Thinking about Breath of the Wild Zelda who, once the Calamity is over, feels hesitant to go near any civilization. Link sort of understands, replaying the words her father said in his mind:

"Do you know what the gossip mongers refer to you? They are out there, at this moment, whispering amongst themselves that you are the heir to a throne of nothing. Nothing but failure."

There really is no avoiding the truth of the matter: she did fail. So many people perished because she couldn't access her power in time.

But so did he.

Link ran away from Hyrule Castle once he realized the Divine Beasts were not coming to help defeat the Calamity. He gave up on his mission before it ever truly began. By Zelda's logic, the people should have hated him too.

But the stories the people today tell of him, the songs that Kass sings, show that he was so cherished and loved. They remembered him for 100 years.

And if they could forgive him for what he did, then it can only be ascertained that they would forgive her too.

He stokes the campfire they've made at one of the makeshift campsites and murmurs,

"They'll love you. Promise."

He thinks it goes unheard, as most of his words tended to in the distant past, but her ears flick ever so slightly, rosy in the firelight.

"I hope so," she whispers back, pulling her knees closer to her.

Rating how comfortable all the beds in botw look

PART ONE

Quick side note - tysm for all the likes, I appreciate it very much. To put how I feel right now into words, I would say that I feel like a silly little court jester who has done a silly little dance and now people like me

Shrine Of Resurrection

2/10 - would NOT recommend

◍All that fog in the beginning of the game is just condensation

◍looks like it's made for one specific height

◍ain't nobody over 5'3 fitting in there

◍no way that water isn't FREEZING cold after 100 years

◍how am I supposed to be the Hero Of Hyrule™ if I'm sleeping in cold water??

Uh oh hero of Hyrule caught a cold better tell ganon to take a week off terrorising everyone ig

◍at least the coldness would wake me up

Old Man's House

1/10 - would NEVER recommend

◍Lumpy "mattress"

◍the blanket looks so thin that an A4 piece of paper would be more warm

◍At least rhoam tried

But tbh the tried and fell like a cartoon character slipping on a comically placed banana peel

Hateno Village Bed

8/10 - would recommend

◍Looks like it would keep me warm on a cold rainy day

◍Sturdy and reliable bedframe

◍Cute and fresh bedsheets

Link's House Bed

5/10 - would recommend but at your own risk

◍cozy looking

◍Does not smell the best

You gotta think about how many times link has gone to bed without taking a bath (if he even does) and if he takes his dirty and/or sweaty armour off when he goes to bed (which I don't think he does tbh)

◍Cute bedsheets

◍Again, sturdy and reliable bedframe

◍Link might kill you if he catches you tho

Purah's Bed

7/10 -would recommend if you're small

◍Extra bouncy and fluffy bedsheets

◍tbh I really like the frilly edges

◍comfy as hell

◍Will have Purah asking you to leave tho

Goron City Bed

2/10 - wouldn't recommend

◍this looks like it's the root cause of back problems

◍yk that goron that has u get his ibuprofen bc of his back?? This is why

◍Can't smell bad cause the only thing u would be able to smell is ur burning nose hair

Tarrey Town Bed

7/10 - would recommend

◍Comfortable? Yes. Cozy? Not so much

I know that they're the same word but in my mind, there's a clear distinction between comfortable and cozy

◍cool and fresh bedsheets

◍bed would move if you did something tho, so not sturdy or reliable, it's literally just stacked planks of wood

The Silent Princess

The Silent Princess, trapped in her little pot, must grow beyond the little space she was given. That is what she was told she must do, by her caretaker. He gives her everything he knows she needs, yet she is still confined to the pot.

The poor Silent Princess. Her roots stretch past the soil that holds them, unable to be contained by the ever shrinking room she has in her pot. The caretaker does what he can to help her. He pushes her roots back into the dirt and covers them, for a flower cannot bloom if its roots are exposed to the dangers of this world.

It is not enough.

One day, the pot is shattered. She is too late. She is helpless. Still, her roots spread through the open earth, and she blooms.

The horrors she must now face may silence her.

But she is free.

Link: fairly obvious, fighter. I could also see ranger, but he has the solder background so…

Zelda: sorcerer, but after she loses her powers I see her as a wizard or rouge

Mipha: cleric for sure, probably a more water style tempest, life, or light. She can use a trident because of a racial trait or something.

