DP - Valerie's Powers

I think that slowly over time, she’d become something along the lines of an ecto-liminal or even a pseudo-halfa, but a unique one. She might be able to gain a pseudo-core & ecto-signature, but instead of an Obsession, she'd have a Fixation due to not being a true Halfa. Also, I feel like most of her powers would be bound to her armor. (There’s this ‘race’ in DnD 5e called Animated Armor which is a soul bound to a set of armor. There’s also this homebrew somewhere that allows a character to wear said armor. So, I think of it like Valerie’s wearing one of these armors. The only difference here is that the soul possessing the armor is her own living one.)

Like, when not wearing her armor, she'd just have the typical ecto-liminal powers. Things like enhanced physicality, better senses, ability to see in the dark, able to see & touch non-ectoplasmic spiritual entities, a sort of feather fall ability, & the ability to affect people's sense of object permanence in regards to herself.

Just small, easy to dismiss things.

However, due to not being a true Halfa, she wouldn't become more powerful naturally. Instead, that'd require actually upgrading her suit as it has a sort of osmosis function that allows it to integrate technology into itself.

Taking advantage of this function, she can eventually obtain full ghost powers, but it's done by proxy of working technology enhanced with ecto-energy. So, invisibility would work using a camouflage function, intangibility would work based on molecular phasing via high-speed vibration (think the Flash), ghost rays would work by just using guns that are built into the suit, & flight is obtained via her hoverboard which would move based on the theory of acoustic levitation.

Now, normally, this sort of technology works very differently to ghost powers. Such as camouflage being when you bend the light around you to reflect away from you & molecular phasing via vibration being when molecules vibrate at such a high speed that you can pass through matter, not to mention that acoustic levitation is the use of soundwaves to keep objects suspended in the air. Whereas ghostly invisibility & intangibility are actually the ghost literally leaving the physical plain & entering the spiritual plain & flight is, again, full control of one's gravity. Or at least, that's how Halfa flight works.

However, due to Valerie's suit being powered by ectoplasm, it sort of bridges the gap between the 2. However, it would still require the technology to be sound. Like, invisibility would actually require the tech to actually successfully camouflage even without ectoplasm in order for full ghostly invisibility to work with ectoplasm. The ectoplasm just sort of… increases the tech's effectiveness, I suppose?

It would also allow her to have a unique way of becoming a better hunter that is separate from how Danny does.

It could also create interesting irony & internal conflict for her character if she were to begin to exhibit more & more ghostly features.

Though, she wouldn't ever have the same potential for raw power that Danny does.

Prompt 294

Danny has found an… interesting corner of the Realms, avoided by all. There’s a bunch of ghosts, and a couple demons, angels, and a couple things that he’s never seen before. It’s actually really fun, and no one else ever comes so it’s kind of peaceful even with the chaos the family there does. There’s even a couple doctors who are happy to help him out, and apparently several dozen of them were vigilantes during life. Honestly this shadow area of the Zone is great!

Or, Danny stumbled across the Realms area where the bats of Every world and timeline have set up. He hasn’t realized the only reason he’s not already ghost-adopted is that the different versions are arguing over who gets to be the first to do so.

Jason finding Phantom severely injured and yet still making stupid quips and decides that he needs to save this dumbass and maybe keep him around forever. (He could easily convince Bruce to pseudo-adopt him since he’s the perfect fit for his usual strays.) He gets him taken care of and then tries to get to the bottom of what happened.

(Danny’s parents found out and tried to kill/capture him or the GIW got to him and he ended up fleeing and landing in Gotham worse for wear.)

He doesn’t really have anywhere to go since Amity is out of the question and Sam and Tucker still live there for another year as they finish high school and he’s not sure Jazz won’t try and force a mediation. He resolves to just living in the Ghost Zone for a while instead so he doesn’t have to worry about rent or shit but Jason gives him an alternative to stay with him instead.

Danny takes it.

“I mean sure, Ghost Boy, live with all the other spirits you’ve royaly pissed off if you really want to,” Jason rolled his eyes, “Or you could take me up on my offer and not have to worry about them trying to kick your ass and have backup when they do.”

(Danny may have given Jason the impression that he doesn’t love the idea of living in the GZ because of the ghosts being a bit hostile and not the fact that he’s the King-to-Be and doesn’t want to get harassed about it yet because he is Not Ready but Clockwork wants him to start preparing, lol.)

