I'm loving all the sherliam/mycal playlist discussion!! I don't have much to add other than that 'Set Fire to the Rain' and 'Skyfall' by Adele and 'R U Mine' by Arctic Monkeys are my favourite songs for sherliam :))

I was doing a last minute look over the lyrics of 'R U Mine' there and I just realised that there is a line in it where I thought they said "Just wanna hear you say, "You caught me, baby"", but they actually say "You got me, baby" and that makes me a lil sad because it was so canon before that-

I have to go listen to R U Mine now, I don't know that one! But the Adele ones are great, and Skyfall is good for the James Bond tie-in too haha!

Thinking a lyric is perfect and then finding out it's something different is the worst. Earlier today re-listening to Bedroom Hymns I thought it said

The funniest thing about yuumori is honestly how sherliam is quite arguably been canon since chapter 53. Like. Sure it’s not like they fucken made out or anything. But literally everything in the context of the letter is a hundred percent romantic. You’d have to go out of your way to interpret it as platonic. I mean, come on.

“i wouldn’t have been able to explain it face to face” “it’s difficult to explain in words” “for just a moment i forgot the weight of my sins” “i feel like you’re the only one in the world who could ever understand me” “it’s strange to have such feelings for a detective” “i would throw away everything i worked for to continue by your side” “i want you by my side for those final moments, you and no other” “I doubt you feel the same” “if we could be reborn into another world there is no doubt we would take each other’s hand” bitch... maybe I don’t understand romance, but that’s not a homie moment, Liam. And then Sherlock’s “I’VE ALWAYS FELT THE SAME WAY” response like. Buddy boy that’s a bit gay

And just the “as true friends do” at the end does not actually counter that in the slightest. This is the 1800s. I’m fairly sure gay lovers at the time would often refer to each other as “friends”, especially in, yknow, letters. It’s clear someone like Liam would use that term to insinuate it, cause he’s a fucking coward who would rather throw himself into a river than out himself. In the context of something otherwise undeniably romantic, this fits right in for the context of, well, victorian england.

as for how i make these, i just channel my inner feral energy. those inspired by other series (like 2gether and pride and prejudice if you follow my ao3) are the more serious ones while those that are inspired by everyday situations (like yk the results thing and me telling my teacher i was a flat earther he knew it was a joke but we were laughing so hard) are the more crack shit where most of my chaotic energy is found.
