Random shit with Gem and Sevika (because brain rot I suppose)
Tumblr media
Gem knows every kid in the area, Sevika knows (nearly) every adult in the area
“So remember that Zak kid?” “….The kid with the glasses?” “No, that’s Cedric, Zak is the kid with the mask and broken arm” “I thought that was a girl!” “I mean, he screams like a girl too”
Sevika has to hold Gem’s hand at night before Gem sleeps so then she doesn’t freak out when she wakes up
Despite Gem being snarky and tough for her age, she often gets picked on (not that she cares, but Dorthy does get dragged in by the other older kids)
Gem is afraid of the dark (HEAVILY in denial about it)
Sevika once found Gem hiding in her cloak (how did she not notice? Who the fuck knows man), so Gem just had to stick with her to work
Gem doesn’t really have dreams when she sleeps, but when she does, it’s usually just nightmares
(Not sure if I’ve mentioned this or not) Gem has a mild speech impediment
Gem’s favorite out of all the Silco goons has to be Renni, Finn and Smeech (she likes messing around with him and hearing stories (most of the stories Sevika is SICKK of hearing 💀) )
Tumblr media
honestly have no idea what’s going on in the brain but I’m loving it
(Edit; I FORGOT TO TAG PEOPLE FUCK @puffymucher @archangeldyke-all @schmoni @kapilesque )

SO this is a day late; whoops, I meant to post this on New Years' Eve
I did this last year and wanted to do it again! So here’s a list that no one asked for of the top 10 anime series I watched this year, including two honorable mentions. They are ranked from (in my opinion) best to worst!
Animes I Watched This Year:
Arcane: League of Legends
Tumblr media
IDK if this counts as an anime, but I love it so much that I’m including it anyway.
Literally my favorite animated show of all time.
It beats out Moriarty the Patriot, Demon Slayer, all of the animes.
People who have been following me since my Arcane obsession began know of my love for Viktor.
He’s my favorite and deserves the world.
But the show is stunning; every shot is amazing, the music is astounding, and everything about it is breathtaking!
Jujutsu Kaisen 0
Tumblr media
Ok, I saw this in theaters, and I wanted to cry because it’s so beautiful.
I already owned the manga and had read it, and the fact that I love the movie more than the manga is something to consider.
There was never a boring moment in the movie, all the characters were memorable (with the exception of very few), and I absolutely adore Yuta.
Like, I already loved Geto because of that flashback arc we had in the manga, but Yuta beat him, he beat Gojo, and he beat everyone in the entire anime as my favorite except for maybe Inumaki.
This was truly Yuta’s movie, and I can’t wait for season 2!
Demon Slayer Season 2
Tumblr media
THIS SHOW BLEW MY EXPECTATIONS OUT OF THE WATER
The CGI used was absolutely amazing. THIS IS HOW CGI SHOULD BE USED PEOPLE TAKE NOTES
Uzui is actually my favorite Hashira, save for Iguro (my least favorite is Rengoku, don’t come for me) so seeing a season dedicated to him was great.
I own all the manga, and this was one of my favorite arcs, so seeing it animated was like a birthday present.
Bungou Stray Dogs: WAN!
Tumblr media
THIS SHOW IS SO CUTE, BUT ALSO MADE ME CRY WTF
Like episode 10? Had me pretty much bawling my eyes out
I also watched it in dub which was also a treat. I really like the BSD dub, and this was no exception.
Someone, please talk about it with me.
Like I can’t.
I need someone to cry with.
Spy x Family
Tumblr media
Normally slice-of-life shows aren’t my thing.
But this one is the exception!
This show is so fun, so colorful, and so just utterly amazing that I can’t help but want to rewatch it a bunch!
I don’t have any complaints about it. It’s just at number 5 cause I love the other shows more.
Chainsaw Man
Tumblr media
So I’m collecting the manga right now.
I already read it online and remember pretty much none of it.
This is what I get for reading it during finals week lmao
But the show is so cool!
It helps refresh my memory of what happens and every moment (save for the first kiss) is animated so beautifully!
They use CGI really well, with very few moments looking awkward or just out of pace.
This is only down at the halfway mark because it hasn’t gotten to my favorite part of the manga yet, so I can’t accurately judge how much I’ll love my favorite parts.