Queue the following Shenanigans and Drama: GIW getting their shit rocked by the JL once Bruce learns about what they’re doing, Ghost Rogues showing up at inopportune times and making the batfam realize how OP Danny really is (add some fun Fenton Gadgets for them to play with bc they haven’t had experiences with Ghosts before), Pit Rage (and possible Halfa!Jason) drama that Danny gets fixed as if it’s nothing, and ofc the eventual Ghost King Reveal that makes them all realize that Danny is somehow literally the most powerful being ever and they’ve seen him fall asleep in his oatmeal.

Thinking about the transgender allegories that come with being a halfa. (Needing to hide your identity from the world, the government not respecting your autonomy as a person, only trusting your ghost half identity with very close friends and other members of the community)

Thinking about how Spectra weaponizing Danny's identity against himself, Skulker hunting him down for being what he is, and Walker's rules being as strict as they are and giving nobody any chance to learn them all feels like LGBT+ Community infighting metaphors.

ESPECIALLY Walker, and especially when combined with the genius headcanon that he is Maddie's dead dad because in that situation, Walker is the homophobic/transphobic man who spent his life fighting against these 'strange others' and when discovering that he's not as cishet as he thought, starts policing the community as a moral authority who's strict to an unobtainable degree.

Thinking of Skulktech's existence in general.

Thinking about how despite being told Ember and Skulker are a couple in canon, we never see much (if any) of their chemistry together. In theory, them being a couple could lead to an episode about them hunting Phantom down as a band/team as Ember's trying to engage in Skulker's hunting interest and Skulker's reciprocating by trying to engage in Ember's music interest, but we don't get anything like that.

Thinking about how all the cute couple stuff between them comes from phanon and in the show their relationship is more of an obligation. At best they're mutually bearding (Ember gains scary dog privilege with him to spook off the creepy fans and Skulker gets free seats to the shows of the most popular rockstar in the ghost zone), and at worst they're in an unhappy forced hetero-normative relationship.

Thinking about how Danny's arc going from fighting ghosts to working with them and deciding to be the bridge between the human world and the ghost world could be an allegory for him learning to love himself for what he is.

Thinking about how those transgender allegories also apply to Vlad on the grounds he himself is one.

Thinking about how we never even see or hear about Vlad's biological family outside of an off-mention about a sister he might not even have. "If anyone asks, you're my sister's cat".

Thinking about how Vlad and Danny are thematic opposites despite being the (former) only two of their kind, how Vlad has everything but the family he wants so badly and how we're proven time and time again that when the chips are down and when it comes to it, Jack and Maddie always love and accept Danny and his ghost half.

Thinking... Did Vlad get disowned from his family for being what he is?

Also with all of these thoughts, Badger Cereal in a nutshell is 'trans teenager whose only experience with lgbt communities is toxic cesspools filled with infighting tries to cancel his pseudo-uncle/godfather on twitter because "he used anti-lbgt slurs" (to describe himself) and instead of being mature, Vlad retorts with "My transsexual whore ass was with both of your parents back in college, I'd recommend getting a DNA test before throwing stones Little Badger"🫶. Because he himself is also pretty toxic and petty.'

Is Vlad truly a halfa?

Because in Masters of all Time, we see his cannon accident and it doesn't look ecto was involved at all...

Maybe the ecto was in another container along with what was needed to fuel the machine, but he clearly got a face of contaminated fried sugar.

So, is Masters a meta/mutant with some sort of pseudo ghost abilities?

A lot of Danny talks with Vlad sound like a predator stalking a minor including the want of a someone else's wife while wanting their child even going to spy on them and steal DNA with said child to create another child that he doesn't even care for except for the original child.

Headcannons that carry over to almost every if not every DP au I think of (most if not all of them are DP/DC aus)

Danny and Jazz took dance classes when they were little, and Danny was always a dance prodigy. He can dance flawlessly on pointe and can do any style, though Danny and Jazz's main focus was ballet when they took dance classes. They still know a lot about most dance styles.

Danny and Jazz also took figure skating lessons growing up, but only in winter. They both still practice every time they go ice skating.

Danny is trans.

Danny and Paulina are dance partners (or were dance partners before Danny left Amity Park)

Paulina has dragon powers because of the incident with Dorothea's necklace.

Sam has dragon powers because of that incident as well, but hers are weaker due to less exposure.

Sam also has plant powers because of the thing that happened with Undergrowth.

