Rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and today’s new issue with the show is how Buffy is the “chosen” one who has no say in the matter, these old men in England all seem to think they own her, and all of them - including our boy Giles - get a salary for doing this, but for some reason Buffy is expected to support herself and her kid sister working at the Burger Palace, getting not a dime for all HER labor. No one questions this, even as the Council gets mad at her for going to college.

Hell, Faith is a teenage dropout living in a shitty motel with no support. No wonder she goes evil.

Re: "kill your darlings"

Season 2 is a great example of why not to let yourself get caught into a trap of your own ideas.

Did it make sense to kill Izzy off when they first thought of OFMD? For sure, probably, yes.

But "Kill Your Darlings" doesn't necessarily mean kill your beloved character at the time you always intended to.

It means step back. Allow your story room to breathe. Allow it to fuck off to become a pirate. Allow it to open an inn or sing la vie en rose to a crowd you once left for dead. Whatever. Just let it go.

Then come back, have a seat, and take the time to ask your story "is this right?" instead of telling it "this was always what you were meant to be."

The Penultimate Episode Episode 7

So Yang (PITTAYA SAECHUA aka DAOU) rejected and crushed Phumjai's (KANTAPON JINDATAWEEPHOL aka OFFROAD) because of a phone call that scared him enough to hurt Phumjai in order to protect him.

However, for me it fell a bit short. Yang's store is trashed and he is abducted and tied to a chair. The lead thug demands 1 million baht (according to internet that is over 27, 000 US dollars) or he has to work it off. They untie him and force him to load trucks. Yang is fearful enough to not to attempt escape so why tie him up to begin with.

Well at any rate Phumjai returns to a trash store and Yang's phone on the floor. He is terrified.

He calls his friends/employees and big brother Phojai. The police is called. They all rally around Phumjai who reveals Yang explained his debt situation while they were post lovemaking.

Yang sends a package to Phumjai's parents house with a code from their Chinese lessons.

Phumjai stubbornly goes looking for Yang alone and is almost caught. But mission accomplished he is reunited with Yang.

But previews for the finale show both Yang and Phumjai thrown to their knees in front of the man that had Yang tied up.

I think I’ve figured out why I’m frustrated with Mon Mothma’s characterization in Andor.

I still love the show, I still think they’re doing something interesting with it, I’m still looking forward to where they go with it, but what they’ve also done is nerfed her character.

In the movies and Aftermath, Mon is a powerhouse of a Senator, a founding member of the Rebellion who led with a strong sense of justice and duty. She goes on to lead the New Republic through its most difficult early years, through growing pains and multiple assassination attempts by Imperial holdouts and angry Republic Senators alike.

But in Andor, she’s not a leader. Luthen’s the leader, trying to bring the Rebel groups together; Mon’s just a moneylender. And even for that, she’s reliant on Tay Kolma and Davo Sculdun. Meanwhile, Perrin has control of the home - planning dinner parties without her involvement, spending his time with her enemies. There’s very few women in her life - Vel seems to be the only one - she doesn’t even seem to have friends.

For the main female character - the only main female character - she remains widely under the power of the men in her life.

It’s interesting seeing the Andor story shape up; it’s the story of sacrifice, about fascist powers and the price of rebellion. I’m hoping they’re headed towards a more powerful Mon, stepping up as Luthen and the others fall.

But I’m also just really tired of stories where the woman is on the back foot. And I was looking forward to something different with Mon Mothma, leader of the Rebel Alliance, finally getting some more screentime.

Maybe someday we’ll get a strong female leader who doesn’t need a man holding her hand, but apparently not in Andor.