The Case Study of Vanitas Season 2
Tumblr media
THIS IS SUCH A PRETTY SHOW
The only reason it’s down this far is because I didn’t actually finish season 2.
I didn’t even see the final fight between everyone and the Beast of Gevaudan, or however you spell it
So I really can’t judge this show until I finish the entire thing, haha
Blue Exorcist
Tumblr media
I’M ONLY ON EPISODE THREE AND HAVEN’T SEEN IT SINCE 2014 DON’T COME FOR ME
I’m watching it in English Dub, and I think this is the only role that I actually like Bryce Papenbrook in. Anything else, and he just comes across as slightly annoying, but I really like him as Rin!
But this show is such a nostalgia trip. It’s great to rewatch, and the animation holds up really well!
Also, the opening is one of my favorites. I absolutely adore it.
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress
Tumblr media
This one is so bizarre, but I still really enjoy it.
Like the premise is so cool, and the animation is great!
It just fell kind of flat.
They just needed more episodes to really explore everything they wanted to, but overall, 7/10 would recommend it to someone looking for a short but fun watch!
High Rise Invasion
Tumblr media
I’m not even done with episode 1, but I already really enjoy the guy with the sniper rifle. I think he’s called Sniper Mask?
Anyway, the whole bit at the beginning of that one cop or whatever trying to make the main girl take off her clothes wasn’t the best.
It is part of what brought it down to number ten.
The other part is just that I haven’t finished it.
I’m noticing a trend with my watching habits, lol
Honorable Mentions
Sk8 the Infinity
Literally, the only thing beating this out of my top ten list is Adam.
I actually had this idea of writing a story of a detective from America coming to Japan and arresting him because that was hilarious to me, and he didn’t deserve the ending he got.
He deserved much worse, and no one can change my mind.
Millionaire Detective: Balance Unlimited
Oh. My. Gosh. This show was SO BORING
I CANNOT
I WAS DYING
The first couple of episodes were really fun and jazzy and whatever, but by the end, I was doing literally everything I could just not to watch it.

To celebrate making it through 2022, I thought I'd go over a few of the books and media that I enjoyed the most this year, so that others might be able to enjoy them in the next. A round-up of sorts, and a chance to reflect as well.
We can start with books, since we all love them. I've been driving a lot more in 2022 than I had in previous years, since I go to activities that are all a 30 minute drive away, and audiobooks have been what's let me eat up those highway miles.
I read 27 books (all fiction) this year, totalling 14,000 pages! That's more than I would have thought, reflecting back, but I think I enjoyed almost all of them.
I'll start with some honorable mentions, books that I really enjoyed, but aren't superlative enough for me to laud them unreservedly.
For series:
I have a few honorable mention series:
The Bone Witch is a trilogy by Rin Chupeco about a geisha-like society of mages, the politics of nations, and undead 3-headed dragons. Told in a twin narrative of present and past, it kept me on the edge of my seat. Emily Woo Zeller is one of the narrators, and I love her style, so it was a fun romp! There even is representation with a trans secondary character and a queer couple of sidekicks.
The Stormlight Archive: Brandon Sanderson's ginormous sprawling fantasy epic was a good way to let my audible credits catch up when I was finishing shorter books too quickly. There's so much going on in his worlds. I don't think I can give any real synopsis of the books without that taking over this post, so I won't even try.
The First Sister Trilogy by Linden A. Lewis: A very queer space series with post-apocalyptic humanity that's spread out in the inner solar system, with creepy religions, cybernetic dystopias and a looming AI. It's world-building was knocked out of the park.
And for single books, the honorable mentions are:
The City of Dusk, by Tara Sim: Technically this is also a series, but only the first book is out. The four heirs (and some younger siblings) of the magic houses in an isolated realm fight their gods. I read it back in May, so I don't remember it perfectly, but it was very fun.
Ocean's Echo, by Everina Maxwell: A gay disaster failson learns to become competent at the edge of a sword, and uncovers space mysteries while being infected by alien tech, fighting of a coup, and falling madly in love with a soldier.
Two one-off books (or firsts in series) that I really enjoyed, and are superlatively well-crafted are:
Iron Widow, by Xiran Jay Zhao:
Mecha Sci-Fi with a deep re-imagining of Chinese History and Mythology creates a great backdrop for a power fantasy gone-wrong. A ruthless girl who's mental fortitude is her greatest strength starts with a quest for revenge on the mech pilot who killed her sister by over-taxing her mind in a battle.