Paulina and Sam both have dragon instincts because of their dragon powers. This means they are both VERY protective.

Ghost hearing is on the same level as kryptonian hearing. When Danny first became a halfa, everything was too loud for him to understand and sounded like white noise. Danny, Sam, and Tucker all started learning sign language shortly after the accident because of this. If Jazz didn't already know sign language, she quickly noticed that Danny wasn't understanding anything he was hearing and started learning sign language as well.

Ghost speech is not a language. It is a power that allows ghosts to understand and speak any and every language fluently, whether they've heard it before or not. But it's like learning every language with the time and effort it takes to learn 1. The power still needs to be practiced for ghosts to use it well. It's a skill.

Danny knew a few languages even before he died, so it was easier for him to learn ghost speech than it was for other ghosts who have that power.

Dani goes by Ellie because it didn't feel like she had her own name when she went by Dani.

Danny and Ellie both have fangs.

Danny and Ellie need more iron in their diets than any human.

Danny is 4 feet tall and will stay that height forever.

Ellie is at least 6 feet tall when fully grown because her growth wasn't stunted like Danny's.

Jazz is TALL

Danny is touch starved af but REFUSES to ask for affection.

Jazz is touch starved too, but not nearly as much as Danny, and her communication about wanting affection is slightly better than Danny's.

Danny gave Ellie a stuffed raccoon shortly after they met. Ellie named it Travis.

Ellie refuses to say the word "raccoon." They are Trash Pandas and that is what she calls them.

Danny has a giant panda plush that was given to him by 1 or both of his sisters.

Jazz has a stuffed red panda that Danny and Ellie worked together to get for her.

Danny is bisexual.

Sam is a lesbian.

Jazz is either a lesbian, bi with a preference for women, or aroace. (Lesbian in most of the aus I think of.)

John Constantine is Danny and Jazz's pseudo uncle, "Uncle JC," who they weren't allowed to see or talk to anymore after he got into a fight with Jack and Maddie about ghosts when Danny was 12. (This 1 is more specific to dp/dc, but most, if not all, of the dp aus I think of are dp/dc.)

I don't talk about these enough, but these are the headcannons going through my head with every, or almost every, story idea I come up with. I think I've mentioned all of these on discord at some point. I don't post all the story ideas I come up with, but many float in and out of my head and repeatedly come back. Sometimes, a possible story idea will be floating around in my head for weeks, and I won't write anything down or talk about it or post about it, and then eventually I either send it to the discord server to talk about, or post it on tumblr. Usually discord. But I only talk about the ones that I can put into clear enough words to talk about them.

I drew this one a few days ago and never posted it for reasons I forget.

Here's the current reference sheet for the Ben of A Story Told. He has about a million different pseudo names (his friends generally call xer “Benj” or “Benja” whereas xer coworkers and family call him “Ben” or “Benjamin”). His hero name is “Ten Speed”, which he came up with at the age of ten for an email address and it he never outgrew it. His car is called it, his username is it, xe has tried to ‘anonymously’ use it to fly under the radar (and failed fantastically but xe was a child so it's to be expected).

Xe is closeted in public, around family, and just generally when in xer home dimension bit is openly omnigender and poly outside of it. Xer longest standing relationship is a comet with a rock musician in Danny's hometown.

He's not too crazy about dresses (and prefers pants) but does enjoy them on occasion. His preferred style is more geared towards athletic and loose.

His Omnitrix scrambled out of its outer casing when he was about ten years old but it went unnoticed until he tried to take it off. Without the outer casing's hardware, xe was unable to control/select xer form nor acquire easy charge. Xe went on to wear the casing sparsely, mostly just to keep the Omnitrix from putting a drain on his body. Transforming without the outer casing is difficult to do on command and near impossible to get right.

The Ultimatrix was supposed to replace the Omnitrix and correct the old programming. The Omnitrix makes the very mature and not tantrum-like decision to cannibalize the Ultimatrix from the inside out, using its parts for replacements and rewiring the Ultimatrix to suite its needs.

The latest edition of the Omnitrix is an attempt to compromise with the original, or so Ben was told. In actuality, it was a failed attempt to deactivate the Omnitrix and replace it with something closer to the intended design. Azmuth might have outdone himself in designing the original's AI…

Through trial and error, Benj found a secondary source of power for the Omnitrix so as to keep it from making him sick. At the same time, he learned that he can do and tolerate certain things previously believed exclusive to energy beings. This is how xe was able to get xer ectotattoos; a kind of body art practiced by ghosts and halfas. Eyed viewers might notice that Left and Right are labeled in this image. I a, certain that the artist did not get those confused several times over and that her immense decisiveness will not cause the design and placement of the tattoos to fluctuate across art pieces.