Revali: umm… fighter I guess?? I don’t know we what else would work. Plus it adds to his and Link’s rivallry (revalink go brr)

Daruk: I’m gonna go with barbarian, cause he just gives those vibes. He reminds me of Karlach in Baldur Gate 3.

Urbosa: I could see barbarian, but I’m gonna go with a pact of the blade warlock. A strength based warlock. Cause of the seven warriors that the gerudo worship. She has no bad stats. Just a fact.

Rhoam: he’s a paladin. (He’s a evil paladin, abusive bastard)

Guilty as Ganon - Epilogue

“Father?” Zelda clutched her belly, newly freed from its corset. “Why did you make Link and I out to be that way?”

Her father sighed, and could not look her in the eye. He hadn't wished to follow procedure on the matter, but he also desired his daughter's wellbeing and safety. “You know there is protocol for such matters. Something like this cannot be swept under a rug.”

“You referred to Link and I as prostitutes! As if we'd shamed the very kingdom.”

“I had little choice. The law dictates that should a royal woman become pregnant without explanation, her and any males who were with her unaccompanied must stand trial. If you had taken your entire guard to the Spring of Power, I would have charged all of them in addition to Link.”

“I gave you an explanation. The Goddess demanded it done of us right there.”

“And if you had come forward with that information immediately upon returning to the Castle, we could have avoided this.” The King sighed, finally looking in his daughter's direction. “When I saw you like that, and then for you to act so defensive and secretive… I feared the worst had befallen you.”

“Father, you know Link.”

“Yes, I know Link. You know Link. But the fact of the matter is, because you would not come forward about it, I could not prove that the Spring of Power underneath the Goddess’ direction was where it happened! I could not prove that it was Link who'd made you with child, and I could not prove an absence of ill intent. You know how the people think of your knight and his people during the spring season. Nothing less than infallible evidence could convince them otherwise.”

She felt his eyes in hers. Her father was right. Her desire to protect Link had only worsened affairs for all of them.

“And you know there's policy we must follow if we wish to wed. I appreciate you wishing to honor your husband, but an elopement is not the correct way to do so. And I am disappointed in Urbosa and the others for working off your fear.”

Tears burned in her eyes. “I was afraid… afraid you'd have Link executed.”

“I almost did have Link executed!” His royal voice boomed through the chamber. “I thought he raped you!”

Zelda couldn't respond. The chamber fell eerily quiet. Then, she broke out into a wailing sob.

Though it was not becoming of a king, and though he'd scolded Link for doing so just days before, Rhoam wrapped his daughter in his arms. “I forgive you, Zelda. And I'm sorry for whatever I did that had you believe you couldn't trust me.”

She felt better. It had been so long since she'd been held like this.

There was no reason to scold her. No reason to be a king now. He hated that they'd been left in this situation, that they'd been stuck at odds for ten long years. There would come a time for duty, later. Now, the doors were closed. Their respective guards outside the door. Just him and his daughter.

“I'm sorry, Father…”

“I've forgiven you, Zelda.” He finally released her, now that she was not trembling so violently. “Please, if someone tries to hurt you, let me know. I'm the king. I may have to be harsh with you when you don't want me to be, but I can make sure that anyone who hurts you never sees an ounce of joy. You understand, Zelda?”

“I understand… Father.”

Rhoam wasn't sure if the expression on her face could qualify as a smile. For this moment, he wasn't going to expect a smile out of her. In trying to be a good Royal Family, in trying to serve all their subjects, the law had forced them to vilify themselves and each other. He'd try harder. He should've tried harder to begin with. That was a mistake. But he looked at her now: fresh tears streaking down her flushed face, her trembling upper body, the curves in her torso that had drilled such cold fear into him but he now smiled upon… He'd brought this upon her the very moment her name was bestowed. He prayed to Hylia that her child would bear any other name. It would not be fair on her to pray for a grandson, he'd brought enough unfairness onto her, but he could pray that whichever Zelda would bring into the world in only two seasons… that they would be free of the chains that bound both him and Zelda. He knew she prayed for the same. Perhaps this was the Goddess’ way of giving them hope. Another way out.

His daughter asked for his hand in standing, he braced her back as well. “So you're not… going to banish Link and our child?”

“Of course not. We will move on from here. When you are ready, I think the kingdom could use a celebration in these dark times.”

She finally smiled. “I'd like that very much, Father.”

“I would too.”