As she undermines the misogynistic dynamics of their society, she has to amass a powerbase and acquires a ride-or-die OT3. This is probably the single most fun book of the year. Definitely a lot of cackling with glee while listening to it in the car.
The Unbroken, by C.L. Clark:
A dark post-colonial story about a soldier who was conscripted by the colonizing nation and only now returning to her homeland for the first time as an adult. When she stops an assassination attack on the princess by a member of the local resistance, all hell breaks loose. As she and the princess navigate the fractured landscape and their even more fraught ties to their families, we get a very intimate and visceral view at the brutality of empire.
There are magics at the outskirts of the world, and the dueling powers of civilization and the arcane is just one of the many fronts in this war.
To me, this story has one of the pinnacles of a well-executed enemies-to-lovers arcs. I whole-heartedly recommend it. If not for the series I'll talk about next, this would have been my favorite book of 2022.
My two superlative series are:
Rook & Rose (starting with The Mask of Mirrors), by M.A. Carrick:
I've talked about these ones at length. They've probably become my favorite books of all time. M.A. Carrick is the pen name for a duo of writers: Marie Brennan and Alyc Helms. Infused with many magics, the city-state of Nadežra provides a gloriously tense backdrop for a colonial conflict, a long con, intrigue and masquerade parties.
Pulling off a main character with dual identities is no mean feat, but it's done exceedingly well, and I just cannot emphasize enough how much you all just have to read these books if they sound like they might float your boat.
The Serpent Gates (starting with The Unspoken Name), by A.K. Larkwood:
This is another series I've not been able to suppress my urge to recommend. I'll include my previous recommendation blurb, because I don't think I can top that now:
A story about someone raised to be a sacrifice to their god, breaking free from their programming and learning to have a life of her own, it's really well done and the prose, while a little odd at first, really helps sell it as it subtly changes throughout the book.
Alchemical airships link dying worlds across a labyrinthine realm and connect different fantasy races with their own gods, cultures and magics.
The writer is in a writing group with Tamsyn Muir, the author of the The Locked Tomb books, and there are definitely some underpinnings that bring them together.

"holy shit toots" she says with a dreamy look on her face
pulls lightly on it to test how you'd react, and lets out a pleased 'hum' when you whimper
from then on she'll always ask you to wear a leash around the house so she can boss you around and play with it
will absolutely draw all over it, with little flowers and her name on the front
pulls on it as you ride her thigh, and swallows your moans with kisses
| vi
she mentioned it once to you, but she didn't actually think you were gonna do it
you look so pretty like that, on your knees, completely exposed to her, only thing adorning your body the beautiful pink leash around your neck
puts you on all fours and fucks you like her life depends on it, pulling on the leash with just the right amount of pressure to make you feel dizzy
calls you puppy
makes you beg for it, on your knees, her hand enveloped by the pink leash, a smug look on her face

mommy? sorry. mommy? sorry
buys you a very expensive one, with a bunch of little details on it and made of a very soft material, thinking about your comfort
makes you sit on her lap with the leash on as she works, and she pets your head as you cuddle her
calls you 'pet'
praises you all the time, wants you to feel comfortable and happy throughout the whole ordeal
| ekko
develops a choking kink after he fucks you with the leash on for the first time
doesn't really get the appeal on wearing it, but if you find it hot, he finds it hot too
"who's a good girl huh? who's a good girl? is it you? is it? yes it is"
makes you beg for his praise as he lightly slaps your face
he acts like it's a secret, and if you mention it outside of the privacy of your bedroom, he'll get completely flushed
| silco
makes you wear it in the middle of a meeting, pulling lightly on it whenever he feels bored so you can come closer and entertain him
calls you "my bitch", lightly petting your head, a soft smile on his face at your soft whimpers
has multiple models of leashes, and keeps ordering more because he just loves to see you wear them
has a weak spot for your neck a hundred percent
| viktor
"what is the exact purpose of this, dear?"
takes him a while to understand why you'd want to wear it, but soon he understands
asks jayce to let him have the lab once a week, so you can wear it and hang out while he works
teases you in this very monotone voice, asking you to tell him exactly what you want while holding the leash
will pretend you're not super horny and just act like nothing is happening, his fingers inside of you

13? (Story about a mentor)
As you didn't specify an OC, I rolled a d8 and came out with Kellandra Rhiannon L'Rue. I also tried to add a second part to make this less depressing... but alas, it didn't work. Please enjoy, and thanks for the prompt!