A decision from Rex in a desperate situation led to the Omnitrix's parameters to be irreversibly broadened. Whereas before it had cared only about protection of its data and a baseline frequency of transformations, now it monitors its host's (Benj's) vitals. A risk to Ben is a risk to the system; the Omnitrix must now generate defensive and offensive mechanisms for their shared wellbeing.

The amulet was a last ditch attempt to appease the Omnitrix after a freak accident lands Ben in an intensive care unit.

In her youth, Ella Lopez was known as Danielle Masters or Danielle Fenton. The halfa was in a car accident not too terribly long after she struck out on her own (or after Phantom Planet, should you like that). Her human half died, and Ellie thought that was it. In the wreckage, she met Rae-Rae.

Everyone else in the accident died, and it took Ellie a moment to realize she was still breathing. That she wasn't a ful ghost after all. Rae-Rae was fascinated by her, and in the end one of two things happened:

Azrael helped her choose an adoptive family and take on a permanent glamour to fit into their household, thus Ella Lopez of the show. Now Ella is trying to figure out why her angelic best friend pushed her to meet the actual devil

Azrael took her to Michael Demiurgos, who adopted her, and Ellie became either an alternate sort of Elaine Belloc (possibly still named Ella Lopez if you want to do a comics + show + Danny Phantom crossover/fusion) or a pseudo sister to her. Danielle could very much sympathize with the wtfery Elaine has to deal with bc of Sandalphon in particular

Whichever angle, I think Ghost King AU with Ellie as an heir would add an extra layer of fun ;)

Crack AU, where The Fenton Parents Invited Mr. Lancer's Class to watch the portal opening. But they still left because of the OG issue, leaving Jazz and Mr. lancer to supervise the class. Danny, Sam, and Tucker decided to look at the portal still to see if something was wrong. As some of the students have stated, bath mouthing the Fenton parents really bad. The trio figures out what is wrong by accident, but the bast is bigger than in canon and engulfs the whole lab. so a full 22 halfa's are created. As this is a huge thing Vlad gets wind of it and does his best to keep a cap on it so the government doesn't go to the GIW with it. how ever in the process Vlad gets roped into a teaching role. ending in Mr. lancer and Vlad pseudo parenting/ teaching the 21 younger halfas. And I'd like to think Vlad and Lancer end up as wine buddies due to the stunts the teens end up in.

DPxDC HC - The Lazarus Pits & Jason

I love the idea of Jason Todd becoming a sort of pseudo-halfa.

Like, there are all these headcanons that the Lazarus Pits are places where the Infinite Realms seeps into the mortal world & leaves its dead & rotting ectoplasm to be absorbed by plants & animals only for the ectoplasm to return to the Zone after those things die & it's just part of the perpetual cycle of life & death. Like ghostly compost piles or something.

Even where it's speculated that there's a pit beneath Amity or something.

But the Lazarus Pit in Nanda Parbat has been corrupted by dark magic used to clog up the pit & resurrect the recently dead. This causes the souls of the dead to be unable to move on to their 'Journey of the Soul'(TM).

Also, because ectoplasm more easily attaches to & amplifies strong emotions & the more negative ones are the most typically felt at the moment of tragic death, but this ectoplasm is rotting & corrupt, therefore making those emotions more difficult to regulate, it causes what is known as the Pit Rage & anger issues.

I like fics & prompts where Jason either goes to Amity to investigate & staying there too long sort of flushes out all the gunk & he's able to develop a core or he's taken to Frostbite where they help him. It's also funny when ghosts react to him as if he'd been swimming in trash or shit for days because that's essentially what the pits are for the GZ.

However, if he does get a fully stable core, I prefer if he's not a full halfa (maybe halfway between ecto-liminal & halfa) & only gets a few of the more common powers. Even the ones he gets tend to be pretty downgraded. Things like advanced healing, increased strength, speed, & flexibility, invisibility & intangibility on occasion, the ability to actually grab & hit ghosts, even the power to see the regular, non-GZ DC ghosts like Deadman & the Gentlemen Ghost. Perfect dark vision, able to walk entirely silently, & he messes with people's perception of him by making himself unnoticable. This is called Spectral Acknowledgement. However, because he's not a true halfa, his anti-gravity center isn't fully developed, so he can really only glide & slow his falling. Just stuff that gives him an edge & a few benefits, while not taking away from his fighting style.