I think that MLB has the potential to be one of those constantly rebootable serieses, so long as the core concept of the love square, CN&LB vs big miraculous-holder villian and some other key-ish characters are there as well (e.g Alya, Chloe, Kagami, Luka- in my opinion r key characters)

Like it would be really nice to see this concept done differently constantly. Maybe even short film concepts like the Chibi one but some that take on darker tones, or just alternative animation and storytelling techinques :3

It kinda reminds me of like- Ben10 or TMNT for example. With multiple versions over the years. I would hope MLB could grow into such a series! I completely believe in its potential as something influential and heartwarming for generations in the cartoon world 😩🤙🏻 Its just if Zagtoons will be open to this aaaaaa

additionally...its not like this series doesn't have its flaws 🥲🫠 I've always seen people mention how they think fans have written it better and I agree LOL, imagine how gOOD it would be if we had more iterations with less jarring issues like the current main series has. MLB wld be unstoppable lol

Hoping someone has a deep-nerd Buffyverse answer to this Buffy the Vampire Slayer question for me:

WHERE IS THE THIRD SLAYER?!

There can be Only One, so the lore goes. But then Buffy dies for 2 minutes, Xander & Angel bring her back, and the Universe triggers the choosing of Kendra anyway. It’s not like Buffy’s 2 minute death was reported and filed somewhere - she died and Kendra rose automatically because the universe knows when the Slayer dies. So.

Drusilla kills Kendra, and soon after Faith rolls into Sunnydale. Two Slayers again.

Then, Buffy sacrifices herself to save Dawn and the world at the end of Season 5. She stays dead for A HUNDRED AND FORTY SEVEN DAYS. That’s almost 5 months. Body dead and buried in consecrated soil. There is a clear opening for a new Slayer, and the universe had a lot of time to fill the position.

WHERE IS THE THIRD SLAYER, JOSS?!?!

And why didn’t she show up for the Season 7 apocalypse? Was she sitting on her ass in Cleveland? Did the Bringers kill her? Then there should be another Slayer AGAIN.

I want…nay, need answers.

THE BAD BATCH SEASON 2 EP 15/16 SPOILERS + SPECULATION

I’m not mad if Tech died, but I feel like his death was… idk just not like, tear jerking? Maybe that’s just me lol, I don’t usually cry during any shows really soooo… like I wouldn’t be mad if he was alive either. But for some reason, his climatic death wasn’t as climatic. I honestly don’t know where I’m going here lmao 💀 it’s just a feeling. Um lemme try to elaborate what I mean.

Like to me, Satine’s death hit harder. It’s just that, I feel like they could’ve made Tech’s death a bit sadder, (if they had given him more character development in season one especially) and then just have him STAY dead. How they would make it sadder? Honestly idk, I’d have to think of some detailed scenario, and to be clear, I’m too lazy so maybe some other time sorry 💀

However, characters constantly getting revived back and forth can get so tiring. I feel like it takes away from the emotional impact. For example in Mando, DON’T BRING BACK IG. He sacrificed himself for Grogu, leave it that way.

Now, for Tech, maybe if they had made his death more absolutely heartbreaking and SHOWED he’s dead, then please, keep him dead. Just keep him dead. But, his “death” here just wasn’t hittin’ it (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing if he is alive) so I hope they keep him alive because it wasn’t as impactful. And because it wasn’t as impactful, his death doesn’t feel honoured/significant/emotional(???) enough.

I mean we’ve seen similar things before:

What could possibly happen is they may turn Tech into a phase 0 dark trooper. I’m sure if he survived that fall, he broke a few bones and probably lost a limb or two due to devastating damage. A perfect test subject.

Also, Emerie being a clone was interesting and shocking, but kinda weird because I feel like it takes away from the uniqueness that is Omega. Omega being OMEGA is what’s so special about her, now I don’t feel that as much. Plus, as amazing as the Crosshair episodes were… man am I disappointed we didn’t see a lot of him. He’s by far the best character and I wish they did more… maybe in season 3..?

Anyway, this is MY OPINION please don’t take this personally I am NOT hating. Just my observation. If you want, lmk what you think by adding a comment or something.

rewatching Naruto, and every gap between the rewatches, I forget just how many flashbacks there are in this show, and then I'm slapped by it when I rewatch it again.

70-80% of this show is recap, and I'm not even exaggerating lol Kimimaro has a flashback to shit that happened in the same episode during his fight with Gaara XD

Like I'm not kidding when I say they show us the exact same flashback at least twice not even ten minutes apart in that fight
