I just had a thought as to why Daemon never had a daughter named after his mother, Alyssa. Given that in the show, Viserys says that Daemon was always her favourite. He names Baela after Baelon and Rhaena after Laena’s mother, Rhaenys, but it always made me curious why not Alyssa. Another thing is that the name also never shows up in any descendants- it sort of just dies after Alyssa.

Prince Aemond had kept Vhagar with the main column throughout the march, thinking that his uncle might attempt to attack them on Caraxes. He reached Harrenhal a day after Cole, and that night celebrated a great victory; Daemon and "his river scum" had fled rather than face his wroth, Aemond proclaimed. Small wonder then that when word of the fall of King's Landing reached him, the prince felt thrice the fool. His fury was fearsome to behold.

First to suffer for it was Ser Simon Strong. Prince Aemond had no love for any of that ilk, and the haste with which the castellan had yielded Harrenhal to Daemon Targaryen convinced him the old man was a traitor. Ser Simon protested his innocence, insisting that he was a true and loyal servant of the Crown. His own great nephew, Larys Strong, was Lord of Harrenhal and King Aegon's master of whisperers, he reminded the Prince Regent. These denials only inflamed Aemond's suspicions. The Clubfoot was a traitor as well, he decided. How else would Daemon and Rhaenyra have known when King's Landing was most vulnerable? Someone on the small council had sent word to them...and Larys Clubfoot was Breakbones's brother, and thus an uncle to Rhaenyra's bastards.

Aemond commanded that Ser Simon be given a sword. "Let the gods decide if you speak truly," he said. "If you are innocent, the Warrior will give you the strength to defeat me." HUGE SPOILERS OF HOTD

One of the things that saddened me most about Fire and Blood was the lack of descriptions for some of the Targaryen family dragons (yes, I'm obsessed with dragons).

With the release of the book The Rise of the Dragon I was hoping that we would know what color those remaining dragons were, but the only clue we can have about them is the image of the storming of the Dragonpit drawn by Campbell White. Therefore, based on this image and the descriptions of the death of the dragons, I think we can theorize about the color of these dragons (if George told the author about their color).

Thus, the dragons would be the following:

Vermax

We do not have any official description of said dragon, so we must trust the series, where it is shown as a green dragon with a white belly and orange wings.

Shrykos

In the storming of the Dragonpit, Shrykos's death is described as follows:

“The first dragon to die was Shrykos, who was slain by Hobb the Hewer. Hobb leapt onto her neck and drove his ax down into the dragon's skull".

Below in the image we can see a dragon being wounded in the skull by an axe. It would, therefore, be Shrykos, whose color in the image appears to be bronze, similar to Vermithor.

Tyraxes

In the case of Tyraxes, it is said that “he retreated towards his lair, burning each man who pursued him, leaving the entrance impassable due to the number of corpses he left behind. However, the crowd entered through a back entrance. As he turned, the dragon became tangled in its chains, leaving itself at the mercy of its attackers”.

However, the important point that can give us a clue as to which of the dragons in the image is Tyraxes is the following: “His membranes were then sliced from his wings and turned into strips, so dragonskin cloaks could be fashioned from them.”

So, although the dragon should already be dead, this should be the main one. Tyraxes would then be pink/purple with black horns, similar to Morning.

Morghul

The last one left is Morghul, although the third dragon in the image could well be Dreamfyre, given that this dragon managed to break free from her chains and burn many men. However, the dragon in the image is somewhat small and its tone is not completely bluish as Dreamfyre's should be.

If it were not Dreamfyre, then this dragon would be Morghul, who was killed by the Burning Knight, "who rushed into the dragon's flame and stabbed him repeatedly in the eye with his spear." The fact that the dragon is breathing fire could be an indication that it is Morghul. Therefore, its color would be a pearly green.

Stormcloud

We don't have any clues about the color of Aegon III's dragon, so we'll have to wait for its appearance in the show.

Again, I don't know to what extent GRRM spoke with the artist or if the author made his own decisions when choosing the color of the dragons. Maybe with the next seasons of the series we can clear up doubts. I think I'll cry a lot when this scene comes out...sniff

The best thing about HotD is that Aegon II looks like an absolute unit in Fire and Blood and they cast Tom Glynn Carney who looks like he'd break if you were to shove him too hard against a wall. I love it. 10/10.

Do you have any favorite arts from the rise of the dragon's book?

Hi there 😁

I will be honest, upon seeing that art of Rhaenyra and Daemon flying on Syrax and Caraxes when the book was announced I was super hyped! And when another art of them (also flying) was released I was even more hyped! But... on the days before the release I kept having this sense that I should not pre-order it.

And I didn't and decided: Let me wait and see some of the images first.

Boy I was not impressed.

We do get some very nice ones. My favourites so far were definitely Syrax and Caraxes flying to the Red Keep and carrying our Queen and Prince Consort, and the Black Brides.... other than that though... most of what we get is very weak.

Honestly this book just feels like a cash grab and some of the images are borderline embarassing to look at. Like... this was done by professional artists... dudes COME ON! Like I have seen so many fanartists with the quality and passion these people can only dream of having! Like when you're a pro, and literally so many people on the web are doing a much better job than you like... rethink your career bro.

So yeah. I am passing on that one. It just feels like a cash grab - like other things released this year 😊 which lack even more quality - and such a glow down from "The World of Ice and Fire" that I see no reason to spend my money on it.

Even the art in Fire and Blood that I considered mostly underwhelming looks amazing compared to the one in Rise.
