading the same person 4 times, unlike some other media. And all of them are shaped by their past experiences, rather than those just existing for "sob story" reasons. This is especially true in SoC/CK and KoS/Ro. (No offense to Ms. Bardugo, but I was never attached to either Alina or Mal, lmao. I just didn't care about them personally. Everyone else, though??? I would kill and die for them.)

📘Which classic book or author do you think everyone should read at least once in their lifetime, and why?

So, I don't read a lot of classics, largely because I read first and foremost for enjoyment and entertainment, and most classics don't appeal to the kind of literature I want to read. (There's not a lot of light-hearted/funny classics, nor many heists or dragons, lmao.) I understand why classics are important, and I always put my heart into analyzing them and understanding why they're considered classics when I read them, but in general, they're not really my thing. I will say that I have a large love for Shakespeare's Hamlet when I read it for class. At one point I had most of the "To be or not to be" soliloquy memorized, although now I only know a few lines. I also enjoyed Macbeth, but Hamlet is my favorite Shakespeare work. I just love Hamlet as a character so much. He's fascinating, and his story is very compelling and interesting. (Now you've got me thinking about the "Hamlet as a Paladin" post, and also the "If Shakespeare leads switched plays, there wouldn't be a story" post...)

i'm only gonna do snowbaz, and also these are just in order of how recent they are bc i dont know how to rank them lol

1. Something's Gotta Give Now (T), 7k

this is my most recent snowbaz fic and i really really liked writing it. it's an au, and i don't really want to give too much away because part of what i like about this fic is the way the backstory unravels. but the gist is: baz plays a sexy, angsty vampire on a popular tv show, and simon is very bitter and very funny about it.

i did this after not writing snowbaz for a while, so i feel like i was able to return to the characters with fresh eyes and some broken bad habits. the third person is nice too -- i definitely write more cleanly in third. it's definitely not crack (which was my original intention lmfao, it's technically my crackfest entry), but im not really mad about it. i gave up on my ability to not to take it seriously about 500 words in. also, there's a second chapter that it just unhinged shit lmfao.

2. The Places We Build (T), 4k

this fic plays with the idea of: what if simon and baz decided in their first year at watford that they didn't want to hate each other? what if everything was the same, except nothing was the same, because they were friends? i like it because i feel like it has a strong heartbeat. i love to see how much of a world i can create in the least amount of words, and there's a looooot of history packed into these 4k words. very tender. very cuddly :)

this one was so fun to write. another au -- baz is a wedding planner, simon is penny/sheps best man (yes, both of them). it's loosely based on THAT scene from the movie 27 Dresses (iykyk) but it stands on its own. i like how i leaned into the setting here -- it feels like a very accessible world to me, like you could close your eyes and see the pub. and also i really just like to put my blorbos in a situation where they get drunk and have fun hahaha. as always, shit gets kind of real and snowbaz are their usual intense selves. also there's awkward car sex, which was hilarious to write.

4. Jump Up, Chosen One! (T), 8k

dude. what the FUCK was i on here..... this is perhaps the most plot-driven thing i've ever written, while also being one of the WEIRDEST things ive ever written. the premise is: simon goes off, trapping him, niall, dev, and baz in a Super Mario Bros game. and like. it's silly, yeah. but when i read back through im always like -- oh, ok, there's a lot of heart in this! good job rory! more reasons to love: lots of fun niall & dev screen time, simon solving problems thru the power of Being Determined, a tender moment that i interrupt several times by reminding you that simon and baz do indeed look like mario characters, penny solving problems thru the power of Being Clever, and a surprise tonal shift at the end lmfao. idk man. there's a lot going on here and i think it's p sweet.

5. In black ink my love may still shine bright (M), 5k

even though i hate that i used a fuckin long ass shakespeare quote as a title (lmao. like it fits and i love that sonnet but still. tacky !), this fic is great. @starwarned and i talk a lot about the power of The Slutty M-Rated Fic, and this is my best work in that regard. post-awtwb, date night -- they get ice cream and go to a bar and... shenanigans ensue. it's sweet and happy and nothing bad happens. NICE. the e-rated sequel is the first smut i ever wrote. i was so nervous about it. look at me now.... our resident blood slut LMAO.

honorable mentions, because im a dirty cheater. these probably belong in top 5 but ive been talking about them already recently so i didnt want to be repetitive.