Liminals

Ok I’ve been wanting to make this post for a while but I’ve been putting it off, mostly because how long this is going to be.

Also disclaimer while I draw a lot from @five-rivers my thoughts on liminals are different then theirs

So anyway Liminals, also known as gateway ghosts, half ghosts, and halfas. Although half ghost really refers to a specific type of liminal but we’ll get to that later.

To understand my thoughts on liminals I need to clarify a few things.

What is ectoplasm?

Now I’m not going to get into the whole theoretical pseudo science of how ectoplasm might work. There are plenty of posts floating around on that if you want that kind of stuff. @floralflowerpower has some good ones.

Anyway I’m just going to go over enough of the basics of how I thing ectoplasm works to understand what I’m talking about later on.

So ectoplasm is a type of matter that only naturally occurs in the Ghost Zone and has a number of anomalous properties that kind of break physics in the living world. These properties are also different depending on the kind of ectoplasm you’re dealing with. Kind of like how graphite is dark and crumbly while diamond is hard and clear, but both are carbon.

The type of ectoplasm related to liminals is what I call active ectoplasm or unstable ectoplasm. This kind of ectoplasm is most often found in newly forming ghosts, destabilized ghosts, and ghost portals. It’s the rawest form of ectoplasm and the most easily turned into a different form. It’s also the kind most often found in the living world and has an interesting effect on dead tissue.

Active ectoplasm can revive dead cells and make them function like they are alive again. However, it has to saturate the dead cells for this to happen. It also can react negatively to living cells if the cells become over saturated and there is nothing to offset it’s effects.

Liminal vs. ecto contaminated

The distinction is what the ectoplasm is doing inside the living body.

In liminals the ectoplasm is reviving dead cells and leaving the living cells alone. Eventually the ectoplasm will reach and equilibrium point where all the dead cells are revived and healthy and will become a more stable form of ectoplasm. This tends to happen with constant minor exposure over a long period of time.

In ecto contamination the ectoplasm is causing harm to the living cells much faster than it’s reviving dead cells. If nothing is able to offset the effects of the ectoplasm all the cells in the effected area will be destroyed, which can be fatal. This is more common in cases of sudden exposure to a massive amount in a short period of time.

Now you might note that these are the exact opposite of Danny and Vlad’s situation but I did also say they were a specific type of liminal.

What is a liminal?

A liminal is a being that is composed of both ectoplasm and living tissue, and as stated before there are different types of liminals. These types are based on the level of ectoplasm the organism is made of.

Level 0: Not a liminal - Has no ectoplasm making any amount of their body. Think aunt Alicia or most people not living in Amity Park.

Level 1: Ecto sensitive/Mediums - People with very minor amount of ectoplasm in them, mostly from living near areas of high ghost or portal activity. There’s not much different physically between this level and level 0 aside from being more likely to have rare traits, but they are more sensitive to ghost even weaker ones level 0 can’t see or hear. Basically everyone in Amity Park is at least a level 1.

Level 2: Ecto heightened - People who are exposed to ectoplasm constantly and may have even consumed it. These people will still register as human but are more durable, stronger than average, and heal a bit faster. They also tend to be a bit more obsessive in behavior. Jack, Maddie and Jazz are all level 2. Although Jazz is higher because she doesn’t wear a hazmat suit.

Level 3: Ecto enhanced - People who have entered the Ghost Zone but did not stay there for very long. Are the first level to have some slight physical changes, but it’s only noticeable if you’re looking. Eyes that catch the light oddly, or hair that looks a little too wispy at the right angle. They also have the increased physical abilities and obsessive behavior level 2s have as well as the ability to fully interact with ghostly objects. Both Sam and Tucker are level 3.

Level 4: Proto cored - People who spent years in the Ghost Zone. They are still recognizable as humans but there is a very inhuman quality to them. They walk and move as if gravity doesn’t effect them as much and even have some minor ghostly abilities, like intangibility and glowing eyes. Also because of their proto core they can feed on emotional energy, but it’s not a replacement for food. There isn’t a canon character like this but this is what Flynn would be. Technically, Valerie is a level 4 too but her origin is more artificial.