Universe: TESIV: Oblivion CW: Alcohol mention, self-esteem issues Words: 510 Tagging:  @corkytheguar @strosmkai-rum @arcane-elder-scrolls
Tumblr media
"I don't think he thought of himself as anyone's mentor, let alone that of some scruffy kid from Bravil." It's said into a cup of mulled wine, in front of the Temple's Great Fire. Without, the wind howls a frozen gale and pelts snow against the building. The next morn will see snow to the height of a Nord's thigh – but that is for tomorrow. For now, those not huddled into furs and taking the night watch are instead huddled around the fire. Benches and a table have been hauled closer to facilitate said huddling, with thick blankets purloined from the stores. The hour is late enough to be after dinner but yet early enough that no one is inclined to turn in and brave the cold stone floor of the barracks.
Martin's champion has found herself wedged between Ferrum, who sits astride the end of the bench oiling his armour, and Jena, whose head lolls against a dusky shoulder. "You're not just some scruffy kid." This from Fortis on the second bench, pressed against the table corner where Cyrus is beating him at Nine Men's Morris. "Not now, I'm not," Rhiannon says. "But you just ask Baurus – or Jauffre! – what they thought of me then." "Not his Majesty?" The tone is halfway between jest and curiosity. "Not his Majesty."
The gale and the fire's crackle fill the sudden well of silence until Jena prods her noble pillow. "You never answered the question," she says. "What was Archmage Traven – Arkay rest his bones – like as a mentor?" "He was-" Rin rubs at her chest, as though at an ache. The fire pops, spitting an ember out of the grate. She puts it out with a leather-clad toe, smearing soot as she speaks. "He was kind. Distantly complementary. Apologetic for the circumstances that finally drew me into his presence. Didn't seem too bothered that most of my Art was Alchemical, and I hardly knew the other Schools. "But everything was rushed. No sooner was I back in the Mages' council chamber from my latest endeavour than he was sending me away for some other task." Her expression lightens, eyes distant. "Still, my learning wasn't completely abandoned, though it was piecemeal. Busy-work and suggestions between thither and yon. "He'd pass me tomes as he hurried me out the door," Rin deepens her voice in mimicry of the past Archmage, "'I expect a critique of the author's methods by your return'. Or, 'while I consult with the council, you will make the preparation described in chapter three, with accompanying research for each ingredient. Julienne Fanis will grade you'. Sometimes just a simple, 'learn this spell, and compile an accompanying essay of precepts for usage'." Rin shakes her head with a juddering sigh. "It was far too scattershot to be real. I may have thought myself his mentee, but as I said – I don't believe he thought himself my mentor." She falls silent again, and Jena presses closer in a wordless hug. The wooden game pieces clack on their board, and the jug of wine is passed around to the murmurs of her colleagues.
Tumblr media
Bonus (because it ended up on the cutting room floor, but I thought it was amusing): Literature reviews from an aspie devout of the Nine
"Which was the most useless book he told you to read – and I mean told, not requested?" Baragon asks. Rin gives a shrug. "Banker's Bet by Porbert Lyttumly. While Bankers Bet had some base humour, it was ultimately devoid of any real merit. Lyttumly's The Locked Room was a much more worthy book, with a clear moral undertone and a satisfying ending."

hi rin, if the characters of ascension and oathbreaker were to meet, who do you think would be best friends with who? (e.g. aida and thyia) by the way i love your work, and i hope you're doing well!!
Oooh, let’s see!
Zander & Alwenn would instantly hit it off. They would talk about magical theory, and arcane academical papers and stuff. They’d be nerdy pals.
Argandea and Jace would be the trouble duo. They would get drunk and make silly jokes nobody else would understand.
Faelern and Lea would be silent buddies together. Watching others and judging them together. Also bow/arrow buddies.
Thyia and Tillie would get along really well. Til would teach her funky alchemy recipes and Thyia would occasionally try to flirt with her only to be slapped with an “I’m married” each time. Also, both moms, so there would be lots of baby talk too.
Raelan and Aida would talk about ruling kingdoms, how shitty the nobility is, and murderous family members. She would also keep mentioning how much he looks like her late father.
