Season 2 is a great example of why not to let yourself get caught into a trap of your own ideas.

Did it make sense to kill Izzy off when they first thought of OFMD? For sure, probably, yes.

But "Kill Your Darlings" doesn't necessarily mean kill your beloved character at the time you always intended to.

It means step back. Allow your story room to breathe. Allow it to fuck off to become a pirate. Allow it to open an inn or sing la vie en rose to a crowd you once left for dead. Whatever. Just let it go.

Then come back, have a seat, and take the time to ask your story "is this right?" instead of telling it "this was always what you were meant to be."

pretty sure the Walgreens site is haunted or something, auto-refill of my prescriptions keeps getting turned on (I hadn't been turning it on, because I was trying to see if I could time it so that I wouldn't be refilling things a week apart and having to do a zillion trips or something) and with the location set as neither my home Walgreens (near my parents' house) or the one that I've been using since August (since I'm away at grad school), but rather the place that I went to once last summer for a mid-field season refill. The site is insisting that that one (in Missouri, which is decidedly not where I am now) is the last one I refilled at, despite the fact that. Uh. No, I've definitely been using the local one, the fuck kind of drugs is this site on?

I feel like one of the biggest signs that there's still misogyny in the Houses is the fact that they still use derogatory language for women. IIRC, Gideon calls Harrow a bitch a few times in GTN & Ianthe a skank in HTN, which are both...very charged terms (To be clear, I'm absolutely not trying to cancel Gideon here; she is 100% also a victim of misogyny & a victim in general. But I do wonder where a very isolated young woman learned those words and who was saying them)

oh yeah absolutely! see also, gideon calling alecto a slut in ntn. i don't really understand why people think that gideon would be using this highly gendered language and exclusively in reference to women unless there was still some level of misogyny in the nine houses. i guess irl people get desensitized to these words as gendered insults, but they really don't make sense as insults unless you live in a world with some level of ingrained misogyny, and gideon exclusively talks like that in reference to women as far as i remember. also, i agree with you anon that gideon is a victim of misogyny, but i suspect based on her using this language and generally being a teenager growing up in a society with some level of systemic sexism, that she (like most of us!) deals with a fair bit of internalized misogyny too.