Level 5: Half ghosts - People who were inside an opening ghost portal, being torn between two dimensions, being revived and dying at the same time. Level 5s have a true ghost core meaning part of their consciousness inside it. This means that the person is able to form a ghostly body, giving them all the abilities of a typical ghost. They also have both human and ghostly instincts such as needing sleep but also needing to fulfill their obsession. They tend to be pretty powerful since they have all abilities and can feed on their own emotional energy. Danny and Vlad are the only natural half ghosts known today, even if the portals that created them were artificial. Elle and Perfect clone are also a level 5 but again their origin is artificial.

Level 6: Corps ghosts - People who have been in the Ghost Zone longer than an human lifespan. They are still technically alive but are very much not human anymore. It can be hard to distinguish them from other ghosts but it is rumored that the Yetis of the Far Frozen could be this kind of ghost. Frankin clone, Skelly clone, and Tiny clone are also level 6 but again they are artificial.

Level 7: Walk ins - Ghosts that possess a dead body and use their own ectoplasm to revive the dead tissue. Not much is known about this kind of liminal since most ghosts don’t see the point in doing this.

ah i see how that'd be confusing! that was a "nobody knows AU" (which was probs easy to miss me saying that with all that text i added to the post).

basically, it's a fandom-known au where, well, as its says on the tin: nobody knows Danny's the phantom. the reason i drew that AU was because I'm doing DannyMay, a phandom event where throughout all of May, we follow a list of themed prompts for the full month.

my AU is more so my "take" on the show's story, blending fanon and canon. aspects of my take have some fanon headcanons (some are my own, but most are common fanon):

said freckles glow in ghost form (which look like stars! Danny loves astronomy so its a fun character detail)

blue Phantom (to match how Vlad and Dan are blue)

^ mine's reasoning is that Danny's form/powers are based on being photographed by Sam at his time of death

Danny has lichtenberg scars (from being electrocuted)

having electric powers (though mine is actually light based powers that has electricity as an off shoot)

^ powers are more limited in general, just standard ghost abilities and the above

Jazz takes after her father, being more bulky. (cause no way both kids would be scrawny!)

tucker is a twitch streamer. his popularity stagnates/shrinks once he becomes busy with ghost hunting

the ghost portal was funded by Vlad (who has a different relationship with the Fentons than in canon) and has it hushed up by Nondisclosure Agreements.

after a while, Danny's main objective is helping ghosts cross over to the after life.

ghost zone is a different spacial dimension (with a bunch of pseudo science takes from a high-school understanding of dimensions LOL)

pure ectoplasm is corrosive to flesh

halfas are time paradoxes, they're fusions of multiple timelines merged into one person

Fanon made characters: Wes Weston and his older brother, Kyle Weston. (extremely loosely based on background characters)

Does Dani exist in the Undercover AU? How does Danny explain her as either Fenton or Phantom? How helpful is Dani in letting herself be explained? Does Jazz know about Dani?

like with Val, Ellie doesn't really impact the core story I wanna tell with Undercover AU, and in fact might actively be contrary to some of the things I've set up (Danny's prior loneliness, how strongly he attaches to Sam & Tuck in absence of other relationships that accept various sides of him). so I don't have any plans for her... at least not in the comics i'm making, which isn't to say there aren't some fun possibilities as like. AUs of Undercover AU LOL.

in that version maybe she's purely known as a ghost related to Phantom, and as a human she and Danny probably take a few steps to differentiate their appearances a bit more after Danny manages to convey to her how imperative neither of them get found out as halfas lest they be studied by their own parents (or, pseudo-parents, in Ellie's case). in which case she's pretty helpful to explaining who she is in any instance, even if she might antagonize danny a bit. (i'm definitely taking insp from Stove's recent doppleganger comic pfhghahsad also in the fact it makes more sense for Danny and Ellie to be the same age).... Jazz wouldn't know anything about her either, since she's not yet in the loop on ANY ghost stuff.

there's another idea i had where, in the version of this AU where Danny's ID reveal breaks bad between him, Sam, and Tuck, they stop talking to him for a while, and THAT'S when Ellie makes her entrance. can you imagine the broken state Danny is in, latching onto this strange "cousin" who seems to know all about him, and accepts him, and is just like him too? only for her to betray him to VLAD? And then betray Vlad for Danny? what a fuckin rollercoaster