Virion and Diego would get along really really well. They would mainly talk about the good wine at the Silk and betraying their kings.
Sky and Marianne would become best friends in a matter of seconds. They have a lot in common!
Seena and Mini best friends growing up together. Watching ducks, painting, playing hide & seek.
I don’t see Theo getting along with anyone in the Ascension universe, and I don’t see Kole getting along with anyone in the OB universe. So, they would be like standing in a corner not talking to each other while everyone else is having a great time.

Wings’ adolescent art dump! Part eight of ???: Tural!
And here we have Harpy’s twin brother, Tural! His name is taken from Turul, a mythical Hungarian bird of prey. Because’s that’s just how I did things.
Tural didn’t come about until a friend and I started messing with Harpy as a main character in that unnamed second story. Unlike her, he’s very shy and level-headed, and was skilled at medicine and first aid. It’s only because of him that Harpy survived attaching her wings; he managed to handle the mess and get her stable enough to get to Dairus, the doctor (who will be in a future photo set).
He’s very cute and I love him a lot. He also had a love interest in Eileen, a girl from a wealthy family.
The fourth picture was inspired by that IB Art piece of Harpy I mentioned, which features a ribbon reading ‘Alis Volat Propriis’, or ‘She flies with her own wings’. I wanted to do similar, smaller pieces for the other characters, but I didn’t get very far. There’s one more you’ll see in a later photo set.
Harpy is not naked in that seventh picture I swear.
You can read the text by clicking on the pictures, with the longer ones being written below.
Fourth: (1) Beati Pacifici (2) We still need to settle on Boris’ design before I can finish this. (3) I need to re-work Tural’s face (4)
Tural: Blessed are the peacemakers Boris: Discordant harmony Arcane: Fortune favors the brave
(5) Concordia Discors (6) Fortes Fortuna Iuvat
Eighth: (1) Trying to imitate the style from Len’s ‘The Riddle Solver who can’t solve Riddles’ (2) “...Because” (3) “Why am I in a dress?” (4) Tural and Harpy just are so perfect for Len and Rin’s songs

Alyssa sits sprawled out on one of Kat's couches, a book on basic enchantments open in her lap. A glance up from her reading. "Never asked about y'rings," a vague gesture as if to indicate the pair the Director wears on opposing middle fingers. "One o'them's obviously magic in some way, they're both gorgeous. Can I ask what they do?"
Tumblr media
Sitting on the opposite end of the couch, Kat’s legs were stretched out to the floor, crossed at the ankles where Dog had curled up beside the bare feet. A glass of whiskey balanced on the arm of the couch, slender digits gingerly holding the rim, the other hand keeping an age old book on war tactics propped open on the thigh. The last hour spent in a comfortable silence between the two, a small smirk touching the Director’s lips as Alyssa broke it first.
“They both are, actually.” She answered modestly, folding the book closed and turning her attention to her companion. “Gifts from friends.”
The left hand lifted, showing off the ring that adorned the middle digit. A thick golden band with runes of titan origin running the entire circumference. Nested in the center lived a large dark stone, the interior of the gem alive and swirling with void energy, twisting and turning on itself in a form of stasis. Housing around the stone made of more runes and glyphs that linked back to the Titans.
“Got this one from Roxlyn, which came as a large surprise at the time. Wusn’ always the nicest to that woman, even if I trusted her to look after Rin before she moved the shop t’Boralus and Rin stayed back. Roxie knew about my condition and why I can’t get so near to Ren’dorei, didn’ stop her from constantly steppin’ too close or tryin’ t’touch me all the same. Sort of m’fault I guess, did threaten her with shadowy bondage when we met.” A soft snort and shake of the head as the memory came to mind. “Anyways, she hunted this thing down for…Void I don’ even know how long. It’s imbued with her very essence and sort of negates the effects I suffer from the Rens. Lets us be near each other…and touch, which I’m sure wus her intention.”
Pushing the stray raven locks behind the ear Kat turned in the seat, bringing the right hand up next. The ring on the finger a bright silver with intricate arcane detailing running around the band. A small ruby stone set into the silver at the top.
“This one is much more simple in comparison. Charged with a teleportation spell, all I do is touch the stone and speak a word of power. Holds a single charge so I only get one use out of it before I gotta get it recharged. Helpful in a pinch, saved m’life a few times.”

