my favorite part of watching the eclipse today wasn't even the eclipse itself (though that part was super cool!!) I just loved standing out on the sidewalk with what felt like every tourist and local and office worker in the city. everyone with their eclipse glasses on, taking pictures, being excited, watching and waiting together. it was such a cool vibe to be part of. I didn't have the glasses but a stranger noticed me milling around and offered me his to take a took. it was so cool.

one of the most difficult roadblocks i encounter when trying to introduce people to a lot of art i enjoy is that... silliness is for some reason a wildly disrespected or at least under-appreciated concept when present in art, more so than when done or witnessed spontaneously by individuals (people do regularly succumb to the desire to be silly at random). when artistic endeavors have a sort of absurd humor about them people seem to tune out instantly, and totally fail to absorb any of the additional themes, tones, concepts- anything at all from the art that might be present. and even if the whole of something is to be goofy and nothing more the general public seems to disrespect that, as if the emotion of nonsense joy or whimsy is unfamiliar, unhealthy, and undesirable. this is distinct from the attitude towards humor (something more associated with wit than silliness is), which is one of the most desirable traits in art today. all that to say i like stuff that's absurd and silly and goofy and it's very frustrating not so much that many people do not but that they simultaneously discount it's value artistically (and just generally). i do understand why, i think, which is because it's seen as childish and juvenile and people do actually grow up and end up preferring more.... "clever" forms of entertainment, but silliness is not the inferior form of amusement to a more grown-up wit. it's it's own thing. hell it's not even inherently childish- id consider much of the appeal of many classic horror movies to be a sort of morbid goofiness present throughout; not that horror is the only way to "mature" the concept, just to comment on how it's not exclusive to childhood and it's play. i know not everyone Doesn't Get It, and i'm 100% certain everyone get silly with it occasionally through their whole lives, but just... enough people, often enough, think like that, and it can get really annoying and mildly discouraging sometimes

B. A question that asks if you can love someone you’ve never met. How do you even get over that type of heartbreak? Who did Blackquill love? I mean, of course it was the Fulbright he knew, but how accurate was that performance? He can listen to anecdotes of the man, hear how his friends and family “had no idea” and “would’ve never guessed,” match these memories shared with him to his own impression, but he can never really know. Would he have been able to tell? Probably not. But to be given that chance and not know the difference—that could be enough. He can never get that chance now. Fulbright only exists in the past tense, and their relationship only exists in the hypothetical.

as much as there are things I don't like about modern fandom, one of the things I really love is what i see as a trend towards polyamory over ship wars. (a very broad strokes overgeneralized statement, for sure). I was thinking about this after realizing I have seen zero fanghua vs feihua discourse after starting the lotus casebook show and I think that's great.

Fun fact about me. When I was staring at and studying the art Partycoffin/Clown did of Wally to get an idea on how I wanted to draw him, I made a specific mental note that Wally's hair looked like "A weird squishy alien creature just sitting on his head."

at first i was gonna post that kind of stuff on this blog. but now it's basically a tma blog and i feel guilty when i post anything else. and i don't like having to stop myself from spamming silly posts about stories that would just pollute this blog and scare away the tma fans. but also if i made that blog, this one would only be about tma - and what do i do then once my tma phase is over?? i don't want to force myself to regularly post tma stuff either... i also don't think making a seperate blog for every single interest is the way tumblr works (i already have a blog about once upon a time and hazbin hotel)... what do i do???