Hearthstone: Predicting the 2018 Hall of Fame Class
Hearthstone is about to change in a big way. In addition to Update 10.2, which will nerf several of the game's big staples from the recent Kobolds & Catacombs expansion, there's expected to be a new set cards inducted to the Hearthstone Hall of Fame. These are cards from the Classic set deemed a little too valuable to a variety of decks. Let's define this using Blizzard's own words from the 2017 Battle.net post:
When cards show up too frequently in decks and are considered auto-includes, deck-building becomes more limited. Deck variety stagnates, potentially interesting build-around cards fall by the wayside, and the gameplay experience begins to feel less dynamic. Most cards should feel like situational additions to a deck, depending on the deck archetype the player is trying to build.
With that goal in mind, the Standard meta said goodbye to Azure Drake, Sylvanas Windrunner, Ragnaros the Firelord, Power Overwhelming, Ice Lance, and Conceal.
With another set rotation set to hit in the next couple of months, Blizzard will likely seek to send another batch of Classic cards away to Wild. And barring a change in philosophy, it'll likely follow the same ideas as last time. Those parameters include:
Three Neutral cards and three class-based cards
Cards that are used excessively
Cards that hinder future design, because its players would rather use it than try newer decks, cards or strategies
Seeking to follow those parameters, Shacknews is going to take a stab in the dark at what the next batch of Hall of Fame cards will be. These guesses also take into the account the next batch of nerfs set to kick in later this week.
(3) Ice Block Type: Spell Class: Mage Rarity: Epic Secret: When your hero takes fatal damage, prevent it and become Immune this turn.
This is an easy one, mostly because Blizzard has already hinted at this themselves in a previous blog post explaining Update 9.1. Ice Block has become something of a crutch for a lot of Mage players. Originally, Ice Block was meant to give players one last chance. Either win on this turn or face defeat.
But with newer cards released in the past year, Ice Block has gone from a spell that grants players one last chance to a spell that opens the door for ridiculous comebacks. Frost Lich Jaina is the main culprit, allowing for Elementals to siphon health from enemy Heroes and minions. Ice Block allows for players to get themselves out of lethal range, which likely wasn't what the spell was originally designed to do. Arcane Artificer exacerbated this problem, allowing Mage players to pick up high Armor totals on the following turn after their Ice Block was activated.
Ice Block is safe to head off into the Hall of Fame, just because Frost Lich Jaina and Arcane Artificer can help keep the Mage in a close game. It'll also discourage the strategy of sitting on an Artificer until the Ice Block gets popped, pushing those Mage players into more strategic uses of its ability.
(5) Doomguard (5/7) Type: Minion - Demon Class: Warlock Rarity: Rare Charge. Battlecry: Discard two random cards.
The writing is on the wall for Warlock players, simply because they escaped the Update 10.2 nerfs completely unscathed. That should hint at Blizzard having grander plans to nerf the Cubelock deck and that will likely mean sending this long-time Warlock staple off into Wild.
The Cubelock deck type is a proven winner, packing the current meta at an alarming rate. It's the combination of the Carnivorous Cube with the aforementioned Doomguard that makes it entirely possible to wipe out opponents in a single turn. It's all too easy, thanks to Skull of the Man'ari/Possessed Lackey and the low-cost Dark Pact. It's a parade of 5/7 Demons with charge, without the drawback of discarding two cards.
Sending Doomguard into Wild forces Cubelock players to rethink they way they work. The deck type wouldn't be entirely dead, but the one-turn kill strategy would be. These Warlock players would have to veer towards a more control-oriented style, which is entirely do-able with tools like Hellfire, Amethyst Spellstone, Defile, and Twisting Nether still available. That's without even mentioning the big, burly Voidlord that has become a regular part of the Warlock's arsenal. Warlock would stay a potent class, but it wouldn't be the dominant force that it is on the current Ranked ladder.
(5) Nourish Type: Spell Class: Druid Rarity: Rare Choose One - Gain 2 Mana Crystals; or Draw 3 cards.
The Ramp Druid has become incredibly powerful and even with the Jade Druid's reign of terror set to end with the next Standard rotation, there's still something to say about ramping up to 10 Mana Crystals quickly and bopping the opponent with Ultimate Infestation. Rumors of a curbed Ramp Druid have been making the rounds, with at least one of the Druid's tools rumored to go away. Wild Growth has been a lot of people's guesses, but I'm going to veer in a slightly different direction.
Nourish is another card that shows up in nearly every single Druid deck and is arguably more valuable than Wild Growth, especially in later turns. More and more, Druid players have been using it to bump themselves up by two Mana Crystals and if it shows up in a late draw, it draws them three cards and refreshes their hand, getting them right back in the game.
The Druid player still has plenty of tools to ramp up in the early game with Wild Growth and the newer Greedy Sprite. And for late card draw, Ultimate Infestation offers more than enough. Nourish seems too much like overkill and feels like a prime candidate to get sent off to Wild.
(4) Spellbreaker (4/3) Type: Minion Class: Neutral Rarity: Common Battlecry: Silence a minion.
Hearthstone designers have frowned on Silence effects in the past, dating as far back as two years ago when they bopped a handful of Classic cards. The original explanation for the Ironbeak Owl and Keeper of the Grove nerfs was that the team didn't want to combine a Silence effect with efficient stats. Spellbreaker has flown in the face of this philosophy for years and it may be on the verge of getting whacked.
With Ironbeak Owl no longer viable because of its 2/1 stats, Spellbreaker has become a key minion in a number of decks. Hunters, Warlocks, Priests, and pretty much any aggro deck will run this 4-cost Silence machine to remove a Taunt obstacle and clear their path to victory. They can also use it to Silence minions with powerful effects, like a Bonemare target or Rin, the First Disciple.
With so many end-of-turn and Deathrattle effects, Spellbreaker is practically an automatic inclusion, which is just the kind of thing that Blizzard was looking to prevent. I'd expect Spellbreaker to head off into Wild and for players to be presented a choice: Do they want the Silence effect so bad that they're willing to take a chance on the nerfed Ironbeak Owl or will they find a different way to counter some of these effects?
(6) Gadgetzan Auctioneer (4/4) Type: Minion Class: Neutral Rarity: Rare Whenever you cast a spell, draw a card.
There is no deck type that has come back from the dead more often than Miracle Rogue. Even after Gadgetzan Auctioneer was nerfed the first time, the Miracle Rogue just kept on trucking. Even with the removal of Conceal, the Miracle Rogue somehow still survived. It's reached a point where it looked like Miracle Rogue would outlive every deck type out there. However, Blizzard still has one magic bullet in its chamber to end Miracle Rogue forever in the Standard meta and that's by formally retiring the Gadgetzan Auctioneer.
It hasn't just been Rogue making good use of this minion, either. Druid and Priest players have started packing in Gadgetzan Auctioneer to help with their card draws. For Priests, it's been invaluable for the Highlander Priest. For Druids, it's been a quick way to draw into larger and larger Jade Golems. There's no other card quite like it, allowing players to quickly and efficiently dig deep into their decks and pull out their win conditions.
Really, if any card is deserving of the "Hall of Fame" designation, it's Gadgetzan Auctioneer. This minion has done it all, dominating the Ranked ladder and helping decide championship tournaments. It has been a part of Hearthstone since its inception, but the time has come for new and exciting decks and it may finally be time to close up shop on this guy for good.
(9) Alexstrasza (8/8) Type: Minion - Dragon Class: Neutral Rarity: Legendary Battlecry: Set a hero's remaining Health to 15.
It was much easier to guess Legendary minions in last year's Hall of Fame class, just because Sylvanas and Ragnaros felt so omnipresent. There's a part of me that believes Blizzard would like to retire at least one Legendary and the one that comes to mind is Alexstrasza.
Alex has been another staple in Hearthstone, nearly since the beginning. She was a frequent staple of Freeze Mage decks, even before Ice Lance got inducted into last year's Hall of Fame class. But Alex's problem now, as it was back then, is that she feels like a mindless card. There's no reason to play pressure on opponents in the early to late game, because players can just drop Alex and set their opponents to 15 anyway. And while this is an expensive 9-mana play, most players can use it as a way to set up lethal for next turn.
The Alex two-turn kill combos are something I'm sure Blizzard would love to avoid dealing with when designing future expansions, encouraging players to try and either play control or aggro without having the Turn 9, 15 health crutch around to make the game feel more one-sided.
Those are some of our ideas for Hearthstone's next Hall of Fame class. I could also be crazy for some of these choices, so feel free to join the conversation and comment on what you think will get sent off to Wild with the next set rotation.
